TRUCK HAS BECOME VERY HARD TO STOP LATLEY. BRAKE PADS LOOK NEW. DEALER SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG. ALMOST REAR ENDED MULTIPLE CARS THIS MONTH. THINKING OF JUST TRADING IT IN ON A RAM. TRUCK DOESN'T WANT TO STOP!!!
AT LOW SPEEDS WHILE IN MOTION EITHER IN TRAFFIC, DRIVEWAYS OR PARKING LOTS THE POWER BRAKES WOULD STOP WORKING CAUSING THE TRUCK TO NOT BRAKE PROPERLY. THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME VERY STIFF AND WOULD NOT STOP. WHILE THIS DID NOT CAUSE ANY ACCIDENTS, IT WAS A NEAR MISS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. I TOOK IT TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER WHERE THEY SAID THE BRAKE "VACUUM PUMP HAS FAILED". THEY STATED IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND WOULD COST $700.89. THE PUMP WAS REPLACED ON 11/28/2018, WITH NO OCCURANCES OF THIS ISSUE SINCE. THE TRUCK HAD 59,108 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF VACUUM PUMP REPLACEMENT. THE FIRST BRAKE ISSUE WAS AROUND 50,000 MILES AND HAPPENED ABOUT 8-10 TIMES BETWEEN JUNE AND NOVEMBER 2018.
AT LOW SPEEDS I HAVE NO BREAKS AND THE PEDAL IS ROCK HARD. ZERO TO 1/4' OF MOVEMENT AND THE TRUCK WILL NOT STOP. I NEARLY HIT SOMEONE.
WHILE BACKING UP WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED THE PEDAL HAS VERY LITTLE TRAVEL AND IS HARD TO PUSH DOWN CAUSING VEHICLE TO CONTINUE BACKING WITH LITTLE STOPPING POWER OR EFFECT. THIS TAKES EFFECT ONLY WHEN BACKING AFTER RESTARTING VEHICLE. SYSTEM CHECKED AT FIRESTONE TIRE CENTER AND RESULT INDICATED BRAKE VACUUM POWER WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THIS OCCURS ALMOST DAILY WHEN BACKING UP.
BREAKING SYSTEM VACUUM PUMP FAILURE. COMMON AND KNOWN PROBLEM. BRAKES SPORADICALLY REQUIRE SUBSTANTIALLY MORE EFFORT TO SLOW VEHICLE AND INCREASES BREAKING DISTANCE SIGNIFICANT WITH NO WARNING. INCREASES LIKELIHOOD OF CRASHES. MINE FAILED WHILE DRIVING 30 MILES AN HOUR ON AN EXIT RAMP ALMOST CAUSING A COLLISION. GM REFUSES TO COVER THIS UNDER WARRANTY AND DESPITE KNOWING THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL.
2015 SILVERADO 1500, 4X4, 41,000 MILES ON ODOMETER. AT SLOW SPEED ON CITY STREET DRIVING STRAIGHT (UNDER 5MPH), COMPLETE LOSS OF ALL POWER ASSISTANCE OF BRAKES. DRIVER NEEDED TO APPLY EXTREME MANUAL PRESSURE AT PEDAL TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP AND NOT ROLL INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF IT. IMMEDIATELY PARKED, CAME BACK ISSUES PERSISTED IN PARKING LOT, BUT THEN WENT AWAY WHEN AFTER SPEED OF APPROX 10MPH REACHED. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR DISPLAY INDICATORS TRIGGERED DURING INCIDENT. ISSUE HAS NOT OCCURRED AGAIN. (APPROX 70 MILES SINCE ISSUE FIRST OCCURRED)
AT LOW SPEEDS MY BRAKES ARE VERY HARD TO PRESS. THE PEDAL GETS REALLY TIGHT AND WILL NOT PRESS DOWN. THE LONGER YOU TRY TO PRESS THE TIGHTER THEY GET. THE TRUCK WILL BARELY STOP BEFORE I ALMOST HIT SOMETHING. DOES NOT DO IT EVERY TIME, BUT IT SEEMS TO BE MORE FREQUENTLY. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN I GO FROM A STOP, THEN ACCELERATE SLOWLY AND THEN TRY TO SLOW DOWN TO A STOP (EX. WHEN PARKING).
