WHEN I COME TO A STOP THE ENGINE CUTS OUT AND I GET A WARNING MESSAGE THAT SAYS FWC UNAVAILABLE. RESTART ENGINE. I AM WORRIED THAT AT SOME POINT THIS MAY HAPPEN WHILE MY VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THIS HAPPEN INTERMITTENTLY. IT HAS HAPPENED 4 TIME IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS
TWO OCCURRENCES OF COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST DURING ONE DAY. FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25MPH IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN INTO PARKING LOT AND PARKED. THE NEXT OCCURRENCE WAS DURING THE NEXT DRIVE CYCLE AND OCCURRED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED AND PLACED INTO REVERSE. POWER STEERING RETURNED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS THEN PLACED IN DRIVE. ON BOTH OCCASIONS. WARNING WAS DISPLAYED ON DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER BUT CLEARED WHEN STEERING ASSIST RETURNED. NO MIL OR STORED MESSAGES ACCESSIBLE BY VEHICLE OWNER. APPROXIMATELY 1,800 MILES ON VEHICLE.
AS I WAS DRIVING ON A THREE LANE INTERSTATE WITH ALL THREE OF MY CHILDREN IN THE AUTOMOBILE THE POWER STEERING INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND I COULD NOT STEER MY CAR. I PUT ON MY FLASHERS AND STARTED BEEPING MY HORN TO ALERT OTHER DRIVERS. THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO FIND A CLEAR PATH OVER TO THE SHOULDER. AFTER I WAS STOPPED FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS THE INDICATOR LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE STEERING CAME BACK.
STOP AND START SYSTEM FAILS WITH AN ERROR SAYING THAT THE FEATURE IS UNAVAILABLE BECAUSE THE BATTERY IS BEING CHARGED. THE BATTERY IS NOT FULLY CHARGED EVER.
ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THE NAVIGATION SCREEN WOULD GO BLACK OR FREEZE UP. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE UCONNECT THEATER WOULD NOT WORK. EVERYTIME WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS FINE AND DIDN'T INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE. RECENTLY, WE WENT TO THE STORE MADE SEVERAL STOPS AT DIFFERENT STORES ON OUR LAST STOP THE VAN WOULD NOT RECOGNIZE THE KEYS. WE COULDN'T LOCK OR UNLOCK THE VAN. I HAD TO PULL OUT THE EMERGENCY KEY TO GET INTO THE VAN. ONCE INSIDE THE VAN DIDN'T RECOGNIZE THE KEYS. I ENDED UP HAVING TO GOOGLE THE ISSUE FOR A WORK AROUND TO GET HOME. THE ENTIRE RIDE THERE WAS A DISPLAY STATING THAT THE KEY WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE. WE MADE ON MORE STOP AND AN LEFT THE VAN RUNNING. TEN MINUTES LATER IT RECOGNIZED THE KEY AND A UCONNECT STARTING WORKING AGAIN. THE VAN IS A 2018 AND LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A NEW VEHICLE.
VEHICLE STOPPED OPERATING WHILE DRIVING. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. CHRYSLER STATES THIS 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA E-HYBRID NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION. IT WAS PURCHASED NEW. WE PUT ~4K MILES ON THE VAN PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT.
WHILE USING THE PARK ASSIST FEATURE TO PARK PERPENDICULAR MY VAN STARTED TO BACKUP TOO FAST AND BACKED ME INTO A PARKED CAR PRIOR TO BEING ABLE TO HIT THE BRAKES IN TIME. IT RESULTED IN DAMAGES TO BOTH MY VAN AND THE PARKED CAR THAT IT WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK ME NEXT TO.
ON SEVERAL RECENT OCCASIONS, OUR 2018 PACIFICA (WITH ~3K MILES ON IT) HAS STALLED ON US AT AN INTERSECTION AFTER AN ERROR IN REGARDS TO STABILITY CONTROL. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO BOTH ME AND MY WIFE WHILE DRIVING, AND HAS NEARLY CAUSED ACCIDENTS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE MESSAGE HAS INSTRUCTED US TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTART, AND THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US WHILE IN THE TURNING LANE FACING ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE ISSUE HAS HAPPENED TO ME AS WE WERE SLOWING DOWN JUST PRIOR TO TURNING. WE HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN, AND THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN FOR US.
WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN THE VEHICLE'S AUTO STOP/START FUNCTION DISABLED THE ENGINE AS NORMAL. WHEN I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE TO ENGAGE ENGINE THE CAR STALLED AND "SERVICE AUTO START/STOP" DISPLAYED ON SCREEN. THEN THE SCREEN INDICATED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. AFTER I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND OPERATED NORMALLY. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AND HAS 1,200 MILES ON IT. I WILL BE TAKING THE VEHICLE TO MY DEALER FOR ASSESSMENT.
ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING, MESSAGE DISPLAYED TO TURN OFF CAR AND TURN ON AGAIN BECAUSE OF ELECTRICAL FAILURE. BRAKES LOCK AND CAR STALLS UNTIL VEHICLE IS SET BACK TO PARK AND RESTARTED.
THE ENGINE AUTOMATICALLY STOPS WHEN GOING 10 MPH OR BELOW. A MESSAGE COMES UP TO STOP/START RESTART REQUIRED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I AM IN TRAFFIC OR IDLING AT A LIGHT. IT IS OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER BUT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE MESSAGE SO THEY DID NOTHING. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I READ THIS WAS AN ISSUE IN JAN 2017 AND 2018 WITH 2017. APPARENTLY THERE NEEDS TO BE AN ENGINE CONTROL SOFTWARE UPDATE BUT BECAUSE CHRYSLER DID NOT AUTHORIZE THIS THE SERVICE DEPT AT THE DEALER WILL NOT DO ANYTHING. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT TO ANYONE DRIVING. THIS IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY NOW ON MY CAR. IT USED TO BE ONLY ONCE TODAY WAS THREE TIMES IN TWENTY MINUTES. ..*BF.. *TR *DT CONSUMER EXPERIENCING ENGINE STALLS. *JB
THIS HAPPENED ON TWO OCCASIONS. I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, AND THE AUTO START STOP SHUT THE ENGINE OFF LIKE IT'S SUPPOSED TO. HOWEVER, WHEN THIS HAPPENED A BUNCH OF WARNINGS CAME ACROSS MY DASH, SAYING CERTAIN SAFETY FEATURES WERE DISABLED AND THE CAR WOULDN'T RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND RESTART MY CAR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. IT HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER HAVING IT BACK FOR THREE DAYS, AND THEY SAID THERE WAS AN 'UPDATE' FOR IT. HOWEVER WHEN I PICKED UP MY CAR THEY DIDN'T GIVE ME ANY PAPERWORK TO SIGN.
TOUCH SCREEN IS NOT TURNING ON. I HAVE STARTED MY VEHICLE A FEW DIFFERENT TIMES HOPING WILL COME BACK ON, BUT NO LUCK. UNABLE TO GET TO ANY OF THE FUNCTIONS INCLUDING BACKUP CAME DOES NOT COME ON WITH IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN ACCORDANCE, "THE U.S. NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCED THAT IT WOULD REQUIRE ALL AUTOMOBILES SOLD IN THE UNITED STATES BUILT BEGINNING IN MAY 2018 TO INCLUDE BACKUP CAMERAS." UNABLE TO USE ANY OF THE CLIMATE CONTROLS, HEATED SEATS OR VENTED SEATS, RADIO, UCONNECT ETC.. ALL FEATURES UNABLE TO USE DO TO BLACK SCREEN. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES WITH MULTIPLE SCREEN SWAPS AND CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP HUMIDITY CAUSES THE SCREEN TO GO BLACK OR NOT WORK. I ADDITION, I HAVE NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP WHEN CHANGING OUT THE SCREEN PLEASE CHANGE ALL WIRING HARNESS. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS WAS EVER COMPLETED OR NOT. THERE IS A SHORT SOMEWHERE AND WITHOUT BACK UP CAM WORKING IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I WILL BE DRIVING AND THE SCREEN WILL GO BLANK. THIS HAS BEEN ON GOING FOR OVER A YEAR SINCE 2019
ENGINE STALLED DURING THE STOP/START FUNCTION WHILE IDLING AT STOPLIGHTS, AND VEHICLE HAS TO BE RESTARTED. DASHBOARD SHOWS A QUICK MESSAGE ABOUT ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, ENGINE COMPLETELY STALLS OUT, AND THEN SHOWS A MESSAGE TO PUT VEHICLE IN PARK AND TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE HAS 5,300 MILES. THIS OCCURRED ON THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP *LOANER VEHICLE* (A 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA) WHILE DEALERSHIP IS TRYING TO TROUBLESHOOT SAME PROBLEM ON OWNER'S 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. RETURNED LOANER VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR A DIFFERENT CAR.
THE CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING. THIS CONTINUES TO OCCUR AFTER THE NHTSA RECALL 18V-332 HAS BEEN COMPLETED. THE DEALER CANNOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM.
