2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA TRUCKS WINDSHIELD CRACKING MORE THAN SEEMS NORMAL. SIXTY THOUSAND MILES AND SEVEN TIMES THE WINDSHIELD HAS CHIPPED AND NOW OVERNIGHT ONE HAS RUN ABOUT TWELVE INCHES LONG. OTHER CHIPS I HAD FIXED BEFORE RUNNING,IS THINNER GLASS THE PROBLEM?*TR
2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA HAS AIR INJECTION FAILURE WHICH PUTS THE TRUCK IN "LIMP" MODE OR NO POWER. I WAS ENTERING THE EXPRESSWAY AND COULD NOT GET MY TRUCK ABOVE 40 MILES PER HOUR. I WAS ABLE TO PULL ONTO THE SHOULDER TO AVOID A MAJOR CRASH. TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT CHARGES $4000 FOR THE REPAIR. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR OVER 6 WEEKS. THIS IS DUE TO IMPART TO A NATIONAL RECALL. THIS SEEMS IN MY OPINION AS A WAY FOR TOYOTA TO PROFIT FROM A FAULTY DESIGN AND A POTENTIAL LIFE THREATENING CONDITION. *TR
AIR INJECTION SYSTEM FAILURE CAUSES A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO APPEAR AND CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO "CRIPPLE" MODE LIMITING THROTTLE AND SPEED TO 40 MPH WHICH COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN IN SOME DRIVING CONDITIONS. DEALER STATED THEY ARE "FIXING" ~2 VEHICLES A DAY AND REPLACING THE AIR INJECTION PUMPS AND VALVES FOR A TOTAL COST OF ~$4000 IF THE VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE. IN MY CASE, THE DEALER REPLACED ONE PUMP A WEEK AGO AND NOW THE SECOND PUMP HAS FAILED ($1100 FOR EACH PUMP). THERE HAS NOT A DESIGN CHANGE TO THE PUMPS OR VALVES IN THE SYSTEM WITH THE REPLACEMENT PARTS SO THE FAILURE WILL HAPPEN AGAIN IN ANOTHER 30-50K MILES. DEALER CLAIMS MOISTURE IN THE SYSTEM IS CAUSING THE PROBLEMS. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH ON THE PROBLEM SHOWS THE PROBLEM IS SYSTEMIC WITH 2007+ TUNDRAS AND SEQUOIAS WITH THE 5.7L V8. OTHER MANUFACTURES USE AN AIR INJECTION SYSTEM WITH A MUCH LOWER COST AND THERE DOES NOT SEAM TO BE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THEM. *TR
VEHICLE LOSS OF POWER, UNABLE TO PULL OUT SAFELY IN TRAFFIC. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHILE BRAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THE BACKING PLATE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 108,000. UPDATED 7/10/13 *CN
WATER IN THE AIR INDUCTION PUMPS CAUSING ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN AND HAVE NO POWER AT SPEED. ENGINE LIGHTS COME ON AND TRUCK IS DISABLED OR HOBBLED WITH LOW SPEED ONLY. THIS HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED AS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH TUNDRA 2007-2008 OWNERS. *TR
I HEAR A STRANGE, ALMOST SLIPPING SOUND SOMETIMES WHEN I TAKE OFF, OR TURN A CORNER, ALMOST LIKE I'M NOT GETTING TRACTION. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME AND NEVER WHEN I TAKE IT IN..IS THIS NORMAL OR SOMETIME I SHOULD WORRY ABOUT? *TR
APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS AGO I HAD THE ACCELERATOR RECALL REPAIR WORK COMPLETED ON MY 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA, AFTER, I NOTICED RANDOMLY WHILE I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT, INTERSECTION ETC. I WOULD ACCELERATE THE TRUCK WOULD FEEL AS IF SOME ONE PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL, AND THEN HIT THE BRAKE. IT STARTED OUT VERY MILD. AND I THOUGH IT MAY HAVE JUST BEEN ME CAUSING IT. ON 11 MAY 2010 WHILE TAKING MY 4YR OLD TO DAYCARE IT DID IT AGAIN. BUT THIS TIME IT WAS VERY HARD. THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION CAUSED MY HEAD, AS WELL AS MY SONS TO GO BACK AND HIT OUR HEAD REST. THE TRUCK ACCELERATED THREE TIMES IN A ROW. IT WAS AS IF WE WERE RIDING A BUMPY ROLLER COASTER RIDE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. HE STATED THAT ON MAY 5, 2010, WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP AND HE HAD TO SWERVE TO PREVENT CRASHING INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP AND WAS TESTED BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 102,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 108,000.
