SMELLED BURNING OR SMOLDERING INSIDE OF VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. AFTER STOPPING TO INSPECT, NOTICED THAT A WIRE FOR SLIDING ELECTRIC DOOR WAS JUST HANGING (DRIVERS SIDE EXTERIOR OF REAR QUARTER PANEL). THE WIRE WAS BURNED AND WAS JUST HANGING THERE. THE ELECTRIC SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT WORK AFTERWARDS. TOOK SIENA TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT THERE IS SOME TYPE OF WARRANTY AFFECTING THE DOORS BUT THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT INVOLVED. THEY ADVISED NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. TOYOTA DID NOT ADVISE OF ANY KNOWN DANGERS KNOWN TO THEM IF ANY.

YESTERDAY NIGHT THE SLIDING DOORS DID NOT WANT TO CLOSE WE HAD TO CLOSE IT MANUALLY; THAN TODAY THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. I AM SCARED THEY WILL OPEN OR CLOSE WHEN THEY ARE NOT NEEDED. WE DID NOT ANY TYPE OF PROBLEMS WITH IT. WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT? I USE IT DAILY TO TAKE AND BRING MY 3 CHILDREN TO SCHOOL. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS. SLIDING DOOR AND REAR HATCH OPENING OPERATION IS IMPEDED. HAD TO HAVE IT DISCONNECTED AND TO DATE NO REMEDY? I HAVE A BAD BACK AND NEED THE LIFT GATE AND DOORS TO OPERATE WITH A FUNCTIONING SLIDING DOOR..DOOR WAS OPENING AND NOT CLOSING...TRIED TO HAVE THEM HOOK IT BACK UP BUT SAID THEY CANNOT DO THAT...WHERE IS THE REMEDY FOR THIS PROBLEM . I HAVE A 2013 TOYOTA SIENNA AND NOTICED A CLICKING/KNOCKING SOUND WHENEVER I'M TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT WHILE IN MOTION. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE CV BOOT AND SO I BROUGHT MY CAR TO TWO LOCAL SHOP MECHANIC BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND THE ISSUE. I HAVE CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND SOMETHING THAT MIGHT BE THE CAUSE OF THIS KNOCKING SOUND. I SAW IN ONE TOYOTA SIENNA FORUM TALKING ABOUT THE ISSUE WITH THEIR "STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT" WHERE ONE OF THE OWNER HAVE THIS ISSUE. THE MILEAGE OF MY VAN IS 104900 JUST PASS THE WARRANTY OF 100K BUT STILL LESS THAN 5 YEARS BY APRIL OF THIS YEAR. I KNOW THEIR WARRANTY POLICY IS WHICH EVER COMES FIRST. AND I'VE NOTICED THIS ISSUE 10 MONTHS BEFORE MY MILEAGE GOES MORE THAN 100K BUT I DID NOT PAY ATTENTION ON THIS BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT'S GONNA GO AWAY. I LIVE IN ONTARIO CANADA.
THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR ON A 2013 TOYOTA SIENNA MINIVAN WAS SLOW TO OPEN DO TO OVERNIGHT FREEZING RAIN. HOWEVER, THE DOOR DID OPEN BUT THEN WOULD NOT AUTOMATICALLY RECLOSE. MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH WHEN MANUALLY CLOSED. THE DOOR HAD TO BE TIED SHUT IN ORDER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE TOYOTA DEALER SINCE THERE WAS NO OTHER WAY TO FASTEN IT. THE DEALER REPORTED THEY KNEW THIS WAS PART OF A TOYOTA RECALL BUT THEY HAD NO DOCUMENTATION ON HOW TO FIX IT FROM TOYOTA SO THEY JUST REPLACED THE ENTIRE MOTOR ASSEMBLY. TOYOTA HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT. IT IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT HAS TO BE FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE FALLS OUT OF A MOVING VEHICLE. THE DOOR CLOSES AND APPEARS LATCHED UNTIL YOU DRIVE AND THEN IT FLIES OPEN.

WHILE STATIONARY IN DRIVEWAY, PASSENGER REAR DOOR INTERMITTENTLY WILL NOT OPEN OR WILL NOT CLOSE. WE HAVE NOTICED THIS AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TURNED OFF, AND THE KEY IS NO LONGER IN THE IGNITION. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. MY SON WILL PUSH THE BUTTON FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, AND ATTEMPT TO USE THE HANDLE ON THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHEN THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN, HE HAD TO USE THE DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE TO GET OUT. THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER TIMES AFTER HE HAS GOTTEN IN THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR, BUT THE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. IT TAKES PUSHING THE BUTTON MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET THE DOOR TO CLOSE. THIS HAS HAPPENED BOTH WHILE THE KEY IS NOT IN THE IGNITION AND THE CAR IS OFF, AND AFTER THE CAR IS STARTED. CLIMATE OUTSIDE HAS VARIED DURING THESE EPISODES AS WELL.

