TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT CHECKED THE FLUID LEVEL AND NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID WAS NEARLY DEPLETED. THE CONTACT REPLENISHED THE FLUID AND THE LIGHT DIMMED. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, IT SANK TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE UNDER CARRIAGE WAS EXCESSIVELY CORRODED AND THE BRAKE LINES FRACTURED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. QUOTED FOR ALMOST 4000 TO FIX THIS MANIFOLD AIR INJECTION MANIFOLD. RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND OUT IT TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR DUE DEFECT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY RECALLED 2007 AND NEWER BUT NOT THE OLDER ONES WHICH SEEMS TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I HOPE YOUR AGENCY CAN ASSIST US WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR
DASH LIGHT "CHECK ENGINE" CAME ON AND WHEN THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS THIS EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM LISTED ABOVE ( SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM SWITCHING VALVE NO. 2 BANK 1 AND BANK 2) THAT WOULD COST OVER $3,000 I WENT ONLINE AND SAW MANY TUNDRAS AND SEQUOIAS WITH EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT THE 2007 TO 2009 TUNDRAS WITH THE EXACT PART NUMBERS WERE WARRANTED FOR 10 YEARS, IT TELLS ME THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, SO WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL? *TR
DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT FROM BULBS OR MATERIAL TOO CLOSE TO HEAT SOURCE, HOLES WERE BURNED INTO A LENS CASING LOCATED ABOVE SLIDING GLASS WINDOW TO REAR OF DRIVER. *TR
THE CARGO/CENTER HIGH MOUNT BRAKE LIGHT HOUSING MELTED ABOVE EACH CARGO LAMP. THE PLASTIC HOUSING MELTED AND DRIPPED DOWN ON TO THE BULBS, CAUSING THE BULBS TO CRACK AND BECOME INOPERATIVE. THE FUSE PROTECTING THE CARGO LAMP CIRCUIT DID NOT BLOW, CAUSING CONCERN THAT THERE MAY BE A FIRE HAZARD. *TR
2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AIR INDUCTION PUMP DESIGN FLAWS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC'S REPORT, THE SECOND AIR PUMP, SECONDARY AIR SWITCHING VALVE, BANK 1 AND BANK WERE REPLACED. THEY WERE ALL CLOGGED WITH INSULATION FOAM AND STUCK TO THE VALVE SEATS WHICH KEPT THE VALVES OPEN. THE SECONDARY AIR INLET WAS ALSO REPLACED, DUE TO THE HOSE BEING HARD BECAUSE OF THE HEAT UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD, WHICH ALSO CONTRIBUTED TO THE ENGINE NOT BEING ABLE TO COOL PROPERLY. FURTHER RESEARCH ABOUT AIR INDUCTION PUMP DESIGN FLAWS ON TOYOTA VEHICLE REVEALED A NATIONWIDE PROBLEM AFFECTING TUNDRA'S UP UNTIL THE 2010 MODEL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 45 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE FAILED TO INCREASE SPEED AFTER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE PUMP ASSEMBLY AIR SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,700.
