WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE.*JB
BRAKE VIBRATIONS/SHUDDER/ BOUNCE SINCE ABOUT 8000 MILES. I NOW HAVE 45000 ON THE TRUCK AND I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK IN MULTIPLE TIMES TO FIX VIBRATIONS I FEEL WHILE BRAKING. THE DEALERSHIP LEAD TECH RODE WITH ME AND FELT THE VIBRATIONS. THEY HAVE PERFORMED SEVERAL FIXES HAS TOYOTA RELEASED TO NO AVAIL. I PULL A LARGE BOAT, AND AT TIMES, I AM NOT VERY CONFIDENT IN THE BRAKES ON MY TRUCK. NOT EXACTLY THE FEELING YOU WANT WHEN YOU'RE PULLING 3700 LBS BEHIND YOU! THIS WILL BE A POSSIBLE LIABILITY ISSUE IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURS. *JB
OWN A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA 4 DOOR V-8 TRUCK. BOUGHT NEW IN FEBRUARY 2000. (1) BRAKES OPERATED NORMALLY UNTIL ABOUT 60000 MILES AT AROUND THE END OF 2002. (2) APPLYING BRAKES LIGHTLY TO SLOW DOWN FROM NORMAL FREEWAY SPEED VIBRATION/PULSATION /SHAKING OCCURRED. SOMETIMES WORSE THAN AT OTHER TIMES. AT FIRST, 1ST REACTION WAS TO GET OFF THE BRAKES, BUT, IN TIME, GOT USED TO VIBRATION. NOT SURE WHAT LONG TERM EFFECT OR DAMAGE MAY OCCUR FROM THIS VIBRATION. (3) NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO VEHICLE TO CORRECT PROBLEM. CONTACTED TOYOTA, AND THEY WERE AWARE OF VIBRATION ISSUE. THEY APPARENTLY HAD A SOLUTION BUT MY TRUCK WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND WOULD NOT COVER COST TO INSTALL REMEDY. THIS APPEARED TO BE A LATENT PROBLEM NOT NECESSARILY SHOWING UP WITHIN THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY PERIOD. NO INJURIES OR DEATHS OCCURRED FROM THIS DEFECT. *AK
THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED ON MY 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO BE FIXED THE PART TOOK TWO WEEKS TO COME IN BECAUSE IT WAS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THE REASON FOR THIS BACK ORDER WAS THAT THE PART HAD BEEN REDESIGNED AND WAS NOT AVAILIBLE YET. THIS TELLS ME THAT THE PART WAS FAULTY IN THE FIRST PLACE.
CONSUMER CALLED COMPLAINING ABOUT THE AIR BAGS ON THE VEHICLE. ALSO STATED THAT WAS INVOLVED ON A COLLISION WHERE THE AIR BAGS ON THE VEHICLE DID NOT DEPLOY AT THE TIME OF THE IMPACT. DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED AT THE TIME OF THIS CALL. TS
CONSUMER STATES HAS RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER OVER YEAR AGO, CONSUMER CALL UP THE NEAR DEALER FOR THE TAIL LIGHTS RECALL, DEALER SINCE THAT TIME DON'T HAVE THE PART YET. PLEASE MR. JOSE PROVIDE US THE NAME OF THE DEALER ADDRESS, TELEPHONE NUMBER, ALSO THE MANAGER NAMES THAT YOU SPOKE AT THAT TIME. TS
2000 TUNDRA WAS PURCHASED AT 47,000 MILES. WITHIN 1000 MILES, A SEVERE VIBRATION DEVELOPED WHENEVER THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 40 MILES PER HOUR. AS THE VIBRATION INCREASED, I NOTICED A FAIRLY SEVERE INCREASE IN BRAKING DISTANCE AS WELL. AFTER A NEAR COLLISION, I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE. THE DEALER ALERTED ME THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH BRAKES ON THE TUNDRA, HOWEVER THEY SIMPLY RESURFACED THE ROTORS AND INFORMED ME THAT THE PADS WERE AT 75%. WITHIN 1000 MILES, I AGAIN DEVELOPED THE SAME PROBLEM. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN AGAIN AND AGAIN THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM, BUT SIMPLY RESURFACED THE ROTORS AND INSTALLED NEW PADS AT MY EXPENSE. THE SERVICE MANAGER ATTEMPTED TO HAVE TOYOTA PAY TO PERFORM THE WORK WHICH WAS LISTED IN SERVICE BULLETINS # BR00302, BR00402, HOWEVER, TOYOTA REFUSED CITING THAT MY TRUCK HAD IN EXCESS OF 36,000 MILES. THE BILL FOR THIS WORK WAS QUOTED AS $1700. IT IS NOW 1000 MILES SINCE MY MOST RECENT SERVICE, AND AGAIN THE VIOLENT SHAKING AND INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE HAS RETURNED.
