Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2009-2014 Volkswagen CC, 2010-2014 Golf, 2010-2014 Eos, 2007-2010 Passat Sedan and Wagon, and 2012-2014 Passat vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to explode.
Remedy Status
Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag inflator with an alternative inflator, free of charge. The recall began March 16, 2018. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 69Q9. Note: This recall partially supersedes recall 16V-078.
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Golf, 2007-2010 Passat sedans and wagon, 2012-2014 Passat sedan and Eos, 2009-2014 CC, 2009-2012 Audi Q5, 2010-2012 S5 Cabriolet and 2010-2012 Audi A5 Cabriolet vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.
Remedy Status
Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag inflators, free of charge. Volkswagen issued an interim notification to owners on April 12, 2016, and will send a second notification when parts are available. Volkswagen will notify owners again once parts are available. Volkswagen owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Audi owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834.
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Volkswagen CC, and Passat, 2010-2013 Eos, 2011-2014 Golf, GTI, Jetta, and Tiguan, and 2012-2014 Jetta Sportwagen vehicles. In the affected vehicles, debris may contaminate the air bag clock spring, a spiral wound, flat cable that keeps the air bag powered while the steering wheel is being turned. This contamination may tear the cable and result in a loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag.
Remedy Status
Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will install a protective cover over the steering wheel clock spring if the air bag light is off. If the airbag light is on and the steering wheel clock spring requires replacement, dealers will install a new steering wheel clock spring. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2016. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-822-8987.
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2009-2016 Volkswagen CC, 2006-2010 Passat and Passat Wagon vehicles. Interruption of electrical power to the fuel pump control module may cause the fuel pump to fail.
Remedy Status
Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump control module, free of charge. The recall began June 26, 2018. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 20AE.
The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen CC. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the air bag warning light illuminated, and all the buttons on the steering wheel became inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 151,000.

I WAS DRIVING MY CAR HEADED OUT OF TOWN AND NOTICED WHILE DRIVING MY CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATING ON ITS ON ALMOST CAUSING ME TO ALMOST LOSE CONTROL AND HIT THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME PUTTING ME AND MY FAMILY LIFE IN DANGER. WE ENDED UP TURNING AROUND TO HEAD BACK HOME AND ON THE WAY HOME WE STARTED SMELLING A STRONG GAS THE SMELL WAS SO LOUD WE ENDED UP PULLING OVER AND CALLING FOR A RIDE ALSO WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN TO LONG I NOTICED THE VEHICLE WOULD JUMP OUT OF DRIVING AND SWITCH INTO A DIFFERENT GEAR ON IT'S OWN CASING ME TO HAVE TO PUT MY EMERGENCY SIGNAL LIGHTS ON AND RESTART THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO GET IT BACK INTO DRIVING EVERYTIME THAT HAPPENED I WOULD NOTICE THAT THE D ON THE DASHBOARD WOULD BE GONE I ENDED UP TAKING MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP VW IN BRADENTON FL SO IT COULD BE LOOKED AT IT HAD RECALLS IT THEY ALSO LISTED A FEW OTHER THINGS THEY NEEDED TO DO SO AFTER THEM SO CALLED FIXING IT THE COST I HAD TO PAY WAS $1,555.88 SO AS I LEFT I NOTICED THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS BACK ON THE CAR WAS STILL DOING THE SAME THING LIKE IT NEVER WAS FIXED I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK NEXT FRIDAY I ENDED UP STOPPING TO TO CHECK MY OLI LEVEL AND NOTICED THAT VW DEALER MECHANIC FORGOT TO PUT MY OIL BACK IN MY CAR AFTER FIXING A SMALL DRIP THAT THEY SAID WASNT THAT ARGENT TO FIX AND IN I DECIDED TO GO AHEAD AND LET THEM DO ANYWAYS BEFORE I DROPPED MY CAR OFF TO VW I HAD JUST GOT A OIL CHANGE 2 DAYS BEFORE AT THIS POINT I'M SO HURT I'M A PATIENT OF 1 WITHOUT A CAR NOW ALL BECAUSE THE VW FORGOT TO PUT MY OIL BACK INTO MY CAR WHEN THEY GOT DONE MY CAR IS DESTROYED MY $1,555.88 >IS GONE MY MOTOR HAD NO OIL IN AND ALL I GOT WAS A SORRY EVERYTHING I WORKED WORKED HARD FROM WAS TAKEN AWAY FROM ME ALL IN A BLINK OF A EYE😢
THE DEALERSHIP SAID PCV VALVE WENT OUT AND CAUSED REAR MAIN SEAL TO BREAK, WHICH IS THE REASON MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR IS NOW LEAKING OIL. THE PCV VALVE APPEARS TO BE FINE, NOTHING IS STUCK, NOTHING CRACKED, THE GASKET IS NOT DAMAGED EITHER. THE CAR NOW HAS 80K MILES ON IT AND IM STUCK WITH $1800 REPAIR BILL FOR THE REAR MAIN SEAL.
