MY VOLVO XC90 CONTINUES TO HAVE A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING. AFTER 4 TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE PROBLEMS WERE VERIFIED WITH THE AXLE, THE SPLINES, THE BRAKE PADS AND BRAKE CALIPERS, THE CAR STILL KNOCKS!! I FEEL VERY UNSAFE DRIVING IT! VOLVO CORPORATE HAS BEEN NO HELP. *JB
UPON CLOSING THE HATCHBACK IT CAME DOWN WITH SUCH FORCE THAT IT STRUCK THE CONSUMER ON THE HEAD. CONSUMER SUSTAINED A HAIR LINE NECK FRACTURE WHICH WAS DIAGNOSED BY A DOCTOR. *AK *NM
ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES ON MY 2004 VOLVO XC90 (MICHELIN HXMXM4'S) ARE FRIGHTENING. THEY OFFER VERY LITTLE TRACTION IN THE BEST CONDITIONS; IN THE RAIN, UNINTENDED LANE CHANGES ARE COMMON DUE TO SLIDING.*AK
SINCE THE DAY I HAD MY 2004 VOLVO XC90, BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS DO NOT CLOSE COMPLETELY UNTIL I HIT THE WINDOW BUTTON THREE TIMES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS IS NOT CORRECTABLE AND IS NORMAL FOR THIS CAR. HOWEVER, THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT EXIST ON THE 2005 MODELS. *NM
BRAKE LOCKUP. *JB
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AT NORMAL CONDITIONS BRAKES LOCKED UP. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED LEFT WHEEL PULLED TO THE LEFT. DEALER INSPECTED VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES, BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEMS.*AK
IN GENERAL IT SEEMS VERY EASY TO ACCIDENTALLY RELEASE THE SEAT BELT RESTRAINING A CRS WHEN AN ADULD SITTING NEXT TO THE CRS TRIES TO RELEASE THEIR OWN BUCKLE. I HAVE NOTED THIS IN SEVERAL VEHICLES AND OTHER ADULTS HAVE REMARKED ON IT AS WELL.*AK
XC90 DOES NOT START - THE PROBLEM PERSISTED FOR OVER 4 WEEKS AND DEALER COULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. *NLM
1. I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT SHIFT FROM 2ND GEAR UP ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, COOLANT LOW AND URGENT SERVICE OF TRANSMISSION. 2. THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE WAS CONSTANT. 3. WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE TO THE VOLVO DEALERSHIP GARAGE. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT WE NEEDED A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT AS WELL AS COOLANT AND OTHER ENGINE PARTS REPLACED. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION DAMAGED THESE OTHER PARTS. WE SPOKE TO VOLVO CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY ORIGINALLY ACKNOWLEDGED A PROBLEM WITH THE T6 TRANSMISSIONS AND SAID THAT VOLVO WOULD PAY FOR THE PARTS BUT NOT LABOR. WE FOUND OUT THE LABOR WOULD BE $2000 OR MORE. WE CALLED VOLVO BACK AND SPOKE TO A DEBBIE THAT THREATENED US IF WE PUSHED FOR VOLVO TO PAY FOR LABOR, SHE MIGHT TAKE BACK THE ORIGINAL OFFER OF PAYING FOR PARTS AND TOLD US SHE MIGHT HAVE BEEN WILLING TO PAY FOR LABOR IF WE HAD USED A VOLVO DEALERSHIP FOR ALL OF THE INSPECTION OR OTHER SERVICE SAYING "MONEY IN AND MONEY OUT OF VOLVO". *TR
DESIGN DEFECTS IN THE SHIFTING DEVICE ON 2004 VOLVO XC90 SUV. ***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR THE SHIFTING DEVICE TENDS TO STOP IN REVERSE WHEN YOU TRY TO PUT THE SUV INTO PARK, BECAUSE THE SHIFT HAD STOPPED HARD. IF THE BRAKE IS RELEASED AND THE MOTOR IS STILL ON, THE CAR GOES BACKWARDS. THIS CAN EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR AN INJURY. *BF
2004 VOLVO XC90 FRONT RIGHT TIRE BECAME DISCONNECTED FROM THE AXLE AND COLLAPSED UNDER THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE TIE ROD SNAPPED IN HALF. *KB THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN FOUND OUT THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THE TIE ROD (RECALL 06V155000). THE TIRE RODS WERE REPLACED ON BOTH SIDE UNDER THE RECALL. *NM
2004 VOLVO XC90. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS JUMPING INTO GEAR OR LUNGING WHEN HE APPLIED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT 53,000 MILES IN 2008. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AND DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT AXLE HAD LOST A PLUG AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD BECOME CONTAMINATED AND THAT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE JUMPING IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE REPAIR OF THE FRONT AXLE AND TRANSMISSION FLUSH WAS APPROVED AT VOLVO'S COST. HOWEVER, DIAGNOSTICS ALSO REVEALED THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *JB
