HAVE HAD MY 07 EQUINOX FOR 1 MONTH AND 1 WEEK AND THE AREA IN THE BACK WHERE THE SPARE TIRE IS HAS FILLED WITH WATER MORE THAN ONCE. LAST NIGHT I WAS DRIVING IT IN THE RAIN AND A VERY LOUD VIBRATING NOISE CAME AND WENT AS I WAS DRIVING THE ENTIRE TRIP. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T FIND A LEAK. I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT MY BEARINGS TO MY ALTERNATOR ARE WORN. NOT VERY HAPPY WITH MY EXPENSIVE PURCHASE THAT IS TURNING INTO MORE EXPENSE AS I DIDN'T GET A WARRANTY. WHO NEEDS A WARRANTY ON A 2 YEAR OLD CAR? WELL APPARENTLY YOU NEED ONE ON A 2007 EQUINOX. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN MY PURCHASE. *TR
ON OCTOBER 19, 2009, I PURCHASED A CHEVROLET EQUINOX 2007. AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE I NOTICED CONDENSATION IN THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT HEADLIGHT LENS AND I WAS TOLD BY THE SALESMAN AT THE TIME THAT IT WOULD "BURN OFF" IF I KEPT THE LIGHTS ON. SINCE THAT TIME BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER HEADLIGHTS HAVE DEVELOPED THE CONDENSATION ISSUE. THE CONDENSATION DOES NOT BURN OFF JUST KEEPS ACCUMULATING TO THE POINT WHERE THE HEADLIGHT BULB WOULD JUST BURN OUT. IN THE PAST SIX YEARS I HAVE REPLACED THE VARIOUS BULBS IN THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY NINE TIMES AND THE BULB SOCKET ASSEMBLIES HAVE BEEN CORRODED AS A RESULT OF THE CONSTANT PRESENCE OF MOISTURE. OFTEN TIMES I WOULD BE DRIVING AT NIGHT WHEN THE BULBS WOULD GO OUT MAKING THIS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY STIFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED. APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND IT WAS REPAIRED. UPON RECEIVING THE VEHICLE FROM THE AUTHORIZED DEALER HE NOTICED THAT THE STEERING SERVICE LIGHT WAS STILL ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 15,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
PASSENGER SIDE SEAT AIRBAG SOMETIMES DOES NOT COME ON. CAN'T SEEM TO FIND THE PROBLEM. KIND OF A NERVE RACKING SITUATION. STEERING COLUMN DOES NOT LOCK WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF AND THE KEY REMOVED. NOT A GOOD FEELING WITH ALL THAT IS GOING ON WITH GM IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEMS.
TWO WEEKS AGO, STARTED SMELLING GASOLINE WHILE DRIVING. DIDN'T SEE ANY OBVIOUS LEAKAGE. TOOK TO SULLIVAN SATURN/CHEVROLET TO HAVE EMISSION REPAIR BUT THEY CAN'T IDENTIFY PROBLEM WITHOUT REMOVING GAS TANK. THEY CHARGE FOR THIS $500 WITHOUT KNOWING THE EXACT PROBLEM OR IF IT IS COVERED BY EMISSION WARRANTY. THE CAR IS TWO YEARS OLD AND THE LEAK, WHETHER EMISSION OR TANK SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. I THINK POSSIBLE DEFECT AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED AS A SAFETY ISSUE AND EMISSION ISSUE. *TR
WATER LEAKING INTO THE SPARE TIRE WELL. SIX INCHES OF WATER FOUND! DISCOVERED WHEN REAR SEAT FLOOR WAS SATURATED FROM THE SLOSHING IN THE SPARE TIRE AREA. FIRST 60,000 MILES VEHICLE WAS KEPT IN GARAGE. RECENTLY BEGAN LEAVING IT OUTSIDE, RAINY WEATHER OCCURRED, HENCE FLOODING OF SPARE TIRE AREA. DEALER DOES NOT ACCEPT AS "FACTORY DEFECT" GM BULLETIN DOCUMENT ID:2198426. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. HER VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO RECALL# 07V344000 (AIR BAGS, FRONTAL SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE). AFTER THE REPAIR SHE EXPERIENCED ALL OF THE SYMPTOMS OUTLINED IN THE DESCRIPTION OF THE RECALL AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY THE DEALER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 48200.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 CHEVY EQUINOX, AND I LOST MY STEERING. I HAD TO FIX THE PROBLEM, I COULD NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE CHEVY COBALT IS HAVING NOW. I CONTACTED GM FOR SOME ASSISTANCE, AND THEY DID NOTHING. I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT THE CHEVY COBALT MIGHT NOT BE THE ONLY VEHICLE THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM. LUCKILY FOR ME, I DID NOT HAVE A ACCIDENT, OR ANY OTHER ISSUES LISTED BELOW. *TR
THERE WERE NO EVENTS THAT LED UP TO FAILURE...THE AIR BAG LIGHT WILL STAY OFF EVEN THOUGH THE PASSENGER SEAT IS OCCUPIED AND ON THE DASH IT WILL READ, " SERVICE AIR BAG." I CALLED GM HOTLINE AND WAS TOLD THAT EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A TSB FOR THAT PROBLEM MY VEHICLE DID NOT FALL WITHIN THE SELECTED VIN NUMBERS AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED. *TR
EVEN THOUGH MY VIN DOES NOT COME UP AS HAVING AN ISSUE WITH THE PASSENGER AIR BAG DETECTOR IN MY SEAT, IT DOES NOT DETECT WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE SEAT AND WILL NOT COME ON.
