The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that underneath the vehicle there was a bracket that had detached. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the mechanic replaced the catalytic converter. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000.
Car began to not shift to park when attempting to park. Dealer said it was a common problem and it is a huge safety issue as if the car is not engaging in park it could be in an unsafe condition on an incline and begin to roll. There maybe other issues I'm not even aware of but I feel gm should recall this defect if it especially a known issue among many vehicles.
We have major paint chipping and peeling issues, the gear selector will not recognize park at times and we have had the catalytic converter replaced in the 2.5 years of owning (we are the only owners).
When car is put into park and I turn off the car with the push button, I get a message of “shift to park”. The car is in park but the car doesn’t think it’s in park and won’t fully shut down. Warning chimes continue. Tapping the shifter control forward to the radio seems to kick it back in and the car shuts down with no more warning chimes. Looked this up online and there are numerous people complaining about this and it happening to them. Sounds like the whole shifter assembly needs replacing. It doesn’t matter if I’m close to home or a thousand miles away, what happens when I can’t tap the shifter to get it to shut down completely? Safety and mechanical issue that has to be addressed and fixed. Thank you.
When shifting into Park the “Shift to Park” message comes on even though the vehicle is in Park. This problem started about 6 months ago and now happens almost every time we drive it. It is a safety issue because we don’t want to get stranded or not be able to lock the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that upon placing the vehicle into PARK, the shift to park warning message would appear on the instrument panel. Due to the failure, the contact had to readjust the gear shifter or restart the vehicle to correct the failure; however, those options do not correct the failure every time. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
After shifting my 2019 Chevrolet Traverse into park, an “Action Required” message appears on the dash that says, “Shift to Park”. But, the car is already in park. Due to this action required message the car will not properly shut off.The only way I am able to shut the car off is by restarting it and shifting into reverse or drive, back to park. Sometimes it takes up to six times of going through this process to get the car to shut off. This issue has been going on for over a month. I arrived at the dealership for a scheduled oil change and the car did the same as I parked in their garage. I had a tech come out to see what was going on. He told me that Chevrolet was aware that this was happening in at least 4 models, including my Traverse. He immediately knew what the fix was. It was explained to me that there was a bulletin, but not a recall for this issue. The dealership said they could fix it for $140, and because I was 7,000 out of my bumper to bumper I had no choice but to pay the amount. If Chevrolet knows this is an issue then they should be covering the cost to repair it. It is bulletin #19-NA-206. They installed a SL-N-Switch and an N-Harness. They also removed transmission range selector and removed and replaced wiring harness on the selector to a newer design, that’s supposed to stop the issue.
When placing the car in park, a "shift into park" warning appears on the dashboard even though the vehicle is actually in park. The problem appears to be a shift relay that is not making contact with the metal tab that depresses the sensor telling the computer the vehicle is in fact in park. Not thinking the car is in park can cause a driver to panic the car is going to roll into another car, fixed object or another person. This problem has been confirmed multiple times and there is currently a GM bulletin out on the problem. The fix is to replace the entire shift assembly at the owner's cost - $500. The only warning message received is '"shift into park".
Driving on freeway all of a sudden sunroof just shattered
Shift to Park alert and gear parking issue. This is a big issue with GM cars/SUVs after I searched online. Looks like a manufacturer parts’ defects in gear box.
When I put the car in PARK, turn the vehicle off, with my foot on the brake; the dashboard relentlessly signals to put the vehicle in Park. It will not stop this notice until I stop/start the car a few times or repeatedly press the gear shift lever. It happens intermittently, but at least 3-4 times a week. As a woman, the idea of going shopping and coming out to a dead car battery from this problem is always in the front in my mind and some stranger “helping” me, instead mugs me. I am terrified that it will cause an electrical fire under my carport and burn my house down with us inside. I haven’t had my Premiere long and absolutely love it and I have been a Chevy fan for years, but I have always felt Chevrolet took care of their customers. Is it going to take a terrible loss for these Traverse to be recalled?
