FLUID LEAK FROM TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINES DUE TO CORROSION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH HE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THEN INTO A LIGHT POLE WHICH DESTROYED THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, DURING THE CRASH NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WERE INJURED. NO ONE WAS INJURED IN THE OTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALERSHIP WHO STATED THAT NO FAILURES COULD BE FOUND. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 95,272 UPDATED 03/30/10. *LJ ACCORDING TO GM, THE NOTICE ON THE DASH READOUT STATED THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. UPDATED 06/30/10.*JB
MY WIFE'S 2004 TRAILBLAZER EXT SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON IN LATE SEPTEMBER 2009. SHE HAD BEEN COMPLAINING OF A GASOLINE SMELL AFTER FILLING THE VEHICLE. I HAD THE OBDII CODE READ AND IT WAS CODE 0440 EVAPORATIVE FUEL SYSTEM - SMALL LEAK. I WAS TOLD TO REPLACE THE GAS CAP, AND IT DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. I THEN FOUND OUT THAT THE 2002-2004 TRAILBLAZER EXT HAD A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE GAS TANK FILLER NECKS DEVELOPING CRACKS AND CAUSING THE SES LIGHT TO COME ON AND GAS TO LEAK WHEN THE TANK IS FILLED OR NEAR FULL. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET, WHO STATED THAT OUT TRAILBLAZER IS NOT IN THE VIN RANGE OF TRAILBLAZER EXT'S THAT WERE COVERED BY A SPECIAL NOTICE THAT ALLOWED THE TANKS TO BE REPLACED UNDER A SPECIAL EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE REPLACEMENT COST IS $900+. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH 2004 TRAILBLAZER EXT, OUTSIDE OF THE NARROW VIN RANGE THAT CHEVROLET WILL ADMIT TO. ALL 2004 EXT'S SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. OUR VEHICLE JUST TURNED 60,000 MILES. *TR
I HAD TWO BLOWOUTS ON THE FRONT TIRE (DRIVERS SIDE) AND BACK TIRE (DRIVERS SIDE). ON SEPT. 26, 2009. I RAN INTO THE CURB AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE; BUT SINCE I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 40 MPH I WAS ABLE TO KEEP FROM CRASHING OR ROLLING OVER. ON THE 7TH OF SEPT MY TIRE WENT FLAT AND I TOOK IT TO SEARS AND THEY ADVISED IT WAS THE VALVE STEM THAT CAUSED THE FLAT. THEY REPLACED THE VALVE STEM PER MY ROAD HAZARD AGREEMENT. BACK IN MARCH OF 2009 I HAD A FLAT WHILE ON VACATION IN FORT WORTH AND TOOK IT TO DISCOUNT TIRES, AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS THE VALVE STEM AND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE STEM. UPON RETURNING HOME I TOOK MY CAR TO SEARS AND INFORMED THEM OF THE INCIDENT AND THEY ADVISED THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF A RECALL, CHECKED THE VALVE STEMS AND SAID THEY DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG. WHEN THE BLOWOUTS OCCURRED, WE TOOK THE TIRES BACK TO SEARS AND HAD TO PAY FOR REPLACEMENT TIRES (WITH THE ROADHAZARD FEE IT WAS APPRX $230) BECAUSE SEARS STILL SAYS THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED INFORMATION ON A RECALL NOTICE FOR BRIDGESTONE TIRE VALVE STEMS. I FOUND THE INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET AND ALSO WAS MADE AWARE IN MARCH BY THE DISCOUNT TIRE STORE IN FORT WORTH. I STILL HAVE 2 TIRES FROM SEARS REMAINING ON THE VEHICLE AND THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THEM DUE TO RECALL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. SHE SMELLED A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE IN HER VEHICLE. A TECHNICIAN FROM THE DEALER CONCLUDED THAT THE FUEL TANK DEVELOPED A FATIGUE CRACK AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,211. THE SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING OR WILL ACCELERATES WITH YOU PUTTING YOUR FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL YOU HAVE TURN OFF THE CAR AND KEEP STARTING AND TURNING OFF THE CAR TO GET BACK TO 0MPH. *TR
