2013 VW PASSAT TDI SEL THE CHECK LEFT LOW BEAM LIGHT RADOMLY WOULD COME ON THEN GO OFF. THEN IT STAYED ON, LEFT LOW BEAM WAS NO LONGER WORKING. LIGHT WAS REPLACED BUT DID NOT WORK. BULB DID WORK IN RIGHT SIDE. WHEN INSPECTED MODULE THAT BULB WAS INSERTED INTO, NOTICED A MELTED AREA. CHECKED INTERNET AND DISCOVERED A RECALL FOR LEFT LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT FOR 2012-2013 PASSATS DUE TO THIS SAME ISSUE. CALLED LOCAL DEALERSHIP, EXPLAINED ISSUE, SAID THEY WOULD CHECK AND NEVER GOT BACK TO ME. CALLED VW EXPLAINED THE ISSUE, WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAVE TO LEGAL OBLIGATION TO FIX IT AS MY CAR IS NOT INVOLVED IN RECALL DESPITE THE SAME ISSUE. TOLD ME THAT NHSTA WOULD NOT LET THEM FIX IT. THE RECALL FIX INVOLVES REPLACING A SMALL SECTION OF WIRING AND THE MODULE THAT BULB IS INSERTED INTO.
LEFT FRONT LOWBEAM WENT OUT, REPLACED BULB BUT STILL COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. CONTACTED VW AND MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF ORIGINAL RECALL , HOWEVER MY VW DEALER HAS SAID HUNDREDS OF THIS MAKE AND MODEL NOT COVERED UNDER ORIGINAL RECALL HAVE HAD SAME ISSUE.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR HAS BEEN HAVING THE ISSUE WHERE IT FIRST WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. THEN AFTER A FEW WEEKS IT STARTED TO NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. EVENTUALLY IT GOT TO THE POINT WHERE IT WILL NOT EVEN LATCH SO IT'S VERY MUCH A SAFETY HAZARD. NOTHING HAS CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN TO THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ONLINE IN REFERENCE TO THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN A WRECK AND ONLY HAS 50K MILES ON IT.
CURRENTLY, I HAVE A FAILING (CLICKING NOISE WHILE TURNING) CLOCK SPRING MY 2013 PASSAT TDI THAT WENT IN FOR THE CLOCKSPRING COVER RECALL IN 2016 AND ALSO THE AIRBAG RECALL IN 8/2017 AND HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS A "FAILING CLOCKSPRING" 11/24/2017, PUT IN FOR GOODWILL REPAIR TO VW CORPORATE AND WAS IMMEDIATELY REJECTED AND THE DEALER CHARGES OVER $700 FOR REPLACEMENT. SERVICE TECH SAID SINCE I AM A LOYAL CUSTOMER OF A HEAVILY RECALLED TDI MODEL, THEY COULD REPAIR IT FOR $550 (12/10/2017). THIS IS DISAPPOINTING...I AM WAITING FOR IT TO FAIL COMPLETELY BEFORE I CHART MY NEXT COURSE OF ACTION.
IN OCTOBER 2017 I PURCHASED A PASSAT TDI FROM ARMSTRONG VOLKSWAGEN IN GLADSTONE OREGON. I THEN FOUND OUT ABOUT THE CLOCK SPRING RECALL. WITHIN A MONTH OF OWNING THE VEHICLE, MY ENTIRE STEERING WHEEL COMPONENTS STOPPED WORKING AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. WHILE DRIVING, MY AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINS ON, NONE OF MY STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS WORK, WHEN I TURN MY STEERING WHEEL IT ALMOST MAKES A CRUNCHY NOISE BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL, AND I AM CONCERNED FOR MINE AND MY FAMILIES SAFETY WHILE DRIVING MY CAR. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER WHO INFORMED ME THAT THEY PERSONALLY REPLACED THE CLOCK SPRING IN JANUARY 2016. I ASKED THEM IF THEY WOULD PLEASE RE-FIX IT, AS THE FIRST FIX DID NOT WORK, AND THE CLOCK SPRING WAS ALREADY BAD AGAIN, LESS THAN 2 YEARS LATER. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD DONE WHAT WAS LEGALLY REQUIRED OF THEM, AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE FIXING MY CAR. I THEN ASKED TO SPEAK TO THE GENERAL MANAGER, WHOM I LEFT A VOICEMAIL FOR, TO SEE IF HE COULD HELP. HE HAS YET TO CALL ME BACK, TWO WEEKS LATER.

