WATER LEAKS INTO DRIVER SIDE WIDOWS PILLAR ON TO SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS AS WELL AS LEFT REAR SECOND AND THIRD ROW SEAT AND THIRD SEAT AIR BAGS CURTAINS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE QUARTER PANEL WINDOW EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER (COURTESY TOYOTA OF BRANDON, 9210 E ADAMO DR., TAMPA, FL 33619, (813) 639-8045) WAS CONTACTED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,857.
VIBRATION WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE. TOYOTA ISSUED A TSB: T-SB-0045-14. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. IT IS UNSAFE.
AFTER WE GOT THE RECALL WITH THE SLIDING REAR DOORS FIXED, THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR WON'T CLOSE ANYMORE. IT WILL GO SO FAR AND THEN BEEP AND OPEN UP AGAIN. I FEEL THAT IT'S A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR ONLY 3 YEARS, WE SHOULDN'T BE HAVING THESE KINDS OF PROBLEMS WITH IT.
WE PURCHASED THE SIENNA NEW OFF THE LOT IN 2015, AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD 5 TIMES DUE TO CRACKS, AND IT'S ALREADY CRACKED AGAIN. SOMETIMES IT CRACKED DUE TO PEBBLES OR ROCKS HITTING IT, BUT OTHER TIMES IT JUST CRACKED SPONTANEOUSLY. ONCE IT CRACKED OUT OF NOWHERE, AND ANOTHER TIME IT WAS WHEN WE SPRAYED IT WITH LOW-PRESSURE WATER.
SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY BURST ON JUNE 6, 2018, AROUND 7:25PM, MY FAMILY AND I WERE HEADING HOME A STORE, GOING NORTH ON MO-65 AT ABOUT 65 MPH IN SPRINGFIELD, MO. JUST SOUTH OF BATTLEFIELD RD, WE HEARD A LOUD "POP" SOUND. WE THOUGHT OUR DAUGHTER HAD HIT HER METAL THERMOS AGAINST THE BACK WINDOW. WHEN WE ARRIVED HOME, HOWEVER, I HEARD A CRACKLING SOUND AND TRACED IT TO THE SUNROOF, WHICH WAS SHATTERED (LIKE A SPIDER WEB) AND BULGING AT THE TOP. SINCE THEN, AS OF 9AM THE FOLLOWING DAY, IT HAS CONTINUED TO BULGE MORE, WITH A COUPLE OF SMALL PIECES OF GLASS HAVING POPPED OUT ONTO THE TOP OF THE GLASS. IT HAS NOT YET COLLAPSED INTO THE CAR, BUT I AM LEAVING THE SUNROOF SHADE CLOSED SO THE GLASS DOESN'T FALL INTO THE CABIN. OF NOTE, THE WEATHER WAS MOSTLY SUNNY, TEMPERATURE AROUND 80F. THE SUNROOF WAS CLOSED, AS WAS THE SUNROOF SHADE. TRAFFIC WAS FAIRLY LIGHT IMMEDIATELY AROUND US. THERE WERE NO LARGE TRUCKS NEARBY. NO ROCKS OR GRAVEL WAS HITTING THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR, AND THERE WERE NO OTHER SOUNDS OF ANYTHING HITTING THE CAR.
