The rear driver side seatbelt will not pull out, when I went to the garage to have it looked at to see what the problem was they told me it was the seatbelt retractor. I have not fixed this yet because it is expensive to fix.
I was t-boned by a f-150, airbags didn’t deploy and my seat belt didn’t lock. With no safety features deploying, I sustained injuries. No one wants to inspect it, due to there being no fatalities or permanent dismemberment. There were no warnings or lights on prior to the accident, the seatbelts still latch and are able to be buckled which they shouldn’t be.
My 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST was purchased brand new in 2019 and has less than 50k miles on it. The rear, passenger seat belt fails to retract which is a safety issue and where my child sits. Chevrolet stated that it was not covered under any manufacturer warranty or the purchased extended warranty from the dealership. This is a huge safety concern as the seat belt will not function without being able to retract. For it to fail with less than 50k miles and being less than 5 years old is unacceptable and so concerning. The estimated cost of repair is $806.51 which is crazy that they will not fix this issue as there is a new warranty for trucks built in 2021 and newer for safety belts specifically. Chevrolet should stand by their safety equipment, especially on their newer vehicles. I have uploaded a copy of the dealership information and recommended repair as well as cost of repair that they stated would not be covered.
On January 28, 2023, my Chevrolet Silverado was involved in a significant multi-impact collision. At the time of the accident, I was a front-seat passenger and my vehicle was fully stopped when it was struck from behind at high speed by a Dodge 2500. The force of the rear impact pushed my truck into the vehicle in front of us, resulting in a secondary front-end collision. This sequence occurred twice. During the collision, the front passenger-side airbag did not deploy, and the front passenger seatbelt failed to lock. As a result, I was thrown violently within the passenger side of the vehicle and struck my head on the dashboard. In contrast, the driver’s seatbelt locked properly, as did the rear seatbelt where my child was seated. Due to the failure of the passenger-side seatbelt to lock, I sustained a severe concussion, a black eye, and other injuries. The vehicle was subsequently inspected by my insurance company. When sheriff’s deputies and state police arrived at the scene, they expressed concern and surprise that the passenger seatbelt did not lock and that no airbags deployed despite the severity of the collision. Shortly after the accident, I contacted GMC regarding these safety concerns. GMC retrieved the vehicle’s Crash Data Recorder (CDR) and conducted an investigation. I was later informed that GMC found no defects or issues with their products. Nearly three years have passed since the accident, and I remain deeply concerned and dissatisfied with GMC’s conclusion. The passenger-side seatbelt did not function as designed, while the driver and rear seatbelts did, and no airbags deployed. I do not believe adequate accountability or explanation was provided regarding the apparent failure of the passenger-side restraint system. Given the force of the impact, I could have been ejected through the windshield.
I was involved in an accident on one 2623. My vehicle was struck. However, my airbags did not deploy. Also, the diagnosis code did not show in remains faulty
We bought this cause we have two car seats and both sides of seats the part you buckle into will not stay buckled we cannot use it for family at this time went to dealership paid 240.00 to get two but it could be two months as their are many of these malfunctioningcalled around to parts places no one can get them we have one othe car but is to small for familywe was out of town when it came unbuckled and we stoped and car seat went forward no injury thank god
The seatbelts and airbags did not engage when vehicle was involved in serious accident. Seatbelts we’re on but did not lock up and airbags never deployed. Vehicle is in a body shop in Mexico. Serious spinal and hip injury made worse due to these components mail functioning. Vehicle is still in Mexico while insurance company drags their feet so they don’t have to pay. Vehicle has only been towed and not examined while it just sits there waiting for insurance company to do something. There was a police report made and I’m unaware if insurance folks have looked at vehicle as They won’t talk to us. There were no warning systems prior to incident. Why would a person even think their seatbelts and airbags weren’t going to work??
Stabilitrak was set off due to air bag module going bad. When braking it locked up 3 of the 4 tires ABS went nuts but didn’t stop it from locking up
My son was in the backseat by himself behind the driver seat. Got tangled in the seat belt and it kept ratcheting. It would not release and started to suffocate him around his lungs. We ended up cutting the seat belt to get him out. The seat belt would not release after the vehicle was stopped and turned off.
