TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME STIFF AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND IN A TIMELY MANNER. THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HEALEY CHEVROLET (5216 NY- ROUTE 17M, NEW HAMPTON, NY 10958, (845) 360-9821) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP WAS LEAKING OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE VACUUM PUMP WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE MANUFACTURER'S BRAKE VACUUM PUMP REPLACEMENT BECAUSE THE MILEAGE EXCEEDED 72,000. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 95212761589. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000. *BF *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WHEN TURNED AND AN ALARM SOUNDED. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE STEERING FAILED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT PLACED THE GEAR INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTARED THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE IT WAS TEST DRIVEN, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FLOW GM AUTO CENTER OF WINSTON-SALEM (1400 S STRATFORD RD, WINSTON-SALEM, NC 27103, (336) 937-9049), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V586000 (STEERING), THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING FLICKERED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART; HOWEVER, IT STALLED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO OPERATE NORMALLY AFTER BEING RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE ORIGINAL RON CARTER CHEVROLET (3206 FM 528 ROAD, CHEVROLET BUILDING, ALVIN, TX 77511,(281) 819-6007), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES HARD TO PRESS WHEN FREQUENTLY STOPPING, SUCH AS BACKING UP A TRAILER OR IN STOP & GO TRAFFIC. THIS HAS NEARLY CAUSED ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT MORE THAN ONCE. IT IS BECOMING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND MORE FREQUENT THERE ARE NO FAULT INDICATORS OR CODES DISPLAYED. IT WILL START WORKING AGAIN AND THEN START RANDOMLY IN TRAFFIC.
AS MY WIFE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A STOPLIGHT AND AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, SHE PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCERLATE. SHE PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOOR BOARD AND STILL WOULD NOT ACCERLATE. SO DUE TO THIS THE TRUCK SLOWLY ROLLED FOWARD. SHE SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT MOVE. LIKE IF THEY BECAME LOCKED AND WOULDN'T MOVE AN INCH. AT THIS POINT SHE IS TRYING TO GET OFF THE ROAD TO THE SHOULDER, TO AVOID ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THEN SHE FINDS THAT THE STEERING WHEEL IS ALSO LOCKED AND CAN NOT BE TURNED. IT'S TAKING HER MAXIMUM EFFORT TO STOP THE TRUCK FROM ROLLING FORWARD AND TO VEER OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID OTHER VEHICLES. SHE IS FINALLY ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AFTER ABOUT 100 YARDS OF EFFORT AND WAITS ABOUT 10 MINUTES, BEFORE THE BRAKES AND STEERING WHEEL WOULD FREE UP. NO ERROR MESSAGE WAS PRESENT THE ENTIRE TIME THESE FUNCTIONS WERE DISABLED AND AFTER THEY FREED UP, IT WAS LIKE IF NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS EVER BEEN ON THIS VEHICLE. STRONG BELIEF THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND SHOULD HAVE A RECALL.
ON TWO OCCASIONS IN THE PAST WEEK MY BRAKE PEDAL HAS BECOME EXTREMELY STIFF AT LOW SPEEDS AND CAUSED THE BRAKES TO FAIL. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED AS I APPROACHED A STOP SIGN ON A BUSY CITY STREET. MY BRAKE PEDAL BECAME STIFF AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. CAUSING ME TO ROLL INTO THE PATH OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. I MANAGED TO STOP AND THE OTHER VEHICLE AVOIDED ME. THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED THIS MORNING AS I BACKED INTO MY DRIVE WAY. AS I ATTEMPTED TO STOP MY PEDAL BECAME STIFF AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. DESPITE STAND ON THE BRAKE PEDAL I WAS UNABLE TO STOP MY VEHICLE BEFORE IT STRUCK MY UTILITY TRAILER. THANKFULLY NO DAMAGED OCCURRED. I CONTACTED THE PARTS DEPARTMENT AT MISSION CHEVROLET IN EL PASO, TEXAS AND WAS ADVISED THE PART IS IN HEAVY DEMAND AND WILL BE UNAVAILABLE FOR 7 TO 10 BUSINESS DAYS.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE BACKING DOWN A SLOPED DRIVEWAY WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE, THE PEDAL HAS BECOME HARD TO PUSH AND BRAKING WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. THIS SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED WHILE BACKING A TRAILER, IT TAKES A GREATER APPLIED FORCE TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP EVEN BY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE VACUUM PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,760.