CONSUMER HAS AN AFTERMARKET CRUISE CONTROL(CC) KIT MANUFACTURED BY AUDIVOX. CONSUMER WAS UNAWARE OF MODEL NAME/NUMBER OF KIT. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 72MPH WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING. CONSUMER TURNED CC OFF THEN BACK ON. PROBLEM OCCURRED 15 MINUTES LATER. CONSUMER ALSO ADVISED THAT ON 11/24/02 WAS DRIVING WITH CC DISENGAGED. REMOVED FOOT FROM ACCELERATOR PEDAL, BUT VEHICLE WOULD NOT DECELERATE. CONSUMER FOUND THAT THE AFTERMARKET SPEED CONTROL UNIT HAD CAUSED THE PROBLEM AND HAD TO BE DISCONNECTED. *TT
BAD O2 SENSORS ON 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA ACCESS CAB 4-WHEEL DRIVE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE BRAKES DIDN'T STOP VEHICLE AT A SAFE DISTANCE. ALSO, WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE BRAKE PADS/ROTORS HAD BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES. MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE PROBLEM.*AK *JB *NLM
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES. HE DID RESEARCH AND FOUND TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS (TSBS),TSBBR00402 AND TSBBR00403. THE PRO BRAKES WERE NOT HOLDING AND VIBRATING . THIS MADE THE STOPPING OF THE VEHICLE SEEM DANGEROUS. HE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY TOLD HIM TO BRING VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE, AND HAS CURRENTLY NOT DONE SO. HE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, AND THEY TOLD HIM THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT WAS A WEAR AND TEAR. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 29,000 MILES ON IT. THIS OCCURRED AT FREEWAY SPEEDS, AND AT HARD BRAKING. THE TSBS STATED THAT THE BRAKES MAY NOT GRAB , CAUSING THE FRONT ROTORS TO OVERHEAT AND WARP. THERE WAS A RECALL 05V225000 ON THE 2002 TOYOTA TUNDRA FOR A LOWER BALL JOINTS. ALSO, STEERING WAS HARD, AND WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL IT MADE A POUNDING SOUND. THE CONTACT HAS BEEN HAVING BRAKE PROBLEMS FOR ABOUT THREE YEARS, AND T FRONT SUSPENSION PROBLEM FOR ABOUT TWO MONTHS. *AK UPDATED 11/29/05. *JB
ROTORS, DRUMS, PADS AND SHOES REPLACED AT 12,000 MILES AND 34000 MILES AFTER DEVELOPING SEVERE VIBRATION. THESE WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. AT 40,000 MILES SEVERE VIBRATION DEVELOPED IN REAR END. AT 54,000 MILES SEVERE VIBRATION DEVELOPED IN FRONT END. FOUND OUT THAT ROTORS ARE WARPED. MR
MAJOR BRAKE PULSATION, ESPECIALLY WHEN SLOWING DOWN AT FREEWAY SPEEDS TO EXIT. DEALER HAS REPLACED THE FRONT PADS, FRONT ROTORS, REAR SHOES, REAR DRUMS, REAR STAR WHEEL AUTOMATIC ADJUSTERS. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME SINCE THE TRUCK WAS NEW THAT THE BRAKES HAVE STARTED PULSATING SO BAD THAT I'M BECOMING AFRAID TO DRIVE THE TRUCK AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. TOYOTA'S TSB TO FIX THE PROBLEMS DOESN'T LAST ANY LONGER THAN 5,000 MILES. TS
