TL *THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WATER COLLECTED INSIDE THE SPARE TIRE WHEEL WELL. AS A RESULT, THE AROMA OF MILDEW WAS PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE'S INTERIOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
TOOK MY 2007 EQUINOX TO DEALERSHIP WHERE I BUT IT IN MAY OF 2007 TO TELL THEM ABOUT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG NOT WORKING CORRECTLY WHEN CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS LUKE MYSELF WERE SITTING IN PASSENGER SEAT AND I WAS TOLD NOTHING THEY COULD DO THAT I JUST NEEDED TO CARRY A GALLON OF WATER ON MY LAP BECAUSE I WAS TO SMALL. FYI I WEIGH 120. ALSO THE KEY KEEPS GETTING STUCK IN THE IGNITION I THINK THIS IS VERY UNSAFE ALONG WITH THE AIRBAG. WOULD LIKE A RESPONSE ASAP MY EQUINOX ONLY HAS 42000 MILES .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE GASOLINE FUEL FUMES IN THE REAR OF THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL TUBE THAT ENTERED THE FUEL TANK EXHIBITED A LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM; GASOLINE), HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE APPROACHING THE VEHICLE, HE SMELLED GASOLINE. THE CONTACT COULD SMELL GASOLINE INSIDE THE VEHICLE AS WELL. THE VEHICLE ALSO FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC, WHO ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL LEAK. THE REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL GASOLINE) BUT DID NOT CONFIRM WITH THE MANUFACTURER IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
ON SATURDAY MAY 25, 2013 MY 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX WOULD NOT START. THE KEY HAD GOTTEN STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND I DID NOT REMOVE IT AND I THINK THAT KILLED THE BATTERY. I TRIED TO JUMP START THE CAR WITH NO SUCCESS. FINALLY ON SUNDAY MAY 26,2013 I HAD A PROFESSIONAL COME JUMP START IT. AFTER IT STARTED THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND THE STABILITRAK WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S CAUSING IT. I READ IN THE FORUM THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL OTHER EQUINOX'S WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I THINK IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKES MADE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
ON 05/05/13 MY 7 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER NOTICED THAT THE BACKSEAT FLOORBOARDS WHERE WET. IT'S BEEN RAINING A LOT SO I SHRUGGED IT OFF WITHOUT CHECKING. ON 05/06/13 I NOTICED PUDDLING IN THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE FLOORBOARD. REMEMBERING WHAT MY 7 YEAR OLD HAD SAID I LOOKED BACK TO FIND STANDING WATER IN THE BACK SEAT FLOOR BOARDS!!! I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND CHECKED THE SPARE TIRE WELL AS RECOMMENDED. IT HAD STANDING WATER! I CALLED THE DEALERSHIPS SERVICE CENTER AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $265 FOR A "WATER LEAK DIAGNOSTIC". THEN I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR WHATEVER THE ISSUE IS BECAUSE I AM NOT UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE 2 CHILDREN AND AM WORRIED ABOUT MOLD. NOT SURE HOW I AM GOING TO FIX THIS WITHOUT BANKRUPTING. I SUCKED IT ALL OUT WITH A WET VAC AND WILL CONTINUE TO WORK ON THE CARPET EVERY DAY. SOMEONE HELP!! *TR

THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WAS LEAKING FUEL, AS DISCOVERED BY MY MECHANIC. THE PUMP HAD TO BE CHANGED AT GREAT EXPENSE. WHY HAS THIS PROBLEM NOT BEEN ADDRESSED ACROSS THE BOARD FOR EQUINOX, INSTEAD OF SELECTIVE STATE REGISTERED AS MENTIONED IN THE GM RECALL ? I COULD HAVE HAD A POTENTIAL FIRE HAD I NOT DETECTED FUEL FUMES WHEN I DID. THANK YOU, *TR
