A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE 3.0 L V6 ENGINE. HEAVY SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE. VISIBLE OIL SLUDGE UNDER THE OIL REFILL CAP.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR HAS SEVERAL TIMES NOW REFUSED TO LATCH, AND WHEN IN EMERGENCY SITUATION I HAVE LOCKED IT AND FORCED IT TO SHUT THEN IT WILL NOT UNLOCK AND IT HAS TO BE TAKEN APART TO BE OPENED AND THE WHOLE LATCH AND LOCK MECHANISM REWORKED BY THE MECHANIC, AND IN THE MEANTIME THE DOOR IS UNABLE TO BE OPENED WHICH IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE WHEN I HAVE CHILDREN IN THE MIDDLE AND BACK ROWS OF THE VAN. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IN THE PAST 3 YEARS THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED, SO IT IS DEFINITELY AN ACTUAL PROBLEM WITH THE HARDWARE OF THE DOOR LATCH MECHANISM ITSELF AND NOT SIMPLY A GLITCH THAT OCCURRED ONCE OR SOMETHING.
MY 9 YEAR OLD SON AND I WERE ON OUR WAY HOME FROM WORK LAST NIGHT AND I HEARD SOMETHING SNAP ON MY 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA. I THEN HEARD SOMETHING DRAGGING SO I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO CHECK AND REALIZED THE FUEL TANK WAS DRAGGING AND THE BACK STRAPS HOLDING THE GAS TANK UP HAD BROKEN LOOSE CAUSING THE BACK SECTION OF THE TANK TO DRAG ON THE ROAD. I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO TOW VEHICLE TO THE MECHANICS. SINCE I WORK 18 MILES AWAY I FIND GETTING TO WORK DIFFICULT.
I HAD JUST DROPPED MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTER OFF AT SCHOOL AND AS I WAS LEAVING I HAD TO STOP BECAUSE SOME CHILDREN WITH THEIR PARENTS NEEDED TO CROSS IN FRONT OF ME I APPLIED MY BRAKES AS NORMAL AND I HAD NO ISSUES IN STOPPING BUT THEN IT FEELS LIKE A "GHOST" PUSHES THE GAS PEDAL DOWN BECAUSE I CAN FEEL IT MOVE AND SEE MY RPM GAUGE GO UP AND I HEAR MY ENGINE "VRRRROOOMMMM" I PUSHED MY BRAKES HARDER AND STILL NOTHING, THE END RESULTS ME HAVING TO PUT MY CAR INTO PARK TO KEEP IT FROM MOVING INTO THE CROSSWALK ONTO THE PEOPLE. WHEN I GET HOME IT DOES THE SAME THING AND I ALMOST CRASH INTO MY GARAGE BECAUSE THE CAR IS ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN AND AGAIN. IT WOULD ALWAYS HAPPEN AT RANDOM, AFTER I WOULD LET GO OF THE BRAKES ITS ALREADY MOVING FAST AS IF MY FOOT IS ON THE GAS, I SAY TO MY PASSENGER WHICH IS MY WIFE "LOOK THE VAN IS GOING ON IT'S OWN, I'M NOT EVEN PUSHING THE GAS" THE VAN WAS MOVING PRETTY FAST, BUT FAST ENOUGH FOR THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC FROM A STOP AND GO MOVEMENT. I NO LONGER DRIVE THE VAN BECAUSE I AM SCARED THAT I AM GOING TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT AND I DON'T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON I EVEN HAD THE VAN CHECKED FOR CODES AND NOTHING CAME UP.
THE SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER WAS FAULTY AND NOT WORKING PROPERLY. IT STOPPED THE SRS DEPLOY AND HAVE THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE HOOD WAS SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND UNLATCHED FROM THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE WINDSHIELD TO CRACK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
HORN WILL NOT WORK IN THE RAIN OR WHEN YOU DRIVE IN WATER. IT TAKES ABOUT A DAY FOR THE HORN TO DRY OUT FOR THE HORN TO WORK AT ALL. PEOPLE COULD GET KILLED WHEN THE HORN WILL NOT WORK IN THE RAIN OR WATER. TOYOTA NEEDS TO HAVE A RECALL NOW TO SAVE THE LIVES OF MILLIONS OF MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN THE USA.