AS I WAS DRIVING I STARTED TO NOTICE A RUSTLING SOUND WHENEVER I WOULD TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER MY DASH LIGHT STATING THAT THERE WAS AN AIRBAG ERROR CAME ON FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG. THE HORN AND THE OTHER CONTROL BUTTONS IN THE STEERING COLUMN CEASED WORKING AS WELL.
HAIR OR OTHER FIBERS MAY CONTAMINATE THE AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING (A SPIRAL WOUND, FLAT CABLE THAT KEEPS THE AIRBAG POWERED WHILE THE STEERING WHEEL IS BEING TURNED). THIS CONTAMINATION MAY TEAR THE CABLE AND RESULT IN A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO THE DRIVER'S FRONTAL AIRBAG. A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO THE DRIVER'S FRONTAL AIRBAG WILL PREVENT THE AIRBAG FROM DEPLOYING IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY.

PASSAT SEL YEAR 2013 2.5 GAS ENGINE. O9G TRANSMISSION HARD SHIFTING CLUNKY SLIPPING VERY UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE ESPECIALLY ON TRAFFIC STOP AND GO JERKY TRANSMISSION IT HAPPENED FOR VERY LONG TIME OIL AND FILTER WAS DONE STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE
PERIODICALLY WHILE DRIVING, THE SEAT BELT LIGHT WILL COME ON, THE THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT WILL LOSE TENSION. THE PUSH START BUTTON HAS BE PRESSED MULTIPLE TIMES IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO START. I RECEIVE THE ERROR MESSAGE ON THE DASH, "KEY NOT IN RANGE" WHEN THE KEY FOB IS ON MY PERSON. THE BUILT-IN TRACTION DOES NOT HANDLE WELL, BECAUSE THE WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION IS NOT 50/50. THERE IS ENTIRELY TOO MUCH BODY ROLL FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE 2013 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT 3.6 SEL SHOULD HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED AS AN ALL-WHEEL DRIVE, AND A HARD BODY. THE TRANSMISSION IS SLUGGISH BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEARS. I USED TO OWN A 2005 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT GLX V6 4MOTION, AND IT WAS A MUCH BETTER BUILD QUALITY THAN THE 2013 PASSAT. THE QUALITY OF VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT IS IN MAJOR DECLINE, AND IS NOT THE SAME AS IT WAS IN THE EARLY 2000S.
