TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE EXTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR DE-FOGGER WAS ACTIVATED AND FLAMES APPEARED FROM THE WINDSHIELD OF THE VEHICLE. A FIRE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,300.
MY VSC OFF LIGHT HAS BEEN BLINKING WHEN I STARTED MY TRUCK WHEN I GOT OFF WORK AT 3:00P.M. CENTRAL TIME. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AS WELL. I BROUGHT MY TRUCK TO AUTO ZONE FOR A DIAGNOSTICS TEST AND CAME UP WITH CODE P2440. MY VSC OFF LIGHT CAME ON ONE DAY NOT LOO LONG AGO, BUT WENT OFF SO I THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT. LOSS OF POWER.
I HAD MY VEHICLE REPAIRED BASED ON THE 2010 TOYOTA RECALL NOTICE I RECEIVED ABOUT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL NOW SOMETIMES STICKS IN THE HALF-OPEN POSITION AND REFUSES TO RETURN ON ITS OWN. I HAVE USED THE TOE OF MY FOOT TO PULL THE PEDAL BACK TO THE NON-ACCELATERATING POSITION. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED, IF YOU TOUCH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE RPMS WILL INCREASE AND DECREASE ON THEIR OWN, AND EVEN IF THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK POSITION. THIS DOES NOT OCCUR EVERY TIME YOU OPERATE THE VEHICLE, BUT RANDOMLY, AND WITH NO PATTERN. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAS 3/4 TO 1 INCH OF "FREE PLAY" BEFORE IT RESPONDS AND FEEDS GAS TO THE ENGINE. OBVIOUSLY, THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY IF SOMEONE BESIDES MYSELF WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE. TOYOTA INC DOES NOT SEEM TO UNDERSTAND WHY THEIR "FIX" TO YOUR ORIGINAL RECALL ABOUT THIS DOES NOT WORK, OR THEY HAVE CREATED AN ADDITIONAL PROBLEM WITH THEIR "FIX" TO THE 2010 RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TIRE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER SEVERAL TIMES WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TPMS RECEIVER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,591.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF AN UNYIELDING VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED CHIN, SHOULDER, NECK, AND BACK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.

MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE BEYOND 40 MPH. WHEN I HAD THE CODE READ IT CAME BACK AS IT WAS P2440 SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM SWITCHING VALVE STUCK OPEN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH OVER A POTHOLE, AN ABNORMAL GRINDING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THE SKID PLATE DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE SKID PLATE DETACHED AND NEW POP RIVETS NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
PAINT ON ROOF OXIDIZING, IN ABOUT 12 X 6INCH AREA. PAINT ON THE REST THE VEHICLE IN VIRTUALLY FLAWLESS. THE VEHICLE IS WASHED FREQUENTLY AND WAXED AT LEAST TWICE A YEAR. *TR
DIDN'T NOTICE TILL AFTER A MILE OF DRIVING BUT MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, VSC, AND 4LO WERE FLASHING. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 50 MILES PER HOUR. UNFORTUNATELY THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSED AND I TOOK IT IN TO AUTO SHOP TO GET THE CODES SCANNED TO PROVIDE TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. IN ORDER TO GET HOME I HAD TO GET THE CODES CLEARED OUT TO GET IT OUT OF LIMP MODE BUT I DROVE IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND PROVIDED THE CODES AND NECESSARY INFORMATION. UNFORTUNATELY THEY NEEDED TO GET THE CODES OFF THEMSELVES I EXPLAINED THAT THERE WAS A 2007 AND 2008 TUNDRA ? TSB 032908 BUT THEY COULDN'T VERIFY THE PROBLEM AND TOLD ME THAT NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS TO BRING IT IN WITHOUT RESETTING THE CODES. WELL IT HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY ALMOST A MONTH LATER. I'M TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP OTHER THAN THE INITIAL ONE AS TOWING CHARGES WOULD BE OUTRAGES. I HOPE TOYOTA CAN GET HIS CORRECTED FOR OTHERS REGARDLESS IF YOU HAVE THE CODES OR NOT IT SHOULD BE A MANDATORY NOTICE FOR ALL TOYOTA TUNDRA OWNERS SO YOU DO NOT GET STRANDED FAR FROM A DEALERSHIP OR EVENTUALLY HAVE THAT ISSUE AS IT IS PROVIDED ONLY IF YOU HAVE UP TO 150K MILES OR 10YEARS FROM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. *TR
