ALL FOUR TIRES HAVE REOCCURING "FEATHERING" OR CUPPING ON THE OUTER TREADS. MANUFACT. BLAMES OUT OF ALIGNM--DEALER CHECKED TWICE AND IT WAS OK (09/13/2000 @ 5114 & EARLIER). TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED TWICE ALREADY SINCE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK (BUY @ 1,866 MI). TIRES ROTATED AT 3128 & 7123 MI). I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE INVICTA GL (OEM) ON MY PREVIOUS VEHICLE--THE EFFECT WAS THE SAME AS WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW. MANU CONTINUAL DENIAL OF POSSIBLE FLAWS IN DESIGN. ON A SIDE NOTE, THE TIRES DO NOT LOOK LIKE THEY WILL LAST OVER 20K MI. WITH MY LAST VEHICLE THEY ONLY LASTED TO ABOUT 13K. DATE OF 2ND FAILURE: 03/01/2001. MILEAGE OF 2ND FAILURE: 9965. TURN SIGNAL FAILED TO ACTIVATE ON BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF INITIAL MORNING STARTUP. DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO ACTIVATE A NUMBER OF TIMES FOR BOTH LEFT TURN AND RIGHT TURN BUT THE SIGNALS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE.*AK
CONSUMER STATED THAT IT HAD BEEN IMPOSSIBLE TO INSTALL CHILD SAFETY SEAT ON REAR SEAT. HOWEVER, OWNER MANUAL AND CUSTOM REPRESENTATIVE SAID THAT CHILD SEAT COULD BE INSTALLED. BUT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO DO SO BECAUSE A CHILD SEAT INSPECTOR SAID THAT NO CHILD SEAT COULD BE INSTALLED IN THIS VEHICLE. *AK
A CRASH OCCURRED AT AN INTERSECTION WHERE MY VEHICLE BROADSIDED ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT HAD PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS TRAVELLING AT APPROX 50 MPH AND WHEN WE HIT IT CAUSED THE OTHER VEHICLE TO ROLL OVER ONTO IT'S TOP. NEITHER FRONT DRIVERS SIDE OR PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AT ANYTIME DURING THE ACCIDENT.*AK
I PURCHASED A TOYOTA TACOMA FROM ONE ELEVEN VITAGE CARS ON 01-16-01. THEY HOWEVER DID NOT DISCLOSE THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A MISSASEMBLED REAR AXLE WHICH WAS CAUSING REAR BRAKE PROBLEMS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS .I HAVE GIVEN THE COMPANY SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNDER SAID WARRANTY, ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT VEHICLE HAD THIS PROBLEM PRIOR TO MY PURCHASING IT. THE WIRE HARNESS STOPPED WORKING , POWER TO THE TRAILER WAS OFF. RECALL 01E041000 TRAILER TOWING WIRE HARNESS. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM. CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED AT THIS POINT BECAUSE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT WARRANTY FOR RECALL. ALSO IT WAS AN AFTER MARKET PRODUCT. *AK

I PURCHASED A 2000 TACOMA IN THE MONTH OF JULY. I HAVE NO PROBLEMS EXCEPT FOR THE GOODYEAR TIRES. THE GOODYEAR TIRES HAVE BEEN FOUND DEFECTIVE BY SEARS AUTOMOTIVE AND TOYOTA AND SHOULD BE REPLACED ASAP. FOR MORE THAN A MONTH, I HAVE CONTACTED GOODYEAR REGARDING THE PROBLEM, BUT UNDER MY WARRANTY, I TOOK MY 2000 TACOMA TO A LOCAL DEALER. WHILE DRIVING MY NEW TRUCK ON THE 5 FWY SUN. 10/29/00 APP. 4:30 PM. WITH MY SUN ROOF IN THE OPEN POSITION, WITHOUT WARNING, THE SUN ROOF BLEW OF THE TOP WITH CONSIDERABLE PRESSURE. SHATTERING ON THE FRONT HOOD & WINDSHIELD OF THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME. THIS TOOK CHIPS OUT OF THE PAINT & WINDSHIELD OF THE VEHICLE OF THE 2ND PARTY. UPON PRESENTING THIS TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WHOM I PURCHASED FROM, THIER REPLY WAS DISBELIEF & THAT THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY. THIS IS ONE ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING SOUTHBOUND AT 45MPH AN AUTO PULLED INTO TRAFFIC DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME. I DID NOT HAVE TIME TO BRAKE, AND STRUCK VEHICLE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AT 45. IMPACT SPUN BOTH VEHICLES INTO THE CENTER LANE. TRUCK FRONT TIRES WERE MOVED BACK INTO THE FIREWALL,AND TENTIRE FRONT END MUST BE REPLACED. TRUCK FRAME WAS DAMAGED TO THE EXTENT THAT THE FRAME MUST BE REPLACED. TTHE DRIVERS AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND WAS NOTED BY THE POLICE, AND RESCUE STAFF. DRIVER OF THE AUTOMOBILE WAS PINNED INSIDE, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE THREE TIMES IN THE LAST THREE WEEKS. EACH TIME I WAS TOLD A REPRESENTATIVE WOULD INSPECT THE VEHICLE. YESTERDAY I AGAIN CONTACTED TOYOTA AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT INSPECT THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT AT A DEALERSHIP. I WANT TO KNOW WHY A VEHICLE THAT SUSTAINED THIS KIND OF FRONT END DAMAGE DID NOT HAVE AIRBAGS THAT DEPLOYED. THANK YOU. *AK