MY TRUCK HAS 2 PARTS THAT HAVE GONE BAD, THE AIR INJECTION PUMPS AND AIR SWITCHING VALVES. TOYOTA ISSUED A WARRANTY POLICY BULLETIN REGARDING THESE PARTS ON TUNDRA MODELS 2007-2010 AND 2008-2010 SEQUOIA MODELS. MY 2005 TUNDRA WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM. HOWEVER, MY TRUCK HAS THE SAME PART THAT IS ON THE 2007-2010 TUNDRAS AND HAS MALFUNCTIONED. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT TOYOTA HAS BEEN AWARE OF AND THAT WAS THE REASON FOR THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT FOR THESE PARTS ON THE 2007-2010 TUNDRAS. TOYOTA HAS REFUSED TO INCLUDE THE 2005 MODELS IN THE SAME CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM TO REPLACE THESE DEFECTIVE PARTS, THEY HAVE SAID THEY WOULD PAY ONLY HALF OF THE COSTS TO REPLACE THEM. IF ITS THE SAME PART AS THE 2007-2010 THAT TOYOTA KNOWS WERE DEFECTIVE, THEN WHY NOT INCLUDE ALL MODEL TUNDRAS AND SEQUOIAS THAT HAVE THESE PARTS? THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT WAS EXTENDED TO 10 YEARS/150,000 MILES. MY 2005 HAS APPROXIMATELY 121,000 MILES AND WAS CHECKED BY MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHOM REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO ME AND STATED WHAT THE DEFECTIVE PARTS WERE AND THEY ALSO GAVE ME THE INFORMATION REGARDING THE CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM(ZTQ). AFTER STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT. MADE RIGHT TURN UPHILL. TRUCK ACCELERATED QUICKLY LIKE IT WAS FLOORED. ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE EASILY TO SLOW DOWN. TRUCK SPUN 180 ON PAVEMENT, CRASHING SIDEWAYS INTO ISLAND DIVIDER. RIGHT REAR WHEEL WAS SHEERED OFF. TRUCK WAS STOPPED BY REAR BUMPER SMASHING INTO LIGHT STANDARD. SHEERED WHEEL HAD GRIND MARKS AS WHEELS WERE STILL UNDER POWER. THIS WAS POINTED OUT AT SCENE BY LAW ENFORCEMENT. I AM A RETIRED FIREFIGHTER USED TO DRIVING EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT. I HAVE A 2005 TUNDRA 2WD TRD. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE STEERING RACK AND RECOMMENDED THAT I REPLACE BOTH REAR BEARINGS. WHEN LOOKING THE PROBLEMS ON THE INTERNET I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THESE ISSUES ARE VERY COMMON FOR THE TUNDRA IN EARLIER PRODUCTION. THE STEERING RACK WAS MANUFACTURED WITH INFERIOR MATERIAL THAT HAS BEEN KNOWN TO WHERE OUT. THE SAME WITH THE REAR BEARINGS. IF THIS IS SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM WHY HASN'T A FORMAL INVESTIGATION EVER BEEN PERFORMED ON THESE TWO ELEMENTS OF THE TUNDRA. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO CORROSION AND THE PARKING BRAKE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,972. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA HAS A LEAKING EXHAUST MANIFOLD. ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE HARDWARE STORE MY NEW CO DETECTOR WENT OFF INDICATING CO IN THE CABIN. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY REFUSE TO REPAIR. *KB
