This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. To compare this model year with others, use the year navigation in the sidebar or return to the model overview page.

2015 Volkswagen cc I was told that the ABS module has gone bad. Some of theses vehicles are on recall, mine is not. I was also told by the dealer that there is a national backorder on this part. I’m not sure what I can do at this point.
The contact owns a 2015 Volkswagen CC. The contact stated while stopped at a traffic signal, the signal changed to green and the contact depressed the accelerator pedal; however, the vehicle stalled. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that numerous warning lights were illuminated on the instrument panel while attempting to start the vehicle. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the fuel pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The mechanic informed the contact of NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V509000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.
Started having problems with the fuel tank at around 65,000 I had an extended warranty on the vehicle and around 80,000 they replaced the entire fuel tank… recently, I started smelling gas very strongly inside my vehicle and took it to a honest mechanic who was able to find the fuel pump which is located behind the backseats he told me the pump is sweating and there’s a puddle of gas in it and that’s why I have the strong smear smell of gas in my vehicle. He says that it’s not even safe for me to drive the vehicle at this time and at this time, I’m trying to buy another car because I have to keep the windows down, so I don’t pass out from the smell of gas … I called Appleton Volkswagen of Sanford as they switched out the whole fuel tank at 80,000. The vehicle has about 190,000 now … there was just a recall put out for the fuel pump for certain Volkswagen year 2015 and above, but the CC is not on this.? I I feel like it should be in the recall because my car is very unsafe to drive and I’m scared that I’m gonna blow up a fire of flames right now just driving it to the repair they’re not because this is very unsafe ……
My Cruise Control unit will not engage. And I have (6) six warning lamps showing every time I operate the car. With these lamps showing on the info system screen, the cruise control Will not engage! I asked the dealership about it. And was told that the wheel bearing unit has moved away from where it is bolted on. And now it is touching the Air Bag control module. That's why I've got six lamps showing up on the center info screen, every time I operate the car. And on another incident. I was traveling on the interstate and their was some water that had collected in a dip between hills. And when I traveled through it, the force of the water flowing into the engine department, knocked the cruise control OFF. Disengaged it. I'm am available for inspection of said vehicle. Oh yes, this happened once before, but all of a sudden all the warnings lamps turned off. But I'm not so lucky now. It doesn't seem to affect the Air Bags any, But I could be Wrong! The dealer explained what has happened within the components of my problem. But, since I wasn't forth coming to pay them to check or repair it, nothing got done. And it has been going on for about 6 - 8 months.
Clock Spring Failure. Should have been included in recall (2015 CC), but told my specific vehicle isn't by VW. Caused airbags to not work and multiple other fault codes.
The clock spring on this vehicle is defective. Airbag light is on, all steering wheel buttons/controls no longer work and the horn no longer works. Online research shows this to be a known issue for this model year and beyond. Additionally, there was a recall for this exact problem for the previous model year. Further research found the following NHTSA document https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10149942-9999.pdf as a limited warranty extension that includes this model year. However, dealer service and Volkswagen customer service have no knowledge of this limited warranty update and or that this vehicle VIN is not included. This has now made this vehicle UNSAFE to drive without working air bags.
Interior head liner cloth fell down and separated from the roof causing visibility problems. first car I ever had that did this.
Rearview Video Systems does not work. More commonly known as backup cameras, this technology helps the driver see behind the vehicle to avoid backing over people when moving in reverse. from long running forums it seem to be a long running problem. Customer take there cars in only to find the dealers can't fix them.
The contact owns a 2015 Volkswagen CC. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the back over prevention camera failed to display an image. Additionally, the brake lights and turn signals failed to operate as needed, and the electronic trunk latch was inoperable. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the trunk wiring harness was damaged from wire fatigue, caused by the opening, and closing of the trunk lid. The contact replaced the wiring harness. The electronic trunk latch mechanism was not replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 60,000.
DEALER STATES FORWARD CLUTCH AND DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL NEEDS REPLACEMENT BASED ON DIAGNOSIS AND MECHANIC EXPERIENCE AS THEY CANNOT "CHECK" THESE PARTS. THEY ALSO STATE I NEED TO REPLACE INJECTORS AND HAVE A "MANUAL DECARBON" PROCEDURE DUE TO THE DIRECT INJECTION SYSTEM CREATING CARBON DEPOSITS. THESE ARE APPARENTLY WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS AND SIMILAR VW MODELS. THE CAR HAS <100,000 MILES AND IS 5 YEARS OLD. THESE ARE NOT MAINTENANCE ITEMS PER SE AND FALL UNDER THE CATEGORY OF DEFECTIVE COMPONENTS/SYSTEMS. VW HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THESE TRANSMISSIONS FOR PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS FOR MANY MODELS BUT NOT ON THIS ONE YET. INTERNET SEARCHES REVEAL MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEMS. THE COST FOR REPAIRS IS $5,600.