THE 2013 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AT LARRY H. MILLER TOYOTA IN SPOKANE, WA. ALL MAINTENANCE WAS PERFORMED AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP ACCORDING TO SCHEDULE, WITH NO PROBLEMS NOTED OTHER THAN EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS USED FOR NORMAL CITY AND HIGHWAY DRIVING ONLY, NO GRAVEL OR OFF-ROAD USE. DURING THE 25,000 MILES (VEHICLE MILEAGE IS SLIGHTLY LESS) CHECKUP AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE TIRES WERE DISCOVERED TO BE TREAD-BARE WITH METAL THREADS VISIBLE IN IRREGULAR PATTERNS. THIS WAS NOT AN ALIGNMENT ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW, AND ALL MAINTENANCE WAS PERFORMED ACCORDING TO SCHEDULE, THEREFORE THE TIRES ARE LIKELY DEFECTIVE. THE TIRES IN QUESTION ARE BRIDGESTONE TURANZA EL400-02 RFT. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS TIRE GOING TREAD-BARE ON OR BEFORE 20,000 MILES - THIS IS 1/2 TO 1/3 THE NORMAL LIFESPAN OF A TRADITIONAL TIRE AND OWNERS SHOULD BE NOTIFIED OF THE POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD AND BE REIMBURSED FOR ASSOCIATED REPLACEMENT COSTS. THE TIRES IN QUESTION HAVE A 6-YEAR WARRANTY ON MANUFACTURER DEFECTS, BUT THE TIRE COMPANY DOESN'T WANT TO PAY TO REPLACE THEM. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ALL THE DOCUMENTATION TO PROVE THE PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE WORK WAS DONE PROPERLY FROM DAY 1 AND BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WARRANTY DOESN'T COVER TIRES, THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO DO THE RIGHT THING. I NOW HAVE A VEHICLE, IN LIKE NEW CONDITION, THAT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND NEITHER THE TIRE MANUFACTURER OR THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER WILL ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. I AM A DISABLED VETERAN, WITH LIMITED MOBILITY, AND ON A FIXED INCOME - ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU.

ON NOVEMBER 22, 2016, A RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED FOR THE SLIDING DOOR OPERATIONS. WE THEN DISABLED THE DOOR OPERATIONS PURSUANT TO THE RECALL NOTICE AND HAD THE DEALER LIKEWISE FURTHER DISABLE THE DOOR OPERATION. MORE THAN 7 MONTHS LATER, THERE IS NO REMEDY AND THE DOOR MOTOR STILL RUNS WHEN CLOSING THE DOOR WHICH, SEEMINGLY, IS PART OF THE PROBLEM SO OUR STEPS COUPLED WITH THE STEPS OF THE DEALER, LEAVE US IN NO BETTER OF A PLACE WITH DOORS AND A HATCH THAT REQUIRE MANUAL CLOSING WHICH IS VERY HEARD FROM MY CHILDREN.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ANY TOYOTA DEALER. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
THE POWER SLIDING SIDE DOORS POP OPEN ON THEIR OWN. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND WHEN DRIVING. NO INJURIES TO REPORT. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO OUR LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER WHO PUT THE DOORS ON MANUAL BUT NOW THE DOOR ARE VERY HARD TO OPEN AND CLOSE AND MY CHILDREN CANNOT DO IT. THIS STARTED IN NOV 2016 AND THE ISSUE REMAINS. I FEEL THAT THE REMEDY IS TAKING AN UNREASONABLY LONG TIME AND WOULD LIKE TO VOICE MY COMPLAINT.

IN ADDITION, ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED, AND THE BRAKES DID NOT FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO STOP AFTER THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 72,000.
I WAS DRIVING MY SIENNA VAN 2013 LAST MONTH IN OCTOBER 2016 AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN, THE SIDE MIRROR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE JUST BROKE WITHOUT ANY REASON. I TOOK THE SIENNA TO DEALERSHIP ON THE SAME DAY, STATING THAT, THE MIRROR WAS DEFECTIVE BUT THE DEALERSHIP STATED, THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE & EXPLAINED TO THEM BUT THEY DENIED TO REPLACE THE WINDOW FOR ME. I DROVE SO MANY TOYOTA IN THE PAST 10 YEARS AND THIS WAS THE FIRST INCIDENT THAT HAPPENED TO ME REGARDING TO THE SIDE WINDOW FOR THE TOYOTA.