I BROUGHT MY CAR A YEAR AGO TO CENTRAL AUTO GROUP IN PLAINFIELD, CT FOR A LOW BEAM LIGHT OUT ON MY CAR. I REPLACED THE BULB AND IT STILL DIDN'T WORK. THE WARNING LIGHT WAS ON ALSO. THEY CLEANED AND LOOKED FOR RECALL ON THE CAR BUT DIDN'T FIND ONE. THEY SAID BULB WAS FINE. I WAS TOLD NOT TO SLAM HOOD AND BE CAREFUL. EVERYTHING FOR RECALL 14V125000 APPLES TO MY CAR BUT IT IS NOT ON LIST. I STILL HAVE THE CAR WAREHOUSE OF WHEN IT WAS MADE IN 2012. WHY IS MY CAR NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE LIGHT HOLDER? THIS IS NOT RIGHT. THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. MY SON DRIVES THIS CAR. I WOULD LIKE ASSISTANCE. MY LOW BEAM LIGHT IS OUT AGAIN. PRIMEWELL VALERA TOURING II 215/55R 17 TIRES. THE TIRES AFTER 5000 MILES HAVE DEVELOPED A ROARING SOUND AND THE SIDEWALLS ARE CRACKED. THE ROARING HAS BECOME SO LOUD I HAD THE WHEEL BEARINGS REPLACED BECAUSE OF THE NOISE. THE NOISE IS IN FACT COMING FROM THE TIRES. THE TIRES WERE BOUGHT BY THE DEALER WE PURCHASED THE CAR FROM. IN FACT, IT WAS PART OF THE DEAL THAT THE CAR HAD NEW TIRES PUT ON. BECAUSE OF THIS FACT, THE TIRES ARE NOT UNDER WARRANTY. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL FIRESTONE DEALER, THEY HAVE PRIMEWELL TIRES MADE EXCLUSIVELY FOR THEM. THE DEALER WAS NICE ENOUGH AND TOLD ME ABOUT THE RECALL FOR THE TIRES, BUT MY SPECIFIC SIZE WAS NOT LISTED UNDER THE RECALL. THE NEXT SIZE UP AND DOWN WERE LISTED, BUT NOT OUR SPECIFIC SIZE. HE DID OFFER A DISCOUNT ON A NEW SET OF TIRES THOUGH. HE HONESTLY TRIED TO HELP US OUT. BEFORE I SPENT AN ADDITIONAL $500 PLUS DOLLARS I CALLED FIRESTONE CORPORATE. AFTER STATING MY CASE, HE SAID THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HE COULD DO. I ASKED HIM IF HE WOULD LET HIS WIFE DRIVE A CAR WITH CRACKED SIDEWALL TIRES, HE COMMENTED IF IT WAS HIS CAR, HE WOULD GET THEM REPLACED, BUT HE OFFERED ABSOLUTELY NO HELP TO DO SO AND WAS UNAPOLOGETIC TO SAY THE LEAST. I EXPECT MORE FROM FIRESTONE / BRIDGESTONE. YOU WOULD THINK AFTER ALL THE BAD PRESS FROM THE FORD EXPLORER TIRE INCIDENT THEY WOULD BACK THERE PRODUCTS UP BETTER, OR AT LEAST OFFER A PRODUCT THAT LASTS LONGER THAN 5000 MILES. PLEASE BE AWARE BEFORE BUYING THERE PRODUCTS, I KNOW I NEVER WILL AGAIN!
HEATER CORE: HEATER CORE BECOME CLOGGED EVEN WITH REGULAR FLUSHES. ON 3RD HEATER CORE IN LESS THAN 4 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. VW'S REPLACEMENT PROGRAM DOES NOT RESTART AFTER NEW HEATER CORE IS INSTALLED, BUT AT PURCHASE OF VEHICLE. VERY DISINGENUOUS. CAR ENGINE AREA STARTS TO OVER HEAT WITHOUT PROPER FLUENT CIRCULATION.
I'VE HAD MY 2013 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT 3.6 SEL PREMIUM SINCE 6/2017, AND I HAVE BOUGHT 2 SETS OF VW WHEEL CENTER CAPS, BECAUSE THEY KEEP FAILING OFF. IT'S QUITE OBVIOUS THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT WITH VOLKSWAGEN. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE VEHICLE, AND VOLKSWAGEN SHOULD DO A BETTER JOB AT ENGINEERING PARTS THAT DON'T FALL OFF OF THE CAR. THESE WHEEL CAPS ARE ROUGHLY $26 AT VOLKSWAGEN BEFORE TAX.
I RECEIVED A WRITTEN NOTIFICATION THAT MY CAR WAS COVERED UNDER A RECALL FOR THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG. WHEN I TRIED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH PRIORITY VOLKSWAGEN CHESTER VA. THEY REFUSED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO FIX THE CAR STATING THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND THEY WOULD NOT MAKE AN APPOINTMENT OR TELL ME WHEN THE PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE WRITTEN NOTICE SAYS TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIR IMMEDIATELY AND I AM TRYING TO DO THIS BUT THE DEALER REFUSES TO ASSIST. I TRIED TO CONTACT VOLKSWGEN DIRECTLY BUT GOT A RECORDING STATING THAT DUE TO HIGH CALL VOLUMES I SHOULD GO TO THEIR WEB SITE. WHAT A CROCK. SO WHO IS RESPONSIBLE IF THE AIRBAG INJURES OR KILLS SOMEONE WHEN THERE IS AN ACTIVE SAFETY RECALL AND THE MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO EVEN SCHEDULE THE REPAIR? HOW DO YOU SUGGEST I PROCEED FROM HERE.