AS I WAS MAKING A U-TURN I COULD HEAR A NOICE FROM MY STEELING WHEEL AND IMMEDIATELY THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND READ "ERROR: AIRBAG". I COULDN'T HELP BUT PANIC THINKING OF ALL THE POSSIBILITIES THAT CAN HAPPEN. I NOTICED THE BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL WEREN'T WORKING AND LATER REALIZING MY HORN DIDNT WORK EITHER. I CALLED THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP AND THEY AUTOMATICALLY WANTED TO CHARGE ME FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THEY INSISTED THAT THEY HAD ALREADY WORKED ON AN AIRBAG RECALL (69Y5) MY CAR HAD AND THAT THE DIAGNOSIS FOUND "NUMEROUS CODES." ONE OF THEM WAS CODE VAG00588 -DRIVER AIRBAG IGNITER UPPER LIMIT EXCEEDED TELLING ME THEY NEED TO INSTALL A NEW STEELING WHEEL CLOCK SPRING. DEBRIS LIKE FIBERS AND HAIRS INTERFERED WITH THE WIRES CAUSING THE WIRES TO BREAK INTERNALLY AND RESULTING IN A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO THE DRIVERS FRONTAL AIRBAG. MEANING IT WILL PREVENT THE AIRBAG FROM DEPLOYING IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THEY QUOTED ME A PRICE OF $971.77 FOR REPAIRS PLUS THE $160.00 FOR THE DIAGNOSIS. I WAS FURIOUS AND REFUSED TO SPEND MORE MONEY ON REPAIRS. I HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN CARE OF EVERYTHING MY CAR NEEDS. I'VE SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON IT ALREADY. BUT THIS IS WHERE I DRAW THE LINE, I'M NOT SPENDING ANOTHER GRAND+ ON IT WHEN THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I AM A COMMUTER. I COMMUTE LONG DISTANCES TO AND FROM WORK EVERYDAY, SO HAVING A FAULTY AIRBAG, NON RESPONDING HORN OR STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS IS EXTREMELY SCARY. INTERESTINGLY, VW RECALLED CERTAIN 2010-2014 VEHICLES WITH EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUE. RECALL CODE:69L2 VOLKSWAGEN NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY, RECALL 2015 VW CC AND CORRECT THIS DEFECT FREE OF CHARGE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITHOUT DELAY. I RELY ON THIS CAR EVERYDAY SO THIS ISSUE GETS ME MORE AND MORE UPSET EACH AND EVERYDAY.
I STARTED TO HEAR A WEIRD NOISE WHEN TURNING. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE HORN AND BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL STOPPED WORKING. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITHOUT A HORN AND IT'S SCARY TO KNOW THAT YOUR AIRBAG WON'T DEPLOY IN A CRASH. THIS HAPPENED AT 50,000 MILES.
HELLO, JUST REPORTING THAT MY BACKUP CAMERA SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING YESTERDAY. IT SAYS, BACKUP CAMERA UNAVAILABLE RIGHT NOW. I REALLY DEPEND ON THAT THING WEN BACKING UP!