WHY HAS CHEVY NOT INCLUDED THE 2004 TRAILBLAZER ON THEIR RECALL LIST WHEN THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE AROUND THE COUNTRY ARE POSTING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR INSTRUMENT CLUSTERS? MY ENTIRE PANEL GOES IN AND OUT BUT MOSTLY OUT. I NEVER KNOW IF I NEED GAS OR HOW FAST I AM GOING. SOME OF THE TIME EVERY LIGHT THAT IS BUILT IN THE DASH IS ON AT THE SAME TIME. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT IS OCCURRING IN MANY OF CHEVY'S OTHER VEHICLES YET THEY WILL NOT ADD THE TRAILBLAZER TO THE RECALL LIST. SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING ON MY 2004 CHEVY TRAIL BLAZER DEALER SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY THE CAR HAD 48000 MILES ON IT WHEN IT STOPPED WORKING. *TR
IN SEPTEMBER 2009, MY 2004 TRAILBLAZER STARTED GOING HAYWIRE! IT LOST ALL POWER (WHILE GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE), THE POWER/CIGARETTE OUTLETS STOPPED WORKING, THE DOORS STARTED LOCKING THEMSELVES (SOMETIMES WITH THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION) , THE RADIO WOULD GO LOUD OR STOP WORKING, MY SPEEDOMETER WENT NUTS (LIKE SAYING THAT I WAS DOING 65MPH, WHEN I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP OR 120MPH DOWN THE HWY), THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT WOULD GO ON AND OFF,AND MY HEATER WILL NOT BLOW OUT THE VENTS IN THE DASH. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO A MECHANIC. HE TRIED EVERYTHING FROM REPLACING THE BATTERY, FUEL FILTER, AND SPARK PLUGS. HE EVEN HOOKED IT UP TO HIS SCANNER (WHICH SHOWED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR) ALL THIS AND $700.00 LATER I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS. NOW I'M TOLD THAT THE ELECTRICAL PANEL WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST AROUND $500-$900!! IF YOU LOOK AT CARCOMPLAINTS.COM YOU SEE THAT THERE ARE MANY MORE PEOPLE LIKE ME WITH THE SAME CAR AND THE SAME PROBLEMS. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE.HOW LONG WILL IT BE BEFORE SOMEONE PUSHES CHEVY INTO DOING A RECALL? DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO BE KILLED OR KILL SOMEONE ELSE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN? I WAS SO GLAD TO GOOGLE CAR COMPLAINTS AND FIND THAT IT WASN'T JUST ME THAT WAS HAVING SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRAILBLAZER. *TR
SPEEDOMETER WILL INTERMITTENTLY SHOW SPEED MUCH FASTER THAN ACTUAL SPEED. FOR EXAMPLE, SHOWING 120+ MPH WHEN ONLY GOING 40MPH. *TR
2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER LT.. MY GAUGES FOR OIL, SPEEDOMETER, WATER ARE NOT WORKING AT TIMES. THE SPEEDOMETER WILL SAY I AM DOING 90 WHEN IN FACT I AM ONLY GOING 35 MPH IF THAT! I DON'T USE THE HIGHWAY MUCH, MORE CITY DRIVING AND I SEE THAT MY TRAILBLAZER IS NOT THE ONLY ONE WILL THIS PROBLEM. I REALLY FEEL THAT A RECALL NEEDS TO BE DONE BY GM ON THIS PROBLEM. OTHER TRAILBLAZER OWNERS HAVE BEEN REPORTING THIS PROBLEM SINCE 2006. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY GM DEALERSHIP THAT IT WILL BE ABOUT $600 TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILS TO OPERATE PROPERLY. THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING FIRST, THEN BATTERY,GAS, AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES FAILED TO WORK PROPERLY. FINALLY, THERE IS NO ODOMETER READING OR GEAR INDICATOR SHOWING ON CLUSTER. *KB

THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON INTERNET SITES AND NO ACTION BY ANY ONE TO RESOLVE THIS SAFETY ISSUE... *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. SHE STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL FAILED, THEN IMMEDIATELY TURNED BACK ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. A TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE, THEY COULD NOT MAKE ANY REPAIRS. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, MY SPEEDOMETER FAILED AND STARTED REPORTING THE SPEED WELL ABOVE THE SPEED I WAS GOING. MY SPEEDOMETER NOW GETS STUCK BETWEEN 70-120MPH EVEN WHEN PARKED. THIS PRESENTS A SAFETY ISSUE AS I HAVE NO IDEA OF THE SPEED AT WHICH I AM TRAVELING. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE EXAMINING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS HAD BEGUN TO CRACK ON THE EXTERIOR SHELL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED AND OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER DOESEN'TWORK DUE TO THE STEPPER MOTORS IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GM KNOWS OF THE COMPLAINTS ON THEIR OTHER VEHICLES OF THE SAME YEARS AND HAVE REPAIRED THEM. THE SPEEDOMETER STARTS OUT WORKING BUT FAILS AFTER A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD. I'VE READ E-MAILS FROM PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET WHO HAVE GOTTEN SPEEDING TICKETS FROM THIS PROBLEM. *TR
INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES FLUCTUATE, SHOWING INACCURATE READINGS. SPEEDOMETER STICKS ON ONE SPEED AND ALSO JUST FAILS CONSISTENTLY. *TR
DUE TO CORROSION OF THE SPARE TIRE COMPONENT THE SPARE TIRE WILL NOT RELEASE FROM THE CAR, THE PROBLEM IS NOT EASILY FIXED IT IS A PROBLEM AND A SAFTY ISSUE. WITH OUT A SPARE TIRE A PERSON CAN POSSIBLE BE STRANDED WITH NO HELP AND POSSIBLY HARMED OR IN WORSE EVENTS ENVOLED IN A CRASH IF IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREA. THE MAIN USE OF A SPARE IS TO GET THE CAR BACK ON THE ROAD IN A TIMELY MANNER AND WITH THIS PERSISTANT PROBLEM WITH THE SPARE TIRE COMPONENT RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH IS INCREASED GREATLY. *TR
MY 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER 4X4 V6 IS EXPERIENCING SOME INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER PROBLEMS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME AS I HAD THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER ENTIRELY REPLACED ONCE ALREADY. THE FIST TIME, THE TACHOMETER STOPPED WORKING AND THE SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTIONED SHOWING INCORRECT SPEEDS AT DIFFERENT TIMES, INCLUDING SHOWING 80MPH WHEN SITTING STILL IN THE DRIVEWAY. NOW THE INSTRUMENT PANEL HAS MALFUNCTIONED AGAIN. NOW MY BATTERY GAUGE, FUEL GAUGE, OIL PRESSURE GAUGE, AND TEMP GAUGE STOPPED WORKING AND AND ARE AT ZERO AS IF THE CAR IS OFF. MOST OF MY WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON ALSO. THE ABS, SEATBELT, BATTERY, AND PARKING BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON. ALSO, THE GEAR INDICATOR LIGHT TELLING ME IF I AM IN P,R,N,D, ETC NO LONGER HIGHLIGHTS THE GEAR I AM IN AND THE CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT DOESN'T COME ON WHEN I ENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL. HOWEVER, I WOULD SAY ONCE OUT OF EVERY 15-20 TIMES I DRIVE THE CAR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND GAUGES WORK FLAWLESSLY. OBVIOUSLY THIS TIME IT IS NOT THE MOTORS OF THE GAUGES THAT ARE THE PROBLEM, BUT SOMETHING POWER AND/OR ELECTRICAL. I'M WORRIED ABOUT KNOWING HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE LEFT AND, MORE IMPORTANTLY, WHAT MY SPEED IS, WHETHER THE ENGINE TEMP IS OK, AND WHETHER THE OIL PRESSURE IS NORMAL. *TT