SINCE MY VEHICLE HIT ABOUT 50000 (THE DATE BELOW IS AN ESTIMATE) AND IT IS AT 79900 NOW WHEN I PARK AND TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND REMOVE THE KEYS AND ROLL UP THE WINDOWS AND LOCK THE VEHICLE AND LEAVE IT A VAST MAJORITY OF THE TIME THE POWER DRIVERS WINDOW ROLLS ITSELF DOWN AT SOME POINT BETWEEN TWO MINUTES AND MANY HOURS LATER ALLOWING FOR ANYONE TO TAMPER WITH ANY OF THE TRUCKS INTERIOR SAFETY DEVICES AND LEADING TO POSSIBLE THEFT OF THE VEHICLE, ITS PARTS AND CONTENTS. IN ADDITION WHETHER THE WINDOW ROLLS ITSELF DOWN OR NOT THE VEHICLES ALARM WILL SOMETIMES SOUND WHEN THERE IS NOBODY NEAR THE VEHICLE AND AFTER HAVING IT CHECKED OUT BY A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER WHO HAD NO IDEA WHAT IS CAUSING IT NOR HOW TO FIX IT AND SENT ME AWAY WITH PROBLEM UNRESOLVED I HAVE TO OPEN THE HOOD EVERY TIME I PARK AND MANUALLY UNHOOK THE NEGATIVE LEAD TO THE BATTERY WHICH FURTHER EXPOSES ME TO POTENTIAL INJURY EITHER FROM BATTERY MALFUNCTION OR ENGINE MALFUNCTION DUE TO THE CONSTANT DISABLING AND REENABLING OF POWER TO THE ENTIRE VEHICLE AND TO MY PERSON DUE TO BEING STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE BY STANDING ON FRONT OF MY TRUCK WITH MY VIEW OF MY SURROUNDINGS BLOCKED BY THE RAISED HOOD AND OTHER DRIVERS VIEW OF ME IN THAT UNEXPECTED LOCATION AS I AM IN LARGE PART BLOCKED FROM VIEW BY THE RAISED HOOD. S10 APPROPRIATE HANDLING- LETTER TO THE SECRETARY FROM REGARDING TOYOTA PROBLEMS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE OIL PAN WAS CRACKED ON THE SIDE, THE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY AND FAN HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WAS LOOSE, THE SPRING WAS STICKING OUT OF THE SEAT COVER. THE CONSUMER HAS SINCE SOLD THE VEHICLE. *JB
AIR INDUCTION PUMP 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA PUMP FAILURE. DEFECTIVE DESIGN. *TR
I GOT INTO TRUCK TO DRIVE AND HAD NO BRAKES. THEY HAD "GONE" OUT OVERNIGHT. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO DEALER AND WE FOUND OUT THAT A BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED OUT. LESS THAN THREE MONTHS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENDED AGAIN. NOW IT IS AN ADDITIONAL TWO LINES THAT HAVE RUSTED OUT. TOYOTA IS TELLING US THAT ITS NORMAL AND NOT UNEXPECTED FOR THIS TO HAPPEN WITH A TRUCK THAT HAS ALMOST 50,000 MILES ON IT. IN ADDITION, SINCE THERE ARE SEVERAL BRAKE LINES ON THE TRUCK, THE OTHERS COULD GO AT ANY TIME. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFELY HAZARD AS THE BRAKES COULD STOP WORKING AT ANYTIME THE TRUCK IS DRIVEN.
UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OCCURRED WHEN PROCEEDING THROUGH AND INTERSECTION AT ABOUT 4:50 PM 01/04/2011. BRAKES WERE APPLIED BUT THE POWER OF THE TOYOTA TUNDA SR5 V8 ENGINE HAD ENOUGH POWER TO ACCELERATE UNINTENDED TO APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH EVEN THO THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AS HAD HARD AS IT COULD BE APPLIED. THE TRUCK CENTERED AN OAK TREE IN THE BLVD APPROXIMATELY 150-200 FT FROM THE INTERSECTION. THE TRUCK WAS TOTALED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY. ONLY THE DRIVER WAS IN THE TRUCK AND NO OTHER VEHICLES AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THE DRIVER SUFFERED A BROKEN LEFT ARM AT THE ELBOW WHICH REQUIRED SURGERY. *LN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS HIT FROM THE REAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE METAL SUPPORT IN THE HEAD REST CAME THROUGH THE PADDING AND HIT HIM IN THE HEAD, CAUSING HIM TO LOSE CONSCIOUSNESS. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE HEAD REST HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED PER THE MANUFACTURER'S REQUEST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 113,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 115,000.