ABOUT A MONTH AGO WE STARTED SMELLING GAS BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. AFTER A FEW WEEKS THE VEHICLE WAS STARTING TO HAVE TROUBLE STARTING WHERE IT WOULD SOUND LIKE THE CAR WAS "FLOODED" AND WOULDN'T TURN OVER RIGHT AWAY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP TODAY AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A CRACKED FUEL MODULE SYSTEM THAT WAS LEAKING FUEL. I HAVE READ THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS PART ON THIS PARTICULAR EQUINOX AND THERE IS EVEN A RECALL ON THE PART BUT IN ONLY 4 STATES WHICH ISN'T FAIR TO REST OF THE OWNERS THAT ARE SUFFERING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
THE CAR STARTS TO JERK WHILE DRIVING ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. THE TRANSMISSION JERKS AND THE TRACTIONS CONTROL MAKES THE CAR BECOME UNDRIVABLE. THE COMPUTER IN THE CAR IS DEFECTED I PURCHASED THE CAR LAST YEAR IN 2013 AND THE CAR COMPUTER TRANSMISSION IS NO GOOD. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR IF THE CONTACT HAD A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED AT DEALER. ON THIS DAY APRIL 8, 13 WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SUNROOF OF MY 2007 EQUINOX LS FLEW OFF. *TR
FUEL PUMP LEAK - AGAIN - STILL NO FLORIDA RECALL - EVEN THOUGH OTHER STATES HAVE RECALLED FOR SAME LEAK! *TR
THE POWER STEERING COMPUTER MODULAR FAILED ON 3/26/13. THERE WAS NO WARNING OR RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. THIS WAS UNEXPECTED AND CAUSED ME A GREAT DEAL OF STRESSED. I HAD TO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE ALERTS ME ON EVERYTHING ELSE, SUCH AS LOW GAS, CHANGE OIL, ETC...YET IT DO NOT ALERT ME OF A MAJOR PROBLEM? *TR
I BEGAN SMELLING FUMES COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. IT GO SO BAD, I HAD TO STOP PARKING MY CAR IN MY GARAGE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER, DALE EARNHARDT CHEVROLET ON TENNESSEE STREET IN TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA, AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS ON THE RECALL. HOWEVER, I WAS TOLD THAT THE 2007 CHEVY EQUINOX IS LISTED UNDER PHASE 2 OF THE RECALL AND THEY ARE ONLY DEALING WITH THE PHASE 1 VEHICLES. IN ADDITION, GM HAS NOT COME UP WITH THE NEW FUEL PUMPS TO REPLACE THE BAD ONES. THUS, IF I WANT IT FIXED, I WOULD HAVE TO GO TO THE NAPA STORE AND PURCHASE A FUEL PUMP (I BELIEVE THIS WOULD BE A NON-GM PART) AND THEN HAVE THEN INSTALL IT AT A COST OF OVER $1,100.00 TO ME. I THEN CONTACTED THE HOME OFFICE FOR GM AND THE "DISTRICT SPECIALIST", ROD, TOLD ME THAT THE ENGINEERS HAVE DETERMINED THAT DESPITE THE NATIONWIDE RECALL, THAT THE FUEL PUMP WILL NOT BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. I ADVISE HIM OF ALL THE ON LINE DOCUMENTATION REGARDING THE RECALL AND HE TOLD ME THEY DON'T READ THOSE OR ACKNOWLEDGE THOSE SO I AM OUT OF LUCK. I ASKED FOR THE PHONE NUMBER TO THE HOME OFFICE AND HE SAID NO ONE KNOWS IT AND THAT I COULD JUST CONTACT THEM VIA THEIR P.O. BOX. *TR
THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD WENT FROM AN "ON" TO "OFF" STATUS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE WITH AN ADULT PASSENGER ABOARD AND THE SEATBELT FASTENED. WE HAD THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER, BOB FISHER CHEVROLET, READING, PA, FOR AN INSPECTION AND OIL CHANGE - AND ALSO REPORTED THIS INSTANCE. MY WIFE WAS CALLED AND TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL EFFECTING OUR VIN. ALSO THAT IT WOULD NOT REACT AS DESCRIBED "AT THAT TIME". REFERENCE GM NOTICE #07174 DATED AUG 22, 2007. THE DEALER STATED THAT AS OUR VIN WAS NOT IN THE "RANGE RECALLED" THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PROPERLY FIX THE PROBLEM AS GM WOULD NOT REIMBURSE THEM. SO, WHAT DOES CONSTITUTE GM'S AND THE DEALERS RESPONSIBILITIES WHEN THERE IS SOME SORT OF OBVIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM? *TR

2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP MODULE RECALL NOTICE. *SMD WHEN THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER, HE WAS INFORMED, THE REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
2007 CHEVY EQUINOX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BRAKES MALFUNCTION. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE STARTED BRAKING ON ITS OWN AND THEN CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE TRACTION CONTROL AND STABILTRAK LIGHTS BLINKED ON AND OFF. THE CONSUMER STATED IT HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, SO THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. AN INSPECTION REVEALED CONTAMINATED BRAKE FLUID. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER IT WOULD COST $4,000 TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE FIRST REPAIR SHOP, WHERE THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER, BRAKE BOOSTERS AND BRAKE HOSES WERE REPLACED AT A COST OF $ 1215.31. THE VEHICLE PERFORMED WELL, FOR THREE WEEKS, UNTIL A HEAVY RAIN CAUSED THE TRACTION CONTROL AND STABILTRAK LIGHT TO FLICKER AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO BRAKE AGAIN WITHOUT DRIVER ACTIVATION.
WATER CONSTANTLY GETTING IN THE ENCASING AND BULB IS BLOWING OUT. REPLACED BULB 5 TIMES IN ONE MONTH. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND THE VIN WERE UNAVAILABLE.
ON 7 FEB. 2013 I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AS THERE WAS A CONSTANT SMELL OF FUEL. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK WOULD NEED TO BE DROPPED TO LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE FUEL LEAK THOUGH THERE WAS NO VISIBLE SIGN OF LEAKING FUEL. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL MODULE THAT SET ABOVE THE FUEL TANK HAD CRACKED AND WAS CAUSING THE SMELL/LEAK. I WAS INFOMED THAT TO REPAIR THE ISSUE IT WOULD COST ME OVER $1200.00 TO REPAIR. I CONTACTED GM AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN THE CURRENT RECALL THAT IS ONGOING IN FOUR OTHER STATES. I INQUIRED AS TO WHY AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT REGISTERED NOR DID I RESIDE IN ONE OF THE STATES AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I INFORMED GM THAT IT SHOULD NOT MATTER AS TO WERE I LIVED THAT THEY SHOULD RECALL ALL EQUINOX AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE CORRECTED. I WAS GIVEN REFERENCE # FROM GM IN CASE THERE IS A DECISION TO RECALL THE EQUINOX FOR THIS PROBLEM. AS OTHER COMPLAINTS HAVE STATED IT SHOULD NOT MATTER WERE THE VEHICLE IS REGISTERED IF THERE IS THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM IT SHOULD BE FIXED BY GM AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR FELT SLUGGISH. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND FOUND THROTTLE BODY ASM/TPS REGISTERS INCORRECTLY. REPLACED THROTTLE BODY ASM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT COULD NOT GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION KEY ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62000.
