THERE HAS BEEN A CONSISTENT PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT BRAKES IN MY 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THEY GO OUT APPROXIMATELY EVERY 20,000-25,000 MILES AND THEY ALSO GET MUSHY FOR NO DISCERNIBLE REASON. THERE HAS BEEN A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED ON THIS PROBLEM STATING THAT THERE IS A DESIGN PROBLEM DICTATING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE FRONT BRAKE ASSEMBLY INCLUDING THE CALIPERS BACK PLATE ETC. THE TOTAL FOR THIS WORK IS OVER $1100.00. MY MECHANIC STATED THAT IF IT WERE AN AMERICAN CAR THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND THE WORK DONE AT THE AUTO COMPANIES EXPENSE... I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK NEW AND THE EXPENSE OF REPLACING THE BRAKES SO OFTEN IS A FINANCIAL BURDEN TO ME AND I DEFINITELY CANNOT AFFORD $1100.00 TO HAVE THE BRAKES REPLACED. WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HIT A CLIFF HEAD ON. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES. *AK
TOYOTA TUNDRA BRAKES PULSATE AND THE WHOLE TRUCK VIBRATES WHEN STOPPING. DEALER IS UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM.*AK
I TOO HAVE THE SAME BRAKING PROBLEMS AS EVERY ONE ELSE. I NOW HAVE 65,000 MILES AND HAVE HAD ROTORS TURNED ONCE AND JUST INSTALLED NEW FRONT ROTORS. ALSO REPLACED FRONT AND REAR BRAKES. NOW TOYOTA SAY THE WILL DO THE TSB FOR A $200.00 DEDUCTIBLE. I WANT IT DONE FOR NOTHING. I WON'T STOP UNTIL THEY DO IT RIGHT. *LA
MY 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA HAS A RECURRING BRAKE ISSUES THAT HAVE BEEN IGNORED BY THE DEALERSHIP IN NC, AS WELL AS CORPORATE TOYOTA. I HAVE HAD THE FRONT ROTORS MACHINED IN THE PAST WHILE THE INTERMITTENT REAR BRAKE LOCK UP HAS BEEN CHALKED UP AS "UNABLE TO REPRODUCE" BY THE DEALER. SO, TO THIS DAY IT HAS GONE UNREPAIRED. AT THIS TIME, TOYOTA TELLS ME THAT ALL OF MY BRAKING COMPONENTS NEED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THEY WILL ONLY PAY FOR 50% OF THE COSTS ($2500.00), SINCE MY WARRANTY HAS NOW EXPIRED EVEN THOUGH I HAVE ONLY 34,000 MILES ON MY TRUCK. THE TUNDRA'S BRAKES HAVE BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED AS HAVING SEVERE PROBLEMS, BUT A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED. I FEEL THIS TRUCK IS UNSAFE AND I WILL NOT SUBJECT MY FAMILY MEMBERS TO SUCH A VEHICLE. *LA
I OWN A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA AND I AM EXPERIENCING EXTREME BRAKING VIBRATION. THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD AS "FACTORY CERTIFIED." THE PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND THE ROTORS TURNED. TOYOTA AND THE DEALERSHIP HAVE BEEN CONTACTED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, BOTH HAVE STATED THAT SINCE MY VEHICLE IS BEYOND THE MILEAGE LIMITS FOR THE SERVICE BULLETINS THAT I HAD NO RECOURSE. MY VEHICLE DOES FALL WITHIN THE RANGE (VIN NUMBER) FOR THE TOYOTA SERVICE BULLETIN. HOW CAN YOUR ORGANIZATION, IN GOOD FAITH, CONTINUE TO IGNORE A PROBLEM THAT IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE? THIS IS NOT A MANUFACTURING ISSUE, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE! *LA
PULSATING BRAKES, THAT THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT CORRECT. *LA
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA. HE STATED THAT THE FRAME UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN COVERED WITH RUST FOR TWO YEARS. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION DUE TO THE RUST. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE SHOCKS COULD SNAP AND COME THROUGH THE BED OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE RUST IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH TOYOTA TUNDRAS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20000 THE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47000.
