MY VEHICLE IS KEYLESS ENTRY AND MOST OF THE TIME THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE DOOR IS FAULTY AND DOES NOT UNLOCK. THE MECHANISM THAT UNLOCKS THE DOOR ONLY UNLOCKS IF THE CAR IS PARKED ON A HILL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS ALL DOORS WHEN DRIVING AND IF I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT, I COULD NOT OPEN THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. I HAVE AN INFANT DAUGHTER AND I ALWAYS HAVE TO LOAD HER IN THE CAR FROM THE BACK DRIVERS SIDE, ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD. I SEE MANY OTHER VOLKSWAGEN OWNERS COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE IN ONLINE FORUMS. I'VE ASKED THE VW DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY DON'T ACKNOWLEDGE IT IS A FAULTY PART THAT WAS INSTALLED IN MANUFACTURING. THE CAR HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED IT USED IN 2013. THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY.

SUBJECT:2011 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA [XXX] NON-COMPLIANCE WITH FMVSS STANDARD NO. 206 DOOR LOCKS AND DOOR RETENTION COMPONENTS - PASSENGER CARS REQUEST FOR DOOR LATCH REPAIR REIMBURSEMENT THE FRONT RIGHT DOOR LATCH OF MY DAUGHTER'S VW RECENTLY BECAME INOPERATIVE. THE DOOR SIMPLY DID NOT LATCH WHEN CLOSED AND WOULD FREELY SWING OPEN. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE CLOSEST DEALER, TOM WOOD VW OF NOBLESVILLE, IN. ON MAY 13, 2017. IN DISCUSSION WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER, [XXX], HE STATED THAT VW WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR. ESPECIALLY SINCE THE MILEAGE WAS 101,000. I MENTIONED TO [XXX] THAT THE DOOR LATCH IS PART OF THE FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS, (FMVSS STD. 206) AND THAT THOSE STANDARDS ARE NOT LIMITED TO MILEAGE OR WARRANTY. A VEHICLE SHOULD MEET THOSE STANDARDS FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. WE PAID FOR THE REPAIR AT A COST OF $512 (SEE ATTACHED REPAIR INVOICE RECEIPT). IN PREPARATION OF THIS LETTER I ENTERED IN A CHAT WITH VW CUSTOMER CARE. THE VW REP, WHILE SYMPATHETIC TO THE SITUATION, STATED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED HAD THE VEHICLE BEEN WITHIN THE MILEAGE REQUIREMENT OF 50,000 MILES. I STATED THAT THIS ISSUE WAS A FMVSS COMPLIANCE ISSUE AND THAT SUCH A REPAIR SHOULD NOT BE LIMITED TO MILEAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE DOOR DOES NOT STAY SHUT AND SWINGS OPEN FREELY. MY DAUGHTER'S CAR HAD TO BE REPAIRED. IT WAS NOT A MATTER OF CHOICE IN THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, AND MOST LIKELY ILLEGAL TO DRIVE. I PAID FOR THE REPAIR. I AM REQUESTING THAT VW REIMBURSE ME FOR THE COST OF $512. *DL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED TO PROPERLY LOCK, AND THE DOOR SWUNG OPEN WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO TIE THE DOOR WITH ROPE TO PREVENT IT FROM OPENING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER A RECALL OR WARRANTY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND MY BRAKES WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR WOULDN'T STOP. I HAD TO KEEP PUMPING THE BRAKE UNTIL I GOT SLIGHT PRESSURE AND PULLED THE HAND BRAKE WHICH DIDN'T HELP. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THAT IT WAS REPLACE THIS WAS LAST YEAR. YESTERDAY I WAS DRIVING AND THE SAME THING OCCURRED I CHANGED MY BRAKES AND THEN WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT MY BRAKES. I AM LEAKING BRAKE FLUID AND THAT IT IS MY MASTER CYLINDER. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WHERE I CAN'T STOP AND I'M PUTTING MYSELF AND OTHER PEOPLE AT DANGER BECAUSE THERE IS NO WARNING OF WHEN IT'S GOING TO OCCUR.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY SEVERAL MESSAGES STARTED TO APPEAR IN REFERENCE TO FAILED LIGHTS. I LOST SIGNAL LIGHTS, HEADLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS. REPLACING THE LIGHTS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. AT THE DEALER THEY TOLD ME THAT THE FUSE BOX WAS BURNED OUT AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON 3/24/2017.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED WHIPLASH, SHOULDER, BACK, AND LEFT KNEE INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOWING LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
VEHICLE STATIONARY, IGNITION LOCKED/CYLINDER LOCK MALFUNCTION WHILE CAR ON, NOT ABLE TO TURN CAR OFF. WHEEL LOCKED WHILE CAR ON. THIS OCCURRED TWICE BEFORE.
THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG SENSOR IS NO LONGER EFFECTIVE. THIS MEANS THAT IF I WAS TO GET INTO A COLLISION, THE CAR WOULD NOT SENSE THERE IS A PASSENGER AND THE AIRBAGS ON THAT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DEPLOY. THIS SENSOR DOES NOT WORK AT ALL, AND THERE IS AN AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT IN THE DASH.
ABS MODULE FAILED AFTER 31K MILES. HORN ALSO FAILED. THIS WAS DIAGNOSED BY MY MECHANIC. TOLD ME ABOUT THE RECALL ON 2009 AND 2010 JETTA'S FOR ABS MODULE. LIGHTS FOR ABS, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, AIR BAG AND TIRE PRESSURE ARE ALL ILLUMINATED. CAR HAS 31K MILES. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE ABS MODULE ON 2009 AND 2010 JETTA'S THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED IN 2010.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING, THE HORN WAS DEPRESSED BUT FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HORN ALARM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V196000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000. UPON STARTING THE CAR ON FEB 8, 2017, THE RADIO/NAV SYSTEM/BLUETOOTH SYSTEM DID NOT WORK.
On February 2, 2017, My car was stop in an intersection. A car coming in my direction swerved into my lane and hit me head on. The air bag was deployed, it exploded so violently that both of my hands were severly injured. There was a fracture in my right wrist. There was a laceration to the base of the thumb and my thumb finger almost fell off and required several stiches for my forefinger to be attached. The bones in my right arm was shattered into pieces and it required major surgery. My left arm requires a total of 4 surgeries. I have to undergo an eighteen (18) months of Physical Therapy for both my left and right hand. There was so much pain in my left arm and the doctor had to perfom an operation called "Proximal row carpectomy (PRC)". Proximal row carpectomy (PRC) is a motion-preserving treatment for the degenerated wrist. Three (3) very important bones in Proximal row carpectomy (PRC)surgery was removed. This surgery is done to alleviate (reduced) the pain in my arm. I was still lucky, fortunate that the car hit me in front. If my car was hit from behind, my upper body especially my head will be thrown forward and the explosion of the air bag would explode in my face and the xplosion could have killed me or break my neck. The exlposion of the air bag was very similar to the beirut explosion that was caused by ammonium nitrate which was sometimes used in the defected airbag. Very explosive. The air bag was supposed to protect me but in this case it caused tremedous damage to my both my left and right arm. After more than 5 years both of my hands have not fully recovered. It still hurts lifting some heavy object which I could easily lifted before the accident. I trully believe that the airbag is my car has a problem and it could be a Takata air bag that also need to be recalled. My neighbor’s teenage daughter is also driving the same year and model of my car and it always worry me to think what if the air bag is defected.
WHEN VEHICLE SUBJECTED TO COLD TEMPERATURES (BELOW FREEZING) THE WIPER MOTOR STOPS WORKING. WHEN VEHICLE PLACED IN WARM GARAGE WIPERS WORK AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS OVER THE LAST YEAR. WIPER MOTOR WAS REPLACED BY VW DEALERSHIP. NEW MOTOR IS A NEW PART NUMBER. IT APPEARS THE OLD WIPER MOTOR DESIGN MAY HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE ALLOWING MOISTURE TO ENTER WHERE DRIVE SHAFT ENTERS MOTOR. NEW WIPER MOTOR HAS IMPROVED RUBBER SEAL IN THIS AREA.
PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT RANDOMLY CAME ON BECAUSE OF SOME SORT WIRING ISSUE. HEADLIGHT BULBS CONSTANTLY SHORT OUT. I'VE HAD TO CHANGE ATLEAST 10 BULBS IN LESS THAN A YEAR. HEADLIGHTS GO OUT AND TAILIGHTS... THESE ARE 2 SEPERATE ISSUES. BUT IF YOU GOOGLE IT, THEY ARE BOTH COMMON ISSUES. IT'S BEEN AN ISSUE ON MY CAR FOR YEARS, BUT I DIDN'T REALIZE I COULD REPORT IT.

THE CONTACT MOVED THE VEHICLE ONTO THE ROAD SHOULDER AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT HAD PREVIOUSLY TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO STEVE WHITE VOLKSWAGEN (100 DUVALL DRIVE GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA, 29607, (864) 288-8300) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE CODES RETRIEVED INDICATED FAILURES WITH THE CAMSHAFT POSITIONING SENSOR AND CAMSHAFT ADJUSTER. THE CAMSHAFT ADJUSTER AND CAMSHAFT SENSOR WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PREVIOUS PARTS THAT WERE REPLACED, NEEDED TO BE REPLACED A SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. *LN*DT CONSUMER STATED FAILURE HAS RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES.*JB *AS
ON THIS VEHICLE, FUSE (F16 PLUG-IN POSITION) OVERHEATED AND DAMAGED THE FUSE BOX, CAUSING A PARTIAL LOSS OF EXTERIOR VEHICLE LIGHTING. THIS COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH CAUSING INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY. VW ISSUED 97AM ACTION ALERT FOR EARLIER YEAR SAME MODELS, BUT NOT THIS AND LATER YEAR MODELS.
WHEN PARKED OVERNIGHT WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER TEENS, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS DO NOT WORK THE NEXT MORNING. IF I WARM THE CAR UP FOR 20 MINUTES OR SO AND THEN LET IT SIT FOR ANOTHER HALF HOUR THEN THEY WILL USUALLY WORK. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOUR OR FIVE TIMES FROM 12/2016 - 2/2017. SEEMS WORSE IF IT HAS BEEN SNOWING OR ICING OVERNIGHT. WHEN THEY ARE WORKING THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF HESITATION OR SLOW MOVEMENT. THE FACT THAT IT IS RANDOM SEEMS UNUSUALLY DANGEROUS. SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY OR MOVING DOES NOT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE. CAR HAS 52000 MILES. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL REPORTS FROM OTHER PEOPLE WITH THIS ISSUE. SHOULD WARRANT AN INVESTIGATION.
CAR SHUDDERED AND LOST POWER TO ACCELERATE. EPC LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE FLASH - SAME AS LAST TIME.
WHEN COLD, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WON'T WORK UNTIL IT WARMS UP ENOUGH. IF YOUR DRIVING AND IT GETS COLD, LIKE DURING SNOWSTORM, THEY QUIT WORKING. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND HAVE ENCOUNTERED MANY INSTANCES OF THIS. THE COST IS AROUND $500 TO $1000 FOR PARTS AND LABOR FOR..., MAYBE THE MOTOR, MAYBE THE WIPER TRANSMISSION, MAYBE BOTH. NONSENSE! THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE DO SOMETHING AND ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM IS OCCURRING WITH DIFFERENT VEHICLES OVER MANY YEAR MODELS. JUST DO AN ONLINE SEARCH FOR WINDSHIELD WIPER PROBLEMS AND NARROW THE RESULTS TO WIPERS WON'T WORK WHEN ITS COLD. DEALER SAYS WE'VE NEVER ENCOUNTERED THAT. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT IF THEY KNOW WHAT THEY HAVE TO REPLACE. PLEASE HELP. PEOPLE ARE IN DANGER. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY WAS NOT IN THE IGNITION AND THERE WERE NO OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. BOTH LOW BEAM LIGHTS WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME. CHECKED ALL FUSES NONE BURNT. CHANGED THE BULBS STILL OUT.