I NOTICED A WATER LEAK IN THE HEAD LINER BY THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT. I HAD IT INSPECTED AND I WAS TOLD THAT THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS OF WATER LEAKS COMING THROUGH THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT ABOVE THE BACK WINDOW. WE TRIED FIXING IT USING A NEW GASKET, SILICONE, AND EVEN A NEW LIGHT WITH NEW SEALS AND NOTHING HAS FIXED THE ISSUE.
BRAKES BECAME VERY HARD WHEN TRYING TO STOP AT SLOW SPEEDS. HAVE TO APPLY VERY HARD PRESSURE TO GET TRUCK TO STOP. SEVERAL VERY CLOSE CALLS RUNNING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO OPERATE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A TRACTOR TRAILER. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PARK THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED GENGRAS CHEVROLET AT (860) 748-4355 (585 CONNECTICUT BLVD, EAST HARTFORD, CT 06108) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WERE UNAWARE OF ANY BRAKE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
MY TRUCK WOULD BRAKE NORMALLY EXCEPT WHEN I STOPPED, THEN AT LOW SPEED THE TRUCK WOULD FAIL TO STOP. I ALMOST GOT INTO MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS (HITTING WALLS, POLES, A BUS) AND WAS EVEN WORSE GOING DOWNHILL. IT TOOK BOTH FEET AND ALL MY WEIGHT TO GET THE TRUCK TO STOP. MY DEALER SAID THE VACUUM PUMP WAS AT 11PSI WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN 27. EVENTUALLY SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET INTO A BAD ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE.
TRANSMISSION ALWAYS SHIFTED HARD AND FINALLY STOPPED SHIFTING AT ALL WHILE IN MOTION (BACKING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY). DESPITE TAKING IT A CHEVY DEALERSHIP FOR 3 YEARS FOR MAINTENANCE, WE WERE NEVER TOLD THEIR WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND ONLY WHEN WE TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP TO GET A SECOND OPINION WERE WE TOLD THIS WAS A KNOWN FACTORY DEFECT ON SEVERAL GM MODELS. WE ENDED UP HAVING TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT ALONG WITH THE REAR END TO THE TUNE OF OVER $5,000. LEMON LAW DOES NOT HOLD UP BECAUSE WE DID NOT HAVE ANY WORK DONE UNDER THE WARRANTY (WHICH ONLY COVERED THE FIRST YEAR).
WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS AND THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED A FEW TIMES THE BRAKE PEDAL GETS VERY STIFF AND WILL NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IF NEEDED IMMEDIATELY.
GM HAS RECALL 14315 FOR MY YEAR MAKE AND STYLE OF VEHICLE. THEY TELL ME THAT MY VIN IS NOT LISTED FOR THIS RECALL. MY VEHICLE HAS THE PROBLEMS LISTED IN THIS RECALL. ALL SOUNDS DO NOT WORK INCLUDING THE SEAT BEAT REMINDER, THE DOOR OPEN REMINDER AND ALL VEHICLE SOUNDS FROM THE SPEAKERS. GM WILL NOT REPAIR IT AS MY VIN DOES NOT COME UP IN THERE SYSTEM FOR THIS RECALL. HOW CAN MY VIN BE INCLUDED FOR THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
LOSS OF POWER STEERING, ALL DIGITAL SCREENS GO BLACK, COMPUTER SHUTS DOWN, FINALLY RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTTING OFF. AT THIS POINT NOTHING OPERATES INCLUDING 4 WAYS. AFTER 2-3 MINUTES ALL RESETS AND TRUCK STARTS AND OPERATES AGAIN. DEALER AND GM TECHS HAVE GONE THROUGH THE TRUCK FOR A WEEK WITH OUT A SOLUTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 10 TIMES ,WITH A FEW TIMES BEING IN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS POSITION. ALL ELECTRICAL,ALL GROUNDS AND OBC ARE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. THERE IS NO SOLUTION AND THIS IS NOT THE ONLY TRUCK WITH THIS ISSUE. GM HAS A MAJOR AND POTENTIALLY LETHAL PROBLEM AND HAVE NOT PUT OUT A RECALL AS OF YET. THIS WOULD LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THEY HAVE NOT FIGURED OUT THE ISSUE OR ARE WAITING FOR FATALITIES BEFORE INVESTIGATING.