WHEELCHAIR VAN CONVERSION GONE WRONG. I HAVE IT DOCUMENTED. THE STATE OF OHIO SPENT $109 THOUSAND I SPENT $40 THOUSAND. THE VAN IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE DOCUMENTS FROM THE TOYOTA DEALER THAT THE STEERING TURN MORE LEFT THAN TURNS TO THE RIGHT. I HAVE MORE DOCUMENTS. *LN *TR
FROM 2016 AND UNTIL HE RECEIVED HIS CONVERTED 2015 TOYOTA SIENNA IN FEBRUARY 2018, OSU OUTPATIENT REHAB WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSESSING [XXX]'S DISEASE PROGRESSION AND ENSURING THAT HE WAS ABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE HIS MODIFIED VEHICLE.*DT*DT OPPORTUNITIES FOR OHIOANS WITH DISABILITIES ADMINISTERS A VEHICLE MODIFICATION PROGRAM, WHEREBY DISABLED CONSUMERS PURCHASE A VEHICLE SUITABLE FOR ADAPTATION AND OOD CONTRACTS AND PAYS FOR VEHICLE TO BE RETROFITTED WITH ADAPTIVE EQUIPMENT. UNDER OHIO ADMINISTRATIVE CODE 3306-6-02 (MOTOR VEHICLE MODIFICATIONS, SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS.WISHING TO PARTICIPATE IN OOD'S VEHICLE MODIFICATION PROGRAM, [XXXX] PURCHASED A 2015 TOYOTA SIENNA FOR $37,657.25. OOD CONTRACTED WITH NOW MOBILITY WORKS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF ADAPTIVE EQUIPMENT. OOD PAID MC MOBILITY $95,210 IN TWO INSTALLMENTS. THE FIRST PAYMENT OF $89,690 OCCURRED JANUARY 22, 2018. A SECOND PAYMENT OF $5,520 HAPPENED ON MARCH 20, 2018. ON DECEMBER 27, 2018, INGENIUM ENGINEERING'S PRINCIPAL, GEORGE W. HICKS, INSPECTED THE MODIFIED VAN. MR. HICKS IDENTIFIED A FEW IMPORTANT DEFICIENCIES. HE WROTE THAT AN ACCELERATOR PEDAL GUARD MUST BE INSTALLED PER 'OHIO VEHICLE MODIFICATION RULES' AND THAT THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT WHILE DRIVING. ON 2-15-18 OSU HOSPITAL MEDICAL RECORDS. OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANT KAITLIN FINCH MADE NOTES ON PAGE 38 THE VAN SHOULD HAVE FAILED INSPECTION NON-WORKING EQUIPMENT. THE PARAVAN SPACE STEERING DID NOT WORK CORRECTLY AND VAN RELEASED. MOBILITY DID NOT CALIBRATE PARAVAN STEERING DUE TO BAD INSTALLATION OF COLUMN THE WHEELS TURN MORE LEFT THAN TURN RIGHT. TWO INSPECTION REPORTS WERE GIVEN TO OOD CONTRACTING OFFICE. THE OOD CONTRACTING OFFICE PAID FOR THE HANDICAP EQUIPMENT AND THE EQUIPMENT WAS IN NON-WORKING CONDITION. THE VEHICLE WAS DELIVERED TO MR. DIFFICULT TO TURN STEERING WHEEL AT LOW SPEED ESPECIALLY WHEN STARTING UP FROM STOP
BOUGHT VEHICLE NEW, LIVE IN FLORIDA WITH NO POTHOLES, ETC. THE VAN IS EXTREMELY HARD ON TIRES, FIRST SET OF MICHELIN PRIMACY MXV4 TIRES LASTED TO 26,500 AND WERE SHOT. REPLACEMENT MICHELIN PREMIER LTX TIRES ARE SHOT IN 20,000 MILES. BOTH OF THESE MICHELIN TIRES WERE SUPPOSED TO LAST 60,000 MILES EACH. NEVER ANY DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE, I AM THE ONLY DRIVER, BUT I JUST SPENT CLOSE TO $800 AT AN ALIGNMENT SHOP GETTING CAMBER KITS AND SHIMS INSTALLED AND ONE NEW FRONT STRUT ALL TRYING TO GET THE VEHICLE ALIGNMENT INTO FACTORY SPECS. AGAIN, NEVER ANY DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AND ALL TIRES WORE OUT RELATIVELY EVENLY, JUST WAY TOO PREMATURELY. FIRST PROBLEM IN MY OPINION IS THAT ALL VEHICLES SHOULD HAVE ALIGNMENT ADJUSTMENT ABILITY BUILT IN, THERE SHOULD NOT BE NEED FOR CAMBER BOLT KITS AND SHIMS FOR THE REAR AXLE. NEXT PROBLEM IS THIS EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR ON TOYOTA SIENNA'S IS CLEARLY DOCUMENTED ALL OVER THE INTERNET, SO THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM, BUT A WIDE SPREAD TOYOTA PROBLEM. TOYOTA SHOULD RESOLVE THIS FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS.