2005 TUNDRA CREW SR5 4.7L. WHEN I COME TO A STOP - THERE IS A HEAVY BUMP (LIKE SOMEONE BUMPED THE REAR END). I HAVE YET TO TAKE IT TO DEALER - I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS TO SEE IF MY ISSUE WAS LEGITIMATE. IT SEEMS OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE. I WILL FOLLOWUP MY COMPLAINT AFTER I VISIT DEALER. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELTS FRACTURED DURING THE CRASH AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER WAS REPORTED INJURED AND TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE HE REMAINED FOR FIVE DAYS TO TREAT INJURIES TO THE SHOULDER AND FACE. HE ALSO SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS DEEMED AS DESTROYED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE SEAT BELT AND AIR BAGS FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,000. UPDATED 3/1/12 *CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA WITH MICKEY THOMPSON-DICK CEPEK RADIAL F-C II TIRES, LINE SIZE LT285/75R16. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 55 MPH WHEN SHE NOTICED AN UNUSUAL SHIMMY IN THE FRONT-END OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE EXHIBITED TREAD SEPARATION. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER HOWEVER WHILE IN TRANSIT, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE ALSO FAILED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO LOCATE A RECALL FOR THE TIRES (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06T003000- TIRES: TREAD/BELT) AND WHEN CONTACTING THE TIRE MANUFACTURER, SHE WAS ADVISED THAT THE RECALL WAS EXPIRED. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED TO TAKE THE LIABILITY FOR THE TIRE AND OFFERED TO CREDIT HER FOR ANOTHER TIRE PURCHASE. THE VIN AND DOT NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER HAVING CODES READ, PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED AS THE AIR INDUCTION PUMP. THE ISSUE IS THAT WHEN THIS PUMP GOES OUT, IT PUTS THE ENGINE IN A "LIMP" MODE, WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO NOT HAVE ADEQUATE ACCELERATION TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS DRIVERS DO NOT KNOW THAT THE "LIMP" MODE OCCURS WHEN THIS HAPPENS. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE REPLACEMENT PART COST OVER $1300. I WOULD THINK A PART OF THAT EXPENSE SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN A LITTLE OVER 50,000 MILES.
MALFUNCTIONING BRAKE SENSORS ON 2005 TUNDRA USES ABS TO OVERRIDE DRIVER'S BRAKING BELOW 10 MPH. THE DEFECT IS THAT "ABS" LIGHT DOES NOT APPEAR ON DASH TO INFORM THE DRIVER THAT HE DOES NOT HAVE FULL BRAKING AUTHORITY OVER THE VEHICLE WHEN THE ABS KICKS IN. THE TOYOTA DEALER HAD DAMAGED THE BRAKE SENSOR WHILE REPLACING THE REAR AXLE BEARINGS. I DROVE THE SERVICE MANAGER TO WITNESS THE LOSS OF BRAKING CONTROL. THE BRAKE SENSOR WAS REPLACED AND PROBLEMS SOLVED. BACK TO THE PROBLEM. I OVER SHOT A STOP LINE BY A FEW FEET IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. LUCKILY, I WAS THE FIRST ONE AT THE RED TRAFFIC LIGHT. IT SOUNDED LIKE THE ABS KICKED IN, BUT ABS LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE. I THOUGHT THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS RECALIBRATING ITSELF (WHO KNOWS HOW ALL THESE ONBOARD COMPUTERS OPERATE THESE DAYS), BUT THE ABS WAS KICKING IN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD BECOME RESISTANT WHEN DRIVING UPHILL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST SHOWED A FAULTY TRANSMISSION SOLENOID. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND MAKING A LEFT TURN. I REALIZED THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHEN I PRESSED DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THE RADIO WAS STILL ON THE HEADLIGHT AND HORN WORKED. I SWITCHED THE BATTERY OUT WITH A NEW ONE. THE ENGINE WOULD STILL NOT START. I WOULD TURN THE KEY AND ONLY THE RADIO WOULD TURN ON. NO NOISE OR RESPONSE FROM THE ENGINE COULD BE HEARD WITH OLD AND NEW BATTERY. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TOYOTA DEALER, THEY REPLACED WHAT THEY SAID WAS A BLOWN OUT IGNITION FUSE. AS I DROVE OUT OF THE PARKING LOT FROM THE TOYOTA DEALER THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AGAIN EXACTLY HOW IT HAD OCCURRED BEFORE. I WAS LESS THAN ONE BLOCK FROM THE DEALER WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE TOYOTA DEALER. *TR
BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED IN 2010 AND IT HAD A LOT OF CORROSION UNDERNEATH THEN. CURRENTLY HAS 50 K MILES. MY BRAKES ARE SQUEALING DUE TO CORROSION PREVENTING THE CALIPERS FROM MOVING AND THE WHEEL WAS CORRODED TO THE HUB AND IT TOOK A LOT OF EFFORT TO REMOVE IT. THE STRUCTURAL MEMBERS AND ALL THE COMPONENTS HAVE LOOSE LAYERS OF RUST. THE EXHAUST HEAT SHIELDS FELL OFF. THE SPARE TIRE RESTRAINT SYSTEM LOOKS TOO WEAK SO I REMOVED THE SPARE. THE SPARE WHEEL IS SO CORRODED THAT THE BOLT HOLES ARE NO LONGER SMOOTH FOR THE LUGS TO BEAR AGAINST EVENLY. I AM CONCERNED THAT SOMETHING BAD WILL HAPPEN EVENTUALLY IF A WEAKENED CRITICAL PART WERE TO FAIL. I DOUBT THE UNDERCOATING TOYOTA IS OFFERING FOR 04 TO 06 TRUCKS CAN HELP MUCH AT THIS POINT. I DON'T WANT TO BE THE GUY WHO DROPS A FUEL TANK ON THE FREEWAY. *TR
I DRIVE A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA THAT HAS ACCELERATED ABOUT A DOZEN TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT IT. SEEMS THAT WHEN I HIT A MAJOR BUMP THAT'S RISING ACROSS THE LANE I'M IN AND GO ACROSS IT, MY TRUCK WILL ACCELERATE MOMENTARILY WITHOUT ME PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL. I CANNOT ALWAYS DUPLICATE THIS ACTION AND WHEN I GO TO THE DEALER IT COMES BACK AS PROBLEM NOT FOUND. TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT, SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE WAS UNRESPONSIVE AND DID NOT SLOW DOWN. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE OTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE TWO PEOPLE INJURED. THE POLICE WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE INSURANCE COMPANYS AUTOMOTIVE BODY SHOP FOR INSPECTION WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 74,645.
I HAVE A TOYOTA TUNDRA 2005 THAT HAS HAD THE THROTTLE DRIVERS UPDATED. I HAVE HAD AT LEAST 6 INCIDENCES OF UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION. THESE INCIDENCES OCCUR AT SLOW SPEED IN MUDDY SITUATIONS. DEPRESSING THE BRAKES TO THE FLOOR DOES NOT STOP THE VEHICLE AND I HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR MISSES. THIS OCCURS IN 2 WHEEL DRIVE AND I BELIEVE IT HAS TO DO WITH THE VSC AND SOFTWARE. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE THROTTLE OR UNWANTED MOMENTUM IS TO THROW THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL. EVEN THIS DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY HELP. I RECOMMEND THE IGNITION KEY AS THE QUICKEST WAY TO STOP THIS. ADDITIONALLY, OUR COMPANY HAS A NEWER TUNDRA THAT IS GETTING FIXED UNDER THE RECALL. THIS TRUCK HAS EXPERIENCED SIMILAR SITUATIONS WITH OTHER EMPLOYEES DRIVING. SLOW SPEEDS IN 2 WHEEL DRIVE, IN MUDDY SITUATIONS THE TRUCK PUSHES YOU UNCONTROLLABLY. I WILL INVESTIGATE MORE ONCE THE TRUCK IS RETURNED WITH THE RECALL REPAIRS. THIS ALL IS RELATED TO THE VSC SYSTEM AND THE SOFTWARE. PLEASE HAVE AN INVESTIGATOR CALL ME. I BELIEVE THAT I CAN EASILY REPRODUCE THIS SITUATION IN THE VEHICLE. SITTING IN TRAFFIC, THE ENGINE REVVED UP BY ITSELF ON MY 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA SR5 V8. PROBLEM WAS ABATED BY TURNING ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTING. THIS PROBLEM RESULTED IN A MIL ERROR THAT SIDE B OF THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING LEAN. AFTER COMPLETING AN ANALYSIS OF THE PROBLEM, THE FINDINGS ARE THAT THE OXYGEN SENSORS ARE NOT RESPONDING TO SPECIFICATION. IT IS MY FIRM BELIEF THAT THE FIRMWARE ON THE ECM DOES NOT SELF CHECK FOR RUNAWAY CONDITIONS. *TR
MY 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA SUDDENLY LOST POWER ON THE HIGHWAY AND STARTED TO BUCK. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER BUT HAD TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED. THE PROBLEM WAS A CORRODED 15 PIN CONNECTOR PLUGGED INTO THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE TRANS. I FOUND THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AT AROUND 80K MILES. THERE IS A NATION WIDE BACK ORDER ON THE PART TO FIX PART OF THIS PROBLEM.