PUT THE KEY IN IGNITION AND KEY WONT TURN. LIKE THE IGNITION IS STUCK. GOT TO FIDDLE WITH IGNITION FOR @ 15 MINUTES AND FINALLY ITS "POPS LOOSE" AND LETS ME START IT. *TR
AT 57,000 MILES THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING ON MY 2007 EQUINOX RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A RAIN STORM. I HAVE BEEN TOLD GM IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. I WOULD LIKE SOME ASSISTANCE FROM GM ON THE REPAIR. *TR
17" ALUMINUM WHEELS FREEZE TO THE REAR DISC BRAKE HUBS, REQUIRING SPECIAL TOOLS OR A SLEDGE HAMMER TO REMOVE. DEFECT MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO CHANGE A REAR WHEEL ON THE ROAD IN CASE OF A FLAT TIRE, POSSIBLY STRANDING THE DRIVER IN A REMOTE AREA OR IN DANGEROUS WEATHER CONDITIONS. WHEELS HAVE INSUFFICIENT CLEARANCE AROUND DISC BRAKE BEARING HUB. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES, DISCOVERED WHEN TIRES NEED TO BE ROTATED. *TR

I HAD TO HAVE MY TRUNK COMPARTMENT REPLACED AND SOME AREAS AROUND THE FRAME OF THE BODY RE-SEALED DUE TO EXCESS WATER ACCUMULATING IN THE SPARE TIME AREA. I WAS FIRST TOLD BY THE DEALER REPAIR SHOP THAT IT WAS A DEFECT BUT WHEN I REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT GM DENIED THAT THE DEALER EVER TOLD THEM THIS. I BELIEVE GM IS DENYING THAT THERE ARE SOME STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL AND MY FEAR IS THAT ANOTHER YEAR DOWN THE ROAD THERE WILL BE OTHER ISSUES WITH THE FRAME/BODY OF THIS MODEL VEHICLE. ALSO, IT BOTHERS ME THAT WE ARE ENCOURAGED TO "BUY AMERICAN" BUT THE AMERICAN CAR MAKERS DO NOT WANT TO STAND UP TO THEIR PROMISE OF GOOD MAKEMANSHIP. I AM DISAPPOINTED AND ESPECIALLY WITH THE DISHONESTY AT THE CORPORATE LEVEL OF THIS CORPORATION. *TR

THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION AT ANY SPEED BEING DRIVEN WITH AN OCCUPANT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,835.
