TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE INJURIES SUSTAINED TO THE CONTACT'S NECK, SHOULDERS, AND BACK. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND WAS NOT DETERMINED WHETHER IT WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 83,000.
REDUCTIVE AGENT HEATING ELEMENT AND/OR LEVEL SENSOR FAILED. CAR HAS LESS THAN 32,000 MILES ON IT. THE REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER OUR CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED WARRANTY, BUT I SEE THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PART FAILURE, SO I WANT TO REPORT IT.
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2013 VW PASSAT TDI. MY CAR HAS ABOUT 35000 MILES AND HAS BEEN OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD FOR ABOUT 4 MONTHS. A FEW WEEKS BACK I NOTICED THE ENGINE LIGHT OF THE VEHICLE COMES ON AND OFF, AND LAST WEEK I TOOK THE CAR TO THE VW DEALER FOR A SERVICE WHERE I WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT THE AD BLUE HEATER COMPONENT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE COST INCLUDING THE PARTS AND LABOR WOULD BE AROUND A $1000.00 I THEN DID SOME RESEARCH AND LEARNED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE VW TDI MODELS WHERE THE SAME COMPONENT GOES BAD AROUND 40000 MILES OR 4 YEARS. I CALLED THE VW CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXPLAINED THE ISSUE I WAS FACING AND SOUGHT HELP TO REPLACE THE PART, AND I WAS TOLD BY THE VW CUSTOMER SERVICE SINCE THE CAR WAS OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD, VW WILL NOT HELP AND I HAD TO PAY THE EXPENSE OUT OF POCKET. THIS IS YET ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE VW TDI MODEL ON TOP OF ALL OTHER SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT ISSUES THESE MODELS HAVE AND VW REFUSES TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE PROBLEM. THE VOLKSWAGEN EMISSIONS SCANDAL AND ALL OTHER SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES ARE BAD ENOUGH, AND NOW VW IS NOT TAKING OWNERSHIP OF THE WEAK COMPONENTS USED IN THE TDI MODELS AND EXPECT THE CONSUMER TO TAKE THE HEAVY BURDEN OF PAYING TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS. I FEEL THE GOVERNMENT AGENCIES NEED TO STEP IN AND HELP THE CONSUMER AGAINST COMPANIES LIKE THIS AND FORCE THEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. WHILE PROCEEDING TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND SCRAP METAL PASSED THROUGH THE REAR DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED SEVERE INJURIES TO THE HAND AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED A BROKEN RIB. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V078000 (AIR BAGS). THE PARTS TO REMEDY THE VEHICLE WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 27,000. ....UPDATED 01/11/2017*CT CONSUMER STATED AIRBAG RECALL REPLACEMENT COULD NOT BE COMPLETED-PART NOT AVAILABLE- DEALER INSTALLED "CLOCK SPRING" AS TEMPORARY FIX UNTIL NEW AIRBAG AVAILABLE- RECALL SPRING OF 2016- PART NEVER MADE AVAILABLE. VW ENGINEERS WOULD EXAMINE THE CAR AT THE SALVAGE SITE, ENGINEERS DETERMINED CONSUMER FOOT WAS ON THE GAS, NOT BRAKE PEDAL AND THERE WERE NO TEARS IN THE AIRBAG AND THEREFORE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR MECHANICAL FAILURES OR PERSONAL INJURIES. CONSUMER STATED FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND NOT GAS PEDAL. UPDATED 66/22/18*JB
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 16V078000 (AIR BAGS) AND 15V483000 (AIR BAGS). THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIRS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