MY6 VEHICLE IS TAKING 6 OR 7 TIMES TO SHUT OFF WHEN IN PARK. IT KEEPS SAYING "PUT VEHICLE IN PARK" AND IT ALSO SAYS ADVISORY PROBLEM. I CALLED CIOICA CHEVROLET IN PRINCETON NJ ON APRIL 5, 2021, AND THEY SAID I HAVE TO WAIT FOR AN APPOINTMENT BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL BOOKED UP AND IT WILL BE A VERY LONG WAIT, I ASK IF O COULD DROP IT OFF AND GET A LOANER CAR AND THEY SAID NO, I AM HOPING THIS DONT GET WORSE AND THEN I WILLBE VERY MAD, THEY ALSO TOLD ME THEY ABOUT 9 TRAVERSE IN WITH THE SAME PROBLE. PLEASE GET THE TO TAKE THE IN AND GIVE ME A LOANER
When shifting into park, the vehicle does not recognize the shifter has been moved to the "park" setting. An alert will sound stating the vehicle must be shifted into park position. We then have to shift out of park and back into park...sometimes multiple times, before the vehicle recognizes that the shifter is in the Park position.
THE TIRE TREAD IS COMING OFF IN CHUNKS FROM THE INSIDE TREAD OF THE TIRE. CAR WAS BOUGHT NEW FROM CHEVROLET AND THESE ARE THE ORIGINAL TIRES. TIRE IS A CONTINENTAL ECO PLUS+ DOT A3HH WC4F 0619
I TOOK MY SON TO MY WORK WHEN WE ARRIVED I TOLD MY SONS TO TAKE THEIR SEATBELTS OFF. MY SON STARTED SCREAMING IT'S TIGHTENING IT'S TIGHTENING. WITH HIM BEING IN A BOOSTER IT PINNED HIM HE TRIED TO WIGGLE OUT AND GOT EVEN MORE STUCK I TURNED THE CAR OFF TO TRIED TO REMOVE AND WAS UNSUCCESSFUL IT UNHOOKED FROM THE BUCKLE BUT HE WAS STILL STRAPPED TO THE CAR. HE STARTED BLEEDING FROM HIS NOSE AND MOUTH AND SAID HIS SHOULDER HURTS. I HAD ANOTHER CO WORKER TRY TO HELP ME OUT AND WE WERE UNABLE TO UNTIL I HAD TO CUT THE SEATBELT
WHEN TURNING OFF THE TRAVERSE, A "SHIFT TO PARK" MESSAGE IS BEING DISPLAYED DESPITE THE VEHICLE BEING IN PARK WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW THE INTERNAL ELECTRONICS (SUCH AS THE RADIO) TO TURN OFF WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE. SOMETIMES SHIFTING OUT OF AND BACK INTO PARK OR HITTING THE BUTTONS ON THE SHIFTER FIX THE PROBLEM. RESEARCH SHOWS THERE ARE AT LEAST 2 GM SERVICE BULLETINS WHICH COVER A NUMBER OF THEIR DIFFERENT VEHICLES. SERVICE IS SCHEDULED WITH THE DEALER TO FIX, BUT MILEAGE PUTS IT JUST OUT OF WARRANTY, SO WE'LL SEE HOW MUCH THEY CHARGE FOR THIS MANUFACTURING/DESIGN DEFECT.
My 2019 Chevy Traverse was purchased new in August of 2018. It has approx 34,500 miles on it as of 7/26/21. Tire size: 255/55 R 20 107H. The vehicle has been in for regular maintenance/service at the original dealership since it was purchased. Around March 2021, I noticed the outside tread on all 4 tires becoming brittle and breaking off. There are small chunks of the tread missing and some type of thread showing where the chunks have come off. I went to my local Costco and the associate in the tire department told me that I should not be driving on it because the tires could blow. I wanted a second opinion and went to my local Discount Tire. The associate told me that what was happening was called "chunking" and it was not common (actually rare to happen) and I should call Continental Tire. No alarms/warning lamps have gone off due to this issue.
