Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Toyota Sienna. The contact discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of the purchase, the mileage was 59,500. It was later discovered upon checking the paperwork that the mileage was 176,047.
The vehicle died while driving and when I try to start again it will crank but can't start.
Dear sir/ madam, I am writing to report an issue with recall status reporting. All open recalls for my vehicle (VIN: [XXX] ) were completed at an authorized dealership on [01/27/2026]. I have documentation from the dealer confirming that the recall repairs were successfully performed. However, the recall status has not been updated in the NHTSA database and still appears as “open.” I request assistance in ensuring the recall completion is properly reported and reflected in the NHTSA system. Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to a dealer for an oil change, it was discovered through the Carfax report that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale through Facebook Market Place. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 146,000, but upon retrieving the Carfax report, the contact discovered that the mileage was 187,391 on the State inspection report dated June 18, 2025. The issue had not been reported to another agency.
The passenger-side power sliding door system failed to stop or reverse when it encountered physical interference with the vehicle’s open fuel door. The door continued opening under power despite clear obstruction by a fixed exterior body component. The affected components, including the sliding door mechanism and damaged fuel door latch, remain available for inspection upon request. A powered sliding door continuing to operate against an obstruction creates a foreseeable risk of injury to occupants or bystanders, as well as vehicle damage. If a person’s hand, arm, or clothing had been in the same position as the fuel door, injury could have occurred. The incident occurred during normal vehicle use and demonstrates inadequate safeguards against obstruction. The issue has been formally reproduced or confirmed by an independent service center which noted that the incident occurred as described during normal operation of the power sliding door, and no abnormal conditions were present at the time. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms appeared prior to the incident. The power sliding door operated normally and without indication of malfunction until it failed to stop when encountering the open fuel door. Fueling the vehicle with the fuel door open is routine and expected vehicle use. The absence of any interlock, sensor logic, or safeguard preventing a powered sliding door from operating against an open body panel represents a design deficiency rather than a maintenance or wear issue. This condition may affect other vehicles equipped with similar power sliding door systems and warrants evaluation.
The contact owns a 2014 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, there was an audible alarm coming from the vehicle, alerting the contact that the door was ajar. The passenger’s side slide door opened independently while the vehicle was in motion. The vehicle was modified to accommodate a ramp for the contact's two wheel-bound children. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and closed the sliding door. The contact's husband tied the door to prevent it from opening independently again. The check engine warning light was intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was inspected. The contact was informed that two latches had corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V858000 (STRUCTURE). However, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,500.
The passenger side cable that opens and closes the door snapped and is disconnected. The door will get stuck in an open or closed position.
The contact owns a 2014 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that while opening the driver’s side sliding door, the drive belt snapped. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the sliding door drive belt. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also stated that the same failure later occurred on the passenger’s side sliding door. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 155,000.
Timing chain cover leaking oil. This is known issue on 3.5L V6 model years 2011 -2022
The contact owns a 2014 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that the passenger's side and driver's side sliding doors were locked and had failed to open automatically and manually. The contact stated that the motors of the doors were previously replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where the doors could not be opened. The dealer determined that the Power Sliding Door Cable Sub-Assembly, the Sliding Door Center Hinge Assembly, the Fuel Filler Door Hinge and Pin, the Power Sliding Door Rear Lock Assembly, the Sliding Door Front Lock Assembly, and an unknown part had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer related the failure to Toyota Campaign Number: ZK1. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was no longer covered because the campaign had expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
I have 2014 Toyota sienna head gasket problem with less than 100,000 k
The driver's side passenger door power cable broke. We had to turn off the power to all of the mechanical doors. There may have been a recall on this awhile back. The cable could be seen outside of the vehicle. We since have tucked it out of the way.
