WHILE DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC THE VACUUM POWER ASSIST FOR THE BRAKES FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES MAKING IT MUCH MORE DIFFICULT TO BRAKE AND STOP THE VEHICLE BEFORE COLLIDING WITH THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS. A VEHICLE WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED IN THE DRIVERS INFORMATION DISPLAY STATING SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE MESSAGE WENT AWAY AFTER SUSTAINED CONTINUOUS DRIVING WITHOUT BRAKING WHEN THE VACUUM SYSTEM WAS ABLE TO RECOVER.
I WAS DRIVING TO THE STORE WITH MY FAMILY EVERYTHING FILLS FINE WHEN I GET TO THE PARKING LOT I TRY TO STOP AND MY TRUCK JUST KEEP GOING I HAVE TO USE THE PARKING BRAKE TO STOP THE TRUCK I DRIVE AROUND TO MAKE SURE THAT HAPPENS BECAUSE IS A NEW TRUCK IT THAS IT AGAIN SO NOW MY TRUCK IS PARKED ON MY HOUSE BECAUSE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE
CRACKED WELD IN AC CONDENSER. HAS HAPPENED TO NUMEROUS GM PICKUPS AND SUV'S IN THIS YEAR.
THE BRAKES OCCASIONALLY WILL GET HARD WHEN DEPRESSING AT A LOW SPEED AND FAIL TO WORK. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS COMING TO A FINAL STOP IN MY DRIVEWAY THAT IS DOWN A SLOPE AFTER I HAVE ALREADY BEEN USING THE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN SOME. THE VEHICLE IS BARELY MOVING WHEN IT HAPPENS. IT HAS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF OTHER TIMES GOING DOWN A SLOPE IN OUR SUBDIVISION ENTRANCE APPLYING OCCASIONAL BRAKE PRESSURE AT ABOUT 20 MPH. I HAD IT DIAGNOSED BY THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER AND THEY SAID THE VACUUM PUMP AND SEAL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THE BRAKE SYSTEM FLUSHED. TOTAL ESTIMATE FOR THE WORK WAS $970 WHICH I DID NOT HAVE DONE. I NOTICED ONLINE THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE.
BRAKE FAILURE AT LOW SPEED. WHILE SITTING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, THE BRAKE PEDAL REACTS AS IF THE VEHICLE ISN'T RUNNING. PEDAL SEEMS HIGH AND HARD THEN SOFT AND LOW. VEHICLE WILL STOP WITH EXTREME PRESSURE ON PEDAL.
YESTERDAY (18-MAR-2019), I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT A RESTAURANT AND ALL OF A SUDDEN WHEN I TRIED TO APPLY MY BRAKES ON MY 2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 CREW CAB, THE PEDAL WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO PUSH. THE TRUCK CONTINUED MOVING AFTER I EXERTED AS MUCH FORCE AS I COULD ON THE PEDAL. LUCKILY THE CURB ASSISTED IN STOPPING THE TRUCK BEFORE I CRASHED INTO A WALL AS I HAD MY TWO YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME AT THE TIME. I AM ALSO GLAD MY WIFE WAS NOT DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT SHE WOULD HAVE HAD ENOUGH FORCE TO STOP THE VEHICLE UNDER THE CONDITIONS OBSERVED. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON BEFORE, DURING, OR AFTER THE INCIDENT. THE SYMPTOMS MATCH THOSE REPORTED UNDER BULLETIN PIT5361 REGARDING A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FAILURE OF THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP. I PURCHASED THE TRUCK NEW IN AUGUST 2015. THE TRUCK HAS ABOUT 51,000 MILES ON IT.
A/C STOPPED COOLING. STILL BLOWING, BUT NOT COOLING. WAY TO NEW OF A TRUCK TO HAVE THIS ISSUE WITH 100 TEMPS COMING SOON.
