TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V913000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL). THE CONTACT SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER (BROWN'S VOLKSWAGEN, 10501 MIDLOTHIAN TURNPIKE, RICHMOND, VA 23236, (804) 379-7283) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER LOCATED FAILURE CODE: DTC 125 (WHICH WAS RELATED TO THE RECALL) AND STATED THAT THE ABS CONTROL MODULE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED WITH THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE. THE DEALER ALSO LOCATED FAILURE CODE: DTC 124 (UNKNOWN). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO RESOLVE THE DTC 124 FAILURE CODE. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER AND THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A REMEDY. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL AIRBAGS AIRBAG LIGHT ON HORN STOPPED WORKING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACCESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE SLID BEFORE IT STOPPED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS MODULE WAS FAULTY. IN ADDITION, THE ABS WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND CONSTANTLY BEEPED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE SAFELY TO THEIR DESTINATION AFTER THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NAPELTON VOLKSWAGEN OF ORLANDO (12700 E COLONIAL DR, ORLANDO, FL 32826, (855) 843-6461) WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED THAT SINCE THE WARNING INDICATOR WAS CURRENTLY ILLUMINATED, THE UPDATE COULD NOT BE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER CALLED THE CONTACT AND STATED THE SAME THING AS THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
FUSE BOX IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT MELTED. THE LOCATION IS WHERE THE RIGHT SIT HEADLIGHT FUSE IS. RF HEADLIGHT AND TURN SIGNAL DO NOT WORK. I LOOKED THE PROBLEM UP AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE SAME TYPE VEHICLE WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM.
ABS CONTROL MODULE RECALL 45F2- THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) CONTROL UNIT MAY FAIL DURING ABS OR ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) ACTIVATION, POSSIBLY CAUSING A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. ABS AND STABILITY CONTROL BECOMES INOPERATIVE- A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH. INSUFFICIENT PCU GROUND CONNECTION. ABS PUMP FAILED FAULT CODE 01276/12 ' ABS PUMP ELECTRICAL ERROR IN CIRCUIT REMAINS ABS MODULE CONTROLS THE PUMP. THE SOFTWARE UPDATE IS TO CORRECT INSUFFICIENT GROUND CONNECTION WHICH CAUSES THE PUMP TO FAIL. WHAT DOES THE SOFTWARE UPDATE FIX? PREVENTS MY ABS FROM FAILING HOW IS THE GROUND CONNECTION CHECKED? IF THE SOFTWARE CAN CAUSE THE PUMP TO FAIL AND MY PUMP FAILED SHOULDN'T THE RECALL FIX THAT ISSUE? SPOKE TO VW WITH THEIR REGIONAL MANAGER CALLED NINA A. AT 800-822-8987 OPTION 9 EXTENSION 43320 WHO DENIED MY CLAIM. THEY DID A SOFTWARE UPGRADE ON MY CAR AND THEN LESS TWO MONTHS LATTER MY CARS ABS DOES NOT WORK. EVEN NINA SAID ITS ODD BUT THE CODES COMING BACK SAY IT WASN'T THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE. HOW COINCIDENTAL THIS IS. EVEN THOUGH VW KNOWS MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE THEY ARE NOT TAKING ACTION.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT VARIOUS WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AND THE SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTIONED, WHICH RESULTED IN THE SPEEDOMETER NOT INDICATING THE CORRECT SPEED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V913000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL); HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. WHITE ALLEN VOLKSWAGEN WAS CONTACTED AND REFUSED TO PERFORM THE REPAIR DUE TO THE ABS MODULE BEING DEFECTIVE, WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BEFORE THE RECALL COULD BE PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
STARTER WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO TURN OFF VEHICLE OR TAKE KEY OUT.

