NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 17V509. MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER: 20AE. FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE. I HEARD ABOUT THE RECALL IN AUGUST OF 2017 AND A LETTER WAS MAILED TO ME OCTOBER 2017 ABOUT THE RECALL. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST FOUR MONTHS SINCE THE LETTER WAS RECEIVED AND THE PARTS STILL ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR VW TO CORRECT THIS. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN LOSING POWER WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION WHICH HAS ALMOST CAUSED VEHICLE ACCIDENTS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. IT IS A MAJOR HAZARD AND VERY DANGEROUS TO MYSELF AND OTHERS AROUND ME WHEN IT HAPPENS EACH TIME AND NEEDS TO GET CORRECTED ASAP. I'M FILING THIS BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER (VW) HAS FAILED TO REMEDY THIS SAFETY HAZARD IN A TIMELY MANNER AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE ME WITH A DATE THAT IT WILL BE RESOLVED. MEANWHILE, I DRIVE EVERY DAY AND THE RISKS OF AN ACCIDENT INCREASE EACH AND EVERY DAY DUE TO THIS PROBLEM.
VOLKSWAGEN IN MT PLEASANT SOUTH CAROLINA HAD ME BRING MY CAR IN TO GET A FUEL PUMP REPLACED. THIS WAS BACK IN OCTOBER OF 2017. VOLKSWAGEN PUT A FAULTY FUEL PUMP IN MY CAR AND THE CAR NO LONGER RUNS. I SPOKE WITH THE GENERAL MGR RECENTLY AND THE HEAD TECH - THEY SAID WE CANNOT DO ANYTHING FOR YOU. I ALSO CALLED VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID ITS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. THEY PUT A FAULTY FUEL PUMP IN MY CAR
I STARTED THE ENGINE AND SAT IN MY CAR A FEW MINUTES BEFORE TAKING OFF WHEN MY CAR DIED. I WAITED A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND I STARTED IT AGAIN, BUT AGAIN IT DIED. THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE FAILED. LUCKILY I WASN'T DRIVING THE CAR. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO MY HOUSE ON A SAT EVENING, THEN AGAIN TO THE DEALER ON MONDAY. APPARENTLY THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS. DEALER INSTALLED ANOTHER MODULE FROM THE OLD STOCK WHICH CAN FAIL AGAIN. VW SAID THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME BUT THEY ARE WAITING UNTIL THEY HAVE A SOLUTION. I DON'T KNOW WHY I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THEM TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGE. I INCURRED THE COST AND BY THE GRACE OF GOD I AM NOT DEAD. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN THE FUEL PUMP DOESN'T RECEIVE ELECTRICITY TO PUMP FUEL INTO THE SYSTEM

THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS IT DRIFTED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO ALEXANDRIA VOLKSWAGEN (107 W GLEBE RD, ALEXANDRIA, VA, 22305; 703-684-8888) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MAIN FUEL PUMP AND THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE/ISSUE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AT THE TIME. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

STILL WAITING FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS - NHTSA 17V509
MY CAR HAS LOST POWER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND HAVE HAD TO BUY SEVERAL NEW BATTERIES BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE COMPLAINT #11097626. VW CASE #180469589. LETTER TO VW HEADQUARTERS: GOOD MORNING SHAYNA S., YESTERDAY I VISITED THE VW DEALERSHIP AND HAD EXTENSIVE WORK DONE ON MY CAR. AT WHICH TIME I BROUGHT UP THE RECALL OF OCTOBER 2017. THEY EXPLAINED THE RECALL OF OCTOBER 2017 FOR FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE WILL NOT BE RESOLVED ANYTIME SOON. I EXPLAINED THE VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE TOLD ME THE CAR WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE IT COULD CAUSE A FIRE AND TO REQUEST A LOANER. THE MANAGER DENIED MY REQUEST FOR A LOANER. I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN AND AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS SITUATION. I WILL BE FORWARDING THIS LETTER TO THEM IN REGARD TO COMPLAINT NO. 11097629.
TIMING CHAIN ISSUE THAT VOLKSWAGEN WAS AWARE OF FOR 2012 CC. I'M NOW RESPONSIBLE OF PAYING FOR THE REPAIRS OF DAMAGE DONE TO MY VEHICLE.
I HAVE SPENT 1000 ON THE WATER PUMP REPAIR, PURCHASED 2 LIGHTS AT 110. AN THEWATER PUMP WENT OUR AGAIN FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 4 MONTHS.THE AIR BAG RECALL HAS BEEN RECALLED 3TIMES ALREADY I HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT IN. LIKE THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD TO MANY PROBLEMS ELECTRICAL . WHEN THE WATER PUMP OUT THE CAR WAS STATIONARY.
MY CAR SUDDENLY BEGAN HAVING TROUBLE STARTING. IT WOULD TAKE A FEW EXTRA SECONDS TO START AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THIS WAS AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 7 MILES AND BACKING INTO MY GARAGE. I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND DECIDED TO BACK IN A LITTLE FURTHER. THIS IS WHEN THE ABOVE ISSUES BEGAN. I DROVE THE CAR TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP THE FOLLOWING DAY AND THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS PARTICULAR SHOP DID NOT OFFER THIS SERVICE SO I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOP WHICH CONFIRMED THE DIAGNOSIS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 VOLKSWAGEN CC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (ANDY MOORE VOLKSWAGEN OF AVON, INDIANA), BUT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR ON A DAILY BASIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
AFTER WAITING 7 MONTHS FOR A FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE FOR MY 2012 VW VV, IT IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE. THE FIRST RECALL NOTICE THAT I CHECKED WAS 8/16/17. THEREFORE THE WORK FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL HAS NOT BEEN DONE. CUTRUBUS MOTORS IN LAYTON, UT TOLD ME TODAY THE REPLACEMENT PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. AFTER NEARLY 7 MONTHS VW HAS NOT REPAIRED THIS SAFETY RECALL IN A TIMELY MANNER. FRUSTRATING. I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM INVOLVING AN TAKATA AIRBAG REPLACEMENT. WHEN I FINALLY DID HAVE AN APPOINT THEY SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE THIS AIRBAG REPLACEMENT IN STOCK. I HAD TO COME IN A SECOND TIME TO GET THE AIRBAG REPLACED.