ON 3-18-19 AT APPROXIMATELY 1600 HOURS WE WERE TRAVELING NORTH ON I 84 NEAR NEWBURGH, NY. I WAS DRIVING A 2016 CHEVROLET 2500 SILVERADO (45,000 MILES) TOWING A 2019 GRAND DESIGN 5TH WHEEL RV. WE WERE TRAVELING IN THE TRAVEL LANE WHEN A PICKUP PULLED ALONGSIDE HONKING HIS HORN, THE DRIVER WAS POINTING AT THE CAMPER. I PULLED OVER AND DISCOVERED THE CABLE HOLDING UP MY SPARE TIRE BROKE, THE SPARE DROPPED TO THE PAVEMENT BOUNCING UNDER THE CAMPER. I DID A QUICK REPAIR GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND SPENT THE NIGHT IN A MOTEL. THE NEXT MORNING I SPENT 2 HOURS REPAIRING THE CAMPER ENOUGH TO GET IT TO OUR RESIDENCE IN MAINE. DAMAGE REPAIR BILL TO THE RV WAS $9100.00. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK INTO QUIRK CHEVROLET BANGOR ME WHERE I PURCHASED IT NEW AND THEIR MECHANICS INSPECTED THE TIRE HOIST. THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THE CABLE FRAYED AND BROKE. THE SPARE WAS INSPECTED BEFORE OUR TRIP SOUTH IN FEB.AND WAS SECURELY IN PLACE WITH NO MOVEMENT. THE CABLE WAS IN NEW CONDITION WITH NO RUST. I DEALT WITH GM CUSTOMER SERVICE GAVE THEM ACCIDENT REPORTS AND ALL INFO NEEDED. MAY 5TH GM SENDS OUT ESIS FIELD INSPECTOR RON YEAGER. MR. YEAGER STATES HE HAS NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE ON SUCH A NEW VEHICLE. APPROXIMATELY A MONTH LATER I'M IN CONTACT WITH GM THEY DENY THE CLAIM FOR REPAIRS BUT HAVE NO EXPLANATION AS TO THE CAUSE. THIS SPARE TIRE SYSTEM ON GM TRUCKS HAS LONG BEEN KNOWN FOR ITS FAILURES. USUALLY THE CABLES RUST IN PLACE AND YOU CAN'T GET THE TIRE DOWN WHEN NEEDED. I'VE ALWAYS OWNED GM TRUCKS AND USUALLY PLACE THE SPARE IN THE TRUCK BED DUE TO THIS POOR SYSTEM. IF THE RV WAS NOT BEHIND MY TRUCK THAT 65LB SPARE COULD HAVE DONE SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLES/PERSONS TRAVELING BEHIND ME. BREAK VACUUM PUMP BREAKS GET HARD AT LOW SPEED MAKING THE THE VEHICLE HARD TO BREAK WHEN MAKING A STOP OR IN AN EMERGENCY STOP AND WHEN TRYING TO SLOW DOWN
GOING THROUGHT DOWN TOWN TRAFFIC AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK. IT FELT LIKE I WAS PUSHING ON A BRICK. THEN HAD TO USE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN TRAFFIC FOR TWO HOURS.MY BOSS HAS SAME TRUCK AS I DO AND ONE WEEK LATER HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN EXCEPT HE HIT THE WALL AT HIS HOME. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH SEVERAL OTHER EMPLOYEES AND ALL HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. IT COST ABOUT 800 DOLLARS TO FIX IT
WHILE BACKING INTO PAVED BOAT RAMP AT 1.5 TO 2 MPH BRAKE PEDAL BECAME VERY HARD AND HAD TO PRESS PEDAL AS HARD AS I COULD IN ORDER TO STOP TRUCK. "TRUCK WAS ON LEVEL GROUND AND I WAS TURNING STEERING WHEEL SLOWLY". I PULLED OUT OF RAMP AND PROBLEM REPEATED WHEN BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE WAS APPLIED AND REMOVED AND THEN REAPPLIED. PROBLEM CONTINUED TO REOCCUR AFTER TRAILER REMOVED FROM TRUCK AND BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE WAS APPLIED AND REMOVED THEM REAPPLIED. TRUCK WAS LOOKED AT BY DYER CHEVROLET THE NEXT DAY. CHEVROLET IS AWARE OF ISSUE AS TECH HEARD MY DESCRIPTION AND HE STATED THERE WAS A BULLETIN FROM GM ON IT BUT IT WAS NOT RECALLED. AFTER RECEIVING ESTIMATE LATER THAT DAY FROM CHEVROLET I DECIDED TO TAKE TRUCK TO ANOTHER REPAIR FACILITY THAT ESTIMATED REPAIR $500 CHEAPER THAN CHEVROLET DEALER. REPAIRS WERE MADE FOLLOWING THE