WHEN THE VEHICLE APPROACHED A STOP, THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED ALL OVER THE GROUND WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (CAROUSEL VOLKSWAGEN, IOWA CITY, IA, 319-354-2550) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION PUMP MALFUNCTIONED AND RUSHED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDED THAT THE TRANSMISSION BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE BRAKES SEIZED AND STARTED TO MAKE A GRINDING NOISE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO RELEASE. THE FAILURE OCCURED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (SOUTHERN VOLKSWAGEN GREENBRIER, 1248 S MILITARY HWY, CHESAPEAKE, VA 23320) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE MODULE COULD NOT BE READ. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V913000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL). THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
I PURCHASED THIS 2009 JETTA VW USED FROM MY DAUGHTER. SHE WAS ORIGINAL OWNER AND DILIGENT ABOUT KEEPING THE MAINTENANCE UP TO DATE. IT HAD 115,000 MILES WHEN I PURCHASED IT AND HAD TO REPLACE BATTERY AND REAR BRAKES WITHIN 3 MONTHS ALTHOUGH SHE HAD REPLACED REAR BRAKES 6 MONTHS EARLIER. MY COMPLAINT IS THE PARKING BRAKE NEVER SEEMED TO HOLD AND I WOULD NEED TO LEAVE THE CAR IN GEAR WHEN PARKING THE CAR ON A HILL. THE CAR HAD ROLLED BACK WHEN I LEFT THE CAR PARKED AT MY WORK 6 MONTHS AGO AND IT ROLLED BACK AND HIT THE SIDEWALK CURB. NO DAMAGE AT THE TIME. TODAY 8/28.17 I WENT TO THE STORE AND PARKED THE CAR OUTSIDE THE STORES ENTRANCE DOOR. THE LOT HAS A VERY SLIGHT SLOPE BUT GENERALLY LEVEL. I PULLED BACK ON THE HAND BRAKE WHICH SEEMED SECURE. WHEN I LEFT THE CAR I WAS GONE FOR LESS THAN 3 MIN WHEN I ENTERED THE STORE. I HAD FORGOTTEN MY CELLPHONE AND RETURNED TO THE CAR WHICH WAS ONLY 10 FT FROM DOOR. IT HAD ROLLED BACK ABOUT 50 FT AND HIT A TREE IN THE PARKING LOT.. THE CRASH CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY REAR RIGHT RIGHT FENDER AND QUARTER PANEL IN THE AMOUNT OF OVER $2000. THIS CRASH WAS DIRECT RESULT OF A FAULTY HAND BRAKE. IT WAS ONLY A MIRACLE THAT NO CAR OR CHILDREN WERE HIT BY THE CAR. ONLY A LONE TREE WAS DAMAGED. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECT OF THIS MODEL. MY DAUGHTER CONFIRMED THAT THIS HAD ALSO OCCURRED WITH HER AFTER SETTING THE PARKING BRAKE TO HIS FULL STOP POSITION. I BELIEVE VW SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DAMAGES.
I GOT THE 2009 VW JETTA ON 8/2017 AT A USED CAR LOT I WENT ON WEBSITE VW SCHEDULE APPOINTMENT FOR A OIL CHANGE CHECK VIN # ON RECALL BY THEN IT COME UP RECALL CALLED THE NUMBER WEBSITE GAVE ME
PARTICIPATED IN VOLKSWAGEN RECALL INVOLVING THE ABS AND ESP WARNING LIGHTS AND SYSTEM FAILURE. MY VEHICLE PASSED THE 'SOFTWARE' TEST IN MARCH OF 2017, IN MAY OF 2017 I HAD REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS, ROTORS AND ONE CALIPER, APPROXIMATELY 2,000 MILES LATER ALL OF THE ABS, ESP AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS CAN ON. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE REPAIR SHOP, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT RE-RUN THE SOFTWARE UPDATE, THE ABS COULD FAIL AND THEY WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ABS MODULE FOR A COST OF $1,700. THE ERROR CODE I WAS GIVEN AT THE DEALERSHIP IS 16352 014, WHICH INDICATES AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE IN THE UNIT, MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THIS FAILURE IS PART OF THE RECALL?
VW REFUSING TO COMPLETE ABS MODULE RECALL BECAUSE ABS MODULE ALREADY HAS FAULT CODES STORED. THE POINT OF THE RECALL IS TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE FAULTY ABS MODULES, BUT IN OUR CASE, SINCE THE MODULE ALREADY CONTAINS FAULT CODES, THE DEALERSHIP AND VW CORPORATE ARE REFUSING TO PERFORM THE SAFETY RECALL
2009 VW JETTA SE HAS A RECALL FOR THE ABS MODULE AND THE VW REFUSED TO HONOR THE RECALL. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE RECALL AND I WAS TOLD TO WAIT FOR THE RECALL BECAUSE THE ABS MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE. AFTER THE RECALL WAS ISSUED I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER BUT VW REFUSED TO REPLACE THE ABS MODULE, AS STATED BY THE RECALL. REASON GIVEN, IS THAT THE ABS MODULE HAS PRE-EXISTING FAULTS. THIS IS OBVIOUS, THAT IS WHY IT FAILED. THE COMPONENTS ON THE BOARD ARE NOT SOLDERED PROPERLY THUS LEADING TO THE COMPONENTS ON THE BOARD TO COME LOOSE DUE TO THE NATURAL VIBRATION OF THE VEHICLE. THE ABS MODULE IS DEFECTIVE AND A SOFTWARE UPDATE WILL NOT REPAIR A BAD SOLDERING. PLEASE ADVISE.
