TPMS SYSTEM AND REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY FAILS TO OPERATE CORRECTLY AFTER INSTALLING NEW TIRES. DEALER WAS UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM EVEN WITH A CHANGE TO THE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE. GM REPORTS THAT SOME TIRES HAVE TOO MUCH STEEL IN THE BELTS CAUSING THE SIGNALS TO BE BLOCKED OR BE INTERMITTENT WHICH CAN CAUSE DRIVERS TO DRIVE ON UNDER INFLATED TIRES. FAILURE OCCURS IN ANY TYPE OF DRIVING. GM NEEDS TO REPLACE THE SENSORS WITH ONES THAT PROVIDE A STRONGER SIGNAL TO COMPLY WITH THE TREAD ACT.
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE, IE, OIL CHANGE, TIRE ROTATION, AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT. I WAS INFORMED THAT MY TIRES, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD PLENTY OF TREAD LIFE LEFT ON THEM, 6/32 FRONT, 5/32 REAR, THAT THEY WERE DRY ROTTED AND SEPARATED BETWEEN THE TREADS. ALSO WAS INFORMED THAT THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS, THE TIRES MAY COME APART WHILE DRIVING. I WAS INFORMED BY THE TECHNICIAN THAT THIS WAS A DEFECT IN THE TIRES. IN ADDITION, THE TIRES WERE PUT ON A 2010 CAMARO AND THE MANUFACTURES DATE ON ALL 4 TIRES ARE FROM 2008. I KNOW EVENTUALLY I WOULD HAVE TO BUY NEW TIRES, BUT IF THE TIRES WEREN'T IN THE CONDITION THEY ARE IN I MORE THAN LIKELY COULD GET ANOTHER 30,000 MILES OUT OF THEM. MOST IMPORTANTLY IS THE SAFETY HAZARD OF THE TIRES. LOOKING THROUGH THE REPORTS ON THIS PARTICULAR TIRE, I SAW SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. *TR
I HAVE A 2010 CAMARO 2LT WITH 255-20FRONT AND 275-20REAR, AT AROUND 15K KILOMETERS I NOTICED A SLIGHT NOISE OF FRONT TIRES AND EFFECT ON THE STEERING, I FOUND A BIT LATER THAT THE PIRELLI P ZERO'S WERE STARTING TO CUP, I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO MY GM DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THEM THROUGH WARRANTY, I HAD A FULL ALIGNMENT DONE, NOTHING WAS OUT OF LINE OR BALANCE. I AM ON MY 2ND SET OF FRONTS AND THEY ARE ALSO TOAST AT THE SAME MILEAGE INTERVAL. I AM NOT SURE IF THE TIRES ARE THE PROBLEM OR IF THE VEHICLES STEERING/SUSPENSION SYSTEM IS TO LIGHT TO HANDLE THE LARGE TIRES? WHEN I LOOK AT THE STEERING SYSTEM I AM HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS THAT THIS IS THE CASE. GM WOULD OF COURSE DENY THIS AND I CANNOT PROVE THIS UNTIL I CHANGE OVER TO ANOTHER SET OF TIRES. IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO FIND OUT IF THE STEERING BEING TOO LIGHT WOULD BE THE PROBLEM. *TR

THE 2010 CAMARO RS PACKAGE ONLY COMES WITH PIRELLI P-ZERO TIRES, (P245/45/ZR20 IN FRONT, P275/40/ZR20 IN REAR). THESE ARE "SUMMER ONLY" TIRES. NEITHER GM NOR THE DEALERSHIP EXPLAINED THIS AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. IT WAS ALSO NOT INCLUDED IN ANY OF THE PAPERWORK DESCRIBING THE VEHICLE OR IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN NORTHERN ILLINOIS, WHERE WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE A GIVEN. I ONLY BECAME AWARE OF THIS AFTER THE FIRST SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL, WHEN THE VEHICLE BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. IT SKIDS DURING EVEN AT LOW ACCELERATION AND DURING GENTLE BRAKING. WHEN THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED, THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY OR GM COULD DO REGARDING THE SITUATION. THEY ARE SELLING THESE VEHICLES WITH "STANDARD EQUIPMENT" THAT IS CERTAIN TO MAKE THEM UNSAFE TO DRIVE FOR A SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF THE YEAR IN MANY PARTS OF THE COUNTRY. THEY ARE GIVING THE BUYER NO WARNING OF THIS. THIS IS UNETHICAL AT BEST AND COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY AND PROPERTY DAMAGE.