THE CAR HAS LOST POWER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT/STOP SIGN CAR SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY AND LOSES POWER. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER LAST WEEK, THEY COMPLETED AN UPDATE- HOWEVER JUST TODAY THE CAR LOST POWER ON A MAIN ROAD WHICH HAPPENS TO BE RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DEALER. I PULLED IN COMPLETELY SHAKEN AS I HAD MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR AND CARS WERE COMING FROM BEHIND NOT REALIZING I AM STALLED IN THE ROAD. I HAVE LEFT THE CAR AT THE DEALER. IT IS SO DANGEROUS AND SCARY AS I BOUGHT THIS CAR AS A FAMILY CAR AND I CAN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING IT.
WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT IN OUR TOWN THE VAN SHUT OFF AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STARTING SENDING ME MESSAGES ON THE DASHBOARD THAT THE LANE SENSE WAS NOT OPERATING. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO MOVE THE GEAR SELECTOR TO PARK BUT IT WAS LOCKED IN PLACE. THE IGNITION SAID IT WAS IN THE RUN POSITION WHICH INDICATES THE CAR SHOULD BE RUNNING BUT IT WAS NOT. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS FIRM TOO, AS IT WOULD BE WHEN THE CAR IS OFF. FINALLY AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE GEAR KNOB TO PARK AND THEN RESTART THE CAR. I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN REAR ENDED, THIS WAS VERY SCARY AND UNACCEPTABLE ON CHRYSLER'S PART.
WHILE DRIVING - SLOWING TO A STOP FOR A STOPLIGHT, MY CAR'S COMPUTER SCREENS STARTED FLASHING VARIOUS WARNINGS TO RESTART THE ENGINE. AT THIS POINT, THE CAR WAS NOT RESPONSIVE TO THE GAS PEDAL / WOULD NOT MOVE AND THE POWER STEERING WAS ALSO NOT FUNCTIONAL. I HAD TO PUT ON MY HAZARDS, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURN OFF AND TURN BACK ON THE ENGINE.
ON SUNDAY JANUARY 13TH WHILE GETTING OFF HIGHWAY LOST POWER STEERING WHILE TAKING EXIT. DUE TO LACK OF POWER STEERING VAN WENT OFF THE ROAD UP AN EMBANKMENT AND DAMAGED VEHICLE. I CALLED CHRYSLER ON 1/14/2019 AND REPORTED ISSUE. CLAIM #57836097. I WAS TOLD THAT SOMEONE FROM INCIDENT REPORTING TEAM WOULD BE CONTACTING ME WITHIN 4-5 DAYS. I HAVE SINCE CALLED THEM AGAIN ON 1/22/2019 AND AGAIN TODAY 1/28/2019. I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE VEHICLE BECAUSE I AM A 100% DISABLED VETERAN AND IN A POWERCHAIR. THE VAN IS CUSTOMIZED FOR MY POWERCHAIR AND MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. THE POWER STEERING KEEPS GOING OUT INTERMITTENTLY AND NOW OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES ARE OCCURING NOW AS WELL. THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW COMES DOWN ON ITS OWN, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ON DASH GOES ON AND OFF, STABILITY WARNING FLASHES ON DASH AND OF COURSE POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON AND SAYS SERVICE. PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY OFF RAMP THE STEERING WENT OUT FOR A FEW SECONDS. I BROUGHT IT TO BONNEVILLE DEALER IN MANCHESTER NH AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS JUST A FLUKE. OBVIOUSLY IT WAS NOT A FLUKE AND MY VAN IS NOW DAMAGED. DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE RIGHT AND IS BENT UPWARDS AND NOT SURE WHAT ELSE MAY BE DAMAGED. WAITING ON CHRYSLER FOR NEXT STEP.