I AM A DISABLED FEDERAL EMPLOYEE. I HAVE A NEW HANDICAP CONVERSION VAN FROM VMI VANTAGE MOBILITY INT. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THE SUSPENSION IS HORRIBLE
STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WHEN WE HEARD AN EXPLOSION, CONTINUED TO DRIVE WHEN WE BECAME AWARE OF NOISE AND WHAT APPEARED TO BE RUSHING WIND . AFTER CHECKING ALL DOORS AND WINDOWS AND FINDING THEY WERE CLOSED I JUST HAPPENED TO SLIDE OPEN THE COVER LEADING TO THE SUN ROOF AND SAW THE EXPLODED WINDOW AND GLASS FRAGMENTS.
TL* THE CONTACT CALLED ON BEHALF OF THE OWNER OF A 2015 TOYOTA SIENNA. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE TRACTION INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND AN ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE PLAZA TOYOTA DEALER (2721 NOSTRAND AVE, BROOKLYN, NY 11210, 347-983-5652) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH AN UNKNOWN WIRING FAILURE DUE TO RODENTS ENTERING THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE OWNER HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED, BUT WAS UNAWARE OF THE REPAIR SPECIFICS. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE MONTHS LATER AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRING WAS DESTROYED AGAIN BY RODENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,382.
STEERING WHEEL BECOMES DIFFICULT TO TURN MAKING IT HARD TO STEER - ALMOST HAVE TO "FORCE" IT TO TURN. HARD TO DUPLICATE - SEEMS INTERMITTENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL GOES DIM, ALMOST DARK. RANDOM ALSO
FUEL DOOR LATCH HINGE IS BROKEN AT THE TOP OF THE HINGE. POSSIBLY, IT CAUSED BY THE DOOR LATCH SAFETY WITH EXCESSIVE TENSION. IT DISABLED THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR. DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED AND IT CAUSED EXITING ISSUE FOR CHILDREN AND OCCUPANTS IN THE CAR. CAR'S MILEAGE IS AT 27,000 MILES. FUEL DOOR OPENED DURING IN MOTION AND/OR STATIONARY.

FOR THE VEHICLES INVOLVED IN PHASE 1, ANY AUTHORIZED TOYOTA DEALER WILL REPLACE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK AND INSTALL NEW WIRE HARNESSES CONNECTING IT TO THE POWER SLIDING DOORS. IF APPLICABLE, THE DEALER WILL ALSO UPDATE THE VEHICLE'S OWNER'S MANUAL TO MATCH THE UPDATED EQUIPMENT. THESE REMEDIES WILL BE PROVIDED AT NO CHARGE 1RECALLSASSOCIATED WITH THIS VIN
I HAVE A BRAND NEW TOYOTA SIENNA AND THE TIRES SEEM TO START SHOWING SIGN OF WEARING OFF IN 6 MONTHS, AS IF IT HAS ALIGNMENT ISSUES OR SOMETHING. THE CAR DOES NOT PULL TO ONE SIDE OR ANYTHING. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT IT COULD BE THE TIRE PRESSURE THAT NEEDS TO BE KEPT UP AND THEY SAID THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO MAKE SURE IF THE PRESSURE IS GOOD? ALSO THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TIRES THESE DAYS ARE SOFTER SO THEY DON'T LAST AS LONG? THIS ALL SEEMS A LITTLE HARD FOR ME TO BELIEVE. OEM TIRE WARRANTY UP TO 60K BUT NOT LAST LONG . JUST CHANGE NEW SETS OF TIRE WITH ALIGNMENT . TOYOTA ENGINEERING NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE
POWER SLIDING DOOR RECALL PHASE 2 WITH WHEELCHAIR RAMP. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. WE RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE OVER A YEAR AGO WITH NO REMEDY YET. I HAVE CALLED MULTIPLE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND THERE IS STILL NO ETA. I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF THEY ARE WORKING TO RESOLVE THIS OR THEY HAVE JUST DECIDED THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT DISABLED VETERANS.