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL THE COMPONENTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BEGAN TO FAIL ONE BY ONE UNTIL NOTHING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FUNCTIONED AT ALL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000. UPDATED 11/03/10. *LJ
DRIVER'S SEAT BELT WILL NOT RELEASE. BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN 2004 AND HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING OFF THE CAR LOT. HAS SINCE BEEN REPLACED JUST ONCE, BUT PROBLEM CONTINUED. UP UNTIL 2 MONTHS AGO, SEATBELT WOULD RELEASE SHORTLY, BUT NOW IT HAS BEEN STUCK FOR 3 WEEKS. TRYING TO GET GM TO REPLACE, BUT THEY HAVE JUST NOW AGREED TO PAY 50%. PREVIOUSLY WHEN IT WAS REPLACED IT WAS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE OF THEIRS AND I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO DRIVE IT AT ALL. THIS TIME, SINCE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY HAVE NOT MADE AN ATTEMPT TO PUT ME IN ANOTHER VEHICLE OR OFFER TO FIX IT. IT TOOK ALMOST 6 WEEKS FOR THEM TO SAY THEY WOULD PAY 50%. SEEMS VERY CARELESS OF GM CONSIDERING I AM OUT OF THE HABIT OF EVEN REACHING FOR MY SEATBELT B/C IT NEVER WORKS. I HAVE AN APPT. WITH THE CHEVY DEALER WEDNESDAY AND AM GOING TO TRY TO CONTINUE TO PRESS TO GM THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS BUILT AND THEY NEED TO REALIZE WHAT A PRIORITY THIS IS, AND BE THANKFUL THAT I HAVE YET TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. *TR
HAD P0128 CODE FOR ABOUT 1 YEAR. REPLACED THERMOSTAT AFTER P1680 CODE, REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON. REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT WENT AWAY ON NEXT CRANK UP TO MOVE VEHICLE AND CHANGE THERMOSTAT. ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS BOTH ON INTERMITTENTLY. TACHOMETER HAS BEEN STICKING AND SPEEDOMETER SHOWED ERRATIC SIGNS AROUND 55 MPH. NOW ALL GAUGES GOING WACKO OR NOT WORKING AT ALL AT TIMES. TEMPERATURE GAUGE WRAPPED COMPLETELY AROUND WITHOUT EVEN STARTING COLD ENGINE. ABOUT A MILE LATER, INSTRUMENT PANEL LIT COMPLETELY UP THEN WENT AWAY, GAUGES RESET, AND RAN FINE WITH PROPERLY OPERATING INSTRUMENT PANEL... AT LEAST UNTIL I GOT HOME. THEN WACKO STUFF AGAIN. RESET PCM BY DISCONNECTING BATTERY CABLE, NOW THINGS SEEM FINE... FOR NOW. I'M TOLD TO REDO BAD GROUND ON ECBM BEFORE SUSPECTING BAD ABS MODULE AND TO REPLACE IGNITION SWITCH BEFORE SUSPECTING BAD INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND PCM. HOWEVER, DEALER ANALYSIS SAID ABS MODULE GOT MOISTURE IN IT AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL NEEDS TO BE REPLACE. FIRST IS A $1000 ABS MODULE, SECOND IS A $400 PANEL, BOTH HAVE LABOR CHARGES ADDITIONAL. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN GIVING ME PROBLEMS FOR SOME TIME. AT FIRST IT WOULD MALFUNCTION FROM TIME TO TIME AT APPROXIMATELY 89,000. NOW THE SPEEDOMETER HAS STOPPED ALL TOGETHER. WHEN I STARTED INVESTIGATING THIS PROBLEM I FOUND OUT THAT CHEVROLET HAS ANOTHER VEHICLE, "CHEVY TAHOE", THAT HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. WHY THERE IS A RECALL TO FIX THE TAHOE AND NOT THE TRAILBLAZERS? DEFINITE "DEFECT TREND" THAT SHOULD RESULT IN A RECALL. I DON'T HAVE THE $600+ TO FIX SO MUST CONTINUE TO DRIVE WITH MY YOUNG CHILDREN IN IT. A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION FOR ME AND THE OTHERS ON THE ROAD! WAITING FOR THE WHOLE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO FAIL AS OTHERS SAY HAPPENS NEXT! *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I