TL*THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED BETWEEN APPROXIMATELY 80-100 MPH, CRASHED INTO A TREE AND THE DRIVER WAS KILLED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE CRASH WAS RELATED TO THE RECALL ABOUT THE AFTERMARKET ALL WEATHER FLOOR MATS BECOMING STUCK AND CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, IT AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTED FROM PARK INTO NEUTRAL ON TWO OCCASIONS. DURING THE FIRST INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE ROLLED INTO THE FRONT OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. DURING THE SECOND INCIDENT, THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,850.
THE PARKING BRAKE DOES NOT HOLD THE TRUCK. RIGHT FROM THE DAY I DROVE IT OFF THE DEALER LOT IT WAS WEAK. ON STEEP HILLS IT WAS QUESTIONABLE WHEN POINTING UP THE HILL AND WOULD NOT HOLD POINTING DOWN. HAD DEALER LOOK AT IT AND DEALER SAID IT WAS FINE. SINCE THEN (MULTIPLE TIMES) IT HAS GOTTEN TO THE POINT THAT IT IS COMPLETELY INEFFECTUAL. AFTER ADJUSTMENT IT WILL HOLD ON A SLIGHT HILL BUT NOT A STEEP HILL AND NEVER WHEN IN GEAR. AT 32000 MILES WOULD NOT HOLD AT ALL EVEN AFTER ADJUSTMENT. SO NEW PARKING BRAKE SHOES ETC AND IT WON'T HOLD. MECHANIC ADJUSTED THE BRAKES THE MOST POSSIBLE (SO IT WON'T DRAG AND OVERHEAT) AND DOES NOT HOLD. NOTE THAT PEDAL HAS BEEN ADJUSTED SO THAT THE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL DOES NOT HIT THE FLOOR. ONLY GOES ABOUT 1/2 WAY DOWN WHICH IS CORRECT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE BEGAN TO IDLE EXCESSIVELY AND WHEN IT WAS IN GEAR IT LUNGED FORWARD AND BACKWARDS WHENEVER THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES. THE TOYOTA MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER SO THEY COULD CHECK THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT RELATED TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL INSTEAD IF WAS THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE BEGAN TO OCCUR MORE FREQUENTLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,194.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON CONCRETE SURFACE, I HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERE VEHICLE SHAKING ON MY NEW 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. UPON INVESTIGATING THIS I HAVE NOTED MANY OTHER OWNERS EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM AND CALLING IT TUNDRA BED BOUNCE. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS. NEITHER DEALER WOULD ACKNOWLEDGE A PROBLEM OR OFFER ANY SOLUTIONS. ONE OF THE DEALERS SUGGESTED I ADD ABOUT 200 POUNDS OF WEIGHT TO THE BED OF THE TRUCK TO TRY TO IMPROVE THE RIDE. I CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER TO COMPLAIN OF THIS PROBLEM AND WAS GIVEN A CASE FILE NUMBER. THEIR REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THAT TOYOTA HAS RECEIVED MANY COMPLAINTS BUT AT THIS POINT IN TIME THEY ARE DOING NOTHING TO CORRECT THIS DEFECT OR PROBLEM. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD TO ANYONE ON THE ROAD. *TR
NUT HOLDING THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEAT DUCT WAS LOOSE. THIS ALLOWED THE HEAT DUCT TO FALL DOWN AND BLOCK THE DRIVER'S USE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. LUCKILY FOR ME I WAS NOT ON A BUSY STREET OR DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THIS DEFECT ALMOST COMPLETELY BLOCKS THE DRIVERS USE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL. IF THIS HAPPENS TO SOMEONE ON A CROWDED FREEWAY AT SPEED THEY COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED IN THE ACCIDENT. *TR
TOYOTA 2007 TUNDRA TWICE ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY DUE TO A STUCK ACCELERATOR ON THE FACTORY FLOOR MATS, WHICH ARE A VERY THICK RUBBER AND DON'T COME WITH SAFETY CLIPS. MAT WAS MOVED BACK BUT FEAR IT MAY SLIDE FORWARD AGAIN. *TR

THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED THREE SEPARATE TIMES AND THEY STATED THAT THE PARTS FOR THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE VIN, PURCHASE DATE, AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