WE OWN A 2000 TUNDRA. WE RECENTLY TOOK IT TO THE SHOP BECAUSE THE TRUCK WOULD SHAKE WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE MECHANIC TURNED THE ROTORS AND REPLACED THE PADS. AFTER ABOUT A WEEK THE SHAKING WAS BACK. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE SAME SHOP AND THE MECHANIC SAID THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM HE EXPERIENCES WITH TUNDRAS. WE ARE VERY WEARY ABOUT DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AS WE USE IT PRIMARILY TO DRIVE OUR CHILDREN FROM PLACE TO PLACE. E'VE READ SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE BRAKES ON THE TUNDRAS. IT'S UNFORTUNATE THAT SOMEONE HAS TO DIE BEFORE A DECISION IS MADE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.*AK
I HAVE A HORRIBLE VIBRATION PROBLEM WHEN BRAKING. THIS IS CAUSED BY TOYOTA RELEASING BRAKE CALIPERS THAT ARE TOO SMALL. I HAVE HAD MY BRAKE PADS REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES, MY ROTORS REPLACED, AND THERE THE PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY FOR ABOUT A WEEK OR TWO. THEN THE PROBLEM COMES RIGHT BACK. TECHNICIANS HAVE SUGGESTED THAT I REPLACE THE CALIPERS FOR LARGER CALIPERS. THIS ISSUE IS CAUSED BY TOYOTA'S DESIGN FLAW, NOT MY USE OF THE TRUCK. TOYOTA SHOULD RECAL THE BRAKE CALIPERS FOR 2000 TUNDRAS. THEY OBVIOUSLY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM AS THEY HAVE RELEASED SEVERAL TSBS REGARDING THIS AND THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM ON THE 2001 MODEL. IT'S REDICULOUS THAT YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO GET INJURED BEFORE TOYOTA WILL ACT ON THIS. REPEATED PROBLEMS WITH BRAKE VIBRATION ON 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA. REPAIRS COMPLETED PER TSB'S BY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN 2001 UNDER WARRANTY. BRAKE VIBRATION PROBLEM RETURNED LESS THAN 15,000 MILES LATER. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT AFFECTS THE PERFORMANCE OF THE BRAKES. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL EFFORT BY TOYOTA BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED DUE TO BRAKE FAILURE. *LA
I HAVE A SEVERE VIBRATION IN THE VEHICLE WHEN BRAKING FROM 30 MPH OR HIGHER. I HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED AND ROTORS RESURFACED. THE VIBRATION REAPPEARS WITHIN A MATTER OF DAYS. AN ASE MECHANIC DID ALL THE WORK AND USED ORIGINAL TOYOTA PARTS. THE LAST TIME I TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR REPAIR, I WAS ADVISED THAT MY CALIPERS WERE THE CULPRIT AND THAT IT WOULD COST NEARLY $1,000 TO REPLACE THEM. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY DEALER FOR WARRANTY SERVICE ON THIS ITEM SINCE THE TRUCK HAD UNDER 60,000 MILES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO PAY FOR COMPLETE SYSTEM REPLACEMENT. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A VEHICLE WHERE THE BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDED REPLACEMENT WITH 50,000 MILES. MY RESEARCH HAS REVEALED MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED DUE TO BRAKE FAILURE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 10 TO 15 MILES AN HOUR DRIVETRAIN LOCKS UP AND VEHICLE SKIDS TO A STOP. DEALER SAYS IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, AND CANNOT DUPLICATE. THEY HAVE HAD THE TRUCK FOR TWO WEEKS. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE ON THE 19 OF SEPTEMBER AND THE 19TH OF OCTOBER. FROM AROUND 5:30 TO 6:00 PM. I WILL DROVE IT ON THE 19TH OF NOVEMBER HOPING IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. COMPUTER AND BACKUP COMPUTER CHECKS OKAY, NO METAL IN ANY OF THE DRIVETRAIN COMPONENTS. THIS IS A 4X4 SR5 2000 TUNDRA. *AK

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. AFTER 2 ATTEMPTS FROM MECHANIC AND FAILURE, LAKESIDE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, NEW ORLEANS LOUISIANA SAYS OIL SLUDGE BUILDUP DUE TO NEGLECT. WE HAVE MECHANIC RECORDS/RECEIPTS THAT OIL WAS CHANGED TIMELY.
