SEVERAL MONTHS BACK I STARTED NOTICING A STRONG GAS SMELL COMING FROM THE RIGHT SIDE REAR NEAR THE EXHAUST OF MY VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE TANK HAS TO BE DROPPED (A VERY EXPENSIVE SERVICE) TO DETERMINE THE ISSUE WITH FUEL AND THAT THERE IS A VISIBLE LEAK WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED AND RUNNING. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM FROM OTHER 2007 CHEVY EQUINOX OWNERS. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURE DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO ADDRESSED BY A PROPER RECALL. THIS DEFECT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD BE FATAL IF NOT FIXED. *TR
WHEN I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, THE IGNITION KEY STAYS STUCK. EVEN IF I TURN IT BACK AND FORTH IT DOES NOT COME OUT, I HAVE TO WAIT ABOUT TWO MINUTES BEFORE I CAN TAKE IT OUT. SOMETIMES, IF I MOVE THE KEY EXTREMELY FAST, I AM ABLE TO TAKE IT OUT ON THE FIRST TRY. I HAVE SEEN THIS COMPLAINT ON THIS VEHICLE BEFORE BUT THERE IS STILL NO RECALL. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE AIRBAG SENSOR FOR THE PASSENGER SEAT SHUT OFF THEN TURNED BACK ON REPEATEDLY. THEN SENSOR IS NOT CORRECTLY IDENTIFYING WHEN THERE IS AS PASSENGER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, AND THE AIRBAG IS THEN AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF. WHEN IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WE WERE TOLD THAT THERE ARE TWO SENSORS THAT ARE NOT WORKING CORRECTLY FOR THE PASSENGER PRESENCE SYSTEM. UNFORTUNATELY THE VIN NUMBER IS NOT IN THE 2007 RECALL LISTED AFFECTED VIN NUMBERS, EVEN THOUGH IT IS HAVING THE SAME SENSOR PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY EQUINOX, I SMELLED GAS AND THOUGHT I HAD WASTED GAS WHEN I WENT TO THE GAS STATION. AFTER SMELLING GAS FOR WEEKS, MY HUSBAND CHECKED THE TRUCK AND FOUND IT HAD GAS LEAKING FROM IT. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FOUND THAT IT WAS LEAKING FROM THE FUEL ASSEMBLY AND STATED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. AFTER CALLING GM THEY REFUSE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM AND STATES THAT IF YOUR WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. AFTER CHECKING ONLINE I FOUND THAT THERE ARE TONS OF COMPLAINTS FROM FELLOW EQUINOX OWNERS ABOUT THIS DEFECT AND I FEEL THAT CHEVY SHOULD BE MADE TO OFFER A RECALL AND BE FORCED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *TR
WHEN I PARK MY CAR I CANNOT GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. I HAVE TO PUSH THE BRAKE ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT SEVERAL TIMES BACK AND FOURTH BEFORE I CAN GET THE KEY OUT. IT HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY DAY, EVERY TIME I PARK THE CAR. IT IS GETTING WORSE DAY BY DAY AND I AM AFRAID THAT ONE DAY I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET THE KEY OUT AT ALL. I AM UNEMPLOYED AT THE PRESENT AND CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE ANYONE LOOK AT IT. I FEEL THAT IT IS A DEFECT FROM THE FACTORY, BECAUSE THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY REPORTS FOR THE SAME THING. VERY STRONG FUEL ODOR/FUMES. LEAKING UNDERNEATH. *TR
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON 8/26/11 AT GREENWAY CHEVROLET IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA AT 87K MILEAGE. I SMELL GAS COMING FROM THE REAR RIGHT WHEEL AREA AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DAVID MAUS IN SANFORD, FLORIDA ON 5/1/12 TOLD THEM TO CHECK VEHICLE FOR THE SMELL AND TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION. AT THAT TIME THE VEHICLE MILEAGE IS 99883. THEY SAID THAT THEY DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG TO MAKE THE GAS SMELL. SO I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WHEN