STARTED THE CAR IT TURN OVER AND AUTOMATICALLY SHUTOFF FUEL INJECTION IT WAS ON A CITY STREET AND STOPPED SMACK IN THE MIDDLE CAUSING CARS TO GO AROUND ME
TAKATA RECALL. VW WILL NOT REPLACE THE RECALLED AIRBAG. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR. I CALLED MANY TIMES AND GET MANY NOTICES IN THE MAIL TO GET IT REPLACE. UPON CALLING THEY (VW OF ONTARIO, SAN BERNARDINO AND MORENO VALLEY INCLUDING THE CORPORATE LINE. THAT THERE ARE NO AIRBAGS AND THE MANUFACTURE WENT OUT OF BUSINESS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN CC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM FAILED AND CODE NUMBER: P2293 WAS LOCATED. THE DEALER ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT OF TWO OPEN RECALLS: NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 17V509000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) AND 18V148000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT NOTIFY HIM ABOUT THE RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND PROMISED TO CALL THE CONTACT BACK. THE CONTACT WAS NOT CALLED BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.
TAKATA RECALL. I TOOK MY CC FOR RECALL ON THE AIRBAG IN VW DEALER IN COUNTRYSIDE, IL.THE REPLACE THE AIRBAG AND GIVE ME THE CAR BACK WITH AIRBAG ERROR ON THE DASHBOARD.AFTER THAT THEY SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT I NEED TO CALL FOR APPOINTMENT COME BACK WHEN IS AVAILABLE, PAY THEM $140 FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND THEN THEY CAN TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY AIRBAG.THEY WANT ME TO DRIVE MY CAR WITH OUT AIRBAG.
I AM A U.S SERVICE MEMBER STATIONED OVERSEAS. I WILL BE SERVING OVERSEAS UNTIL NOVEMBER 2021. WHILE DRIVING ON THE AUTOBAHN WITH MY FAMILY, I GOT ON THE LEFT LANE TO PASS A VEHICLE NEXT TO ME. WHEN I HIT ON THE ACCELERATOR, OUT OF THE BLUE, MY VEHICLE SEEMS TO LOSE POWER AND THE EPC CODE ON MY DASHBOARD STARTED FLASHING. THE VEHICLE STARTED CHOKING AND SLOWED DOWN INSTEAD. IN CONFUSION AND THE LOUD HONKING FROM THE VEHICLES BEHIND AND NEXT TO ME, I TURNED MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND SWITCHED TO THE FAR RIGHT LANE. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE LOCAL VW DEALERSHIP IN GERMANY AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE FOR THE FUEL PUMP MODULE AND TAKATA AIRBAG BUT IT COULD ONLY BE DONE IN THE STATES. I CONTACTED OMSC AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND I WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT VW AMERICA. WHEN I CONTACTED VW AMERICA AND TOLD THEM ABOUT MY SITUATION, I WAS INFORMED I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL 2021 WHEN I RETURN TO THE U.S. I AM WORRIED FOR MY SAFETY AND THAT OF MY FAMILY DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
ENGINE KEEPS STALLING, HAD FUEL PUMP REPLACE PER 4TH RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE CAR STILL STALLS, EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I HAVE TWO KIDS IN THE CAR. THE CAR WONT GO IN REVERSE LIKE A NORMAL CAR BC IT STALLS TOO, I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK OFF TO BE ABLE TO REVERSE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A SMALL RAMP ON IN A PARKING GARAGE, THE CAR STALL AGAIN. NO ONE IS ABLE TO HELP ME AND VOLKSAGEN KEEPS TELLING ME MY ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND I KEEP TELLING THEM IT COMES ON WHEN MY CAR STALLS! I FEEL LIKE IM IN A DEATH CAR, I RATHER WALK INSTEAD OF DRIVE MY VOLKSWAGEN AND VERY FRUSTRATING THAT I HAVE TO PAY THIS LOAN WHEN THE CAR CONSTANTLY STALLS ON ME. HARD FOR ME TO TRADE IN AS WELL BC I OWE ABOUT 6K AND IM IN MEDICAL SCHOOL. CAN SOMEONE ANYONE PLEASE GIVE ME TIPS ON HOW TO HANDLE THIS SITUATION.
