NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2010 Toyota Tundra. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2010 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while attempting to register the vehicle, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 100,000 and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was 250,000.
Took my 2010 Tundra in for service at a local repair shop and was told that my frame has severe rust on the frame and is in poor condition. I am worried about the safety of this vehicle for me and my family. I am the only owner of the truck and purchased it brand new. What can be done? Thank you
Rusting frame on the vehicle leading to potential cracks and creating safety concerns. Truck has low miles and been well maintained. This is my second Toyota truck with a rusted frame. No help or support from Toyota on my concerns with the 2010 Tundra.
Gas Pump: Over the last few months, the vehicle has stalled twice, with the engine not functioning. Upon turning the ignition switch, the starter engages and the engine cranks, but it does not sustain operation. In both cases, the vehicle was able to start and run only after numerous attempts, exceeding 10 to 15, while consistently pressing the gas pedal.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while the vehicle was in for inspection, the mechanic discovered corrosion present on the subframe of the vehicle. The contact stated that along with corrosion, the subframe was cracked and had several holes. The cause of the damage was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failures, but no assistance was provided. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not eligible for the manufacturer's Extended Warranty coverage for the failure. The failure mileage was 82,000.
I am writing to formally bring to your attention a troubling situation I have encountered regarding the purchase of a vehicle that I believe constitutes fraud. On [XXX], I, [XXX] , purchased a 2010 Toyota Tundra from Beaverton Car Company in Beaverton, Oregon. I agreed to a high-interest loan, expecting to refinance the vehicle shortly thereafter. However, upon attempting to trade the vehicle on September 13, 2024, I learned that the outstanding loan balance exceeded the truck's value due to an illegal odometer rollback. The dealer informed me that the odometer had been rolled back prior to the auction from which they acquired the vehicle; at the time of sale, it displayed 81,000 miles but had actually accrued 268,000 miles. Despite signing the CARFAX indicating a “potential odometer rollback,” I was misled regarding the vehicle’s actual mileage. This significant discrepancy has caused financial distress and I believe it breaches legal statutes regarding odometer accuracy. Given the dealership’s dishonesty and the impact on my financing arrangements, I am seeking a full refund for the vehicle. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to your guidance on how to proceed. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My 2010 Toyota Tundra is like new and only has 56,000 miles on it. I ordered new tires and when I brought it to have the tires installed I was told me the frame was rusted through and they couldn’t lift it off the ground. They were concerned with me driving it and suggested that I bring it to my Toyota dealership and see what they could do. The dealership said there was nothing they could do because there was no recall on my vehicle. I asked if they could look at it to see it was safe to drive, and was told there would be a $167 to just look a my vehicle. I called Toyota Customer Service (800-331-4331) to complain and opened case# 23122000824. I called a frame shop to make an appointment to have it looked at and was told that they get lots of Tundra’s in with rotted frames. Apparently Toyota is ignoring this problem. They had an issue with rusted frames on the Toyota Tacoma and they issued a recall.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact stated that when she arrived at her destination her husband noticed something hanging from underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed with a rusted rear fuel tank strap. The contact was informed that the fuel tank strap needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 187,000.
Rusted frame failed PA state inspection. This has been a well maintained vehicle and should not be experiencing that much corrosion.
I received a check engine light for the secondary injection system. Toyota extended the warranty but wont honor issues after 10 years, even though the truck has less than 100K miles. This is a safety issue as the trucks performance is altered and concerned about passing a car on a two lane highway. The repair can range from $2K to $4K pending on the dealer.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving at 30 MPH, the contact suffered a blackout and struck the side rail causing major damage to the front end of the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact had several injuries. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 800. The VIN was not available.
I can’t drive to back only to the from. When I did to back I listen is stocked.