YOU ALREADY HAVE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT TAILGATE FAILURE ON 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA TRUCKS. I HAVE READ ABOUT THEM AND SEEN THE PICTURES. I HAVE PERSONALLY CONTACTED TOYOTA MOTORS TO GET A SAFE WEIGHT MAXIMUM FOR THIS TAILGATE AND THEY HAVE TWICE REFUSED TO PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION. IN THEIR LATEST CORRESPONDENCE THEY CLAIM THE TAILGATE HAS NO RATING AS IT IS NOT A WEIGHT BEARING PART. THIS CONTRADICTS THEIR OWN WEBSITE WHERE THEY SELL A BED EXTENDER ACCESSORY THAT IS USED TO INCREASE THE CAPACITY BY USING THE TAILGATE AS A WEIGHT BEARING PART OF THE TRUCK. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ASSISTANCE YOU CAN PROVIDE TO FORCE TOYOTA TO REVEAL THE SAFE TAILGATE WEIGHT LIMITS. *CN
VEHICLE HARD TO STOP WITH A/C OR HEADLIGHTS ON. ENGINE IDLES NORMALLY 5-600 RPM, UNTIL PARKING LIGHTS OR A/C IS TURNED ON. THEN IT IDLES AT 800 RPM IN GEAR. SOMETIMES IT FEELS LIKE YOU'VE BEEN REAR ENDED, AFTER COMING TO A STOP. IF DRIVING SURFACE IS SLIPPERY AND PUT INTO GEAR WITH HEAD LIGHTS ON, THE REAR TIRES WILL BEGIN TO SPIN, WITHOUT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR. THIS IS A DAILY OCCURENCE THAT HAS BEEN TAKEN TO DIFFERENT TOYOTA DEALERS WITH NO RELIEF. ALL THEY CAN SAY IS THAT THE COMPUTER SAYS EVERYTHING IS OKAY. TURNING THE PARKING LIGHTS ON DOES NOT CAUSE ENOUGH LOAD ON THE ENGINE TO WARRANT THE EXTRA 200 OR MORE RPM. THE OTHER DAY ( 01/26/2010 ) I WAS TURNING AROUND IN A MUDDY DRIVEWAY AND WHILE IDLING I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT. I LET MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND THE TRUCK WENT STRAIGHT, EVEN AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES, LEAVING TWO BIG RUTS THROUGH MY FRIENDS YARD. THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE GROUND BEING SLIPPERY AND THE HIGH IDLE SPEED. I AM SURE THAT THIS WILL CUT DOWN ON THE LIFE OF THE BRAKES. 4.7 V8 ENGINE *CN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED EXCESSIVELY TO THE POINT WHERE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BOUNCED UP AND DOWN ON THE CONTACT'S FOOT. THE FAILURE WAS MOST NOTICEABLE WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAYS. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT COULD NOT PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THROUGH RESEARCH AND PROFESSIONAL CONSULTATIONS, THE FAILURE WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE HARMONIC VIBRATION CAUSED BY THE EXPANSION JOINTS. THE CONTACT FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 209.
I UNDERSTAND THERE HAVE BEEN THE 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA HAS HAD A NUMBER OF RECALLS FOR REAR PROPELLER SHAFT, FRONT BALL JOINTS, BRAKES, SEAT BELTS, AND TAILGATES. I CAN'T FIND THE 2007 TOYOTA MODEL TUNDRA LISTED IN YOUR DATABASE. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED ON THE NEWS, NEWSPAPER, AND VARIOUS INTERNET SITES THANK YOU STEVE OHMAN *TR
2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA DOUBLE CAB 4X2 5.7LTR V-8. VEHICLE HAS AN EXTREME AND DANGEROUS "BED BOUNCE" OR VIBRATION AT ALL REGULAR HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON CONCRETE TYPE FREEWAYS WITH EXPANSION JOINTS. THE VEHICLE BECOMES VERY UNSTABLE AND FEELS AS IF CONTROL WILL BE LOST. IT IS COMPLETELY UNBEARABLE. DEALER REPORTS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA OWNERS. ALL 2007 TUNDRA MODELS EXHIBIT THIS FAILURE AND IT STEMS FROM A DESIGN FLAW IN THE CHASSIS/SUSPENSION. WHILE TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF 55 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM CCELERATING BY APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPRODUCED. ONE MONTH AFTER THE FAILURE THE CONTACT RECEIVED NHTSA RECALL NOTICE # 10V017000 FOR THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: ACCELERATOR PEDAL. SHE TOOK HER VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE REPAIR PERFORMED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 6177.