MY KEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TURN THE CAR ON. IT WILL GO INTO THE IGNITION, BUT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TURN AT ALL. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. IT HAD BEEN DRIVEN 20 MINUTES EARLIER AND THROUGHOUT THE DAY WITHOUT A PROBLEM. A FEW WEEKS AGO WHILE PARKED ON A CITY STREET THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OFF.
CAR STALLS WITH NO WARNING WHILE DRIVING. FUEL SMELLS PERMEATE THE AIR AROUND VEHICLE AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF ATTEMPTED STARTING. VW DENIES IT IS A FUEL PUMP ISSUE. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN A SHOP FOR OVER A MONTH WITH NO FIX IN SIGHT. YET VW-AMERICA DENIES CLAIM UNDER LEMON LAW.
2011 VW JETTA TDI FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. AS CAR SLOWED DUE TO TRAFFIC, THE COIL (GLOW PLUG?) LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN CAR CAME TO COMPLETE STOP DUE TO TRAFFIC, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STOPPED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THERE WAS NO TIME FOR ME TO MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY DUE TO TRAFFIC CONGESTION SO I WAS STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY. WAITING FOR CA HIGHWAY PATROL FOR HELP, TRAFFIC CLEARED AND I WAS SUBSEQUENTLY HIT BY A CAR MOVING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND SUSTAINED INJURIES (RIBS, BACK AND NECK INJURIES, AND CONCUSSION) ONLINE, THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS OF OTHER VW CARS THAT EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME ISSUE (COIL/GLOW PLUG LIGHT, THEN ENGINE FAILURE). THIS HAPPENED TO ME ON A FREEWAY AND THE REAR-END COLLISION I WAS SUBJECTED TO DUE TO CAR FAILURE COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. SINCE THIS IS HAPPENING TO OTHER VW CARS, I BELIEVE THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED TO PREVENT FATALITIES. THANK YOU! *TR
I LEFT WORK TO PICK UP MY CHILDREN 3 TIMES IN A SHORT TRIP THE CAR CUT OFF, IT SEEMS AS IF YOU DON'T GIVE GAS THE CAR WILL STALL AND QUIT. I HAVE STARTED TRYING TO HOLD THE BRAKE AND GIVE GAS TO PREVENT FROM IT CUTTING OFF AT STOP LIGHTS, THE CAR WILL ALSO CUT OFF IN MOTION IF NOT GIVEN GAS. I CAN'T FILE A COMPLAINT EVERYDAY BUT NOT ONE DAY GOES BY THAT MY CAR DON'T CUT OFF

THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V196000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA WITHOUT FILING A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
FOR TWO YEARS PRIOR TO AUGUST 2016, I WENT INTO MY VW DEALER ONCE A MONTH BECAUSE THE CHECK TIRE LIGHT CAME ON. EACH TIME THEY JUST PUT AIR IN THE TIRES AND SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM, AND EACH TIME I ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE RIMS. ONCE OR TWICE THEY INSPECTED AND CLEANED THE RIMS AND SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. IN JUNE 2016 I ASKED THEM TO CHECK AGAIN BECAUSE I PLANNED TO DRIVE FROM CHICAGO TO NEW YORK. THEY ASSURED ME I WOULD NOT HAVE A PROBLEM. BUT DRIVING BACK FROM NEW YORK IN AUGUST 2016, THE CAR WAS NOT HANDLING WELL, SO I CHECKED THE TIRES EVEN THOUGH THE CHECK TIRE LIGHT HAD NOT COME ON. I DIDN'T SPOT A PROBLEM, SO I CONTINUED TO DRIVE, BUT ON THE EXPRESSWAY JUST OUTSIDE OF YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO, THE LEFT FRONT TIRE SUDDENLY WENT FLAT, AND I BARELY WAS ABLE TO STEER THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WITH THE HELP OF A STATE TROUPER I FINALLY GOT A TOW TRUCK AND HAD THE SPARE PUT ON. THE NEXT MORNING I DROVE TO THE CLOSEST VW DEALER IN YOUNGSTOWN. THEY REPLACED THE TIRE, WHICH WAS DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR. THEY SAID THAT THEY FOUND TWO SMALL INDENTATIONS ON THE INSIDE OF THE RIM THAT PROBABLY CAUSED THE TIRE TO LEAK AIR AND GO FLAT. THEY FIXED THE INDENTATIONS. BACK HOME AT THE VW DEALER IN GLENVIEW, IL, THEY AGAIN ASSURED ME THERE WAS NO PROBLEM, AND THEY REIMBURSED ME FOR THE REPAIRS. I ASKED VW TO REPLACE ALL THE RIMS AND TIRES FOR BY BACK THE CAR. THEY REFUSED. ONLINE I SEE OTHERS WITH THIS COMPLAINT. I HAVE DECIDED TO SELL THE CAR MYSELF, AT GREAT LOSS, AND BUY A SUBARU. THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT I TOOK TO THE HIGHEST LEVELS AT VW, BUT THEY WOULDN'T LISTEN TO MY CLAIM. *TR