Premature corrosion of frame. I had the truck into the shop for an unrelated issue when the service tech discovered holes in the vehicle frame. The technician was uncomfortable working on the vehicle on the lift because it is a safety hazard. Toyota claims my vehicle was not included in any of the previous frame recalls or service programs, and while bad steel is a known issue with Toyota, they are unwilling to replace the frame on my truck because all previous recalls were VIN specific. My vehicle has no surface rust, but has enough frame corrosion to deter trained service technicians from working on it. If the frame is unsafe to be working on, it is unsafe to put my family in, and Toyota is permitting the sale and use of unsafe vehicles.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at an independent mechanic for an inspection, the mechanic informed her that the subframe was severely corroded and unable to haul the weight of a camper. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 74,300.
While driving my Tundra, I heard a bumping and scraping sound beneath the truck. Upon further examination, the front Fuel Tank strap had corroded and broken into 2 pieces leaving only the rear fuel tank strap to retain the fuel tank.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. Upon inspection, the contact noticed that the rear leaf springs had separated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rear leaf springs needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that the driver's side Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve had been replaced twice. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the passenger's side PCV valve was faulty. The mechanic replaced the passenger's side PCV valve. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was 61,606.
The chassis on my 2010 Tundra is badly rusted. The rust is also evident in the bed of the truck. I was informed of the rust during my quarterly servicing of the vehicle. I was recently informed the rust has gotten really bad.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that the rear seat belt was inoperable. The contact stated that the clasp failed to close. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the pin was open and causing the latch to fail to close securely. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 175,361.
The frame of my truck has developed an unsafe amount of rust.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Tundra. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21E103000 (Steering). The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel made popping and grinding sounds while making turns. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that he needed to pay out-of-pocket for the diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the recall repair would only be performed if the vehicle had had the power steering gear assembly replaced since August 2021, which the vehicle had not. The failure mileage was approximately 147,000.
Upon inspection of the underside I my tundra I noticed the rear bumper nearly rusted away. Further inspection showed major rusting of the tow tongue tunnel, rear shock supports and spots on the frame.
DOOR ACTUATORS ARE DEFECTIVE. MANUFACTURER USED DEFECTIVE INTERNAL PLASTIC PART, RESULTING IN DOORS NOT LOCKING, NOT UNLOCKING, AND NOT FUNCTIONING. CHILDREN CANNOT EXIT BACK DOOR WITHOUT MANUALLY UNLOCKING THE DOOR
I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK NEW. IT HAS 70,000 MILES. THE BED AND BUMPERS HAVE EXTENSIVE RUST HOLES, COMPLETELY THROUGH. LAST YEAR, THE GAS TANK FELL OUT WHILE DRIVING DUE TO RUSTED THROUGH FUEL TANK STRAPS. NOW, THE REAR AXLE HAS STARTED LEAKING DUE TO A RUSTED OUT REAR AXLE HOUSING.I AM A 64 YR OLD VET AND AFRAID TO DRIVE THE TRUCK. IF I FILL UP THE REAR AXLE IT WILL GET ON THE ROAD AND TIRES I HAVE CALLED AND EMAILED TOYOTA AND THEY TOLD ME TO FIX IT AT MY EXPENSE.