"Shift to park!" Keeps coming up on my dash, and sometimes nothing works. I get this message every time I park just about.
"SHIFT TO PARK" MESSAGE APPEARS AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND TRYING TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF. VEHICLE IS CLEARLY IN PARK, BUT VEHICLE DOES NOT SEEM TO RECOGNIZE IT IS IN PARK. HAPPENS INTERMITTENLY. TO BE ABLE TO TURN OFF THE CAR, I WILL NEED TO PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND THEN BACK TO PARK. SOMETIMES IT FIXES ON THE FIRST TIME, OTHER TIMES I NEED TO DO IT MULTIPLE TIMES.
ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH TRACTION CONTROL NEEDS SERVICED. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I STARTED THE TRAVERSE AND REMAINED ON. WHEN I HAD A DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE THE CODE READ A CODE OF 300. DEALER STATED THAT CODE IS FOR CYLINDER MISFIRE NOT SURE HOW MANY. RESEARCHED AND FOUND SERVICE UPDATE N192281810 THAT READS MISFIRE DUE TO CARBON TRACKING RELEASED DATE OF MARCH 2019. IT IS THE DEALERS RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX THIS DURING THE SERVICE PORTION OF THE NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY PERIOD. MY VEHICLE IS NOW PAST THAT AND IS MISFIRING AND READING OUT THIS CODE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ON ALL VEHICLES REGARDLESS OF MILES DUE TO FAULTY COILS, COIL PACK OR SPARK PLUGS. IN THE ABOVE MENTIONED SERVICE UPDATE IT STATES THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH SEVERAL VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BY GM. ATS, CTS, CAMARO AND TRAVERSE. WHEN DOING FURTHER RESEARCH THERE IS NOT A WAY TO FIND OUT IF DEALER DID THE SERVICE WHEN GM SENT OUT THE SERVICE UPDATE. I LOOKED BACK AT ALL MY RECORDS FOR SERVICES THAT THE DEALER DONE SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND SEE NO INDICATION THAT THIS SERVICE WAS PERFORMED.
MY VEHICLE IS AT 30,738 MILES AND RECENTLY I BEGAN SMELLING WHAT I THOUGHT TO BE EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. I ALSO SMELLED IT AFTER THE CAR WAS PARKED OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE, NEAR THE THE HOOD OF THE CAR NEAR THE ENGINE. I TOOK IT TO THE NEAREST REPAIR SHOP AND THEY SAID THAT THE BRAZING/WELDING POINT ON THE FUEL RAIL WAS FAULTY AND THE FUEL INJECTOR HAD BROKEN OFF AND WAS SPRAYING FUEL ALL UNDERNEATH THE CAR. IT WAS "TWO OR THREE TURNS AWAY FROM A CATASTROPHIC EVENT". THE CAR WAS HAD FUEL SPRAYED ALL NEAR THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND WAS GETTING DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME (MINUTES/HOURS) BEFORE THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE OR EXPLODED WITH THE AMOUNT OF LOOSE FUEL PRESENT AND I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN IN CAR SEATS I WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR IN TIME. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE FUEL RAIL AND SEVERAL OTHER PARTS. AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ME. THERE WERE STILL FUEL VAPORS COMING INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE AND NEAR THE HOOD OF THE ENGINE. I TOOK IT BACK AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID ALL OF THE INSULATION AROUND/ IN THE ENGINE WAS SATURATED IN FUEL STILL. SO THEY WASHED THE INSULATION AND PUT IT BACK IN THE VEHICLE. IT STILL SMELLS LIKE FUEL VAPORS IN AND AROUND THE VEHICLE.