ABS MODULE RECALL. I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE FROM VW. PRIOR TO SCHEDULING A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH DEALER TO FIX THE ABS UNIT FAILED ON THE CAR. WHEN THE DEALER TESTED IT THEY SAID IT FALLS OUTSIDE OF THE VERY NARROW PARAMETERS THAT VW DEFINED TO COVER THE ABS MODULE FAILURE AND I WOULD NEED TO PAY $2,700 TO REPLACE THE ABS MODULE. THE SERVICE MANAGER CONFIDENTIALLY TOLD ME THEY ARE SEEING A LARGE NUMBER OF SUDDEN ABS MODULE FAILURES AND VW IS NOT COVERING VERY MANY. THEY WROTE THE RECALL AND TEST PROCEDURE TO AVOID HAVING TO COVER THE REPAIR. I BELIEVE THIS IS A BLATANT EFFORT BY VW TO AVOID THE EXPENSE OF ANOTHER COSTLY RECALL ON THE HEELS OF THE DIESEL DEBACLE. I BELIEVE THIS ABS SCANDAL IS A GREAT CANDIDATE FOR ANOTHER CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST VW
WHILE DRIVING MY 2009 VW JETTA I WENT TO PULL OUT INTO INTERSECTION AND THE CAR SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING. AT THIS TIME A LIGHT CAME ON THAT SAYS EPC AND PRIOR TO THIS MY CAR WOULD NOT START AND WOULD SAY SAFE ON WARNING LIGHTS. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V913000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL), ALTHOUGH THE FAILURES WERE IDENTICAL. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED NO SOLUTION OTHER THAN HAVING THE DEALER REPLACE THE PART. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL FAILED TO OPERATE NORMALLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUNTRUP VOLKSWAGEN (LOCATED AT 6000 S LINDBERGH BLVD SAINT, MO 63123 314-892 -8200) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE CALIPER AND PARKING BRAKE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
DOING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY OUR 2009 JETTA TDI LOST ALL POWER. THE HIGH INJECTION FUEL PUMP TURNED OUT TO BE THE PROBLEM. REPAIRS WILL COST AT LEAST $6,000.00 VW MODIFIED THIS PUMP 5 DIFFERENT TIMES AND NEVER NOTIFIED THE OWNERS ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH THE PUMP. THE NHTSA HAD AN INVESTIGATION AND CONCLUDED PEOPLE WERE USING THE WRONG FUEL. WE HAVE 2 DIESEL VEHICLES AND KNOW WHICH PUMP AT THE SERVICE STATIONS ARE DIESEL. THIS IS A SERIOUS LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM, CATASTROPHIC FAILURE AND NO POWER IN YOU CAR YET THE NHTSA CLOSED THEIR INVESTIGATION. VW WILL DO NOTHING TO HELP WITH REPAIRS AND THE JETTA HAS BECOME A TOTAL LEMON. WE HAVE RECEIVED SEVERAL RECALL NOTICES THROUGH THE YEARS, NONE REGARDING THE FUEL PUMP, AND THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE RECALLS EACH TIME. WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM.
MY ABS MODULE STOPPED WORKING OCT 2016, I HAD IT REPAIRED NOV 2016. I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FOR THE ABS MODULE FEB 2017. STATED WOULD REIMBURSE FOR REPAIRS IF THEY HAD ALREADY BEEN MADE. I MAILED REQUESTED INFORMATION 3/3/17. I PHONED ON 4-12-17 TO VERIFY IT WAS RECEIVED. I WAS TOLD IT WAS RECEIVED ON 3/9/17 AND WAS UNDER REVIEW. I WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL WAS FOR A SPECIFIC PART, NOT THE ENTIRE ABS MODULE AND MY REPAIR BILL DID NOT HAVE THE PART NUMBER THAT WAS REPLACED ON IT. I WAS TOLD TO WAIT FOR A LETTER EXPLAINING WHAT FURTHER INFORMATION THEY WOULD NEED FROM MY MECHANIC AND I SHOULD HAVE THAT LETTER IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS. AFTER A MONTH AND RECEIVING NO LETTER I CALLED ON 5/17/17 AND WAS TOLD STILL UNDER REVIEW, I WOULD HAVE A RESPONSE IN 4 WEEKS. BY 6/23/17 STILL NO LETTER SO I CALLED AGAIN AND WAS TOLD BY THE REP SHE WOULD CALL ME BACK AFTER SHE LOOKED INTO IT. ON 6/26/17 THE VW REP PHONED ME AND STATED THEY WOULD NOT BE PAYING MY CLAIM BECAUSE I HAD THE ABS MODULE REPAIRED INSTEAD OF A COMPLETELY REPLACED. THIS IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT I WAS TOLD ORIGINALLY. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SCAM TO NOT HAVE TO PAY. PER THEIR ORIGINAL RECALL LETTER-ATTACHED-IT WAS A SPECIFIC DEFECT IN THE ABS SYSTEM AND NOT THE ENTIRE SYSTEM ITSELF. THE DECLINE LETTER THAT I RECEIVED-ATTACHED-STATES THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED BECAUSE I NEEDED TO REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ABS MODULE. CLEARLY THEY CHANGE THEIR STORY TO SUIT THEIR NEEDS.