The spare tire, which is normally secured under the minivan, fell off while driving at approximately 40 mph. My son, who was driving the vehicle, heard a sudden loud noise from the underside of the vehicle. He looked in his rearview mirror and saw something in the middle of the road. He pulled over to inspect the vehicle, and noticed that the spare tire was gone, which he was able to retrieve. I brought the vehicle to a local Toyota dealer, who indicated I needed a new spare tire carrier (at a cost of $329.07), since the original unit had failed due to rust. The spare tire had never been used or removed from its manufactured mounting position since original purchase of the vehicle in 2014. There were no warning signs at any time prior to the incident that the spare tire might come loose from its mounted position. The safety issues associated with this incident are obvious, e.g., another vehicle striking the spare tire or loosing control to avoid the spare tire; the tire rolling and striking a person, another vehicle, or damaging property, etc.
After a rain, water will leak into the driver and front passenger seatbelt coil housing. The front passenger seatbelt was not used in some time and mold developed with green and black stains all along the seatbelt. After it rained, the driver side seatbelt released about 1 cup of water when I pulled the seatbelt. With my wife as the passenger, she was conflicted about wearing the seatbelt while having mold pressed against her body, clothes, and breathing it in. The smell of mold is now present in the vehicle. This problem has been reproduced via online reports at SiennaChat.com. No warning lamps, messages or symptoms appeared prior, or during, this issue. I am in the process of reporting it to Toyota as soon as the next business day (Monday).
Tire pressure monitor system dashboard icon is ridiculously non-intuitive. Both my wife and daughter have been baffled by it because the icon DOES NOT LOOK LIKE A TIRE! Neither are stupid, one is a college grad and the other is a junior at ASU. The icon is a cross-section of a tire, and none of them know what a tire cross-section looks like. Because of this, they have driven on dangerously under inflated tires without knowing it. Fix the icon SO IT LOOKS LIKE A TIRE! Thank you.
The van seems to prematurely wear tires out before their service life expectancy. I've owned the van for seven years, and I've had to purchase over five complete sets of tires. The front tires wear-out much faster than the rear tires, and do not last more than 15K miles. I've had several alignment jobs done, both (L&R) control arms replaced, ball joints, and struts - the van still wears out tires regardless of tire brand. I suspect the must be a design flaw causing premature wear and tear on tires on the front of the van, as I just replaced another set of tires from the Yokohama brand recommended for the van. I've asked Toyota, and they claim ignorance of such a problem. It is my desire to make this problem known, and to have the Government investigate if there is an design flaw in the Sienna van which is causing rapid part failures.

There was no warning light illuminated. The contact also stated that there was a traction control failure. Additionally, the vehicle failed to accelerate while entering the highway. The failure had been consistent for several years. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the mechanic was unable to replicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000.
I HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED BY PERSONAL MECHANIC BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD TIGHTEN AND THEN RELEASE WHENEVER TURNED TO RIGHT AND RELEASE ON LEFT TURN. THIS WOULD HAPPEN ON A REGULAR BASIS WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL. THE MECHANIC DID RECOMMEND THAT I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO CHECK IF THERE WAS ANY RECALL FOR THE PROBLEM. WHICH I DID. RESPOND WAS NO AND SO I EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM TO THE REPRESENTATIVE. THERE IS NOT A FAILURE OR INCIDENT EXCEPT THE STEERING WHEEL KEEPS ON TIGHTENING AND I'M JUST BEING CAUTIOUS. NO MANUFACTURER, POLICE, OR INSURANCE HAS INSPECTED IT BECAUSE THERE IS NO ACCIDENT. THANK GOD! JUST CONCERNED BECAUSE MY MECHANIC SAID IT IS SOMETHING FOR THE DEALERSHIP. SOMETHING TO DO POSSIBLY WITHIN THE STEERING COLUMN/CHANNEL COMPONENT. NOT SURE WHICH IS RIGHT, BUT TO CHECK FOR RECALL BY MANUFACTURER. I TOOK IT TO TIRE KINGDOM BUT SOMETHING ELSE WAS REPAIRED. SO I'M STILL HAVING TROUBLE WITH STEERING WHEEL STIFF TIGHTENING UP LIGHTLY. I WOULD FEEL IT TIGHTEN WHENEVER DRIVING 45 MILES OR MORE.