BROUGHT VEHICLE INTO DEALER FOR ROUTINE SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE. SERVICE TECHNICIANS INFORMED ME THAT THE BRAKE ROTORS WERE "SEVERELY SCORCHED" AND "WARPED," AND RECOMMENDED IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT OF ALL PADS AND ROTORS. TECHNICIAN ASKED IF I TOW A TRAILER OR ROUTINELY HAUL HEAVY ITEMS, NEITHER OF WHICH I HAVE EVER DONE; TECHNICIAN THEN ASKED IF I RIDE MY BRAKES WHEN I DRIVE, WHICH I DO NOT. VEHICLE HAS 29K MILES AND IS USED ONLY FOR CITY DRIVING FOR JUST MY WIFE AND I (AND OCCASIONALLY MY SON'S FAMILY, WHICH CONSISTS OF TWO ADULTS AND TWO CHILDREN), BUT I HAVE NEVER DRIVEN THIS VEHICLE IN AN ABNORMAL FASHION. I DIDN'T NOTICE ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY WHILE I DROVE IT, SO I CONSIDER MYSELF LUCKY THE TECHNICIANS CAUGHT THE DAMAGE BEFORE THE BRAKES FAILED. THIS IS THE FORTH VAN I HAVE OWNED BUT MY FIRST TOYOTA, AND I'VE NEVER HAD A BRAKE ISSUES WITH ANY OF MY PREVIOUS VEHICLES--NOT EVEN THE VAN THAT I DROVE BACK AND FORTH TO WORK 50+ MILES A DAY AND CROSS-COUNTRY THREE TIMES, RACKING UP WELL OVER 100K MILES.
THE DASHBOARD SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER GAUGES CANNOT BE ILLUMINATED WITHOUT TURNING ON PARKING OR HEADLIGHTS. THESE GAUGES CANNOT BE SEEN DURING THE DAY WHEN THE DASHBOARD IS SHADOWED. ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED ON SIENNA CHAT BOARDS AND NUMEROUS TOYOTA SERVICE DEPARTMENTS.
POWER SLIDING DOOR RECALL. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY LETTER/EMAIL ON THE STATUS OF THE RECALL SINCE THE INITIAL NOTIFICATION. IS IT MY RESPONSIBILITY TO CONTACT TOYOTA ON THE STATUS OF THE RECALL PARTS?
EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR ON FRONT OUTSIDE TIRES. WHEELS/TIRES HAVE BEEN BALANCED AND ROTATED THEIR WHOLE LIFE. ALIGNMENT OF VEHICLE IS GOOD. TIRES HAVE BEEN CONSTANTLY MONITORED TO REMAIN THE RECOMMENDED PRESSURE OF 36 PSI. LIFESPAN OF TIRES IS SUPPOSED TO BE 60000-80000 MILES. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT 26000, AND TIRES ARE SHOT. THIS IS CLEARLY A FLAWED DESIGN. VEHICLE IS ADULT DRIVEN.
CRYSTAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ON ROUTE 22, GREEN BROOK, NJ DID RECALL WORK ON MY CAR. BUT ITS SAY NOW COVER UNDER MANUFACTURE WARRANTY, OWNER HAS TO PAY FULL AMOUNT AS ITS GOT SALVAGE TITLE OF CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO DEACTIVATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT IMPACT COLLISION. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A SEVERE HEAD INJURY, THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED A BROKEN NOSE AND CRACKED RIBS, AND THE REAR SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 13,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
WE BOUGHT OUR 2015 TOYOTA SIENNA LE ALL-WHEEL DRIVE IN FEBRUARY 2015. AT 16,000 MILES, WE TOOK IT IN FOR MAINTENANCE BECAUSE IT WAS SHAKING DURING BRAKING. WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND NEEDING REPLACED. THEY WERE REPLACED. AT 22,000 MILES, THE WHEEL INFLATION SIGNAL KEEPS COMING ON EVERY OTHER DAY AFTER REFILLING AIR INTO ALL TIRES; WE INSPECTED THE TIRES AND FOUND THAT THE TWO REAR TIRES WERE VERY WORN ON THE INNER SIDE OF THE TIRES. WE TOOK IT TO SHEEHY TOYOTA OF FREDERICKSBURG AGAIN FOR MAINTENANCE. WE WERE TOLD THAT IT NEEDED ALIGNMENT AND 4 NEW TIRES. WE WERE ALSO TOLD THAT THE TIRES WOULD NOT BE COVERED BECAUSE FACTORY TIRES FROM DEALERSHIPS WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. BUT THE MAIN CONCERN IS THAT, AT JUST 22,000, THERE'S ALREADY ROTOR ISSUES AND ALIGNMENT ISSUES FROM JUST NORMAL DRIVING. NEVER DROVE IN GRAVEL OR ROUGH ROADS. I BELIEVE THERE'S AN ISSUE WITH THE 2015 SIENNA LINE OF VANS, REGARDS TO BRAKE ROTORS AND ALIGNMENT PROBLEMS. IT'S A BIG SAFTEY CONCERN FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. AND IT'S DISAPPOINTING TO HEAR THAT TOYOTA WILL NOT COVER ALIGNMENT ISSUES, THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS STILL SO NEW. IT COULD HAVE BEEN TRAGIC IF WE DIDN'T CATCH THE WORN TIRES THIS SOON. FOR THE RECORD, WE HAD NEVER MISSED AN OIL CHANGE OR SCHEDULED ROUTINE MAINTENANCE.
PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR CONSTANTLY MALFUNCTIONING. IT OPENED AFTER A BUMP WHILE TRAVELING 65 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. WE HAD TO PULL OVER TO CLOSE THE DOOR. IT ALSO DEPLOYED THE WHEELCHAIR RAMP WHILE MOVING BECAUSE THE POWER DOOR IS THE SAME SIDE AS THE RAMP.. MAKE THE MANUFACTURER FIX IT OR MAKE THE WHEELCHAIR CONVERSION COMPANY FIX IT. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO FIX THIS BEFORE SOMEBODY DIES! ALL THIS RED TAPE AND ZERO ACTION IS INSANE. PEOPLE ARE GETTING INJURED WHILE THE FINGER POINTING IS HAPPENING. WHEN WILL SOMETHING BE DONE? HOW MANY INJURIES HAVE TO OCCUR BEFORE AN ACTION STEP OCCURS?

IN DAYLIGHT, WHEN HEADLIGHTS ARE OFF OR AUTOMATIC, THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT ILLUMINATE. WITH HEADLIGHTS ON, ILLUMINATION IS VERY FAINT AT ITS MAXIMUM SETTING. THE DISPLAY IS SO DARK THAT IT CANNOT BE RELIABLY READ. WITH SUNGLASSES, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER. NOTE, THIS IS AN ANALOG SPEEDOMETER, AND THIS MODEL DOES NOT HAVE AN ADDITIONAL DIGITAL SPEED DISPLAY. AN INTERNET SEARCH INDICATES THAT THIS PROBLEM IS UNIVERSAL FOR THIS MODEL/YEAR (NOT A DEFECT IN MY VEHICLE). IT CREATES A HAZARD BECAUSE ONE CANNOT EASILY DETERMINE SPEED. (AT NIGHT THERE IS NO PROBLEM, SINCE THE DASHBOARD LIGHTING IS SUFFICIENT IN THOSE CONDITIONS.)

THE CONTACT EXPLAINED THAT THE SIENNA VEHICLE'S OWNERS MANUAL INDICATED THAT THE WARNING INDICATOR WAS SUPPOSED TO ACTIVATE WHEN THE VEHICLE'S DOOR WAS OPENED AND SHIFTED OUT OF PARK. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,800.