TAKATA RECALL: VOLKSWAGEN CLAIMS TO HAVE FIXED THE CLOCK SPRING AND AIR BAG IN CAR HOWEVER THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON AND THE CLOCK SPRING IS BROKEN. I CANNOT USE THE HORN OR ANY BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY WITHOUT THE CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL.
THE TIMING CHAIN ON MY 2012 VOLKSWAGEN CC FAILED UNDER NO FAULT OF MY OWN. THE VEHICLE HAS 65K MILES ON IT AND THE REPAIR SHOP IS CITING THAT AN ENTIRE ENGINE IS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WITH A COST OF $7,000. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA AS WELL AS THE DEALERSHIP, I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM, NEITHER HAVE OFFERED ANY RELIEF. THIS HAS POSED A TREMENDOUS IMPEDIMENT ON MY LIFE AND THREATENS TO RUIN MY CREDIT AS I AM STUCK PAYING FOR A VEHICLE THAT I CANNOT DRIVE.

THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO A SERVICE STATION AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC (JOSHO AUTO, 10945 RANDOLPH, COSTA MESA, CA 92626, 714-557-2601) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS KEPT FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. ALSO, APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AGO, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS CRASHED INTO BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP (PACIFIC ELITE AUTO BODY SHOP IN COSTA MESA CA) AND REPAIRED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT RECENTLY SEARCHED THE VIN AND FOUND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V078000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 62,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TAKATA RECALL. ON A DAILY BASIS MY CAR LOSES ALL ELECTRICAL POWER AND SHUTS COMPLETELY OFF WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, HIGHWAY AND HAS EVEN HAPPENED WHILE TURNING. IT'S A TREMENDOUS SAFETY CONCERN, AS I HAVE TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TRY RESTARTING. THIS HAS CAUSED SEVERAL CAR PILE UPS BEHIND ME. VW STATED THEY ARE UNABLE TO PAY TO HAVE THIS RECALL FIXED AND STATED THAT I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL MODULE. I AM NOT ABLE TO COVER THESE EXPENSES. THIS SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF VW CORPORATE TO COVER AND FIX THIS RECALL.