2019 TRAVERSE WAS TRAVELING DOWN ROAD ABOUT ONE MILE FROM STARTING LOCATION CAR SHUT OFF AND ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON THAN NOTICED SMOKE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT., FLAMES SHORTY AFTER. FD WAS CALLED AND ARRIVED AND PUT OUT FIRE. A FLUID TRAIL WAS NOTICED BEHIND CAR LEADING TO OUR HOUSE (1 MILE AWAY). NO ISSUES WITH THE CAR UP TO THIS POINT. CAR WAS TOWED AND INSURANCE CALLED, NOTIFIED GM THE NEXT DAY AFTER SEEING A RECALL ON LEAKING TRANSMISSION (THIS VIN IS NOT ON THAT LIST). GM BASICALLY SAID THAT ONCE WE CALLED THE INSURANCE COMPANY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR US. INSURANCE COMPANY (ALLSTATE) SAID THEY WILL LOOK INTO THIS. CAR WAS A LEASE AND WE HAVE NO RECOURSE. IT SEEMS FISHY TO ME THAT SOME MODELS HAVE A RECALL AND THIS APPEARS TO BE SOME KIND KIND OF LEAK FROM THAT AREA. IF GM DOESN'T CARE HOW WILL THEY KNOW IF THIS RECALL NEEDS TO INVOLVE OTHER MODELS AND VIN'S OF THIS CAR. I UNDERSTAND THAT WE LEASED THE CAR SO WE LOSE AND CAN'T RECOUP ANYTHING NOR WILL THEY WORK WITH US TO LOWER THE COST OF A REPLACEMENT. WHAT IF MY YOUNG CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR OR MY MOTHER IN LAW WHO HAS A TOUGH TIME GETTING IN AND OUT OF THE CAR, SOMEONE COULD OF BEEN INJURIED OR WORST. SOMEONE NEEDS TO CAER ABOUT THIS. THIS HAPPENED IN NORWALK CT ON EAST ROCKS RD 06851. SUNNY CLEAR DAY CAR WAS MOVING FORWARD WHEN IT LOST POWER. NO RECENT WORK ON CAR, NO ACCIDENTE NORWALK CT FIRE INCIDENT REPORT 21-001007
Purchased new in 2019 and first issue started less than a year later. Jerking from park to drive. Check engine light comes on, jerks when at a stop to starting to accelerate. Brought up several times to servicemen and couldn’t figure out the problem. Has continued to present
TURNED ON THE CAR AND A SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM WARNING APPEARED ON THE DASH WARNING ME THAT THE SYSTEM WAS NOT WORKING. TURNED OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED IT. SAME WARNING. BLIND SPOT SYSTEM NOT WORKING AT ALL CURRENTLY.
THE MIDDLE SEAT SEATBELT GOT CAUGHT IN THE RECLINE LEVER WHICH CAUSED THE SEATBELT TO LOCK AND THERE IS KNOW WAY OF RELEASING IT, MAKING THE SEATBELT UNUSABLE.
The shift to park constantly appears when you go to park the vehicle only to be resolved with shaking the stick and clicking the button to get it to park fully. Additionally this car has had to have the alternator replaced after only 4 years of having it which I find to be ridiculous and have heard many other customers have had the same issue of it failing early on I think there must be something deeper to that.

WAS DRIVING ON MY WAY TO WORK AND WHEN I TURNED INTO THE PARKING LOT OF THE SCHOOL I HEARD A LOUD POP AND IT SOUNDED LIKE I HAD RAN OVER A STICK, HOWEVER, WHEN I GOT OUT AND LOOKED THERE WAS NOTHING UNDER MY CAR OR IN THE PARKING LOT AROUND MY CAR EVEN. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY FOUND THAT THE SWAY BAR HAD BROKEN IN HALF. THIS IS GOING TO BE A $2,000+ REPAIR FOR A SOLID PIECE OF METAL THAT SHOULDN'T SNAP INTO LIKE A TWIG. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND COULD HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING ANYWHERE ELSE EXCEPT FOR THE SCHOOL WHERE I WAS GOING SLOW.