AFTER A RECALL ON AIRBAG WAS DONE, TWO WEEKS LATER I TOOK THE CAR IN BECAUSE A AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. WAS TOLD ITS CONTROL MODULE FOR PODS ALL, WHICH COSTS $2,357.68. THIS MODULE CONTROLS THE AIRBAGS WHETHER OR NOT THEY GO OFF IN AN ACCIDENT. WELL MINE WENT OUT WITHOUT EVER BEING IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR ONLY HAS 76K MILES AND VW TOLD ME IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OTHER AIRBAG RECALL AND THAT PART IS ONLY COVERED UNTIL 36K MILES. THIS SUPER EXPENSIVE SAFETY ISSUE SHOULD BE LOOKED AT NOT BE PUT UPON A CUSTOMER.
VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT 180K BY VW DEALERSHIP; A PREMIUM SERVICE WAS SELECTED; ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS TAKING IT IN; THE VEHICLE PREVIOUSLY DID TURN OFF WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY ON ITS OWN WHICH THEN NEEDED TO BE RESTARTED. THE CAR JERKED AS IF MY SPARK PLUGS WERE HAVING ISSUES. HAVE HAD TO CHANGE SPARK PLUGS FREQUENTLY COMPARED TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE AIR/CAM SENSOR (AS A RECOMMENDATION FROM THE DEALERSHIP) THE CAR HAD BEEN RUNNING SLUGGISH BUT NORMAL PRIOR TO IT GETTING SERVICED. THE CAR WAS READY FOR PICK UP AND ENGINE LIGHT WAS CLEARED. CAR WAS DRIVEN ABOUT 35MI FROM DEALERSHIP TO PLACE OF RESIDENCE. CAR PERFORMED NORMAL. NEXT DAY WENT TO TURN ON THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START. IT DID START LONG ENOUGH THAT I COULD USE MY OWN CODE READER THE VEHICLE HAD 15 ERRORS ACCORDING TO THE READER. I LET THE CAR SIT FOR A MONTH BEFORE I COULD TOW IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS SERVICED. VW IS NOW SAYING THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. CAMSHAFT IS WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING AT . ANOTHER POSSIBILITY VW EXPLAINS IS MASSIVE ENGINE FAILURE.
AROUND 8/8/18 I POPPED MY HOOD TO GIVE A GUY A JUMPSTART & SMELLED GAS. THOUGHT THAT WAS AS ODD SO WITH THE HOOD OPENED I STARTED THE CAR. WHEN I RETURNED TO LOOK UNDER THE HOOD I NOTICED A STREAM OF GASOLINE COMING OUT OF THE TOP OF THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP (BOSCH MFG: 06H127025N SKU: 3649). THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE RETAINING CLIP ON THESE FUEL PUMPS AT THE TOP OF THE CONNECTOR ARE KNOWN TO BE WEAK AND GIVE OUT CAUSING LARGE FUEL LEAKS. I'VE NOTICED WHILE RESEARCHING REPLACEMENT PARTS THAT SOME MANUFACTURERS USE BOLTS RATHER THAN A THIN RETAINER CLIP THAT GIVES OUT. AFTER FINDING THIS LEAK I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE GAS CONTINUES TO SPEW OUT EVEN AFTER THE CAR IS OFF, AND AT TIMES STOPS THEN STARTS AGAIN. WHICH COULD HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE RECALL FOR THE CONTROL MODULE THAT PLUGS INTO THIS PUMP & STATES IT COULD CONTINUOUSLY RUN, WHICH IS BAD ENOUGH BUT THEN ADD IN THAT THE PUMP THAT IS ALWAYS RUNNING IS KNOWN TO LEAK FUEL, VERY DANGEROUS.