I HAD 2 OCCURRENCES OF UNINTENTIONAL ACCELERATION. BOTH EVENTS TRANSPIRED AS FOLLOWS: 1) APPLIED BRAKES IN PREPARATION OF STARTING ENGINE AND ENGAGING TRANSMISSION. 2) STARTED ENGINE, PUT IT IN "DRIVE" AND ENGINE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND JUMPED FORWARD. 3) I IMMEDIATELY APPLIED BRAKES WITH MAXIMUM EFFORT TO COUNTER THE ACCELERATION. 4) THREW SHIFTER INTO "NEUTRAL" WHILE ENGINE WAS MAXING RPMS, THEN I SHUT DOWN ENGINE. BOTH EVENTS WERE CLOSE CALLS. IF I HAD NOT HAD PRESENCE OF MIND I WOULD HAVE DESTROYED THE VEHICLE AND PROPERTY. VEHICLE WAS EVALUATED BY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY SAY THEY FOUND NO REASON FOR THE EVENTS. I CONTEND THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE AND NEED TO HAVE IT PURSUED. *TR
I GOT AN OBD II CODE P2440 SECONDARY AIR INJECTION VALVE STUCK OPEN AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND ALMOST GOT STUCK IN THE ROAD. FROM WHAT I'VE READ THERE ARE QUITE A FEW VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS BUT I NEVER GOT A LETTER FROM TOYOTA INDICATING THE ELONGATION OF WARRANTY ON THE AFFECTED PART/S FOR 2007-2010 TUNDRA'S AND SEQUOIAS. I'M TRYING TO RESOLVE IT RIGHT NOW WITH TOYOTA BUT THEY HAVEN'T GIVEN ME A FIRM ANSWER AS TO IF IT WAS WARRANTY RELATED OR NOT. *TR
I TOOK MY TUNDRA INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT, FOR THE POWER WINDOW MOTOR RECALL. THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAD BEEN COMING ON FOR ABOUT A YEAR. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THAT MEANS THE AIRBAG IS INOPERABLE. I ASKED THEM TO CHECK AND TELL ME WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. THEY RAN A CHECK,(CODE B1801) AND SAID TO RULE OUT SOME OTHER PROBLEM THEY WOULD FIRST HAVE TO CHANGE OUT THE SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY, AT MY COST. APPARENTLY THAT FIXED THE ISSUE. IT SEEMS ODD TO ME THAT WITH 8 MILLION SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY'S UNDER RECALL, THAT THAT WOULD BE THE ISSUE HERE, AND IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. THE TOTAL COST WAS $507.13, TO ME. DO I HAVE ANY RECOURSE? TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE GAVE ME THIS WEBSITE ADDRESS TO REPORT THE ISSUE, SINCE THEY ARE UNWILLING TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY HERE. THEY SAID "THEY CAN'T PREDICT WHAT WILL GO WRONG WITH A VEHICLE". *TR
I RECENTLY PURCHASES A USED 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA DOUBLE CAB FROM A PRIVATE PARTY. I TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE ON AC PAVEMENT WITH NO MAJOR ISSUES, BUT UPON PURCHASING AND DRIVING ON MY TYPICAL FREEWAY COMMUTE TRAVELING AT NORMAL SPEEDS (55-70MPH) IT SHAKES VIOLENTLY. THE SHAKING RESONATED AT ONE POINT SO VIOLENTLY THAT I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HAD TO DRASTICALLY SLOW DOWN TO REGAIN CONTROL. I AM FEARFUL OF MY SAFETY AND THAT OF ANY PASSENGERS, ESPECIALLY MY CHILDREN. I HAVE SUBSEQUENTLY FOUND FORUM INFORMATION ONLINE THAT SPEAKS TO THIS "BED BOUNCE" PROBLEM, AND A RELEVANT TSB FROM TOYOTA. HOWEVER, I CANNOT FIND AN OFFICIAL TSB FROM TOYOTA ONLINE OR A GENUINE FIX TO THE PROBLEM. PLEASE HELP BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE I JUST BOUGHT A VEHICLE THAT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, AND NEEDLESS TO SAY VERY ANGRY THAT TOYOTA HAS NOT ADDRESSED THIS PROBLEM IN FULL. *TR
