GOING DOWN A HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH THE SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. SYSTEM CAME BACK ABOUT 10 SECONDS LATER. THE SECOND TIME, ABOUT 5 HOURS LATER THE VEHICLE SPONTANEOUSLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I COASTED TO AN EXIT PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY INTO A PARKING LOT AND SHUT OFF ENGINE. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART ENGINE AT THAT TIME AND BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG, THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AFTER 4 DAYS. ADDITIONALLY THE STOP START WARNING LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON. MILAGE OF THE VEHICLE IS 3900 MILES AND IS 3 MONTHS OLD
2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA ~4500MI. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED THE ENGINE SUDDENLY CUT OFF WITH NO WARNING. ALL ELECTRONICS WERE STILL POWERED. THE DISPLAY ON THE DASHBOARD FLASHED SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT OF " TURN TO P AND PRESS START/STOP." LUCKILY I WAS SLOWING FOR A RED LIGHT WHEN THIS OCCURRED AND WAS NOT TRAVELING AT SPEED. I CAME TO A STOP, TURNED THE GEAR SELECTOR TO P THEN START/STOP TO RESTART THE ENGINE. NO FURTHER ISSUE ON RESTART, HOWEVER, THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
I CALLED THE DEALER REGARDING ANOTHER ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE ARE 2 OPEN RECALLS AND HAD TO WAIT 2 MONTHS TO GET THE SERVICE APPOINTMENT. THE RECALLS ARE FOR A MANUAL PARK RELEASE AND THE CRUISE CONTROL. THIS IS VERY ALARMING AND VERY DANGEROUS. I CALLED CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT I CAN DO AND NEED TO WAIT THE 2 MONTHS. THIS VEHICLE IS A HAZARD TO THE ROAD! I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE FOR 2 MONTHS!
WHILE DRIVING OUR 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA ON I-95 SOUTH IN NH, TRAFFIC CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP AND WE REAR-ENDED A JEEP WRANGLER AT APPROXIMATELY 30-40 MPH. I BRAKED FOR ABOUT 20 FT AND STRUCK THE JEEP. OUR AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT IMMEDIATELY BURST INTO FLAMES UPON IMPACT. THE FLAMES WERE SO IMMEDIATE AND SO VIOLENT THAT MY WIFE AND I ONLY HAD TIME TO REMOVE OUR YOUNG DAUGHTERS FROM THE MIDDLE ROW OF THE VEHICLE. THE ACCIDENT ITSELF WAS MINOR, THE JEEP WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AWAY AFTER THE ACCIDENT. OUR PACIFICA WAS A COMPLETE LOSS AS A RESULT OF THE FIRE. ...*BF.. UPDATED 10/30/18*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR, BUT THE SENSOR BECAME INOPERABLE AND CLOSED ON HER DAUGHTER'S HAND. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 7,207.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF IN THE DRIVEWAY ON A SLIGHT SLOPE, THE CONTACT REMOTELY OPENED THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND RESTED HER RIGHT HAND ON THE DOOR. WHILE RETRIEVING SOMETHING FROM THE BACK OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR CLOSED AND LATCHED ONTO THE CONTACT'S HAND WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STRUGGLED WITH THE HELP OF A NEIGHBOR TO RELEASE THE DOOR LATCH AND FREE HER HAND. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,000.
THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN I WAS IN A PARKING LOT. I GOT INTO MY CAR AND WHEN I WENT TO PRESS THE BRAKE AND PUSH TO START, MY BRAKE WAS LOCKED AND MY COMPUTER STARTED FLASHING SERVICE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, PARK BRAKE UNAVAILABLE, ENTER AUTO-THEFT CODE AND OTHER NUMEROUS ERROR MESSAGES. I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO THE CLOSEST SERVICE AND THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. YESTERDAY I WAS IN TRAFFIC AT A STOP LIGHT AND MY CAR DINGED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND MY CAR SAID TO PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTART (THIS HAPPENED TWICE AT THE SAME LIGHT) THEN THE ERROR MESSAGES STARTING FLASHING (SERVICE AIR BAG, SERVICE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, BLIND SPOT ALERT UNAVAILABLE, ETC) TODAY WHEN I WENT TO START MY CAR THE ENGINE DID NOT COME ON AND THE SAME ERROR MESSAGES STARTING FLASHING AS WELL AS THE CHECK ENGINE. THIS BECAME AN ENTIRELY NEW CONCERN WHEN THIS STARTED HAPPENING WHILE I'M DRIVING. I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR, AND I'M PREGNANT. I JUST DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING AND THIS IS OUR MAIN VEHICLE, SO WE DON'T HAVE MUCH OF A CHOICE.