The rear electro magnetic coupler had to be replaced at 120000 miles. Online multiple complaints are listed for the same issue and Toyota has a recall issues for the same component for the RAV4. So why not for the Toyota Sienna xle ltd awd Thanks
Was driving my sienna down he highway, as I was passing someone I lightly accelerated and I heard a loud bang sound. Seconds later I see smoke coming out of the hood so I pull over, about 30 seconds before I pulled over the engine bursted into flames. When the vehicle came to a stop it would not unlock and me and my 2 kids were stuck in a burning vehicle, we barley made it out and my arm got burnt from it, this is the 4th time I’ve had a problem with the engine and 6th time the transmission has had problems. I’ve heard this happen on many other siennas yet it’s not recalled…
AFTER A SHORT 10-MIN DRIVE, PARKED THE VAN IN MY HOUSE'S DRIVEWAY. wHEN I STOPPED, SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF THE HOOD. WHICH DEVELOPED INTO FLAMES AND THE FRONT OF THE VAN WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. iMMEDIATELY CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PUT THE FIRE OUT. VAN IS TOTALY BURNT. MANAGED TO MOVE TWO OTHER VEHICLES AWAY FROM THE BURNING VAN. ALUMINUM SIDING NEXT TO THE GARAGE SUSTAINED HEAT DAMAGE.
The Toyota 2GR-FE 3.5L V6 engine have a verry comoon complaint of Blown Head Gasket under 100K miles. i own a 2014 sinenna and currently experiencing same issue at 89K miles. i looked online and found that so many people had the same issue and there was no action from the side of the company, they just waited for the 60K miles/5 year to be over so that they can deny the claim. the funny thing is that my vehicles's previous owner purchased an extended warranty which is still valid till September 2022 and the Company doesn't want to honor it. with this issue in mind i cannot take my vehicle for a long with my family, it puts life of my family at risk.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JOSEPH AIRPORT TOYOTA (1180 W NATIONAL RD, VANDALIA, OH 45377, (937)898-8060) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE DEALER FOR ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 111,423.
THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR DOES NOT OPEN PROPERLY ALL THE TIME, IT JAMS PARTIALLY OPEN. THE CAR IS STATIONARY AND NOT MOVING.

THE DRIVERS SEATBELT ON MY WIFE'S CAR STOPPED FUNCTIONING AND WILL NOT LATCH. NOTHING APPEARS TO BE STUCK IN IT. LOOKING INSIDE THE FEMALE PART, IT LOOKS LIKE IT HAS COME APART. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THE DEALER CANNOT EXPLAIN WHY IT BROKE.
MY SON WAS GETTING INTO THE VAN VIA THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR. HIS BACKPACK BUMPED THE SENSOR, AND THE DOOR OPENED AND FROZE HALFWAY OPEN. I DISENGAGED THE AUTOMATIC OPENING, BUT THE DOOR HAD DIFFICULTY CLOSING. I NOTICED THAT THE CABLE TO THE SLIDING DOOR HAD SNAPPED. I WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR, BUT NOW THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL.