LETTER TO TOYOTA: WE JUST HAD OUR DAUGHTER'S 2000 TUNDRA IN FOR BRAKE SERVICE AT THE DEALER. THE BRAKES HAVE A VIBRATION AND ARE IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER HAS SAID THAT TOYOTA WOULD REPLACE THE BRAKES IF: 1) WE LIVE IN A MOUNTAINOUS REGION (WE DO) AND 2) THE TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 36,000 MILES (55,700). DEALER WANTED $2000+ FOR UPDATED FRONT CALIPERS AND WHEEL BEARINGS. OUCH! OUR DEALER ALSO SAID THAT TOYOTA HAS ACKNOWLEGED THAT THE BRAKES ON THESE VEHICLES WERE UNDER-DESIGNED FOR MOUNTAIN DRIVING. MY DAUGHTER HAS EXPERIENCED A SEVERE SHAKING PROBLEM WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, MY DAUGHTER IS AN AVID SNOWBOARDER AND REGULARLY TRAVELS OVER MOUNTAIN PASSES IN WINTER TO SKI AREAS. WE ARE SCARED TO DEATH TO HAVE HER DRIVE THIS TRUCK ANYMORE. CLEARLY THIS IS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE BUT IS A DESIGN PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY TOYOTA REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE. HANDLING YOUR MISTAKE IN THIS MANNER IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO THOSE OF US WHO PURCHASED YOUR VEHICLE IN GOOD FAITH IN FACT, WE HAVE PURCHASE 3 TOYOTAS IN THE PAST FOUR YEARS AND I CAN ASSURE YOU, THIS IS OUR LAST. LEFT REAR LEAF SPRNG SNAPPED WHILE DRIVING CASUALLY ON CENTRAL STREET IN WINCHENDON. THE SPRNG SUBSEQUENTLY BEAT UP AGAINS THE GAS TANK. THE DEALER, NORM WAGNER TOYOTA VOLKSSWAGEN REFUSED TO ACCEPT ANY RESPONSBILTY FOR THE REPAIRS THE VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 4100 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. I WOULD CONSIDER THIS A MAJOR PROBLEM WHEN THIS HAPPENS AS THE GAS TANK COULD HAVE RUPTURED CAUSING SEVERAL POSSIBLE ACCIDENTS. *AK

WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKES THE PEDAL PULSATED RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE RESPONSE. *AK *NM
VEHICLE IS A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA ACCESS CAB SR5. FROM THE TIME THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW, I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM ON THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED WITH THE CONVENIENCE PACKAGE, WHICH INCLUDES POWER LOCK DOORS. THE DOOR WILL UNLOCK AT SPEEDS ABOVE 60 MPH. THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR WILL ACTIVATE ON THE DASH AND THE POWER DOOR LOCKS WILL UNLOCK. THE ONLY WAY TO RESOLVE THIS CONDITION IS TO STOP THE CAR IN A SAFE AREA, GET OUT AND OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOORS FIRMLY. THIS OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY, BUT SEEMS TO OCCUR ON ROUGH ROADS, AND SNOW ROAD CONDITIONS.
BRAKES MAKE ENTIRE VEHICLE SHUDDER STRONGLY IF USED IN MOUNTAINOUS REGIONS WHERE HIGHER USE RATES CAUSE THE SYSTEM TO OVER HEAT. TOYOTA OF EASILY CLAIMS THAT AS A TSB ONLY, THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO DO OUT-OF-WARRANTY REPAIRS. I NOTICED THE PROBLEMS WITHIN WARRANTY BUT DID NOT MAKE A REPORT TO MY DEALER. I ASKED IF THEY WOULD SELL ME THE PARTS AT COST. NO. I EMAILED TOYOTA NATIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ASKED THE SAME QUESTION. NO RESPONSE. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A SAFETY DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE A RECALL NOT A TSB. IF THERE WAS NOT AN ENGINEERING FLAW, WHY DO THEY HAVE NEW CALIPERS AND BACKING PLATES FOR THE TSB? THEY SHOULD AT LEAST PROVIDE THESE PARTS AT COST TO OUT-OF-WARRANTY CONSUMERS, RATHER THAN AT THEIR INFLATED LIST PRICE OF NEARLY $1,000 (PARTS ONLY). *JB
WE OWN A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA PICKUP. WHILE RESEARCHING THE TETHER STRAP SYSTEM BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SIDE IT WAS BROUGHT TO OUR ATTENTION THE GUIDE BAR HAS AN OPENING FACING TOWARDS THE DOOR THAT DOES NOT ALLOW FOR THE TETHER STRAP TO BE HELD SECURELY. WE HAD THE DEALER LOOK AT THIS AND WAS TOLD ALL TUNDRAS ARE MADE THIS WAY AND THAT IT IS NOT A DEFECT AND THAT IT COULD NOT BE CHANGED. THIS CONCERNS ME THAT I CANNOT UTILIZE ALL SAFETY FEATURES OF MY CAR SEAT IN THE PICKUP. I NEED TO HAVE TWO CAR SEATS IN THE TRUCK SO SIMPLY PUTTING THE CAR SEAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS NOT AN OPTION. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A WAY FOR THAT GUIDE BAR TO BE PUT IN CORRECTLY SO THAT IT WOULD GUIDE THE STAP TO THE TETHER ANCHOR THAT IS AVAILABLE ALONG THE SIDE OF THE FLOOR. OTHERWISE THERE SHOULD NOT BE AN ANCHOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE SINCE IT CANNOT BE INSTALLED CORRECTLY BECAUSE OF THE GUIDE BAR ISSUE AS IT NOW STANDS.