I HAD MY TRUCK IN FOR SERVICE AND THEY FIX THE GAS PEDAL WHICH HAS MADE IT WORSE. THE TRUCK HESITATES THEN LURCHES AHEAD. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. ALSO THE TRANSMISSION IS MAKING A BANGING NOISE AND DOESN'T SHIFT RIGHT. IT BANGS ON ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALERS SHOP AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM BUT WON'T FIX IT. *TR
MY TRUCK SUDDENLY LOST ABOUT 80% OF ITS POWER AND WOULD HARDLY ACCELERATE. VERY DIFFICULT TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. DEALER SAID THIS WAS DUE TO FAILURE OF THE "SECONDARY AIR INTAKE VALVE." THIS APPEARS TO BE VERY COMMON IN 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRAS. *TR
TOYOTA TUNDRA 2007 LOSS POWER .DEALER WAS TESTING AIR PUMP ASSY FOR BANK2 AND EMISSION CONTROL VALVE FOR BOTH BANKS NEED TO BE REPLACE .IT WILL COST $ 3000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AN APPROXIMATE SPEED OF 21 MPH AND APPROACHING A CURVE, HE APPLIED THE BRAKES TO DECREASE SPEED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ABNORMALLY ACCELERATE, WITH HIS FOOT STILL DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL. THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. HE CONTINUED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE AND THERE WAS A SLIGHT HESITATION IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MAJOR BODY DAMAGE TO THE LEFT FRONT END AND WAS REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAD BEEN SHORTENED AFTER AN AUTHORIZED DEALER REPAIRED IT PER NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V388000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: ACCELERATOR PEDAL). THE CONTACT WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE REPAIR AND INSTEAD REQUESTED A NEW PEDAL. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THERE WAS A NEWLY DESIGNED PEDAL AVAILABLE FOR PREORDER; YET, THE DEALER TOLD HIM THAT THE PART DID NOT EXIST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE NEW PEDAL WAS AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO CONFIRMED THAT THE ONLY REMEDY AT THE TIME WAS TO SHORTEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY RISK SINCE THE PEDAL COULD BECOME STUCK IN THE OPEN THROTTLE POSITION. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 31,998. UPDATED 07/21/10. *LJ
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED ON A CURVY ROAD, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK IN THE OPEN THROTTLE POSITION. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE WOULD DECREASE IN SPEED MOMENTARILY BEFORE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATING AGAIN. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A GUARD RAIL. THE VEHICLE BOUNCED OFF THE GUARD RAIL AND THE CONTACT FELT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL RELEASE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THE FAILURE POTENTIALLY COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY A STUCK ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,129 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,537.
MY WIFE CAME VERY CLOSE TO GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT WHILE BRINGING THE KIDS TO SCHOOL A FEW WEEKS AGO. SHE WAS LEAVING A STOP SIGN GETTING ONTO A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY WHEN OUR 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA UNEXPECTEDLY HAD DRASTICALLY REDUCED POWER. AFTER A TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP AND SOME RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT THE REDUCTION IN POWER WAS CAUSED BY A FAILURE IN THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM. THIS SYSTEM IS PART OF THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM AND IS DESIGNED TO INCREASE EFFICIENCY DURING COLD STARTS. WHEN THERE IS A FAILURE IN THIS SYSTEM THE ECM (ONBOARD COMPUTER) GOES INTO A MODE IN WHICH THE AVAILABLE POWER FROM THE ENGINE IS DRAMATICALLY REDUCED. TOYOTA HAS RECOMMENDED THAT I REPLACE TWO AIR INJECTION PUMPS AND A SWITCHING VALVE SET AT AN ESTIMATE OF OVER $3500. I AM RESEARCHING OTHER OPTIONS BECAUSE THEY TELL ME THAT THIS PROBLEM CAN CONTINUE TO REOCCUR OVER AND OVER AGAIN. *TR
ALL FOUR OF MY DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING WITHIN A MONTH. ALL FOUR WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. NOW, ALL FOUR LOCKS HAVE STOPPED WORKING AGAIN WITHIN A MONTH. TOYOTA SAID THAT THEY SEE NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY WITH THIS. THEY EXPECT ME TO PAY $2,000. TO REPLACE 4 LOCKS AGAIN. TOYOTA SAID THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS ITEM. *TR