RECALL ON BRAKING SYSTEM, REPORTED TO GM DEALER, WAITED, DROVE VEHICLE WHILE STILL ON RECALL, DEALERSHIP QUOTED THAT IT WILL BE OKAY, ( TRAVEL TO MED APPOINTMENTS) AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, FINALLY GOT IT IN, (ITS FIXED), CONTINUED DRIVING IT, STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH BRAKING, THE PEDAL WAS JUMPING, OH! THAT'S NORMAL STATED THE TECHNICIAN, I CONTINUED DRIVING, I CALLED THE DEALER SHIP I BOUGHT THE TRUCK FROM, NEW IN 2015, EXPLAINED EXPLAIN TO THEM THE PROBLEM IM HAVING, (SAID WELL BRING IT TO THE DEALER SHIP NEAR YOU, DID THAT!) AGAIN NOWHERE, CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND ASKED IF THEY WOULD LOOK AT IT, WELL BRING IT IN, TECH TOOK FOR A RIDE, THAT'S WHAT THEY NORMALLY DO, VIBRATE LIKE THAT , YAH. WELL FRUSTRATED AS I WAS WE CONTINUED TO DRIVE, TO MY MED APPOINTMENTS, WELL, COMING BACK STOP AT AN ESTABLISHMENT, AS WE WERE PULLING IN THE TRUCK WOULDN'T STOP!, AND I SLID RIGHT INTO A MENTAL POLE, DAMAGING THE ENTIRE FRONT OF OUR TRUCK, THE FORCE OF THE HIT LUNGED BOTH I AND MY WIFE FORWARD AT AN ABRUPT STOP! MY WIFE SUSTAIN A NECK AND BACK INJURY, MY LEFT SHOULDER, REPORT TO INS, AND PROPERTY OWNER, MY INS PAY OUT FOR THE DAMAGE. I REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER SHIP, WE'LL HAVE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE START TO SHAKE ABNORMALLY WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE HIMSELF BY REPLACING THE SPARK PLUGS AND IGNITION COILS HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
I WAS COMING OFF A HILL AND TRYING TO BRAKE BEFORE MAKING A TURN ONTO ANOTHER ROAD. THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT DEPRESS, FELT VERY HARD AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A GARAGE AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A FAULT IN THE BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER. I WILL ATTACH THE INVOICE FOR THE PARTS. THE TRUCK IS STILL GETTING FIXED AND DO NOT HAVE AN INVOICE FOR LABOR YET.
NOTICED FAILURE OF VEHICLE TO STOP. LACK OF POWER ASSIST BRAKING AT SLOW SPEEDS. BRAKE PEDAL IS ROCK HARD WITH LITTLE TO ZERO TRAVEL (1/4' AT MOST). VEHICLE WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE (REGARDLESS OF PRESSURE APPLIED TO BRAKE PEDAL) FOR SEVERAL FEET. WHILE THIS HAS OCCURRED IN BOTH FORWARD AND REVERSE GEARS; THE ISSUE IS CONSISTENTLY OBSERVED IN REVERSE.
JUST EXPERIENCED BRAKE FAILURE WHILE BACKING INTO PARKING SPACE AT LOW SPEED TRUCK HAS JUST TURNED 40,000 MILES. BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD TO DEPRESS AS IF THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF. NOT THE CASE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AND BRAKES WERE APPLIED WITH EXTREME PRESSURE AND FINALLY WAS ABLE TO STOP VEHICLE BEFORE I BOUNCED OFF OF CURB. I UNDERSTAND CHEVROLET IS AWARE OF THIS AND THERE IS SOME CLASS ACTION LAW SUITS OUT THERE. A TSB HAS BEEN ISSUED BUT, FROM ALL THE FORUMS I HAVE READ THIS DOES NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I WILL TAKE INTO DEALERSHIP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE IF IT DON'T KILL ME FIRST. HELP
WHILE BACKING UP FROM DRIVE WAY TRIED BRAKING TO STOP AND TRUCK CONTINUED TO TRAVEL ALMOST HITTING A VEHICLE THAT WAS PARKED ON THE STREET. THE NEXT DAY BEFORE TAKING THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT INSPECTED MADE A STOP AT THE GAS STATION AND AGAIN THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP. DEALER DIAGNOSE BAD VACUUM PUMP AND OIL IN BRAKE BOOSTER AND LINES ,ALL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED COSTING OVER $1,300 DOLLARS.
WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING STALL SLOWLY AND TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL. BRAKE PEDAL WAS VERY HARD TO PRESS AND USED BOTH FEET TO PRESS ON THE PEDAL TO EVENTUALLY MAKE THE TRUCK COME TO A STOP. CAUSED A MINOR (COSMETIC) SCRAPE ON PASSENGER SIDE FRONT BUMPER (SCRAPED CONCRETE WALL) DUE TO THE INABILITY TO STOP WHEN BRAKE WERE BEING PRESSED.
WHEN PUMPING BRAKES TO STOP, ON THE SECOND TO THIRD PUMP THE PEDAL GETS ROCK HARD AND VEHICLE VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP. LOSS OF VACUUM PRESSURE SEEMS TO BE THE ISSUE. IN THE GM DEALER NOW, TELLING ME THE VACUUM BOOSTER DEFECTIVE

THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO RADLEY CHEVROLET (3670 JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY, FREDERICKSBURG, VA 22408, (540) 898-4000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A VACUUM PUMP NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,320. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
VACUUM PUMP FOR BRAKE SYSTEM AND HOSE/TUBE THAT CONNECTS TO THE PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED AFTER I LOST BRAKES COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH MY TWO YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE BACK SEAT!! THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO AUTO REPAIR SHOP. MILEAGE WAS AT 55,096. THIS HAPPENED WHILE IN A DRIVE THRU LINE AT CHIC FILA. BRAKES GOT VERY HARD AND I JUST KEPT ROLLING INTO VEHICLE IN FRONT TO ME. I STOPPED ROLLING JUST SHORT OF HITTING THE VEHICLE. I SLOWLY WENT THROUGH THE LINE TO PARK THE VEHICLE IN THE PARKING LOT AND THE BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY ROCK HARD THE ENTIRE TIME. I HAD TO SIMPLY ROLL TO GET WHERE I NEEDED TO PARK SLOWLY.
AFTER DRIVING AT REGULAR SPEEDS BRAKES WORK FINE. IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC FEEL LIKE NO BRAKE PEDAL, HAVE TO PRESS VERY HARD TRUCK 2 GET TRUCK TO STOP.
VACUUM PUMP. MY VACUUM PUMP WENT OUT AS I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY. EVERY FEW PRESSES OF THE BRAKE PEDAL IT WOULD GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND IT TOOK MUCH LONGER TO STOP. IT WAS SCARY AND I AM VERY THANKFUL I DIDN'T GET IN A WRECK. I GOT IT FIXED AT MY CHEVROLET DEALER. THE COST FOR REPAIR WAS $600. WORST PART IS MY VEHICLE, A 2015, ONY HAD 27,000 MILES ON IT. STILL FEELS NEW AND THE BRAKES FAILED.
MY FATHER DIED AFTER HAVING A ACCIDENT IN HIS TRUCK ON 11/8/18. I BELIEVE IT IS ATTRIBUTED TO THE RECENT RECALL , LEADING TO HIM DYING AFTER BEING PULLED OUT THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AND COLLAPSED AFTERWARDS. THE STRESS FROM THIS ACCIDENT ATTRIBUTED TO HIS DEATH.
