There are 50 owner-reported electrical system complaints for the 2019 Chevrolet Silveradoin NHTSA's database. These are unverified consumer reports and may not reflect confirmed defects.
My 2019 truck with 50k miles on it, broke down and nearly caused an accident. The safety recall for the wiring harness chafing was not assigned to my VIN. I had vehicle towed to find out my loss of power and 17 error codes were due to the wires rubbing due to improperly installed by the dealer per this NHTSA. I called the 1800 number for Chevy and they told me my VIN wasn’t “Picked” to be part of this recall. I asked why, my vehicle did exactly what recall said. They said sorry we can’t do anything. I could have died the way the truck acted. I need a complaint filed and assistance having the dealer add my VIN to this recall. Any assistance will be appreciated.
Vehicle power steering went out while driving as I almost crashed through the corner. My anti-skid light came on on the dash along with a message saying service power steering drive with care and a message saying service ESC. Upon further investigation, it appears the ground strap connecting the frame to the passenger side wheel well is corroded camming electrical problems with the power steering, etc. Apparently my Vin number does not qualify for replacement on my 2019 truck even though it’s still in their warranty Chevy should replace these straps for free. The dealer wants to charge $300 for a diagnostic fee in around $300 for another repair. However mine is under warranty, but I feel like I should not have to pay a diagnostic fee. It should be covered as a recall. I have attached pictures of the codes from the dealership computer.
Oil cooler lines are leaking oil. A known GM issue with many owner complaints online. Transmission issues. Motor issues. electrical issues. brake issues. These particular trucks have many issues and nobody is taking responsibility for the issues.
I’d like to report a serious, ongoing safety concern with my 2019 Chevrolet Silverado (5.3 V8 53,028 mi) since Dec 2025. Over the last 4 months, I have experienced at least 20 engine failures/loss of power, with no engine light illuminated after restarting truck. These failures result in a complete loss of power, including steering and braking, posing a significant risk of a crash. Chevy said it would be hard to diagnose with no engine warning light on. Feb 24th, engine failure, warning light stayed on and towed truck to Chevy. Truck on standby, repaired Mar 10th, replacing 2 oxygen sensors per Diagnostics. Picked it up on March 11th, but engine shutdown again the same day and 4 additional failures while driving in my neighborhood, making the truck undrivable. I reached out to Chevy service supervisor, Juliana, but have received no response for the last 10 days. I urge NHTSA to investigate this defect as it poses a severe safety risk. Thank you for your urgent attention.
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that upon arriving to the DMV parking lot to register the vehicle, the contact compared the VIN the dealer had initially provided prior to the purchase, to the VIN listed on the title and on the vehicle. The contact discovered that there was a VIN discrepancy. The contact contacted an independent mechanic retrieved a Carfax Report of the VIN listed on the title and informed the contact that the actual vehicle mileage was 182,041. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of the purchase, the vehicle mileage was 72,409; however, the Carfax Report confirmed that the actual mileage was 182,041. The seller was contacted but failed to respond and had ended communications with the contact.
My Chevrolet Silverado has unresolved Electronic Stability Control (ESC) issues after recall reprogramming was performed twice under my VIN. The vehicle is shaking, hesitating, experiencing reduced acceleration, and feels like it may stall while driving. The truck is unsafe to operate. Dealer diagnosis is scheduled. GM Customer Care advised me to take it to the dealership before escalation. This is a loss-of-propulsion safety concern combined with unresolved ESC recall repairs. Vehicle has approximately 130,000 miles. Symptoms include shaking, hesitation, near-stall, and power loss while driving. ESC recall previously performed and still not resolved. Vehicle is drivable but unsafe. Blinking Engine light code cylinder 1 misfire. All ESC lights on parking brake, traction control.
Rear window defrosted heated up so hi my window exploded
Transmission/ignition. Can not lock vehicle and battery will die. When turning the ignition to off, dash message 'shift to park' appears. Must turn ignition on and off repeatedly to get it to go out. Dealership tried tightening a plug but it did not work.