TOYOTA REPLACED MY ACCELERATOR PEDAL BACK WHEN THEY HAD CARS THAT WOULD UNINTENTIONALLY ACCELERATE. NOTHING HAD BEEN PROVEN WRONG WITH MY PEDAL, THERE WERE NO SYMPTOMS. HOWEVER, TUNDRA WAS DOING A NATIONWIDE RECALL IN THE NAME OF SAFETY CONCERNS. WHEN THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME, THE PEDAL WAS JUST FLOPPY AND SENSITIVE AS COULD BE. THE CAR WOULD JUST LAUNCH ITSELF FORWARD. HITTING BUMPS ON THE ROAD CAUSED THE CAR TO ACCELERATE. THIS RECALL WAS DONE AT 28K MILES. NOW AT 65K MILES, WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR. I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND WENT TO ACCELERATE. THERE WAS NO FRICTION OR PEDAL FEEL WHATSOEVER, THE CAR ACCELERATED AND THANK GOD DUE TO RAIN, INSTEAD OF BEING PROPELLED, I SKID FORWARD ABOUT A FOOT. THERE WAS A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF SENSITIVITY AND PEDAL FEEL WAS GONE. ***THIS ON THE SUPPOSED "FIXED" PEDAL. I TOOK THE CAR TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN GAINESVILLE, GATORLAND TOYOTA WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THEY TESTED THE CAR AND BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, THEY STATED THEY WOULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. NOT EVEN REPLACE THE PEDAL AGAIN. THERE ARE PLENTY OF TOYOTA OWNERS ON THE INTERNET COMPLAINING THAT THINGS ARE STILL WRONG WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDALS AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT. TOYOTA HAS VEHICLES ON THE ROAD THAT COULD POTENTIALLY LAUNCH THEMSELVES AND THEY ARE DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. FRONT DIFFERENTIAL WENT OUT AT 48K MILES. IT COST ME $2000 TO REPLACE. I READ VARIOUS BLOGS AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON MANY TUNDRAS BUILT BETWEEN 2007-2013. I DON'T DRIVE MY TRUCK VERY OFTEN AND I TREAT IT VERY GENTLY. THIS WAS A HUGE EXPENSE BILL FOR ANYBODY TO ABSORB. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE LEAF SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
POWERTRAIN: DRIVELINE : DRIVESHAFT. VIN CHECK INFO SHOWS 12 RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE. NHTSA SHOWS 0 RECALLS. HAD TO REPLACE SHAFT ASSY DUE TO FLUID LEAKING AT 13,000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND DISCOVERED THAT BOTH OF THE FUEL TANK SKID GUARD BRACKETS WERE PARTIALLY DETACHED. THE CONTACT TEMPORARILY SECURED THE BRACKETS WITH A ROPE AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. AT ABOUT 90,000 MILES, TAIL-SHAFT SEAL LEAKS, REPLACED SEAL AND U-JOIN, AGAIN AT ABOUT 140,000. GEARS FEEL LIKE STUTTERING WHEN STEP ON ACCELERATOR. *TR
CHECK ENGINE CAME ON, TOOK TO LOCAL TOYOTA SHOP, CHECKED CODES, P0012, CAMSHAFT POSITION, "A" TIMING OVER RETARDED-BANK ONE & P0022 SAME FOR BANK NUMBER TWO. ACTIVATED BOTH VVT SYSTEMS & CHECKED OPERATION OF BOTH VVT. ALL WORKING FINE AT THIS TIME. ALL FOUR OIL CONTROL VALVES TEST WORKING FINE AT THIS TIME.CHECKED OIL CONTROL VALVE FILTER TEST WORKING FINE AT THIS TIME. IF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN AFTER THAT, THEN NEED TO REPLACE CAMSHAFT TIMING GEARS INSIDE ENGINE. HAS TOYOTA ADDRESSED THIS PROBLEM? ARE THERE ANY RECALLS? *JS

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ABS WARNING LAMP, STABILITY CONTROL WARNING LAMP, BRAKE WARNING LAMP, AND THE ENGINE WARNING LAMP WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION WHILE IDLING THE VEHICLE SLOWLY ACCELERATED UP AN INCLINE INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. AFTER TRYING TO SWITCH MY TRUCK INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE LO, THE 4 WHEEL LO LIGHT & SYMBOL WOULD FLASH AND NEVER ENGAGE. I TRIED MANY TIMES, MAKING SURE THE VEHICLE WAS ON A LEVEL SURFACE, AT A COMPETE STOP WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED, SHIFTING FROM 2 WHEEL DRIVE TO 4 WHEEL HI AND THEN PLACE THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND TRIED TO SWITCH INTO 4 WHEEL LO....NOTHING, IT WILL NOT ENGAGE. IT WILL HOWEVER SHIFT BACK TO 4 WHEEL HI AND BACK TO 2 WHEEL DRIVE. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, I ONLY USE 4 WHEEL DRIVE HI, DURING SNOW STORMS IN NH AND ONLY USE 4 WHEEL LO TO DRIVE UP MY DRIVEWAY, IN VERY DEEP SNOW AMOUNTS (16"-20" DEPTHS). AFTER FINDING THIS VERY DISAPPOINTING PROBLEM, I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH OUR LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER. THEY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR THE DAY AND WAS ABLE TO REPLICATE THE SAME PROBLEM. ACCORDING TO THE TECH AND SERVICE MANGER, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE ACTUATOR HAS FAILED, THUS REQUIRING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSFER CASE, ACTUATOR AND A COMPUTER PROGRAM? ANY WAYS THIS WAS A TOYOTA SERVICE BULLETIN WHICH REFERRED THIS REMEDY FIX AND AT THE COST OF (DRUM ROLL PLEASE) $5,200.00 ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I'M AN EX AUTO MECHANIC AND PERFORM A MAJORITY OF MY SCHEDULED SERVICE AND GO TO TOYOTA FOR OTHER MAINTENANCE REPAIRS AND OR SERVICE, IN FACT MY ENTIRE FAMILY VEHICLE HISTORY CAN BE FOUND AT THIS DEALERSHIP PROVING OUR DUE DILIGENT VEHICLE UP KEEP AND LOYALTY. NOW DON'T TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY, THIS NH TOYOTA DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN GREAT AND HELP US WITH MANY OTHER EXPENSIVE REPAIRS AND I'M NOT BLAMING THEM. I POINT THE BLAME AT THE TOYOTA CORPORATION, FOR NOT STEPPING UP TO MAKE THIS REPAIR AS A PRIORITY, AFTER ALL MY FAMILY HAS OWNED (10) TOYOTA VEHICLES OVER THE PAST 20 YEARS AND ALL OF THEM HAVE REACHED THE 150K - 180K MILES WITHOUT THIS PROBLEM OCCURRING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD RUMBLING NOISE FROM THE REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE WHEEL BEARING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BOTTOM OF THE TAILGATE AND THE BED BOLTS WERE DETERIORATED. RECENTLY WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA, MY DRIVESHAFT FELL OUT OF THE SLIP YOKE AT THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK BEHIND THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER A SHUTTERING OF THE TRUCK I FINALLY STOPPED. LUCKILY, I WAS ONLY GOING 10 MPH AND THE DAMAGE WAS LIMITED TO THE REQUIREMENT FOR MY DRIVE SHAFT TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS AN ITEM IDENTIFIED BY TOYOTA AS A PROBLEM, HOWEVER, MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SAFETY RECALL. ISSUES WITH TOYOTA'S SECONDARY AIR INTAKE PUMP SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR ISSUE. SINCE 2007, NOW TOYOTA HAS CONTROL OVER THE NECESSARY PARTS AND WILL RELEASE AS THEY SEEM FIT. I HAVE WAITED OVER TWO WEEKS TO GET THESE PARTS AND INSTALLED. AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG IT WILL BE COULD BE WEEKS. THEY KNOW THAT THE PUMP HAS ISSUES AND WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM TILL IT GOES BAD. AND IF YOUR DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND YOU LOSE POWER THAT COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE. I STARTED MY TRUCK UP YESTERDAY JUST RANDOMLY TO GO TO THE STORE. AS SOON AS I STARTED IT A BUNCH OF WARNING LIGHTS WENT OFF. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, THE 4WD LO LIGHT WAS BLINKING, THE VSC OFF LIGHT WAS BLINKING, AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WAS ON. I THEN TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES. I TURNED THE TRUCK BACK ON AND THE SAME WARNING LIGHTS WERE STILL ON. I THEN PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY TO GO TO A FRIENDS HOUSE WHO HAS A LITTLE COMPUTER THAT TELLS YOU WHAT ERRORS ARE GOING OFF WHEN YOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON LIKE AN AUTOBODY. AS I PULLED ONTO THE MAIN ROAD AND PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR THE TRUCK WOULD BARELY GO. THE ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE IT USUALLY DOES BUT THE TRUCK WOULD HARDLY ACCELERATE. WHEN I FINALLY GOT TO MY FRIENDS HOUSE HE PLUGGED THE COMPUTER IN AND IT GAVE ME AN ERROR CODE OF P2440. ONCE I LOOKED MORE INTO IT I FOUND THAT IT WAS THE AIR INDUCTION PUMP THAT WAS MALFUNCTIONING. FURTHER RESEARCH ONLINE I FOUND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH TUNDRA'S WITH MILEAGE BETWEEN 40K AND 60K. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS WHY THE VEHICLE IS NOT ACCELERATING LIKE IT SUPPOSED TO. MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME CONCERN. THAT IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD TO ME. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THAT WOULD JUST ALL OF A SUDDEN SHUT MY ENGINE DOWN TO THE SLOW CRAWL THAT IT IS DOING IF I AM ON A TURNPIKE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. TOYOTA HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS VERY ISSUE, BUT WHEN I TOOK IT IN THEY SAID IT WAS TOO OLD AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT. WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES AGE MAKE? ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER, WHICH ALMOST CAUSED HIM TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HIS LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO INFORMED HIM OF WHAT THE FAILURE WAS. WHEN THE MECHANIC CALLED TOYOTA ABOUT THE PARTS, THE MECHANIC WAS INFORMED ABOUT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM THREE YEARS/36,000 TO FIVE YEARS/ 70,000. THE MECHANIC WAS ALSO INFORMED ABOUT A DEFECT WITH THE SYSTEM, WHICH CAUSED WATER INFILTRATION, WHICH COULD COMPROMISE THE SYSTEM. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONSUMER TO VISIT THE DEALER. THE DEALER DID CONFIRM THE DIAGNOSIS WAS CORRECT. HOWEVER, THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE WARRANTY ONLY APPLIED TO A FEW STATES AND THE CONSUMERS STATED WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE CONSUMER PAID $2300 FOR THE REPAIR.

6/20/12 I NOTICED MASTER POWER WINDOW BUTTON ON DRIVER?S SIDE DOOR FOR THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW WAS STUCK AND WOULD NOT OPERATE. 6/21/12 I STARTED THE TRUCK IN MY DRIVEWAY AND TURNED ON THE AC, LEFT THE VEHICLE TO GRAB MY BRIEFCASE AND GET IN NO MORE THAN 15 SECONDS. WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR I NOTICED SMOKE AT THE ENTRYWAY BUT COULDN?T IDENTIFY WHAT OR WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. I APPEARED TO GO AWAY SO I THOUGHT I WAS IMAGINING SOMETHING. I GOT IN THE TRUCK AND NOTICED THE SMELL OF BURNING ELECTRICAL WIRES ABOUT THE TIME MY HEAD TURNED I SAW SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE DRIVERS SIDE POWER WINDOW MASTER CONTROL AND GETTING BIG FAST, I OPENED THE DOOR AND IT REALLY CAME OUT FAST. TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND IMMEDIATELY TRIED TO SEE IF IT WAS FLAMES OR NOT. IT WAS NOT IN FLAMES BUT THE SMOKE WAS STILL COMING OUT. I GRABBED THE FUSE BOX PANEL AND TRIED TO IDENTIFY THE FUSE FOR THE POWER WINDOWS. IT TOOK A CALL TO THE DEALERSHIP TO IDENTIFY THE FUSE UNDER THE DASHBOARD I DIDN?T KNOW WAS THERE I THOUGHT THEE WAS ONLY 1 FUSE PANEL BOX. THE DEALERSHIP WAS EXTREMELY RESPONSIVE AND A LOT OF HELP. SERVICE ADVISOR WE IDENTIFIED THE CORRECT FUSE, REMOVED IT AND THE SMOKE STOPPED. I HAVE NO OTHER PROBLEMS THAT I KNOW OF. THIS IS A 2007 VEHICLE WITH A FIRE DEFECT. I WENT ON THE INTERNET AND SEE THAT THERE ARE IDENTIFIED PROBLEMS FOR THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM BUT THE TUNDRA WAS NOT IDENTIFIED AS A MODEL AFFECTED BUT IT SURE SHOULD BE.
