DEAR SIR/MADAM, I HAD AN ACCIDENT A FEW DAYS AGO WHERE I CRASHED INTO A CAR INFRONT OF ME. I HAD MY MOTHER ON IN THE PASSENGERS SEAT , AND MY SISTER AND BROTHER IN THE REAR SEATS. MY AIR BAG DEPLOYED WHILE THE PASSENGERS AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY , NOTE THAT THE CRASH WAS MAINLY ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE. I RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES WHILE MY MOTHER WAS SEVERELY INJURED AND IS STILL IN HOSPITAL. *TR
I HAVE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE THAT ONLY ALLOWS ME TO GET A REPAIR AT AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP. I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA 4 HOURS FROM THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP. THEY WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO REPAIR IT LOCALLY AND GET RE-IMBURSED. IT IS 4 HOURS TO THIS DEALERSHIP MEANING AN OVERNIGHT STAY. THE TOTAL COST OF THE TRIP IS MORE THAN THE REPAIR. IS THERE ANY OPTION TO GET THIS REPAIRED LOCALLY? NO ACCIDENT..........YET. THE RECALL IS FOR A DEFECTIVE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW REPEATEDLY FALLS INTO DOOR DESPITE NUMEROUS REPAIRS. *TR
2001 VW JETTA VR6 FOR YEARS MY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS OCCASIONALLY SLIPPED WHILE SHIFTING BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEARS. ALSO, MY GEAR SELECTOR SLIPS BETWEEN "D" AND "3" WITHOUT AN RESISTANCE. A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO, WITH MY CAR BEING REGULARLY MAINTAINED, THIS PROBLEM BECAME PERSISTENT. NOW, EVERY TIME THE CAR SHIFTS FROM 2ND TO 3RD THE CAR SHIFTS/BUCKS VERY HARD. ALSO, THE GEAR SELECTOR EASILY MOVES FROM "D" TO "3" AND WHILE IN "3" THE DASH STILL SHOWS THE CAR TO BE IN "D". I'M AFRAID THIS IS GOING TO DROP MY TRANSMISSION WHILE DRIVING. I'VE ASKED TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS AND ONE SAID NOTHING CAN BE DONE, WHILE THE OTHER SAID THAT IS VERY COMMON WITH THIS CAR BECAUSE VW PUT POOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS IN THESE CARS. I ALSO HAVE THE CRAYON SMELL IN MY CAR THAT DOES MAKE ME AND MY PASSENGERS SOMEWHAT ILL FEELING. HOWEVER, I'M MORE CONCERNED WITH MY TRANSMISSION. *TR
ABS UNIT MALFUNCTION CAUSING A STOP BRAKE LIGHT. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT EXISTS IN ALL VW AND AUDIS FITTED WITH A BOSCH ABS MODULE. NOTHING ON MY PASSAT HAS WORKED RIGHT! I HAVE SPENT ABOUT 3000 USD TO FIX A CAR SO IT CAN FUNCTION LIKE ONE, NOT THE DEAL I WAS LOOKING FOR WHEN I WENT OUT TO BUY A CAR. NOW THIS UNIT NEEDS ABOUT 1400 USD BEFORE LABOR TO FIX? 5000 USD AND SOME ON A 2001 PASSAT? SHORT OF GETTING A HORSE AND CARRIAGE, COULD VW JUST ACCEPT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS UNIT AND RECALL IT ALREADY. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO BE ON FIRE, RUNNING DOWN THE FREE WAY AND GET ON LOCAL NEWS HOLDING A VW OR AUDI EMBLEM FOR SOMETHING TO BE DONE? ASKING MECHANICS AT DEALERSHIPS IF THIS IS A KNOWN COMMON OCCURRENCE ELICITS A CHUCKLE ONE WOULD ONLY GET IF THEY WERE DOING STAND UP. THEY KNOW IT, DEALERSHIPS KNOW IT BUT WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. EVERYONE IS LIVING OFF EVERYONE'S BACK POCKET...WE CALL IT CAPITALISM! SO CAN THIS TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMICS FOR ONCE GET TO THOSE WHO ARE IN NO POSITION TO SEE THE FUTURE AND REALIZE THE LEMON THEY ARE BUYING IS SUCH BEFORE THE FACT! TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE FAILED, WHICH PREVENTED A CRASH FROM OCCURRING. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 109,000. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING 10-15 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT ANY TYPE OF IMPACT BEING INVOLVED. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC, WHO THEN CALLED THE DEALER. WHILE THE MECHANIC WAS ON THE PHONE, ANOTHER SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AT THE TIME. ANOTHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED AT THE DEALER WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AGAIN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED UNTIL THEY NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER; HOWEVER, THEY AGREED TO REPLACE THE MOTHERBOARD. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 134,412 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,402.