Unknown, ESC , traction control, service brake. The truck stop and those 2 codes shows and is on but doesn’t it move
My 2019 Chevrolet Silverado has experienced repeated engine issues, including a confirmed timing chain failure. The vehicle has been taken in for repairs approximately 6–7 times for the same or related engine problems. Most concerning, the vehicle has stalled while driving, creating a serious safety hazard. Loss of power while in motion puts me and others at risk of an accident. Despite multiple repair attempts, the issue has not been permanently resolved. The timing chain failure is a major engine defect and not expected for a vehicle of this age and mileage. I am filing this complaint due to the safety risk associated with engine stalling and failure.
I own a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 35 MPH entering the flow of traffic, the vehicle lost power with the engine misfiring. The messages "Service Parking Brake" and "Service ESC" were displayed. The check engine warning light was also illuminated. I drove to the nearest dealership the vehicle was diagnosed that cylinder #5 lifters had collapsed. The dealer informed me that the cylinder lifters needed to be replaced. Additionally, the camshaft would be replaced as necessary. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer will be notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000. and I was informed that my service contract had expired less than 2 months ago
As I was driving the vehicle it seems to be hesitating or jerking and when I tried to start it,it would say put your foot on the brakes to start, but my foot was on the pedal and it was slow starting.Days later the engine light came on,took it to the dealership and they told me it was a problem with the brake system.I bought the vehicle brand new, only 41,000 miles,on it now, warranty went out in June of this year.I very rarely drives it and now they saying its a 4,000 job to get it fixed.
The back windshield on my Silverado leaks water every time it rains causing the back window to smell of smoke like electrical burning. It also creates a visibility issue out the back window when I've called three different dealerships in the area and each one of them say it is a known issue with this vehicle and it's going to cost almost $3,000 to fix. I have contacted GMC only for them to say that I needed to contact this department I feel like this is a safety issue that GMC should have to help their customers with not just be like oh well your truck may or may not be on fire while it rains
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while in reverse(R), the back over prevention camera displayed a blue screen with the message “Camera Service Required” displayed. The failure was intermittent at first but became a permanent failure. The sensor for the hood latch displayed the message that the hood was not closed, even though the hood was securely closed. The contact stated that the remote starter failed due to the hood latch sensor failure. The contact was unsure if the two failures were related. The dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the failures were not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,000.
Shift to Park light comes on during shut off.
When attempting to park the truck and shut the engine off, a message appears on the dash stating that I should "shift to park". I have already made the shift to park but the system will not allow the electrical system to shut down. A loud beeping begins, door locks remain open and inoperable, the vehicle is then unsecurable and the ignition remains open/on which in time will run the battery down. Disconnection from the battery will stop the drain on the battery for this particular event but will not cure the problem nor erase data that has sometime worked on complex computer controlled devices. I refuse to allow my wife to take the vehicle to park at any location for fear of her safety to secure or lock the vehicle and, in the event she would have to vacate the vehicle it would increase the possibility of theft of the truck. GM has recalled other makes of their products for the same problems which I understand was also reported to NHTSA and has also suffered litigation in the form of class action suits which was won by consumers in the states of Tennessee and Ohio. After consulting the dealership with the complaint, I was instructed that GM has not issued a recall for these trucks which experience the same problem as those they were required to recall and repair. The costs for such repair by the consumer is unreasonable and unwarranted by reasons that this is a manufacturing AND certainly a SAFETY problem for the consumer. Their disregard for safety and quality control has been demonstrated continually as research in this matter and other complaints of GM problems are and continue to be numerous. This vehicle is IS out of the normal warranty range. However, just as the problem with the brakes that suddenly failed just after the warranty expired on this vehicle which was also a major safety problem, extensive testing of GM safety performance is not a priority but rather they ship it out the door to consumers and just see what happens. Thanks you for your time. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
While Driving without a Trailer attached to the truck or anything plugged into the Trailer plugs on the truck, the "Service Trailer Brake System" continuosly flashes up on the Dash and chimes even after mutiple "Dismiss" attempts it still comes back.
The vehicle began knocking on the freeway and experienced a loss of power. It caused warning lights for the Electronic Traction Control and parking break system to light up.
Truck goes into limp mode several times… fuses pop when it does..it does it when I drive or hit any slight bump
Key keeps getting stuck when I put it in park and turn off truck! It’s off and on park but it won’t release the key! This happens every day!