TAKATA RECALL. WHITE SMOKE COMES OUT OF THE EXHAUST WHEN I START THE CAR. THEN SMOKE DISAPPEARS OR STAY AT LOW LEVEL DURING DRIVING. DECREASE OIL. I PUT ONE QUARTER OIL EACH WEEK. MECHANICS SAYS IT MAY HEAD GASKIT OR SEALS. COSTS 2000 AND ABOVE TO REPAIR. IF NOT BETTER TO GARBAGE THIS VEHICLE. IT HAS A CLEAN TITLE WITH 106K.
I WAS ENTERING THE PARKING AREA OF A SHOPPING CENTER. IMMEDIATELY AFTER TURNING IN THE CAR ACCELERATED QUICKLY. I BRAKED TO NO AVAIL. THEN I PUT ON THE FOOT EMERGENCY BRAKE, WHICH SLOWED BUT DID NOT STOP THE CAR. A PASSENGER THEN TURNED OFF THE KEY AND WE LURCHED TO AN ABRUPT STOP, SHORT OF A TYPICAL PARKING LOT LIGHT POLE. AFTER A BRIEF TIME I TURNED ON THE KEY AND WAS MET WITH A VERY LOUD GROWL FROM THE HOOD. AAA HAULED ME TO JOSEPH AIRPORT TOYOTA IN VANDALIA, OH. ON TUES, AUG 11, I CALLED TO SEE WHAT THEY HAD FOUND. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AFTER TESTING AND DRIVING THE CAR. I ASKED TO TALK WITH THE MECHANIC, WHO TOLD ME HE HAD TESTED EVERYTHING THOROUGHLY AND COULD NOT REPLICATE WHAT I HAD EXPERIENCED.
[THIS INCIDENT HAS ALSO BEEN REPORTED TO TOYOTA - CASE # [XXX].] I EXITED PARKING LOT AND TURNED LEFT TO TRAVEL NORTH ON TWO-LANE STREET AT 5 PM. IMMEDIATELY AFTER ENTERING THE LANE, MY CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE. I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR, AND IT WAS STUCK IN POSITION. I TAPPED THE PEDAL, AT WHICH POINT THE PEDAL LOCKED IN THE DOWN POSITION, AND THE CAR RACED FORWARD, WITH TIRES SCREECHING. I IMMEDIATELY HIT THE BRAKES AND PUT IN CAR IN NEUTRAL. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV AT 5000-6000 RPM WHILE I PULLED OFF TO THE SHOULDER ON THE RIGHT. AFTER PUTTING THE SHIFT INTO PARK, I REACHED DOWN WITH MY HAND, NOTED THERE WAS NO CARPET INTERFERING WITH THE PEDAL, YET IT WAS STUCK IN THE DOWNWARD POSITION. I PULLED BACK A FEW TIMES AND WAS ABLE TO FREE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL MOVEMENT, AT WHICH POINT THE ENGINE BEGAN TO IDLE. I TESTED THE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE RESUMING MY ROUTE. AT MY FIRST LEFT TURN AFTER THE ACCELERATION INCIDENT, I NOTED THAT THE CAR HAD NO POWER STEERING, AND I WAS BARELY ABLE TO TURN THE CAR A SHARP 90 DEGREES TO THE LEFT. TOYOTA SIENNA HAS AIR BAG FLASHING, IT JUST LAST 12/12/20014, SO I BROUGHT IT TO FREMONT TOYOTA FOR CHECK UP AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE FLASHING AIR BAG ASK THEM IF IF IS PART OF TOYOTA AIR BAG RECALL. THEY CHARGE ME $152.00 TO FIND OUT THE PROBLEM. AFTER 2 HRS, THEY SAY, THEY NEED MORE HOURS TO FIND THE PROBLEM AND THEY ARE CHARGING ME ANOTHER $152.00. I THOUGHT THE $152.00 IN THE FIRST PLACE THEY TELL YOU THE PROBLEM.IS THIS RIGHT WHEN THEY ESTIMATE THE HOUR. THEY CAN DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. TO PAY EXTRA I DON"T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY.. IS THIS AIR BAG PROBLEM IS TOYOTA RECALL. I AM AFRAID FOR MY FAMILY SAFETY. THANKS: CONRAD