I OWN A 2001 JETTA, I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. ON TUESDAY OCTOBER 14, 2008 I WAS DRIVING IN CALIFORNIA FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES WHEN MY AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED BLINKING ON AND OFF. ABOUT EVERY 10-15 SECONDS IT WOULD TURN ON, THEN 15 SECONDS LATER IT WOULD TURN OFF. ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER I WAS ON THE 91 FREEWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND GOING ABOUT 5-10 MPH IN THE SLOW LANE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A BIG EXPLOSION. IT SOUNDED LIKE SOMEONE THREW A LARGE CEMENT BLOCK AT MY WINDOW AND I FELT A SURGE UP PAIN RUSH UP MY LEFT SIDE OF MY BODY TOWARDS MY FINGERTIPS. I IMMEDIATELY STARTED CHOKING DUE TO THE POWDER THAT WAS COMING FROM MY CAR WHEN I REALIZED IT WAS MY AIRBAG. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND ASSESSED THE DAMAGE. THE SIDE AIRBAG CAME OUT FROM THE SEAT OF MY CAR AND THRUST ME TO THE RIGHT OF MY CAR. I COULD NOT HEAR IN MY LEFT EAR AND THE LEFT SIDE OF MY BODY (FROM MY SHOULDER DOWN TO MY HIP, DOWN TO MY FINGERS) WAS THROBBING. MY LEFT PINKY AND RING FINGER BECAME NUMB AND EVEN THOUGH I ROLLED THE WINDOW DOWN, I COULD BARELY BREATHE AND COULD NOT STOP COUGHING. AFTER SITTING FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES, I GOT BACK ON THE ROAD AND STAYED IN THE SLOW LANE NOT PROCEEDING 40 MPH. *TR
TODAY, MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING OUR 2001 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA GLS 1.8T DOWN THE ROAD. THE RIGHT SIDE WHEELS WENT A FEW INCHES OFF THE EDGE OF THE ROAD. SHE REMAINED STRAIGHT AND GUIDED THE CAR BACK ONTO THE ROAD. ONCE BACK ON THE ROAD FULLY, THE SIDE AIRBAG (DRIVER'S SIDE) DEPLOYED. SHE WAS ABLE TO GUIDE THE CAR OFF THE ROAD TO THE SHOULDER. THERE WAS NO IMPACT WITH ANYTHING. THERE IS NO DAMAGE. THE TIRES AREN'T EVEN DIRTY. SHE RECEIVED A WELT ON HER LEFT ARM, (PROBABLY SOON TO BE A BRUISE.) SHE HAS A RINGING IN HER LEFT EAR AND A REDUCTION IN HEARING (PROBABLY TEMPORARY.) A VERY SCARY SITUATION. IT JUST HAPPENED TODAY AND I'M NOT CERTAIN WHAT STEPS TO TAKE FROM HERE. I KNOW IT IS A VERY COSTLY REPAIR TO REPLACE AN AIRBAG AND I WILL BE VERY NERVOUS ABOUT MY DAUGHTER DRIVING THIS CAR ON THE HIGHWAY IF A MINOR BUMP IN THE ROAD MIGHT SET HER AIRBAG OFF AND CAUSE HER TO CRASH AT 65 MILES PER HOUR. *TR
FRONT SIDE WINDOW REGULATORS FAILED PREMATURELY LEAVING WINDOWS DOWN AND UNUSABLE. RIGHT SIDE FAILED 7-27-07 AT 44,896 MILES (REPAIR COST $350.73) AND LEFT SIDE 8-20-08 AT 49945 MILES (REPAIR COST $334.45). ON THE RIGHT SIDE THE GLASS SHATTERED SPRAYING OVER THE PASSENGER AND SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW ON 6-11-01 AND HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
I OWN A 2001 VW JETTA. I BOUGHT IT 3 YEARS AGO, USED FROM THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP. THE AUTOMOBILE WAS SOLD AS A "CERTIFIED" AUTO, WHICH I FOUND OUT LATER DOES NOT MEAN MUCH. MY TRUNK IS LOCKED SHUT AND DOES NOT OPEN MANUALLY OR WITH REMOTE, I'VE HAD TO REPLACE CV BOOTS, CATALYTIC CONVERTER, TRANSMISSION AND NUMEROUS HEADLIGHT, TAILLIGHT AND BLINKER BULBS. AND TODAY ONE OF MY HEADLIGHTS IS SO DIM, IT DOESN'T REALLY PROVIDE ANY LIGHT WHEN IT IS DARK. I HAVE REPLACED IT AND REPLACED IT. IT STAYS FINE FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS AND THEN JUST DIMS OUT AGAIN. I CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP TAKING IT TO VOLKSWAGEN. IT'S A RIP OFF AND THEY DON'T EVEN FIX