THE SCENT GOT STRONGER AND STRONGER THEN I WITNESS GAS VISIBLE LEAKING SO I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO DAVID MAUS IN SANFORD FOR REPAIR. THEY THEN CONFIRMED THE FUEL PUMP LEAK.SO I HAD TO REPLACE IT. I ALSO CONTACT GENERAL MOTORS FOR THE FIRST TIME TO ADVISED OF THE FUEL PUMP MALFUNCTION, AND THEY ADVISED THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND ITS CONSIDERED WEAR AND TEAR AND NOT A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. NOW THERE IS A RECALL ON CERTAIN CHEVROLET EQUINOX FUEL PUMP SO I CONTACT GENERAL MOTORS FOR THE SECOND TIME AND THEY ADVISED THAT MY VEHICLE/VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED ON THE RECALL. I ALSO OPEN A CLAIM WITH THE BBB (BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU) WHICH CONTACT GM ONCE MORE AND THEY CALL ME AND ADVISED THAT I WOULD NOT QUALIFY FOR ANY REIMBURSEMENT, NOT EVEN UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. I STARTED SMELL FUEL AND AROUND 10/04/2012 I NOTICE IT WAS LEAKING FUEL AROUND THE FUEL TANK. *TR
WE WERE TRAVELING 3-28-2013 AND WERE ABOUT A HUNDRED MILES FROM OUR DESTINATION WHEN THE SERVICE STABILITRAC, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. LESS THAN A YEAR PRIOR TO THIS ON 4-19-2012 WE HAD A SIMILAR INCIDENT, WHICH HAPPENED TO BE THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE. WE MADE IT HOME 4-2-2013 AND TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND FOUND OUT THE EGR VALVE NEED REPLACING. I REPLACE THE EGR VALVE AND CLEARED THE CODES. ALL WAS WELL TILL 4-7-2013 WHEN THE SERVICE STABILITRAC AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN. I HAVE NOT HAD A CHANCE TO LOOK INTO THIS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER HE REACHED HIS DESTINATION, HE EXITED THE VEHICLE AND SMELLED A VERY STRONG ODOR OF FUEL. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A FUEL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOTIFIED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000. UPDATED 06/26/12 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE FUEL PUMP CONNECTING RING FAILED, WHICH CAUSED FUEL TO LEAK. THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER AT NO CHARGE. UPDATED 06/27/12
WE HAVE A 2007 EQUINOX THAT THE POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING. PRIOR TO THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT, THE SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGHT WOULD COME ON AT RANDOM TIMES FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I CONTACTED A DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS POSSIBLE THAT THERE COULD BE CORROSION ON THE CONNECTORS FOR THE SENSORS FOR THE STABILITRAK. WHEN THE POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING, I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT OTHERS WERE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES, SO I CONTACTED GM WHO WANTED ME TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANYTHING THEY COULD DO. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE. AFTER A WEEK AND A HALF OF TALKING TO GM THEY SAID, DUE TO THE AGE AND MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. DUE TO THE NUMBER OF CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS, WE THEN ASKED THEM HAVE THEY DONE ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH THE CONTROL MODULE. THEY COULDN'T GIVE US AN ANSWER. WE AREN'T GOING TO CONTINUE TO PAY FOR CONTROL MODULES BECAUSE THEY CAN'T FIX THE ISSUE. THE CAR WILL NOT START, THE BATTERY WAS TESTED TO BE GOOD. THE FAN WILL RUN AFTER THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. WHICH IN TURN DRAINS THE BATTERY. WOULD HAVE TO JUMP START THE CAR. THIS WOULD WORK FOR A FEW DAYS AND HAVE TO JUMP START IT AGAIN. THE MECHANIC DO NOT UNDERSTAND