GM BULLETIN AND USING GM PARTS FROM THE CHEVY DEALER FOR $1139 AS OPPOSED TO DYER CHEVROLET WANTING $1662 FOR A ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH INDICATES THAT MANY OTHERS ARE AFFECTED BY THE ISSUE AS WELL. IT IS MY HOPE THAT YOU MAY BE ABLE TO HELP AS I AM SURE THIS WILL OCCUR AGAIN AS GM HAS NOT CHANGED ANYTHING THEY HAVE MERELY CHARGED THE CUSTOMER TO PUT A BANDAID ON A PROBLEM THEY ENGINEERED. THE MECHANIC THAT ULTIMATELY REPAIRED TRUCK STATED GM KNOWS THEY HAVE PROBLEM AS THEY ONLY USED THAT BOOSTER PUMP ON 2015. THERE IS NO WAY A 50000 MILE TRUCK SHOULD HAVE THIS ISSUE. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED DOCUMENTS FROM CHEVROLET DEALER THAT DESCRIBE ISSUE OF MECHANICAL FAILURE OF VACUUM PUMP. HOW IS IT NOT A RECALL ISSUE IF VACUUM PUMP MAY PUMP MOTOR OIL INTO BRAKE BOOSTER? THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AND IS NOT A NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE. THIS IS A ENGINEERING FAILURE. I LOOK FORWARD TO HELPING ANY WAY I CAN TO GET THIS RECALLED. CONTACT ME AS NEEDED. WENT TO GO USE MY BRAKES AND NOTICED THEY GOT REALLY HARD AND ALMOST HIT SOMEONE. I TOWED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS A FAULTY VACUUM PUMP, BELT, ETC..I HAD ASKED IF THIS WAS RECALLED THEY SAID NO .TOLD ME IT WAS GOING TO BE 1600 TO FIX. I WENT HOME AND DID A LITTLE RESEARCH APPARENTLY THIS IS AN ISSUE. 2015 CHEVY 1500 65K MILES
LOW SPEED BRAKE ISSUE- BRAKING EFFORT INCREASED CONSIDERABLY AND VEHICLE AND CAUSED BECOME DIFFICULT TO STOP. WHILE PARKING VEHICLE IN PRIVATE PARKING LOT THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME VERY FIRM WITH NO TAKE UP AND TOOK CONSIDERABLE EFFORT TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT VEHICLE TO MECHANIC WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS FAILING BRAKE BOOSTER AND THAT IT IS A COMMON DEFECT WITH THIS MAKE MODEL OF VEHICLE. ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THE WHEN THE BOOSTER BEGINS TO FAIL CAN DEPOSIT CONTAMINATES IN THE OIL SYSTEM THAT CAN PREMATURELY DAMAGE THE ENGINE. A INTERNET SEARCH PRODUCED A LONG LIST OF CUSTOMER WITH SIMILAR VEHICLES DESCRIBING THEIR EXPERIENCE OF SIMILAR ISSUES. I CALLED THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER AND THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT IS COMMON ISSUE BUT THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR MANUFACTURE ANNOUNCEMENTS ON THE VEHICLE SO THEY WOULD NOT REIMBURSE FOR THE REPAIR. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY LOGGED MY COMPLAINT GM CASE #[XXX] BUT THEY WOULD BE UNABLE TO OFFER ANY REPAIR ASSISTANCE AT THIS TIME. WILL REPAIR VEHICLE AT MY OWN EXPENSE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME STUCK WHILE REVERSING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY MORE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL THAN USUAL TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO HAVE THE MECHANIC REPAIR THE VEHICLE THIS WEEK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
THE TRUCK AND TRANSMISSION SHIFT VERY HARD, SLIP OR CAN'T FIND ITS HOME. THE PROBLEM IS THE WORST BETWEEN PARK AND REVERSE, AND 1ST AND 2ND GEAR AROUND 20MPH. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN MULTIPLE TIMES TIMES AND TOLD EVERYTHING IS OPERATING TO SPEC. ONE TIME I WAS TOLD THEY WERE WAITING FOR GUIDANCE FROM GM, BUT THEN FORGOT ABOUT THAT, AND SAID EVERYTHING IS FINE.
