TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WOULD BLOW HOT AIR FROM THE VENTS AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE VENTS WOULD BLOW COLD AIR. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE HEATING AND AIR UNIT ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE HEATER SWITCH WAS FOUND TO BE MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL YEARS LATER IN WHICH THE HEATER SWITCH OVERHEATED AND CAUSED THE DASHBOARD TO CATCH ON FIRE. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500HD. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY WITHIN TWENTY FOURS SHE NOTICED THE BACK WINDOW WAS SHATTERED BUT STILL INTACT. AS THE DOORS WAS OPENED SOME OF THE GLASS SHATTERED OUT OF IT. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO STATED THERE WAS NO RECALL AND OFFERED NO OTHER ASSISTANCE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
THE HEATER FAN BLOWER WENT BAD, MELTED BOTH ENDS OF THE PLUG-IN ON THE RESISTOR BLOCK. I CALLED THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY HAD BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THIS PART AND THAT IT WOULD BE $500. TO FIX IT. I PURCHASED THE PARTS TO FIX IT, AND DID IT MYSELF. I SENT A LETTER TO CHEVROLET AND ASK WHY THE PARTS WEREN'T RECALLED, THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE, CAUSING A WRECK OR DEATH. THEY CALLED BACK LATER AND SAID THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW THEY HAD A PROBLEM WITH THIS PART. IF THEY HAVE A SPECIAL WIRING KIT MADE JUST TO FIX THIS PROBLEM HOW CAN SAY THEY DON'T KNOW IT EXISTS. THE LOCAL DEALER TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD FIXED OVER 50 OF THESE, AND THIS IS A VERY SMALL DEALER, SO HOW MANY HAVE BEEN FIXED ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND $500. A HIT. THE CONSUMER SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT CHEVROLET KNOWS THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH. *TR
BLOWER FAN FOR HEAT AND A/C STOPPED WORKING. REPLACED RESISTOR ASSEMBLY AND IT WORKED FOR ABOUT THREE DAYS.CHECKED TO SEE WHAT WAS THE MATTER AND SAW THAT THE CONNECTION HAD MELTED. *TR
AUTOMANTIC CLIMATE CONTROL BLOWS HOT AIR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEN AIR CONDITIONER IS OPERATING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. WILL RESET WHEN ENGINE IS TURNED OFF AND THEN BACK ON. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATER FAN MODULE MELTED TWICE. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE MODULE AND WIRES ONCE. THE SECOND FAILURE OCCURRED OCTOBER 2010. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO TOOK A COMPLAINT BUT OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 51,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF, THE BLOWER MOTOR REMAINED ON AND THE CONTACT HAD TO CONSTANTLY DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE BLOWER CONTROL MOTOR PREMATURELY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL TO ADDRESS THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
AT FIRST #5 ON HEATER QUIT WORKING. SOME TIMES IT WORKED OTHER TIMES IT WOULD NOT. I NOTICED A GLOW UNDER THE DASH AND SMELLED BURNT PLASTIC. I CHECKED THINGS OUT THE CONNECTOR HAD MELTED AND GLOWED WHEN THE HEATER WAS ON. IT THREW SPARKS WHEN I SWITCHED TO THE 5 POSITION. THE BLOWER STILL WORKED EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ABOUT TO CATCH FIRE, WHY DOESN'T IT BLOW A FUSE? THIS IS NOT SAFE. LUCKY I KEEP MY TRUCK CLEAN AND DON'T HAVE CARPET, IT WOULD HAVE PROBABLY CAUGHT FIRE. *TR

I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FROM CHEVROLET STATING I HAD 10 YEARS FROM DATE OF PURCHASE OR 150000 MILES TO BE ABLE TO BE REPAIRED AT NO COST. NOT SURE WHY IT IS NOT LISTED HERE ON THIS WEBSITE. *TR
WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK 3 FEET LONG WHEN I SHUT THE DOOR AFTER REFILLING THE GAS TANK. THE DEFROSTER WAS RUNNING PRIOR TO STOPPING AT THE SERVICE STATION. THERE NO PRIOR DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHIELD, AND I SAW THE CRACK APPEAR AFTER I GOT IN MY TRUCK AND SHUT THE DOOR. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY, THE SIDE REAR VIEW MIRRORS VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED NO DEFECT WAS FOUND AND THE MIRRORS WERE DESIGNED THAT WAY. UPDATED 12/5/2006 - THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE BBB AND SHORTLY AFTERWARD HE WAS CONTACTED BY GM. GM AGREED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND HAD THE DEALER REPLACE THE MIRRORS WITH ANOTHER STYLE. THE NEW MIRRORS SEEM TO BE PERFORMING WELL. *NM
FROM: DAVID ARTHUR COMMENTS: MY EMPLOYER ISSUED ME A 2006 CHEVY SILVERADO PICKUP TRUCK THAT I FEEL IS A HAZARD TO DRIVE. THE DESIGN OF THE CAB IS SUCH THAT THERE IS ONLY A 1.5 X 1.5 FT BOX THAT ONE CAN SEE OUT OF. THE REAR VIEW MIRROR IS SO BIG AND MOUNTED SO LOW THAT IT BLOCKS MOST OF THE VISION TO THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND THE TOP OF THE CAB INHIBITS THE ABILITY TO SEE STOP LIGHTS WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP BAR, TO SEE THE LIGHT ONE MUST STOP A VEHICLE LENGTH SHORT OF THE LIGHT. STOPPING SHORT TO SEE THE LIGHT ISN'T A BIG ISSUE FOR THE DRIVER OF THE TRUCK, ITS THE IDIOT WITH ROAD RAGE BEHIND THAT'S THE PROBLEM..I HAVE ASKED THE CHEVY CUSTOMER CARE CENTER TO ADDRESS THESE ISSUES AS WELL AS OTHER ISSUES WITH THE SUITABILITY OF THIS TRUCK FOR PERSONS TALLER THAN 5 FT BUT I THINK THEY HAVE JUST WRITTEN OFF THE COMPLAINT. I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT THIS VEHICLE BE RECALLED DO TO THE SEVERELY LIMITED VISION OF THE DRIVER. FROM NHTSA WEB SITE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE SUNROOF HAS A SCREEN RATHER THAN A SHADE TO FILTER THE SUN SHINING THROUGH. THIS HAS CAUSED A VISIBILITY PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING. THE MANUFACTURER DETERMINED THERE IS NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE FOR THE SUNROOF.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD WHISTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE VENT WHEN THE HEATER WAS ACTIVATED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THEY REPLACED THE VENT COVER. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE TAPING OR MOLDING AROUND THE HEATER CORE MAY HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE DEALER SPRAYED SILICONE ON THE DASHBOARD; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. APPROXIMATELY ELEVEN MONTHS LATER, THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE. AS OF NOVEMBER 27, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,635.