ANYTHING RIGHT ANYWAY. MY ENGINE FAN WENT OUT ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE OTHER DAY, CAUSING THE CAR TO OVERHEAT. I HAD TO GET IT TOWED. THAT ISN'T THE FIRST TIME I HAVE HAD TO PAY TO HAVE IT TOWED. THE INTERIOR PLASTIC COATING ON ARMRESTS AND ALL PLASTIC INSIDE IS PEELING AND LOOKS TERRIBLE. WHEN I PUSH UNLOCK ALL DOORS, THE DRIVER'S SIDE BACK SEAT DOOR WILL NOT OPEN UNLESS I REACH INSIDE AND PULL THE LOCK OPEN MANUALLY. THERE IS SO MUCH MORE, BUT I DON'T WANT TO WASTE MY TIME. I KNOW NOTHING WILL HAPPEN, EVEN THOUGH IT IS SO OBVIOUS THAT THESE CARS ARE COMPLETE LEMONS, AND THEY NEED TO STOP SELLING THEM TO PEOPLE. *TR

2001 VW JETTA EPC LIGHT COMES ON ALOT. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED BY THE MANUFACTURER. CAR SLOWS DOWN TO 20 MPH OR LESS. HAVE SEEN COMPLAINTS THAT THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN. THIS IS UNSAFE OR MYSELF AND MY 2 SMALL CHILDREN. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2001 JETTA HOME AFTER DROPPING MY FRIEND OFF AT THE AIRPORT, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE DEER JUMPED OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY. MY TRUNK RELEASE WILL NOT WORK, WITH OR WITHOUT THE REMOTE KEY. I CONTACTED VW OF AMERICA AND THEY REFUSE TO INDICATE THIS IS A DEFECT, EVEN THOUGH MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ARE FOUND ONLINE BY OTHER VW OWNERS. *TR
2001 VW JETTA-- WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACEMENT. VW WILL ONLY REPLACE WINDOWS WITH PROVEN DEFECT(WINDOWS THAT HAVE ALREADY FALLEN DOWN). I LIVE IN MN AND I DON'T WANT TO CHANCE THAT MY WINDOE WILL FALL DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER. I ASKED VW TO REPLACE ALL WINDOW REGULATORS, AND THEY REFUSED. *TR

THEN IT WAS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER$1500(NON WARRANTY) WIRING SYSTEM$1000(OF COURSE NON WARRANTY) WINDOWS WONT ROLL UP WITHOUT ROLLING DOWN AGAIN AND SOMETIMES GET STUCK$700(NON WARRANTY) CRUISE CONTROL WENT OUT$845 (NON WARRANTY), WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR... STATIONED IN ALASKA AND COULDN'T GO WITHOUT THAT $750(NON WARRANTY) NOW MY SECONDARY AIR PUMP IS OUT AND I WAS QUOTED $1294 FROM PRIVATE MECHANIC AND $1400 FROM VW. ALSO THE CRUISE IS STILL OUT AND THE WINDOWS ARE DOING THE SAME AGAIN. I HAVE TALKED TO MANY PEOPLE IN THE SAME BOAT I HAVE BEEN IN WITH SO MANY REPAIRS. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO STOP VW FROM MAKING FAULTY PARTS AND CHARGING AN ARM AND A LEG? THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE VEHICLE TO DEPLOY THE AIRBAGS AT ALL CAUSING ABOUT $2,000.00-$3,000.00 IN DAMAGES TO THE VEHICLE FOR NO REASON. *TR

SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER VOLKSWAGEN DEALER AND THEY GAVE HER A LIST OF ALL THE FAILURES. THE LIST INCLUDED THE TRANSMISSION, RATTLING IN THE ENGINE, AND THE BRAKE SENSORS. THERE ARE FOUR DIFFERENT TIRES ON THE VEHICLE AND EACH ARE THE INCORRECT SIZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE DOES NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPAIR ALL THESE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 02V031000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK). HE WILL TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