THE HORN ON THE SIENNA WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION WHEN DRIVING AS A HORN COULD POSSIBLY PREVENT AN ACCIDENT WITH A CAR OR PEDESTRIAN. FIRST HAD THE PROBLEM IN 2014, BUT WHEN WE BROUGHT IT TO TOYOTA, IT WOULD WORK, SO THEY COULDN'T CHECK IT OUT. IN APRIL 2015, THEY FINALLY THOUGHT IT WAS A DEFECTIVE SPIRAL CABLE, SO THEY REPLACED IT, TO THE TUNE OF $400+. THREE DAYS LATER, WE HAD THE PROBLEM AGAIN. WEREN'T ABLE TO BRING IT BACK UNTIL RECENTLY. REPLACED SPIRAL CABLE AGAIN. PROBLEM RETURNED BEFORE THE CAR MADE IT HOME. VEHICLE IS BACK IN SHOP. I BELIEVE THEY SAID THEY ARE REPLACING THE HORN PAD ASSEMBLY, WHICH WILL COST ANOTHER $150 FOR THE PART. THEY ARE NOT CHARGING FOR LABOR AS IT IS UNDER A 1 YEAR SERVICE WARRANTY. FOUND OUT TODAY A COWORKER HAS A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH A 2005 SIENNA. I GOOGLED, "PROBLEMS WITH SIENNA HORN" AND FOUND MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL AS THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. I FEEL THAT MAYBE THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY SERIOUS ACCIDENTS ATTRIBUTED TO THIS PROBLEM AND SO IT'S "FLOWN UNDER THE RADAR", SO TO SPEAK.
THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VAN IN TIME AND THE PASSENGER SIDE OF FRONT BUMPER OF THE 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA VAN HIT THE WALL OF A HOUSE BUT NO AIR BAGS CAME OUT OR INFLATED. THE VAN IS TOTALLY DAMAGED AND NOT DRIVEABLE. *TR
THE SPARE TIRE MECHANISM BROKE ON MY 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA MINIVAN. THANKFULLY I WAS TRYING TO REMOVE THE SPARE WHEN IT HAPPENED AND THE SPARE TIRE DID NOT GO FLYING INTO TRAFFIC. THE CABLE BROKE AT THE END WHERE THE CABLE GOES THROUGH THE METAL HOLDER/BRACKET THAT ACTUALLY CLAMPS TO THE WHEEL. IF THIS HAD BROKEN OFF WHEN THE VAN WAS MOVING, EITHER THE VAN WOULD HAVE BEEN DAMAGED BY THE SPARE GETTING CAUGHT BETWEEN THE ROAD AND THE VAN OR THE SPARE MAY HAVE HIT ANOTHER CAR. THIS IS MAYBE THE SECOND TIME THAT WE HAVE HAD THE SPARE OFF IN THE 258K MILES WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR SO IT IS NOT SOMETHING THAT WE INSPECT REGULARLY. THERE ARE A LOT OF THESE VANS OUT THERE AND I REALLY DON'T WANT TO BE BEHIND ONE WHEN THE SPARE LETS GO. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THAT MY VAN DID NOT HAVE A RECALL ON THIS ITEM. *TR
THE STEEL CABLE FOR THE POWER SLIDING DOOR SNAPPED WHILE DOOR WAS BEING OPENED ELECTRONICALLY. THE RIGHT SIDE SLIDING DOOR WAS UNABLE TO OPEN WIDER THAN A FOOT SINCE THE CABLE SNAPPED WHILE IN OPERATION. PASSENGERS, INCLUDING CHILDREN, HAD TO EXIT THE PARKED VEHICLE THROUGH THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE DOOR REMAINED INOPERABLE UNTIL WE WERE ABLE TO CUT THE REMAINING LENGTH OF STEEL CABLE HANGING FROM THE VEHICLE ONTO THE ROADWAY WITH WIRE CUTTERS. THE DOOR NOW IS A MANUAL SLIDING DOOR UNTIL THE ENTIRE MOTOR AND STEEL CABLE SYSTEM CAN BE REPLACED. *TR