I PURCHASED A 2010 SS CAMARO IN NORTHEAST OHIO. AFTER PURCHASE I FOUND OUT THAT THE CARS COME WITH "SUMMER ONLY" TIRES. THE TIRES DO NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT BEING "SUMMER ONLY" SO I TRIED TO DRIVE THE CAR IN OUR WINTER SEASON. THE CAR IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE IN AS LITTLE AS AN INCH OF SNOW. I PURCHASED WINTER TIRES FOR THIS SEASON FOR OVER $1000.00. PIRELLE INFORMED ME THAT THE TIRES AN NOT TO BE USED IN TEMPS UNDER 41 DEGREES, THE WEEK OF THANKSGIVING (2010) TEMPS IN FLORIDA WERE UNDER 35 DEGREES. THESE TIRES CAN NOT BE USED IN MORE THAN 50% OF AMERICA! WHY SHOULD A CUSTOMER OF A NEW CAR BE EXPECTED TO PURCHASE TIRES? THEN ARE UNSAFE AND UNUSABLE IN MOST PARTS OF THE COUNTRY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET CAMARO SS EQUIPPED WITH PIRELLI PZERO TIRES, SIZE P245/45/20. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES SOLD ON THE VEHICLE WERE "SUMMER TIRES". WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH AND PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE, THE TIRES LOST TRACTION AND MOVED SIDEWAYS. THE CONTACT CALLED THE TIRE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 45 DEGREES, THE TIRES SHOULD NOT BE USED. THE WARRANTY WAS VOID AND SHOULD BE SWITCHED FOR "WINTER TIRES". THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 7,000.
I HAVE A 2010 CHEVY CAMARO RS 2 LT. I AM EXPERIENCING AN ISSUE WITH FRONT PS WHEEL "WASHBOARDING" ;FEELS LIKE DRIVING WITH A FLAT TIRE. DEALERSHIP REPLACED FRONT TIRES, STILL HAVE PROBLEM; THEY PRETTY MUCH WASHED THEIR HANDS OF THIS ISSUE, SAID THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING... IT ONLY DOES THIS IN THE MORNING WHEN STARTING OUT, WHEN I DRIVE VEHICLE LATER IN THE DAY IT DRIVES FINE, BUT I NOW HAVE A METAL ON METAL SOUND COMING FROM THAT WHEEL SO ITS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. I LOVE THE VEHICLE, BUT AM INCREASINGLY FRUSTRATED WITH THIS SITUATION AND LACK OF CONCERN WITH DEALER. THIS COMPLAINT IS TO MAKE THE NHTSA AWARE OF A SAFETY HAZARD THAT EXISTS WITH CERTAIN 2011 CHEVROLET CAMAROS. I OWN A 1LT EQUIPPED WITH THE RS PACKAGE. THIS PACKAGE INCLUDES 20" RIMS. UNFORTUNATELY, SHORTLY AFTER TAKING POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE, I LEARNED THAT GM EQUIPS RS CAMAROS WITH PIRELLI P-ZERO TIRES. THESE TIRES ARE RATED AS "SUMMER ONLY" TIRES AND WILL POSE AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD TO THOSE ATTEMPTING TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE IN SNOW, OR TEMPERATURES BELOW 45 DEGREES F--ESSENTIALLY MAKING THE VEHICLE UNDRIVABLE IN WINTER WEATHER. GM, NOR THE DEALERSHIP, WARNED THE DRIVER THAT THESE TIRES CAN ONLY BE USED IN THE SUMMER. UNAWARE DRIVERS MAY BECOME STUCK OR LOSE CONTROL AND CRASH, DUE TO THE TIRE'S LOSS OF TRACTION AND HARDENING OF RUBBER IN COLD/WINTER CONDITIONS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CAMARO (NA) EQUIPPED WITH PIRELLI P0 TIRES, SIZE 245/45/R20 FRONT, 275/40/R20 IN THE REAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH TIRES THAT WERE ONLY GOOD IN THE SUMMER WEATHER OR IN STATES THAT HAD CONTINUOUSLY NICE WEATHER ALL YEAR LONG. HE STATED THAT THE TIRES HAD NO TRACTION AND ON THE TIRE IT WAS NOTATED "SUMMER ONLY". THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE TIRES THAT WERE INSTALLED BY THE FACTORY AND REFERRED HIM TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150.
2010 CHEVROLET CAMARO. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEMS WITH TIRES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, HE FELT THE VEHICLE START TO RUN DIFFERENT AND THERE WAS A SMELL OF RUBBER. EARLIER DURING THE DRIVE, HE RECEIVED AN ALERT THAT THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT TIRE PRESSURE WAS LOW, SO HE STOPPED AND ADDED AIR. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS LOW ON PRESSURE. THE CONSUMER PULLED OVER AND DISCOVERED THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS COMPLETELY FLAT AND DESTROYED BEYOND REPAIR. THE CONSUMER THEN CALLED ONSTAR AND WAS GIVEN THE TIRE SIZE OF HIS TIRES, ONLY TO DISCOVER THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WERE SMALLER THAN THE TIRES ON THE FRONT. THE CONSUMER IS REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT DUE TO AN ERROR THAT WAS MADE AT THE FACTORY AND THE MONEY THAT WAS SPENT TO REPLACE THE TIRE. *JB