BRAKE VIBRATION AND EXCESSIVE BRAKE WEAR. BRAKES WERE SERVICED AT ABOUT 38,000 MILES DUE TO SEVERE VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING. PROBLEM RETURNED AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS. BRAKES REPLACED AGAIN AT 68,000 MILES AND VIBRATION HAS AGAIN RETURNED. THERE IS A VIBRATION AND ROUGH BRAKING WHEN SLOWING DOWN FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS.*AK
I AM A OWNER OF A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA SR5. I HAVE HAD MY MY BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED TWICE WITHIN THE LAST THREE YEARS. EVERY FEW THOUSAND MILES INTO A NEW SET OF BRAKES AND ROTORS THE TRUCK BEGINS TO PULSATE AND VIBRATE UNDER MODERATE BRAKING SITUATIONS, USUALLY ON FREEWAYS AND HIGHWAYS. THE SENSATION IS RATHER SCARY AND VIOLENT AT TIMES. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT A COMPANY SO WELL RESPECTED AS TOYOTA WOULD ALLOW THIS PROBLEM TO EXIST WITHOUT OFFERING ANY REMEDY OR RECALL CAMPAIGN. AT JUST OVER TWO YEARS OWNERSHIP OF MY 2000 TUNDRA (IN OCT 2002), I BEGAN TO NOTICE A VIBRATION WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. NOT RECOGNIZING THE PROBLEM AS A WARRANTY ISSUE, I TOOK MY TRUCK TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. THEY INDICATED THAT THE FRONT DISCS WERE PROBABLY WARPED AND THAT TURNING THEM WOULD DO THE TRICK. AFTER THE FRONT BRAKE JOB, THE PROBLEM REMAINED. I THEN TRIED NEW TIRES AND A WHEEL ALIGNMENT WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. IT WAS AFTER ALL OF THIS THAT I LEARNED THAT THIS IS A TUNDRA-WIDE PROBLEM. WHEN I INQUIRED WITH TOYOTA TO HAVE THE REPAIRS COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY, THEY INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT HELP IN THE COST OF MY REPAIRS BECAUSE I WAS OVER THE 36,000 MILES OF MY WARRANTY. WITH FOUR TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ISSUED ON THIS MATTER PRIOR TO OCT 2002 (AND ONE JUST AFTER), TOYOTA KNEW THEY HAD A TUNDRA BRAKE PROBLEM. CONSIDERING THE SERIOUSNESS OF A FLAWED BRAKING SYSTEM, I BELIEVE, TOYOTA HAD A MORAL OBLIGATION TO IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY ALL TUNDRA OWNERS OF THEIR DEFECTIVE BRAKES. IF TOYOTA HAD DONE SO IN A RESPONSIBLE AND TIMELY MANNER, THIS MATTER WOULD HAVE BEEN RESOLVED PRIOR TO THE EXPIRATION OF THE 36,000 MILE PORTION OF MY WARRANTY. IT WAS ONLY THROUGH THEIR GROSS NEGLIGENCE THAT IT WAS NOT. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, THE ENTIRE BRAKING SYSTEM, BOTH FRONT AND REAR, WAS NOT ENGINEERED PROPERLY. I FURTHER UNDERSTAND THAT REPAIRS ARE TO BE ACCOMPLISHED WITH REPLACEMENT PARTS THAT ARE NOT THE VEHICLES ORIGINAL PARTS. THIS CLEARLY INDICATES THAT MY BRAKE PROBLEM IS NOT DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR BUT IS DUE DIRECTLY TO A DEFECTIVELY DESIGNED BRAKE SYSTEM. I REQUEST THAT THIS MATTER BE FULLY INVESTIGATED AND IF ITS DETERMINED THAT TOYOTA MARKETED A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE, THEY SHOULD BE HELD FULLY AND SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL NECESSARY REPAIRS, REGARDLESS OF WARRANTY EXPIRATION. *AK

2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA EXHAUST MANIFOLDS LEAKING. JULY 3. 2003 A TOYOTA DEALER TOLD ME MY EXHAUST MANIFOLDS WERE WARPED AND LEAKING. MILEAGE AT THAT TIME WAS 30763. AFTER APPROX. 3 MONTHS OF TRYING TO GET TOYOTA TO COVER THE COMPLETE COST TO REPLACE, THEY FINALLY AGREED TO FURNISH THE PARTS FREE OF CHARGE AND I PAY THE LABOR OF $662.18. I FEEL THAT TOYOTA SHOULD COVER ALL COSTS. *JB