WITHIN THE LAST YEAR I HAVE REPLACED MY BRAKE PADS REPLACE 3 TIMES. JUST LAST MONTH I REPLACED MY PADS , ROTORS AND CALIPERS. BUT NOW MY PADS ARE GRINDING REALLY BAD AGAIN AND IT'S BEEN 30 DAYS SINCE I HAD NEW PADS, ROTORS AND CALIPERS PUT ON. SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG! I'M WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF TOYOTA SIENNA VAN. *TR
INSTRUMENT AND VEHICLE LIGHTS BEGAN TO FLICKER. ELECTRIC DRIVERS SEAT WORKS RANDOMLY AND BACKGROUND LIGHT FOR RADIO HAS STOPPED WORKING AS WELL AS THE CRUISE LIGHT STOPPED WORKING ON THE INSTRUMENT DISPLAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT INDEPENDENTLY MOVED BACK AND FORTH. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER'S BACK REST BOLT WAS FRACTURED AND SEPARATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,699.
WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE DECELERATION IS ALMOST ZERO. PRESSING HARDER ON THE PEDAL DOES NOTHING TO INCREASE THE DECELERATION. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE INTO THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES AND NOTHING COULD BE FOUND. I HAVE REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER WITH NO CHANGE. CRASHES WERE AVERTED IN SOME CASES BY INCHES. *TR
I REPLACED MY BRAKES PAD AND ROUTERS LESS THAN A YEAR AGO AND REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES DECEMBER 2012 AT SEARS. MY ABS LIGHT AND TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT COME ON EVERY TIME I DRIVE AND RECENTLY I PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AT NO MORE THAN 5 MPH AND PRESSED ON THE BRAKE AND I COULDN'T STOP REVERSING IN THE STREET. I FELL WHEN I DRIVING THE ANTI BRAKE SYSTEM TRIES TO WORK. BECAUSE MY PEDAL JUMPS AND VIBRATES AND I HEAR CLICKING GRINDING SOUNDS. I HAVE HAD TO STOP INTERSECTIONS BECAUSE MY VAN WOULDN'T STOP WHEN I NEEDED IT TOO. *TR
THE REAR AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR FAILS TO OPEN OR CLOSE. CAN NO LONGER BE OPENED MANUALLY FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. SEEN REPORTS OF SAME OR SIMILAR ISSUES ON LINE. OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES HAVE APPEARED WITH THE VEHICLE AS WELL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EMITTED A STRONG GASOLINE FUEL ODOR WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE ODOR WAS DUE TO A FAULTY FUEL CANISTER AND CAP. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL CANISTER AND CAP BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS LOCATED AT THE FUEL PIPE ASSEMBLY LINES. THE FUEL PIPE ASSEMBLY LINES WERE REPLACED TWICE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR, DUE THE VEHICLE MILEAGE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,542 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103,515.