I HAVE A 2015 SILVERADO 1500 5.3 WITH ABOUT 90K MILES. WHILE I WAS PARALLEL PARKING, AFTER THE 2ND PUMP, I REALIZED THE TRUCK WASNT STOPPING. I HAD TO USE BOTH LEGS TO MAKE IT STOP BEFORE HITTING THE CAR IN THE BACK OF ME AND ALMOST CRUSHING A PEDESTRIAN. MY BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS ARE FINE. I DO HEAR AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA AT ALL TIMES. KINDA LIKE A BAD PULLEY BEARING OR SOMETHING. NOTICED IT THE DAY THE TRUCK STARTED ACTING UP. I LOOKED ONLINE ON MUTIPLE WEBSITES AND UNDERSTAND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE VACUUM PUMP, BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL.
BRAKING ASSIST SERVICE WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED ON SCREEN. NOTICED BRAKING ASSIST IS NOT WORKING AT LOW SPEED AND IDLE. REQUIRES SIGNIFICANT FOOT PRESSURE TO HAVE BRAKES WORK. NO ACCIDENT YET.
BRAKES FAIL AT LOW SPEED. PROBLEM DIAGNOSED BY CHEVROLET DEALER AND DETERMINED TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM AS OUTLINED IN CHEVROLET TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN PIT5361B. GM NOT COVERING REPAIR AS THEY CLAIM NOTHING IS WRONG AND THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY.
WHEN AT A SLOW ROLLING SPEED BRAKES ARE EXTREMELY HARD TO BRAKE, MAINLY WHEN IN PARKING LOTS OR BACKING MY BOAT IN THE BOAT RAMP ITS EXTREMELY SCARY AND SEEMS LIKE THE TRUCK WONT STOP ROLLING. THIS IS SO UNSAFE AND SCARY. ITS ALMOST LIKE THE BRAKES DONT WORK. BUT IM PRETTY SURE ITS THE VACUUM PUMP BRAKE SYSTEM.
I'VE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES THAT NUMEROUS PEOPLE ARE REPORTING AND ALSO RECEIVED THE LETTER FROM CHEVY/GM IN REGARDS TO THE BRAKE FAILURE AT SLOW SPEEDS. I'VE HAD THIS ISSUE OCCUR AT LEAST 3 TIMES IN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS AS BIG OF A KNOWN PROBLEM UNTIL CONDUCTING ADDITIONAL RESEARCH. WANT TO ENSURE MY VOICE IS HEARD/KNOWN IN THE LARGER COMPLAINT THAT IS DEVELOPING. A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. THIS IS A SCARY SITUATION WHEN THIS OCCURS. SIMPLY TURN OFF TRUCK AND START IT UP AGAIN AND THE IMMEDIATE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. HOWEVER THE ISSUE OCCURS WITHOUT ANY WARNING AND COULD DEFINITELY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT.
