THE TRUNK LIFTGATE CLOSES ON PEOPLE AND CAN CRUSH SOMEONE IF YOU AREN'T STRONG ENOUGH TO FORCE THE DOOR OPEN. IT ALSO WILL NOT STAY OPEN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V415000 (STRUCTURE) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN BACK HOME AFTER A 20 MIN JOURNEY. SWITCHED VEHICLE OFF, REMOVED KEYS, I CAME BACK TO REMOVE LAST BAG FROM VEHICLE - WHITE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM UNDER HOOD. TRIED TO PUT OUT WITH A SMALL FIRE EXTINGUISHER. FLAMES NOW COMING FROM HOOD AND OUT OF FRONT GRILLE. CALLED 911. WITHIN 20 MINS CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS, WITH DAMAGE TO ADJACENT HOME. INFORMED INSURER AND GM CUSTOMER CARE. GM CLAIMS DEPT HAVE INVESTIGATED AND NO GM FAULT DETERMINED. 18 MONTH OLD VEHICLE MUST NOT CATCH FIRE BY ITSELF, MORE ACTION REQUIRED. TL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERESE. THE CONTACT STATED THE HEAD REST IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND IF A REAR END CRASH OCCURS A SERIOUS NECK INJURY CAN BE CAUSE BY THESE HEAD REST. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER STATED THE HEAD REST A MANDATED BY THE HIGHT SAFETY TASK FORCE. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE IS VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE WITH THE MANUFACTURER HEAD REST AND NHTSA SHOULD LOOK INTO REMOVING THEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000. JO