WAS DRIVING ON FREEWAY,WAS CHANGING LANES SO I STEPPED ON THE GAS TO SWITCH LANES AND THEN CHECK ENGINE STARTED FLASHING AND STABILITRAK ACTIVE LIGHT CAME ON. SLOWED DOWN AND FELT THE TRUCK WITH SOME UNUSUAL SHAKING, WHEN I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AND INTO THE STREET AS SOON AS I STOPPED IT FELT LIKE THE ENGINE WANTED TO SHUT OFF BUT IT DID NOT,TRUCK WAS SHAKING AT EVERY STOP I MADE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON AND STABILITRAK ACTIVE LIGHT ON
I WAS PARKING MY TRUCK IN A PARKING LOT SPACE, AND WHEN THE TRUCK WAS MOVING SLOW, I APPLIED THE BRAKES, AND HAD TO PUSH VERY HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GET THE TRUCK TO STOP. I HAD A LOCAL DEALERSHIP RUN A DIAGNOSTIC ON THE TRUCK, AND IT CAME UP AS A FAULTY BRAKE VACUUM PUMP.
WHEN DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AT ABOUT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH , ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS SUDDENLY DIED AND VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. COASTED TO A STOP WITHOUT POWER BRAKES OR STEERING CONTROL, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. TURNED OFF AND ON IGNITION AND COMPUTER SYSTEM HAD ME "TURN ON AND OFF DRIVER WINDOW'. ALSO REFERENCE A FEW OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ERRORS THAT CLEARED AFTER ONCE AGAIN STARTING VEHICLE. DURING THE RESULTING 20 MINUTE DRIVE HOME, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHOWED A FEW ERRORS, ONCE WHEN INITIATING A TURN SIGNAL AND HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED BUT CAR DID NOT SUDDENLY DIE. NEXT DAY IT IS NOW RUNNING OKAY SO FAR. RESEARCHING THIS SUDDEN ELECTRICAL AND TOTAL SYSTEM SHUTDOWN ONLINE I FOUND NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH 2014/2015 SILVERADO MODELS FROM OTHERS. DISCUSSED WITH LOCAL DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND FOUND THEY HAVE SEEN OTHER CUSTOMERS LOCALLY WITH THIS INTERMITTENT ISSUE AND HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND OR FIX THE PROBLEM.
BRAKE VACUUM PUMP FAILED WHILE ON THE FREEWAY CAUSING BRAKE PEDAL TO BE UNRESPONSIVE ALMOST CAUSING MAJOR ACCIDENT. THIS IS LISTED AS UNDER INVESTIGATION. THERE WAS NO WARNING OR LIGHT. BRAKE PEDAL INSTANTLY BECAME STIFF AND COULD NOT BE PRESSED DOWN. CHEVROLET FIXED THIS BY REPLACING ONLY THE PUMP. IT'S RECOMMENDED THE VACUUM LINES AND BRAKE BOOSTER BE REPLACED TOO DUE TO POTENTIAL OIL LEAKAGE WHICH STATES WILL CAUSE PUMP TO FAIL AGAIN. CHEVY DID NOT REPLACE ADDITIONAL PARTS FOR ME.
WHEN HAVING TO APPLY THE BRAKES REPEATEDLY, SLOW TRAFFIC, STOP LIGHTS, BACKING A TRAILER. THE BRAKES BECOME EXTREMELY HARD TO PUSH AND DO NOT FUNCTION. EXCEPTIONALLY DANGEROUS BACKING A TRAILER DOWN A BOAT RAMP OR IN STOP AND GO TRAFFICE. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR
WHEN TRAVELING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, THE BRAKE PEDAL GETS VERY HARD AND YOU CAN NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES TOO MANY, I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, $709.00 LATER, THEY SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED THE VACUUM PUMP. DEALER STATED THEY HAVE HAD OTHER VEHICLES BROUGHT IN FOR THE SAME REASON. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM.

