CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SECONDARY AIR INTAKE THIS WAS A RECALL IN 2007-10 YEARS BUT IS ALSO BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM IN EARLIER MODELS. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRAME UNDERNEATH THE DRIVER'S SIDE BUCKLED WHEN IT WAS PLACED ON THE LIFT AT STOLTZ TOYOTA OF DUBOIS (860 BEAVER DR, DUBOIS, PA 15801, (814) 371-3333. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A VOLUNTARY RECALL ON THE FRAME AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VOLUNTARY RECALL EXPIRED IN JULY OF 2015 AND THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE. THE CONTACT PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2009 FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V065000 (AIR BAGS), BUT THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL NOTIFICATION. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. SUDDENLY, THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITH FORCE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A HEAD INJURY THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. AN INCIDENT REPORT WAS FILED, BUT NOT A POLICE REPORT. THE DEALER (PRIORITY TOYOTA HAMPTON, 2301 W MERCURY BLVD, HAMPTON, VA 23666, (757) 838-5000) INSPECTED THE VEHICLE PER THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTION TO INVESTIGATE THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. THE MANUFACTURER INVESTIGATED THE EDR BOX, BUT FOUND NO FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER SENT A LETTER INDICATING THAT THE VEHICLE OWNER WAS AT FAULT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE INVESTIGATION FAILED TO PROVIDE A CONCLUSION THAT THE RECALL REMEDY WOULD HAVE PROVIDED A PERMANENT REMEDY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL FRACTURED AND THE LOWER BALL JOINT FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V013000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V013000 (SUSPENSION). THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 216,000.
FRAME IS RUSTING AND BREAKING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AS THE BRAKE BARRIER WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE DRIVE UPHILL AND WHEN THE VEHICLES STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS, HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 175,000.
TUNDRA HAD ELECTRICAL FAULT IN TRANSMISSION DUE TO WIRING HARNESS CORROSION. TUNDRA WILL DROP OUR OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING AND REENGAGE VIOLENTLY. TOYOTA HAS REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE AND I AM UNABLE TO REPAIR DUE TO NATIONAL BACKLOG ON NECESSARY PARTS. MY TUNDRA WAS PART OF THE RUST RECALL A COUPLE YEARS AGO WHICH WAS NEVER PROPERLY RECTIFIED AND I BELIEVE THIS IS A CONTINUATION OF THAT PROBLEM. TRANSMISSION ISSUE SEEMS TO OCCUR MOSTLY AT SPEEDS UP TO 45 MPH.
MY 2005 TUNDRA IS ROTTING OUT IN THE FRAME ABOVE THE REAR LEAF SPRING FRONT CONNECTION TO THE FRAME. DEALER HAS LOOKED AT IT TWICE IN THE LAST SIX YEARS SAID NO PERFORATIONS. NOW IN 2018 THE FRAME IS ROTTING AND BUCKLED. TOYOTA CORPORATE SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE IT OUTSIDE OF THE WINDOW OF SERVICE. SO NOW I AM STUCK WITH A TRUCK WITH JUST OVER 100K MILES, LOOKED AT BY A TOYOTA DEALER IN THE PAST AND WAS DEEMED NOT IN NEED OF A FRAME REPLACEMENT. NOW IT IS IN NEED OF A FRAME REPLACEMENT BUT TOYOTA WON'T HONOR ANY PAST RECALLS OR INSPECTIONS DONE BY A TOYOTA DEALER AND HAS LEFT IT TO ME TO DEAL WITH THE ROT. VERY DISAPPOINTED THERE IS NO HELP FOR CUSTOMERS IN THIS SITUATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER.
GOOD AFTERNOON, I'M WRITING TO REPORT AND REQUEST ASSISTANCE WITH CATASTROPHIC FRAME ISSUES ON MY 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF HOLES IN THE FRAME AND PLACES I BELIEVE TO BE COMPROMISED. THE TRUCK HAS 96,000 MILES. I HAVE AN OPEN INCIDENT TICKET WITH TOYOTA BUT ALSO WANTED TO REPORT THIS ISSUE HERE.