2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA, UNINTENDED ACCELERATION, MY HUSBAND WAS PUTTING IT IN THE DRIVEWAY AND IT ACCELERATED INTO THE NEIGHBORS FENCE AND DROVE OVER A FOUR WHEELER IF HE HADN'T PUT IT INTO PARK HE WOULD HAVE CONTINUED INTO THE NEIGHBORS HOUSE. THE ACCELERATION PROBLEMS HAVE HAPPENED QUITE A FEW MORE TIMES THOUGH NOT TO THIS EXTENT, TOYOTA IS REFUSING TO FIX OR EVEN TAKE A LOOK AT THE TRUCK, SAYING IT ISN'T ON THE RECALL LIST SO IT ISN'T THEIR FAULT. THE TOYOTA PROBLEM IS BIGGER THAN THEY ARE ADMITTING TO AND SOME INVESTIGATING IS NECESSARY, THIS TRUCK IS A DANGER AND THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE. *TR
MY 2005 TUNDRA DOUBLE CAB 4X4 HAS AN ISSUE WHERE YOU FEEL A STRONG THUD AND PUSH FORWARD COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION WHEN YOU COME TO A STOP (SUCH AS A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT). TOYOTA'S ONLY FIX IF TO GREASE THE PROPELLER/DRIVE SHAFTS WELL. I DO THIS WITH EACH OIL CHANGE BUT THE CONDITION PERSISTS EVEN AFTER LUBING THE POWERTRAIN. 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA EXPERIENCE ELECTRONIC FAILURE*CW THE CONSUMER STATED THE MECHANICAL OR ELECTRONIC FAILURE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AS WELL AS INJURIES. MY TOYOTA TUNDRA 2005, V8, 4.7L, 4X4(83,000 MILES) LOST ITS TRANSMISSION POWER WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE TRANSMISSION POWER CAME ON AND OFF ALL THE WAY HOME. LUNGING EACH TIME IT DROPPED OFF AND CAME ON. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER WHO TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $4000.00. IT WAS DISPLAYING P0986 CODE. THE NEXT DAY BROUGHT IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP. THEY FOUND THAT THE WIRE CONNECTOR (15 PIN) THAT GOES FROM THE TRANSMISSION TO THE ECM WAS CORRODED AND THE PINS WERE BROKEN AND NOT MAKING CONTACT. ITS DESIGN IS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE. IT IS NOT PROTECTED AND IS LOCATED IN A PLACE WHERE IT IS EXPOSED TO ALL THE SALT AND WATER RESULTING IN THE PINS BEING CORRODED. INFORMATION COMMUNICATED FROM THE COMPUTER TO THE TRANSMISSION AND BACK IS INTERRUPTED OR INACCURATE. I FOUND THIS INFORMATION ON A WEBSITE AT THE SAME TIME THE INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION SHOP DISCOVERED WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. TOYOTA TUNDRA 2005 - WHEN BRAKING THE FRONT END SHUDDERS AND MOVES BACK AND FORTH. WHEN FRONT BRAKING SYSTEM WAS INSPECTED THE ROTORS HAD WARPED. TOYOTA ISSUED A 2005 REPAIR NOTIFICATION THAT BRAKE ROTORS WERE WARPING BUT DID NOT POSE A SAFETY PROBLEM. TOYOTA RECOMMENDED REPAIRS REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF THE ROTORS, CALIPERS, AND BRAKE PADS. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS WILL RESOLVE THE PROBLEM PER THE REPAIR NOTIFICATION. MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO SHUDDER WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES WITH POTENTIAL LOSS OF CONTROL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
