ABS SYSTEM ENGAGES WITH EXTREME VIBRATION AND NOISE, BRAKE PEDAL WILL BE ENGAGED TO THE FLOOR AND PEDAL WILL PUSH BACK WITH RESISTANT AND THEN FAILS TO RESPOND. RESULTING IN CAR TAKING LONGER TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND TIRES TO LOCK UP WITHOUT SHIFTING POWER TO ALTERNATE TIRE. DT: THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FABRICATION. THE CHOKE CONTROL IS BROKEN. CHEVROLET IS NOT OFFERING ANY HELP. I N THE MORNING, WHEN HE STARTED THE VEHICLE, HE WENT BACK INTO THE HOUSE, CAME BACK, AND THE VEHICLE WAS BURNING. CONTACT BELIEVES THE PROBLEM STARTED IN THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALERSHIP NOW. *AK
I BOUGHT A 2004 COLORADO IN MARCH OF THAT YEAR,ON DEC. 31ST 2004 I HAD TO REPLACE THE TWO FRONT TIRES AT MY EXPENSE. THEY HAD WORN FROM THE INSIDE OUT THE TIRES HAD 23,000 +MILES ON THEM. I COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOT ANYTHING WRONG. IN MARCH 2005 I HAD TO BRING IT IN FOR THE SAME THING WITH LESS MILES ON THOSE TIRES 17,000 MILES AND THEY STILL INSIST THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. I SOON WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THESE TIRES BEFORE WINTER. THE DEALER TELLS ME TIRES NEED TO BE ROTATED MORE OFTEN. I'VE OWNED OTHER S-10 MODELS WITH OVER 250,000 AND HAVEN'T HAD THE PROBLEMS I'VE HAD WITH THIS TYPE OF PROBLEMS. I DID HAVE OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE FROM DOOR WIRING, REPLACEMENT OF O2 SENSOR,FRONT AXLE SEAL DRIVER SIDE REPLACE,HEADLIGHTS,FOG LIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS ALL HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITHIN THE FIRST 20,000 MILES. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH DRIVER WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, AND NOTICED FIRE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE EXTINGUISHED ON ITS OWN. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER F OR INSPECTION. *AK
DRIVER'S SIDE ELECTRICAL BUTTON CONTROL PAD INOPERABLE AT IRREGULAR AND INCONSISTENT INSTANCES. UPON PUSHING DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW ELECTRICAL BUTTON, DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WILL NOT ROLL DOWN. HOWEVER, THE DRIVER'S BACK, PASSENGER FRONT SIDE, AND PASSENGER BACK SIDE ELECTRICAL KEYPAD WINDOW BUTTONS REMAIN OPERABLE. BOTH THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER LOCK/UNLOCK ELECTRICAL KEYPAD BUTTONS ARE INOPERABLE. UPON TURNING OFF ENGINE, REMOVING KEY, EXITING VEHICLE, CLOSING ALL DOORS, AND PUSHING THE KEYLESS ENTRY LOCK AND/OR UNLOCK BUTTONS RESULT IN RESPONSE FROM KEYLESS LOCKING MECHANISM. WHEN KEY IS LEFT IN IGNITION AND ENGINE RUNNING, UPON PRESSING EITHER THE LOCK/UNLOCK ELECTRICAL BUTTONS ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR OR PRESSING THE KEYLESS ENTRY LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTONS RESULT IN A DOUBLE "DINGING" SOUND FROM THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY BUT NO OTHER INDICATION IS PRODUCED FROM DASHBOARD. CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT A DEFROSTER PROBLEM. WHEN THE TEMPERATURE REACHED 20 DEGREES OR LOWER THE DEFROSTER WILL NOT CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD, MAKING VISIBILITY VERY DIFFICULT. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, WHO STATED THAT THIS WAS THE WAY VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED, AND THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO. *AK
AFTER PUTTING THE TRUCK IN PARK YET STILL LEAVING ON I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARD BECAUSE IT WAS STILL ENGAGED IN REVERSE. THE GEAR INDICATION SHOWED IT WAS PARK BUT THE TRANSMITION WAS IN REVERSE. IN ORDER TO START THE TRUCK IT HAD TO BE SWICH INTO NETURAL FIRST. THIS WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE SHIFT CABLE ASSEMBLY STATING IT WAS BINDING UP TO FIX PROBLEM.*AK
DT: THE TIRES WOBBLE ON THE VEHICLE AND MAKE THE VEHICLE VIBRATE. THERE HAVE BEEN 13 TIRES PUT ON THIS TRUCK SINCE 9-27-04. THE TRUCK ALSO FISHTAILS ON THESE TIRES WHEN THE SPEED IS 50 AND OVER. GM HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS EXTEND THE WARRANTY AND KEEP REPLACING THE TIRES. GM HAS INFORMED THE OWNER THAT THESE GENERAL TIRES, GENERAL AMERITRAC TR ARE THE ONLY TIRES THAT ARE SHOWING WEAR ON THE INSIDE. ALL FOUR TIRES ON ALL FOUR LOCATIONS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE HAS BEEN REPLACED ONE EXTRA TIME FOR A FACTORY DEFECT. THIS IS A Z-71 SUSPENSION. THE CORRECTION: THE DEALERSHIP KEEPS CHANGING OUT THE TIRES AND GM HAS SUPPLIED A RENTAL VEHICLE WHILE THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING ISSUE. THE TIRE ARE GENERAL AMERITRAC TR. TIRE SIZE 265/75R15.