PE00020, ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON 2000, TOYOTA, TACOMA, 16 INCH TIRE. WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS A LOUD THUMPING NOISE AND VIBRATION ON THE STEERING DUE TO TWO FRONT TIRE BELTS THAT BROKE, AND SEEMED THAT TREAD WAS SEPARATING. TOYOTA WAS WILLING TO REPLACE ALL 5 TIRES, INCLUDING THE SPARE. *AK

WHILE TRAVELING AT 50 MPH CAR IN FRONT OF CONSUMER'S VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED AND CONSUMER REAR ENDED THE OTHER VEHICLE. FRONT OF VEHICLE WAS PUSHED IN APPROXIMATELY 6 TO 8 INCHES, AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER, AND THEY SAID THAT IMPACT DIDN'T TOUCH AIRBAG SENSOR. CONSUMER FELT SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED.*AK
SUSPENSION IS DEFECTIVE. WHENEVER VEHICLE HITS A BUMP VEHICLE WILL REBOUND TWICE. SHOCKS WILL BOUNCE OFF OF BUMP, INSTEAD OF CONTROLLING IT. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS UNDER SERIOUS WHEATHER CONDITIONS, AND CAN CAUSE CONSUMER TO LOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE. *AK

THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED ALL FOUR SHOCKS AND HAS HAD THE TRUCK ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASSIONS. THEY SAID THEY CONTACTED TOYOTA AND WAS TOLD NOT TO DO ANYTHING ELSE. THE DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGES THERE IS A PROBLEM, BUT WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE UNDER THE WARRANTY, BECAUSE TOYOTA SAID NOT TO. THE VEHICLE IS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT THIS TIME. IT IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. I HOPE THAT YOU CAN PLEASE HELP ME. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. THIS IS MY 3RD TOYOTA TRUCK SENSE 1988. THE DRIVER'S SEAT APPEARS TO EITHER 1) NOT BE FASTENED SECURELY TO FLOOR, OR 2) HAVE A FAULTY COMPONENT WHICH ALLOWS MOVEMENT BETWEEN THE SEAT BOTTOM AND BACK REST. I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO A NEARBY DEALERSHIP FIVE TMES. THE REPAIR WORK ONLY PROVIDED A TEMPORARY FIX. THE PROBLEM IS ACCOMPANIED BY A LOUD CREAKING NOISE SIMILAR TO AN OLD DOOR ON RUSTY HINGES. TOYOTA'S CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER HAS ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER 200009110317. THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED TO MY LAST WRITTEN COMPLAINT.
VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE SITTING IN DRIVEWAY FOR TWO HOURS AFTER LAST USE. FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED WITH EXTINGUISHER. SPORT CITY TOYOTA WOULD NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE ON TRADE UNTIL AFTER A LETTER FROM GULF STATE TOYOTA DECLARED THERE WAS NO FIRE. DETERMINATION WAS MADE BY TEIR INSPECTOR. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT SPORT CITY WAS AWARE OF THE FIRE. SPORT CITY WOULD NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE ON TRADE DUE TO CONCERNS OF ASSUMING LIABILITY. TOYTA NATIONAL REFUSES TO RECOGNIZE THERE WAS A FIRE. TRADED THE TRUCK AT A DIFFERENT TOYOTA DEALERSHIP (FOWLER TOYOTA). FIRST APPRAISAL FORM NOTED THE TRUCK HAD BEEN ON FIRE. THAT FORM WAS DESTROYED AND NEW ONE WAS ISSUED WITH NO MENTION OF THE FIRE. TOYOTA AND ITS DEALERSHIPS HAVE DONE THEIR VERY BEST TO COVER THIS UP. I WILL BE PURSUING OTHER AVENUES TO RECOVER MY LOSSES. *AK
MY DRIVER SIDE MIRROR IS HARD TO FOCUS AND I AM WRITING THIS BECAUSE THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AND I AM IN DANGER BY DRIVING A TRUCK WITHOUT THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR, SO FAR I WAS GOING TO HAVE TWO ACCIDENTS. I TALKED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CHANGED THE MIRROR FOR ME. THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. IT IS HARD TO FOCUS ON WHAT IS ON THE MIRROR AND IT BOTHERS MY EYES. ON THE FIRST DAY I HAD A RED EYE AND A LITTLE BIT OF PAIN. AFTER THAT I COULDN'T USE MY MIRROR. THE MIRROR IS CLOSED SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SHOWED ME COUPLE OUTER TRUCKS, IT WAS SAME TING I ASKED WHAT SHOULD I DO THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY CAN NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE AND I SHOULD CALL TOYOTA. I CALLED THERE AND THE DAY AFTER SOMEBODY FROM THE DEALERSHIP (TONI HALL) CALLED ME AND SHE MADE AN APPOINTMENT ON WEDNESDAY 3/8/00 1:30 P.M. TO MEET SOMEBODY FROM TOYOTA (MR. FRED GILBERT). I WENT THERE AND AFTER HALF OF AN HOUR OF WAITING AND SEARCHING FOR SOMEBODY TO HELP ME, AT 2:00 P.M. MR. FRED GILBERT CAME. AND HE DECIDED TO TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE. HE TOLD ME NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT (MAYBE BECAUSE IT WAS RAINY THAT DAY AND HE DIDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEM OR). HE SAID IF YOU WANT CALL TOYOTA AGAIN. I CALLED AND TOLD THEM THE SITUATION, THAN THEY SENT ME A LETTER (DECISION REMAINS OUR FINAL POSITION). NOW I AM WRITING THIS BECAUSE THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AND I AM IN DANGER BY DRIVING A TRUCK WITHOUT THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR, SO FAR I WAS GOING TO HAVE TWO ACCIDENTS. CHEMICAL REACTION OF SULFURIC ACID WITH PLATED METALS OF BRAKE CASING PRODUCED TOXIC FUMES THAT WERE INHALED OVER AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME PRODUCING SEVERE FRONTAL SINUS PAIN, CONGESTION, BLEEDING, AND HEADACHE. THE BATTERY HOLD DOWN CLAMP WAS OVERTORQUE AT THE FACTORY AND RESULTED IN THE FRACTURE OF THE DELCO BATTERY CASING. SULFURIC ACID DRAINED OUT OF THE BATTERY CASING AND SPILLED ONTO THE FENDER WELL, DRIVER SIDE TIRE, BRAKE CASING,AND UNDER CARRIAGE. THE PLATED METAL SURFACES WERE DISOLOVED. I DROVE THE VEHICLE APPROX. 6 HOURS TO ST. LOUIS AND WAS FEELING ILL UPON ARRIVING.