I BROUGHT MY 2015 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AS MY BRAKES WERE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. STOPPING REQUIRED VERY FORCEFULLY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP. ON NOVEMBER 7, 2018 THE REPAIR SHOP CONTACTED THE LOCAL CHEVY SERVICE MANAGER TO DETERMINE IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE GIVEN THAT THE VEHICLE IS A RECENT MODEL WITH LIMITED MILEAGE. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER TAKING A LENGTHY DRIVE THE VEHICLE HAD SAME BRAKE PROBLEMS MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO BRAKE GOING DOWN A HILL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE LOCAL AUTO REPAIR ON NOVEMBER 15TH. REPAIR SHOP CALLED LOCAL CHEVY DEALER AND SPOKE WITH PARTS MANAGER TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON RECENT MODEL CHEVY SILVERADO AS THEY HAD A 2016 SILVERADO IN THERE SHOP SAME DAY FOR SAME PROBLEM. CHEVY DEALER PARTS MANAGER INDICATED THERE WAS NOT A CURRENT RECALL BUT THEY DID NOTICE AN ISSUE AS THEY HAD SOLD 10 ABS PUMPS IN JUST ONE WEEK! THE LOCAL REPAIR SHOP REPLACED THE ABS PUMP. THE DEFECTIVE BRAKE EQUIPMENT PLACED MY FAMILY AT RISK AND COST ME MORE THAN $900. MOST IMPORTANTLY THIS DEFECTIVE BRAKE EQUIPMENT IN THE RECENT MODEL CHEVY SILVERADO IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. HAD THERE BEEN A NEED TO STOP QUICKLY I FEEL CONFIDENT I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO AVOID A COLLISION.
SUDDEN LOSS OF BRAKES WHILE SLOW SPEED MANEUVERS SUCH AS TURNING AND PARKING. BRAKES EITHER BECOME VERY HARD TO DEPRESS OR DEPRESS TO FLOOR. VERY DANGEROUS! CHEVROLET HAS A TSB OUT BECAUSE IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT HAS YET TO BE RECALLED. MOST LIKELY DUE TO THE EXPENSE RELATED TO THE REPAIR.$1500. PLEASE ADDRESS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT KEPT THE VEHICLE PARKED DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
LOSS OF BRAKING AT IDLE SPEED BROUGHT T OK DESLER GHEY REPLACED MULTIPLE COMPONENTS EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERED ALL BUT $100
MENARDS ENTRANCE PARKING LOT, APPROACHING A LEFT TURN INTO THE PARKING LOT, APPLIED BRAKES AND SLID INTO THE CORNER POLE LOCATED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE BUILDING, TRUCK WAS UNABLE TO STOP!, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF MY VEHICLE AND CAUSING PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO MY WIFE. BEFORE ACCIDENT HAPPENED I DID REPORT THE FAULTY BRAKING SYSTEM TO LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP 3X, STILL HAVING ISSUES, 2ND ACCIDENT IN A PARKING LOT TRUCK AGAIN WOULDN'T STOP! RUNNING INTO THE SIDE OF A CEMENT PARKING WALL, THIS IS WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN THE 4TH X AND THEY TELL THAT IT WAS FIXED! AND AGAIN WHILE DRIVING OUT OF THE DEALER SHIP SHOP DROVE ABOUT A MILE, COMING TO PARK THE TRUCK AGAIN WOULDN'T STOP HAD TO AVOID HITTING A ONCOMING CAR THAT WAS LEAVING THAT AREA. AFTER ALL THIS I CONTACTED GM HEADQUARTER AND THEY SENT A INSPECTOR OUT TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, RECENTLY CONTACTED ME AND EXPLAIN THAT WELL THE TRUCK WAS IN AN ACCIDENT! AND THEY REPLACED THE VACUUM BRAKE WITH A NEW ONE! THE TRUCK IS OPERATING OKAY! ALREADY FRUSTRATED ASKED WHAT ABOUT THE DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK! AND TO MY WIFE, RESPONSE I WILL HAVE TO GET BACK TO YOU! DID GET BACK TO ME WELL WE CAN PAY FOR THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK DAMAGE BUT THAT'S IT, WHAT ABOUT MY WIFES NECK INJURY, NO REPLY, ASK TO GET HIM A ESTIMATE AND FAX. SO THAT'S WHERE IM AT WITH THIS, STILL WAITING, WITH MY WIFE STILL ENDURING PAIN AFTER THE 1ST ACCIDENT. NO SATISFACTION YET.