HERD A RATTLING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE, GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND PULL INTO A STATION. CALL THE TOW COMPANY TO TOW IT TO MY MECHANIC HE SAID THE WATER PUMP BEARINGS BROKE AND THE FAN STOP TURNING SINCE BOTH ARE CONNECTED TOGETHER, HE SAID THE ENGINE MIGHT BE DAMAGE POSSIBLE DUE TO OVERHEATING. THERE WAS NO WARNING OF OVER HEATING ON THE GAGE, WATER DID NOT LEAK FROM THE PUMP. I CALL GM AND THEY TOLD ME TO TOW IT TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSE AND THEY WERE CONSIDER MY CLAIM AFTER THE DIAGNOSE CHECK; THEY KNEW MY WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED IN JULY. I TOLD THEM THERE WAS KNOW WARNING OF ANY KIND EVERYTHING WAS FIND WATER PUMP BEARINGS JUST BROKE ALONG WITH THE FAN CLUTCH THIS SAMPLE PROBLEM CAUSE THE WHOLE ENGINE TO GO BAD. IF THERE IS GOING TO BE A PROBLEM WITH BEARINGS BROKEN ON THE WATER PUMP THERE SHOULD BE A WARNING OF THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM. RIGHT KNOW I NEED HELP TO GET MY TRUCK FIX GM DENIED MY CASE TO FIX THE ENGINE. I BELIEVE GM KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THESE WATER PUMPS AND SERIOUS DAMAGE IT CAN CAUSE IF THEY FAIL. *TR
MY GAS TANK ALWAYS READS EMPTY AND THE FUEL LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. OCCASIONALLY AFTER A FILL UP, IT WILL APPEAR THAT I HAVE A SMALL AMOUNT OF GAS, BUT SOON RETURNS TO EMPTY. FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS OR MORE I HAVE HAD TO RESET MY MILEAGE TRIP GAUGE EVERY TIME I FILL UP AND WATCH THE MILEAGE SO I DON'T RUN OUT OF GAS. THIS IS EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM & CONTROL PANEL IN MY 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER LS HAS BEEN MALFUNCTIONING FOR MANY, MANY MONTHS, TO INCLUDE TOTAL DARKNESS AND CONSTANT "DINGING" OF THE ALARMS. MY LOCAL DEALER CONTINUES TO TELL ME THAT THEY "CAN NOT REPLICATE" THE PROBLEM ON THE COMPUTER; EVEN THOUGH THE TECHNICIAN HAS SEEN THE "DEAD" PANEL WITH HIS OWN EYES. HE CLAIMS HE HAS TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. OBVIOUSLY I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH A BUNCH OF IDIOTS OR LIARS. I AM CONVINCE BOTH, AFTER READING ALMOST 700 COMPLAINTS WITH YOUR AGENCY. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON OUR CHEVY 2004 TRAILBLAZER LS CAME ON. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO OUR MECHANIC WHO SAID THERE IS A SMALL CRACK IN THE FUEL TANK. I DROVE THE VEHICLE OUT OF TOWN TO A MECHANIC WE HIGHLY TRUST EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM AND WERE ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE HE BELIEVED THERE WAS A SPECIAL WARRANTY IN PLACE FOR EMISSIONS PROBLEMS. WHILE AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY CONFIRMED THERE IS A FUEL TANK INLET CHECK VALVE FRACTURE AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT #07099A. AT THE END OF THE DAY I WAS TOLD MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE COULD NOT BE COVERED BECAUSE OF THE BREAK IN THE VIN NUMBER. I THEN CONTACTED GM PERSONALLY AND TALKED TO A SPECIALIST WHO SAID SHE WOULD HAVE TO LOOK INTO IT. SHE GOT BACK TO ME AND BASICALLY SAID THERE IS NOTHING GM CAN DO BECAUSE THE WARRANTY ONLY COVERS THE EXT MODEL, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A FACTORY DEFECT AND A SAFETY HAZARD! THE SPEEDOMETER QUIT READING CORRECTLY. AT SOME TIMES IT WOULD READ 100 MPH WHEN DOING 30 MPH. IT THEN WORSENED TO THE POINT WHERE IT IS AT NOW. THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. THE TACHOMETER HAS MALFUNCTIONED THE SAME WAY AS WELL. THIS