MY 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA WAS RECALLED FOR RUST PROBLEMS, AND IN 2013 THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP APPLIED A COATING TO THE FRAME WHICH THEY ADVISED WOULD REMEDY THE PROBLEM. ON 06/01/18 I NOTICED I HOWEVER HAVE HOLES IN MY FRAME NEAR WHERE THE SUSPENSION ATTACHES, AND THE FRAME IS NOT SAFE FOR OPERATION ON THE ROAD. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY ARE NOT LIABLE, AND I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THEY ARE NOT LIABLE AND NO ONE WILL FIX THE ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP HAD THE OPTION IN 2013 TO EITHER SPRAY OR REPLACE THE FRAME, THEY SPRAYED MINE BUT IT WAS NOT EFFECTIVE AND NOW I BELIEVE THE VEHICLE IS A HAZARD DUE TO HOLES IN THE FRAME. I ONLY HAVE 118,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK, AND IT HAS BEEN IN MY FAMILY SINCE BEING BRAND NEW. I BELIEVE THE FRAME IS DEFECTIVE AND TOYOTA INC. IS NOT ASSISTING ME WITH FIXING THE PROBLEM, THEY ADVISED ME I NEED TO GO TALK TO A BODY SHOP TO SEE IF THEY CAN WELD A PIECE INTO THE FRAME.
GOT IN TRUCK, STARTED IT, BRAKE LIGHT REMAINED ON. WHILE DRIVING, BRAKES WERE SOFT. CHECKED BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR, LOW ON FLUID. ADDED BRAKE FLUID, PUMPED BRAKES- PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. FLUID UNDER RIGHT FRONT WHEEL. HAD TRUCK TAKEN TO MY MECHANIC - BRAKE LINE RUSTED OUT, ALL ALL OTHER LINES RUSTED AS WELL. RECOMMENDED ALL GET REPLACED AS A SAFETY ISSUE. NOT ONLY RUST ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE- WAS IN THE TOYOTA CHASSIS RECALL- CHASSIS COATED WITH RUST INHIBITOR. DIFFERENTIAL RUSTED OUT- REPLACED AT MY COST. TOYOTA TOOK NO RESPONSIBILITY. ALSO REPLACED THE HOOD RELEASE CABLE, EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE, AS WELL AS THE TWO CABLES SUPPORTING THE TAILGATE- ALL RUSTED OUT. REAR BUMPER RUSTED OUT TOO.

TOYOTA HAS JUST SETTLED A CLAIM FOR FRAME RUST FOR 2007-2008 TUNDRAS. I OWN A 2005 TUNDRA AND THE FRAME IS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND MUST BE REPLACED. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY I'M HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND IT IS NOT COVERED IN THE RECALL.
DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO SERVICE. SAID MY VEHICLE IS NOT EFFECTIVE. I RECEIVED INFORMATION STATING OTHERWISE?
I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA ON THE INTERSTATE. I CAME UPON ROAD WORK AND SLOWED TO THE 45 MPH SPEED LIMIT. ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE TRUCK DROPPED TO THE FRONT LEFT WITH A LOUD CRASH. SPARKS WERE FLYING AND I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE FOR A BRIEF TIME. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW AND STEER THE TRUCK TO SAFETY. I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK TO SEE THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL BUCKLED UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK AND MAJOR DAMAGES TO THAT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I'M VERY LUCKY TO HAVE SLOWED FOR ROAD WORK. IF I HAD OF BEEN DOING INTERSTATE SPEEDS OF 70 MPH I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO HANDLE THE VEHICLE AND COULD HAVE HAD SEVERE AND FATAL CONSEQUENCES. EVERY DAY FOR THE PRIOR WEEK OR SO I NOTICED THE TRUCKS STEERING BEING WEIRD (PULLING A LITTLE TO THE RIGHT SIDE AND NOT BEING ABLE BE STEERED WITH THE NORMAL EASE) AND IT MAKING A LOUD SQUEAKING SOUND WHEN TURNING.