FUEL PUMP IS BROKEN FROM MANUFACTURE ISSUE, CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE, CHEVY HAS RECALLED IN CERTAIN STATES HOWEVER NOT NATIONWIDE.....NEEDS TO BE A NATIONAL RECALL. *TR
ON 1/28/13 I REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AT GM CERTIFIED DEALER. TRUCK WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CODE P2135 FOR FAILED THROTTLE BODY AND CONNECTOR. WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 CHEVY EQUINOX IT DISPLAYED SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILTRAK, ENGINE POWER REDUCING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. ON 7/5/13 I RETURNED MY TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER. THEY DIAGNOSED THE TRUCK AGAIN AND REPLACED THE PART A SECOND TIME. NOW ON 8/19/13 THE TRUCK WAS BACK AT THE DEALER FOR THIRD TIME AND SAME ISSUE. DEALER DIAGNOSED MY TRUCK AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AT THE TIME AFTER I COMPLAINED OF SAME ISSUE DISPLAYED ON VEHICLE. 9/11/13 THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL/STABILTRAK WITH CHECK ENGINE CAME ON AGAIN. I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER AND SHOWED THEM VIDEO OF THE PROBLEM HAPPENING. THIS TIME THEY SAID THEY WOULD DIAGNOSED IT AND GET TO THE BOTTOM OF MY COMPLAINT. I CALLED GM THAT DAY COMPLAINING OF THE SAME ISSUE FROM LAST MONTH. GM REOPENED MY CASE AND SAID IT WOULD BE TRANSFERRED TO ANOTHER DEPARTMENT LEVEL. THE DEALER CALLED ME LATER IN THE DAY AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND CONNECTORS FREE OF CHARGE AGAIN. EVERY TIME WHILE DRIVING THIS TRUCK I WAS TRAVELING WITH MY CHILDREN AND ALMOST HAD ACCIDENTS WITH THIS. THIS IS UNSAFE AND GM NEEDS TO HAVE A RECALL ON THIS PART AND MODEL OF TRUCK. SOME THING HAS TO BE DONE BEFORE IT BECOMES FATAL!!! HOPEFULLY THIS TIME THE PROBLEM IS CORRECTED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. DURING THE WINTER I BEGAN TO HEAR WATER MOVING AROUND SOMEWHERE IN MY VEHICLE AS I DROVE AROUND BUT HAD NO IDEA WHERE THIS SOUND WAS COMING FROM. I WAS VACUUMING MY VEHICLE ONE DAY AND THE CARPET WAS COMPLETELY SOAKED. I BEGAN TO RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND THAT MANY EQUINOX OWNERS HAD LEAK PROBLEMS AND THEY HAD FOUND WATER HAD ACCUMULATED IN THE SPARE TIRE WELL. I CHECKED THE SPARE TIRE WELL AND SURE ENOUGH APPROXIMATELY 9 INCHES OF WATER HAD ACCUMULATED IN THERE. I CLEARED OUT THAT WATER BUT WATER IS STILL SOMEWHERE IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE I CAN HEAR IT AS I DRIVE, WATER ALSO LEAKS THROUGH THE OVERHEAD LIGHTING. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY ADVISED I BRING THE VEHICLE TO ONE OF THEIR REPAIR SHOPS FOR ASSESSMENT, THE SHOP STATED THE PROBLEM IS THE SUNROOF MODULE AT A COST $2600. AFTER THIS ASSESSMENT GM NOTIFIED ME THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO OFFER REPAIR ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, SOMETHING THEY KNEW PRIOR TO REQUESTING I BRING THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOP AND HAVING ME SPEND APPROXIMATELY $200. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING ISSUE WHICH MANY EQUINOX CUSTOMERS HAVE AND GM IS NOT ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY FOR. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO GET AWAY WITH THIS. I AM NOW STUCK WITH A VEHICLE THAT HOLDS WATER IN THE BODY, A CARPET WHICH HAS GOTTEN WET AND WILL MORE THAN LIKELY CONTINUE TO GET WET SO IT HAS A CONSTANT ODOR AND A VEHICLE WHICH LEAKS THROUGH THE OVERHEAD LIGHTING, SEEMS VERY UNSAFE. THE WATER TRAPPED IN THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE WILL MORE THAN LIKELY CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO RUST AND PERHAPS EVEN CAUSE MORE SERIOUS PROBLEMS. THIS IS NOT FAIR TO THE CONSUMER, GM SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE DEFECT IN THIS AND OTHER EQUINOX VEHICLES, TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THE REPAIR OF THIS DEFECT IS THE LEAST GM CAN DO FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS. *TR