ON OCTOBER 15TH AT APPROXIMATELY 3:30 PM (CT) MY 2014 TOYOTA SIENNA WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH THE ENGINE ON, UNATTENDED, WHEN IT MOVED FORWARD UP THE SLIGHT INCLINE OF MY DRIVEWAY, STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE AND KEPT MOVING FORWARD UNTIL IT STRUCK THE FRONT WALL OF THE GARAGE. PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT, I HAD REVERSED THE VAN OUT OF THE GARAGE AND LEFT THE VAN IGNITION ON AND IN PARK AS I EXITED. I KNOW FOR CERTAIN THAT THE VAN WAS IN THE PARK POSITION SINCE THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS LET ME EXIT THE VEHICLE WITHOUT HAVING TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THEM AND THE ALARMS DID NOT SOUND AS I EXITED. THE VAN ALSO DID NOT ROLL FORWARD IR BACKWARD AS I EXITED. I THEN WALKED IN FRONT OF THE VAN TO ENTER MY HOUSE THROUGH THE GARAGE. I WAS IN THE HOUSE FOR LESS THAN 5 MINUTES WHEN I HEARD THE LOUD CRASH OF THE VAN STRIKING THE GARAGE WALL. MY TOYOTA SIENNA WAS MANUFACTURED ON JUNE 6, 2014. AFTER THE ACCIDENT I DISCOVERED THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL (RECALL: TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE/ROLLAWAY/FMVSS 102) FOR AN ISSUE THAT CAUSES ROLLAWAYS EFFECTING CARS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN JUNE 17, 2014 THROUGH JUNE 24, 2014. I TOOK MY VAN TO TOYOTA EXPECTING MY ISSUE TO BE RELATED TO THIS RECALL. TOYOTA HAD THE BLACK BOX INSPECTED AND THE TRANSMISSION INSPECTED AND DETERMINED THEY WERE NOT LIABLE SINCE THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND DID NOT FIND ANY DEFECTS. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN ORIGINALLY THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE WAS NOT A GOOD WAY TO DETERMINE IF THE SHIFT CABLE WAS DEFECTIVE AND THEY WERE SIMPLY REPLACING THE PART AS PART OF THE RECALL, WHICH MY CAR DID NOT QUALIFY FOR SINCE IT WAS MANUFACTURED 11 DAYS PRIOR. A CAR SHOULD NEVER MOVE ITSELF FROM THE PARK POSITION AND SOMETHING HAS TO BE FAULTY WITH THE CAR IN ORDER FOR IT TO DO SO.
3 TIMES THIS YEAR, WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, REQUIRING ME TO APPLY AS MUCH BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE AS I COULD, AS WELL AS SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL TO STOP THE CAR. THIS HAS OCCURRED ONCE WHEN COMING UP TO A STOP SIGN, AND TWICE WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE. BOTH TIMES WHEN PULLING INTO THE PARKING SPACE, I WAS BARELY ABLE TO STOP IN TIME, ALMOST HITTING A CAR IN THE SPACE IN FRONT OF ME. AFTER THE LAST TIME THIS OCCURRED (7/3/2020), THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO ST. CHARLES TOYOTA ON 7/6, WHERE THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THIS STARTED JUST THIS YEAR; THE VEHICLE HAS APPROX. 70,000 MILES ON IT. WE HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE SINCE NEW - IT DID NOT DO THIS FOR THE FIRST 4.5 YEARS OF SERVICE.
OCCASIONALLY WHEN FROM A STOP OR AFTER SLOWING DOWN AND THEN ACCELERATING RAPIDLY, THE CAR DOES NOT DO ANYTHING AND ALMOST GETS REAR ENDED. I HAVE TOLD THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT IS NO UNUSUAL WITH TOYOTA'S..... DALLAS CORPORATE SAYS SEE DEALER. I JUST QUITE COMPLAINING AFTER A COUPLE YEARS, BUT WAS TOLD TO CHECK WITH YOU. MOST EVERY THING ELSE I LIKE ABOUT TOYOTA...
JUST BEFORE THE VEHICLE COMES TO A FULL STOP, THERE IS UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND I COULD SEE EVEN THE RPM(SCALE) TO SPIKE TEMPORARILY. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVERY TIME WHEN OUTSIDE TEMP IS COLD AND VEHICLE IS DRIVEN WITH COLD OR SLIGHTLY ABOVE COLD ENGINE TEMPERATURE. THERE IS A RISK OF HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE OR MEETING ACCIDENT IF MISJUDGE MY BRAKING BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER IT DOES IT EVEN ON HIGHWAY UNDER NORMAL TEMPERATURE WHILE I'M BRAKING OR SLOWING DOWN.