AND WILL HAVE TO SEE IT HAPPEN AGAIN TO UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM. ALL SYSTEMS SHOW NO ERROR MESSAGES. THIS HAS TO AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE FAN AND BATTERY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY WOULD SPORADICALLY BECOME STUCK INSIDE THE IGNITION SWITCH AND COULD NOT BE REMOVED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT WHEN THE DEFECT OCCURRED, THE ENGINE COULD NOT BE TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED A FUEL LEAK FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP) THAT COULD HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
RIGHT FRONT DOOR WIRING HARNESS IN HINGE AREA (FLEX POINT). WIRES BROKEN CAUSING DOOR LOCKS, POWER WINDOWS AND POWER MIRRORS TO BE INOPERABLE. *TR
GAS LEAKING FROM FUEL LINES. FUEL LINE AND FUEL PUMP COME TOGETHER SO I HAD TO REPLACE THE COMPLETE FUEL PUMP AT THE COST OF $961.58 SOME OF THE 2007 CHEVY EQUINOX ARE UNDER RECALL FOR FUEL LINE LEAKAGE, BUT NOT THIS ONE ACCORDING TO GM. . I WAS WONDERING WHY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP FAILED TO ILLUMINATE DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE PASSENGER'S SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD OFTEN SURPASS THE FULL OR EMPTY MARK ERRONEOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG MODULE AND INSTRUMENT PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
THE KEY WILL NOT RELEASE FROM THE IGNITION WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK AND TURNED OFF. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT ONE OUT OF EVERY FIVE TIMES THE CAR PARKS. I NORMALLY HAVE TO WAIT ABOUT 1 MINUTE FOR THE KEY TO RELEASE. SOMETIMES, IT WILL STILL NOT RELEASE AND I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON, PUT IT IN REVERSE AND GO A COUPLE FEET, THEN DRIVE FORWARD A COUPLE FEET, PUT IT IN PARK FOR THE KEY TO RELEASE. I MAY HAVE TO DO THIS 3-4 TIMES BEFORE, THE KEY WILL FINALLY RELEASE. *TR
I WAS COMING UPON A STOP SIGN, IT WAS SNOWING OUTSIDE SO I WAS DRIVING QUITE CAUTIOUSLY. AS I CAME TO THE STOP SIGN I SLID A BIT AND THEN THE SUV LOST ALL TRACTION AND THE BRAKE LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, SERVICE STABILITY CONTROL, AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ALL CAME ON. I THEN PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD RESTARTED THE SUV AND ALL LIGHTS CAME BACK ON AND I HAD NO ANTILOCK BRAKES, STABILITY CONTROL, OR TRACTION THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. IT WAS TERRIBLE. I HAVE NEVER FELT LIKE I HAD NO CONTROL OF A VEHICLE LIKE THAT BEFORE. I PARKED IT IN THE GARAGE AT HOME AND THE NEXT DAY STARTED IT AGAIN. ALL LIGHTS WENT OFF AND IT WAS FINE UNTIL SNOWFALL TODAY. THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHEN MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING IT. WE HAVE TRIED STARTING IT AGAIN BUT THE LIGHTS HAVE NOT YET WENT OUT. I WILL BE BRINGING THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP FIRST THING MONDAY MORNING WITH HOPES IT DOESN'T COST ME TOO MUCH TO GET IT FIX. I FEAR FOR OTHERS THAT WILL HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE ALWAYS BOUGHT CHEVROLETS BUT THIS HAS DEFINITELY MADE ME THINK TWICE ABOUT BUYING YET ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM THEM. I WOULD DEFINITELY CONSIDER THIS AN INCIDENT THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED. MY WIFE'S EQUINOX WAS TRAVELING AT AROUND 45 MPH WHEN AXLE BROKE AND CAUSED HER TO CRASH HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE CAUSING MINIMAL DAMAGE TO IT, THEN IT WEN DOWN A 10 FT EMBANKMENT AND HIT A CONCRETE WALL HEAD ON. SHE HAD TO BE CUT OUT OF VEHICLE AND CAR WAS TOTALED. THE AXLE BROKE IN HALF. WE BELIEVE THAT THIS CONTRIBUTED TO THE ACCIDENT.