BRAKE PEDAL TOO HARD..SOMETIMES DONT BRAKE HAVE TO PUT BOTH FEET TO BRAKE
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE, I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH APPROPRIATE FORCE ONLY TO FIND THAT THERE WAS A LOSS OF BRAKE POWER... I WOULD EQUATE IT TO 85-90% BRAKE LOSS. I WAS ABLE TO APPLY PRESSURE AS HARD AS I COULD AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED OVER DOUBLE THE USUAL STOPPING DISTANCE. I DID END UP GOING THROUGH THE STOP SIGN AND WAS THANKFULLY NOT HIT. I PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED MY TRUCK, I APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES AND ALL NORMAL PEDAL FEEL HAS BEEN RESTORED.
I HAVE A 2015 CHEVY 1500. IT IS MY DAILY DRIVER,(IN ALABAMA) SO WHEN MY AC STOPPED WORKING I FIGURED IT NEEDED RECHARGED AS I DO USE IT QUITE OFTEN. RECHARGED IT AND IT WORKED FOR 2 DAYS. THEN OUT AGAIN. SO I RECHARGED IT AND USED THE DYE TO SEE WHERE THE LEAK WAS LOCATED. CAN NOT SEE WHERE A LEAK IS ANYWHERE. MY TRUCK IS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY. THERE ARE 1000'S OF COMPLAINTS, WHY IS NOTHING DONE? I UNDERSTAND THAT AC IS NOT A NECESSITY TO SOME BUT WITH A 7 YO THAT HAS ASTHMA, LIVING IN ALABAMA IT BECOMES A NECESSITY. OH, FYI WHEN YOUR AIR NOT WORKING NEITHER DOES YOUR DEFOG. WHEN DRIVING HOME AT NIGHT ITS SO BAD YOU CANT SEE OUT OF THE WINDOW. I HAVE ALMOST WRECKED 4 TIMES BC OF IT. I DID HIT A DOG BC I COULDNT SEE IT..... AND TO THINK ALL THE 1000'S OF PEOPLE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM BC OF A FLAWED DESIGN. YOU MAY WANT TO TAKE NOTE BEFORE PAYING A LAWSUIT BC SOMEONE LOST THEIR LIFE BC OF SOMETHING SIMPLE AND KNOWN.
WHEN TRAVELLING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL PUSHES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND DOES NOT FULLY STOP THE VEHICLE. ON 3 OCCASIONS NOW, I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS STOPPING THE TRUCK WHILE PARKING, COMING VERY CLOSE TO HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE.
AIR CONDITIONING DOESN'T WORK. ADD REFRIGENT AND IT WORKS FOR A DAY OR TWO THEN STOPS AGAIN. NO SIGN OF A LEAK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS AND THERE WAS A DELAY IN STOPPING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO EAST SYRACUSE CHEVROLET (1 CHEVY DR, EAST SYRACUSE, NY 13057) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.

I WAS DRIVING SLOWED DOWN TO TURN RIGHT ONTO MY STREET IOSS TOTAL CONTROL OF MY TRUCK ENDED UP ON THE SIDE WALK ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF ROAD AS I WAS NOT ABLE TO CONTROL MY TRUCK, MY TRUCK SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY WHILE IN DRIVE, MYDASHBOARD STARTED TO DISPLAY STABILITRACK DISABLED, STEERING ASSISTANT REDUCED, TWO KEY PROGRAMMED, OPEN AND CLOSE DRIVER DOOR. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED BUT THE FIRST TIME TO THIS EXTREME THAT IS WHY WE HAD TOOK OUR TRUCK TO VANDERGRIFF CHEVROLET IN ARLINGTON TX ON 2/16/19 WERE THEY TOOK CARE OF THE OPEN RECALL AND DID A SOFTWARE RESET FOR LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST C18289 AND POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE BUT EVEN AFTER SOFTWARE RESET I'M STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE I'M TAKING MY VEHICLE IN AGAIN TO BE SERVICED AS I FIND THIS LOSS OF STEERING VERY DANGEROUS THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS ON THAT SIDE WALK THAT COULD'VE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT. THE