VW PASSAT TDI 2013: CURRENTLY HAS A TAD UNDER 64,000 MILES. DRIVING THE CAR AND THE CAR MAKES AWFUL NOISE AND SHUTS OFF. THE CAR GETS TOWED TO THE VW DEALERSHIP AND I AM INFORMED THAT IT IS THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AND THE REPAIR IS BETWEEN $5000-$6000. THE DEALERSHIP CHECKED THE FUEL AND VERIFIED THAT I HAD APPROPRIATE DIESEL IN THE CAR AND MENTIONED THAT VW HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE DIESEL FUEL "SOLD IN THE US" AND IT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THE CAR IS JUST OVER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY AND IT IS ONE OF THE CARS IN THE BUYBACK SETTLEMENT. WHEN I INQUIRED, THEY SAID MY BUYBACK FEE WOULD BE SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED IF I DO NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR AS THEY WILL TAKE IT OUT OF THE SETTLEMENT OFFER. INVESTIGATING A BIT FURTHER, THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT THEY HAD WITH PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS, AND IS ALSO SOMETHING THAT APPEARS TO BE HAPPENING WITH OTHER OWNERS OF 2013 TDI'S. I AM LEFT WITH A CAR THAT DOES NOT WORK TO DUE MANUFACTURE DEFECT. I AM LEFT WITH A CAR THAT THEY CLAIM THEY WILL PAY LESS FOR AT THE BUYBACK BECAUSE THE CAR IS NOT RUNNING, EVEN THOUGH IT IS DUE TO THEIR DEFECT. IN SHORT, I HAVE A CAR THAT DOES NOT WORK, THAT IS PART OF A MAJOR US GOVERNMENT LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT, AND THAT REQUIRES $6,000 TO REPAIR BECAUSE A PART THEY PLACED ON THE CAR SENT METAL SHARDS THROUGH THE FUEL SYSTEM. AS A CONSUMER, I AM LEFT HELPLESS. I BOUGHT A CAR BELIEVING THE COMPANY TO BE HONEST, THEY WERE NOT. NOW THEY WILL NOT EVEN STAND BEHIND THEIR FAULTY MANUFACTURING DEFECTS.
156 MILES INTO A 200 MILE TRIP THE VEHICLE LOST POWER CLIMBING A GRADE ON A HIGHWAY. AT FIRST IT FELT LIKE THE ROAD WAS WASHBOARDED BUT AFTER CHANGING LANES THE 'WASHBOARD' FEELING REMAINED AND I THOUGHT IT WAS A FLAT TIRE. WITHIN A FEW SECONDS OF CHANGING LANES THE VEHICLE LOST POWER - 60MPH TO 30MPH IN A SECOND. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD, VEHICLE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT HAD VERY LITTLE POWER TO MOVE FORWARD. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO NEAREST VW DEALERSHIP. WAS INFORMED THE HPFP HAD FAILED DUE TO METAL SHAVING IN THE SYSTEM. PUMP, RAILS AND INJECTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. VEHICLE HAS 110K MILES ON IT. AT 80K I HAD ONE OF THE INJECTORS REPLACED AT A VW DEALERSHIP - CAR WAS HAVING SYMPTOMS OF POWER LAG AND INTERMITTENT 'WASHBOARD ROAD' FEELING WHEN ACCELERATING. WAS TOLD AT THAT TIME THE INJECTOR 'JUST WENT BAD, HAPPENS SOMETIMES' - NOW I AM SURE THE SYSTEM WAS GOING BAD AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED BEFORE IT BECAME CATASTROPHIC. NOT COVERED BY VW, $5K REPAIR.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT / MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP CAME ON IN CAR. I WAS ABOUT 1 MILE INTO MY COMMUTE TO WORK DRIVING AROUND 50MPH.TOOK TO VOLKSWAGEN DEALER AND CAR HAD P203B, REDUCTANT LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT WHICH WAS A DAMAGED AD BLUE SENSOR. MECHANIC AND SALES ADVISOR MENTIONED THAT THIS PART IS CRITICAL AND THE CAR WILL SHUT OFF AND NOT START UNTIL REPLACED. I WAS FORCED TO FIX OR BE LEFT WITH A NON-RUNNING CAR. SALES ADVISOR MENTIONED THAT THIS PART HAS BEEN UPDATED AND FIXED BY VOLKSWAGEN AND THAT THE NEW PART WILL NOT MALFUNCTION FOR NEWER CARS. I'M NOT SURE IF THE CAR WOULD SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION OR ON THE INTERSTATE, BUT IT COULD BE A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. I FEEL THIS PART SHOULD BE RECALLED AND PEOPLE WHO PAID TO HAVE THIS FIXED BE RE-REIMBURSED. I FEEL SCREWED TO HAVE A NON-SELLABLE DIESEL VEHICLE AND THEN GET HIT WITH ANOTHER $1175 PART FOR A DEVICE THAT IS SUPPOSED TO CLEAN UP DIESEL EXHAUST EMISSIONS.