SHIFT TO PARK ISSUE- CAR WILL NOT SHIFT EVEN THOUGH IT'S IN PARK.
WHEN I SHIFT THE CAR INTO PARK AND TURN OFF THE CAR A WARNING MESSAGE APPEARS THAT TELLS ME THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK AND THERE IS A RINGING BELL SOUND THAT WON'T STOP. I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR ON AGAIN AND THEN OFF SHIFTING THRU THE GEARS (SOMETIMES MULTIPLE TIMES) TO GET THE MESSAGE AND BELL TO STOP.
WHEN I PUT THE STICK SHIFT IN PARK, IT SIGNALS THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN PARK. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE TRAVERSE. THEY PUT IN A BRA TO HELP IT STAY IN PARK, THE BRA FAILED AND THEY ADJUSTED IT AGAIN. I CAN START AND STOP THE CAR BUT CAN'T TURN THE CAR OFF. THIS HAPPENS IN ANY ENVIRONMENT, ON A HILL, FLAT LAND IN/OUT OF GARAGE. IS TIS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE
I RECENTLY HAD A CRASH IN MY 2019 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE IMPACT HIT MY DRIVER DOOR AND FRONT END OF MY CAR. THE VEHICLE THAT HIT MY CAR WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 45 AND 50 MILES AN HOUR. EVERY AIRBAG IN THEIR VEHICLE DEPLOYED HOWEVER EVEN WITH THE SIGNIFICANT IMPACT NONE OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. I'VE SPOKEN WITH MINI REPAIRMAN AT MORE THAN TWO CHEVROLET DEALERSHIPS WHO STATED THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED.
I WAS PARKED AT A STORE DOING GROCERY PICK UP. THE CAR WAS RUNNING, AND WHEN THE CLERK FINISHED LOADING MY TRUNK, I CLOSED THE TRUNK DOOR, AND THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE FOR ME TO LEAVE THE PARKING SPOT. I ENDED UP HAVING TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN FOR IT TO WORK.
I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A TURN AND AS I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL THE VEHICLE GET LIKE IT EITHER LOCKED UP OR WENT INTO NEUTRAL. I HAD NO CONTROL OVER ACCELERATION.
When I shift to park, the system doesn’t recognize I’m in park and won’t let me turn the car off. I have to jiggle the shift? and sometimes have to put it in a different gear before trying to put it in park again.

CLIO THAT HOLDS THE SECOND SEAT SUNROOF SHADE CLOSED BROKE OFF.
The tire pressure monitoring system shows incorrect information. It is of by 3 - 5 psi when compared to a tire pressure gauge the is tested & calibrated accurate to ±2% at our JACO NIST and ANSI certified calibration lab. Not knowing the correct tire air pressure risks a blowout while traveling. The component will be inspected within 5 days at a Chevrolet dealership service center. The failure causes alerts on the Driver Information Center to the incorrect tire pressure. The error first appeared around June 2020 while checking the tire pressure with my gauge.
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS WHEN ACCELERATING BETWEEN 20-35 MPH. FEELS LIKE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T KNOW WHAT GEAR TO BE IN.

SEATS ON 2ND ROW SEAT BELT GET STUCK AROUND THE RECLINE LEVER. CAR DESIGN DOES NOT ALLOW TO UNLOCK THE SEATBELT.
THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT SYSTEM OVERRIDES MANUAL MODE. IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY TURN ON THE HIGH BEAMS WHILE DRIVING IN DARK CONDITIONS BUT DOES NOT DIM THE LIGHTS IN A TIMELY MANNER WHEN OTHER TRAFFIC IS PRESENT. THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BLIND ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR ANNOY LEADING VEHICLES.