THE FRAME HAS ROT ON IT AND TOYOTA HAS RECALLED YEARS BEFORE AND AFTER MINE FOR FRAME REPLACEMENT BUT NOTHING FOR 2005

MAJOR RUSTING OF FRAME, RUSTED BRAKE LINES, RUSTED POWER STEERING LINES. VEHICLES IS UNSAFE DUE TO RUSTING.
TOYOTA FRAME RUST, 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA RECALLED AND "INSPECTED" IN 2014 BY TOYOTA FOR RUST HOLES. REPORT WAS THAT NONE WERE FOUND AND TOYOTA PERFORMED A "GOODWILL" SPRAY UNDERCOAT. PLEASE EXAMINE PICTURES OF SWAY BAR MOUNT TO FRAME AS WELL AS GAPPING HOLE IN FRAME DISCOVERED TWO DAYS AGO. TOYOTA HAS AN OBVIOUS FRAME PROBLEM AND HAS REPLACED FRAMES IN 2000-2003 TUNDRAS AS WELL AS 2007-2008. WHY NOT IN 2004-2006 WITH OBVIOUS ISSUES? PLEASE HELP.
ON 09/09/17 THE FRAME RUSTED THROUGH CAUSING A ME TO RUN OVER A CURB AND INTO A PARKING LOT. TOYOTA TREATED THE FRAME TO PREVENT RUST, BUT IT DID NOT STOP IT. NOW IT HAS RUSTED THROUGH AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND ALMOST KILLED US! IN ADDITION TO THE IMAGES I HAVE SENT, I CAN PROVIDE MANY MANY MORE!
THE BREAKLINE BROKE IN AUGUST 2017 TOOK IT TO MECHANIC LEARNED THAT THE FRAME WAS TOO RUSTED TO PUT IT ON THE LIFT TO FIX THE BRAKE LINE - LEARNED IT HAD BEEN UNDER COATED BY TOYOTA JUNE 2014. DIDN'T WORK - RUSTED FULL OF HOLES AND CRACKS !
IN 2015, MY VEHICLE WAS PART OF A TOYOTA RECALL FOR COLD WEATHER VEHICLES, TO UNDERCOAT THE FRAME TO MITIGATE ANY POSSIBLE PROBLEMS FROM SNOW, ICE AND SALT RUSTING OUT THE FRAME PREMATURELY. I COMPLIED, BRINGING MY VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER, HERITAGE FORD & TOYOTA, 1620 SHELBURNE RD., SO. BURLINGTON, VT. THEY HAD MY VEHICLE FOR 3 DAYS, AND REMOVED THE PICK UP BODY FROM THE VEHICLE AND UNDERCOATED THE FRAME FROM THE TRANSMISSION CROSS MEMBER TO THE REAR OF THE FRAME. THIS PAST TUES.,AUG. 8TH, 2017, I HAD MY VEHICLE AT MY LOCAL SERVICE STATION TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED, AND TO HAVE THE FRONT BRAKES LOOKED AT. SOON AFTER THEY DROVE THE VEHICLE INTO THE SERVICE BAY, MY MECHANIC CAME TO ME AND SAID HE HAD SOMETHING TO SHOW ME. THAT'S WHEN HE SHOWED ME THE HOLES ON THE TOP RAIL OF THE FRAME JUST BACK FROM THE ENGINE MOTOR MOUNT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS HORRIFIED WHEN MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THIS CONDITION ESSENTIALLY RENDERED MY VEHICLE UNINSPECTABLE. I WENT BACK TO HERITAGE TOYOTA WHERE I HAD THE UNDERCOATING DONE, AND THEY SAID BASICALLY, SINCE THEY HAD MET THE ORIGINAL CONDITIONS OF THE 2015 RECALL, THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THEY WERE REQUIRED TO DO FOR ME. THEY REFERRED ME TO THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE TELEPHONE NUMBER. WHEN I CALLED THE CASE WORKER, CHERYL FROM TOYOTA, SHE TOLD ME THE SAME THING THAT HERITAGE TOYOTA HAD TOLD ME, THEY HAD COVERED THEMSELVES BY COMPLETING THE RECALL REQUIREMENTS FOR MY VEHICLE, AND THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THEY COULD DO. MY CASE # FOR TOYOTA WAS 1708081681. I FEEL THAT EITHER HERITAGE TOYOTA OR TOYOTA MOTOR CORP. ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENED TO MY TRUCK. HERITAGE, BECAUSE THEY HAD MY VEHICLE FOR 3 DAYS, & THEY COULD HAVE CHECKED THE FRAME IN THE ENGINE WELL AT SOME POINT. AND TOYOTA MOTOR CORP, BECAUSE THEY HAVE HAD VERY WELL DOCUMENTED FRAME ISSUES WITH IT'S TRUCKS FOR MANY YEARS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO STEVE HAMLIN, AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SHOP, FOR YEARLY INSPECTION WHERE IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WAS CORRODED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT PART OF THE FRAME THAT PROTECTED THE HEAT SHIELD BECAME DETACHED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR THE SAME ISSUE, BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,012.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE SUBFRAME OF THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED SEVERE RUST AND CORROSION. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER (ROCHESTER TOYOTA IN ROCHESTER, NH) WAS NOTIFIED, BUT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

THE MAIN CHASSIS HAS HAS RUSTED AND BROKEN

ONCE HE ARRIVED HOME, THE CONTACT LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE FRAME HAD CORRODED THROUGH THE ENTIRE CHASSIS ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FRONT OF THE CHASSIS DROPPED BELOW THE REAR PART APPROXIMATELY ONE INCH AND A QUARTER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE LOWER BALL JOINT SEPARATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE LOWER BALL JOINT. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER (AMERICAN TIRE & WHEEL INC, 115 MALL ST, HOT SPRINGS, AR 71913) AND THEY CHECKED AND REPLACED ALL THE PARTS AT THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-331-4331 AND STATED THAT THE RECALL HAD ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED. CASE NUMBER: 1709200139 WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE BECAME INOPERABLE AS THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE HIT THE GROUND. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE TOWARDS THE RIGHT SIDE SHOULDER OF THE BELTWAY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS FRACTURED, DAMAGED THE ABS SENSOR, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA EQUIPPED WITH COOPER DISCOVERER S/T MAXX TIRES, SIZE: 265/75/16. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE DEFLATED. THE VEHICLE WENT SIDEWAYS AND ROLLED OVER. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK AND BACK, WHILE THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED A FRACTURED ROTATOR CUFF THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT A REAR SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR BRUISES, BUT NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,785. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA, WHICH HAS THE ENTIRE FRAME ALL RUSTED. I ALREADY REPLACED ALL BRAKE LINES AND DIFFERENTIAL BECAUSE OF THE RUST. THE MECHANIC SAID IT IS RUSTED SO BAD THAT IT COULD FALL APART. THERE WAS A LIMITED CAMPAIGN FOR A RECALL ON OUR TUNDRA AND THE SPRAY WAS DONE IN 2015. OBVIOUSLY IT DIDN'T TAKE BECAUSE OF ALL THE CONTINUOUS ISSUES WE ARE HAVING. I CALLED THE CORPORATE OFFICE OF TOYOTA AND OPENED AN CLAIM AND THE MANAGER I SPOKE TO REALLY COULD CARE LESS AND TOLD