ALSO, THE BRAKE ASSIST FAILURE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND LATER TAKEN TO CLASSIC CHEVROLET OF SUGAR LAND (13115 SOUTHWEST FREEWAY, SUGAR LAND, TX 77478). THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V578000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND THE REPAIRS HAD TO COVERED BY THE OWNER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
ALWAYS HAD TRUCK GARAGED BUT NOW IN DRIVEWAY AND WHEN IT RAINS THE FLOOR FILLS WITH WATER
PAINT IS PEALING OFF DOORS, ROOF, HOOD, ETC.
THE TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND I HAVE NEVER HOOKED UP TO A TRAILER THAT HAS BRAKES. THIS LIGHTS COMES ON SPORADICALLY. CONCERNED AS I HAVE HEARD THAT CHEVROLET USES TOO LIGHT OF WIRE IN THEIR LIGHT TRUCKS. THE TRUCK IS IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IT COMES ON IN ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS (CITY, FREEWAY, HIGHWAYS, GRAVEL ROADS...). *TR
I WAS ON A CITY ROAD DRIVING AT 45 MPH ABOUT 5 MINUTES AFTER I USED THE FACTORY REMOTE START. SMOKE STARTED POURING FROM BEHIND THE REAR SEAT AND THEN ONE OF THE BACK WINDOWS SHATTERED. THIS IS A WIDELY REPORTED ISSUE AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR IT.
FRONT SUSPENSION NOISE - DURING COLD WEATHER AND WHEN FIRST DRIVING WITHIN THE FIRST 1/2 MILE, A LOUD NOISE COMES FROM THE FRONT SUSPENSION AFTER DRIVING OVER A BUMP OR SPEED BUMP. THIS ONLY HAPPENED WHEN VERY COLD AND WITHIN THE FIRST 1/2 MILE. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AT 35000 MILES (KOONS CHEVROLET, TYSONS CORNER, VA) AND UNDER WARRANTY THEY RE-TORQUED THE FRONT FRAME CROSS MEMBER AND LOWER CONTROL ARMS. I ACTUALLY COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT CHEVROLET AND THE DEALER STATED THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. IN ALL MY YEARS REPAIRING CARS, I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A "FRAME CROSS MEMBER" REQUIRING RE-TORQUEING ESPECIALLY ON A NEW VEHICLE. IF IT WAS LOOSE ALONG WITH THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS, THAT WOULD INDICATE A SERIOUS PROBLEM. PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. 6 MONTHS LATER WHEN COLD AGAIN, BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND THEY NOW STATE THAT "THE SWAY BAR BUSHINGS REQUIRED LUBRICATION". AGAIN, I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A RUBBER BUSHING REQUIRING LUBRICATION. IMMEDIATELY AFTER TAKING THE TRUCK FROM THE DEALER, I TOOK PICTURES OF THE SWAY BAR BUSHINGS SOWING ALL THE LUBRICANT OOZING OUT. I HAVE ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE WITH GM AND THEY HAVE BEEN NON-RESPONSIVE. MY CONCERN IS WITH ALL THE VIBRATIONS THAT THESE TRUCKS HAVE REPORTED, THE LIFE CYCLE OF THE FRONT SWAY BAR BUSHINGS WILL BE REDUCED AND COULD HAVE A SERIOUS DETRIMENTAL AFFECT DURING A CRASH AS THE VEHICLE GETS OLDER. I WAS TOLD THERE IS NO GM SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE ISSUE. THE DEALER JUST WANTS THE PROBLEM TO GO AWAY AND NOT SEE THE TRUCK AGAIN. GM NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE PROPERLY FROM A TECHNICAL POINT OF VIEW FROM THEIR ENGINEERS.