THIS 2004 CHEVROLET COLORADO, 2 WHEEL DRIVE TRUCK HAS VIBRATION AND SHIMMY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE TIRES ARE GENERAL AMERITRAC TR 265/75R/15. THE TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND ROAD TESTED PER THE NOVEMBER 2004 BULLETIN FROM GENERAL MOTORS. THE TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES WITH MULTIPLE BALANCES, ETC. THERE IS ABNORMAL WEAR OF THE TIRES. PURCHASE DATE 9/27/04. BEGINNING OF PROBLEM 11/22/04, AT ABOUT 2300 MILES. THE PROBLEM IS ONGOING WITH DIFFICULTY CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE AFTER THE NEW TIRES WEAR IN A LITTLE BIT.
THE CONSUMER CRASHED INTO A TREE HEAD ON AT 35 MPH. THE FRONT AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HIS HEAD, SHOULDER AND NECK.*JB

WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. AS I WAS PUTTING THE GEAR SHIFT INTO PARK THE TRUCK LUNGED FORWARD HITTING A CONCRETE POST AND BUILDING. AIR BAGS DEPLOYED CAUSING INJURY TO DRIVER ON BOTH ARMS AND STOMACH. TRUCK IS TO BE REPAIRED AS THERE IS FRONT END DAMAGE FROM CRASH.
THE DESIGN ON THE VEHICLE WAS POOR. CONSUMER WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE KEYLESS ENTRY DOOR ON DRIVER'S SIDE. THE CONSUMER STATED IT WAS AN INCONVENIENCE.*AK THE CONSUMER STATED THT THE PASSENGER DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT IF THE AIRBAG WERE DEPLOYED MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. *TC
I OWN A 2004 CHEVROLET COLORADO AND I AM EXPERIENCING A SHAKE DUE TO THE TIRES HEATING UP/COOLING OFF, AND GETTING FLAT SPOTS FROM THAT.*AK
BRAKE AND GAS PEDAL ARE TO CLOSE TOGETHER FOR PEOPLE WITH LARGER FEET. I WEAR A SIZE 13 SHOE AND WHEN I WEAR MY HIKING BOOTS, I HAVE ABOUT 1/4" CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE RIGHT SIDE WALL AND THE BRAKE PEDAL, MY FOOT CONTINUALLY CATCHES ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I AM LOOKING INTO MOVING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE LEFT OR PUTTING ON A NEW PAD TO GIVE MORE ROOM IN BETWEEN THE BRAKE AND THE SIDE WALL. *JB
NOTICED AN 'OFF' ODOR FROM VEHICLE AFTER IT SAT OVERNIGHT THROUGHOUT THE FALL. AS VEHICLE IS TYPICALLY OPERATED WITH WINDOWS DOWN DURING THE TEMPARATE MONTHS I THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT. ONCE THE WEATHER CHANGED AND VEHICLE WAS BEING OPERATED WITH THE WINDOWS UP I STARTED TO FEEL ILL WITH RESPIRATORY DISTRESS / TIGHNESS IN THE CHEST AND THROAT EACH TIME I OPERATED THE VEHICLE. WHEN RETREIVING AN ITEM FROM THE FLOOR I NOTICED A VERY DISTINCT STRONG ODOR OF MILDEW. I FELT THE CARPETS AND THEY WERE DAMP TO THE TOUCH. FEELING UNDER THE CARPET I FOUND THE PADDING SATURATED FROM THE FIREWALL TO THE REAR OF THE CAB. DEALER FOUND THAT THE SEAM BETWEEN THE COWL AND CAB WAS NEVER SEALED AT THE FACTORY CAUSING WATER TO DRAIN INTO THE CAB'S FLOORPAN. DEALER HAD SPECIALIST COME AND LOCATE/REPAIR THE LEAKS IN THE FRONT AND REAR OF THE CAB. DEALER'S INVOICE STATES THAT THE INTERIOR WAS REMOVED AND CARPETS DE-ODORIZED. UPON PICKING UP THE VEHICLE THE DISTINCT ODOR OF MILDEW CONTAMINATION REMAINED. DEALER STATED THAT IT IS NOT MANUFACTURER'S POLICY TO REPLACE THE DAMAGED CARPETING/INTERIOR MATERIALS EXCEPT FOR THE PADDING. SHAMPOOING OF THE REMAINING MATERIALS DOES NOT REMOVE MILDEW CONTAMINATION FROM THE REST OF THE INTERIOR. HAVE PETITIONED MANUFACTURER AND DEALER TO PLEASE ADDRESS CONCERNS DUE TO THE SEVERE HEALTH CONSEQUENCES. RESPONSE HAS STILL BEEN THAT THEY CAN ONLY SHAMPOO IT WHEN I SMELL SOMETHING. MANUFACTURER IS UNWILLING TO READILY/COMPLETELY REPAIR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES CAUSED BY A COVERED AND ACKNOWLEDGE MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THE BRAKE PEDAL IN THIS VEHICLE IS TOO CLOSE TO THE ACCELERATOR, CREATING A LIMITED SPACE FOR YOUR FOOT. ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION MY FOOT WAS IMPINGED UNDER THE EDGE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR TO BRAKE. I FEEL THAT ONE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE BRAKE QUICKLY IN A PANIC STOP SITUATION.