THE DASH WAS RANDOMLY FREEZING FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND THEN RESET ITSELF WHILE DRIVING. ONCE IT RESET ITSELF, IT WENT BACK TO THE DEFAULT SETTINGS. IT WAS AT HEART CITY TOYOTA MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. EACH TIME THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT GET IT TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AFTER DROPPING IT OFF IN APRIL OF 2017, THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT HE WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM OF THE DASH RESETTING. HE DID A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND A HARD-RESET IN ORDER TO TRY FIXING IT. LOW AND BEHOLD, TWO DAYS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. AFTER HAVING IT AT HEART CITY TOYOTA TO HAVE THE PROBLEM WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT FLICKERING, FOR THE FIFTH TIME, FIXED, I REPORTED ABOUT THE DASH STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM OF RESETTING ITSELF. THE MANAGER OF HEART CITY TOYOTA TOLD ME AT THAT POINT THAT I AM NOT WELCOME BACK TO THEIR DEALERSHIP. AFTER CONTACTING TOYOTA CORPORATE ABOUT THIS, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO REFUSE SERVICE EVEN WITH THE WARRANTY STILL PRESENT. THEY EXPLAINED THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE IT TO ANOTHER TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. SO I CONTACTED JORDAN TOYOTA AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION. THE SERVICE MANAGER THERE INFORMED ME THAT IF HEART CITY TOYOTA WAS NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, THEN THEY WERE NOT GOING TO START FROM SCRATCH TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM THEMSELVES. THREE WEEKS LATER, WHILE DRIVING ON A COUNTY ROAD, THE DASH BEGAN TO SMOKE AND I PULLED OFF OF THE ROAD. WHEN IT BEGAN TO SMOKE EVEN MORE, I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND AS I WAS GETTING AS FAR AWAY AS I COULD I SEEN FLAMES. I CALLED 9-1-1 RIGHT AWAY. BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO GET THERE AND EXTINGUISH THE FIRE, THE VAN WAS DESTROYED. WHICH ENDED UP BEING A TOTAL LOSS. ALL OF WHICH SEEMED TO BE DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL FIRE IN THE DASH. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT.

SHOULDER STRAPS OF PASSENGER MID-SECTION SEATS HAVE LOST TENSION AND DO NOT RELIABLY RETRACT, POSSIBLY DUE TO EXTENDED CAR SEAT INSTALLATION (BRITAX PINNACLE CLICKTIGHT, WAS INSTALLED FOR PROLONGED PERIOD IN HARNESS MODE). LACK OF SHOULDER STRAP TENSION IS A SEVERE HAZARD AS I ATTEMPTED TO CONVERT BRITAX PINNACLE CLICKTIGHT TO BOOSTER MODE BUT FOUND THAT CHILD COULD LOOSEN THEIR SHOULDER STRAP AND BE SITTING IN BOOSTER MODE SEAT WITH A LOOSE SHOULDER STRAP THAT IS NOT HOLDING THEM TIGHT AND SECURE AT THE SHOULDER.