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN THE CEL CAME ON. I HAD IT SCANNED A FEW DAYS LATER AND FOUND THAT THE ISSUE WAS RELATED TO THE ADBLUE HEATER. VEHICLE PERFORMANCE WAS NOT AFFECTED DURING DRIVING. AFTER SOME INTERNET RESEARCH IT WAS FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN CERTAIN MODEL YEARS OF THIS VEHICLE. AS IT IS, IF THE FLUID IN THIS SYSTEM GETS TOO COLD IT COULD FREEZE AND CAUSE THE EMISSION SYSTEM TO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AND EVENTUALLY DISABLE THE VEHICLE ALTOGETHER.
TAKATA RECALL- I HAVE CONTACTED VOLKSWAGEN ABOUT THIS RECALL AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO REMEDY, BUT MY LIFE MEANS MUCH MORE TO ME THAN A DELAYED REMEDY OF A LIFE THREATENING FACTOR. WHEN I AGREED TO DRIVE MY CAR IT WAS FOUND SAFE TO DRIVE, BUT I OR ANYONE CAN SAY THAT ANYMORE. I'D LIKE TO TAKE MY CAR TO A DEALERSHIP AND TRADE WITH A SAFE VEHICLE WHERE ME AND MY FAMILY CAN RIDE. PLEASE HELP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING MORE THAN 10 MPH, THE DOORS LOCKED INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE WAS PERSISTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THAT FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,000.
TURBO CHARGER FAILED IN 2013 TDI PASSAT 2ND TIME. OCCURED WHILE DRIVING DOWN A 45 MPH ROAD. DID NOT LOSE FULL POWER BUT DID LOSE ABILITY TO MAINTAIN SPEED AND GLOW PLUG LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING. FIRST ONE FAILED AND REPLACED AT 79,000 MILES AND 2ND TURBO FAILING AT 145,000 MILES ROUGHLY 60,000 MILES ON THIS TURBO. THESE ARE FLAWED PARTS THAT ARE VERY EXPENSIVE AND SHOULD WORK FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. NO SUPPORT FROM VW FOR A PART THAT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
CEL CAME ON, CODE FOR FOR FAILING REDUCTANT LEVEL SENSOR P203B IMPLAUSABLE SIGNAL. CAR HAS 66,000 MILES, CARED FOR TO THE LETTER. VW WANTS OVER A $1000.00 TO REPAIR. THIS IS AN EXTREAMLY COMMON FAILURE NOT POSSIBLE OFR THE OWNER TO INDUCE...
I PURCHASED THIS CAR USED IN APRIL 2016. IN JANUARY 2016, AS PART OF THE STEERING WHEEL CLOCK SPRING RECALL, A COVER WAS PLACED OVER THE CLOCK SPRING TO PREVENT THE CABLE FROM TEARING (SEE HTTP://MEDIA.VW.COM/RELEASE/1042/). LESS THAN A YEAR AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR, THE CLOCK SPRING TORE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN MY VEHICLE. THE "FIX" FAILED TO PREVENT THE KNOWN DAMAGE FROM OCCURRING. WHEN I CONTACTED VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER CARE, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CLOCK SPRING, AS THE ONE-YEAR PARTS WARRANTY ONLY APPLIED TO THE COVER THAT WAS ADDED TO PROTECT THE CLOCK SPRING, AND NOT THE CLOCK SPRING ITSELF, AS THE CLOCK SPRING WAS DEEMED TO BE IN WORKING ORDER AT THE TIME THE COVER WAS ADDED. VOLKSWAGEN REFUSED TO COVER THIS $765.00 REPAIR , EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE WELL AWARE OF THE RECALL PROBLEM. I SUSPECT THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCING SIMILAR PRODUCT FAILURE, AND VOLKSWAGEN SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THE CLOCK SPRING IN INSTANCES WHERE IT FAILS WITHIN A YEAR OF THE SO-CALLED "FIX". I WAS IN THE GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, BACKING OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION (ALBEIT SLOWLY) AT THE TIME. THE CAR HORN NO LONGER FUNCTIONS, WHICH IS MY PRIMARY ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A BODY SHOP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.