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, HIT ACCELERATOR AND VEHICLE STALLED. HAD VEHICLE SERVICED, TRANSMISSION WENT OUT.*AK
WHEN TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF 40 MPH, CONSUMER STATES' THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THERE WAS A LOT OF VIBRATION. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE FRONT DISC BRAKES. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. TS
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHEN TRYING TO APPLY THE BRAKES THEY CAN HEAR A LOUD NOISE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL GO TO THE FLOOR CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO HAVE EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. NLM

I HAD SMELLLED FUMES IN THE CAB AND BEGAN TO HEAR WHAT SOUNDED LIKE VALVE TAPPING NOISES AT START-UP. AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TOYOTA FOR INSPECTION. I WAS TOLD THAT BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS WERE CRACKED AT THE REPAIR COST WOULD BE $1600. THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY BY ABOUT 5,000 MILES. IN THE END, I WAS FORCED TO PAY $643.55 IN ORDER TO HAVE A SAFE TOYOTA.
THE BRAKING SYSTEMS ON THE 2000 TUNDRA ARE INSUFFICIENT TO STOP THE BIGGER WHEELS. THE CALIPERS, BRAKE PADS, AND ROTORS ARE TOO SMALL SO WHEN BRAKE IS APPLIED THE ROTORS WOULD WARPED AND CAUSE A TREMENDOUS VIBRATION.*AK PRIOR TO SEEKING REMEDIES FROM AGENCIES, I TRIED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEMS NUMEROUS TIMES BUT TO NO AVAIL. I USED SLOTTED ROTORS, DRILLED ROTORS, AND EXPENSIVE PADS BUT THEY ALL RESULTED IN THE SAME MANNER---VIOLENT VIBRATION. AFTER WHICH I FINALLY SPOKE TO A TOYOTA TECHNICIAN AND HE SAID THE TOYOTA REPLACED THE BRAKING SYSTEMS FROM A 199 MM TO A 241 MM. THE CALIPERS WERE UPDATED FROM A 2-PISTON TO A 4-PISTON. BUT THE UPDATE ONLY TOOK EFFECT FOR TUNDRAS WITH LESS THAN 50,000 MILES. THE CONSUMERS DID NOT RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE DEFECTS UNTIL THEY TOOK THE TRUCK IN FOR BREAK SERVICE. THERE WAS ALSO NO RECALLS BECAUSE THE NHTSA DID NOT NOTICE THE PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TOYOTA TO UPDATE THE TRUCK WITH THE BIGGER BRAKE. THIS PROBLEM OF HIDING DEFECTS IS BECOMING VERY WORRISOME. FORD AND FIRESTONE HAD IT WITH THE TIRES RESULTING IN NUMEROUS FATALITIES AS WITH MITSUBISHI. WHY DOES IT TAKE A FATALITY FOR MANUFACTURERS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM THEY KNOW FROM THE GET-GO?