MY PAINT IT FLAKING/PEELING AROUND MY WHEEL WELLS AND THE DEALER SAYS THEY CANT FIX IT. THE PAINT JUST KEEPS PEELING AND PEELING I HAVE THREE SPOTS AND THEY KEEP GETTING BIGGER TO THE POINT THEY ARE RUSTING. THE PROBLEM IS THE PAINT ISN'T STICKING TO THE METAL/PRIMER VERY CHEAP PAINT.
IT WOULD ROLL EVEN WITH THE FOOT ON THE BRAKE AT LOW SPEEDS FAULTY AIR PUMP HAD TO GET AIR PUMP, TUBE, AIR PUMP BELT,ALTERNATOR BELT, AIR CONDITION BELT THAT COST ME $700.

THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 56,000.
DRIVING DOWN SINGLE LANE ROAD I BEGAN TO STOP FOR RED LIGHT, AS I BEGAN TO DEPRESS BRAKE PEDAL BUT IT WAS STIFF AND HAD SIGNIFICANT EFFECT SLOWING MY TRUCK. I DROVE OF RIGHT SIDE OF ROAD INTO WET GRASS TOO AVOID COLLISION OF SUV STOPED IN FRONT OF ME. THERE WAS NO LOSS OF CONTROL OR DAMAGE DONE TO EXTERIOR OF TRUCK OR MYSELF . AS I'M ALMOST COMPLETELY STOPED THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOY FOR NO APPARENT REASON CAUSING SEVER DAMAGE IT THE INTERIOR PANELS, HEADLINER AND BOTH FRONT SEAT BELTS THAT HAVE THAT CONTAIN SMALL CHARGE PERMINTLY LOCK AND NOW ARE UN USABLE.I WAS ONLY PERSON IN TRUCK BUT THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT BELT IS RETRACTED AND LOCKED GUITAR STRING TIGHT.
AT LOW SPEEDS (SUCH AS IN PARKING LOTS, AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, ECT.) I LOSE BRAKE ASSIST, MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STOP.
FIRST AND FOREMOST, I'D LIKE TO SAY THAT I'VE BEEN COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH MY VEHICLE UP UNTIL RECENTLY. A LITTLE OF THREE YEARS AGO, I DECIDED TO GIVE UP MY DODGE AND SWITCH OVER TO CHEVY. I LIKED WHAT THEY HAD TO OFFER IN THE 2015 SILVERADO. LONG STORY SHORT, A FEW MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY, MY AC STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR ALL OF A SUDDEN. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE TRUCK IN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED AND FOUND OUT THAT MY CONDENSER HAD A LEAK. I THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS ODD DUE TO THE FACT THAT I BARELY DRIVE THE TRUCK, LITERALLY. IT ONLY HAS ABOUT 28,600MILES ON IT IN ABOUT 40 MONTHS. WITH THAT SAID, I PROCEEDED TO DO A LITTLE RESEARCH. MY FINDINGS WERE THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ALL TO COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE TRUCKS SINCE THE 2014 DESIGN. IS THERE ANYWAY TO GET SOMEONE WITHIN GM TO TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT WHAT IS OBVIOUSLY SOME TYPE OF FLAW OR DEFECT IN EQUIPMENT DUE TO POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP? YOU MAY SAY THAT I SHOULD'VE PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND ALL BUT I FEEL LIKE A COMPONENT SUCH AS A CONDENSER SHOULDN'T BE DEFECTIVE SO SOON EITHER, ESPECIALLY ON A LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE THAT'S BARELY OUT OF WARRANTY. EVEN IF GM ISN'T WILLING TO HELP ME, I'D BE HAPPY WITH THEM FIXING THE PROBLEM FOR FUTURE CONSUMERS SO THAT THEY DON'T BECOME A "VICTIM" LIKE I HAVE. IT SEEMS LIKE THIS HAS BEEN A BIG PROBLEM WITH THESE TRUCKS AND SOME OTHERS BUT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF ANY RECALLS OR ANYTHING. WHILE SEARCHING ONLINE, I FOUND A "SPECIAL COVERAGE/PROGRAM" NUMBER (17336). IT WAS ALSO ALONG WITH NHTSA ID 10135138.
