TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL REPAIRS FOR THE BLOWER RESISTOR, THE BLOWER FAILED AND AS A RESULT THE WIRING HARNESS AND CONTROL MODULE STARTED TO MELT DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE WHICH WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO PAY HALF OF THE REPAIR COST. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 112,000.

WIND SHIELD WIPER DOES NOT SWITCH OFF EVEN IF IT IN ON OFF POSITION. ONCE CAR STARTS UP, WIND SHIELD TURNS ON AND COULD NOT BE TURNED OFF. *TR
MODULES LOCATED UNDERNEATH THE FRONT CABIN OF VEHICLE WHICH CONTROLS HEAT/COOL AIR (DEFROSTER) BECOME INOPERABLE. *TR
WHILE PARKED ON THE STREET, LOCKED AND NOT IN USE FOR 7 DAYS, A FIRE APPARENTLY STARTED IN THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR. IT WAS SIGNIFICANTLY DAMAGED AND SPREAD TO THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WELL AND LEFT FRONT BUMPER COWLING, BEFORE IT WAS PUT OUT WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. THE GM INVESTIGATOR HAS INDICATED THAT IT IS THEIR DETERMINATION THAT THE PROBLEM STARTED EXTERNAL TO THE VEHICLE. *NM

DT: VENTURE VAN. ON THE FIRST DAY OWNING THE VEHICLE WINDSHIELD MADE A LOUD WHISTLING SOUND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE DEALER HAS HAD IT 4 TIMES, AND REPLACED THE SEALING MATERIAL, BUT IT STILL WHISTLES. IT IS LOOSE, AND A SAFETY HAZARD. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAYS THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG IN THE EPOXY SEALANT THAT WAS INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY. SOME SEALANT WAS ADDED TO THE CENTER TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD, BUT IT STILL WHISTLES. ON THE 27TH, AFTER THE NEW WINDSHIELD AND SEALANT WAS ADDED THE WINDSHIELD BLEW OUT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.*AK

WHILE DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER THE WINDOWS WILL NOT WORK. THE WINDOWS DOES NOT COME DOWN. CONSUMER STATES HE HAS HAD THE PROBLEM WITH THE WINDOWS SINCE HE HAS HAD THE VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *NM
2004 DURAMAX WILL NOT DEFROST WINDSHIELD OR WARM CAB AFTER 1 HOUR PLUS OF IDLE OPERATION. IF WINDSHIELD IS SCRAPED IT FOGS OVER WHEN OPERATED DOWN THE ROAD TO WARM THE ENGINE. THIS PROBLEM, FROM FREEZING TEMP. AND WORSENS AS THE TEMP. DROPS. I PURCHASED VEHICLE 10-30-2003 AND GM SERVICE SAYS THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY TRUCK. IS THIS TRUE THAT THEY ARE ALLOWED TO DESIGN AND SELL A VEHICLE IN THIS CLIMATE THAT WILL NOT WARM UP ENOUGH TO DEFROST THE WINDOWS IN SUCH A PERIOD OF TIME. OPERATION OF THIS VEHICLE IS NEITHER SAFE FOR MYSELF OR ANYONE ON THE ROAD. *NM

THE ELECTRIC SIDE MIRRORS ON THIS TRUCK ARE WAY TOO SMALL. SPECIFICALLY, THEY ARE TOO SHORT. UPON INQUIRING AT THE GM DEALER, I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY CANNOT BE CHANGED DUE TO THE ONBOARD COMPUTER WILL NOT ACCEPT ANYTHING BUT THE ORIGINAL. THEY CANNOT EVEN BE CHANGED TO A MANUAL MIRROR. UPON INQUIRING AT A LOCAL TRUCK AFTERMARKET STORE, I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY HAVE HEARD THIS MANY TIMES BEFORE BUT UNFORTUNATELY OFFER NO SOLUTION AFTERMARKET OR OTHERWISE. THESE MIRRORS ARE WOEFULLY TOO SMALL, THEREFORE CANNOT BE ADJUSTED PROPERLY AND IN FACT ARE NEARLY USELESS. I HAVE INFORMED GM VIA EMAIL AND BY RESPONDING TO THEIR SURVEYS. THEY OF COURSE, IGNORE ME. OPERATING MY PICKUP ON RIVER ROAD (GRAVEL SURFACE), AKRON, IOWA AT A SPEED BETWEEN 15-20 MPH, DRIVERS DOOR WINDOW SHATTERED AND FELL ON DRIVER, CUTTING MY LEFT HAND. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE THE VEHICLE TO DIRKS MOTOR COMPANY, THE CHEVROLET DEALE, AND REPORTED THE DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE. THE WINDOW WAS REPLACED ON AUGUST 18, 2004. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN LATE JUNE 2004. AT THE TIME OF THE DEFECT THE VEHICLE HAD 4,075 MILES.*AK
WHILE DRIVING IN A VERY HEAVY RAIN STORM WINDSHIELD WIPERS COMPLETELY BROKE. CONSUMER COULD NOT GET THEM TO WORK AGAIN. CONSUMER STATED THAT WINDSHIELD WIPERS JUST FLOPPED TO THE LEFT, HITTING THE SIDE VIEW MIRROR. *AK

I PURCHASED A 2004 CHEVROLET 2500HD SILVERADO DURAMAX IN FEB 2004. THE EXTERIOR MIRRORS HAVE BEEN VIBRATING SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED THE MIRRORS ONCE, WHICH DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THEY NOW STATE THAT IT IS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE.