TOYOTA REFUSED TO HONOR A KNOWN ISSUE, CAUSE THE TSB EXPIRED IN MARCH 2020. WITH THE ADMISSION OF A KNOWN PROBLEM THEY SHOULD HONOR AND FIX THE PROBLEM TSB 01-60-11, AIR INJECTION PUMP
I WAS DRIVING AND BOTH OF MY LEAF SPRINGS SNAPPED AND EVERYTHING CAME LOOSE

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND WAS DRIVING 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE DRIVER DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE KEPT MOVING FORWARD. THE DRIVER HAD TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND SHIFT INTO PARK TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DRIVER HAD TO DETACH THE BATTERY TO RESET THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA OF HOLLYWOOD (LOCATED AT 1841 FL-7, HOLLYWOOD, FL 33021, (866) 332-6839) WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 09V388000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL), 15V689000 (VISIBILITY), AND ANOTHER UNKNOWN RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER ON DECEMBER 30, 2019 AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE MECHANIC FORGOT TO RESET THE SOFTWARE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,605.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT AND ONLY OCCURRED AT LOW SPEEDS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. *PM *TP
PASSENGER REAR LEAF SPRING BROKE FOR NO REASON, NOT TOWING LOOSE PIECE THEN FLIPS AROUND HITTING SURROUNDING STRUCTURES AND WHEELS POTENTIALLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT
THE TRUCK SHAKES REALLY BAD CAUSING ME TO NOT BE ABLE TO DRIVE PAST 50 MPH. HAVE HAD TIRES REPLACED, ALIGNMENT DONE, AND NEW BRAKES. HAVE ALSO HAD TIRES BALANCED. STILL SHAKES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE HEARD IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR LEAF SPRING WAS FRACTURED AND CONTAINED RUST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURER RECALL CAMPAIGNS: (INTERIM E12) AND E02 CONCERNING THE REAR LEAF SPRING, ALTHOUGH THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
ENGINE LEAKING OIL WHILE RUNNING AT THE CAM TOWERS ON BOTH SIDES CAUSES OIL TO DRIP ONTO ENGINE EXHAUST HEADER. THIS UNSAFE CONDITION COULD CAUSE A FIRE. THIS CONDITION HAPPENS TO ALL 4.6 AND 5.7 TUNDRA AND SEQUOIA ENGINES PRODUCED AFTER 2007. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURE MADE THESE ENGINES WITH INFERIOR SEALANT AT THE CAM TOWERS.
DRL DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT BULB AND SOCKET GET TO HOT AND MELT OVER TIME.
DRIVESHAFT BROKE AT THE REAR YOKE. METALERGICAL FAILURE. TOYOTA HAS HAD MANY SAFETY RECALLS FOR DRIVESHAFT FAILURES, AS OF 12/27/2018 THEY HAVE NOT HAD A RECALL ON 2010 TUNDRAS. TOYOTA CLEARLY HAS AN ISSUE WITH THEIR MANUFACTURE OF DRIVESHAFTS. NEVER IN MY 43 YEARS OF DRIVING HAVE I EVER HAD A DRIVESHAFT BREAK. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK WHEN SHE NOTICED S SERIOUS VIBRATION AND PULLED THE TRUCK TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ON AN OFF RAMP TO S HIGHWAY. THE DRIVESHAFT HAD BROKEN AND THE TRUCK HAD TO BE TOWED. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY SAID MY TRUCK HAD NO RECALL ON THE DRIVESHAFT DESPITE ALL OF THEIR PREVIOUS RECALLS FOR DRIVESHAFT PROBLEMS
TAKATA RECALL,GAS PEDEL ACCELERATION AGGRESSION IN MOTION
I NOTICED A RATTLING COMING FROM THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. I STOPPED TO INVESTIGATE AND FOUND A BROKEN LEAF SPRING RUBBING AGAINST THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE. HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY IT MAY HAVE CAUSE THE TIRE TO POP. THERE ARE MULTIPLE POSTS DETAILING THE SAME BREAK OF THE LEAF SPRING AND THE RESULTING TIRE DAMAGE ON THE INTERNET.