THEIR IS A RECALL ON THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS BUT TOYOTA HAS FAILED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. THE BACK DOORS UNLATCH AUTOMATICALLY AND HAVE PROPELLED OPEN TWICE WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY CHILDREN!! IT TURNS OUT THEY ONLY PRESSED THE POWER SWITCH ON MY DASH BOARD AND THE DOORS CONTINUE TO UNLATCH AUTOMATICALLY. I WILL MANUALLY CLOSE THE DOOR AND ONCE DRIVING I HEAR THEM TRYING TO OPEN. I'VE HAD TO PULL OVER AND MANUALLY SHUT THEM TIGHT BUT LAST NIGHT IT FLEW OPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITHOUT ANY WARNING THAT IT HAD UNLATCHED!! I STOPPED AT A GAS STATION AND WAS PARKED WITH THE CAR ON, AND I REACHED UNDER MY FRONT PASSENGER SEAT (MANUAL SEAT) AND RECEIVED A 20 AMP SHOCK FROM ONE OF THE WIRES UNDER THE SEAT. SLIDING DOOR RECALL PAPER ADVISED TO TURN OFF THE AUTOMATIC DOOR FEATURE. I HAVE DONE SO. WHEN CLOSING SIDE SLIDING DOOR, IT DOES NOT LATCH PROPERLY. THREE TIMES I HAVE HAD THE DOOR SLIDE OPEN WHEN PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, BECAUSE THE DOOR FAILED TO LATCH PROPERLY. CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATE, AND THEY DID NOTHING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THEY DO NOT HAVE AN ETA ON WHEN THE AUTOMATIC DOORS WILL BE FIXED. THIS POSES A HUGE SAFETY RISK FOR MY 2 CHILDREN. I'M WORRIED THAT THE DOORS MAY OPEN WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD OR HIGHWAY. I HAVE ASKED CORPORATE IF THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO HELP FACILITATE GETTING ME OUT OF THE SIENNA AND INTO A DIFFERENT VEHICLE, BY PROVIDING SOME FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. I DID NOT ASK FOR A "BUY BACK". I SIMPLY ASKED IF THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO GIVE ME $2-$3K ASSISTANCE AS A GESTURE OF GOOD FAITH TO ENSURE THAT MY KIDS COULD REMAIN SAFE. THEY DECLINED. EVEN AFTER LEARNING OF THE DOOR ISSUES THAT I HAVE SPECIFICALLY HAD, THEY DID NOT SEEM TO CARE .... AT ALL ..... THAT THEY DOORS ARE OPENING UNPROMPTED AND THEY DID NOT OFFER TO LOOK AT THE DOORS AND TRY TO FIX THEM, EITHER. APPARENTLY THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE SLIDING DOOR ON THE SIENA CAN COME OPEN WHILE THE VAN IS IN MOTION ENDANGERING THE OCCUPANTS. IN THIS CASE, THE OCCUPANTS ARE OUR FOUR YEAR GRANDSON, WHO HAS DOWN SYNDROME, AND THREE YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER. TOYOTA HAS DECLINED TO DISCLOSE WHETHER THERE HAVE BEEN ANY ACCIDENTS, INJURIES OR DEATHS DUE TO THIS DEFECT. THEY ARE WORKING ON A FIX BUT DO NOT HAVE A SOLUTION. TOYOTA'S RECOMMENDATION IS TO DISENGAGE THE ELECTRONIC DOORS. WE VIEWED THAT ADDITIONAL COST OPTION AS A SAFETY AND CONVENIENCE FACTOR FOR OUR DAUGHTER-IN-LAW. I WAS TRAVELING WEST ON RT 202 (BUTLER BLVD) IN JACKSONVILLE, FL. MY SPEED WAS 65MPH AND I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE. I WAS DRIVING AND MY SON, CHRISTOPHER, WHO IS DISABLED WAS SITTING IN THE MIDDLE ROW CENTER IN HIS WHEELCHAIR WHICH WAS ANCHORED TO THE FLOOR BY FOUR TIE-DOWNS. A CAR TRYING TO PASS US IN THE OUTSIDE LEFT LANE HIT MY VEHICLE IN THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR AND CAUSED US TO SPIN IN THE ROADWAY. AFTER WE CAME OUT OF THE SPIN WE HIT THE CONCRETE BARRIER DIVIDING THE ROADWAY. MY VEHICLE WAS TOTALED WITH EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO FRONT AND FRAME. MY SON AND I WERE SLIGHTLY INJURED BUT NOT TREATED ON THE SCENE. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY? NOT THE ONES IN THE FRONT OR THE SIDE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY? THIS IS A CONVERSION ACCESSIBLE VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN ALTERED FROM THE ORIGINAL. I HAVE RE-PURCHASED THE SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE AND I WANT TO BE SURE THAT THE AIRBAGS ARE WORKING?