MY CAR WAS ON A LARGE BLVD WITH OTHER CARS IN MOTION WHEN ALL OF A SUDEN WITH OUT NOTICE JUST COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED IT HAPPENED MANY TIMES BEFORE. I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND NO RESULTS I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I FEAR FOR MY LIFE I FEEL LIKE MY CAR IS A DEATH TRAP AND ONE DAY A BIG TRAGEDY CAN OCCUR DEW TO THE FACT THAT THE DEALERSHIP FAILS TO PROVIDE THE RIGHT SERVICE. IT'S AN ONGOING SITUATION FOR MANY YEARS WITH NO RESULTS. I RECEIVED A RECALL ON JUNE 2018 FOR A FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE, DEALERSHIP ASSURED ME THAT WAS THE REASON WHY THE VEHICLE WAS SHUTTING OFF IN MOTION THEY INSTALLED THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE ON JULY 2018 AND PROBLEM STILL OCCURRING.
FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE REPLACED AND RELOCATED ON JULY 18TH, 2018. HOWEVER, ON AUGUST 3RD, 2018, WHILE DRIVING ALONE IN THE #4 LANE OF THE FREEWAY, MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED. NO WARNING. NO CHUGGING. THE ENGINE JUST STOPPED. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS ENOUGH TRAFFIC FOR THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME TO SLOW DOWN TO AVOID ME. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON WHILE DESPERATELY TRYING TO GET THE CAR TO TURN BACK ON. THANKFULLY IT DID WITHIN A MINUTE OR TWO GIVING ME JUST ENOUGH TIME TO CUT ACROSS THE HIGHWAY TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO INFORM THEM OF WHAT HAPPENED AND THEY WERE PERPLEXED AND TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE NEAREST VW DEALERSHIP IF THE ENGINE LIGHT WASN'T FLASHING, WHICH AT THE TIME IT WASN'T. THAT DEALERSHIP TURNED ME AWAY AND TOLD ME I SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO MY REGULAR DEALERSHIP. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO DRIVE ABOUT 10 MORE MILES BEFORE MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT START. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO MY REGULAR DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY BELIEVE IT MAY BE THE FUEL PUMP. SINCE I HAD THE RECALL COMPLETED PRIOR, I AM VERY FEARFUL THAT I WON'T BE SO LUCKY NEXT TIME. HAD TRAFFIC BEEN GOING AT THE REGULAR SPEED, I BELIEVE I WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR DEAD. I NEED TO BE REASSURED THAT THESE RECALLS ARE DONE RIGHT AND TESTED TO ENSURE THERE AREN'T FAULTY PARTS AND THAT SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT.
DEALER HAS NOT COMPLETED RECALL IN TIMELY MANNER. KEEPS STATING THAT THEY CAN'T COMPLETE IT. NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 17V509 MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER 20AE SUMMARY ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, THERE COULD BE AN INTERRUPTION IN ELECTRICAL POWER FROM THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE. THIS COULD RESULT IN THE FUEL PUMP RUNNING CONTINUOUSLY, RESULTING IN A DRAINED BATTERY AND/OR A NO START CONDITION, OR CAUSE A LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, WHICH COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH CAUSING INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY. RECALL STATUS RECALL INCOMPLETE REMEDY REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE AND RELOCATE IT WITHIN THE VEHICLE. SAFETY RISK DESCRPITION A LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH CAUSING INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY.
MECHATRONIC UNIT VEHICLE IN MOTION ON CITY STREET DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH SEEMED AS THOUGH CAR DROPPED GEAR, AUTOMATICALLY DROPPED TO 10MPH, TRIED TO ACCELERATE, BUT ENGINE REVVED AND WOULDN'T INCREASE SPEED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED AND D (FOR DRIVE) BEGAN FLASHING ON SCREEN, PULLED OVER, SHUT CAR OFF AND WAITED. WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND DRIVE 2BLICKS TO DEALERSHIP WITH D LIGHT STILL FLASHING. DEALERSHIP RECREATED ISSUE AND DIAGNOSED THE MECHATRONIC UNIT WHICH HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN RECALLED ON OTHER DSG TRANSMISSIONS IN THE PAST. (2007-2009) WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED JUNE OF 2009, BUT THAT MODEL HADN'T BEEN RECALLED. THIS COULD HAVE KILLED ME IF I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE DRIVING FASTER. I AM CONCERNED FOR OTHERS SAFETY IF THE CAR CAN JUST STALL OUT WHILE IN MOTION. CAR HAS 112,000 MILES, BUT THE TRANSMISSION ONLY HAS 80K
AFTER BEING PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT THE CAR WOULD NOT START. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED A SLIPPED TIMING CHAIN. AN INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED THIS TO BE A COMMON FAILURE WITH THIS ENGINE DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN OF THE BELT TENSIONER.