WE HAVE A 2001 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TDI THAT WE BOUGHT IN DAYTONA BEACH, FL. THE CAR HAS 39,000 MILES ON IT. WE RECENTLY EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. WE WERE ON RT92 WHEN THE CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN AND WOULD NOT GO ANY FASTER; THIS IS IN A 50MPH SPEED ZONE. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AND AS SOON AS TRAFFIC WOULD LET HIM HE GOT OVER IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE AND ALL THE TIME THE CAR IS GOING SLOWER AND SLOWER. HE DECIDED TO CHECK THE BRAKES AND FOUND THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN, PUTTING HIS FOOT UNDER THE PEDAL HE GOT IT BACK UP AND THEN THE CAR STARTED MOVING FASTER. THIS CAR HAD APPLIED THE BRAKES ALL ON ITS OWN. THEN WE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THE BRAKES WOULD MAKE A NOISE SOUNDING LIKE AIR BRAKES. WE DROVE THE CAR HOME (20 MILES) THAT DAY AND PARKED IT IN THE GARAGE AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. *TR
I HAVE A 2001 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA WOLFSBURG EDITION, THE BBS WHEELS THAT COME WITH THE WOLFSBURG TRIM ARE DEFECTIVE. THE LIP AROUND THE WHEEL IS PITTING AND IS CORROSIVE. THERE IS NO APPROXIMATE INCIDENT DATE JUST OVER THE TIME OF PURCHASE THE WHEELS GET WORSE AND WORSE. *TR

THE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED LIT UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TEN TIMES AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE AIR FILTER SENSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000.

SMELL OF GASOLINE INSIDE VEHICLE FOR 2-3 DAYS. NOTICED GAS MILEAGE WAS EXTREMELY BAD - HAD TRAVELED 100 MILES AND USED 1/2 TANK OF GAS. TOOK VEHICLE IN TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC. DEALER STATED FUEL LINE WAS COMPLETELY CORRODED, FUEL PUMP TO SENDING UNIT - GAS LEAKED INTO CAR'S TRUNK & REAR SEAT CARPETS. MY CAR HAS HAD MODULATION PROBLEMS WHICH COME AS POWER SURGES WHILE DRIVING AND MORE RECENTLY WHILE IDLING AT RED LIGHTS, STOP SIGNS AND IN TRAFFIC. *TR
1). INCIDENT HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING. VEHICLE STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING, LEADING TO A LOSS OF POWER AND MANUEVERABLE. OWNER HAD TO DRIFT INTO RIGHT-HAND LANE TO FIND A PLACE TO PULL OVER. 2). NO DAMAGE OR INJURY WAS CAUSED BY THE INCIDENT, AS THERE WAS MINIMAL TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY AT THAT TIME OF DAY. HOWEVER, LOSING POWER SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING COULD BE DISASTROUS IN HEAVIER TRAFFIC SITUATIONS OR ADVERSE ROAD CONDITIONS. CONSEQUENCE WAS TO LIMP TO CAR DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE AND MAKE REPAIR TO VEHICLE AT OWNER'S OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSE. 3). CAR DEALERSHIPS DIAGNOSIS FOUND FAULTY ENGINE SPEED SENSOR (PART # 06A-906-433-C). SENSOR WAS REPLACED AT OWNER'S EXPENSE. *TR
HEATER KNOB STOPPED WORKING IN HOT POSITIION. MECHANIC FOUND A PLASTIC CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY WAS BROKEN UNDER DASH. VW SAID ONLY REMEDY WAS BUY A WHOLE HEATER ASSEMBLY AT COST OF $450 PLUS LABOR WHICH WAS APPROX 6 HOURS. SO ENTIRE JOB WOULD HAVE BEEN OVER $1000 TO FIX A PROBLEM CAUSED BY A SMALL REMOVABLE PLASTIC PIECE. AFTER DAYS OF SEARCHING IN JUNKYARDS IT WAS FOUND MANY OF THESE PART WERE BROKEN. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN 2001, IN AROUND 2005 I NOTICED SOME MARKS ON WHEELS, BUT DISREGARDED THEM AS JUST DEBRIS, BY 2008 MY WARRANT RAN OUT AND MY TIRES STARTED LOSING AIR DAILY, THINKING IT WAS THE TIRES I HAD THEM ALL REPLACED. BY THE SUMMER I HAD 4 BRAND NEW TIRES AND WHEELS THAT WOULD BE FILLED IN THE MORNING WITH AIR AND FLAT BY THE END OF THE DAY, THE MARKS I NOTICED BECAME GIANT FLAKES AS THE WHEELS CLEAR COAT WAS JUST COMING OFF. BY THE END OF 2008 ALL 4 OF MY TIRES WERE LOSING AIR ON A REGULAR BASIS. AS A RESULT I HAD A COMPANY FOR $700 REPAIR THE WHEELS (STRIPPED, NEW PAINT AND CLEAR COAT), THIS WAS SPLIT INTO FRONT TIRES ONE MONTH AND BACK TIRES IN EARLY 2009. HERE I AM NOW IN 2011 AND THE WHEELS ARE DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. AIR HAS NOT STARTED LEAKING YET BUT THE MARKS HAVE APPEARED. ANOTHER YEAR AND I WILL BE BACK IN REPAIR MODE FOR FACTORY WHEELS THAT HAVE A DEFECT BUT HAVE NOT BEEN RECALLED. LOST OF AIR CAN OCCUR INSTANTLY FOR THESE THINGS. *TR

THE FAILURE WAS THAT THE LOOSE SPARK PLUG WIDENED THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER AND THAT CAUSED THE LOUD VIBRATION IN THE ENGINE. IT ALSO AFFECTED THE FUNCTION OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM, TOO. SO, I WAS TOLD BY THE RIVERSIDE VW DEALERSHIP THAT THE WHOLE CHAMBER HAS TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $5,400. THE RIVERSIDE DEALERSHIP MADE A CONTACT WITH NEW CENTURY DEALERSHIP IN GLENDALE, CA AND THEY DID THE TUNE-UP ON APRIL 5, 2004. IT WAS CLEARLY THE MECHANIC WHO DID NOT SCREW THE SPARK PLUG TIGHTLY. IT WAS THE HUMAN ERROR ON THE PART OF THE DEALERSHIP. I COULD NOT USE THE CAR DUE TO THIS UNNECESSARY ERROR THAT COULD BE PREVENTABLE. I HAVE BEEN TAKING MY JETTA TO ALL THE VW DEALERSHIPS TO DO MAINTENANCE SERVICES AND REPAIRS, AS WELL. MY FEELING IS THAT THEY SHOULD REPLACE THE PART WHERE THE SPARK PLUGS ARE AT NO COST DUE TO CARELESS ERROR. *TR

DURING THE PAST MONTH I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN 2 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, WITH ENGINE SPUTTERING AND STALLING PERIODICALLY. THE FIRST TIME THE COILS AND SPARK PLUGS WERE REPLACED (DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THEY WERE LOSE AND BLACK), SECOND TIME THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY, WHICH WAS DUE TO BE REPLACED ANYWAY. NOW I AM ONE WEEK SINCE THE LAST SERVICE AND THE LIGHT HAS COME BACK ON WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. IF I DEPRESS THE CLUTCH FOR TOO LONG THE VEHICLE MAY SPUTTER AND POSSIBLY STALL, IT STALLED TWICE AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS ON MY WAY TO WORK, AND WHEN I TAKE OFF I HAVE TO HEAVILY ACCELERATE OR IT JUST WILL NOT GO AT ALL. RAINS HIT ME FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY AND ALTHOUGH ALL DOOR SEALS ARE 100% PROPER, WATER LEAKS INTO DRIVER'S SIDE FOOTWELLS VIA HOOD LATCH RELEASE AS BEST I CAN TELL. FOUND THE CAR FLOODED WITH 1-2 INCHES OF WATER, SOAKED INTO CARPET AND CARPET PADDING. REPLACING THE CARPET AND PADDING WOULD COST AROUND 1500 DOLLARS. I RECEIVED LAST MONTH A RECALL NOTICE DATED MAY 2007 FROM VOLKSWAGEN AMERICA FOR THE 2001 JETTA V6. IT WAS FOR A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM) SOFTWARE FOR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER MONITORING SYSTEM. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO GO IMMEDIATELY TO A VOLKSWAGEN DEALER FOR REPAIR. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AND BROUGHT THE CAR YESTERDAY TO THE LOCAL DEALER, SANTA MONICA VOLKSWAGEN. THE SERVICE TEAM INFORMED ME THAT VOLKSWAGEN, HAD UNANNOUNCED TO OWNERS, CLOSED THE RECALL BECAUSE IT HAD YET TO WORK OUT A PERMANENT FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. VOLKSWAGEN AMERICA SHOULD HAVE SENT OWNERS WHO'D RECEIVED THE ORIGINAL RECALL NOTICE A LETTER INFORMING THEM NOT TO ACT ON THE RECALL, NOT TO BRING THEIR CARS IN.