I HAVE A 2015 1500 SILVERADO AND IT IS HAVING BRAKE ISSUES. THE PEDDLE BECOMES HARD TO DEPRESS AND THE TRUCK WILL NOT COME TO A STOP. I HAVE NOTICED THIS SEVERAL TIMES COMING TO A STOP AT LOW IDLE ON THE STREET. I DROPPED IT OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP ONLY FOR THEM TO TELL ME IT WOULD BE $1100 AND GM DID NOT HAVE A RECALL ON IT. THEY SAID THE VACUUM PUMP AND SEVERAL OTHER THINGS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO FIX THIS.
WHEN I GO SLOW THE BREAK PEDAL GET SO HARD I CAN STOP
ON 12/15/2018 MY BRAKE VACUUM PUMP WENT OUT. I HAD IT REPLACED AT A DEALERSHIP. TOTAL COST $1506.56. MASTER CYLINDER, BRAKE BOOSTER, AND A CONNECTING PIPE HAD TO BE REPLACED ALSO. APRIL 2019, I RECEIVE A LETTER FROM GM, DESCRIBING THIS ISSUE AND SAYING IF I HAVE LESS THAN 72,000 MILES OR BOUGHT IT NEW WITHIN THE LAST 6 YEARS,WHICHEVER COME FIRST, THEY WILL FIX IT. BRAKES ARE A VERY SERIOUS COMPONENT. THIS PROBLEM DATES BACK TO THE 2014,S. I FEEL GM SHOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR MY REPAIR COST, SINCE THE PROBLEM CAME FROM THEIR PLANT. I HAVE MORE MILES ON MY TRUCK THAN THEY SAY THEY WILL COVER. BRAKES AND THE COMPONENTS ARE THINGS THEY SHOULD COVER. I HAVE INVOICES AND PROOF THAT I PAID THESE EXPENSES. EVERY PERSON PAYS HARD EARNED MONEY FOR A NEW VEHICLE. MANUFACTURERS SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO BACK THEIR VEHICLES. I WAS DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET WHEN THIS PUMP WENT OUT. AT LOW SPEED IN A PARKING LOT OR IN OUT OF A PARKING SPOT THE BRAKE PEDAL INTERMITTENTLY BECOMES EXCESSIVE AND NON-FUNCTIONING. VEHICLE NEEDS TO ROLL TO A STOP ON ITS OWN. ONCE STOPPED AND PUT INTO GEAR PEDAL FUNCTIONS AGAIN. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. AFTER DOING A SEARCH ONLINE I SEE A NUMBER OF OTHER OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE. SEEMS TO BE A BAD VACUUM PUMP. WANTED TO REPORT IT AS WELL HOPING IT WILL LEAD TO A SAFETY RECALL.
WHEN PLACING THE TRUCK IN REVERSE OR DRIVE THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY ENGAGE. I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK NEW AND HAVE HAD TWO REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSIONS FOR THIS AND OTHER ISSUES. DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT GENERAL MOTORS CALLS THIS DELAYED ENGAGEMENT. DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THERE IS A BULLETIN STATING THEY WILL NO LONGER REPLACE TRANSMISSIONS FOR DELAYED ENGAGEMENT. THIS IS UNSAFE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED IN GEAR AND THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED TO GET THE VEHICLE TO MOVE AND IT DOES NOT MOVE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS AND THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED HARDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO MOVE BUT SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION WILL ENGAGE AND THE VEHICLE WILL LUNGE AND UNEXPECTED DISTANCE. THIS SITUATION OCCURS MORE OFTEN WHEN THE TRUCK IS SITTING OVERNIGHT BUT CAN HAPPEN OTHER TIMES ALSO. I AM FAMILIAR WITH THE SITUATION AND USUALLY REMEMBER TO NOT ACCELERATE AND WAIT AN EXTENDED TIME FOR ENGAGEMENT.