THE SIDE GLASS ON MY 2013 TOYOTA SIENNA VAN WAS BROKEN OUT BY A ROCK, WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, THE GLASS LITERALLY EXPLODED THROWING CHIPS OF GLASS EVERYWHERE IN THE VEHICLE. IF ONE OF MY GRANDSONS OR A PERSON HAD BEEN SETTING IN ONE OF THE BACK SEATS THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED!!! THE SIDE GLASS ON THESE VEHICLES NEED TO BE SAFETY GLASS SO THIS WOULD NEVER HAPPEN, IT WOULDN'T SHATTER LIKE THAT AND SERIOUSLY HURT SOMEONE. I DID CONTACT TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS SAFETY GLASS AND IT WAS MADE TO BRAKE INTO PIECES, I TOLD THEM THAT THEY NEEDED TO MAKE THE GLASS LIKE THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WITH A LAYER OF SAFETY PLASTIC IN THE MIDDLE AND THEY SAID THATS THE WAY IT IS AND ITS ALL THAT IS REQUIRED OF THEM TO HAVE.

BOTH POWER SLIDING DOORS HAVE FAILED DUE TO THE CABLE ASSEMBLY. ONE DOOR THE CABLE SNAPPED. THE OTHER DOOR THE CABLE GOT STUCK.

ON SEPTEMBER 27, 2016 WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE SUNROOF EXPLODED. I WENT THROUGH MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO FILE A CLAIM. THANKFULLY MY CHILDREN BOTH UNDER THE AGE OF 2 WERE NOT IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO A MEDICAL EMERGENCY. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A FEW OBJECTS ALONG THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER. ALL OF THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD AND DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,500.
POWER DOORS STOPPED WORKING AND ARE STUCK OPEN. THEY STICK OPEN WITH MY KIDS IN THE BACK AND I WAS DRIVING HOME. I'VE OWNED THIS CAR FOR 44 DAYS. MOYER JUST QUIT DOOR IS STUCK HALFWAY. THANK GOD WE GOT HOME SAFE!!! LESS THEN 90000 MILES AND THE CAR IS UNUSABLE. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED, AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH DETACHED WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
SUNROOF EXPLODED WHILE VAN WAS PARKED IN JUNE 25, 2016. PHOTOS SHOW GLASS EXPLODED OUT. VAN WAS CERTIFIED BUT COVERAGE DENIED.
I WAS DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY (95 DEGREES OUTSIDE) WITH THE SUNROOF CLOSED AND I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE AN EXPLOSION. THERE WAS NO DEBRIS ON THE ROAD AND NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME. THE INTERIOR TEMPERATURE OF THE VEHICLE WAS SET AT 68 DEGREES. I PULLED OVER TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, I REALIZED THAT THE GLASS IN THE SUNROOF OVER THE DRIVER'S SEAT HAD COMPLETELY SHATTERED. I PULLED THE COVER CLOSED TO PROTECT MYSELF FROM THE POSSIBILITY OF ANY GLASS FALLING INTO THE VEHICLE. WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS INFORMED THAT I CLEARLY HAD SOMETHING HIT IT; I EXPLAINED THE DRIVING CONDITIONS AND WAS STILL TOLD SOMETHING MUST HAVE HIT IT. UPON RETURNING HOME, I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THERE ARE OTHER REPORTS OF WINDOWS SPONTANEOUSLY "EXPLODING".
I BOUGHT MY SIENNA 12/27/2012. IN OCTOBER 2014 WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM LAKE TAHOE, THE CAR BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY WHILE TRAVELING DOWN HILL. UPON RETURNING HOME THE CAR CONTINUED TO SHAKE ANYTIME THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR HAD $15K MILES ON IT. THIS IS UNHEARD OF. IN JULY 2014 TOYOTA ISSUED T-SB-0045-14 RELATING TO THIS ISSUE AND RECOMMENDED A "SHIM KIT" AS A REPAIR. THIS WAS ALSO ADDED TO MY CAR. IN MAY OF 2016 WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE GRAPEVINE FROM LA THE CAR AGAIN BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE. TOOK THE CAR BACK. AGAIN, 15K MILES AND THE ROTORS ARE WARPED AND NOW WE NEED NEW TIRES AND BACK BRAKES TOO. MY FAMILY HAS OWED 14 TOYOTAS AND WE HAVE NEVER REPLACED ROTORS TWICE AT 31,000 MILES! THERE IS CLEARLY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM OF THIS CAR THAT IS CAUSING IT TO EAT THROUGH BRAKES, ROTORS, AND TIRES AND THE "FIX" THAT TOYOTA HAS COME UP WITH IS NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM!!