MY VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND TURNED OFF. I WENT TO GET IN THE CAR START IT AND LEAVE HOWEVER WHEN I TRIED TO START THE CAR IT IMMEDIATELY STARTED TO DING OVER AND OVER WITH THE A MESSAGE "ERROR: DRIVER AIRBAG". IT ALSO WOULD NOT LET THE CAR START. I HAD THE BATTERY TESTED ITS FINE AND THE STARTER ISN'T EVEN 6 MONTHS OLD NOR THE ALTERNATOR. ALL THE ELECTRONICS IN THE CAR TURN ON LIGHTS, RADIO, WINDOWS UP AND DOWN, ETC. IT SAYS TO START PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AS WELL WHICH I OBVIOUSLY DID AND IT STILL SAYS THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE. IT HAPPENED 2 TIMES 1ST ON 12/31/2019 BUT THEN STARTED OUT OF NOWHERE AND WORKED FINE FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN HAPPENED AGAIN 1/04/20, HOWEVER THIS TIME THE PROBLEM PERSISTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 VOLKSWAGEN CC. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR WAS FAULTY. THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FLOW VOLKSWAGEN (5601 ROANNE WAY, GREENSBORO, NC 21409) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FUSE WAS FAULTY. THE FUSE WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
THE CAR HAD AN AIR BAG RECALL FIXED AND A FEW WEEKS LATER THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE HORN WON'T WORK. NOW THE DEALERSHIP WANTS THE CUSTOMER TO PAY FOR REPAIRS STATING THAT IT IS THE CLOCK SPRING THAT IS BROKEN. THIS PROBLEM IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE AIR BAG REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 VOLKSWAGEN CC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GLASS PANEL BETWEEN THE WINDSCREEN AND THE SUN ROOF WAS CRACKED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. HUDSON VALLEY VOLKSWAGEN (1148 U.S. 9, WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY 12590, (845) 250-3875) STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL OR WARRANTY AND COULD NOT ASSIST; ALTHOUGH, THE VEHICLE WAS JUST PURCHASED FROM THEM A WEEK EARLIER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.

FAILED STATE SAFETY INSPECTION: 'FOG LIGHTS REMAIN ON ONCE HI-BEAM LIGHTS ARE ACTIVATED.' MY WIFE PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2015 VOLKSWAGEN CC FROM ATLANTA GEORGIA VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP. SHE MOVED FROM GA TO MD IN APRIL 2018. THEREFORE, SHE HAD TO HAVE THE CAR MD SAFETY INSPECTED. THE CAR FAILED BECAUSE THE FOG LIGHTS REMAINED ON ONCE THE HI-BEAM LIGHTS WERE ACTIVATED. MD STATE LAWS REQUIRES THE FOG LIGHTS TO AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF WHEN THE HI-BEAMS ARE ON. THIS CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN ACCIDENT NOR SERVICE BY ANYONE OTHER THAN VOLKSWAGEN. I TOOK THE CAR TO LOCAL VOLKSWAGEN (POHANKA) AND THEY RAN DIAGNOSTIC. UNFORTUNATELY, THE VOLKSWAGEN MECHANIC IDENTIFIED THE VEHICLE AS BEING CODED INCORRECTLY WITH (GERMAN SPECIFICATION) VERSES US SPECIFICATIONS. POHANKA SERVICE MANAGER CONTACTED VOLKSWAGEN DIRECTLY AND THEY CHARGED ME $125 TO FIX. I HAVE A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THIS PAYMENT BUT NEED TO PASS THE MD INSPECTION. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW FROM A 'ATLANTA, GEORGIA VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP IN THE UNITED STATES' AND BIG VOLKSWAGEN WOULD NOT HONOR FIXING THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THE CAR HAS $43K MILES AND WAS ORIGINALLY REGISTERED IN GA. VOLKSWAGEN MENTIONED THE CAR IS PASS ITS WARRANTY. I DON'T ARGUE THAT POINT BUT THEY SOLD A VEHICLE THAT DIDN'T NOT AND WOULD NOT HAVE PASSED ANY STATE SAFETY INSPECTION THAT REQUIRES FOG LIGHTS TO AUTOMATICALLY TURN OFF WHEN ACTIVITY THE HI-BEAMS. SO, SINCE THEY KNOW IT'S A PROBLEM AND ONLY. ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC AFTER TALKING WITH BIG VOLKSWAGEN, THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN BUT REFUSE TO ISSUE A RECALL BECAUSE ENOUGH PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING. I AM HIGHLY UPSET THAT I HAD TO SPEND $125 TO FIX A SAFETY ISSUE FOR A BRAND NEW CAR. IT'S NOT GOING TO BE AN ISSUE UNTIL SOMEONE IS INJURED. WHO ELSE DO I NEED ADDRESS MY ISSUES WITH ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE? PLEASE ADVISE.
THERE COULD BE AN INTERRUPTION IN ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE. THIS COULD RESULT IN THE FUEL PUMP RUNNING CONTINUOUSLY, RESULTING IN A DRAINED BATTERY AND/OR A NO START CONDITION, OR CAUSE A LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, WHICH COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH CAUSING INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY. IN ADDITION TO TAKATA RECALL