OTHER TWO TIMES THIS HAPPENED PRIOR TO YESTERDAY WAS WHEN WE WERE IN A DRIVE THRU AND WE WERE TURNING TO ORDER FOOD AND ONCE TURNING INTO MY SONS SCHOOL AGAIN VEHICLE SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY WHILE IN DRIVE ALL THE WARNINGS LIGHTS DISPLAYING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT IT FAILED TO ENGAGE PROPERLY. IN ADDITION, THE ABS WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL THREE TIMES TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. VIVA CHEVROLET (5915 MONTANA AVE, EL PASO, TX 79925) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR COSTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
WHILE DRIVING AND TRAFFIC MY BRAKE PEDAL GETS SO HARD CANNOT STOP TRUCK
I WAS DRIVING MY 2015 SILVERADO 1500 WHEN MY DAUGHTER IN THE BACKSEAT NOTICED THAT'S SOMETHING SMELL LIKE IT WAS BURNING, SHE TOLD ME AND WITHIN 10 SECONDS I COULD SMELL THE SAME THING AND IT SMELLED LIKE ELECTRICAL WAS BURNING. I COULD SEE SMOKE COMING FROM BEHIND HER HEADREST SO I PULLED OFF THE ROAD IMMEDIATELY AND GOT HER OUT OF THE BACK SEAT AND COULD SEE IT WAS COMING FROM EITHER THE SLIDE WINDOW OR THE DEFROSTER SO I JUMPED IN THE FRONT SEAT AND SEEN THE REAR DEFROSTER WAS ON AND SHUT THAT OFF AND ALMOST IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING ME SHUTTING THAT OFF IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT WENT OFF IN MY BACK SEAT AND THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW EXPLODED THE ONLY THING HOLDING IT TOGETHER WAS THE FACTORY WINDOW TINT. THERE IS ALL KIND OF GLASS SHARDS IN THE BACKSEAT FROM WHEN IT SHATTERED. I HAD TO HAVE MY WIFE PICK UP MY DAUGHTER BECAUSE SHE IS TOO YOUNG TO SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT. SO I HAVE TO PUT TAPE OVER THE WINDOW TO HOLD IT TOGETHER UNTIL THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTS ME BACK.
AIR CONDITIONER NOT WORKING IS HAVE A LICKS
MY TRUCK BRAKES NORMALLY EXCEPT WHEN I STOPPED, THEN AT LOW SPEED THE TRUCK FAILS TO STOP. I'VE ALMOST GOTTEN INTO MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS (HITTING WALLS, POLES, A BUS) AND ITS EVEN WORSE GOING DOWNHILL. IT TAKES BOTH FEET AND ALL MY WEIGHT TO GET THE TRUCK TO STOP. EVENTUALLY SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET INTO A BAD ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. HAPPENS WHEN GOING FORWARD AND REVERSE. I'VE READ SEVERAL ARTICLES ABOUT IT ON THE INTERNET AND I'VE TALKED WITH GM TECHS AND IT'S A BAD PROBLEM WITH THE VACUUM PUMP. PLEASE HELP!!!!
THE TRUCK IS INTERMITTENTLY HARD TO STOP, I BELIEVE IT IS LOSING VACUUM. I'VE HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT THE TRUCK AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THIS IS INTERMITTENT AND I'M SCARED TO DRIVE THE TRUCK. THIS ONLY SEEMS TO HAPPEN AT LOW RPM. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED BECAUSE THE ISSUE COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I'M A 235 POUND MALE AND I BELIEVE A SMALLER PERSON WOULD HAVE EVEN MORE TROUBLE STOPPING WITH THE SUDDEN LOSS OF VACUUM. I READ IN A FORUM THAT OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND I SHOULD FILE A COMPLAINT. HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR THE ARTICLE THAT MENTIONED THE NHTSA I WOULD HAVE NEVER FILED A COMPLAINT. I HAVE TO THINK THERE ARE OTHERS DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE AND AREN'T SURE WHERE TO TURN OR REPORT THE ISSUE. PLEASE HELP.