THREE WEEKS AGO I PURCHASED A 2000 TOYOTA TACOMA PRERUNNER WITH FIRESTONE 265X75X15 WILDERNESS AT TIRES ON IT. AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE I QUESTIONED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE TIRES AND ASKED THEM IF THE TIRES ON THE TRUCK WERE AFFECTED BY THE RECALL THAT WAS IN PLACE. THEY TOLD ME NO IT WAS JUST THE SMALLER 235X75X15 TIRES THAT WERE ON RECALL AND THE OTHER ONES WERE SAFE TO USE. WELL ONE WEEK AGO I WAS WASHING MY NEW TRUCK WHEN I NOTICED A SMALL CRACK GOING ALL THE WAY AROUND ONE OF THE TIRES LIKE WHERE THE CARCASS AND THE TREAD WOULD MEET, UPON FURTHER INSPECTION I FOUND THAT ALL FOUR TIRES HAD A CRACK GOING ALL THE WAY AROUND THE TIRE IN THE SAME SPOT BETWEEN WHERE THE TREAD MEETS THE CARCASS OF THE TIRE! THE FOLLOWING MONDAY I WENT TO MY LOCAL FIRESTONE DEALSHIP LIKE THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP I HAD BOUGHT THE TRUCK TOLD ME TO DO AND EXPRESSED MY CONCERN OVER THE SAFETY OF THE TIRES ON THE TRUCK. THEY INSPECTED THE TIRES AND SAID THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THEM, THEY'RE NOT ON THE RECALL LIST AND THAT IF I WANTED THEY WOULD SELL ME A NEW SET TO EASE MY MIND. WELL THIS DID NOT EASE MY MIND. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO, EVEN THE 6 YEAR 100,000 WARRANTY ON THE TRUCK DOES ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD. PLEASE HELP, I DO NOT WANT TO BE ANOTHER FIRESTONE VICTIM.( DOT NUMBER: W269 TIRE SIZE: 265X75X15 )

IT'S DANGEROUS TO DRIVE TRUCK WITH LOW BEAMS ON. ALL LIGHT IS FOCUSED 20-30' IN FRONT OF TRUCK. NO SCATTER LIGHT GOES BEYOND THAT. I'VE ALMOST GONE THROUGH INTERSECTIONS ON DARK ROADS. JOGGERS AND SCHOOLKIDS SUDDENLY APPEAR IN FRONT OF THE TRUCK ON DARK MORNINGS. HIGH BEAMS ARE FINE. I THINK THERE WILL BE A LOT MORE ACCIDENTS AND PEDESTRIAN INJURIES WITH THESE HEADLIGHTS.
PRIOR TO RECALL CONSUMER REPLACED ALL FOUR FIRESTONE WILDERNESS (225-75R-15) TIRES, DUE TO TIRES HAVING A 4 TO 5 INCH SPLIT BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND TREAD, CONSUMER WAS ADVISED THAT HIS TIRES WERE NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL BECAUSE BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT MANUFACTURED IN DECATUR IL. *JB

VEHICLE IS SOLD WITH "CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM" HOWEVER, NOTHING IS IN PLACE TO STOP SOMEONES HEAD FROM STRIKING THE GLASS IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT AND DURING ACCELERATION.