BRAKES VIBRATE AND TRUCK SHAKES BAD, DEALER SAYS THEY WILL CHARGE ME TO TURN ROTORS AND PUT IN NEW PADS. AFTER GOING TO YOUR WEB SITE I SEE THAT THERE ARE ALOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME VEHICLE ABOUT THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT SAFE AND I WOULD LIKE AN UPDATE ON THE FIX FOR THE PROBLEM PLEASE. HOW CAN THESE DEALERS CHARGE PEOPLE TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT IS NOT THERE FAULT?*AK
REAR DRUMS WARPED...AGAIN. THIS IS THIRD SET REPLACEMENT. NOW THESE ARE WARPED. TOYOTA WILL NOT HONOR CONTINUED SUPPORT. LAST SET REPLACED BY NTB.*AK
BRAKE ROTORS HAD A CHRONIC WARPING PROBLEM. HAS HAD VEHICLE FOR 2 YEARS, AND HAD ROTORS REPLACED 6 TIMES. DEALER ADVISED CONSUMER THAT MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE THAT ROTORS WERE INADEQUATE.*AK
BRAKES WEAR EXCESSIVELY. DEALER CANNOT FIND CAUS EOR FIX PROBLEM.*AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHAKES WHEN HE PUTS HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKES. THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE SHAKES BADLY AND THE VEHICLE BECOMES HARD TO CONTROL IN BAD WEATHER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CALIBURS ARE TO SMALL FOR THE TRUCK AND CAUSES THE ROTORS TO BECOME HOT, WHICH MAKES IT HARDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS138000.
WHEN BRAKING IT CAUSED EXCESSIVE VIBRATION WITHIN THE FRONT END. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS/ CALIPERS/ PADS, AND THE WHEEL BEARING OF LARGER SIZE EQUIPMENTS.*AK. ALSO, REPLACED HUB AND KNUCKLE.*AK
THERES IS STRONG VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING. IT'S VERY HARD TO STEER. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
VEHICLE WOULD STUTTER OR JERK OCCASIONALLY OVER A THREE WEEK PERIOD OF TIME/APPROX 500 MILES OF DRIVING. WHILE TURNING INTO DRIVEWAY VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AND WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF DRIVE. TORQUE CONVERTER WAS LOCKED UP REQUIRING A NEW TRANSMISSION. *TR
CONSUMER IS UNABLE TO TIGHTEN SEATBELT, CAUSING IT TO BE LOOSE.*AK CONSUMER STATES THE DRIVERS SIDE SHOULDER/LAP BELT CONSTANTLY GETS WEDGED IN THE SIDE PILLAR BELT GUIDE, WHEN CONSUMER FIRST GETS INTO THE VEHICLE, AND LATCHES THE BUCKLE HE HAS TO PULL AN EXCESS AMOUNT OF BELT OUT AND EXPECTS THE EXCESS TO RETRACT WHEN THE BUCKLE IS LATCHED, HOWEVER THE SLACK STAYS IN THE BELT, IN ORDER TO TIGHTEN UP THE BELT CONSUMER HAS TO REACH THE PILLAR GUIDE AND ELIMINATE THE BUNCHING THAT CAUSES THE HANG UP OF THE BELT.*JB

FRONT DISC BRAKES WARP ROTORS AND SHUDDER EXCESSIVELY AFTER SEVERAL ROTOR REPLACEMENTS AT SHORT SERVICE INTERVALS. I AM NOT THE FIRST PERSON WITH THIS COMPLAINT AS EVIDENT WITH MANY INTERNET COMPLAINTS. *JB
WHILE DRIVING, ENGINE AND VALVE TRAINS ARE NOISY. PROBLEM HAS EXISTED FOR OVER A YEAR. DEALER HAS INSPECTED VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THIS WAS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE. *AK *TT
ACCIDENT OCCURED WHILE DRIVING AT 65-70 MPH. DRIVER AND PASSENGERS WERE INJURED, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT TIGHTEN UP AND LOCKED UPON THE IMPACT. NLM *SLC