WE OWN A 2007 EQUINOX, OUR FRIEND STATED THAT HIS EQUINOX HAD WATER IN THE SPARE TIRE COMPARTMENT. WE HAVE BEEN GETTING SICK FOR A WHILE AND DIDN'T KNOW WHY. WE LOOKED IN OUR SPARE TIRE COMPARTMENT AND THERE WAS A FOOT OF WATER. NOW WE CANNOT DRIVE THIS VEHICLE FOR HEALTH REASONS. GM KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR THERE ARE 3 SERVICE BULLETINS FOR THIS PROBLEM. THEY WILL NOT HELP US WITH A TRADE ASSIST AND WE CANNOT DRIVE IT DUE TO THE MOLD. WE HAVE CONDENSATION IN THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND HAVE TO WIPE IT OFF WITH A TOWEL BEFORE WE CAN DRIVE IT. THE VEHICLE IS FULL OF MOLD! I'M SURE THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN LEAKING SINCE DAY ONE! *TR
THE STABILITRAC COMES ON IT SEEMS EVERY 4-6 MONTHS AND EACH TIME I TAKE TO THE DEALER (TWICE SINCE PURCHASE) THEY MAKE ADJUSTMENTS BUT THE LIGHT/ISSUE COMES BACK. WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON AND IT RAINS THE TRACTION ON THE SURFACE IS TERRIBLE! THE VEHICLE PULLS AND PRESENTS AN ISSUE OF SAFETY FOR THE DRIVER. *TR

SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY ARE CHARGING $600 TO REPAIR THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE DOES NOT HAVE THE MONEY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
2007 CHEVY EQUINOX TURNED OFF AUTOMATICALLY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HWY, THEN WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS, WOULD KICK BACK ON, BUT THEN TURN OFF AGAIN. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WAIT FOR ABOUT 10 MINS, THEN IT STARTED AGAIN. THIS TIME ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME. TURNED IT INTO THE MCKINNEY CHEVY DEALERSHIP ON 4/11/09 AND FOUND OUT THAT OXYGEN SENSOR WENT OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MILEAGE ON CAR IS ONLY 44,352 AND I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS! I CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS OVER AND OVER AGAIN WITH VEHICLE TURNING OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING. IT'S 4/18/09 TODAY AND IT'S DOING IT AGAIN. I'LL HAVE TO TURN VEHICLE BACK INTO DEALERSHIP AGAIN ON MONDAY. THIS VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE! I AM STUCK IN THIS VEHICLE FINANCIALLY AND TEXAS LEMON LAW DOES NOT PROTECT ME! 2007 CHEVY EQUINOX, WITH 43,717 MILES, STABILITRAK LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR WOULD NOT START. HAD TO BE JUMP STARTED AND THEN WHILE TRYING TO DRIVE, THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE OR TURN. CAR WOULD WANT TO TURN OFF EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. TURNED INTO MCKINNEY CHEVY DEALERSHIP, AND THEY REPLACED ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS) FUSE. *TR
FOUND TIRE PARTIALLY FLAT AFTER BEING PARKED OVERNIGHT,( APPROX 14 LBS AIR LEFT IN TIRE) DROVE VEHICLE TO GAS STATION NEARBY TO FILL WITH AIR. FILLED TIRE WITH AIR,WHEN REMOVING THE AIR CHUCK FORM VALVE STEM THE TIP OF THE VALVE STEM BROKE OFF EJECTING THE VALVECORE AND THUS THE TIRE RAPIDLY STARTED LOOSING AIR. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I FOUND THAT THE VALVE STEM WAS NOT MADE OF STEEL OR BRASS BUT OF ALUMINUM. I HAD TO HAVE THE WHOLE VALVE COMPONENT REPLACED AT MY LOCAL DEALER AND THE TIRE WAS CHECKED FOR LEAKAGE AND SINCE THE VALVE WAS REPLACED IT HAS MAINTAINED AIR. THIS VALVE UNIT IS ON A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS COMPONENT AND FOUND THAT IT IS MADE BY SIEMANS-VDO A CONTINENTAL CORP. I THOUGHT I WOULD MAKE YOU AWARE OF THIS SINCE I FEEL THIS COULD RESULT IN SOME SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THESE VALVE STEMS SHOULD BE MADE OF STEEL SINCE THEY ARE AN EXTERIOR COMPONENT, SUBJECT TO SOME ABUSE(IE:CURBS,MUDDY ROADS,CAR WASHES ETC.) *TR
TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM ACTIVATED AT APPROX 50MPH DUE TO WATER ON ROAD. DURING TRACTION SYSTEM OPERATION, THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED TO A LOWER GEAR, CAUSING PARTIAL LOSS OF CONTROL AND PATH DEVIATION INTO THE ADJACENT LANE. THIS HAS RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATED WHEN A PASSENGER WOULD SIT IN THAT SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FRONT SEAT MODULE CONNECTOR WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE ENTIRE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V344000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I HAVE A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. INTERMITTENTLY, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG "ON/OFF INDICATOR SHOWS "AIR BAG OFF" WITH A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT. THIS OCCUR WITH PASSENGERS WEIGHING FROM 100LBS. TO 200LBS. THE ONLY WAY I CAN GET THE "AIR BAG ON" INDICATOR TO WORK IN BY TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND THEN RESTARTING THE ENGINE. I OFTEN MUST REPEAT THIS PROCEDURE SIX OR EIGHT TIME BEFORE THE "AIR BAG ON" INDICATOR IS ILLUMINATED. THE LOCAL DEALER HAS REPLACED THE PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE TO NO AVAIL. THEY SAY THAT THIS IS AN ISOLATED PROBLEM & THERE IS NO CORRECTION. THIS OPINION WAS ECHOED DURING PHONE CONVERSATIONS WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSONNEL AT GENERAL MOTORS. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS MATTER, ON A LOCAL LEVEL FOR APPROX. 18MOS. WITH ANY PROGRESS THIS REPRESENTS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY PROBLEM FOR MY PASSENGERS I'VE SEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON YOUR WEB SITE & NOTE THAT YOUR RECORDS SHOW 57 COMPLAINTS FOR THIS PARTICULAR AUTO. ELEVEN (20%) WERE FOR THE PROBLEM I'VE DESCRIBED IN THIS COMPLAINT. I BELIEVE THERE IS JUSTIFICATION FOR A RECALL OR OTHER REMEDIATION. INCIDENT HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE10/08. INCIDENT DATE BELOW IS LATEST INCIDENT. *TR
1997 EQUINOX PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR INTERMITTENT. ROSE CHEVROLET CLAIMS THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR UNDER WARRANTY THAT THEY HAD TO WAIT 3 DAYS FOR. AS MY WIFE WAS DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE REALIZED THAT HER SISTER HAD NO AIRBAG. THE DISPLAY SAID IT WAS OFF AGAIN. MY WIFE COULD NOT RESET THE PROBLEM AT THAT TIME W/O TURNING THE CAR OFF/ON AND HOPING IT WOULD SEE THAT HER SISTER WAS INDEED SITTING THERE. WILL BE TAKING THIS BACK TO ROSE CHEVROLET IN HAMILTON OH AGAIN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, A SERVICE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, WHICH READ "SERVICE STABILITY TRACK AND ENGINE POWER REDUCED". THE VEHICLE STALLS AND STOPS AND, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. THE CONTACT HAS TO WAIT AND CONTINUOUSLY APPLY PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY TRAVEL APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WERE NO CURRENT FAILURES. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT NO COMPENSATION WOULD BE MADE BECAUSE THERE WERE NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES DISPLAYING THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER CALLED THE DEALER AND HAD THE RECORDS CHECKED FOR EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

THE VEHICLE THEN DECELERATED ABNORMALLY AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 20 MPH. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE INTERIOR FLOOR OF MY 2007 CHEVY EQUINOX IS WET. THERE IS A LEAK SOMEWHERE IN THIS VEHICLE AND WHEN I GOOGLED "MY EQUINOX LEAKS" THERE ARE MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I NOTICED A SMELL IN THE CAR A FEW MONTHS AGO AND CLEANED THE ENTIRE CAR FROM TOP TO BOTTOM AND FOUND NOTHING THAT WOULD CAUSE ANY ORDERS. THIS ORDER SMELLS LIKE MOLD AND CHEMICALS MIXED TOGETHER. FIRST PROBLEM HAPPENED RECALL ON SPARK PLUG BOOT 1 CYLINDER WASN'T FIRING, WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY AS WAS THE GASKET FOR THE HATCHBACK WAS BAD. RECENTLY, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 3-4 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A POPPING NOISE WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN. THE VEHICLE ALSO BEGAN TO VIBRATE. WHEN SHE APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GAIN SPEED AND BEGAN VIBRATING UNCONTROLLABLY. SHE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO DEFECTS WITH THE VEHICLE. GM STATES TO STAY IN RENTAL VEHICLE SINCE TRUCK IS A SAFETY LIABILITY & SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN. 03/05/08 GM REP STATES THAT, ALTHOUGH HE DOES NOT AGREE, THE FIELD MGR STATED THAT WHEN A PASSENGER IS PRESENT THEY NEED TO WATCH FOR THE "AIR BAG OFF" LIGHT TO BE ILLUMINATED & THE PASSENGER NEEDS TO WIGGLE AROUND AND MOVE UNTIL IT GOES OUT. SHE MANDATED THAT WE RETURN THE RENTAL CAR IMMEDIATELY AS GM WOULD NOT PAY FOR IT & WE NEEDED TO RETRIEVE OUR TRUCK SINCE IT WAS WORKING AS DESIGNED. UNBELIEVING THAT THIS WOULD ACTUALLY BE GM'S STANCE ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY HAVE A VOLUNTARY RECALL OUT ON THIS EXACT ISSUE IN THIS VEHICLE (GM RECALL 07174) I ASKED HIM TO CONFIRM THAT HE WAS TELLING ME TO PICK UP THE TRUCK THEY HAD BEEN TELLING ME WAS UNSAFE FOR PASSENGERS KNOWING THAT THERE WOULD BE A NEED FOR PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE, HE SAID THAT WASN'T HIS DECISION & THERE WAS NOTHING MORE HE COULD DO. AFTER DRIVING FOR HOURS AT SPEEDS UP TO 70 MPH (CT TO GA) THE (DRIVE LINE?) HUM BECOMES A VIBRATION ON SMOOTH ASPHALT ROAD SURFACES.