MY VEHICLE WILL CUT OFF AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING AND STEERING LOCKS UP, ALSO MY ALARM WILL MAKE THE SOUND TO DISARM THE VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING I HAVE TO PULL OVER SHUT DOWN CAR AND DISARM IT AND START AGAIN. WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT THE VEHICLES RPM WILL RAISE AND GO DOWN RAISE AND GO DOWN UNTIL CAR JUST SHUTS OFF. I WAS PULLING INTO MY PARKING STALL AND CAR SHUT OFF AND LOCKED UP I HAD TO HIT THE BRAKE AND RE START THE CAR TO PULL IN SAFELY OR IT WOULD HAVE RAN INTO THE CARPORT. ON THIS DATE THE CAR SHUT ITSELF OFF IN MOTION 2 TIMES AND IT CUT OFF WITH BRAKE ON AT A LIGHT 3 TIMES
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR TO WORK LAST THURSDAY (07/28/16) THE CAR STALLED AND ROLLED TO A STOP. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC AND HE INDICATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND POSSIBLY THE INJECTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR HAD JUST UNDER 1/4 TANK OF DIESEL FUEL AT THE TIME. THERE WERE NO ERROR LIGHTS OR OTHER INDICATION OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE IS STILL AT THE MECHANIC, HE INDICATED THAT THE PARTS ARE $900 AND LABOR WILL BE ADDITIONAL. DEPENDING ON WHAT HE FINDS AS HE DOES THE REPAIR. HE INDICATED THAT THE INJECTORS MAY BE DAMAGED WHICH WOULD ADD AN ADDITIONAL $1000 FOR PARTS PLUS LABOR. I DIDN'T TAKE THE CAR TO VW BECAUSE I DON'T TRUST THEM. THE AC FAILED LAST MONTH AND THEY WANTED $1900 FOR THE REPAIR, I BROUGHT IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HAD IT REPAIRED FOR $800. THEY BILLED ME $200 TO TELL ME THE AC WAS BAD. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 40,000 MILE ON IT. I DON'T HAVE THE REPAIR INVOICES AT THIS TIME. UP TO THE TIME OF THE AC FAILURE ALL WORK HAS BEEN COMPLETED BY VW.

WHEN COMING TO A STOP AS VEHICLE IS SHIFTING DOWN, IT LUNGES FORWARD AND YOU FEEL A HARD KNOCK COMING FROM TRANSMISSION. INTERMITTENT ISSUE. SAFETY CONCERN AS IT OCCURS AS YOU ARE SLOWING DOWN. I DROVE TO THE DEALER, THINKING IT WAS A FUSE OR SOMETHING EASY TO FIX AND THEY SAID THE RADIO IS BROKEN AND IT BE OVER $1500.00 TO REPLACE. I WAS A BIT SHOCKED - THIS RADIO IS NOT FANCY, STANDARD STOCK RADIO. I STARTED DOING RESEARCH IN ALL THE VW JETTA FORUMS AND MANY PEOPLE (THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE OR AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT CAUSED THE RADIO TO BREAK) THE 2011 JETTA RADIO IS JUNK AND IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. RIGHT FRONT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY (HIGH & LOW BEAM, TURN SIGNAL, DRL), RIGHT REAR TAILLIGHT, THIRD BRAKE LIGHT, LICENSE PLATE LIGHT AND LEFT REAR TURN SIGNAL ALL STOPPED WORKING AT THE SAME TIME. DASH INFORMATION CENTER REPORTED ALL OF THESE LIGHTS NEED TO BE CHECKED. AFTER 1.5 HOURS OF TROUBLESHOOTING WITH A FLUKE MULTI-METER, I FOUND A POST ON TDI FORUMS REFERENCING CAMPAIGN 97AM TO CHECK THE FUSE PANEL UNDER THE HOOD, POSITION F16, 30AMP FUSE FOR MELTING. I CHECKED THIS FUSE AND THE FUSE PANEL AND FUSE IS MELTED. I CONTACTED THE VW DEALERSHIP THAT VERIFIED THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS ISSUE PERTAINING TO MY VIN. I THEN CONTACTED VW CUSTOMER CARE WHO ALSO SAID THERE IS NO RECALL OR SAFETY ISSUE AND THEY WILL NOT CORRECT IT BASED ON NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ISSUE ON THE 2009 - 2012 JETTA SPORTWAGENS. VW ADVISED ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE VW DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS BUT ADVISED I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CHARGES TO FIX THE CAR.