THE LEFT AND RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOORS FAILED TO OPEN DUE TO BREAKAGE OF THE CABLE. I AM UNCERTAIN OF WHETHER THE CHILD SAFETY LOCKS WERE ENGAGED, HOWEVER, THE DOORS WILL NOT OPEN WIDER THAN APPROX. 6". REAR PASSENGERS HAD TO CRAWL OUT OF THE VAN VIA THE DRIVER'S OR FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. I AM ELATED THAT THE FAILURE OF THE DOORS DID NOT OCCUR DURING A HAZARDOUS CONDITION, SINCE THIS WOULD HAVE PLACED THE REAR OCCUPANTS IN EXTREME DANGER. IF TOYOTA AND NHTSA WAS AWARE THAT THERE IS A FAILURE IN THE CABLES AND THE MANUAL RELEASE OF THE REAR DOORS, THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A SAFETY ALERT AND/OR RECALL OF THE VEHICLES FOR REPAIR OF THE VANS. THE FAILURE OF THE DOORS IS NOT SIMPLY A MATTER OF COSMETIC ISSUES, IT IS POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS AND LIFE THREATENING. AT A MINIMUM, THE DOORS SHOULD HAVE ALLOWED FOR MANUAL OPENING AND CLOSING, IF THE CABLES SHOULD BREAK. THE BREAKING OF THE CABLE, ALONG WITH THE INABILITY TO OPEN THE DOOR IS A DEFECT IN WORKMANSHIP, SINCE THE DOOR DID NOT OPEN TO ALLOW THE PASSENGERS TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. I AM REQUESTING, ALONG WITH ALL OF THE OTHER OWNERS WHO HAVE REGISTERED COMPLAINTS, THAT THE AGENCY INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER. AT A MINIMUM, THE DOORS SHOULD DEFAULT TO MANUAL MODE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO DRIFT FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 TO 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO RESTART SO IT WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. AFTER DIAGNOSIS, THEY ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO SLUDGE BUILD-UP AND OIL JELLING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 134,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH REAR SLIDING DOORS HANDLES FAILED. THE EXTERIOR HANDLE ON THE REAR LIFT GATE ALSO FAILED. AS A RESULT, THE POWER MOTOR ON BOTH SLIDING DOORS WAS REMOVED. DUE TO THE REMOVAL OF THE POWER MOTORS, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR HANDLES WERE TOO THIN TO SUCCESSFULLY OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOORS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO REPLACE THE DOOR HANDLES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACTS REAR SEAT BELT WAS PULLED OUT OF THE HOUSING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC TO HAVE THE SEAT BELT REPAIRED. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED FROM EXTENSIVE USE OVER TIME. THE CONTACT STATED THE SEAT BELT SHOULD NEVER COME OUT OF THE HOUSING AND IF THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH SOMEONE COULD GET INJURED DUE TO THE SEAT BELT MALFUNCTIONING. THE CONTACT HAD NOT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.