ME THAT ONCE THE WARRANTIES ARE OVER ITS NO LONGER THEIR (TOYOTA) PROBLEM. I REQUESTED A FIELD INSPECTION TECHNICIAN TO LOOK AT THE TRUCK . THAT REQUEST WAS DENIED BY THE MANAGER WHO STATED THAT HE WAS SPEAKING FOR TOYOTA. I ASKED FOR MY CLAIM TO BE REVIEWED BY SOME ONE ABOVE HIM AND HE STATED THEIR WAS NO ONE HIGHER THEM HIMSELF AND HIS DECISION WAS FINAL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY CAN'T LOOK AT THEIR PRODUCTS AND TELLS US IF IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. OBVIOUSLY THEY NEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM OR THEY WOULDN'T HAVE THE LIMITED CAMPAIGN FOR A RECALL. TAKATA RECALL--WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR RECALL OF SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS. WE HAVE BEEN VERY DISTRESSED REGARDING THE TAKATA BAGS CONTAINING SHRAPNEL-LIKE SUBSTANCES & TOLD REPLACEMENT BAG IN PASSENGER SIDE (THAT WAS ALREADY REPLACED ONCE) IS ALSO DEFECTIVE. WE ARE VERY CONCERNED AS WE TRANSPORT GRANDCHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE IS A DANGER TO OUR FAMILY & WE WANT TO KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE SAFE. THERE WAS ALSO A RECALL ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE RUSTING. WE GOT THE SPRAY DONE ON THAT. WHEN WILL THIS VEHICLE BE SAFE? IT HAS BEEN RELIABLE, JUST VERY STRESSFUL REGARDING SAFTEY ISSUES.
THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK WAS RECALLED FOR EXCESSIVE RUST. THE DEALER SPRAYED ON A COATING PER THE RECALL IN 2013. THE COATING HAS ALL FLAKED OFF AND THE FRAME IS LOSING CHUNKS OF RUST. TOYOTA KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT ONCE THEY SPRAY THE DEFECTIVE COATING ON IT. THE TRUCK FRAME NEEDS REPLACED AND THEY WON'T DO IT. SOMEBODY IS GOING TO BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED IN ONE OF THESE TRUCKS WHEN THE FRAME BREAKS AT SPEED.

"TAKATA RECALL" ON OR AROUND AUGUST 23, 2016 I CALLED A TOLL FREE PHONE NUMBER EITHER OFF A RECALL NOTIFICATION FLYER I RECEIVED IN THE MAIL OR FROM A VOICE MESSAGE ON OUR HOME PHONE REGARDING THE PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR ON MY 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA TRUCK. THEY ASKED WHERE I WANTED MY VEHICLE FIXED AND I CHOSE WILDE TOYOTA (3225 S 108TH ST, WEST ALLIS, WI) SINCE THAT IS WHERE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK FROM AND HAVE DONE A VARIETY OF REPAIRS ON THIS AND OTHER VEHICLES. THE OPERATOR CALLED THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND I WAS NOTIFIED THE PART WOULD NEED TO BE ORDERED. I WASN'T GIVEN ANY TIME FRAME, BUT I ASSUMED IT COULDN'T TAKE LONG. I CALLED WILDE TOYOTA TODAY (SEPTEMBER 13, 2016), AND I WAS INFORMED IT WAS ORDERED AS PROMISED, BUT IT WOULD TAKE 3 MONTHS!! I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS. I WAS TOLD I SHOULDN'T HAVE SOMEONE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. HOW DOES TOYOTA EXPECT A VEHICLE TO BE USED FOR 3 MONTHS WITHOUT ALLOWING A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WOULDN'T HAVE AN INVENTORY ON HAND TO HANDLE QUICK TURNAROUND. I UNDERSTAND IT COULD BE HARD TO MANAGE , BUT 3 MONTHS IS RIDICULOUS.