I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE FROM AFTER IT SHOWED WHAT I BELIEVED TO BE SIGNS OF THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS) RECALL AFFECTING IT. THE DEALERSHIP APPLIED THE FIX THAT GM HAD AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. THE VERY NEXT DAY I EXPERIENCED WHAT I BELIEVED TO BE THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM ACTING UP AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS TRAVELING AT 55 M.P.H. ON THE HIGHWAY BEGINNING THE INTERCHANGE TO ANOTHER HIGHWAY AND COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 SECONDS. THE LOSS OF STEERING WAS ALMOST AS SOON AS I STARTED THE TURN AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO GO OFF OF THE HIGHWAY. THEN FOR THE NEXT 5-7 SECONDS I WAS ABLE TO MANUALLY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WITHOUT POWER STEERING. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE POWER STEERING TURNED BACK ON AND, BECAUSE OF HOW HARD I WAS TRYING TO TURN THE WHEEL, I ALMOST ENDED UP IN THE LANE TO MY RIGHT WHERE ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS. I HAD NO PRIOR ISSUES LIKE THIS UNTIL THE RECALL WAS WORKED AT THE DEALERSHIP. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP THE TRUCK WAS ACTING WEIRD, AND AT A STOP THE TRUCK FELT AS IF IT WAS STRUGGLING TO STAY RUNNING. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED AND AGREED TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK TO THEM TWO DAYS LATER. NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME IT IS DUE TO BAD BATTERY CABLES AND THAT CAUSED POWER LOSS DURING THE TURN. THEY SPENT HOURS SCANNING THE SYSTEM TO FIND THAT THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED, WHICH THEY CLAIM THEY COULD NOT FIND, BUT THERE WAS A WARNING LIGHT THAT SHOWED ON THE DASH NOTIFYING ME THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS OUT AND TO DRIVE WITH CARE, SO I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THEY DID NOT FIND IT DURING THEIR SCAN. THEY THEN TELL ME THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN, THAT CAME OUT A MONTH AFTER THE EPS RECALL DID, AND IT WILL BE AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE. I CANNOT STOP THINKING THAT THIS ISSUE IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE EPS SOFTWARE FIX AND SHOULD BE INCLUDED TO THE RECALL TO REPLACE THE BATTERY CABLES.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE BRAKES STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY. THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO PUSH DOWN AND WOULD NOT STOP THE TRUCK WITHIN THE NORMALLY EXPECTED STOPPING DISTANCE. MOST OF THE TIME THE BRAKES WORKED PERFECTLY FINE - THIS ISSUE SEEMED TO HAPPEN RANDOMLY, BUT AFTER IT HAPPENED ENOUGH TIMES I REALIZED IT WAS ONLY HAPPENING AT SLOW SPEEDS. IT HAPPENED TO ME IN A COUPLE PARKING LOTS, THE DRIVE-THRU AT MCDONALDS, AND WHILE BACKING UP A TRAILER. THESE INCIDENTS WERE SEPARATED BY MANY MONTHS, WITH THE BRAKES FINE IN BETWEEN. IT WASN'T UNTIL I RECEIVED THE SERVICE BULLETIN LETTER FROM CHEVY THAT I FULLY REALIZED WHAT WAS GOING ON. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE TRUCK IN FOR SERVICE AND THE TECHNICIAN WAS ABLE TO VERIFY THE PROBLEM. THEY REPLACED THE VACUUM PUMP AND THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN FINE SINCE. CHEVY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST BECAUSE I WAS BEYOND THEIR 72,000 MILE LIMIT (ALTHOUGH THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED BEFORE I WAS AT THAT MILEAGE), SO I PAID $561 OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE THE NEW PUMP INSTALLED. I FEEL THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL. I REALIZED THE SERIOUSNESS OF IT THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED TO ME WHICH WAS WHEN I WAS BACKING UP THE TRAILER FOR MY KIDS BOY SCOUT TROOP AND FOUND MYSELF UNABLE TO STOP QUICKLY. I HAD TO LEAVE THE TRAILER WHERE I GOT IT TO STOP INSTEAD OF WHERE WE WERE TRYING TO PLACE IT.