DURING DRIVING THE VAN WILL SHUT OFF. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY BUT CONSISTENTLY 1-3 TIMES PER WEEK. MOST OFTEN THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF WHILE AT A STOP. THIS HAPPENS WITH BOTH THE AUTO START/STOP FEATURE ON AND OFF. WHEN RELEASING THE BREAK TO RESUMING DRIVING, THE VEHICLE IS OFF AND WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH DISPLAY. "SERVICE STABILITRAC, ABS, ETC. IT THEN DISPLAYS THE IGNITION ICON THAT SAYS DEPRESS BRAKE AND START VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE MUST BE PLACED IN PARK, THEN RESTARTED. THIS SAME EVENT HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 50 MPH. NO POWER STEERING, BRAKE BOOSTER OR NOTHING. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THESE ISSUES IN THE 2018-19 VEHICLES AND WE HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THEM FOR 3 MONTHS, HOWEVER THEY HAVE NO RESOLUTION PROPOSAL AND FEEL IT OK TO KEEP THIS TYPE OF LIABILITY ON THE ROAD......NOT ACCEPTABLE.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE AT LEAST 4 TIMES FOR THE STALLING ISSUE. I AM EITHER DRIVING AT 24MPH OR LESS AND IT JUST SHUTS OFF. OFF. SOMETIMES IM SITTING AT A LIGHT AND IT SHUTS OFF. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR-ENDED 3 TIMES. POLICE HAVE HAD TO DIRECT TRAFFIC AROUD ME TWICE. MY CHILDREN ARE SCARED TO RIDE IN IT. THE MEDIA DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK. A USB PLUG DOESNT WORK THE ONE USED FOR CAR PLAY. THE REAR SENSORS DO NOT ALWAYS WORK. THIS VAN IS CURRENTLY SITTING IN MY GARAGE. USELESS TO ME. I AM NOT PUTTING MY KIDS AT RISK ANY LONGER.
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND COMING TO A STOP, THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF FOLLOWED BY A MULTITUDE OF ERROR LIGHTS AND MESSAGES ON THE DASH AND LIGHTS FLASHING ON THE GEAR SELECTOR. UPON SHUTTING OFF UNEXPECTEDLY THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION WITH NO POWER STEERING, BRAKE ASSIST, OR ANY OTHER ELECTRICAL FUNCTION. THE BRAKE HAS TO BE APPLIED, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED TO PARK AND FINALLY THE START BUTTON PRESSED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND VERY FRIGHTENING THE TWO TIMES THAT IT HAS HAPPENED. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND AN EMERGENCY SERVICE APPOINTMENT HAS BEEN SCHEDULED. ALSO, THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND A CASE NUMBER HAS BEEN ASSIGNED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. IN ADDITION, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN. ALSO, THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS WERE INOPERABLE, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INCREASED TO HIGH, AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ENGAGE INTO GEAR. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LANDMARK CHRYSLER DODGE RAM OF ATLANTA (5745 PEACHTREE INDUSTRIAL BLVD, CHAMBLEE, GA 30341, (678) 825-3200) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT TWO BATTERIES FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT HAD CONCERNS ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED 911 FOR ASSISTANCE DURING THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 57793693. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000.
VAN WILL JERK OR JOLT WHEN IT'S SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS GOING 10- 50 MPH ON A FLAT STRAIGHT AWAY CITY ROAD. DANGEROUS ON THE ROAD BECAUSE ITS UNPREDICTABLE AND UNCONTROLLABLE. THE JOLT FEELS AS THOUGH YOU HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. MY CAR IS A LITTLE OVER A YEAR OLD. I'VE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY AFTER I BOUGHT THIS BRAND NEW VAN WITH LESS THAN 10,000 MILES.
WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ENGINE STARTED HESITATING, QUICKLY FOLLOWED BY ENGINE SHUTDOWN AND TOTAL LOSS OF ACCELERATION. WITHIN SEVERAL SECONDS ENGINE RESTARTED, FOLLOWED BY A RAPID INCREASE IN RPMS. THEN ENGINE SHUT DOWN AGAIN. AFTER PULLING OFF ROAD, I WAITED SEVERAL MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE CAR. IT WOULD RUN FOR 30 SECONDS OR SO AND THEN SHUT DOWN, THIS PATTERN REPEATING UNTIL I COULD FIND A SAFE SPOT TO PARK THE CAR AND ARRANGE FOR TOW. DEALERSHIP REPLACED FUEL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR, FUEL SUPPLY TUBE, AND FUEL PUMP. CAR IS 6 MONTHS OLD.