SEPT 2018 AT APPROXIMATELY 9000 MILES: COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING. ALL SYSTEMS RELAYED ERROR MESSAGES SUCH AS "POWER STEERING NOT AVAILABLE." LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. CAR COULD NOT BE PUT IN NEUTRAL OR PARK OR RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE SHOP WHERE THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. IN DECEMBER THE CAR BEGAN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE AUTO START/STOP CAUSING THE CAR TO LOSE POWER WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT. IT WAS WORKED ON 3 TIMES FOR THIS OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS, TO DATE THERE HAVE NOT BEEN ANY ISSUE OF THIS REOCCURRING. IN MAY 2019 AT 18000 MILES IT WAS RETURNED TO THE SHOP FOR A WHINING SOUND IN THE TRANSMISSION AND THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN.
2 DAYS AFTER PURCHASING CAR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I ASKED SERVICE FOLKS AT DEALERSHIP IF I CAN BRING IT IN. THEY SAID BRING IT IN THE NEXT DAY. LATER THAT DAY, MY WIFE DROVE TO STORE. SHE WAS IN FOR 15 MINUTES. WHEN SHE CAME BACK TO CAR IN PARKING LOT AND STARTED THE CAR THE MONITOR SAID SOMETHING ABOUT CAR BEING PUT IN "PARK" AND THEN HAD ELECTRIC FAILURE AFTER A STRANGE NOISE. WORRIED THAT POWER FAILURE COULD HAPPEN WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION. DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE CAR UNLESS WE GAVE ALL 10S ON SURVEY, WHICH WE REFUSE TO DO. DEALERSHIP SERVICE SAID CAR HAD COMPLETE ELECTRIC FAILURE. WAS TOLD THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THEY HAVE ENCOUNTERED THIS PROBLEM. SERVICE PERSON ALSO SAID THEY WERE AWARE OF DEFECTS IN PACIFICAS. I ASKED HOW COME THEY SOLD CARS WITH KNOWN DEFECTS DEALERSHIP STATED THEY HAVE LOTS OF CARS AND MANY HAVE DEFECTS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTONATION CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM PEMBROKE PINES (954-446-8775, LOCATED AT 13601 PINES BOULEVARD, PEMBROKE PINES, FL 33027), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE VEHICLE SPONTANEOUSLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AFTER COMING TO A STOP
MY NEW PACIFICA IS EQUIPPED FOR THE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM. THIS IS ONE OF THE BIG REASONS I CHANGED TO THIS EXACT VAN. WELL, IT DOESN'T WORK. I HAVE TRIED TO GET IT TO ENGAGE, NO WARNINGS, NO BRAKING, NO ANYTHING. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIM THEY TRIED IT AND IT WORKED BUT THE SERVICE GUY REFUSED TO DO IT AGAIN BECAUSE IT WASN'T SAFE. UMMM, ISN'T THAT THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF IT? IT IS SET TO THE FARTHEST DISTANCE SETTING AND NOT WORKING. I HAVE HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES WHEN TESTING IT, SO KNOW THAT IT IS NOT WORKING. THE DEALER IS GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND BUT I HAVE READ THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THIS NEEDS TO WORK! I PAID EXTRA FOR THIS PACKAGE AND AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. A NEW 45000 VAN THAT DOESN'T DO WHAT IT IS SUPPOSE TO IS RIDICULOUS.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE HORN WAS BUILT WITHOUT A FUSE AND THAT ONE NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DADELAND CHRYSLER DODGE (16501 S DIXIE HWY, MIAMI, FL 33157), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED AND ASSIGNED A TECHNICIAN. THE FAILURE WAS ESCALATED TO A HIGHER OFFICE OF THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,600. ..*BF. *TR *DT 2ND INCIDENT: DEC. 11: TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE WHILE PARKED IN GARAGE AT HOME. CAR WAS TOWED TO DADELAND DODGE WHERE THE AUXILIARY BATTERY WAS REPLACED. 3RD INCIDENT: DEC.19: TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE WHILE PARKED IN GARAGE AT HOME. VEHICLE WAS TOWED AGAIN TO DADELAND CHRYLER. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH THEY REPLACED THE BODY COLTROL MODULE. THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME ON JAN. 4, 2019 THE CAR SEEMS TO BE WORKING WELL NOW.*JB *DT
2018 PACIFICA HAS 218 MILES ON IT. BOUGHT IT 4 DAYS AGO. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS VAN PULLS HARD TO THE RIGHT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES. POWER STEERING SERVICE LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ARE BOTH ON. TURNING VAN OFF AND RESTARTING FIXES THE PROBLEM, FOR AWHILE. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD " THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE". TAKING IT IN FIRST THING MONDAY MORNING.
