THE DEALERSHIP SAID PCV VALVE WENT OUT AND CAUSED REAR MAIN SEAL TO BREAK, WHICH IS THE REASON MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR IS NOW LEAKING OIL. THE PCV VALVE APPEARS TO BE FINE, NOTHING IS STUCK, NOTHING CRACKED, THE GASKET IS NOT DAMAGED EITHER. THE CAR NOW HAS 80K MILES ON IT AND IM STUCK WITH $1800 REPAIR BILL FOR THE REAR MAIN SEAL.
ENGINE KEEPS STALLING, HAD FUEL PUMP REPLACE PER 4TH RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE CAR STILL STALLS, EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I HAVE TWO KIDS IN THE CAR. THE CAR WONT GO IN REVERSE LIKE A NORMAL CAR BC IT STALLS TOO, I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK OFF TO BE ABLE TO REVERSE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A SMALL RAMP ON IN A PARKING GARAGE, THE CAR STALL AGAIN. NO ONE IS ABLE TO HELP ME AND VOLKSAGEN KEEPS TELLING ME MY ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND I KEEP TELLING THEM IT COMES ON WHEN MY CAR STALLS! I FEEL LIKE IM IN A DEATH CAR, I RATHER WALK INSTEAD OF DRIVE MY VOLKSWAGEN AND VERY FRUSTRATING THAT I HAVE TO PAY THIS LOAN WHEN THE CAR CONSTANTLY STALLS ON ME. HARD FOR ME TO TRADE IN AS WELL BC I OWE ABOUT 6K AND IM IN MEDICAL SCHOOL. CAN SOMEONE ANYONE PLEASE GIVE ME TIPS ON HOW TO HANDLE THIS SITUATION.
AFTER BEING PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT THE CAR WOULD NOT START. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED A SLIPPED TIMING CHAIN. AN INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED THIS TO BE A COMMON FAILURE WITH THIS ENGINE DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN OF THE BELT TENSIONER.
I WAS IN MOTION LEAVING WORK AND CAR STALLED..COULD NOT GET IT STARTED.TOOK TO THE SHOP AND DIAGNOSED WITH TIMING BELT FAILURE RESULTING IN CATASTROPHIC DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE
BROKEN TIMING CHAIN/BELT. WE WERE LEAVING A RESTAURANT, WHILE IN THE PARKING MOVING FORWARD THE CAR HESITATED....AND THEN STALLED. I RE-STARTED IT AND IT WAS MAKING FUNNY SOUND. I TURNED IT OFF AND ASK FOR HELP PUSHING IT BACK INTO A PARKING SPOT. WE HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL IMPORT REPAIR SHOP FOR DIAGNOSES, WE WERE REFERRED TO A VW DEALER AND TOLD TO RESEARCH CLASS ACTION LAW SUITE REGARDING TIMING CHAIN/BELT FAILURE.
WHEN TURNING CORNERS, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD FLASH ON AND ENGINE WOULD SOMETIMES MISFIRE. I TOOK IT IN TO THE VW DEALERSHIP TO LOOK AT IT FOR THE SECOND TIME. THEY PERFORMED DIAGNOSTICS AND THEN WENT TO PULL THE VEHICLE OUT OF SHOP AND IT WOULD NOT START. THEY DETERMINED THE TIMING CHAIN SLIPPED. THANKFUL THAT THIS DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING AS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS. THE DEALERSHIP MUST DISMANTLE THE ENGINE TO DETERMINE ROOT CAUSE AND PRICE FOR PROPER REPAIRS, WHICH THEY ARE ESTIMATING AS $2,000 TO $5,000 - WHICH IS MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH. WE TOOK GREAT CARE OF THIS CAR INCLUDING SERVICING AS RECOMMENDED. IT HAD 150K MILES, BUT WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE THIS CAR FOR MANY MORE MILES. VW SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A BULLETIN FOR SERVICING THIS KNOWN ISSUE AND WE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN FORCED TO BUY A NEW VEHICLE, MOREOVER, THEY SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A RECALL AS THIS COULD BE FATAL IF IT WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING.