WHEN DOORS ARE CLOSED WE ARE UNABLE TO PUSH THE BUTTON INSIDE OR USE THE OUTSIDE HANDLE TO RELEASE THE LATCH AND OPEN THE DOOR. IF THE DOOR IS OPEN WHEN THIS HAPPENS WE ARE THEN UNABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR AS IT WILL NOT LATCH. WHEN THE DOOR REMAINS OPEN THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND THE VAN IS UNDRIVEABLE AS DOING SO WOULD PUT THE PASSENGERS AT RISK. WHEN THE DOOR IS STUCK IN A CLOSE POSITION IT MAKES EXITING THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT WHICH WOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF THERE WERE AN EMERGENCY AND A QUICK EXIT WERE NECESSARY. THE BACK HATCH LATCH HAS ALSO BROKEN. WE HAVE REMOVED THE COVER FROM THE BACK HATCH AND WITH A GREAT DEAL OF MANIPULATION WE CAN USUALLY MAKE THIS DOOR WORK. THE POWER SLIDING DOOR IS NOW STUCK OPEN AND WILL NOT CLOSE. THE OUTSIDE HANDLE HAS COMPLETELY BROKEN OFF. THE HANDLE ON THE MANUAL SLIDING DOOR IS GOING TO BREAK OFF SOON. BECAUSE THERE'S NO REMOTE WAY TO OPEN THE LATCH (EITHER WIRELESS OR WIRED), IT'S NECESSARY TO CLIMB INSIDE THE VEHICLE REMOVE AND DISASSEMBLE THE INTERIOR REAR-HATCH DOOR PANELING AND MANUALLY ENGAGE THE RELEASE CABLE. OUR 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA HAS SEATBELT PROBLEMS. 3 OF THE SEATBELTS ARE NOW USELESS (LOCKED UP) AND THE DRIVER SEATBELT GETS TWISTED UP ALL THE TIME. THEY ARE FAULTY SEATBELTS. THIS IS THE FIRST VEHICLE THAT THE SEATBELTS HAVE GONE OUT AT 70,000 MILES. DANGEROUS. NOT HAPPY. DON'T BUY TOYOTA. *TR
I HAVE A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE THAT DOES NOT FIT THE ORDINARY TYPE OF COMPLAINT. I BELIEVE THAT THE TIRE INDUSTRY IS PUTTING THOUSANDS OF DRIVERS AT RISK IN WINTER DRIVING BECAUSE OF POLICIES THAT IGNORE NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. BECAUSE OF TEST ON VEHICLES THAT ARE SKIDDING OUT OF CONTROL THEY ARE MAKING POLICIES THAT PUT THE DRIVER AT RISK WHEN DRIVING IN SNOW. THEY RECOMMEND THAT TWO TIRES WITH GREATER TREAD ALWAYS BE INSTALLED ON THE REAR WHEELS. SKIDS ARE A RESULT OF DRIVING TOO FAST. HOWEVER IF YOU CANNOT MOVE THE CAR THEIR RECOMMENDATION IS OF ABSOLUTELY NO VALUE. IF YOU HAVE A FRONT WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE IN DEEP SNOW AND CANNOT GET ENOUGH TRACTION YOU CANNOT MOVE. IF YOU ARE DRIVING AND A SNOW PLOW MAKE A PILE IN YOUR PATH IT MAY STOP YOUR CAN AND YOU MAY GET HIT IN THE BACKEND. IF YOU HAVE A STEEP HILL AND CAN'T GET UP YOU ARE A BIG HAZARD FOR ALL TRAFFIC BEHIND YOU. I TRY TO DRIVE WITH MY FRONT WHEELS IN MIND AND TO AVOID AT ALL COST LOSING TRACTION. MICHELIN X RADIAL TIRES (80,000 MILE TIRES) FROM SAM'S CLUB I HAD 4 MICHELIN X RADIAL TIRES ALL PURCHASED FROM SAM'S CLUB ON MY TOYOTA SIENNA. ALL 4 TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE. ON 9/10/10 MY SIENNA'S RIDE FELT BUMPY. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC. HE SHOWED MY WHERE MY REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS SEPARATING DUE TO THE RADIAL BELT OF THE TIRE COMING LOSE. I TOOK MY SIENNA BACK TO SAM'S CLUB ON 9/10/10. SAM'S CLUB ALSO DIAGNOSED THE TIRE AS DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED IT. ON 9/28/10 MY REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE LOST A RADIAL BELT WHILE I WAS ON I-75 TRAVELING AT 70 MPH. I BROUGHT THE TIRE BACK TO SAM'S CLUB ON 9/29/10 AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE TIRE AS DEFECTIVE. ON 10/1/2010 I TOOK MY SIENNA TO MY MECHANIC FOR A SAFETY INSPECTION AND ALIGNMENT (SINCE MY ALIGNMENT WAS THROWN OUT WHEN THE TIRE STRIPPED ON THE HIGHWAY.) MY MECHANIC INSPECTED MY FRONT TIRES AND FOUND MULTIPLE SIGNS OF DEFECTIVE RADIAL BELTS IN BOTH FRONT TIRES. MY MECHANIC MARKED THE PECULIAR WEAR ON BOTH TIRES WITH CHALK. I REPLACED THE FRONT TIRES WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND. I TRIED TO RETURN THE TIRES TO SAM'S CLUB BECAUSE THEY WERE ONLY THREE YEARS OLD WITH LESS THAN 40,000 MILES ON THEM. SAM'S CLUB REFUSED TO TAKE THEM BACK. *TR