MY 07 CHEVY EQUINOX IS LEAKING FROM THE GAS TANK ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. A VERY STRONG ODOR IS COMING INTO THE CAR I CALLED THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A ON GOING PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR EQUINOX BUT IT HASN'T BEEN RE CALLED . MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY SO I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THIS. MY CAR HAS 83K MILES ON IT. THE TANK TO REPLACE IS $674 PLUS LABOR BUT I FOUND THE TANK CHEAPER BUT STILL PAYING 600 TO HAVE IT FIXED. I LOOKED UP THIS PROBLEM AND THERE'S A TON OF CARS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM THIS IS SO DANGEROUS TO HAVE. I'M SO GLAD THAT WE NOTICED THIS PROBLEM TODAY BECAUSE WE ARE GOING ON VACATION IN TWO DAYS AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPEN DRIVING THIS CAR 800 MILES. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING CHEVY CAN DO FOR EVERYBODY THAT OWNS THIS CAR . I'M GOING TO CONTACT THE MEDIA OF THIS PROBLEM IF IT'S NOT RECALLED. *TR
THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG LIGHT GOES BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN ON AND NOT ON WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. SOMETIMES IT WORKS FINE FOR AN EXTENDED AMOUNT OF TIME. LEANING TO GET SOMETHING IN THE BACK SEAT CAN TRIGGER IT TO GO OFF AND STAY OFF.
KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF IGNITION WHEN CAR IS PLACED IN PARK. THE KEY IS STUCK IN ACCESSORY POSITION. CAR NEEDS TO BE TURNED BACK ON AND GEAR SELECTOR MOVED (AS WELL AS VEHICLE, STEERING ETC.) MANY TIMES BEFORE KEY WILL DISENGAGE FROM STEERING COLUMN. *TR
WHEN YOU TURN OFF CAR AND GO TO REMOVE THE KEYS THEY ARE STUCK IN THE IGNITION. YOU HAVE TO START THE CAR AGAIN AND USUALLY MOVE IT BEFORE YOU CAN REMOVE THE KEYS AND EVEN THEN IT USUALLY TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT ONE OUT OF EVERY FOUR TIMES I DRIVE THE CAR. *TR
I JUST TOOK MY EQUINOX TO THE CHEVY DEALER TODAY 7-10-2012 TO HAVE A GAS LEAK REPAIRED. I HAD BEEN SMELLING RAW FUEL SINCE FEB. OF THIS YEAR. RECENTLY SMELL HAD WORSENED,SO AT WORK WHILE ENJOYING MY LUNCH IN MY VEHICLE,WHILE PUTTING MY CIGARETTE OUT, I SMELLED GAS WORSE THAN EVER. GOT FLASHLIGHT AND LOOKED UNDER TRUCK TO SEE A GAS LEAK,WHICH I THOUGHT TO BE COMING FROM FILLER TUBE. ANYWAY GOT CALL FROM DEALER WHILE WRITING THIS, HE SAYS HE NEEDS TO DROP THE TANK, LEAK IS ON TOP,OH YEAH WARRANTY WON'T COVER. NICE! 934$ LATER I JUST ARRIVED HOME AND REPAIRMAN FROM CHEVY CALLS,SAYS HE'S NOT SURE HE TIGHTENED GAS TANK STRAPS. LOL YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME,SO I GO BACK STRAP IS FINE AND LEAK IS STOPPED. ITS TURNS OUT TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM 90% OF US HAVE HAD- FUEL PUMP FAILURE. MY QUESTION AT THIS POINT IS IF CHEVY DOES HAVE TO ISSUE A RECALL,WHAT ABOUT THOSE OF USE WHO ALREADY HAD TO GET THE REPAIR? DO WE GET NOTIFIED? MORE IMPORTANTLY DO WE GET REIMBURSED. *TR