NOTHING HAPPENED TO THE VEHICLE, BUT NORTH HOLLYWOOD TOYOTA REFUSED TO REPLACE THE AIRBAGS ( AFTER WAITING IN THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR 5 HOURS) BECAUSE THEY SAID WE 'ALTERED' THE VEHICLE. IT IS A MOBILITY VAN PURCHASED THRU MOBILITYWORKS- WHO ADDED A RAMP FOR A WHEEL CHAIR. THE FRONT BUMPER AND DASH WERE NOT ALTERED.

CAR ACCELERATES WHEN TRYING TO STOP/ PRESSING BREAKS
I WAS DRIVING MY MINIVAN GETTING IN THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT JUST STOP RUNNING PERIOD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I COULD HAVE BEEN DEAD BY NOW SPECIALLY IN A HIGHWAY. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE VERY QUICK WHEN CAR DIED ON ME. I HAD TO PAY A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE MY VEHICLE HOME NOW TOYOTA DOES NOT WANT TO FIX IT. ALSO, SLIDING DOOR WON'T CLOSE. WHEN PRESSING DOOR BUTTON TO CLOSE, DOOR SLIDES RIGHT BACK. IT DOES NOT MAKE IT ALL THE WAY TO BE ABLE TO LOCK THE DOOR. THIS HAPPENED WHILE PASSENGER WAS GETTING IN THE VEHICLE WAS WE WERE NOT ABLE TO LOCK THE DOOR. I WAS PARKED ON THE STREET. UNFORTUNATELY, I DID NOT TAKE ANY PICTURES.
ON 12/20/19 IN MY 2014 TOYOTA SIENNA THE SLIDING DOOR NEXT TO MY 3 YEAR OLD OPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I WAS IN THE MIDST OF ACCELERATING AFTER A LIGHT TURNED GREEN WHEN THE CAR STARTED NOTIFYING ME THAT A DOOR WAS AJAR AND THE PASSENGER-SIDE SLIDING DOOR STARTED OPENING. THE DOOR OPENED FULLY AND REMAINED OPEN AS I WAS AT SPEED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. NOTE THAT ALL DOORS WERE CLOSED AND LATCHED BEFORE I PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE, AND THIS ONLY OCCURRED AFTER A FEW MILES OF DRIVING. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE LATCH ASSEMBLY IN BOTH SLIDING DOORS. THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T TELL ME WHAT FAILED OR IF THE REPLACED LATCHES WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM, SO I CALLED TOYOTA CORP. I LEARNED THAT TOYOTA ALREADY KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE. WHEN I ASKED IF THEY COULD ASSURE ME THAT THE SLIDING DOORS WOULDN'T OPEN WHILE DRIVING AGAIN, THEY COULDN'T. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T CONFIRM THAT THE LATCHES WERE THE PROBLEM, AND WHILE THE REPLACEMENT LATCH HAS A DIFFERENT MODEL NUMBER THAN THE ORIGINAL, THEY DON'T KNOW IF IT IS IN FACT A DIFFERENT PART AND IF SO, HOW. THE ONLY ASSURANCE THAT TOYOTA COULD GIVE ME IS THAT 'OF THE PEOPLE IN YOUR REGION THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO, IT HASN'T HAPPENED A SECOND TIME THAT WE KNOW OF'. THE MORE QUESTIONS I ASKED, THE CLEARER IT BECAME THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ISSUE IS ENTIRELY DIFFERENT FROM THE '16 RECALL THAT INVOLVED SLIDING DOORS OPENING WHILE DRIVING (ALL ASSOCIATED RECALLS HAD BEEN PERFORMED BY TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT). WE HAD NOT PREVIOUSLY REPORTED THIS TO NHSA AS WE HAD ASSUMED THAT TOYOTA REPORTED THIS INCIDENT AS PART OF OUR CASE WITH THEM.