I AM AN ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA SR5 WITH 40,000 MILES AND I LOVE IT. MY CAR STARTED SHAKING PROBLEM SINCE THE FIRST 5,000 MILES AND HAS HAD 3 BRAKE JOBS DONE BY BRAKE MASTERS. I WAS TOLD THAT ROTORS WOULD BE WARPED AFTER 2,000 3,000 MILES REGARDLESS OF THE REPAIR JOB DONE. THIS MAKES ME BELIEVE THAT IT IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND A FLAW IN THE ENGINEERING DESIGN OF THIS VEHICLE. A VEHICLE THIS NEW SHOULD NOT HAVE ROUTINE BRAKE PROBLEM CONTINUOUSLY. AFTER AN EXTENSIVE RESEARCH, I FOUND OUT THAT THE NEWER MODELS OF THE SAME TRUCK ARE EQUIPPED WITH BIGGER CALIPERS TO ABSORB THE VIBRATION. THIS IS AN INDICATION THAT TOYOTA TUNDRA 2000 SHOULD BE RECALLED DUE TO THIS DEFECT. THIS OUTSTANDING PROBLEM (WITH MANY UNHAPPY CUSTOMERS THAT CAN BE FOUND ON THE WEB) CAN CREATE SERIOUS HAZARD ON THE ROAD. I OWN A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA. MY COMPLAINT IS VERY SIMILAR TO MANY OTHERS, IT CONCERNS THE FRONT BRAKES OF THIS VEHICLE. MY BRAKES ARE WARPING UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND HAVE BEEN TURNED ONCE, ONLY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM RETURN IN DAYS. THE BRAKES BEGAN TO CAUSE VIBRATION WHEN SLOWING OR STOPPING THE TRUCK. THIS STARTED AROUND 35,000 MILES. THE ROTORS WERE RE-SURFACED AND THE BRAKE PADS REPLACED. AT ABOUT 45,000 MILES THE BRAKES WERE CAUSING THE TRUCK TO SHAKE EXCESSIVELY ONCE AGAIN. THE ROTORS WERE RE-SURFACED AND THE BRAKING WAS SMOOTH FOR ABOUT 8,000 MILES. AT ABOUT 60,000 MILES I WAS FORCED TO BUY NEW ROTORS DUE TO THE TRUCK VIBRATING EXCESSIVELY WHEN SLOWING OR STOPPING. THE BRAKES ON THIS TRUCK ARE NOT ROBUST ENOUGH FOR THE VEHICLE WEIGHT AS THE ROTORS ARE WARPING PREMATURELY AND THE BRAKE PADS ARE WEARING UNEVENLY WITH NORMAL DRIVING. *TR
CRACKED MANIFOLD, WILL BE REPLACED WITH AN IDENTICAL PART WHICH IS VERY LIKELY TO ALSO CRACK AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIR. A MANIFOLD SHOULD NOT CRACK AT 60K MILES! *NLM

THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, AND DETERMINED THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A LACK OF OIL IN THE VEHICLE.*AK
2000 TUNDRA SERIOUS FRONT END VIBRATION. DISCOVER ROTORS WERE WARPED AFTER ONLY 35,000 MILES. DEALER SAID IT IS NOT FROM EXCESSIVE BRAKING BECAUSE PADS WERE AT 50%. TOYOTA HAS BEEN AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAS REDESIGNED BRAKES FOR THE VEHICLE AND RELEASED SEVERAL SERVICE BULLETINS ON THE MATTER. BUT NOW I AN 4 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY ARE CHARGING 1500 DOLLARS FOR A REPAIR THAT SHOULD BE A RECALL. THE VIBRATION IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. A VEHICLE THIS NEW SHOULD NOT HAVE ROUTINE BRAKE PROBLEMS EVERY 30,000 MILES. THE ARE QUITE A FEW UNHAPPY TUNDRA OWNERS SHOWING UP ON THE NET. *NLM

UNFORTUNATELY I WAS NOT ABLE TO CONTACT TOYOTA FOR REPAIR UNTIL TWO DAYS PRIOR TO THREE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF PURCHASE, HALF HOUR BEFORE CLOSING AT A WEEKEND. TOYOTA REFUSES TO FIX MY PROBLEM, HELPFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE SAID THAT I WAS OUT OF LUCK. BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY WOULD HAVE EXPIRED BY THE TIME I COULD TAKE IT IN.

THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE CALIPERS, FRONT PADS, BACK PLATES, LINES, WHEEL BEARINGS, AND REAR BRAKE DRUMS. THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC.