HAS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE DRIVER HAS NO WAY OF TRULY KNOWING HOW FAST THEY ARE DRIVING. I HAVE A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER LS THAT SEEMS TO HAVE A VERY STRONG GAS ODOR IN THE CABIN AND ALSO DRIPS GAS UNDERNEATH THE GAS TANK. SPEEDOMETER IS INOPERABLE. TACHOMETER WORKS OCCASSIONALLY. OIL GAUGE IS NOW STARTING TO FAIL. THERE ARE ONLY 41,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE AND IT IS NOT ONLY INCONVENIENT TO OPERATE THIS VEHICLE WITHOUT A SPEEDOMETER, IT IS UNSAFE. SPEEDOMETER WAS THE FIRST GAUGE TO GO, THEN THE TACHOMETER BEGAN TO FAULTER AND THE OIL GAUGE FOLLOWED. TACH SOMETIMES RESETS ITSELF TO ZERO AND MAY WORK FOR A WEEK BEFORE IT BEGINS TO FAIL AGAIN. THERE WAS NO SPECIFIC EVENT LEADING UP TO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE. IT JUST BEGAN ONE GAUGE AT A TIME. I HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT BY TWO SEPERATE MECHANICS AND WAS TOLD THAT INSTRUMENT FAILURE IN THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE IS VERY COMMON ALTHOUGH NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. HEADLIGHTS , REAR LIGHTS AND BRAKELIGHTS BULBS HAVE BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL DOZEN TIMES. THEY BURN UP SO NEED REPLACING. HAVE REPLACED FULL BOARDS IN REAR LIGHTS AS WELL, AFTER SEVERAL DAYS ALL GO OUT AGAIN AND WILL REPLACE AGAIN. I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IN THE PAST AND THEY HAVE SAID THAT CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS WITH SAME PROBLEM HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS BUT MINE HASN'T BEEN RECALLED YET. STRONG SMELL OF GAS HAS STARTED OVER THE PAST COUPLE MONTHS. I AM ASSUMING AS STATED IN SEVERAL OTHER REPORTS IT IS DUE TO THE FUEL LINE HAVING SOME SORT OF CRACK.
2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER HAS SIGNIFICANT ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ISSUES. THE TACHOMETER IS INCONSISTENT AND WILL READ 1000 RPM WHEN YOU KNOW THE ENGINE IS AT LEAST 3000. ALSO, SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH OTHER GAUGES. SOMETIMES THEY WORK FOR A FEW DAYS, AND THEN DON'T. ALSO, CONSTANTLY NEEDS JUMPED. JUST GOT A NEW BATTERY TWO WEEKS AGO, AND ALREADY WON'T TURN OVER. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER, WHICH CORRECTED THE ISSUE FOR A FEW MONTHS. THE CONTACT WILL TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. REPORT NUMBER 71-749316845 WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT SHE WILL NOT BE CHARGED THE TOTAL PRICE FOR THE REPAIR AT THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 29,000.
EACH TIME I START MY 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER EXT THE "CHANGE ENGINE OIL" LIGHT COMES ON. AFTER 15 SECONDS IT TURNS OFF. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, MY RPM WILL EITHER GO EXTREMELY HIGH, TRAVELING 30 AND THE RPM SAYS I'M DOING 90, OR WILL GO EXTREMELY LOW, GOING 30-SAYS I'M GOING 0. ALSO, MY GAS GAUGE STARTED ME OUT WITH JUST UNDER A HALF A TANK OF GAS, AND WHEN I GOT TO WORK 15 MILES AWAY, I AM UNDER A QUARTER A TANK OF GAS. WHEN I CALLED THE CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER, TO CHECK FOR A RECALL, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE TRAILBLAZER. THERE WAS HOWEVER A RECALL FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM ON THE CHEVROLET AVALANCHE, TAHOE AND SUBURBAN. I JUST CANT UNDERSTAND WHY CHEVROLET WILL NOT RECALL THE TRAILBLAZER FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. MY SPEEDOMETER SOMETIMES REGISTERS TO THE POINT OF SEEING NO NUMBERS ON THE NEEDLE. THE GAS GAUGE RARELY REGISTERS THAT I EVEN HAVE ANY GAS.