UNCONTROLLABLE ACCELERATION: MY HUSBAND'S 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA ACCELERATED AT A VERY HIGH SPEED WHILE HE HAD HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE AT A STOP SIGN. HE HAD HIS BACK PUSHED UP AGAINST THE SEAT AND PUSHED AS HARD AS HE COULD ON THE BRAKE, BUT THE TRUCK TOOK OFF ANYWAYS AND HE WAS FORCED TO PULL OUT IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. LUCKILY HE WASN'T HIT. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THIS TRUCK. IN JANUARY OF 2015 HE WAS BACKING INTO OUR DRIVEWAY WHEN HIS TRUCK SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AT A VERY HIGH SPEED. HE PUT HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE TIRES KEPT SPINNING. HE PUT THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK AND AFTER A FEW MORE SECONDS THE TIRES STOPPED SPINNING. WE CONTACTED TOYOTA AFTER BOTH OCCURRENCES, BUT THEY WON'T HELP US AT ALL. THEY SAY THAT THE TRUCK ISN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THAT IT'S NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY.

THE ENTIRE FRAME OF THE TRUCK AND EVERY COMPONENT DIRECTLY IN CONTACT WITH IT INCLUDING THE SUSPENSION IS AND HAS BEEN OXIDIZING/RUSTING/ROTTING OFF IN LAYERS SOME FRAGMENTS OF RUST SCALE FALLING OFF MEASURE 1/8" IN THICKNESS I CONTACTED TOYOTA OF NORTH AMERICA KNOWING ABOUT THE RECALLS ON THE TOYOTA TACOMA MODEL TRUCKS WITH ALOT OF DETAILED PHOTOS THEY SAID BASICALLY TOO BAD. IVE KEPT THE UNDERCARRIAGE CLEAN EVEN TRIED USING COATINGS TO SLOW THE DETERIORATION DOWN THE TRUCK HAS 122,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF THE PROBLEM IS TOYOTAS POOR QUALITY STEEL USED AND IMPROPER FACTORY COATINGS I PURCHASED THE TRUCK IN 2014 AND I GLIMPSED UNDERNEATH THE DAY I BOUGHT IT AND THOUGHT THE FRAME LOOKED GOOD THEN A FEW MONTHS GO BY AND I GO TO DO A TUNE UP AND I START SEEING HUGE RUST SCALE FALLING ALL OVER UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION NOTICED THE PROBLEM AND HOW BAD IT WAS AS WELL AS THE REASON I DIDNT NOTICE IT AT THE DEALER WAS THEY SPRAY PAINTED THE UNDERSIDE BLACK TO HIDE THE PROBLEM, I AM A MARINE CORPS VETERAN I SERVED 2007-2011 ACTIVE DUTY EVERY PENNY I HAD SAVED UP I USED TO BUY THIS TRUCK (MY FIRST BIG PURCHASE ALL IN CASH) IVE PUT THOUSANDS INTO THIS TRUCK ALREADY REPLACING SUSPENSION COMPONENTS AND MOUNTS AND ITS BECOMING A TOTAL LOSS I CANT SELL IT TO A PRIVATE PARTY KNOWING HOW DANGEROUS IT CAN BE IF THE WRONG PART FINALLY ROTS ALL THE WAY THRU AND I CANT AFFORD A NEW VEHICLE I CAN BARELY FIND WORK WITH THE ECONOMY AND PERSONAL STRUGGLES I HAVE RELATED TO MY SERVICE, I AM BEYOND UPSET AND I PRAY SOMEONE SOMEWHERE CAN HELP ME I KNOW MY TRUCK IS NOT THE ONLY TUNDRA WITH THIS MAJOR PROBLEM

MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER BECAUSE THE PLASTIC FAN IN THE SECONDARY INJECTION SYSTEM BROKE AND THE PIECES BLEW INTO THE EXHAUST PORTS AND MELT, STICKING UP THE EXHAUST PORTS. THE VEHICLE DOESN'T RUN RIGHT AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE OF A DESIGN PROBLEM. TOYOTA ACCEPTS THE PROBLEM AND HAS EXTENDED THE VEHICLE WARRANTIES FOR THE 2007-2010 MODEL YEARS, BUT NOT FOR MY MODEL YEAR. REPAIR HAS COST ME OVER $3,000 FOR THEIR MISTAKE. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. IT SHOULD BE RECALLED.