ON 10/15/2004, I BEGAN TO TURN THE IGNITION KEY OF MY 2004 CHEVROLET COLORADO AUTOMOBILE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. JUST AS I TURNED THE IGNITION, THE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG INFLATED. THE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG INFLATED FOR NO REASON. THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY SINCE I HAVE ONLY OWNED THE VEHICLE SEVERAL WEEKS. THE MANUFACTURER WILL BE REPLACING THE AIRBAG UNDER WARRANTY. THE AIRBAG INFLATION DID NOT RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY. THE ONLY INJURY WAS A RUG BURN LIKE FEELING TO THE FACE AND A SORE LEFT EYE AND A SORE LEFT HAND. NEITHER APPEAR TO BE SERIOUS.*JB
I HAVE A 2004 CHEVROLET COLORADO 4WD EXTENDED CAB TRUCK THAT CONSTANTLY VIBRATES AT SPEEDS OF 30MPH AND 55-60MPH. THE TRUCK SHAKES AS IF IT IS OUT OF ALIGNMENT OR TIRES ARE UNBALANCED. I HAD THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER A TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES - TWICE FOR RE-BALANCING THE TIRES AND ONCE FOR A SET OF NEW TIRES. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE TIRES WERE RECALLED BECAUSE OF CUPPING. BUT, THE PROBLEM OF VIBRATING OR OSCILLATING STILL EXISTS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN ACTUALLY VERY HELPFUL, BUT FRUSTRATED. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS MAY BE A DEFECTIVE DRIVESHAFT, WHICH TELLS ME THIS COULD BE A DANGEROUS SITUATION. *JB
WHILE DRIVING AND UPON TRYING TO BRAKE PUTTING IT THREE AND THEN TWO THE VEHICLE PICKED UP SPEED WHEN IT SHOULD BE SLOWING DOWN. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING. ALSO, CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. *AK
I HAVE A 2004 CHEVROLET COLRADO AN AFTER ONLY 300 MILES MY FRONT STRUT STARTED LEAKING FLUID ,AN A VERY ROUGH RIDE.*AK
GM IS MAKING ALL THEIR VEHICLES WITH MANUAL LOCKS INACCESSIBLE FROM THE OUTSIDE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. DEALERS ARE NOT TELLING CONSUMERS ABOUT THIS. IF, AS I DID, YOU PURCHASE A TWO DOOR VEHICLE WITH MANUAL LOCKS, YOU MUST CLIMB THROUGH THE DRIVER SIDE TO UNLOCK THE PASSENGER SIDE. THIS POSES A GREAT SAFETY RISK FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN. THE INFANT MUST BE SET DOWN UNATTENDED (PERHAPS ON HOT PAVEMENT) WHILE THE MOTHER CLIMBS THROUGH TO OPEN THE PASSENGER DOOR TO PLACE THE INFANT IN ITS CHILD SEAT. THE SAME CAN BE SAID OF A TODDLER WHO MAY WANDER INTO TRAFFIC DURING THIS ACTIVITY. ALSO POLICE ROUTINELY TELL WOMEN THAT IF THE VEHICLE IS NEXT TO A SUSPECT VAN IN A PARKING LOT, THAT THEY SHOULD ENTER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THIS IS NO LONGER POSSIBLE. THIS ALSO APPLIES IS SOMEONE JUST PARKS TOO CLOSE, YOU WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR VEHICLE UNTIL THE OTHER VEHICLE IS MOVED. I FEEL THAT THESE ARE VIABLE SAFETY CONCERNS AND THE DEALERS (WHEN QUESTIONED) STATE THAT THEY DIDN'T REALIZE YOU CAN'T GET IN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WITH A KEY. THEIR ONLY SOLUTION IS TO PAY FOR ELECTRONIC LOCKS AND THE KEY FOBS TO OPERATE THEM TO THE TUNE OF NEARLY $800 FOR A 2-DOOR VEHICLE.*AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION AT 40 MPH IMPACT. DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED TO HOLD THE DRIVER IN PLACE , AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL BY AN AMBULANCE. DEALER WAS CONTACTED, AND THE VEHICLE IS AT THE BODY SHOP.*AK

VEHICLE HAS AN ON GOING PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE DRAGGING THE VEHICLE WHEN APPLIED. CONDITION CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SHIMMY AND EXTENDED BRAKING DISTANCE. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.

VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING DEALER PUT A MONITOR ON, AND THE VEHICLE HAD NO DEFECT, ACCORDING TO THE DEALER. CONSUMER STATED THAT THE DEALER WANTED TO SELL HIM ANOTHER VEHICLE. *AK
I WAS DRIVING MY 2004 CHEVROLET COLORADO Z71 4X4 IN THE PASSING LANE ON RT. 460, WHEN THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE ( GENERAL AMERITEC TR P265/75-150) BLEW OUT, THE WHOLE SIDE BLEW OUT. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL. THE TIRE WRAPPED ITSELF AROUND THE HUB AND I INJURED MY BACK TRYING TO GET IT OFF . THIS TIRE SEEMS TOO LIGHT DUTY FOR A PICK-UP, THE SIDE WALLS ARE VERY, VERY THIN. ANYWAY, THIS TIRE ONLY HAD 7400 MILES ON IT WHEN IT BLEW OUT AND NEITHER THE MANUFACTURE, NOR THE DEALER WOULD REPLACE IT. I ENDED UP PAYING FOR A NEW ONE MYSELF. VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE AN OUTSIDE KEY DOOR LOCK ON PASSENGER'S SIDE. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO ENTER THE VEHICLE FROM THE OUTSIDE PASSENGER DOOR. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK THE CONSUMER WENT TO PUT CHILD IN THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE POWER LOCKS DID NOT WORK AND COULD NOT OPEN THE PASSENGER DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE CONSUMER HAD TO OPEN THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE BY REACHING OVER AND UNLOCKING THE DOOR. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND WAS QUOTED A PRICE OF $350.00 TO INSTALL POWER LOCKS. THE CONSUMER FEELS SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY SINCE SHE PREFERRED MANUAL LOCKS IN THE FIRST PLACE. *TC

REAR DOOR REHUNG AND FRONT DOOR REHUNG AND CLOSE OK BUT THERE IS A 3/32 INCH GAP AT THE BOTTOM IN BETWEEN THE DOORS AND A 3/8 INCH GAP AT THE TOP. THE DEALER SAYS THAT IS OK AND I SHOULD ACCEPT IT SINCE THE DOORS WORK OF. AFTER DRIVING HOME I DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS NO KEY ENTRY AVAILABLE FROM THE PASSENGER'S SIDE, NO WAY TO GET IN TO HELP SOMEONE, RESCUE SOMEONE, AND NO WAY TO ESCAPE SOME BY GETTING INTO THE TRUCK.*AK NO ONE HAS BEEN HURT YET. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS ABOUT THE REMOVAL OF THE KEY LOCK FROM THE PASENGERS DOOR ON THE VEHICLE AND NO NOTIFICATION PROVIDED BY THE DEALER.
2004 CHEVROLET COLORADO, NEW PURCHASE, DROVE 568 MILES ENGINE IDLE ERATICALLY, ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED AND THEN ENGINE STALLED. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY REPROGRAMMED COMPUTER, SINCE THAT I LOST 1.6 MPG AND ENGINE WILL NOT IDLE UNTIL VEHICLE CAME TO COMPLETE STOP. ENGINE RPMS DO NOT DROP BETWEEN SHIFTS LIKE IT DID BEFORE REPROGRAMMING AND VEHICLE LUNGES WHEN CLUTCH IS RELEASED IF NOT CAREFULL OR GIVE IT EXTRA TIME FOR THE RPMS TO DROP FOR A SMOOTH ENGAGEMENT. AND WHEN YOU NEED TO LET OFF THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR KEEPS GOING LIKE YOU ARE STILL ACCELERATING, ESPECIALLY IN FOURTH GEAR, WHICH CAN THROW OFF TIMING AND CAUSE YOU TO HIT BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN OR PUSH CLUTCH IN TO KEEP FROM GOING AHEAD AT SAME SPEED UNTIL RPMS FALL, WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE, IT DID NO OF THIS , THE DEALER HAS MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT BUT SAYS THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE GM PROGRAM.