I have a 2014 Toyota Sienna (as indicated by VIN number) and I currently reside in the United Kingdom on US military orders. After getting notice from the NHTSA about the fact that my vehicle had an open recall I contacted my local Toyota dealership here in the UK. I was able to have the affected parts replaced after they were shipped from the US. However, the UK Toyota dealership has been unable to update the NHTSA database due to being outside the US. We have been trying to correct this issue through Toyota and the NHTSA for well over a year but no progress has been made. I have paperwork that shows the recall work was carried out. Please help me figure out how to get this updated. My family has received orders to return to the US but we are unable to ship our vehicle with an open NHTSA recall.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO FUNCTION WHEN USING THE POWER BUTTON. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANUALLY OPEN AND CLOSE THE SLIDING DOOR FROM THE EXTERIOR HANDLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V858000 (STRUCTURE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
AFTER ABOUT 60,000 MILES MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES WITH CODE P0012 EVERY 1,000 MILES AND WHEN I TAKE IT TO TECHNICIAN THEY FIND NOTHING WRONG AFTER RESETTING. THEN AGAIN IT RANDOMLY APPEARS AND HAS BEEN DOING SUCH FOR THE LAST 10,000 MILES. FRUSTRATING. ALSO THE FRONT BRAKES SQUEAL EVERYTIME I TOUCH THE BRAKE PEDAL REGARDLESS OF WHICH PADS I USE OR IF THEY ARE NEW OR USED.
TAKATA RECALL. MY 2014 TOYOTA SIENNA WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY GOING A STEADY 75 MPH. AND THE TRAC OFF LIGHT WENT ON AND WE TRIED TURNING IT OFF LIKE WE USUALLY DO WHENEVER WE TURN IT ON ON ACCIDENT. AND AFTER A MILE DOWN THE HIGHWAY IT STARTED FUMING INTENSELY SO WE STOPPED AT A GAS STATION.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HOOVER TOYOTA (2686 JOHN HAWKINS PKWY, HOOVER, AL 35244) TO BE REPAIRED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DISCLOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
WITH THE CAR IN PARK AND ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR, IT REFUSES TO OPEN AND STOPS ABRUPTLY DURING THE SLIDE ONLY OPENING A FEW INCHES (NOT ENOUGH TO RENDER THE OPENING USABLE) BECAUSE THE FUEL DOOR IS NOT SUFFICIENTLY CLOSED TO DEPRESS THE PUSH BUTTON THAT TELLS THE VAN'S SYSTEM THAT THE FUEL DOOR IS FULLY SHUT. THUS THE SLIDING DOOR STOPS ABRUPTLY (AS PROGRAMMED) TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH AN OPEN FUEL DOOR. HOWEVER, THAT IS NOT THE CASE HERE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION IT IS NOTICED THAT THE SPRING ON THE PUSH BUTTON HAS SUCH A SEVERE STIFFNESS THAT THE FUEL DOOR'S HINGE SYSTEM WAS NOT DESIGNED DURABLE ENOUGH TO COMPENSATE FOR THE OUTWARD LOAD EXERTED BY THE PUSH BUTTON WHEN THE FUEL DOOR IS CLOSED AND LOCKED. FOR THIS REASON, THE FUEL DOOR HINGE, OVER TIME, EXPERIENCES A FATIGUE FAILURE AT THE TOP OF THE HINGE ONLY. THAT IS TO SAY, THE LOWER HALF