IT WAS UNKNOWN IF THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE SAFELY DRIVEN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BEMER MOTOR CARS (9201 RICHMOND AVE, HOUSTON, TX 77063, PHONE: (713) 900-2443), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO ARCHER VOLKSWAGEN (10400 SW FWAY, HOUSTON, TX 77074, PHONE: (713) 272-1775) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR MODULE, THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR, RADIATOR CORE SUPPORT, FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM, BUSHINGS ALIGNMENT, REAR BRACKET ROTORS, AND BRAKE FLUID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ONLY MADE SOME OF THE REPAIRS DUE TO THE REPAIR COST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE MODULE ON THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE FUNCTIONED PROPERLY; HOWEVER, SHORTLY AFTER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC AT PEPBOYS WHO TIGHTENED THE MODULE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND STALLED. THE CONTACT HAD TO PUSH THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER OBSERVING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT REALIZED THAT THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED. THE CONTACT COOLED THE VEHICLE WITH COKE BEFORE BEING ABLE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE REPAIR PARTS WOULD BEGIN TO BE ISSUED IN OCTOBER OF 2017. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 VOLKSWAGEN CC. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING BELT FAILED AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED ENGINE FAILURE WHEN THE DEALER REPLACED THE COILS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
TAKATA RECALL. GOT A LETTER IN APRIL 2016. AIRBAGS NOT AVAILABLE. IT HAS BEEN ONE YEAR AND I HAVE CALLED SEVERAL TIMES AND STILL GET THE SAME ANSWER. NOT AVAILABLE. THIS IS A SAFETY RECALL AND THE COMPANY HAS HAD SUFFICIENT TIME TO REMEDY. THEY ARE MORE INTERESTED IN MONEY THAN SAVING LIVES/INJURIES. IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO? I AM CURRENTLY ON A VERY LONG HOLD TIME AGAIN AND AM VERY FRUSTRATED WITH THE LACK OF ACTION ON VOLKSWAGON.
THE CAR STARTED ACTING UP AROUND 50,000 MILES. THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT WHEN ON. THE CAR STARTED RUNNING ROUGH. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS THE COILS. THEY WERE CHANGE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY COULD NOT SAY WHAT WAS WRONG. I WHEN SEVERAL TIMES THE LAST TIME I WHEN THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TIMING BELT IS SKIPPING AND THERE IS DAMAGE ON THE ENGINE. THE INCIDENT HAPPEN WHILE I WAS GETTING INTO THE FREEWAY THE CAR COULD NOT ACCELERATE MORE THEN 30MPH. IT MADE IT VERY DANGEROUS FOR ME TO STAY ON THE FREEWAY SO I EXIT AS SOON AS I COULD. AT THE DEALER THEY TOLD ME THIS TYPE OF CAR ALWAYS HAS ENGINE TROUBLE TYPICALLY WHEN THE WARRANTY EXPIRES.

TWO DAYS AFTER RETURNING FROM A TRIP WITH NO ISSUES. I WENT TO START MY CAR AND IT WOULD CRANK BUT NOT FIRE. I HAD IT TOWED TO A VW DEALER WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO DO A MULTIPOINT DIAGNOSTIC. I WAS CALLED AND TOLD THE ENGINE LOST COMPRESSION AND THE TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE CYLINDER HEAD. THE ESTIMATE WAS OVER $7000. I CALLED AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS SURPRISED TO HEAR OF THE TIMING CHAIN FAILURE WITH THAT LOW OF MILEAGE, 73,000. HE CALLED BACK A FEW MIN LATER AND TOLD ME OF A TSB ON THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER AND ALSO THAT THERE WERE LAWSUITS FOR THIS EXACT THING. UPON DOING RESEARCH I FOUND MULTIPLE LAWSUITS, A SETTLEMENT IN 2014 IN WHICH THEY PAID ALL REPAIR COSTS AND REIMBURSEMENTS. THE LAWSUIT INDICATED THAT VW HAS KNOWN ABOUT A DEFECTIVE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER FOR YEARS AND HAVE NOT PUT OUT A RECALL, NOR EVEN LET THEIR CUSTOMERS KNOW OF THIS POTENTIAL. THEY DO HAVE A REPLACEMENT TENSIONER AVAILABLE WHICH DOES INDICATE THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. I ASKED THE DEALER TECH HOW HE DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND SAID HE LISTENED WHEN HE WENT TO START AND PUT A SCOPE IN THE OIL DIP. WITH THAT SMALL AMOUNT OF TIME, HE CAME UP WITH A STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN AND DAMAGED HEAD CYLINDER, AND A MAJOR REPAIR COST. I SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AND ASKED ABOUT THE DEFECTIVE TENSIONER AND HE DENIED ANY KNOWLEDGE, WHICH I FIND HIGHLY UNLIKELY, DUE TO THE LENGTH OF TIME THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON. I HAVE A CALL INTO VW CUSTOMER CARE ASKING FOR THEM TO FIX IT AT NO COST DUE THE DEFECTIVE PART. THIS IS A VERY LARGE ISSUE THAT CAN RESULT IN NOT ONLY A HIGH COST, MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE, BUT COULD ALSO RESULT IN ENGINE POWER, STEERING AND BRAKE CAPACITY WHICH IS A CATASTROPHIC SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE COMMUNICATED, AND SHOULD BE FIXED BY VW PRIOR TO ANY RESULTING DAMAGE, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY ANY INJURY OR LOSS OF LIFE.

MY TIRE PRESSURE SCREEN NEVER READ THE SAME NUMBER SINCE PURCHASE, I HAD SPOKEN ABOUT THIS TOO BUT WAS ALWAYS TOLD THAT THE HEATING AND COOLING OFF OF THE TIRES WILL GIVE DIFFERENT READINGS. THE CAR HAS TO RETURNED LESS THAN A MONTH OF PURCHASE BECAUSE OF A CLUNKING SOUND. THEY CLAIMED THAT THEY DID THE INSPECTION THE QUALIFY THE CAR AS CERTIFICATED, I TRULY DO NOT BELIEVE IT.