I NOTIFIED TOYOTA MOTOR MANUFACTURING OF ALABAMA QUALITY CONTROL IN LATE 2007 AND AGAIN IN EARLY 2008 OF BOTH OF MY TUNDRAS SPEEDING UP ON THEIR OWN. I ACTUALLY WORK AT THE TOYOTA PLANT AND WAS TOLD TO NOT BREATH A WORD OF THIS TO ANYONE THAT IT HAD TO DO WITH MY JOB. I HAVE A LOT MORE INFORMATION ON THIS AND TOYOTA HAS HAD ME GO TO DEPOSITIONS OVER THIS BUT HAVE TRIED TO GET ME TO BELIEVE THEIR WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLES. I AM NOW COMING FORWARD. *TR

THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATED THAT THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS. THE DEALER ADVISED HIM TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER; HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE DEALER WOULD REPLACE THE TIRES. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER COULD PROVIDE ASSISTANCE. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 900.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE LUG NUTS WERE DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED WITH DIFFERENT STYLE LUG NUTS AND WHEELS. THERE HAD BEEN NO FURTHER OCCURRENCES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,600 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 15,120.

WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE ODOMETER AND CLOCK DISPLAYED INACCURATE READINGS. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A CHECK UP. AFTERWARDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THERE MAY BE A LEAK. THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, AND NUMBER OF CYLINDERS WERE UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE BOUNCES HORRIBLE AT SPEEDS OF 60-80MPH ON CONCRETE FREEWAYS. AS PER DEALER I HAVE ADDED 200# OF ADDED WEIGHT TO THE REAR, TO WHICH THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED. THE BOUNCING IS VERY NOTICEABLE IN THE REAR SEATS, SO MUCH SO THAT I AM NOT COMFORTABLE HAVING MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AS A PASSENGER. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE SINCE WE PURCHASED THIS AS A FAMILY VEHICLE. I HAVE INSPECTED THE TIRE PRESSURE AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY NOTICEABLE EFFECT ON THE BOUNCING. I FEEL THE VEHICLE IN UNSAFE ON THESE ROADS AND COULD VERY EASILY BECOME UNSTABLE. *TR

NOTICED AN EXCESSIVE VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND SEAT. WHEN DRIVERS SUNVISOR WAS SWUNG OVER TO SIDE WINDOW IT SHOOK LIKE CRAZY, AS A VISUAL INDICATION! DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THIS BUT THERE IS NO FIX FOR IT. AFTER MAKING A COMPLAINT WITH MANAGEMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY ATTEMPTED TO BALANCE THE TIRES AND PERFORM AN ALIGNMENT. THIS DID NOT HELP. I WAS ALSO TOLD TO PUT WEIGHT IN THE BED. THIS DID NOT HELP. SHOP FOREMAN CALLED THIS THE "TUNDRA BOUNCE" AFTER HE DROVE IT AND CONFIRMED MY COMPLAINT. AFTER THREE ATTEMPTS WITH THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE PROBLEM I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA TO START THE ARBITRATION PROCESS. *TR