ANYTIME WE START THE EQUINOX UP, ALL YOU SMELL IS RAW GASOLINE SMELL. IT FILLS UP THE CABIN, AND GIVES ME BAD HEADACHES. WE HAD LOOKED FOR OBVIOUS LEAKS BUT DIDN'T SEE ANY AT FIRST. WE WEREN'T LOSING MUCH IF ANY GAS MILEAGE, UNTIL THE LAST 2 TANKS WHEN IT'S GOTTEN WORSE. MY COWORKERS KNOW WHEN I GET TO WORK WITHOUT SEEING ME BECAUSE THE FUEL ODOR IS SO BAD, THEY CAN SMELL ME UPON ARRIVAL. I HAVE BEEN HAVING HEADACHES FREQUENTLY, AND SOMETIMES EVEN FEEL NAUSEATED. LAST MONDAY WAS THE FIRST TIME, MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING BEHIND ME IN OUR OTHER VEHICLE AND HE TOLD ME TO PULL OVER AT THE NEXT GAS STATION, BECAUSE I WAS ACTUALLY LEAKING FUEL THIS TIME. I WAS SCARED TO DEATH, HERE I STILL HAD ABOUT 20-25 MILES TO DRIVE BEFORE GETTING HOME, AND YET I AM LIKE A TRAVELING EXPLOSION WAITING TO HAPPEN. I RESEARCHED MONDAY NIGHT AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE TONS OF OTHERS IN OUR SAME BOAT. THIS IS A DANGER TO US, AND EVERYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD WHEN IT GETS READY TO BLOW. GM NEEDS TO BACK UP THEIR PRODUCTS AND DO A MANDATORY RECALL BEFORE PEOPLE GET KILLED FROM THEIR NEGLIGENCE. WE LIKE MOST OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN QUOTED WELL OVER $1000-1800 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. ON JAN. 30TH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SMELLED FUEL WHEN I PARKED THE CAR. NEXT DAY MY MECHANIC RAN A PRESSURE TEST ON FUEL SYSTEM AND WE COULD SEE FUEL RUNNING DOWN THE SIDES OF THE FUEL TANK. HE DROPPED THE TANK AND A POOL OF GASOLINE IS SITTING IN A DEPRESSED AREA ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK WHERE THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP IS LOCATED. THE GAS IS LEAKING WHERE THE FUEL PRESSURE LINE CONNECTS TO THE PIPE ON TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP SENDING UNIT. THIS APPEARS TO BE A HEAT SHRINKED WRAPPED CONNECTION ( NO CLAMPS ) WHICH HAS CRACKED CAUSING FUEL TO LEAK OUT AND DOWN THE SIDES OF THE FUEL TANK IN CLOSE VICINITY OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. MY MECHANIC REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP/FUEL MODULE/FUEL LINE ASSEMBLY ( YES, ITS ALL ONE UNIT ). SET ME BACK $ 1,200 DOLLARS AND NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY AND I HOPE THIS ONE'S NOT DEFECTIVE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND MANUFACTURE'S DEFECT AND I'M SHOCKED THERE HASN'T BEEN A SAFETY RECALL ON THIS ISSUE YET. PLEASE ORDER A MANDATORY RECALL, GM HAS GOT TO FIX THIS. *KB

ON JAN 15TH NOTICED STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE BY FUEL TANK. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER WHERE THEY FOUND FUEL SEEPING FROM FUEL PUMP MODULE AT CONNECTOR. THEY REPLACED FUEL PUMP MODULE WITH SENSOR. TOTAL COST WAS $1700. CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE AND AFTER THEY RESEARCHED THE ISSUE THEY REFUSED TO PAY ANYTHING SINCE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NO RECALL NOTICE. THE NHTSA NEEDS TO FORCE GM TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR KILLED! *TR
WE HAVE NOTICED A VERY DISTINCTIVE SMELL OF FUEL COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. IT WOULD HAPPEN COMING BACK FROM A DRIVE. COULD NOT FIND A LEAK. MECHANIC FOUND THE FUEL PUMP AND HOSES WERE CORRODED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME THING, CHEVROLET APPEARS TO NOT HAVE ANY CONCERNS BUT THE SMELL IS VERY STRONG AND COULD CAUSE A FIRE BECAUSE THE LEAK WILL PILL UP ON THE TANK, AT THE TOP NEAR THE HOSE CONNECTIONS. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND REPLACED. IT COST US $1,700 TO GET THIS REPLACED AND FINALLY FIXED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EMITTED A STRONG ODOR OF FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A FUEL LINE COMING FROM THE FUEL PUMP TO THE ENGINE WAS CRACKED. AS A RESULT, FUEL WOULD LEAK AND REST NEAR THE RESERVOIR NEXT TO THE TANK. THIS FAILURE CREATED A FIRE HAZARD. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE LEAK IN THE SAME WAY THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 84,000. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THERE WAS A LEAK COMING FROM THE FILLER NECK AND THE GAS TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. UPDATED 04/09/12
ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO, MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON MY EQUINOX. I HAVEN'T HAD ANY ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS BUT I FIND IT WEIRD THAT THE RECALL OF THE GM AUTOMOBILES HAVE THE SAME DEFECTS AND PROBLEMS AS MINES. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

AT THE DEALER (TOM CLARK CHEVROLET, MCKEESPORT, PA.) THE POWER STEERING LOCKED UP. THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR HAD FAILED. MY OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSE FOR REPLACEMENT IS $480.00. APPARENTLY MY WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THE EXPENSE. MY GUT FEELING TELLS ME THE WHOLE STABILITRAK/ POWER STEERING MOTOR ISSUE HAS BEEN KNOWN FROM DAY ONE AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYMENT ON DEFECTIVE PARTS/DESIGN. *TR
THE SERVICE AIRBAG MESSAGE APPEARS WHEN THERE IS A PERSON IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER SAID IT IS DUE TO THE PASSENGER PRESENCE MODULE. AN INTERNET SEARCH FOR "2007 EQUINOX PASSENGER PRESENCE MODULE" REVEALS THAT THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE PASSENGER PRESENCE SENSOR (PPS) ON THIS VEHICLE. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE SENSING SYSTEM/PART. THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD REPAIR THIS SYSTEM/PART BEFORE AN INJURY DUE TO THE DEFECT OCCURS. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER:12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: DELIVERY: FUEL PUMP). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
AFTER VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. THE KEY CANNOT BE REMOVED OUT OF THE IGNITION. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE FOR YEARS! IN ORDER TO PULL THE KEY OUT. YOU MUST EITHER TURN THE VEHICLE ON THEN TURN IT BACK OFF SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE FINALLY THE IGNITION ALLOWS YOU TO REMOVE THE KEY. THE OTHER WAY IT ALLOWS YOU TO PULL OUT THE KEY IS BY TURNING THE KEY WITHOUT TURNING THE VEHICLE ON THEN MOVING THE GEARS FROM PARK TO REVERSE THEN BACK TO PARK. IT JUST CONTINUES TO GET WORSE AND WORSE. IT IS A HUGE CONCERN TO ME BECAUSE I AM AFRAID THAT I WOULD BE UNABLE TO PULL OUT THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. APPROXIMATELY 5 YEARS AGO MY VEHICLE SHOWED AN AIRBAG SYSTEM ' PASSENGER SENSING PROBLEM, WHICH WAS OVERLOOKED BY THE DEALER, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD MY CAR ON THEIR WORKSHOPS AT LEAST TWICE A YEAR SINCE 2008 FOR MAINTENANCE AND OIL CHANGE. RECENTLY I FOUND ON THE WEB THE FMVSS NONCOMPLIANCE RECALL, BULLETIN 07174 DATED AUGUST 2007, WHICH CLEARLY INDICATES THAT THE PROBLEM OF MY VEHICLE IS DUE TO A GM SAFETY RECALL. HAVING HANDED THE BULLETIN TO THE LOCAL GM DEALER, THEY RELUCTANTLY PERFORMED THE SERVICE PROCEDURE AS INDICATED, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM WAS NOT SOLVED AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO PURSUE WITH THE SOLUTION AT NO CHARGE, NEITHER WILL THEY RECEIVE MY CAR AS PARTIAL PAYMENT FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE.