OUR TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD THEM DRIVE IT THEY SAID THEY WERE AWARE OF THE SITUATION AND SAID THEY WOULD DOCUMENT THE PROBLEM THAT GM IS WORKING ON A RECALL NOTICE BUT IT WOULD BE JANUARY 2019 BEFORE ANYTHING CAN BE DONE OUR TRUCK IS NOW DOWN AND WE CAN'T WAIT TIL JANUARY TO GET THE RECALL NOTICE TO GET IT FIXED WE DEPEND ON THIS VEHICLE EVERYDAY TO GO TO WORK NOW WE'RE DOWN ONE VEHICLE THE DEALERSHIP IS NOT TRYING TO HELP US GET OUR VEHICLE FIXED OR REPLACED WITHOUT THE RECALL NOTICE. THEY HAVE SEVERAL VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM SITTING AT THERE DEALERSHIP 2015-2017 SILVERADO TRUCKS

THE CONTACT HAD TO PLACE THE VEHICLE INTO PARK IN ORDER FOR THE BRAKES TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MODERN CHEVROLET OF BURLINGTON (2616 ALAMANCE RD, BURLINGTON, NC 27215, 336-229-5501) WHERE THEY REPLACED THE VACUUM PUMP AND BELT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
WHEN TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS AFTER TRUCK HAD BEEN IN USE FOR 2.5 HOURS, BRAKE PEDAL WOULD SUDDENLY BECOME VERY HARD TO DEPRESS AND BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 FEET. CONDITION PRESENT IN BOTH DRIVE AND REVERSE. HAPPENED ON 4 OCCASIONS, ALL AFTER 2.5 HOUR TRIPS. MECHANIC HAS FOUND DEFECTIVE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP AND BRAKE BOOSTER AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE AND FINDING OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM.

I WAS DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND I WENT TO HIT MY BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WAS HARD AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP. I PUT MY FLASHERS ON AND WENT VERY SLOW TO THE NEXT EXIT. I WENT TO PARK THE TRUCK AT THE HOTEL I WAS STAYING AT SHORTLY AFTER EXITING HIGHWAY AND AS I WAS IN REVERSE BACKING INTO A PARKING SPOT AGAIN THE TRUCK HAD A HARD BRAKE PEDAL AND WOULD NOT STOP. I DIDNT HIT ANYTHING THANK GOT BUT IT SCARED ME PRETTY GOOD. I CARPOOLED WITH A COWORKER FOR THE REST OF THAT WEEK WHILE WE WERE OUT OF TOWN FOR WORK. I ENDED UP DRIVING THE VEHICLE HOME ABOUT 3 HRS AWAY FRIDAY EVENING AND HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE TRUCK MUCH SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED AND SINCE I HAD SEEN MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE TRUCK GOES INTO THE DEALER 11/27/18 AND HOPEFULLY THEY WILL REPLACE WHAT NEEDS REPLACING. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK 9/26/18 WITH 21,000 MILES ROUGHLY AND THE TRUCK NOW 25,773. THE TRUCK IS A CERTIFIED PRE OWN VEHICLE IF THAT MATTERS.

AT LOW SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES VERY STIFF. IT IS HARD TO STOP VEHICLE. IT HAPPENS IN FORWARD AND REVERSE.