WHEN I STARTED TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL A FEW DAYS AGO I WOULD HEAR SOMETHING KINDA TICKING LIKE SOMETHING WAS CAUGHT BETWEEN THE STEERING AND COLUMN SECTION. TODAY AFTER I STARTED MY CAR AND THE STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG CAME AND HAS STAYED ON. THUS MY HORN AND BUTTONS TO CONTROL MY INSTRUMENT PANEL NO LONGER WORK.

I HAVE HAD 2 RECALLS. I LIVE ON AN OUTER ISLAND IN HAWAII. IN ORDER TO GET A REPAIR I AM BEING TOLD I WILL HAVE TO SHIP, VIA OCEAN BARGE, MY CAR TO OAHU.. I THINK IF VW SELLS TO OUTER ISLANDS THEY AT LEAST NEED TO HAVE AN AUTHORIZED SERVICE REP ON THAT ISLAND. I AM NOT ABLE TO AFFORD TO SHIP A CAR TO OAHU FROM KAUAI AND BACK. WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR THE SHIPPING TO MY ISLAND WAS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE. PLEASE ADVISE
BECAUSE THE VEHICLE ALSO WAS TDI, VW BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK FROM ME ON 21 DECEMBER 2016, I.E., I NO LONGER OWN THE VEHICLE. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE THIS CAR A FEW MONTHS AGO AND FILLED OUT THE FORM TELLING ADDRESSEE (VW) THAT THEY HAD BOUGHT MY VEHICLE AND I SHOULD NOT RECEIVE ANY MORE NOTICES. I CALLED VW THIS MORNING (28 JULY 2017) TO GET THEM TO STOP SENDING ME RECALL NOTICES. THEY TOLD ME THEY DID NOT SEND IT YOU DID. THEY SUGGESTED THAT I CONTACT THE FLORIDA DMV, BUT THAT IS MORE THAN USELESS: THEY DO NOT SEND THE NOTICES AND KNOW THAT I KNOW LONGER OWN THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION. SINCE VW WAS KIND ENOUGH TO SELL ME A REPLACEMENT VW PASSAT FOR LESS MONEY THAN THEY PAID ME FOR THE 2013 PASSAT, I BOUGHT IT. SO, WHEN I GET A VW RECALL NOTICE I THINK IT IS FOR THE NEW ONE NOT THE OLD ONE. THIS IS VERY UNPLEASANT, SINCE WE WERE ON PINS AND NEEDLES FROM SEPTEMBER 2015 UNTIL DECEMBER 2016 WONDERING IF THE AIR BAG WAS GOING TO BLOW UP IN OUR FACES. CAN YOU FIND A WAY TO STOP SENDING ME RECALL NOTICES FOR THIS VEHICLE, PLEASE? IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED GREATLY. DASHBOARD DISPLAYED ERROR TO CHECK RIGHT LOW BEAM. PURCHASED REPLACEMENT BULB. INSTALLED BULB AND PROBLEM PERSISTED. DID ONLINE SEARCHES AND FOUND A RECALL FOR A "150,201 2012-'13 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT SEDANS BECAUSE A LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHT BULB COULD LOSE ELECTRICAL CONTACT, LEADING TO REDUCED VISIBILITY". I SWAPPED THE WORKING SOCKET/BULB COMBO FROM THE LEFT AND IT WORKED IN THE RIGHT HAND HOUSING. I FOUND THE PART NUMBER FOR THE REPLACEMENT SOCKET, AND BOUGHT IT AT LOCAL DEALER. THE PART APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN REDESIGNED. INSTALLED WITH THE ORIGINAL BULB AND IT WORKED FINE. THE OLD SOCKET HAS ONE TERMINAL THAT HAS MELTED PLASTIC AROUND IT. I CALLED VW CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY CLAIMED MY CAR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER A RECALL FOR THIS CONDITION AND THEY REFUSED REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE PART.