AIR BAGS (MANUFACTURE UNKNOWN) ON SEPT 29, 2018 WHILE DRIVING ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY AT 50 MPH, MY STEERING WHEEL AND KNEE BAGS INFLATED FOR NO REASON. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND LOST SIGHT OF THE ROAD FOR SEVERAL SECONDS BECAUSE OF THE FOG ON THE WINDSHIELD. WHEN THE FOG CLEARED, I COULD SEE THAT I WAS GOING TO END UP IN A FIELD AND THAT I HAD CROSSED THE CENTER LINE. I TRIED TO BACK OUT OF THE FIELD BUT COULD NOT BECAUSE OF THE MUDDY CONDITIONS. I CALLED MY WIFE, TOLD HER THE AIR BAGS HAD INFLATED FOR NO REASON. I ASKED HER TO CALL AAA FOR A TOW TRUCK. WHILE SPEAKING TO HER, A MAN WALKED UP TO ASK IF I WAS OKAY. I SAID YES. HE THEN ASKED IF I REALIZED I HAD HIT AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. I WAS NOT. I HAD NOT SEEN ANY OTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE "FOG" FROM THE AIR BAG. I ASKED HIM WHAT VEHICLE AND HE POINTED TO A MAN IN A RED SHIRT STANDING IN FRONT OF A WHITE PICKUP WITH DUEL REAR WHEELS. I TOLD MY WIFE I NEEDED TO GO SEE IF ANYONE WAS INJURED, GOT OUT OF MY TRUCK AND WALKED BACK TO THE OTHER TRUCK. NO ONE WAS INJURED IN THE ACCIDENT. I WAS TOLD BY MY INSURANCE ADJUSTER THAT THERE WAS APPROXIMATELY $7,000 DAMAGE TO THE OTHER TRUCK. MY VEHICLE WAS TOTALED.
2 OF 3 LEAF SPRING ON DRIVER'S SIDE BROKE IN HALF AND 1 OF 3 ON PASSENGER SIDE BROKE IN HALF. UNSURE OF ACTUAL TIME OF FAILURE BUT ONE SPRING BROKE OFF AS I WAS STOPPING AT A STOP LIGHT ON A CITY STREET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. HURLBERT TOYOTA (58 CALEF HWY, EPPING, NH 03042, (603) 693-1010) DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPIRAL CABLE WAS FAULTY AND LOCATED FAILURE CODE: B1801. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,379.
REAR LEAF SPRINGS. REAR LEAF SPRING BROKEN- APPEARS TO HAVE JUST BROKE. DO MINOR TOWING MAYBE 4000 LBS A FEW TIMES A YEARS. VEHICLE HAS 88,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE NEVER HAD A LEAF SPRING BREAK. THIS IS DEFINITELY A MATERIAL FLAW.
I WAS DRIVING THE THE ROAD ON A CITY STREET WHEN I HEARD A RATTLING SOUND. I CHECKED UNDER THE TRUCK TO SEE WHAT THE NOISE WAS. THE LEFT REAR LEAF SPRING WAS BROKEN WHICH COULD HAVE GONE INTO THE TIRE POSSIBLY CREATING A SITUATION OR AN ACCIDENT. I AM UNSURE WHAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THIS. I DID NOT HIT ANY POT HOLES OR LARGE BUMPS IN THE ROAD. I CHECKED WITH THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THEY WANT OVER $900 FOR A NEW LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY, THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE LABOR. I HAVE NEVER HAD A LEAF SPRING BREAK IN THE 1997 GMC 1500K PICKUP TRUCK I PREVIOUSLY OWNED FOR 16 YEARS. I HAVE READ OTHER SIMILAR TOYOTA TUNDRA LEAF SPRING BREAK REPORTS ON THE INTERNET. I THINK TOYOTA SHOULD FIX THIS WITHOUT CHARGE. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 88,000 MILES ON THE TUNDRA.
I WAS INFORMED BY CARFAX THAT MY TRUCK WINDOW SWITCHES MAY CONTAIN THE WRONG TYPE OF LUBRICANT IN THE SWITCHES OR MECHANISM
ONE OF THE LEAFS IN THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE LEAF SPRING BROKE AND SLID AGAINST THE TIRE RIM WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. THE PIECE OF LEAF SPRING "COULD" HAVE JAMMED IN MY RIM AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT OR DAMAGE OR FALLEN OFF CAUSING A PROBLEM FOR DRIVERS FOLLOWING ME. I HAVE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL OTHER TOYOTA TUNDRA OWNERS AND THEY HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH CRACKED / BROKEN REAR LEAF SPRINGS. I HAVE TO ASSUME THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE SINCE I WAS UNABLE TO PURCHASE NEW LEAF SPRINGS FROM TOYOTA IN A TIMELY FASHION BECAUSE THE HAD A LARGE BACK ORDER ON LEAF SPRINGS FOR MY MODEL.