MY 2013 TOYOTA SIENNA MINI VAN IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, BUT FRONT SUBFRAME/ENGINE CRADLE HAS A BROKEN WELD ON THE FRONT LEFT SUPPORT AREA. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AGAIN AND AGAIN BUT THEY HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
I HAVE AN ALL WHEEL DRIVE TOYOTA SIENNA WITH RUN-FLAT TIRES THAT I BOUGHT NEW. THE TIRES HAD CATASTROPHIC WEAR DOWN TO THE BELTS ON THE IN ONLY 25000 MILES, ESPECIALLY ON THE REAR. SUSPENSION ALIGNMENT CHECK AT THE DEALER SHOWED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION WAS "IN-SPEC" AND ADDITIONALLY WAS NOT ADJUSTABLE. THE EALER TOLD ME THIS TYPE OF WEAR WAS "NORMAL". I HAVE NEVER SEEN TIRES WEAR AT THE INSIDE EDGE DOWN TO THE STEEL BELTS LIKE THIS ON ANY OF MY MANY VEHICLES OVER 40 YEARS OF DRIVING. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS DUE TO RUN FLAT TIRES, AND THIS IS HOW THEY WEAR. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT AS I HAVE ANOTHER VEHICLE WITH RUN FLAT TIRES THAT HAS NO SUCH PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE SUSPENSION GEOMETRY WITH THE TOYOTA SIENNA AWD VEHICLE THAT CAUSES THIS CATASTROPHIC AND SEVERE TIRE WEAR. THESE WERE FACTORY INSTALLED OEM BRIDGESTONE TURANZA TIRES, NEVER ABUSED OR OVERLOADED, AND AS CAN BE SEEN IN THE PICTURES, WERE WORN, BUT WERE NOT DOWN TO THE WEAR BARS. UPON RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, IT WOULD APPEAR THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE SPECIFIC TO TOYOTA SIENNA AWD VANS. I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND THIS WEAR BEING "NORMAL" UNDER ANY DEFINITION. IT IS CLEARLY A SAFETY HAZARD AND A DEFECT EITHER WITH THE VEHICLE OR THE DESIGN OF THESE TIRES..

THIS HAS NOW OCCURRED TWICE AND HAS BEEN REPAIRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE 1ST TIME HAPPENED A FEW WEEKS AFTER BEING PURCHASED. I WAS TRAVELING APPROX 45-50MPH, BEGAN BREAKING FOR A YELLOW LIGHT WHEN SUDDENLY THE WOMAN IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED SHORT OF THE LIGHT. TO AVOID HITTING HER I HAD TO BREAK FIRM BUT NOT SLAMMING ON THE BREAKS. I STOPPED ABOUT A CAR LENGTH SHORT OF HER AND THEN FELT AN IMPACT. I ASSUMED I HAD BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND BY ANOTHER DRIVER BUT THERE WAS NO CAR THERE. I PULLED INTO A MALL JUST AHEAD AND LOOKED BEHIND THE DRIVERS SEAT TO FIND THE 2ND ROW SEAT, WHERE 10 MINUTES BEFORE MY DAUGHTER HAD BEEN SITTING, HAD COLLAPSED FORWARD, SLID ON THE RAILS AND SLAMMED INTO THE DRIVERS SEAT. THE SEAT WAS LOCKED AND UNABLE TO BE MOVED IN IT'S COLLAPSED POSITION. I SUFFERED EXTREME WHIP LASH AND BACK PAIN. SINCE I WAS IN-ROUTE TO TOYOTA FOR MORE PROBLEMS I WENT TO THE DEALER WHO MOVED THE SEAT BACK AND CLAIMED "MY DAUGHTER MUST HAVE PLAYED WITH IT" AFTER GOING TO A NEW DEALERSHIP AND MONTHS OF TESTING AND BACK AND FORTH TOYOTA REPLICATED THE PROBLEM AND SAID THE RAILS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT NOT THE SEAT. THEY ALSO HAD ME SIGN OFF THAT THEY COULD INSPECT THE PARTS AND TELL ME WHY IT FAILED. THIS NEVER HAPPENED. TWO WEEKS AGO I WAS SLOWING ON A STEEP TWISTING DIRT ROAD TO STOP BEFORE TURNING ON A BRIDGE AND HEAR A SOUND LIKE GOING UP A ROLLER COASTER. CLICK CLICK CLICK. I BRACED BC I KNEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND AGAIN MY DAUGHTERS SEAT SLAMMED INTO MINE. THIS TIME NOT ONLY DID THE RAILS FAIL TO STOP THE SEAT BUT IT AGAIN COLLAPSED FORWARD AND THIS TIME THE FOOT REST ALSO UNLOCKED AND LODGED UNDER MY SEAT. LUCKILY I DID NOT HAVE MY DAUGHTER IN THE VAN THIS TIME EITHER. 2.5 YEARS OF REPEATED UNSUCCESSFUL REPAIRS TO VARIOUS PARTS (MOON ROOF 8+)(RADIO/GPS 5+)(SQUEAKING/RATTLING REAR SEATS 5+) LIABILITY REPORT FILED (4TH) WILL CONTACT A LAWYER THIS TIME.