ON SEPT 14, 2016, WHILE DRIVING, MY CAR BEGAN LOSING POWER, GLOW-PLUG INDICATOR LIGHT STARTED FLASHING, AND THEN THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STALLED. FROM FIRST SIGN OF TROUBLE TO COMPLETE POWER LOSS WAS LESS THAN 60 SECONDS. SCARY STUFF WHEN YOUR ON THE HIGHWAY. HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE VW DEALER. AFTER I EXPLAINED HOW THE CAR HAD LOST POWER AND SHUT OFF, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SUSPECTED IT WAS A HIGH PRESSURE PUMP FAILURE. THE NEXT DAY, THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS A "HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILURE". BASICALLY THE FUEL PUMP EXPLODED, SENDING METAL FRAGMENTS THROUGH THE ENTIRE FUEL AND FUEL INJECTOR SYSTEMS. NOT GOOD NEWS! THE VW TECH TESTED THE FUEL IN THE TANK AND CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS 100% DIESEL FUEL. THE VW SERVICE ADVISOR INDICATED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE TDI'S SINCE 2009. THE VW TECH INDICATED THAT THE CAR WOULD NEVER RUN AGAIN UNLESS THE WHOLE FUEL SYSTEMS IS REPLACED, AND THE COST FOR THIS WOULD BE AROUND $6,500. VW TECH AND VW CUSTOMER SERVICE INDICATED THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THAT THEY HAVE ADDRESSED THE ISSUE WITH 2009 - 2012 TDI'S BY EXTENDING THE WARRANTY. UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE A 2013 AND HAD NO CLUE THESE PUMPS WERE FAILING ON OLDER MODELS. THIS IS A SERIOUS AND VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE NOT TO MENTION A COSTLY MALFUNCTION THAT CAN AND MOST LIKELY WILL HAPPEN TO OTHER 2013 TDI OWNER'S. I'M GLAD IT WAS NOT MY WIFE WHO WAS DRIVING WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED.
WHILE WAITING FOR THE BUY-BACK THROUGH THE CLASS ACTION FRAUD SETTLEMENT, LAST SATURDAY, SEPT. 10, 2016 MY 2013 PASSAT TDI WITH APPROXIMATELY 70K MILES SHUDDERED AND LOST ALL POWER. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THEN HAD IT TOWED TO THE VW DEALER. THEY HAVE INFORMED ME THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND SPEWED METAL FRAGMENTS THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM. THE REPAIR COST QUOTED IS $6581.44. IT DOES NOT APPEAR THAT I AM THE ONLY PERSON SUFFERING THIS CATASTROPHIC FAILURE AROUND THE 70K MILE MARK. IN FACT, EVEN THE DEALER'S SERVICE MANAGER FOR VACAVILLE VOLKSWAGEN, JENNIFER PIRANI, STATED SHE IS AWARE OF THIS AS A PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL PASSAT AND SHE ALSO OWNS A 2013 PASATT TDI WITH SIMILAR MILEAGE AND IS TRYING NOT TO DRIVE HER'S SO SHE CAN MAKE IT THROUGH THE BUY-BACK. IT WOULD APPEAR THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART WITH A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW CAUSING EXCESSIVE DAMAGE AT A GREAT REPAIR COST.

TAKATA RECALL.... ALL VOLKSWAGEN DEALERS IN HOUSTON AREA SAY THEY DO NOT HAVE A FIX FOR MY AIRBAG. THERE IS NO WAITLIST, NO WAY OF KNOWING WHEN THIS DANGEROUS DEADLY AIRBAG WILL BE REPLACED. 11 PEOPLE HAVE DIED FROM IT ALREADY.