MULTIPLE TIMES AT LOW SPEEDS, USUALLY PARKING OR IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, I LOSE ALL BRAKING POWER. IT'S TERRIFYING WHEN IT HAPPENS. I HAVE TO PUT MY FULL BODY WEIGHT (I'M A 200LB MALE) ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND I MEAN I BARELY CAN BRING IT TO A STOP. LUCKILY I HAVEN'T HIT ANYTHING IN THE TIME IT TOOK FROM THE FIRST OCCURRENCE OF THE PROBLEM UNTIL I COULD AFFORD TO GET IT FIXED. THE PROBLEM WAS FIGURED OUT TO BE A BAD VACUUM PUMP. FROM WHAT I CAN TELL ONLINE, THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH NOT MANY OWNERS REPORTING THEIR PROBLEMS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, I COULDN'T IMAGINE THAT HAPPENING AT HIGH SPEED, AS REPORTED BY OTHERS. IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE WHEN THE BRAKES DO THAT. JUST TRYING TO HELP PREVENT SERIOUS ACCIDENTS.

COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. I WAS LEAVING MY LOCAL BANK AND THE SERVICE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND IT HAD NOT RETURNED. I DID SOME ONLINE SEARCHING AND FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL BUT THE SYMPTOMS WERE LOSS AND IMMEDIATE RETURN OF POWER STEERING BUT THOUGHT MAYBE MINE WAS ALSO ASSOCIATED. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO LYNN SMITH CHEVROLET IN BURLESON TX AND WAS TOLD THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE WAS BAD AND THE ENTIRE STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHICH IS $3,000 OUT OF MY POCKET. MY TRUCK IS A 2015 WITH 53,XXX MILES IT HAD NEVER ACTED STRANGE OR GIVEN ME ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL THAT ONE INCIDENT. I WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY TO HAVE A BREAK IN TRAFFIC AS IT CAUSED ME TO OCCUPY ALL THREE LANES WITH MY 10 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE TRUCK.
MY TRUCK WAS RECALLED I RECEIVED A CALL FROM MY DEALER ABOUT THE RECALL. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO DECATUR JAMES WOODS CHEVROLET WHICH PERFORMED A RECALL ON THE EPS MODULE FOR A STEERING RECALL. NOTE PRIOR TO ME TAKING MY VEHICLE IN I HAD NO PROBLEMS OR ISSUES. I TAKE MY TRUCK IN FOR DOCUMENTED OIL CHANGES AND SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. ONCE THEY DID THE RECALL FLASH UPDATE REPROGRAMMING I PICKED UP MY TRUCK AND ON THE WAY HOME THE DASH LIGHTS BLINKED OFF THE STABILITRAC ERROR AND TOW HAUL ERROR BOTH CAME UP. I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPT IMMEDIATELY ON THE WAY USING HANDS FREE SYSTEM AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THE RECALL COULDN'T CAUSE THAT. ON THE ROAD TO MY HOUSE THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED OUT OF MY HANDS LIGHT SPRAIN TO MY WRIST AND ALMOST TOOK ME OFF THE ROAD AS THE BRAKES ALSO FAILED TO WORK VERY WELL. THE TRUCK DIED TO A STOP. WHEN I RESTARTED IT SHOWED NO ERRORS AND ALL WORKED AGAIN. THE NEXT MORNING WHEN STARTED IT DISPLAYED A CALIBRATION ERROR AND HAD ME OPEN AND CLOSE MY DRIVER WINDOW. WHEN DRIVING TO MY DEALERSHIP JERRY'S CHEVY IT BLINKED THE DASH AGAIN WHEN I USED MY BLINKER TO CHANGE LANES. THE POWER AND RPM WHERE ALL OVER THE PLACE AND RUNNING VERY ROUGH. WHEN I GOT TO JERRY'S THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T TOUCH IT AND TAKE THE LIABILITY AND TO TAKE IT BACK TO DECATUR THEY HAD MESSED SOMETHING UP. NEXT MORNING TO TO LOCAL MECHANIC WE HAVE USED THEY PUT COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC ON IT AND SHOWED ALL KINDS OF ERRORS AS WE TEST DROVE WHILE HOOKED UP. HE SAID THE RECALL PROGRAM HAS EVIDENTLY CAUSED COMMUNICATION ISSUES TO OTHER MODULES AND CAN TEAR UP THE TRUCK. I TOOK IT BACK TO DECATUR THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T GET TO IT AND TO COME BACK THE NEXT DAY. I DROPPED IT OFF TRUCK STILL HAVING ISSUES AND RUNNING AND SOUNDING WORSE AND LOSING POWER AND VOLTAGE GAUGE DROPPING AND GOING BACK TO NORMAL. SAFETY CONCERN FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS ON ROAD DUE TO THIS RECALL FLASH.