WE PURCHASED OUR 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN EARLY OCTOBER 2018 AND HAVE SINCE PUT LESS THAN 3,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. TODAY, WHILE DRIVING ON A LEVEL RURAL ROAD NEAR OUR HOME, A COUPLE OF WARNING LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING OUT OF NOWHERE: ONE INDICATING THAT BLIND-SPOT MONITORING WAS DISABLED, AND ANOTHER RE: ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL. NOT LONG AFTER WE STARTED UP A HILL A HALF-MILE LATER, THE ACCELERATOR STOPPED RESPONDING. WE WERE SLOWING DOWN. THEN, THE CAR BASICALLY STALLED AND CAME TO A STOP. MORE WARNING LIGHTS AND SOUNDS CAME ON, INCLUDING A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND ONE INDICATING THAT WE NEEDED TO SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION. THEN ON THE DISPLAY ABOVE THE WHEEL, A MESSAGE SAID THAT WE NEEDED TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE TO ENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE. WE CALLED 911 IN HOPES OF HAVING AN OFFICER HELP DIRECT TRAFFIC WHILE WE WAITED FOR A TOW, AS WE WERE STOPPED AROUND A CURVE AND AT A HIGH RISK OF GETTING REAR-ENDED. THE CAR WASN'T RESPONDING WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF. I WASN'T ABLE TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO PARK, EITHER (THE LIGHT ABOVE EACH GEAR FLASHED WHEN I TRIED TO SHIFT AWAY FROM DRIVE). ALSO, THE HAZARD LIGHTS WOULDN'T TURN ON, AND NOR WOULD THE PARKING BRAKE (I HAD TO KEEP MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM ROLLING BACKWARD DOWN THE HILL). AS WE WAITED FOR THE TOW TRUCK, THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH CONTINUED TO FLASH AND THE ALARMS CONTINUED ON. AT SOME POINT, I ONCE AGAIN TRIED TO TURN THE CAR OFF. IT WORKED. THEN, WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON AGAIN, ONLY A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER ALSO HAD NO ISSUE REVERSING THE VAN UP ONTO THE BED OF HIS TRUCK.
THE CAR WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN OCTOBER OF 2018. TOWARDS THE END OF DECEMBER, THE CAR STOPPED WORKING. LUCKILY, WE WERE AT HOME WHEN THIS HAPPENED, BUT BASICALLY, THE CAR WOULD NOT START DESPITE VARIOUS ATTEMPTS. WE BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT HAS SINCE BEEN "WORKED ON" FOR THE PAST MONTH, BUT STILL TO GET A DIAGNOSIS....*BF.. *TR
WHEN COMPLETING A STOP AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, THE VEHICLE START/STOP SYSTEM SHUTS OFF THE ENGINE AND WITHOUT WARNING IT HAS NOT RESTARTED AUTOMATICALLY LEAVING US EXPECTING TO TAKE OFF AND HAVING TO PUT THE VEHICLE BACK IN PARK WHILE IN TRAFFIC AND THEN RESTART THE ENGINE AND MOVE GEAR SELECTOR BACK TO THE DRIVE POSITION. I'VE NEARLY BEEN REAR-ENDED DUE TO THIS SEVERAL TIMES. I HAVE COUNTED 7 TIMES THIS MALFUNCTION HAS HAPPENED. WHEN CHECKING THE VEHICLE FOR ANY DTC'S THERE HAVE NEVER BEEN ANY.
THE ENGINE START/STOP FEATURE OF THIS VAN IS FAULTY AND CHRYSLER KNOWS IT. BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THIS ISSUE THEY CANNOT PLACE A RECALL. THIS ISSUE IS NOT LIMITED TO MY PERSONAL VAN. OUR PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 13,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT 5 TIMES. 3 FOR THE SAME ISSUE. WE HAVE STALLED OUT IN INTERSECTIONS 4 TIMES. ONE TIME WE (WIFE AND CHILDREN) WERE ALMOST STRUCK BY A TRUCK. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. AGAIN CHRYSLER IS AWARE AND ONLY OFFERED AN EXTENDED SERVICE AGREEMENT.
WHILE JUST DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY A CONSTANT ALERT BEEPING & 'BRAKE NOW' IS FLASHED ON THE DASHBOARD! SCARES YOU TO DEATH. AND WHEN YOU DO BRAKE AS IT SAYS THAT COULD CAUSE REAR END ACCIDENT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3TIMES! WHEN VAN IS STARTED THE 2 BACK SLIDING DOORS AND THE BACK HATCH ALL OPEN UP WITHOUT ANY BUTTONS BEING TOUCHED.
WHILE CAR PARKED, TURNED ON CAR, CAR STUCK IN "RUN" POSITION, UNABLE TO CHANGE GEARS, UNABLE TO TURN CAR OFF.