I DON'T FEEL SAFE KNOWING THERE IS A RECALL OF METAL FRAGMENTS THAT CAN COME THROUGH MY AIRBAGS AND THERE'S NO REMEDY WITH THE RECALL STARTING IN FEBRUARY
TAKATA RECALL. THE VEHICLE STILL HAS NO REPAIR AVAILABLE FOR THE AIRBAG ISSUE (TAKATA RECALL). I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS AROUND AND I WORRY EACH DAY I GET IN TO GO TO WORK. HOW CAN VOLKSWAGEN ADVISE CUSTOMER THAT IT IS "OKAY" TO KEEP DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS RECALL IS DEADLY TO THE CONSUMER IF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY. PLEASE HELP. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE IN ORDER TO SOLVE THIS FATAL PROBLEM.
HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILURE, CAR STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY IN ANOTHER STATE. CAR HAS NOT RUN IN OVER A YEAR DUE TO THIS PROBLEM AND THE COST TO FIX IT. THEY MODEL YOUR NEW WERE WITH THE EXACT SAME ENGINE AND PART IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT THIS CAR IS NOT AT A 71,250 MILES
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V078000 (AIR BAGS). THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. 2013 PASSAT TDI WITH 51K MILEAGE, CEL WENT ON A FEW DAYS AGO SO I WAS CONCERNED AND BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER DIAGNOSTICS RUN, I WAS TOLD THE ADBLUE HEADER UNIT HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE I HAD A FAULTY SENSOR. WAS GIVEN ESTIMATE OF $1200 TO FIX. WAS TOLD COST WILL NOT BE COVERED AT ALL. AFTER DOING RESEARCH, IT SEEMS VWS DIESEL CARS ARE ALL EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM, MOSTLY AFTER THE 3/36K WARRANTY PERIOD HAS PASSED AND THEN NOT HELPING OWNERS WITH COST OF THIS DEFECT. GIVEN THAT ALL THESE VEHICLES HAVE A CURRENT BUYBACK OPTION DUE TO DIESELGATE, I AM APPALLED THAT VW IS NOT OFFERING ANY TYPE OF COMPENSATION FOR THIS APPARENT YET NOT DECLARED DEFECT THAT SHOULD REALLY RESULT IN A FULL RECALL. I CONTINUE TO HOPE FOR A POSITIVE RESOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE BUT AM CITING THIS COMPLAINT AS I SEE NUMEROUS SIMILAR VEHICLES EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE AND IT NEEDS BROADER ATTENTION THAN WHAT IT IS GETTING FROM VOLKSWAGEN.

INTERNAL HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILURE. THANKFULLY, MY CAR WAS PARKED AND IDLING AT THE TIME SINCE MY WIFE HAD JUST BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY. I BEGAN TO HEAR A SLIGHT KNOCKING SOUND, THEN A SLIGHT SQUEAL LIKE A BELT MAKES, AND THEN THE CAR SHUT DOWN. IT WOULD TURN OVER, BUT WOULD NOT RESTART. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS AN INTERNAL HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILURE THAT WOULD COST $6200 BECAUSE THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM BASICALLY HAD TO BE REPLACED. APPARENTLY, UPON RESEARCH, THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM SINCE 2009. THIS COULD BE A REAL SAFETY ISSUE PARTICULARLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR AT TIMES WHEN ACCELERATION IS NECESSARY. MY CAR IS THREE (3) YEARS OLD AND HAS 85,000 MILES.

TAKATA RECALL. ON 8/4/16 I WAS INFORMED OF THE AIR BAG RECALL ON MY VEHICLE I AM CURRENTLY LEASING. I NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER INFORMING ME OF THIS ISSUE. ON MY 2013 VW PASSAT TDI, THE GLOW PLUG LIGHT STARTED TO FLASH WHEN DRIVING CAR ON 40MPH ROAD, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER (WENT INTO LIMP MODE), BUT WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME. FAULT CODES PULLED WERE P0087(FUEL RAIL / SYSTEM PRESSURE LOW). LATER DIAGNOSED AS A FAILED HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. AFTER SOME QUICK RESEARCH, I FOUND THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG VW COMMON RAIL TDI ENGINES. (THIS WILL BE A $5000 - $7000 DEALER REPAIR)

I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER WARNING OF SERIOUS INJURY OF DEATH IN APRIL 2016 AND NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN 3 MONTHS LATER.