TIMING CHAIN MALFUNCTION: I WAS COMING TO A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT IN DOWNTOWN COLUMBUS AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN STARTED FLASHING AND MY CAR STARTED TO MAKE A SOUND LIKE SOMETHING MISFIRED. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND THE ENGINE TURNED OFF. I TRIED RESTARTING MY ENGINE AND IT BARELY STARTED AND CONTINUED TO RATTLE AND SHAKE LIKE SOMETHING AGAIN WAS MISFIRING AND TURNED OFF AGAIN. I TRIED TO RESTART AGAIN AND IT BARELY RESTARTED AND I TRIED HITTING GAS A LITTLE HARDER TO GET OUT OF THE INTERSECTION AND WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO FINALLY MAKE MY TURN AND PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. LUCKILY, THERE WAS A VOLKSWAGEN/AUDI SHOP CALLED "MOTORKARS" LESS THAN A MILE AWAY SO I DORVE MY CAR THERE WHILE THE ENGINE STALLED 2 MORE TIMES. IN HINDSIGHT, I SHOULD HAVE CALLED A TOW AFTER THE INITIAL ENGINE MISHAP BUT SINCE I WAS SO CLOSE I FIGURED IT WOULD BE SAFE ENOUGH TO GET TO THE SHOP. ONCE I GOT THERE, THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY TIMING BELT HAD BROKEN AND DUE TO THIS, THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE TO THE CYLINDERS. THEY ARE DOING TEST AS WE SPEAK AND HAVE SAID THEY HAVE SEEN A TON OF THESE ISSUES LATELY WITH CARS WITH THE SAME ENGINE (2.0L GAS TSI ENGINE.) THE SHOP TOLD ME THEY HAVE CAME OUT WITH BETTER PARTS AS THE STANDARD ISSUED PARTS WERE NOT UP TO PAR AND THE TIMING BELT SHOULD USUALLY LAST THE ENTIRE LIFE OF THE CAR, YET THEY SEE THEM MALFUNCTIONING RIGHT AROUND 60K-100K MILES. THE ORIGINAL TIMING BELT VW HAS IN THESE ENGINES ARE INEFFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AS IT IS DANGEROUS TO HAVE ON THE ROAD IN ANY CAR.
MY TIMING BELT TENSIONER BROKE CAUSING MY TIMING BELT TO BREAK WHICH IN TURN CAUSED MY ENGINE TO STALL AND DIE AS I WAS TURNING IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. I LOST ALL COMPRESSION IN CYLINDERS 2,3, AND 4. I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANINC I WOULD NEED TO HAVE THE ENTIRE ENGINE REPLACED AND WAS QUOTED $8000.00 TO GET IT FIXED. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 2 YEARS AND IT HAS LESS THAN 100,000 MILES ON IT AND I STILL OWE CLOSE TO 12,000 GRAND ON THE CAR. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THAT VOLKSWAGEN HASN'T PLACED ANY RECALL OR UPDATED THE PART. I AM JUST THANKFUL THAT I WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY OR ON A BUSY STREET BECAUSE IT COULD HAVE PUT MY LIFE AND THE LIFE OF OTHERS AT RISK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN CC. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (RICK CASE VOLKSWAGEN, 3920 WESTON RD, WESTON, FL), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
AFTER GETTING TO THE 100,000 MILE MARKER. MY CAR BEGIN TO HAVE A ROUGH IDLE FROM THE ENGINE BAY THAT COULD ALSO BE FELT FROM WITHIN THE CAR. I THEN TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP IN WHICH THEY SAID IT WAS MISFIRING AND NEEDED NEW SPARK PLUGS AND COILS. AFTER PAYING FOR THAT I PICK MY CAR UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP ONLY TO FIND OUT THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON ONCE GETTING HOME. A COUPLE WEEKS AFTER THAT MY ENGINE STARTED MISFIRING YET AGAIN WE'RE EVEN A WORSE ENGINE ROCK. FINALLY GOT IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT'S A BAD TENSIONER CHAIN AND ALSO THAT MY ENGINE HAS BEEN AFFECTED BY THAT. I WOULD THINK THEY WOULD HAVE KNOWN THE ISSUE WAS THAT INSTEAD OF THE SPARK PLUGS AND COIL PACKS. NOW MY ENGINE IS A GONER AND I'M LEFT WITH A CAR PAYMENT WITH NO VEHICLE DUE TO THE FAULTY CHAIN TENSIONER. I BELIEVE THAT IF THEY WOULD HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM WHEN I TOOK IT IN THEN THEY COULD HAVE SEEN MY ENGINE FROM BLOWING. ALL THEY DID WAS DID A PATCH UP WITH SPARK PLUGS AND COILS
OUT OF NO WHERE MY VEHICLE BUCKED AND LOST POWER. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND THE ENGINE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MY LOCAL VW DEALERSHIP AND DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER. THE REPAIR WOULD COST ABOUT $6500. UPON MY RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A PRETTY COMMON ISSUE AMONG THE 2008-2013 TSI 2.0T ENGINES. OVER THE YEARS, DEALERSHIPS HAD BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE THROUGH TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS. VW HAD FAILED TO LET THE CUSTOMER KNOW ABOUT IT OR ISSUE A RECALL AND NOW I AM STUCK WITH A VEHICLE THAT DOESN'T RUN AND CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY THE OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT TO GET IT FIXED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CLAY COOLEY VOLKSWAGEN RICHARDSON (300 N CENTRAL EXPY, RICHARDSON, TX 75080, (469) 998-4700) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TENSIONER CHAIN FRACTURED AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED BECAUSE THE TENSIONER CHAIN FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THE TIMING BELT TENSIONER FAILED WHILE DRIVING. LOST POWER AND REQUIRED A TOW. DAMAGED VALVES, WARPED HEAD AND PISTONS WAS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. THIS APPEARS TO BE PROBLEM FOR THE 2.0 ENGINE AS I'VE READ THAT HAS OCCURRED WITH MANY OTHER OWNER'S. VOLKSWAGEN SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THESE REPAIRS.