TONIGHT AROUND 1950 HRS., WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK MY VEHICLE IN A PARKING COVER, I LOST CONTROL OVER MY TOYOTA SIENNA 2013 DUE TO UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY AND AS A RESULT I HIT AND RUN OVER THE CURB. I TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKE PADDLE WITH ALL OF MY STRENGTH WITHOUT ANY SUCCESS. TWO OF MY CHILDREN WERE FRIGHTENED BECAUSE OF THIS ACCIDENT. IF IT WASN'T FOR THE CURB IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE, MY VEHICLE WOULD HAVE STRUCK/HIT THE APARTMENT BUILDING IN FRONT OF ME.
BRAKES LOCKED UP WHILE TRYING TO LEAVE A PARKING LOT. MANY WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON INCLUDING VSC, ABS, AND TRACTION CONTROL AND THE COMPUTER SAID NEEDS IMMEDIATE SERVICE. THE TOYOTA SERVICE MANAGER SAID THEY'VE NEVER SEEN THIS AND THAT THE ACTUATOR NEEDS REPLACED. I'VE NOTED THAT THERE ARE 2 OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS ISSUE AND HOPE THAT THIS SAFETY ISSUE WILL BE INVESTIGATED. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V054000 THAT DISCUSSES: "AN ELECTRICAL COMPONENT WITHIN THE ACTUATOR MAY EXPERIENCE AN INCREASED RESISTANCE RESULTING IN THE ILLUMINATION OF VARIOUS WARNING LIGHTS, INCLUDING THOSE FOR THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL (VSC) SYSTEM, ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS), AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM." I'VE HAD THIS HAPPEN THREE TIMES OVER THE PAST FOUR MONTHS. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY'VE RESET THE CODE AND COULD NOT FIND THE ISSUE. IT KEEPS COMING BACK. I BELIEVE THE 14V054000 NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE MY VEHICLE
I AM CURIOUS TO WHY THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY FROM AN ACCIDENT
AUGUST 1 2015: DRIVING STRAIGHT AND LEVEL, ABOUT 30 MPH BEGAN TO SLOW TO TURN AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK. PEDDLE WAS SOFT, UNSURE IF IT WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. PUMPING THE BRAKE DID NOT HAVE ANY NOTICEABLE EFFECT. NEEDED TO USE PULL OFF INTO A PARKING LOT. TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND USED THE PARKING BRAKE TO STOP. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE WORKING NORMALLY AGAIN AND DROVE HOME (ABOUT 3-4 MILES) WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP (VEHICLE STILL UNDER WARRANTY) AND WAS TOLD THERE ARE NO CURRENT RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE AND TO BRING THE CAR IN ON MONDAY (INCIDENT OCCURRED ON A SATURDAY) FOR EXAMINATION.
I WAS STOPPED AT A BANK DRIVE UP WINDOW, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND AS I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK THE ENGINE SURGED UP TO ABOUT 6900 RPM. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME ABOUT 4 OR 5 TIMES THAT THE ENGINE HAS SURGED AS I HAVE STOPPED. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO TOYOTA REPAIR AND BEEN TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE COMPUTER DOES NOT INDICATE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN ABLE SO FAR TO MAINTAIN CONTROL THE VEHICLE, BUT THIS HAS HAPPENED TOO MANY TIMES FOR IT NOT TO BE REPORTED.