2000 TUNDRA - UNCONTROLLABLE VIBRATIONS UPON BRAKING. IN 3/02 I BROUGHT TRUCK TO TOYOTA DEALER TO ADDRESS PROBLEM. THEY MACHINED FRONT ROTORS AND REPLACED FRONT PADS. I QUESTIONED IF THIS WOULD BE EFFECTIVE. PROBLEM CONTINUED WITHIN 6 MONTHS. DEALER NOW OFFERING TO REPLACE ALL FRONT BRAKE HARDWARE FOR $520.00. BEING SCREWED IN CALIFORNIA. *JB

BRAKE ROTORS WARPING CAUSING A VIBRATION WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM ON EARLY MODELS OF THE TOYOTA TUNDRA THERE IS A SERVICE BULLENT OUT FOR THE PROBLEM BUT YOU ARE NOT TOLD ABOUT IT UNTIL THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. I HAVE REPLACED THE ROTORS FOUR TIMES ON THIS TRUCK
MY BRAKES HAVE A DESIGN FLAW RESULTING IN SEVERE VIBRATION WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE BRAKES WEAR DOWN VERY QUICKLY AND DO NOT WORK VERY WELL- I HAVE TO DOWNSHIFT IN ORDER TO HELP ME STOP. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. TOYOTA PUT OUT 2 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ( BR004-002,BR003-02) . TOYOTA WILL NOT REMEDY THIS VERY DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW- HELP! *AK
THE FRAME ON MY 2000 TUNDRA IS DISINTEGRATING. I CAN BREAK OFF BIG HUNKS OF RUSTED METAL AND I'M CONCERNED ABOUT THE STRUCTURE OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING OCCURRENCE. *TR
INITIAL SYMPTOM BEFORE FAILURE - DIFFICULTY PUTTING STEERING COLUMN SHIFTER INTO FORWARD GEARS AND "CLUNKY" ROUGH SHIFTING FROM DRIVE GEAR (3RD) INTO AUTOMATIC OVERDRIVE. OCCURRED PERIODICALLY FOR 1 WEEK PRIOR TO TOTAL FAILURE OF OD. TOYOTA SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT IDENTIFY PROBLEM ON 2 OCCASIONS IN THIS PERIOD. ONLY AFTER TOTAL FAILURE AND "IDIOT" LIGHT (CHECK ENGINE) CAME ON WAS TOYOTA SERVICE WILLING TO LOOK INTERNALLY, ONLY TO FIND METAL SHAVINGS IN THE PAN.*AK
CONSUMER CANNOT MOVE AFTER PUTTING SEAT BELT ON UNLESS HE PLACES FOOT ON BRAKES. CONSUMER'S SEAT BELT HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES, AND SVC MECHANIC STATED THAT THIS BEHAVIOR OF SEAT BELT WAS NORMAL.*AK
BRAKES, WARPED BRAKE DISCS. HAVE HAD TO REPLACE BRAKE PADS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, AS WELL AS HAVING MY ROTORS TURNED AND MACHINED. ALL MECHANICS INVOLVED HAVE EXPLAINED THAT TOYOTA HAS USED INFERIOR/DEFECTIVE BRAKE COMPONENTS ON TUNDRA AND SEQOUIA VEHICLES SINCE THE 2000 MODEL YEAR. FURTHERMORE, IT WAS EXPLAINED THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THESE DEFECTIVE PARTS BECAUSE OF THE SEVERITY OF THE PROBLEM AND THE OVERWHELMING OCCURANCE OF OWNER COMPLAINTS. ALL MECHANICS HAVE EXPRESSED THAT THE REPLACEMENT OF ORIGINAL FACTORY PARTS WILL NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM, AND THAT THESE PARTS WILL ONLY FAIL AGAIN WITHIN 6-10 MONTHS. THE CONTINUOUS WARPING OF ROTORS CAUSES SEVERE SHAKING OF VEHICLE DURING BRAKING AT ANY SPEED. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND UNACCEPTABLE. WOULD LIKE TO THINK THAT TOYOTA WOULD ACCEPT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY AND REPLACE THE AFFECTED COMPONENTS, BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED AS A RESULT OF FAILURE OF A NOTABLY DEFECTIVE MANUFACTURER INSTALLED PART OR PARTS.*AK