AT APPROXIMATELY 130 MILES, THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE FAILED RESULTING IN ERRATIC ACCELERATION AND LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. THE ENGINE WOULD VIOLENTLY GO FROM 0 TO 2000 RPMS WHILE DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2018 PACIFICA IN 45 MPH TRAFFIC ON A LOCAL ROAD, THE CAR FLASHED 'STABILITY CONTROL' AND LOST ALL POWER. THE BRAKES WENT HARD, THE CAR COMPLETELY STALLED. THE DISPLAY READ 'STABILITY CONTROL' THEN DISAPPEARED FROM THE SCREEN AND IT INSTRUCTED ME TO PUT CAR IN PARK AND TO RESTART THE CAR. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS DRIVING 50 MPH ON A STATE HIGHWAY SLOWING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN WHEN THE VEHICLE DID THE EXACT SAME THING AS STATED ABOVE.
WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, AND THE AUTO SHUT OFF FEATURE SHUT THE CAR OFF, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START UP AGAIN. THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO BE STALLED OUT IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD ON A CITY STREET. ONLY A FEW MINUTES LATER DID THE CAR START UP AGAIN.

THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that six months after purchasing the vehicle, the vehicle experienced a tire blowout and upon looking for the spare tire kit, he became aware that there was no spare tire kit inside the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a nearby gas station where the tire was replaced. The contact contacted an unknown dealer and inquired about the spare tire kit. The dealer attempted to order the part unsuccessfully and later informed the contact that the part had been discontinued. The contact stated that he had contacted several other dealers in the USA and Canada and was informed that the part was no longer available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist and that the NHTSA could require them to install the spare tire kit inside the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 800.
I WAS TRAVELING ON I-95 NORTH BOUND IN SOUTH CAROLINA AT 75 MPH IN THE FAR LEFT LANE. I WENT TO SHIFT BACK TO THE CENTER LANE WHEN THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED AND SENT US ACROSS 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC. WE ALMOST SIDESWIPED A SEMI-TRUCK. I WAS ABLE TO BREAK ENOUGH TO END UP BEHIND THAT TRUCK IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE AND REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE RED STEERING WHEEL LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH BOARD WITH A MESSAGE POWER STEERING FAILURE SERVICE REQUIRED. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE NEXT OFF RAMP AND ONCE ABOUT HALF WAY UP THE RAMP THE POWER STEERING STARTED WORKING AGAIN. SEVERAL HOURS LATER THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN THIS TIME I WAS GOING STRAIGHT AT 65 MPH IN NORTH CAROLINA. IT REMAINED OUT FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN STARTED WORKING AGAIN. IT DID THIS 4 MORE TIME ON OUR TRIP FROM FLORIDA TO MARYLAND. ON ONE OCCASION WE WERE IN TRAFFIC IN VIRGINIA AT 5 MPH AND IT WENT OUT FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES BEFORE WORKING AGAIN.
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT APPROX. 30 MPH AND MY DASH STARTED TO BEEP STATING THAT I HAD NO POWER STEERING AND I WAS UNABLE TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS ALL COMPUTERIZED AND THAT IT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. AFTER I LEFT THE DEALER AND DROVE DOWN THE HIGHWAY AGAIN MY VEHICLE CONTINUED TO LOOSE POWER STEERING BUT ONLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE. WHEN I WOULD COME TO A STOP THE COMPUTER MESSAGE WOULD GO AWAY AND THEY VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE TURNED AND DRIVEN AS NORMAL.
WHILE APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE CAR CAME TO A STOP AND COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. I HAD TO TURN SHIFTER OF THE CAR FROM DRIVE TO PARK AND THEN RESTART THE CAR. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. SCARY TIME AS THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS MAKING A LEGAL K TURN AND THE CAR SHUT OFF AS I STOPPED THE CAR BEFORE PUTTING THE CAR IN REVERSE. I WAS T'D IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE FIRST TIME OCCURRED WAS 11/23/18 THEN AGAIN 12/18/018, AGAIN 12/21/18 AND TODAY 1/3/2018
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 CHRYSLER 300. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 38 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A SECOND VEHICLE. THE FRONT END OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED, BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED AN INJURED LEFT SHOULDER, WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. WHEN THE STOP/START FUNCTION IS ACTIVATED, THE ENGINE WILL COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE IDLING AT STOPLIGHTS OR STOP SIGNS, AND PACIFICA HAS TO BE SHIFTED INTO PARK AND RESTARTED. (THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY AND OCCURS GOING STRAIGHT ON THE ROADWAY AND TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT.) CHIMES SOUND AND DASHBOARD DISPLAY FLASHES A MESSAGE ABOUT ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, ENGINE COMPLETELY STALLS OUT, AND THEN SHOWS A MESSAGE TO PUT VEHICLE IN PARK AND TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. STARTED OCCURRING AROUND 11K MILES AND HAS HAPPENED 8 TIMES TO DATE. SEVERAL VISITS TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP INCLUDE: FIRST VISIT WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND THAT DIDN'T FIX THE ISSUE. SECOND VISIT WAS TO REPLACE BOTH BATTERIES AS BOTH REPORTEDLY FAILED THEIR TESTS, AND THAT DIDN'T FIX IT. OPENED A CHRYSLER CARE CASE AFTER 7TH ENGINE STALLING INCIDENT. THIRD VISIT WAS TO ADD A DATA RECORDER. CAPTURED DATA ON 8TH STALLING INCIDENT. CHRYSLER IS UNWILLING TO REPORT WHAT INFO WAS LEARNED FROM THE DATA RECORDER AND WHETHER ROOT ISSUE HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED. FOURTH VISIT TO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AFTER DATA RECORDING CAPTURE INCLUDED REPLACING THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, AND CHRYSLER BELIEVES THAT WILL FIX THE ISSUE. CUSTOMER NOW HAS VEHICLE FOR DRIVING (AND FURTHER ROAD TESTING).