OF THE HINGE REMAINS CONNECTED AND OPERABLE WHILE THE TOP HALF OF THE HINGE SHEARS IN TWAIN. NOW SHEARED, THE FUEL DOOR IS PUSHED FREELY AWAY BY THE PUSH BUTTON AND THE TOP FORWARD MOST CORNER OF THE FUEL DOOR PROTRUDES PAST THE VAN'S PROFILE BY HALF AN INCH OR MORE. IT IS THE FAILURE OF THE FUEL DOOR HINGE, CREATED BY THE OVERDESIGN OF THE SPRING ON THE PUSH BUTTON, THAT ALLOWS THE DOOR TO NOT OPEN PROPERLY DESPITE THE DRIVER DOING EVERYTHING TO KEEP THE PATH OF THE DOOR CLEAR. UNFORTUNATELY, FOR EMBARKING, THIS RENDERS THE SLIDING ACCESS POINT AS DIFFICULT AS YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY PUSH AGAINST THE FUEL DOOR WHEN OPENING THE SLIDING DOOR UNTIL IT HALFWAY OPEN. FOR DISEMBARKING THIS IS THE SAFETY HAZARD, AS THERE IS NO WAY TO "RIG" THE SYSTEM TO OPERATE FROM THE INSIDE AND DURING EMERGENCY EGRESS FROM THE VEHICLE. IF THE PASSENGER DOOR IS BLOCKED OR BROKEN AS THE RESULT OF A HAZARD OR CRASH, OCCUPANTS IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE CAN BECOME TRAPPED INSIDE BEING FORCED TO CLIMB INTO THE FRONT SEAT OR TRUNK

PURCHASED CERTIFIED PREOWNEN-21KMILES- REPORT GAVE TIRES OK- PAID $26K- TIRES ROTATED 1/2019 NO WORD OF TIRE DRY ROT- MARCH 2019 TOLD 1/4 IN TREAD AND ROT STARTING. READ CARGURUS ON LINE AND 20 PAGES OF E-MAIL REPORTS OF TIRE FAILURES AT 20-30K MILES ON SIENNAS- MULTIPLE REPLACEMENTS NECESSARY. NO DISCLOSURE OF THIS ONGOING PROBLEM BY DEALER. THIS PRESENTS DANGER ON THE ROAD IF TIRES NOT REPLACED AND ECONOMIC HARDSHIP TO CAR OWNERS.
I TOOK MY TOYOTA SIENNA VAN TO TOYOTA OF PHARR TO HAVE MY PASSENGER AIR BAG REPLACE DUE TO A RECALL. I MADE A SCHEDULE APPOINTMENT ON AND IT WAS COMPLETED, HOWEVER, SERVICE PERSON INFORMED ME THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE MY ' CONTROL ARM ' REPLACED AS WELL. HE STATED IT IT WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY AND NO RECALL ON IT. THE COST TO HAVE IT DONE IS $2,381.07. I ASKED HIM HOW DID THIS HAPPENED. HE STATED IT'S THE DRIVING CONDITION AND MILES. I TOLD HIM MY WIFE IS RETIRED AND HARDLY DRIVES IT AND ONLY DRIVES IT ON PAVE ROAD. ALSO, IT ONLY HAS 70,000 MILES. I TOLD GENTLEMAN THAT THAT WAS TOO MUCH MONEY. I ASKED HIM IF IT'S SAFE TO DRIVE AND SAID YES. DO, I BROUGHT IT HOME. MY WIFE AND I ARE STILL PAYING FOR OUR VEHICLE AND HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN? CAN YOU PLEASE CHECK IF THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS PART? THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
CABLE ON DRIVER SIDE SLIDING POWER DOOR IS DEFECTIVE. DOOR NO LONGER FUNCTIONS PROPERLY.
TAKATA RECALL AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. HAD DIAGNOSTIC SCAN RAN AND FOUND CODE FOR SQUIB CABLE OR CLOCK SPRING IS BAD. CAR IS ONLY FIVE YEARS OLD WITH A LITTLE OVER 60K MILES. THIS CABLE IS MANUFACTURER BUILT FOR THIS SPECIFIC VAN AND COST ALMOST $700! I CAME IN FOR A RECALL ON MY TAKATA PASSENGER AIRBAGS AND WOUND UP DROPPING MORE MONEY! I HAVE WAITED FOR ALMOST A WEEK FOR RECALL. NOW I'M WAITING LONGER FOR THIS REPLACEMENT.