WHEN THE CONTACT MADE A SECOND ATTEMPT, THE BRAKES RESPONDED AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE VACUUM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO PARK, I LOST BRAKING AND COULD NOT STOP THE TRUCK. I HAD TO PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK TO STOP THE MOMENTUM. THIS HAPPENED GOING IN REVERSE. WHEN TAKEN TO DEALER I WAS CHARGED $470.96 FOR PARTS AND LABOR AT N THE VACUUM PUMP WHICH PROVIDES POWER FOR BRAKING AND STEERING.
WHEN COMING TO A STOP IN TRAFFIC THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP MY TRUCK. I WAS GOING STRAIGHT AT A VERY LOW SPEED. THE PEDAL FELT LIKE I WAS PUSHING ON A BRICK. I DID GET MY TRUCK STOPPED AND GOT IT OFF THE ROAD. I CALLED MY DEALER WHO SAID THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM BUT THOUGHT IT SOUNDED LIKE A BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE. I CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO STARTED A CASE # 9-5055710889, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF WARRENTY. UPON FURTHER READING I DISCOVERED THE TSB FOR MY TRUCK TO REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER, MASTER CYLINDER, LINE , AND VACUM PUMP. THE TRUCK IS BEING REPAIRED NOW. MY TRUCK HAS 41,000 MILES ON IT.
DRIVING NEWLY PURCHASED 2015 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 AT 35-45 MPH ON FREEWAY (WHICH HAS A 65 MPH SPEED LIMIT). TRAFFIC AHEAD WAS SLOWING DOWN, AND THE BRAKES WERE PRESSED, SPEED WAS REDUCED, BUT WHEN THE CARS IN FRONT (WITH AT LEAST 5 CAR LENGTHS OF SPACE ) SUDDENLY STOPPED, AND I SLAMMED THE BRAKES, THE BRAKES FAILED. I TRIED AND TRIED PRESSING THE BRAKES, BUT THE TRUCK DIDN'T STOP, AND I REAR-ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME, WHICH ENDED UP REARING THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF IT, AND SO FORTH. DUE TO THE BRAKES NOT RESPONDING, I WAS UNABLE TO STOP LIKE THE REST OF TRAFFIC, AND THUS, CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. (NOTE: THE WEATHER AND ROAD CONDITIONS WERE FINE, NOT WENT ROAD, AS STATED ON POLICE REPORT.)

APPARENTLY THE A/C COMPRESSOR ISSUE IS WELL KNOWN VIA GM YET IT IS NOT CLASSIFIED AS A RECALL. WE HAVE TWO CHILDREN UNDER 5 WHO HAVE TO ENDURE THE HEAT UNTIL WE FIND A PLACE THAT DOES NOT TRY TO ROB US ON SOMETHING THAT IS HAPPENING TO EVERY 2015 SILVERADO 1500. ON ANY OTHER BASIS THIS WOULD BE A RECALL, SO WHY IS IT NOT? AT THE LEAST, I FIGURED GM WOULD OFFER A DISCOUNTED SERVICE FOR REPLACEMENTS. THE PARTS FOR THE 2015 BODY WERE ALREADY RECYCLED PARTS SO WHY SUCH A STEEP PRICE.

THE CONTACT WALKED OUT TO THE VEHICLE TO INVESTIGATE THE ORIGIN OF THE SMOKE AND NOTICED THAT THE GLASS FROM THE REAR WINDOW WAS GLOWING A CHERRY RED COLOR. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND EXITED THE VEHICLE RIGHT BEFORE THE REAR WINDOW GLASS SHATTERED. THE DEALER (ELM CHEVROLET, 301 E CHURCH ST, ELMIRA, NY 14901) STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED BY A WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO WIRING SHORT CIRCUIT. THE PAINT ON THIS TRUCK HAS BEGUN TO PEEL IN A COUPLE SPOTS. GM ISN'T WILLING TO FULLY COVER THIS AS THEY SAY IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. A 4 YEAR OLD VEHICLE SHOULDN'T HAVE PAINT ISSUES LIKE THIS, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THIS MODEL YEAR.