AFTER DINER GETTING IN THE CAR AND GETTING READY TO START DRIVING I REALIZE I CAN'T PLAY MUSIC! I ALWAYS USE THE AUX CORD. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS MY PHONE THEN I LOOKED UP AND SEEN THAT MY TOUCH SCREEN WAS BLACK.... THEN I JUST THOUGHT IT WAS TURNED OFF SO I TIRED PUSHING THE POWER BUTTON... NOTHING. SO ON THE WAY HOME MY BOYFRIEND LOOKED UP THE FUSES GOT THE CHART, AND WE PULLED IT OUT AND IT WAS PERFECT NO NOTHING. THEN I IMMEDIATELY GOT ON THE INTERNET AND STARTED READING. NO ONLY DID I FIND THAT SIMILAR MODELS AND PREVIOUS YEARS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT IN A FEW MONTHS IT LEADS TO DEAD BATTERIES, AND THE POSSIBLY THAT'S YOUR CAR IS NOT RELIABLE AND IT SHOULD BE WITH AN EASY FIX. I ALSO FOUND THAT THE TYPE OF RADIO IS VERY HARD TO FIND, I COULDN'T FIND IT IN VW PARTS AND REPLACEMENTS, BUT INSTEAD FINDING EARLIER, AND MORE UPDATE VERSIONS!

1) SEATBELT INDICATOR SOUNDS WHEN DRIVES BELT IS CONNECTED AND IS THE ONLY ONE IN THE VEHICLE; NO ONE OR ITEMS ARE IN ANY OF THE OTHER SEATS (SAME ISSUE AS IN THE 2006 JETTA). 2) WIPER MOTOR FAILED - WIPERS WORKED INTERMITTENTLY WHEN FUNCTIONING. 3) HEADLINER IS SEPARATING AND DROOPING IN REAR AND OBSTRUCTING THE VIEW THROUGH THE REAR VIEW MIRROR (SAME ISSUE AS IN THE 2006 JETTA). 4) IGNITION COIL'S AND MAP SENSOR ARE CONTINUOUSLY FAILING (SAME ISSUE AS IN THE 2006 JETTA).
AT 22,591 MILES, I DISCOVERED THE DRIVER AIRBAG, AUDIO CONTROLS, HORN, OTHER ELECTRONICS ON STEERING WHEEL FAILED BECAUSE OF FAULTY CLOCK SPRING. THERE IS A RECALL NOTICE FOR MULTIPLE VW MODELS INCLUDING MY MODEL AND YEAR, BUT THE DEALER AND VW CORPORATE TOLD ME MY VEHICLE'S VIN DOESN'T QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL. SEARCHED ONLINE AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS OWNERS OF 2011 AND UP EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. CURRENTLY, MY VEHICLE HAS 76,000 MILES.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL UNDER THE VIN. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 210,000.