WHEN I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO THE DEALER FOR ROUTINE OIL CHANGE I HAD THEM LOOK AT THE BRAKING PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD MY BRAKE VACUUM PUMP IS GOING BAD. I SAW AN ARTICLE ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE BEING UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR POSSIBLE RECALL AND WANTED TO MAKE SURE MY VOICE WAS HEARD.

I WAS TRAVELING UNDER 5MPH JUST COASTING WITH MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND WHEN I HIT THE BRAKE NOTHING WAS HAPPENING WHICH I HAD TO PUT A LOT OF FORCE TO JUST BARELY STOP MY TRUCK IN TIME. THE DEALERSHIP I VISITED TOLD ME THE VACUUM PUMP FOR THE BRAKES WAS GOING OUT AND REPLACED IT SINCE I HAVE A 4 MONTH OLD BABY AND NEED A RELIABLE CAR. MY TRUCK ONLY HAD AROUND 50K MILES ON IT AND ALL THE CHEVY CARS MY FAMILY HAS OWNED HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH BRAKE BOOSTERS OR VACUUM PUMPS. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON ENOUGH PROBLEM THAT CHEVY HAS A BULLETIN FOR HARD BRAKE PEDALS DURING LOW SPEED. RUNNING A SEARCH ONLINE FOR THIS ISSUE COMES BACK WITH MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND QUITE A FEW HAVING REPEATED REPAIRS WITH THE PROBLEM ONLY RECURRING. THE BRAKES ARE NOT JUST HARD BUT PRETTY MUCH NON FUNCTIONAL WHEN THIS ISSUE OCCURS AND REALLY IS PRETTY SCARY WHEN I AM DRIVING AROUND MY BABY THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN WITH NO WARNING. FOR SUCH A KEY COMPONENT OF VEHICLE SAFETY, THIS ISSUE REALLY NEEDS A CLOSE LOOK AND A RECALL TO REMEDY THIS KNOWN DEFECT. THERE IS NO REASON THIS COMPONENT SHOULD GO OUT IN A 3 YEAR OLD TRUCK.
WHEN REVERSING THE BREAKS WERE VERY STIFF AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP LIKE IT SHOULD AND ALMOST RAN INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING INTO TOWN FROM A WEEKEND TRIP, WHEN TRYING TO STOP FOR A RED LIGHT FROM THE HIGHWAY, THE BRAKE PEDAL IMMEDIATELY BECAME STIFF AND WOULDN'T SLOW THE VEHICLE. IT REQUIRED BOTH FEET PRESSING DOWN HARD ON THE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE IN TIME. AFTER TURNING OFF THE TRUCK AND RESTARTING IT, THE BRAKE PEDAL RELEASED ITS PRESSURE AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY. HOWEVER, WHEN COMING TO A STOP TO BACK INTO MY GARAGE, THE BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN, WAS UNDER PRESSURE, AND WOULD NOT STOP MY VEHICLE UNLESS EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS APPLIED. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE, JUST FEET FROM THE WALL IN THE ALLEY. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. LUCKILY, I DIDN'T HAVE ANY ISSUES WHILE GOING 75 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, OR I PROBABLY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO WRITE THIS. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY THE VACUUM PUMP WAS THE CAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. AFTER HAVING TO SHELL OUT MORE THAN $700 ON A PART FOR A TRUCK THAT'S A 2015 WITH 63,000 MILES WITH NO OTHER ISSUES, IS RIDICULOUS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, AND IT SHOULD BE COVERED BY CHEVROLET. THIS ISN'T A PART THAT SHOULD FAIL ON THE VEHICLE.