I HAVE A SIENNA LE 2001. 118,000 MILES. WE HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OWNERS SINCE WE BOUGHT IT. WE HAVE NO PERFECT RECORD OF OIL CHANGES BUT WE HAVE DONE IT PERIODICALLY. ABOUT 3-4 MONTHS AGO, IT WAS RUNNING OK, BUT IT BLEW OUT WHITE-ISH/ BLUE-ISH SMOKE OCCASIONALLY (USUALLY WHEN FIRST STARTING, IT DIDN'T SEEM TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IF IT WAS HOT OR COLD). IT ALSO HAD LITTLE AND OCCASIONAL POWER LOSS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE WE BOUGHT IT, AND THEY SAID THEY JUST TOOK OFF THE TOP COVER OF THE ENGINE AND IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS GUMMED UP WITH OIL. I HAVE CHANGED THE PCV VALVE, I TOOK IT TO A PLACE FOR AN OIL AND OIL FILTER CHANGE, I AM CONCERNED THE DAMAGE WILL CONTINUE TO THE ENGINE. THE DEALER SAID I NEED A NEW ENGINE, COSTING AROUND $8000. I ASKED A SECOND OPINION OF THE MECHANIC THAT HAS WORKED ON OUR CARS, AND HE THINKS HE WOULD NEED TO TAKE APART THE ENGINE AND FIGURE OUT HE PROBLEM, COSTING AROUND $2000-$3000, HE ALSO MENTIONED THE POSSIBILITY OF A NEW MOTOR. HONESTLY, I DO NOT RECALL RECEIVING INFORMATION ABOUT THE "SPECIAL POLICY ADJUSTMENT" FROM TOYOTA OR DEALER REGARDING CHECK-REPLACE THE ENGINES THAT ARE OR COULD BE DAMAGED FROM SLUDGE. TOYOTA SIENNA BRAKES PEDAL GOES DOWN TO THE FLOOR GIVING NOT ENOUGH BRAKING TO STOP VEHICLE. THE BRAKE WORK HAS BEEN DONE ON THIS MINI-VAN THREE TIMES WITHIN LAST 2~3 YEARS AT TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS SERVICE CENTER BUT THE CONDITION HAS NOT BEEN IMPROVED. THE DEALERSHIP HAS WORKED ON BOTH FRONT(DISC BRAKES) AND REAR(DRUM BRAKES) INCLUDING PART REPLACED AND REPAIRED. BRAKE CYLINDERS AT REAR TIRES REPLACED. THE FRONT DISC HAD BEEN CHANGED WITH BRAKE SHOES. REAR BRAKE ROTOR WAS MACHINED AND BRAKE SHOES HAVE BEEN REPLACED. NONE OF THE OLD PARTS ARE AVAILABLE WITH VEHICLE OWNER. *TR
THE ENGINE FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $5,000 DUE TO OIL SLUDGE BUILDUP. TRAVELING ON I-4 FROM TAMPA TO ORLANDO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED THEN WE HEARD A TAPPING FROM THE ENGINE,. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND AAA TOWED THE VEHICLE AND A RENTAL CAR COMPANY PICKED US UP. I HAD TWO ELDERLY PASSENGERS (IN THEIR 80'S) WITH WALKERS WHO HAD TO TRAVERSE THE GRASS ALONG THE INTERSTATE TO GET TO THE RENTAL CAR AND WERE NEARLY BLOWN OVER BY PASSING TRUCKS. TOYOTA REFUSED TO HONOR A CLAIM FOR REPAIRS ALTHOUGH THEY HAD AGREED IN A RECENT LOUISIANA LAWSUIT TO COVER SAID REPAIRS FOR 8 YEARS FROM DATE OF PURCHASE. MY FAILURE WAS 8 YEARS AND 10 MONTHS FROM PURCHASE. THE SLUDGE TOOK MUCH LONGER THAN 8 MONTHS TO BUILD UP BUT TOYOTA REFUSED TO HONOR THEIR STATED COMMITMENT TO ASSIST ALL AFFECTED BY OIL SLUDGE DAMAGE (OVER 3,000 COMPLAINTS). THEIR PRODUCT WAS DEFECTIVE AND DANGEROUS AND THEIR DENIAL TO ASSIST WAS DISHONORABLE. *TR