MY VOLKSWAGEN CC IS A 2010 WITH UNDER 65,000 MILES ON IT AND THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER FAILED. IT BROKE OFF AND ACTUALLY CRACKED THE HEAD SO THAT I NEED TO PUT IN A NEW ENGINE TO HAVE A WORKING VEHICLE AGAIN. THIS IS GOING TO COST ME $4500 FOR A CAR THAT IS NOT EVEN 5000 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY PERIOD. I BOUGHT THIS CAR 3 YEARS AGO AND HAVE ONLY PUT 30,000 MILES ON IT. ALL OF THE MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP AT A COSTLY RATE TOO. IT DOES NOT SEEM LIKE AN ENGINE SHOULD CATASTROPHICALLY FAIL WITH THIS FEW MILES.

HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO ASE CERTIFIED VOLKSWAGEN MECHANIC AND THEY RAN ALL TESTS TO FIND THAT MY TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $7400. I STILL OWE $7K ON THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME. I DON'T HAVE THE FUNDS TO PAY FOR THIS. THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR THE PAST 3MTHS. I AM PREGNANT AND AM SO GLAD THAT IT DIDN'T STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY ON ME!
MY CAR HAD TROUBLE STARTING THAT MORNING. IT TOOK ABOUT 3 SECONDS FOR IT TO TURN ON AFTER I INSERTED THE KEY. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST BECAUSE IT WAS GETTING A COLD START NOW THAT WE'RE IN SEPTEMBER. AS I WAS DRIVING A FEW MINUTES AFTER, THE CAR IMMEDIATELY DECELERATED WHILE ON THE ROAD. THAT COULD'VE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SHORTLY AFTER AND THE CAR WOULD SHAKE A LOT, ESPECIALLY AT A STOP. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND TALKED TO MY MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME IT WAS A TIMING BELT ISSUE. ESTIMATING $1600-$5000 FOR REPAIR. JUST 2 MONTHS AGO I HAD THE CEL THAT COSTED ME $700 AND A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THAT $500. I INVESTIGATED THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR THIS PROBLEM. MY CAR HAS ONLY 54000 MILES

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN VOLKSWAGEN DEALER IN MACON, GA WAS CONTACTED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING DUE TO THE COST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TENSIONER FAILED. MAINTENANCE MANUAL SAYS THE PART DOES NOT NEED SERVICE BEFORE 120,000 MILES, BUT TENSIONER FAILED AT 105. MANY LAWSUITS AROUND THE COUNTRY. THE INTAKE BLEW WHEN STARTING AFTER SITTING OUTSIDE ON A HOT DAY. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AND PARKED IN MY WORK PARKING LOT. VW AMERICA CUSTOMER SERVICE WOULD NOT HONOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTEE EVEN THOUGH I WAS ONLY 3K PAST THE EXTENDED WARRANTEE MILEAGE AMOUNT.
I HAVE A 2010 VW CC WITH 63,000 MILES. THE ENGINE COILS KEEPS GOING OUT AND I COULD HAVE DIED ON THE FREEWAY, WHEN THE CAR LOSES CONTROL. I HAVE OWNED MANY OTHER BRANDS AND NEVER HAD THIS MANY REPAIRS ON A CAR. THERE IS A QUALITY CONTROL ISSUE AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO. IN A MATTER OF 5 MONTHS, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE AN ENGINE COIL. BOTH TIMES, I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. THIS IS AN UNSAFE, POORLY MADE CAR.