VEHICLE RANDOMLY LOSES POWER DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. TRANSMISSION JERKS AND SOMETIMES SHIFTS TO PARK WHILE MOVING.
AT ABOUT 12900 MILES, THE CAR SUDDENLY HAD PROBLEMS FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AFTER STARTING WITH MAINTAINING POWER STEERING. A LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD WOULD BE LIT AND SAY THAT THE POWER STEERING IS UNAVAILABLE AND NEEDED TO BE SERVICED AND IT WOULD BE OUT. THEN IF WOULD COME ON AFTER A WHILE AND THEN MIGHT GO OUT AGAIN FOR A TIME. I WOULD BE STARTING THE VEHICLE IN THE MORNING AFTER SITTING ALL NIGHT AND I WOULD DRIVE IT, EVEN WHEN IT WAS OUT BECAUSE I HAD TO GO TO WORK.
WHILE CAR PARKED, TURNED CAR ON, CAR STUCK IN "RUN" POSITION, UNABLE TO CHANGE GEARS, UNABLE TO TURN CAR OFF.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A CHECK POINT PROCEEDED FORWARD WHEN TOLD TO AND WITH IN 20-30 FEET THE WARNING SYSTEM WENT OFF AND VEHICLE CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP FOR NO REASON. NOTHING IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AT ALL. SIMILAR SITUATIONS HAVE HAPPENED BUT THERE WERE VEHICLES PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS YOU GO INTO A TURN, BUT THE VEHICLE NEVER ACTUALLY BRAKED FOR THOSE.
1. IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS VEHICLE HAS HARSH SHIFTING, JERKS LIKE ITS SHIFTING INTO A DIFFERENT GEAR WHILE DRIVING UNDER 40 MPH. THIS STARTED HAPPENING TWO WEEKS OR SO AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW AND DOES THIS ONCE TO TWICE A WEEK. 2.) IN MOTION ON STREETS AND FREEWAY THE STEREO GOES BLACK RANDOMLY AND WILL NOT TURN BACK ON, RADIO ALSO WILL RANDOMLY JUMP FROM MULTIPLE STATIONS INCLUDING AM/FM, CARPLAY, ETC. WHILE DRIVING. 3). IN MOTION DRIVING ON CITY STREETS THE VEHICLE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM KICKED IN WHILE PULLING OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND STOPPED VEHICLE DEAD IN ITS TRACKS WITH 3 CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. I MADE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS AND WAS UNABLE TO RELEASE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM FOR ONE HOUR UNTIL IT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF AND THEN WAS ABLE TO DRIVE BACK INTO DRIVEWAY.