TOYOTA TUNDRA 2007 W/ 4WD. VEHICLE WENT FROM NORMAL 2 WHEEL DRIVE INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE LOW WITHOUT WARNING, WITHOUT TOUCHING ANY CONTROLS. COULD NOT DRIVE FASTER THAN 30 MPH, ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON. TURNED INTO DEALER, THEY SAID IT WAS A COMPONENT IN THE ENGINE THAT FAILED. THE WARRANTY INSPECTOR CAME BY TODAY AND THE HISTORY DATA ON THE MEMORY HAD BEEN ERASED AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE. VEHICLE IS STILL IN THE SHOP. DEALER STATES IT IS DEFECTIVE BUT THE WARRANTY DOES NOT WANT TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED AIR PUMP IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD FAILED. THE CONSUMER BELIEVE THE PROBLEM MAY BE THE ECU. LEFT HOME TO GO TO WORK. INTERSTATE IS APPROXIMATELY 1/2 MILE FROM HOUSE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ON FREEWAY SEVERAL DASH WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON MY 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. TRUCK STOPPED ACCELERATING ON THE MERGE AND I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY AN EIGHTEEN WHEELER. TOOK MY TUNDRA TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD I HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY EMISSION AIR INDUCTION PUMPS. SERVICE TECH TOLD ME THAT THE MAIN COMPUTER PUT MY TRUCK INTO A "LIMP" MODE THUS PREVENTING ME TO COMPLETE THE ACCELERATION. HE ALSO STATED THAT HE COULDN'T GIVE ME A REASON WHY TOYOTA HAS PROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER TO FAIL INTO LIMP MODE WHEN THE PROBLEM WOULD NOT HURT THE TRUCK DURING NORMAL ACCELERATION. AFTER RESEARCHING THE WEB, I DISCOVERED MANY 2007 TO 2010 TOYOTA TUNDRA OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. RESTRICTING A VEHICLE TO PERFORM UP TO STANDARDS PUTS THE DRIVER IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE "LIMP" MODE HAS NO GOOD REASON OTHER THAN TO GET THE OWNER INTO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT! *TR
2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. CONSUMER STATES SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL REINFORCEMENT BAR INSTALLATION. ONE MONTH AFTER THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED, WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY REDLINED AND WENT SIDEWAYS IN THE MIDDLE OF A FOUR-LANE HIGHWAY. THE CONSUMER STATED HE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH, WHEN SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO 95 MPH. THE CONSUMER MANAGED TO CORRECT THE DIRECTION OF THE TRUCK AND THE ACCELERATION SUDDENLY STOPPED AND HE REGAINED CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. DURING THAT TIME, THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ACTIVATED. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE COMPUTER AND REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. *JB
TOY. 2007 5.7 CREW-MAX 4+4 P2440 CODE CAME ON AND TRUCK WENT INTO SAFETY MODE .GREATLY REDUCED SPEED . 4 LO LT. COMES ON AS WELL AS ENGINE,TRACTION AND ANTI SLIP LTS. I CARRY A HAND-HELD CODE DETECTOR AND CLEAR THE CODE AS SOON AS IT COMES UP AND CONTINUOUSLY CLEAR IT AS I'M DRIVING. TOYOTA WANTED 3400.00 TO FIX THIS DEFECT AFTER I BOUGHT 3 NEW TUNDRAS FROM THEM EVERY 3 YEARS. THIS HAS GONE ON FOR 13 MO. 8 MO. INTO IT MY TRUCK STARTED DYING AND WOULD NOT START FOR SEVERAL MIN.WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AND WAS STRANDED IN MIDDLE OF ROAD MORE THAN ONCE. THIS WENT ON FOR 1 WEEK 2 DIFFERENT TIMES THAN IT STARTED RUNNING AGAIN WITH JUST THE P2440 CODE COMING UP ALL THE TIME AND SHUTTING ME DOWN. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY MANY PEOPLE INCLUDING MY BROTHER IN LAW WHO ALSO HAD A 2007 TUNDRA EX. CAB. THEY FIXED HIS BECAUSE HE WAS ONLY 1500 MILE OUT OF WARRANTY. WHEN MY TROUBLE STARTED I WAS AT 70,000+ MI. DEFECT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH AMT. OF MILES,JUST TIME(AFTER 3 YRS.)AFTER 13 MO. STILL NO HELP FROM TOYOTA AND NO RECALL. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF A RECALL (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V017000- VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: ACCELERATOR PEDAL) AND HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. SINCE THE REPAIRS, THE VEHICLE BEGAN EXHIBITING INSTANCES OF INCREASED ENGINE RPMS AND RAPID ACCELERATION EVEN WHEN MINIMAL PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES WITH ACCELERATION BEFORE THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. BOTH THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED BUT NEITHER WAS WILLING TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,600 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,630.