ENGINE POWER REDUCED ERROR POPS UP AND AND BASICALLY KILLS ANY ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES INCLUDING TWICE AT INTERSTATE SPEED AND FEW TIMES UNDER 45MPH. IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN WHILE CROSSING AN INTERSECTION, RAILROAD, ETC., THE VEHICLE WOULD BE A SITTING DUCK.

WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING FAILED AND THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD, ABNORMAL NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED TWICE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. IN ADDITION, ALL FOUR TIRES CONTAINED BUBBLES. THE TIRES AND BATTERY HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. PRESTON HOOD CHEVROLET (212 HOLLYWOOD BLVD NW, FORT WALTON BEACH, FL 32548, (850) 610-7278) DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE REPAIRS WERE UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000 THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WHENEVR I BACK THE TRUCK UP AT SLOW SPEEDS, THE BRAKES TEMPORARILY FAIL FOR APPROXIMATELY 1-3 FEET. COMING TO A STOP AT SLOW SPEEDS CAN ALSO CAUSE THE TRUCK TO TAKE EXTRA DISTANCE TO STOP. I HAVE CHANGED TO NEW BRAKE PADS, TURNED THE ROTORS, AND PURCHASED NEW TIRES. THE TRUCK BOUNCES SEVERELY WHEN TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OVER 50 MPH ON CONCRETE ROADS. ONLY ON CONCRETE. ASPHALT HAS NORMAL RIDE AS SOON AS THE ROAD TRANSITIONS THEN THE TRUCK BOUNCES.
PURCHASED USED 2015 SILVERADO LTZ WITH 87K MILES ON 12/1/2018 FROM DEALER. ON 12/2/2018 WHILE BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE FOR FIRST TIME, BRAKE PEDAL WOULD ONLY MOVE 1/4 INCH WITH GREAT EFFORT (80-100LBS EFFORT), AND ONLY APPLIED ENOUGH BRAKING FORCE TO STOP TRUCK MOVING 2 MPH OVER 5 OR 6 FEET. WAS ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY RECREATE PROBLEM MOVING FORWARD WHILE UNDER 5-6MPH, EACH TIME TAKING ROUGHLY 10-12 FEET TO STOP WITH GREAT BRAKING EFFORT. PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN 12/3 AFTER A SHORT TRIP (3 MILES, 40MPH) WHILE SLOWLY BACKING INTO PARKING SPACE. PUT TRUCK IN DRIVE AND THE BRAKE PROBLEM PERSISTED. BACKED UP AGAIN, PROBLEM PERSISTED. MAXIMUM BRAKING FORCE WOULD NOT STOP TRUCK FROM ROLLING DOWN 7% GRADE FROM DEAD STOP. MAXIMUM BRAKING FORCE WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT STOP TRUCK IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS AGAIN. **** MUST DRIVE IN FAR RIGHT OR LEFT LANE TO ENSURE SPACE TO SWERVE INTO WHEN BRAKES FAIL TO AVOID COLLISION. **** EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD - WILL CAUSE ACCIDENTS, INJURIES & PROPERTY DAMAGE. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ASAP.
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AND WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP IT GOT REALLY HARD, HAD NO BRAKE PRESSURE TO STOP, THANKFULLY I HAD NO CONCRETE BARRIERS OR LIGHT POSTS IN FRONT OF ME TO CAUSE ANY DAMAGE JUST GRASS ON A HILL TO HELP ME STOP. SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS BACKING UP TO MY GARAGE THAT WAS ON A SLIGHT HILL AND THE BRAKES GOT HARD BUT I WAS ABLE TO STOP BY PUTTING THE TRUCK IN PARK AND USING MY EMERGENCY BRAKE. THIRD TIME I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 65MPH AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO GET OFF OF AN EXIT I NOTICED MY BRAKE STARTED TO GET HARD THANK GOODNESS I HAVE A TOW HAUL BOTTON AND I USED THAT TO HELP ME SLOW DOWN TO GET OFF THE EXIT. EVERYTIME MY BRAKES HAVE GOTTEN HARD IS WHEN I HAVE TO BACK DOWN A HILL, PULL DOWN A HILL, PARK IN A PARKING SPOT OR HAVE TO PRESS THE BRAKES CONSTANTLY TO SLOW DOWN.