AFTERWARDS, THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V913000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HERITAGE VOLKSWAGEN TO BE REPAIRED, BUT THERE WERE OTHER ISSUES WITH THE ABS. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE CAMPAIGN WAS A SOFTWARE ISSUE AND THEY NO LONGER HAD TO ASSIST WITH THE RECALL. THE CONTACT REFERENCED VERBIAGE FROM THE RECALL, WHICH NOTED THAT THE ABS CONTROL MODULES WITH INSUFFICIENT GROUND CONNECTIONS WOULD BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LEE VOLKSWAGEN SUBARU (130 HOLLYWOOD BLVD SW FORT WALTON BEACH FL 32548 850-243-3171), BUT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED BECAUSE THE SECOND LEVEL CODES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, WHICH WERE NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
TAKATA RECALL. IN FEBRUARY OF 2017 MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS ACCOMPANIED BY A SERIES OF 3 BEEPS. AS I CONTINUED TO DRIVE MORE LIGHTS CAME ON AND MY DASH BOARD LOOKED LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE EX. AIRBAG, OIL, CHECK ENGINE, ABS, EPC, BRAKE LIGHT, ETC. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGH WAY MY GAUGES WILL SHUT OFF AND I CAN NOT SEE HOW FAST I AM GOING, MY CAR WILL DECELERATE WITH MY FOOT ON THE GAS AT RANDOM TIMES ON THE HIGH WAY. I LOOK MY CAR IN FOR REPAIR TO CARS AUTO IN LAS VEGAS BECAUSE MY CAR COULD NOT PASS SMOG. THEY DID AN ANALYSIS AND INFORMED ME THAT MY ABS MODULE WAS SHOT AND THERE WAS AN ACTIVE RECALL FOR THE DEVICE. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL VW DEALERSHIP AND THOUGHT WITH MY SAFETY IN CONCERN THAT THIS WOULD BE A SIMPLE FIX. IF THE ABS IS FAULTY AS EXPLAINED IN RECALL #16V913 UNDER VW ACTION 45F2 IF THE ABS FAILS TO PASS THE TEST THEN IT WILL BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. WHEN DRIVING ON A WINDEY ROAD THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WAS BREAKING FUNNY. I CHECKED ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE ABS MODULE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE RECALL ALSO STATED THAT THE ABS MODULE MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I TOOK IT IN AND HAD THE UPDATE INSTALLED, SO NOW THAT I HAVE IT BACK, IT IS WORSE THAN EVER. THEY SAID THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ABS MODULE FOR $1,6665 IN ORDER TO GET MY CAR WORKING RIGHT AGAIN. "WASN'T IT INCLUDED" I ASKED. THEY SAID IT WAS A SEPARATE PROBLEM AND THE ERROR CODE WAS NOT IN THE PERIMETERS. I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM DO TO VOLKSWAGEN'S SCREW UP WITH THE SOFTWARE. I'VE CHECKED AROUND AND THERE ARE MANY OTHERS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. JUST THE OTHER DAY THE EPC LIGHT CAME ON AND THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING BECAUSE APPARENTLY THE ABS MODULE ON THIS VEHICLE ALSO TRACKS YOUR SPEED. RECALL 45F2- WHILE DRIVING MY CAR UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON. COINCIDENTALLY THE NEXT DAY I RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL STATING THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ABS FOR MY VEHICLE. WHEN I CONTACTED VW THEY COULD NOT FIND THE RECALL. I DID A SEARCH AND FOUND IT IN 5MINS. I CONTACTED THEM AGAIN AND TOLD THEM I FOUND IT THEY PROCEEDED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. AFTER THEY WORKED ON MY CAR AND DID THE SOFTWARE UPDATE THE ABS LIGHT WAS STILL ON. THEY TOLD ME MY ABS PUMP HAD A FAILURE CODE OF 01276/12 (ABS PUMP ELECTRICAL ERROR IN CIRCUIT REMAINS) AND THAT THE RECALL DID NOT COVER IT AND QUOTED ME TO REPLACE THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY AT $2600. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THE ABS MODULE CONTROLS THE PUMP AND IF THE PUMP FAILS IT IS BECAUSE THE MODULE FAILED. I CONTACTED VW CORPORATE AND THEY GAVE ME THE SAME ANSWER, IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. IF I DRIVE THE CAR I AM AT RISK OF DYING, MY WIFE AND CHILDREN ARE AT RISK OF DYING. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS OF THE CAR. I CAN NOT BELIEVE VW WOULD TRY AND PUSH THE FIX BACK ON THE CONSUMER!!!!