7 YEAR OLD TRUCK WITH UNDER 20K MILES HAS MAJOR RUST IN THE BED. I HAVE NOT EVEN HAD ANYONE LOOK AT IT YET BUT THE SURFACE RUST ON THE DRIVERS SIDE NEAR REAR OF BED APPEARS RUSTED DOWN TO FRAME OR UP FROM FRAME. IT IS ABOUT A 3X3 INCH AREA. SAME SPOT ON PASSENGER SIDE HAS EARLY STAGES OF THE SAME RUST OCCURRING. I HAD A TOYOTA PROVIDED BED LINER IN THE BED.
FAULTY PASSENGER SIDE REAR LEAF SPRING. BUSTED IN HALF AND TWISTED RESULTING IN BOUNCING OFF MANY UNDER NEATH PARTS AS WELL AS POSSIBLE INTERFERENCE WITH TIRE. RESULTING DAMAGE SEEMS TO BE DIRECTLY INLINE WITH THE TACOMA RECALL THAT ISN'T BEING FIXED ON THE TUNDRAS.
I HAVE A 2010 CREWMAX WITH 79K MILES. DURING A RECENT VISIT TO A LOCAL BODY SHOP THEY NOTICED THAT THE BED OF THE TRUCK WAS RUSTING IN FOUR SEPARATE PLACES WHERE THE CROSS MEMBERS ATTACH TO THE FRAME. A TSB WAS ISSUED, OBVIOUSLY A KNOWN ISSUE FROM TOYOTA, BUT I NEVER RECEIVED VIA MAIL. THE TRUCK WAS SERVICED AT LOCAL DEALERSHIP BUT THIS ISSUE WAS NEVER CHECKED. IT HAS A FACTORY INSTALLED TOYOTA BEDLINER. WHEN PURCHASED, I HAD THE UNDERCOATING APPLIED WITH THE EXPECTATION THAT THIS WOULD PREVENT THE RUSTING. HOWEVER, SINCE THE RUST BEGINS FROM THE BOTTOM IT IS NOT EASILY IDENTIFIED. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND MADE A PHONE CALL TO TOYOTA CORP TO NO AVAIL. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS NO RESPONSIBILITY AND CORPORATE IS STANDING FIRM ON THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY. VERY DISHEARTENING TO SPEND THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY ON A TRUCK THAT HAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THE COMPANY WILL NOT BACK IT UP. I AM FOND OF THE VEHICLE BUT IF IT IS REMEDIED I WILL NOT RECOMMEND NOR PURCHASE ANOTHER TOYOTA FOR MYSELF OR MY FAMILY.
RUST IN TRUCK BED COMING FROM BOLTS THAT CONNECT BED TO FRAME. HUGE AMOUNTS OF RUST. BED CONNECTION POINTS FAILING BECAUSE OF RUST. TOYOTA HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT THE ISSUE THE BOLTS ARE CAUSING THE RUST BUT DID NOTHING ABOUT IT WHILE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE TRUCK CAME WITH A TOYOTA DROP IN BED LINER SO I WAS NEVER AWARE OF THE ISSUE UNTIL I LOOKED UNDER THE BED LINER RECENTLY. THE RUST HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR A LONG TIME BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF RUST PRESENT.I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THE REFUSE TO FIX THE ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION POWER. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE NORMALLY, BUT THE ACCELERATION POWER WAS LOST AND THE WARNING INDICATOR WAS STILL ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS AIR INJECTION PUMP FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE FAILURE, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS OVER THE MILEAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