THE EQUINOX APPEARS TO HAVE A FUEL SYSTEM FAILURE. I HAVE LOOKED UP EQUINOX RECALLS AND THERE ARE OVER 40,000 OF THE SAME YEAR, MAKE MODEL, MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED. THE CAR HAS A STRONG GAS SMELL COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE CAR. I HAVE READ TESTIMONY AFTER TESTIMONY ONLINE OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL ALSO NOT BEING INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. LAST YEAR WE HAD TO REPLACE THE EGR VALVE AS WELL AND IT APPEARS IT IS IN SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCE. (REGISTERING HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR IT'S FAILURE AS WELL) WE WOULD CERTAINLY LIKE GM TO MAKE A TOTALLY RECALL ON THE FUEL SYSTEM FAILURE THAT IS EVIDENTIALLY EXTREMELY MORE WIDE SPREAD THAN THEY ARE ACKNOWLEDGING. THE DEALERSHIP HAS SAID IT IS MORE THAN LIKELY GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE PUMP STARTING AT $900, AS A TEACHER THIS IS NOT A REASONABLE FEAT. I WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN FROM A PARKING LOT ONTO A MAIN STREET. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN WITHOUT GREAT FORCE AND I ENDED UP ON WRONG SIDE OF ROAD. I GOT THE CAR TO A REPAIR PLACE AND WAS TOLD THE POWER STEERING MOTOR HAD BURNT UP AND THE STABILIZER LIGHT HAD JUST CAME ON. THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT ANY FOREWARNING. I WAS LUCKY THERE WAS NOT ANY TRAFFIC OR I WOULD OF BEEN INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. I NOW UNDERSTAND THIS IS VERY COMMON WITH THIS VEHICLE AND SHOULD OF BEEN A RECALL BY GENERAL MOTORS. SOMETIMES THE IGNITION FREEZES UP AND DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO REMOVE THE KEY. ALTHOUGH THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME IT HAPPENS ENOUGH TO BE A CONCERN. IF IN A MALL PARKING LOT IT COULD RENDER ONE IN A DANGEROUS POSITION OF NOT BEING ABLE TO TAKE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. SO, I WAS LEFT WITH NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE BUT TO ATTEMPT TO FIX THE PROBLEM MYSELF. AFTER THE HOSES, CLAMPS, RESTRAINTS, AND TANK WAS REMOVED IT WAS APPARENT THAT I COULD NOT FIX IT SO I HAD A MECHANIC TO COME OUT, PROCEED WITH REMOVING AND REPLACING THE LEAKING LINES AND HOSES AND REASSEMBLING THE TANK BACK ONTO THE VEHICLE'S UNDERCARRIAGE. OF COURSE THIS WOULD END UP COSTING ME 9 ARMS AND 3 LEGS BUT AT THAT TIME THE CHEVROLET DEALER IN TUPELO MS. INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL IN EFFECT FOR MY PROBLEM BUT THAT HIS STAFF WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO CHECK OUT MY PROBLEM AND FIX AND REPLACE ANY BROKEN AND OR DEFECTED PARTS BUT THEY WOULD ONLY DO SO IF AND WHEN I DELIVERED MY VEHICLE TO THEIR SHOP, ALSO AT MY EXPENSE. A FEW MONTHS AFTER ALL THIS HAPPENED AND A FEW MONTHS AGO, GM SENT OUT A BROCHURE STATING THAT THERE WAS INDEED A RECALL REGARDING MY SPECIFIC PROBLEM AND THAT I SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION TO GET MY VEHICLE TO THE GM DEALER (CLOSEST ONE FROM PONTOTOC BEING TUPELO - DEALERSHIP NAME WITHHELD) WHERE IT WOULD BE PROFESSIONALLY REPAIRED FREE OF ANY CHARGES TO ME. IF THERE INDEED IS OR EVER WAS A RECALL COVERING MY PROBLEM, SHOULDN'T THERE ALSO BE A REINSTATEMENT FEE ASSOCIATED WITH IT FOR VICTIMS THAT HAVE BEEN MISINFORMED OR WHO'S PROBLEM INITIATED BEFORE THE ACTUAL RECALL WENT INTO EFFECT OR IS THIS JUST ANOTHER WAY THE AUTO COMPANIES MAKE MORE MONEY OFF THE SAME INDIVIDUALS THAT PAID THE PRICE TO BAIL THEM OUT IN THE FIRST PLACE?