WAS USING PARK ASSIST AND THE CAR DID NOT PARK ITSELF CORRECTLY AND HIT ANOTHER CAR. WHILE USING PARK ASSIST FEATURE THE CAR STARTED TO MOVE TOO FAST AND THE STERLING WHEEL DID NOT TURN THE CAR CORRECTLY. THE CAR WAS MOVING SO FAST, THERE WAS NO TIME TO PRESS THE BRAKE. IN THE RESULT OUR CAR HIT ANOTHER PARKED CAR AND JUMPED ON THE CURB. IN THE RESULT OUR REAR BUMPER AND REAR DOOR WERE DAMAGED. WE CONTACTED CHRYSLER RIGHT AWAY TO TELL WHAT HAD HAPPENED, THE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD US TO CONTACT OUR INSURANCE AND THEN INSURANCE WILL DO INVESTIGATION. WHEN WE CONTACTED OUR INSURANCE THE REPRESENTATIVE SAID THAT CHRYSLER IS THE ONE WHO DOES THE INVESTIGATION. AFTER THAT CHRYSLER WAS CONTACTED BY US NUMEROUS TIMES, EACH TIME DIFFERENT REPRESENTATIVE, EACH TIME SOME INFORMATION WAS MISSING FROM THE CASE THAT INVESTIGATION TEAM COULD NOT START TO DO THEIR INVESTIGATION. SO, EACH TIME I SPOKE WITH THE REPRESENTATIVE (I HAVE THEIR NAMES) WE WERE ADDING MISSING INFORMATION, AND CREATING NEW CASE NUMBER. IT TOOK ALMOST A MONTH FOR THE INVESTIGATOR TO CONTACT US TO DO THE CAR INSPECTION. BY THIS TIME THE CAR WAS FIXED THRU INSURANCE. AFTER THE INSPECTION TOOK PLACE CHRYSLER DID NOT SEND US ANY SOLUTION OR SUGGESTION IF PARK ASSIST NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THE ONLY LETTER THEY SEND STATING THAT SINCE THE CAR WAS FIXED NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT THIS ISSUE. SO ITS UNCLEAR EITHER ALL FEATURES IN THIS CAR FUNCTION PROPERLY. I THINK IT'S NOT FAIR THAT MY INSURANCE HAD TO PAY AND MADE THIS ACCIDENT AS MY FAULT
WAS PARKING MY CAR USING PARK ASSIST FEATURE. THE CAR SPEED UP AND CRASHED THE REAR BUMPER INTO ANOTHER CAR.
THE DRIVERS SCREEN (NAVIGATION , BACK UP CAMERA, DVD,ETC) FREEZES REGULARLY. THIS MEANS THAT OFTEN THE BACKUP CAMERA IS UNAVAILABLE, AT TIMES THE MOVIE SHOWS EVEN WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE REPORTED IT SEVERAL TIMES TO CHRYSLER'S UCONNECT TEAM WITH NO RESOLUTION. MY CASE MANAGER IS NO LONGER ANSWERING MY CALLS. I HAVE VIDEOS OF THE MALFUNCTION. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ASKED ME TO BRING THE CAR IN 5 TIMES ALREADY, WITH NO RESOLUTION, BUT THEIR 'PLAN' IS TO JUST HAVE ME KEEP BRINGING IT IN BUT SAID THEY CANNOT REPLACE THE SCREEN/DEVICE. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT I CANNOT RELIABLY ACCESS MY REAR CAMERA OR CHANGE APPLICATIONS. I HAVE VIDEOS OF MULTIPLE IMSTAMCES
NOTES OF 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA : ON OCTOBER 24, I PURCHASED A 2018 PACIFICA LIMITED WITH 22,000 MILES. DROVE IT HOME .AND TURNED INTO MY DRIVEWAY JUST BEFORE MY GARAGE. MY WIFE (WHO WAS STILL IN THE VAN) SAID I WAS TOO FAR OVER AND SUGGESTED I BACK UP AND LINE UP BETTER. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND PUT THE ROTATOR CONTROL IN REVERSE. THE ENGINE STARTED AND I QUICKLY PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE. IMMEDIATELY THE ENGINE RPM JUMPED UP, THE VEHICLE STARTED ROARING BACKWARDS. THE REVERSE MOMENTUM THRU ME FORWARD (I STILL HAD THE SEAT BELT ON). IT ALSO THRU ME AGAINST THE BRAKE AND THE ACCELERATOR. THE PACIFICA ROARED BACK OFF MY DRIVEWAY INTO OUR CUL DE SAC, ROTATED 90 DEGREES AND LANDED NEXT TO MY NEIGHBORS STONE FLOWER BED. THE ENGINE THEN DIED. THE 'AUTO STOP' FEATURE WAS OPERATIONAL. VERY FORTUNATELY, THERE WERE NO CARS OR PEOPLE IN THE DRIVE SO NO ONE WAS HURT. HAD THEY BEEN IT WOULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. IT WAS DELIVERED TO THE BODY SHOP . THE TOTAL DAMAGES WERE $4,500 AND TOOK THREE WEEKS IN THE REPAIR SHOP.. AFTER RETURN I NOTICED THE PACIFICA STILL RESPONDED WITH SUDDEN ACCELERATION AND JERKY SHIFTING, MAKING DRIVING AN EXTREMELY NERVOUS VENTURE. AN INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED OTHER SIMILAR EVENTS IN THE PACIFICA.
