TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING AN INSPECTION, THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL LINES WERE SEVERELY CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL LINES WERE CONSIDERED A MAINTENANCE ITEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 39,000.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE COULD HEAR THE REAR PUMP RUNNING AND WHILE ATTEMPTING TO INSPECT THE FUEL CAB, IT SPEW DIESEL ALL OVER HIM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,621.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO CLEARED THE CODE FROM THE COMPUTER BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SOLENOID EVAPORATION EM HAD BEEN MODIFIED AND THAT THE SOLENOID EVAPORATION EM, THE CANISTER EVAPORATION EMI, THE SOLENOID, THE GAS CAP, THE CANISTER PURGE, THE FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR, AND THE TUBING NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MIELAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE RANGE INDICATOR STATED 54 MILES, YET RAN OUT OF FUEL. GAUGE READ 1/4 TANK. THE NEXT TIME RANGE WAS 89 MILES AND RAN OUT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE, GASOLINE BEGAN SPEWING FROM THE FUEL FILLER NECK WHILE REFUELING. THE ONLY WAY THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE WAS TO SLOWLY PUMP THE FUEL FOR THREE SECONDS BEFORE ALLOWING THE FUEL TO DRAIN INTO THE TANK FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS WITHOUT PUMPING. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPOSITION PARTS OF THE FUEL SYSTEM TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. MY 2006 CHEVROLET 2500 HD DIESEL HAS HAD A VAPOR LOCK ON THE FUEL FILTER @ LEAST 3 TIMES IN ONE WEEK. WHEN IT HAPPENS THE VEHICLE JUST SHUTS DOWN. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AS YOU HAVE VERY LITTLE OR NO BREAKS AND STEERING. JUST MISSED A CAR THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED BECAUSE I COULD NOT STEER OUT OF HARMS WAY FAST ENOUGH. STARTED MY TRUCK UP ON MAY 04 2010 AND NOTICED FUEL GAUGE SHOWED EMPTY. I HAD JUST FILLED IT UP THE NIGHT BEFORE. TOOK IT TO MY DEALER AND HE DETERMINED IT WAS A BAD SENDING UNIT. MY TRUCK HAD ABOUT 16000 MILES ON IT. TURN THE PROBLEM OVER TO GM WITH NO SATISFACTION. I THEN CHECKED THE INTERNET AND FOUND SEVERAL PROBLEMS OF THIS NATURE. WHEN THE REPAIR PEOPLE TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR THEY FOUND EXTENSIVE CORROSION AND OTHER PARTS HAD TO BE REPLACED TO THE TUNE OF $900.00. MY CHEVY DIESEL PICK-UP TRUCK DIES FOR 2-3 SECONDS WHEN DRIVING AT MEDIUM SPEEDS (50MPH) AND I FLOOR THE THROTTLE. 2 DEALERS HAVE TOLD ME THIS IS NORMAL, IT IS A LAG DUE TO THE TURBO. EVERYONE ELSE I TALK TO THAT HAS THIS TRUCK TELLS ME THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. HOWEVER, FORD AND DODGE DIESEL TRUCKS WITH TURBOS DO NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM UNLESS THE TURBO IS DEFECTIVE. ALSO I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY SOME PEOPLE WHO ADD A CHIP AND ADJUSTED SUCH THINGS AS SHIFT POINTS ETC. I'M FIRE INVESTIGATOR REPORTING THIS INCIDENT. UNEXPLAINED FIRE FROM UNDERNEATH TRUCK NEAR GAS TANK AREA. VEHICLE HAD BEEN IDLED 1/2 HOUR AND DRIVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS BEFORE AND AFTER THE IDLING PERIOD UNTIL FIRE DISCOVERED BY DRIVER. TRUCK HAD 15KMILES, REGULAR SERVICING, NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS UNTIL FIRE. *TR
I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 IN MAY, 2006. I HAD NO TROUBLE WITH THE VEHICLE.. UNTIL OCTOBER 27. I HAD 3800 MILES ON THE TRUCK. I HAD FILLED MY GAS TANK JUST OUT OF SAN FRANCISCO AND DROVE APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES JUST OUT SIDE OF CALISTOGA, CALIFORNIA NORTHBOUND ON HWY 29. A WINDING, UPHILL MOUNTAINOUS ROAD, SINGLE LANE TRAFFIC EXCEPT FOR A FEW PASSING LANES AND TURN-OUTS. I WAS DRIVING UP AN INCLINE. I NOTICED SMOKE WISPING BEHIND THE CAB. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, THE TRUCK DIED... RED INDICATORS ON. FORTUNATELY, IT DIED RIGHT AT A WIDE PASSING LANE LOCATION, AND I VEERED TO THE RIGHT, BLOCKING ONE OF TWO NORTHBOUND LANES. I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK AND SAW SERIOUS SMOKE AND SOME FLAME COMING FROM UNDER THE BED OF THE TRUCK, UP BETWEEN THE CAB AND THE FRONT OF THE BED. A VEHICLE BEHIND ME, EVIDENTLY SAW IT ALREADY AND PULLED OVER TO ASSIST. ANOTHER VEHICLE, DRIVING SOUTHBOUND PULLED OVER, HAD AN EXTINGUISHER WHICH I SHOT UNDERNEATH THE BED, BUT IT DID NOT HELP. AT THAT POINT, I WAS CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BLOW UP . THERE WAS AN EXTREME FIRE DANGER IN THE AREA AND THERE WAS A STRONG POSSIBILITY THAT THIS COULD ALSO TURN INTO A FOREST FIRE. THERE WAS NO STOPPING THE FIRE . THE TRUCK WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE CALISTOGA FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ENROUTE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND DOUSED THE TRUCK FIRE AND A BRUSH FIRE. CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL SHOWED UP. SECURED THE AREA FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO NEUTRALIZE ANY RESIDUAL FIRES AND THE ARRIVAL OF THE TOW TRUCK. THE TRUCK WAS TOTALLY BURNED. A FULL BLOWN RAGING TRUCK FIRE, ON A SINGLE LANE HIGHWAY IN EXTREMELY DRY CONDITIONS, IN THE MIDDLE OF AN AREA WITH BLIND TURNS IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. *JB
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING LOW. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP TO BE ADJUSTED ONCE. SINCE THE ADJUSTMENT THE GAS MILEAGE HAS GOTTEN WORST. HE SAID THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING AT ABOUT 1000 RPM TO WARM UP.