TAKATA RECALL. THE DEALER REFUSES TO REPAIR MY RECALLED AIRBAGS EVEN AFTER 2 YEARS OF CONCERN. I HAVE ASKED SINCE NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL FOR THE AIRBAGS TO BE FIXED AND ALWAYS GET THE SAME AANSWER THAT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. I CAN NOT DRIVE THE CAR DUE TO THE SAFETY AND CAN NOT SELL THE CAR BECAUSE THERE IS AN OUTSTANDING RECALL. WHAT CAN BE DONE?
THE REPAIRED CLOCK SPRING FAILED AGAIN PER DEALER. SO THE AIR BAG DOESN'T WORK AND NEITHER DOES THE HORN OR ANY OTHER STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS. SHE WAS DRIVING AND TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL AND HEARD A POP !
WHILE TRAVELING AT FULL SPEED, THE DIESEL ENGINE STUMBLED, THE GLOW PLUG LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THEN BOGGED TO A STOP ALONG THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN TRAFFIC. TOWED TO DEALER WHO SAID ALL DIESEL COMPONENTS EXCEPT THE FUEL TANK INCLUDING ALL THE HOSES AND TUBING WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILED SENT METAL SHAVINGS THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM. CAR HAS 98K MILES AND HAS NOT YET HAD ANY DIESEL FIX INSTALLED AS PART OF THE DIESEL SCANDAL. WAS GOING TO HOLD ONTO CAR FOR A SHORT TIME LONGER THEN SELL BACK TO VW. BOY, WHAT A COSTLY MISTAKE BECAUSE THE CAR MUST BE RUNNING TO RETURN IT. NOT HAPPY WITH VW FOR THIS AND A HANDFUL OF OTHER SERIOUS FAILURES AND ILLEGAL (AND QUITE FRANKLY, SHOCKINGLY BRAZEN) BEHAVIORS THIS COMPANY HAS DEMONSTRATED. MY ADVICE IF YOU STILL HAVE A TDI, DON'T WAIT, TURN IT IN NOW. MY ADVICE FOR FUTURE VAG (VW/AUDI/PORSCHE) BUYERS, THESE VEHICLES ARE NOT WELL DESIGNED FOR RELIABILITY AND ARE VERY EXPENSIVE TO MAINTAIN. FURTHERMORE, VAG HAS PROVEN ITSELF TO PUT PROFITS ABOVE ALL ELSE INCLUDING YOUR SAFETY AND WITH COMPLYING WITH LAWS. CAR OVERHEATED ON DRIVE HOME. ONCE ENGINE COOLED I INSPECTED THE COOLANT AND NOTICED THAT IT WAS ORANGE OR RUST COLORED AND MILKY/NOT CLEAR. IT SHOULD BE PINK AND CLEAR. AFTER READING ABOUT VW'S HEATER CORE WARRANTY EXTENSION ON CERTAIN YEARS AND VIN'S I DETERMINED TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUES LISTED. MY HEATER CORE WAS NOT FULLY BLOCKED BUT I DID HAVE DIFFERENCES IN TEMPERATURES FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGERS SIDE. I OWN A 2013 VW PASSAT DIESEL WHICH HAS A BAD NITROGEN OXIDE SENSOR AT 47,300 MILES. I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS PART IS NOT COVERED UNDER EMISSIONS WARRANTY AND MANY OTHER VW CAR OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED FAILURES WITH THIS SAME SENSOR. WITH ALL THE CURRENT EXISTING DIESEL EMISSION PROBLEMS AND FINES, YOU WOULD THINK THAT THIS CRITICAL SENSOR WOULD BE PART OF THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY.