I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA AND HAD THE GAS PEDAL FIXED LAST WEEK UNDER THE RECALL. SINCE THE REPAIR MY GAS PEDAL IS SUPER SENSITIVE TO PRESSURE. THE FRICTION TO PUSH THE PEDAL DOWN IS CONSIDERABLY LESS AND CAUSES THE TRUCK TO LUNGE AS I ACCELERATE UNEVENLY. IT IS MOST NOTICEABLE ON A BUMPY ROAD WHEN THE PRESSURE FROM MY FOOT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MAINTAIN AT AN EVEN PRESSURE. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THOUSANDS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED AND NO ONE HAS EVER COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS. I HAVE SPENT THE LAST SEVERAL HOURS SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR SIMILAR STORIES AND FOUND A COUPLE. IN MY OPINION THIS IS MORE SERIOUS THAN BEFORE THE SO CALLED FIX. I WANT THIS FIXED AND DO NOT SEEM TO BE GETTING ANYWHERE UNTIL MORE PEOPLE COME FORWARD. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA WITH 4.7L THAT DOESN'T LIKE TO START ALL THE TIME. WHILE THIS ISN'T A SAFETY ISSUE I BELIEVE YOU ARE LOOKING INTO THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS PROBLEM ASSOCIATED WITH THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION. AS A FORMER MECHANIC/CURRENT ELECTRICIAN/AS IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING I BELIEVE MY PROBLEM IS DEFINITELY ELECTRICAL IN NATURE. I'M NOT SURE IF IT IS RELATED BUT I FIGURED I WOULD SEND A MESSAGE AND GIVE YOU A HEADS UP. ALSO THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED CASE AS ANOTHER GENTLEMAN IN TOWN HERE HAS THE SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. WE HAVE BOTH BEEN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES AND THEY STILL WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. TODAY I AM SENDING MY PAPERWORK TO A LAW FIRM WHO SPECIALIZES IN THE PA LEMON LAW. 2007 TUNDRA GAS PEDAL STICKS EVEN AFTER DEALER INSTALLED A SHIM IN FEBRUARY 2010. *TR
ON SATURDAY, MARCH 13, 2010 AROUND 4:30 TO 5:00PM, MY WIFE [XXX] EXITED NW 5TH COURT FROM I95 TO NW [XXX] MIAMI, FLORIDA. AS SHE WAS APPROACHING THE STOP SIGN ON [XXX] , SHE COMMENCED TO PRESS THE BRAKES. TO HER DEMISE, AFTER PUSHING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP, THE VEHICLE, A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA CREW CAB DID NOT STOP, INSTEAD, AUTOMATICALLY INCREASED SPEED TO OVER 20 MPH. SHE WAS FORCED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ON 71ST STREET TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT OR FROM CRASHING UNTIL A 1990 TO 1994 GREEN FORD EXPLORER GOING AT SPEEDS WELL OVER 50 MPH ON NW 5TH COURT COMING FROM THE EAST TO WEST, RAMMED/CRASHED INTO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE TOYOTA TUNDRA AS MY WIFE WAS MAKING THE LEFT TRYING TO EVADE TRAFFIC AND MAKE THE TUNDRA STOP. FOUND ARTICLE IN LOS ANGELES TIMES SAYING WORRIES MAY NOT COME FROM MATS BUT FROM BRAIN IN VEH. WHICH I BELIEVE USA GOV. IS MAKING THEM CHECK IF THAT WERE THE PROBLEM IS COMING FROMUNDER TOYOTA'S RUNAWAY CAR WORRIES MAY NOT STOP FLOOR MATS. I CALLED TOYOTA SOUTHEAST FINANCE AND TOLD THEM I DID NOT WANT THIS TUNDRA TRUCK ANY LONGER TOLD ME THEY WILL NOT TAKE IT BACK HAS 9K MILES ON IT ALREADY HAD TRANSMISSION LEAK CD PROBLEMS AND SO FORTH I NEED TO KNOW HOW I CAN HAVE THEM TAKE THIS TRUCK BACK.
