This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2022 GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado vehicles equipped with a manual passenger seat. The front passenger seat may have a hook attachment that was not properly welded, allowing it to separate from the inboard track of the seat frame.
Remedy Status
Dealers will inspect the front passenger seat and replace the cushion frame, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 6, 2022. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N222368320.
in december 2025 i was driving my 2022 chevy colorado with 2.5 liter all of a sudden with no prior warning or lights i have an extremely hard brake pedal could barely stop i wasnt far from home when i pulled into drive i left it running to check brake fluid saw some smoke . i pop hood and saw brake fluid full but smoke coming from the back of motor i couldn't tell where so i walked around to look underneath and saw oil all over. i shut engine off and had towed to chevy dealership diagnosis vacuum pump failure with engine damage.
Beginning in Nov 2025 my steering wheel occasionally catches, grabs or gets stuck at slow speeds in forward or reverse as I turn the wheel like pulling into a parking space. A loud noise also occurs as I ease the wheel off a little then power through the grab, which then returns to normal steering. I've been able to overpower the grab by powering through it. I brought my truck to an auto repair shop. The tech experienced one episode on a test drive. He could not identify any issues and no warning lights. I contacted General Motors problem resolution team in Detroit. They had me take my truck to a Chevy Dealership which I did. The truck was at the dealership from 7:30 in the morning till almost 4pm. The dealership experienced one episode, thoroughly checked out the truck but could not diagnose a problem. The Chevy dealership did not charge me and did not give me any paperwork, indicating they would be willing to try again if the problem continues/gets worse. Both auto repair shop and Chevy said it was ok, safe to drive. Detroit's team spoke with the Chevy dealership and closed the ticket they had opened for me, telling me I could email the team and open a new ticket if necessary in the future.
The plastic piece on the heater blend door actuator breaks. There was a recall or a service bulletin (2016019) on this issue for the 2015-16 models. The problem still exists, but Chevy will not acknowledge it and the consumer is left to pay a ridiculous amount for the repair. How are they allowed to keep making this product? Had I known I wouldn’t have bought the truck.
i am unable to remove the key from the ignition. i have to start the vehicle numerous times all while shifting the gear shifter back and forth between drive and park. after several attempts the key will finally release.
Failure of the steering column to release the ignition key. The common failure occurs without warning or advance notice and may be an intermittent issue. Safety Issues: Unable to remove key from the ignition column results in: Inability to lock vehicle, potentially placing passangers at peril. Inability to properly park car as the steering wheel will not lock position, which results in a significant of roll away risk. Significantly increases departure time from the vehicle. Potential loss of property. Potential loss of Park Position of the transmission.
Key will not come out. Have to put car in park and shift gears to try to get key unlocked. Something have to disconnect the negative side of the battery to get key out.
While driving with my wife and granddaughter we were getting off the freeway making a left turn to head into Nashville and the steering wheel locked up and would not allow me to turn the wheels. The dash board flashed and had to force it over to the right side of the road. The steering wheel locked up while making teh turn almost caused me to fill the truck and crash into other vehicles making the same left turn we were. We called roadside assistants with onstar and had it towed to teh nearest chevrolet dealer. The dealer then waited 3 days before looking at the vehicle. They at first said they could not recreat the issue but then the next day said the steering gear was bad and should be replaced. When I advised them I had an extended warranty they would get back to me. Then the next day Thursday Aug 14 they then again said it could not be recreated and they did not want the warranty company to deny it. It currently still sits at Carl Black Chevrolet. Problem first appeared Sat aug 9th. I am set to pick it up tomorrow Aug 16th as of yet nothing has been done to correct the issue.
After the ignition was turned off, unable to remove the ignition key. Restarting the vehicle and rocking the gear shifter back and forth and rotating the steering wheel enables the key to be finally removed.
key can not be removed from the ignition switch without repeated turning to the on/run position and moving the shifter to drive and back to park position until the key position goes into the lock off position and can be removed from the switch at this point the key shaft is sometimes very hot to hot to hold comfortably this is an intermittent problem that is increasing in frequency on this vehicle
Not able to remove the key from the ignition.
Having problems with the key not being released from the ignition I have to; > turn truck off /on several times > put the truck in neutral and back in park several times before the key is released
Seems to be a common problem but has a notchy feeling in the steering causing you to have to balance the steering wheel back and forth and is unsafe. Feels like it gets stuck. I may sell the truck as it is a safety issue. I only have 22-k miles on the vehicle.
Chevy shifter control gets stuck in a position that does not allow the car to recognize when it is in park and release the key out of the ignition switch. Yes, it is available upon request. Safety is at risk as the vehicle is not recognizing when the car is in park, could lead to further problems when in park. The problem occurs more often than not when switching the car into park, car must be turned back on on off multiple times to release the key or popping the shift release to trip part into engaging and thus releasing. The car was taken in today to a Chevy dealer for a $900 diagnostic and fix which was not performed, many complaints and issues with other newer chevy owners about the issue. No warning lights or tripped codes on code scanner.
The key will not come out after park and engine turn off. It getting harder and harder each time to get the key out.
The heated seats are not working
While driving, infotainment console/screen is over written with an INTERACTIVE screen demanding the driver to acknowledge privacy policy. INTERACTIVE while DRIVING. What kind of idiot thinks it's a good thing to distract a driver to fulfill a legal point??
Recently, on multiple occasions, have not been able to move console shift handle into PARK position to remove ignition key. This results in vehicle remaining in ACCESSORIES mode. I can turn radio OFF, but driving lights as well as any accessory remain POWERED on. Searched NHTSA for any recalls and found nothing related to my 2022 CHEVROLET COLORADO.
Battery drains and discharges due to parasite draw drawdown from infotainment system leaving driver stranded in parking garages and other locations. Local deal will not respond. Service Bulletin: N 232 412 313 Covers 2023 Chevrolet Colorado pickup trucks, but not the 2022 model years.
Battery keeps draining and leaves you stranded at home or at a parking garage. GM knows that over 250,000 vehicles are affected in the Chevy, GMC line and apparently has spread to Cadillac. The problem is that when GM does over the air updates to the vehicles, the computer software will not disconnect and drains the batteries.