2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA DOUBLE CAB ACCELERATOR STUCK WIDE OPEN. UPON GETTING ON AN ON RAMP THE TOYOTA TRUCK ACCELERATOR STUCK WIDE OPEN. I SLAMMED MY FOOT AGAINST THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE TRYING TO GET IT UNSTUCK WITH NO SUCCESS. BY THE TIME I HIT 90 MPH I ENDED UP PUTTING THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AT WHICH TIME THE ENGINE RAN ALL THE WAY UP TO ITS TOP RPM WHILE HITTING THE REV LIMITER. I THEN SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND COASTED TO A STOP. THE FLOOR MAT WAS NOT INTERFERING AND THIS WAS PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE. STRANDED ALONG THE HIGHWAY I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO CAUTIOUSLY RESTART THE VEHICLE. RESTARTING THE VEHICLE RESULTED IN THE THROTTLE RETURNING TO ITS NORMAL POSITION. THIS HAPPENED SATURDAY AFTERNOON. *TR
MY TAILGATE IS CRACKING ALONG THE INSIDE SEEM. THIS LOOKS TO BE A COMMON FLAW JUDGING BY THE TOYOTA FORUMS ON THE INTERNET. I DON'T EVEN HAVE 4000 MILES ON MY TRUCK, AND HAVE ONLY USED IT FOR LIGHT/MEDIUM DUTY. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A HEAVY DUTY TRUCK AND THIS LOOKS TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
1.MY TAILGATE LATCH SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING AS EXPECTED AND IS FLIMSY. 2. MY TAILGATE IS WEAK AND SMALL CRACKING AT SEAMS AT SIDE WHERE NOT WELDED, AND THIS IS WITH MY 215 LB. FRAME STEPPING ON IT TO GET IN BED. I WANTED TO PURCHASE BED EXTENDER TO CARRY LONGER OBJECTS AS I HAVE DONE IN MY TRADED IN F 150 BUT TAILGATE CANNOT HANDLE MY WEIGHT MUCH LESS OBJECT. I KNOW OTHERS THAT LOAD ATV'S AND MOTORCYCLES WITH COMPLETE SEAM FAILURE, SO I DON'T DARE PUT MORE WEIGHT ON GATE. GATE CAN COME OFF EASY AS I HAVE NOTED IN FRIENDS TUNDRA WHILE HAULING WITH TAILGATE DOWN. TOYOTA DEALER BLAMED HIM FOR DOING SOMETHING WE HAVE BEEN DOING WITH OUR WORK TRUCKS FOR OVER 10 YEARS. THE GATE PANEL TO ACCESS INTERNAL GATE COMPONENTS IS SO THIN THAT JUST BY PRESSING WITH HAND, I CAN BEND IT. YOU MUST UNDERSTAND THAT A TAILGATE NEEDS TO BE MORE DURABLE IN ITS LATCHING DESIGN, WHICH MY CREWMAX IS NOT, AND DEFINITELY NOT COME APART AT SEAMS BY SOMEONE SITTING ON IT OR BEND AND FAIL. THERE IS A STANDARD IN WHICH I AS WELL AS OTHERS ARE USED TO IN TAILGATE STRENGTH AS I HAD ON 1999 F 150 WITHOUT ANY ISSUES AND WITH THREE GROWN MEN SITTING ON GATE WITH COMBINED WEIGHT OF OVER 650 LBS GATE WON'T BEND AND FRAME DIDN'T COME APART AT SEAMS. I HAVE A MOTORCYCLE THAT I NOW CANNOT USE EXTENDER TO HAUL DUE TO THIS POOR DESIGN. I AM A FIRST TIME TOYOTA OWNER AND I LIKE MY TRUCK OVERALL, BUT IT IS A TRUCK AND I EXPECTED TO USE IT AS SUCH. I LIKE MY TUNDRA VERY MUCH, HOWEVER, I BELIEVE ANY REASONABLE PERSON WOULD CONCLUDE THAT THE TAILGATE IS OF POOR DESIGN, AND QUESTIONABLE STRENGTH FOR ?THE TRUCK THAT IS CHANGING IT ALL?. WE WILL SEE WHAT TOYOTA WILL DO OR NOT DO ABOUT THIS. I HAVE FIXED LATCH AT DEALER TEMPORARY BUT I KNOW THERE IS TSB IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THE RECALL ON MY 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA FOR RUSTED FRAME WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER WHO SAID THEY WOULD SPRAY IT WITH RUST PROHIBITIVE. I WAS A MECHANIC FOR MANY YEARS AND IF THE FRAME IS NOT STRIPPED DOWN AND SANDBLASTED TO METAL THERE IS NO GUARANTEED METHOD TO STOP THE RUSTING. TOYOTA SHOULD BE MADE TO REPLACE ALL THE FRAMES OTHERWISE IN A FEW YEARS THERE WILL BE MORE BROKEN FRAMES ON THE ROADS. WE BOUGHT A NEW 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA DOUBLE CAB IN AUGUST. WE DISCOVERED ON CERTAIN FREEWAYS (CONCRETE) THE BED BOUNCE IS TERRIBLE. THE ENTIRE TRUCK BOUNCES TO THE EXTENT THAT MY HUSBAND GETS SICK TO HIS STOMACH AFTER A 20 MINUTE DRIVE. I REFUSE TO TAKE MYSELF OR OUR GRANDCHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE.