GAS TANK SEEPING GAS AT THE POINT WHERE TOP AND BOTTOM PORTION WIELDED TOGETHER. TANK WAS REPLACED I HAVE THAT TANK IN MY POSSESSION IF YOU NEED TO EXAMINE IT. *AK
I HAVE 155,000 MILES ON MY TOYOTA TRUCK AND HAD THE FRONT ROTORS REPLACED 7 TIMES AND THREE OF THOSE SETS I HAD TURNED. THE PROBLEM STARTED AT 18,000 MILES I TOOK IT TO DEALER WERE I WAS TOLD THE REAR BRAKES ARE NOT SELF ADJUSTING LIKE ON EVERY OTHER TRUCK MAKERS. THEY TURNED THE ROTORS AND ADJUSTED THE REARS BUT IT ONLY LASTED A FEW THOUSAND MILES BEFORE THE FRONT ROTORS WERE WARPED AGAIN. I DO NOT PULL A TRAILER OR HAUL HEAVY LOADS SO I AM NOT OVERLOADING THE BRAKES. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE I HAVE HAD OTHER TOYOTA OWNERS TELL ME THE SAME THING AND I'VE READ A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET. *TR
MY TOYOTA TUNDRA HAD WARRANTY WORK PERFORMED ON THE FRONT DISC BRAKES AND REAR DRUM BRAKES @ 27,000 MILES. NOW AT 40,000 THE VIBRATION PROBLEM HAS COME BACK, SAME AS BEFORE. MY TRUCK IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND TOYOTA CLAIMS I HAVE TO PAY FOR MY NEXT VISIT TO THE DEALER....AND FOR WHAT, THE SAME PARTS AS BEFORE! I HAVE READ ON MANY WEB SITES (WWW.TUNDRASOLUTIONS.COM) ABOUT THE BRAKE VIBRATION PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRUCK I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NOT AN INVESTIGATION GOING ON AND WHY NO RECALL??? CONTACTED MANUFACTURER AFTER BRAKES WERE REPLACED AND THEY WERE LESS THAN CONCERNED. I AM NOW AWAITING ANOTHER SET OF REAR BRAKE DRUMS FROM THE DEALER TO REPLACE THE FAULTY REPLACEMENTS THAT ARE CURRENTLY ON MY VEHICLE. I AM WORRIED ABOUT MY WARRANTY RUNNING OUT BEFORE THIS PROBLEM IS ACTUALLY CORRECTED! *AK
SERIOUS VIBRATION, SOFT BRAKE PEDAL AND LIMITED TRAVEL. THIS VEHICLE HAS EXHIBITED BRAKE PROBLEMS SINCE NEW. IT WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHICH REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER UNDER WARRANTY. THE PROBLEMS CONTINUED TO WHICH THE DEALER INSISTED THE SYMPTOMS WERE NORMAL. LATER, THEY SAID IT NEEDED ANOTHER MASTER CYLINDER BUT I DECLINED BASED ON PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE. VIBRATION WAS ATTRIBUTED TO TIRES. I HAVE BEEN CHASING VIBRATION AND SOFT BRAKES FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
TOYOTA IS AWARE THEY HAVE A MAJOR DESIGN PROBLEM, BUT THEY RESIST A PERMANENT FIX. NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED. *AK
I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE IN ON (3) SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT. THERE HAVE BEEN (2) BULLETINS BOTH SENT TO YOU AND THE DEALERSHIPS REGARDING THE BRAKE SYSTEMS. I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET ABOUT SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IF THIS IS NOT FIXED IT CAN BE A SAFETY RELATED ISSUE. I FEEL THIS IS A DEFECTIVE SYSTEM AND TOYOTA SHOULD HAVE TO REPLACE IT AT NO CHARGE TO THE OWNER. *AK
FRONT BRAKE ROTOR WARPAGE.MAYBE DUE TO THE REAR BRAKES NOT HELPING TO STOP VEHICLE. MAYBE THE SIZE OF THE BRAKE PADS ARE TO SMALL TO EFFECTIVELY DISSIPATE THE HEAT.*AK