FUEL PUMP FAILED AT 34,000 MILES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NOW ON PERMANENTLY. INDEPENDENT STATE LICENSE DIESEL SHOP CONFIRMED PUMP BREAKING DOWN AND RELEASING METAL INTO THE FUEL SYSTEM. METAL FROM PUMP HAS DESTROYED FUEL INJECTORS. REPAIRS ESTIMATED AT $6.069. PUMP IS COVERED BY WARRANTY, BUT DEALER ARGUES BAD FUEL CAUSED THE FAILURE. VW DEALER STATES THEY TOOK A SAMPLE OF THE FUEL TO A LAB AND HAD IT TESTED...WHILE THE CAR WAS IN THE SHOP FOR THE DAY. DEALER DOES NOT HAVE A COPY OF LAB REPORT, WHICH INDICATES THEY ARE LYING.

DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID SYSTEM FAILED CAUSING NO START SITUATION. CARS LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD AND IS ALREADY BEING RECALLED FOR EMISSIONS CHEATING. DON'T HAVE THE 1100$ TO SPEND ON A CAR THAT IS BEING BOUGHT BACK IN A COUPLE MONTHS. STUCK AT THE HOUSE LUCKLY OR A TOW WOULD HAVE BEEN NEEDED. ALSO THE DEALER MOST OFTEN CAN USE A VAG-COM SCANNER TO RESET THIS AND THE CAR WILL WORK, BUT THERE JUST TELLING PEOPLE THEY "NEED" THE HEATER AND SOMETIMES I'VE HEARD THE WHOLE TANK WHICH OF COURSE IS A LIE. THE HEATER ISN'T WHAT GOES BAD IT'S A THERMISTOR TYPE SENSOR THAT TELLS THE CAR THE TEMP OF THE FLUID. WHEN THIS FAILS IT GIVES THE COMPUTER BAD INFO AND RESULTS IN A SHUTDOWN OF THE SYSTEM. WHICH CAN BE RESET, AND OFTEN WORKS. I CAN'T AFFORD A VAG-COM SOFTWARE SETUP AT 800$ EITHER SO WE ARE STUCK AND VERY UPSET! VW SLAPPED US IN THE FACE TWICE NOW WITH FAULTY EMMISION COMPONENTS.

I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW FROM MY LOCAL VW DEALER. AT APPROXIMATELY 48,300 MILES - ADBLUE SYSTEM THROWS A CODE. CODE P205C MEANING THE AD BLUE HEATER IS NON FUNCTIONAL. THIS PART IS CONNECTED WITH THE EMISSIONS SINCE IT IS SUPPOSE TO REDUCE THE NOX EMITTED. I FEEL THIS IS CONNECTED WITH THE EMISSION SYSTEM AND SHOULD FALL UNDER THE EMISSION WARRANTY.
AT 61,794 THE AMBLE HEATER FAILED.. IT IS PART OF THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM AND VW WANTS $1200 TO REPAIR. WITHOUT IT BEING FIXED, THE CAR WILL NOT SMOG CHECK. FROM INVESTIGATING, THIS IS A PART THAT HAS BEEN FAULTY ON VW TDI'S THAT IS CAUSING MUCH FRUSTRATION WITH OWNERS.

THE DEALER STATES THE RECALL DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE, BUT THE HEADLIGHTS INSTALLED IN MY VEHICLE ARE OF THE TYPE INDICATED IN THE TSB AS BEING DEFECTIVE. AS OF NOW, I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO LOCATE A REPLACEMENT PART AND HAVE ONLY ONE FUNCTIONING HEADLIGHT. (I'M ASSUMING BECAUSE NO ONE WILL SELL IT SINCE IT'S KNOWN TO BE DEFECTIVE). PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED PHOTO OF THE HEADLIGHT INSTALLED IN MY VEHICLE (GENERATION "20S"). ALSO ATTACHED IS THE TSB THAT SHOWS ANY UNIT LESS THAN GENERATION "24S" NEEDS REPLACED (SEE PAGE 13 AS NUMBERED IN THE FOOTER).