VW DEALERSHIP STATED THAT 70% OF ABS BOARDS FAIL TEST AND IT TAKES EIGHT DAYS TO RECEIVE REPLACEMENT PART. I CONTACTED VW CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OPENED A CASE. VW CUSTOMER SERVICE INVESTIGATED AND CONFIRMED VW POLICY PREVENTS DEALERSHIPS FROM ORDERING OR MAINTAINING PARTS INVENTORY FOR RECALLED CARS WITHOUT AN ERROR REPORT. I CONTACTED THE CEO OF VW BUT HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE. I WOULD LIKE THE NHTSA'S ASSISTANCE TO HAVE VW COMPLETE THE RECALL REPAIRS AND HAVE REQUIRED PARTS IN INVENTORY TO MAKE REPAIRS.

THE SERVICE ADVISER IS PHILIP GIBSON. I CALLED PHILIP AT 4:46PM AND HE INFORMED ME THAT THE REPLACEMENT ABS PART WAS PUT ON ORDER AND THAT IT WOULD TAKE APPROXIMATELY 5 DAYS TO FIX. VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA WAS CONTACTED AND WE WERE TOLD THAT THE REPLACEMENT WOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY AND IT WOULD BE REPAIRED AFTER WAITING AND PLAYING PHONE TAG WITH VW OF AMERICA AND THE DEALER WE WERE TOLD BY VW OF AMERICA THAT THE ABS CONTROL MODULE WOULD NOT BE REPLACED BY THEM. WE ARE LEFT WITH A CAR UNREPAIRED BY A RECALL THAT IS ON THE CAR. WE WERE INSULTED AND OFFERED A $100 GIFT CARD IN WHICH WAS NEVER RECEIVED. WE HAVE SMALL CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE THAT HAS A RECALL. ALL WE ASKED WAS FOR THE ABS CONTROL MODULE BE REPLACED AT NO CHARGE AS WE WERE TOLD. WE OWN 2 VOLKSWAGENS AND WERE THINKING OF A 3RD BUT WITH THIS CUSTOMER SERVICE I AM NOT SURE IF I CAN PURCHASE ANOTHER VW.

THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN AS TO WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
IN FEBRUARY 2017 I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC. REGARDING A DEFECTIVE ABS CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE. TO DATE, I HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTED TO HAVE THIS RECALL COMPLETED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND AT DIFFERENT VOLKSWAGEN SERVICE DEPARTMENTS AND HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT THE RECALL COULDN'T BE COMPLETED DUE TO "LOSS OF COMMUNICATION WITH THE ABS MODULE" CURRENTLY I AM UNABLE TO PASS THE REQUIRED SMOG TESTING AND HAVE BEEN STOPPED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT BECAUSE OF EXPIRED TAGS. MY REGISTRATION FEES ARE PAID IN FULL HOWEVER I AM UNABLE TO PASS A SMOG TEST BECAUSE OF THE RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER OF A 22 MONTH OLD GIRL WHO I TRANSPORT IN THIS VEHICLE AND I AM FEARFUL WE ARE IN DANGER OF ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS RECALL OR GETTING TOWED BY THE POLICE I WOULD BE FACED WITH A FINANCIAL HARDSHIP IF THAT WERE TO OCCUR AND IF I SHOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE.
SEAT WARMER BURNED A HOLE THROUGH THE SEAT AND BURNED THROUGH MY CLOTHING TO MY SKIN. I REACHED BACK TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG AND BURNED MY HAND. I HAD SMELLED SMOKE BUT IT WAS TOO LATE BY THE TIME I FIGURED OUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED. IT COULD HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF I HAD BEEN ON A BUSY ROAD WITH MY SON AND IT STARTED A FIRE. I WAS LUCKY I WAS IN OUR SMALL TOWN AND WAS ABLE TO GET PULLED OVER QUICKLY. WHILE THERE SO NO SERIOUS INJURY, THIS COULD HAVE ENDED MUCH WORSE.