THE CLOCK SPRING GOT DEBRIS IN IT, PUSHING THE RIBBON OFF THE GUIDE WIRES AND CAUSING A KINK. THIS CAUSES A FAULT IN THE AIRBAG CONTROLS AS THERE IS UNRELIABLE CONNECTIVITY WITH THE COMPUTER. THUS, THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG WITHIN THE STEERING COLUMN TURNS ITSELF OFF. VW VOLUNTARILY RECALLED 420,000 CARS FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM, INCLUDING SOME VEHICLES WITHIN OUR SAME YEAR AND MODEL. FROM VW'S RECALL NOTICE: ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, THE STEERING WHEEL CLOCK SPRING COULD BECOME CONTAMINATED WITH LONG HAIR OR LONG FIBERS WHICH MAY CAUSE A DISPLACEMENT OF THE INTERNAL GUIDE LOOPS. WHEN THE GUIDE LOOPS ARE DRAGGED OUT OF POSITION, THEY MAY APPLY TENSION TO THE INTERNAL FLAT CABLE AND CAUSE IT TO TEAR. SHOULD THE CABLE TEAR, THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO THE DRIVER'S FRONT AIRBAG MAY BE LOST, CAUSING THE AIRBAG MONITORING INDICATOR LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. IN A CRASH THAT WARRANTS A DRIVER FRONT AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT, THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY, LEADING TO A RISK OF DRIVER INJURY. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR VEHICLE, VERBATIM. OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE AFFECTED RECALL. I WAS TOLD BY A VW TECH THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL BECAUSE THE PART INCLUDES A COMPUTER MODULE FOR THE HIGHLINE DISPLAY. THIS CONTROLS ALL STEERING COLUMN-MOUNTED BUTTONS (RADIO, ETC), AND MUST BE MANUALLY REPROGRAMMED FOR EACH MODEL IT'S INSTALLED IN. THE PART COST INCREASES FROM $115 TO $375 AND THE LABOR FOR INSTALLATION INCREASES FROM $100 TO OVER $400. SO BY NOT REPLACING THE HIGHLINE MODULES, VW WILL SAVE SEVERAL MILLION DOLLARS. MEANWHILE, PEOPLE ARE RIDING AROUND WITHOUT FUNCTIONING AIRBAGS BECAUSE VW CAN'T DESIGN A STEERING COLUMN THAT KEEPS LONG HAIR FROM GETTING TANGLED IN THEIR CLOCK SPRINGS. THE DESIGN FLAW ISN'T IN THE CLOCK SPRING ITSELF BUT IN THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY THAT CAN'T BLOCK DEBRIS FROM GETTING DOWN INTO THE CLOCK SPRINGS TO BEGIN WITH.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT WENT ON WITH THE CAR BEING IN ANY TYPE OF ACCIDENT. THERE WAS RECALL FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL AND YEAR FOR MY CAR. HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER DECIDED THAT MY PARTICULAR CAR WAS NOT TO BE INCLUDED FOR THE RECALL.

I HAVE DISCOVERED MANY CASES ONLINE WHERE OWNERS EXPERIENCE SAME SAFETY CONCERN. I CALLED VW AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX NOR DO THEY CONFESS A SAFETY CONCERN EVEN WITH OBVIOUS MULTIPLE JETT'S OF SAME YEAR HAVING THE EXACT SAFETY ISSUE. WILL IT TAKE A FEW DOZEN ROAD SIDE DEATHS FOR VW TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIX THESE SAFETY ISSUES? HORN FAILS WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION OR STATIONARY. NO BLOWN FUSES, AND THE RELAY CLICKS WHEN THE HORN IS DEPRESSED ON THE STEERING WHEEL. WE'VE CALLED 2 VW DEALERS WHO REFUSED TO FIX BUT THEY OFFERED TO CHARGE US TO TELL US WHAT WE ALREADY KNOW BEING ITS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. WE ALSO CALLED VW CUSTOMER SERVICE ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THEY WOULDN'T TELL ME HOW MANY OWNERS HAVE TO DRIVE UNSAFE VEHICLES BEFORE VW ACTS. SOME OWNERS HAD THEIR JETT'S WITH THE SAME PROBLEM FIXED UNDER NTHSA 11V19600 BUT WE WERE REFUSED ASSISTANCE SO THIS SEEMS TO BE SELECTIVE SAFETY CORRECTIONS.