MY 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA KEEPS STALLING WHILE DRIVING. I FOUND A RECALL FROM 2017 THAT MATCHES MY CAR EXACTLY! RECALL U01. DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS CHRYSLER, KEEP TELLING ME THAT MY VEHICLE YEAR IS NOT AFFECTED BUT MY CAR KEEPS STALLING AT INTERSECTIONS! I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT TWO TIMES WITH MY CHILD IN THE CAR. THEY HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE FOR MORE THAN 42 DAYS IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND SAY THEY CANNOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM IN ORDER TO FIX IT. I EVEN HAVE VIDEO TAPE DOCUMENTING WHAT HAPPENS. IF I STOP AT A LIGHT, OR AM DRIVING VERY SLOW MY VEHICLE SHUTS OFF! AN INDICATOR ON MY DASH STATES TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RE-START IT! THIS IS NOT SAFE WHEN YOU HAVE PEOPLE BEHIND YOU READY TO GO AT A GREEN LIGHT AND YOU ARE STALLED! I REFUSE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ON THE ROAD AND JEOPARDIZE MY FAMILIES SAFETY. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE. I AM STUCK PAYING A BRAND NEW LEASE PAYMENT FOR A VEHICLE THAT I AM NOT ABLE TO DRIVE!
WITH START/STOP ON, SITTING AT A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT, CAR STOPS AS IT'S SUPPOSED TO, THEN I REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE AND IT ROLLS BACKWARD. IT DOESN'T DO IT ALL THE TIME, DEALER UNABLE TO REPLICATE ISSUE AND SENDS ME HOME. I ARGUE STATING MY VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE FOR MY CHILDREN! ONCE IT ROLLED ME INTO A MAILBOX SHATTERING MY REAR WINDOW!
AFTER DRIVING THE VAN IN REVERSE, THE TYPICAL PROCESS IS TO STOP THE VAN, PUT IT INTO DRIVE, AND BEGIN GOING FORWARD. OCCASSIONALLY, HOWEVER, WITHIN A FEW SECONDS OF SHIFTING INTO DRIVE THE CAN VERY ABRUPTLY AND DANGEROUSLY ENGAGES THE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE AND I BECOME STUCK ON THE ROAD SCARED TO DRIVE AND IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC! APPLIES TO 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HYBRID TOURING L
I HAVE EXPERIENCED MY 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA STALLING AT VARYING SPEEDS, INCLUDING WHILE IDLING, MAKING TURNS AND TRAVELING UNDER 40 MILES PER HOUR ON MUNICIPAL ROADS. WHEN IT DOES STALL OUT, THE DASH DISPLAYS 'ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL. REQUIRES RESTART.' I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I HAVE BROUGHT IT UP WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE SAID CHRYSLER DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR IT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE THE CONTACT'S SPOUSE WAS DRIVING 45-50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND AN AUDIBLE CHIME WAS HEARD. THE CONTACT QUICKLY SNATCHED THE STEERING WHEEL OUT OF HIS SPOUSE'S HANDS AND GUIDED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A MINOR CRASH WITH A CURB IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE BUMPER AND FOG LIGHTS. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND TOOK IT TO MCINERNEY'S WOODHAVEN CHRYSLER JEEP (LOCATED AT 23940 ALLEN RD, WOODHAVEN, MI 48183, (734) 362-3100). THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A LOOSE WIRE UNDER THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MECHANIC WAS ALSO UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE EXACTLY 1 MONTH. I HAVE NOTICED WHEN TAKING A SHARP RIGHT OR LEFT TURN GOING APPROX. 20MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL RIP OUT OF MY HAND. TODAY WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT GOING ABOUT 34MPH MY POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETELY GONE AND I HAD A LIGHT FLASHING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO SERVICE POWER STEERING. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHICH WAS VERY DIFFICULT, TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF AND THAN BACK ON AND IT HAD RESET ITSELF. NOT HAPPY WITH LESS THAN 1,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOB BAKER CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (5555 CAR COUNTRY DR, CARLSBAD, CA 92008, (760) 431-3000) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED FOR WEEKS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500.
I WAS STOPPED BY A STOP SIGN ON A CITY ROAD WHEN SUDDENLY THE ENGINE TURNED OFF. THE SCREEN SAID PUT VAN IN PARK AND RESTART. THE VAN WAS IN DRIVE WHEN THIS OCCURRED.
MY WIFE AND I JUST PURCHASED THE PACIFICA AND DECIDED TO TAKE A ROAD TRIP FROM ARIZONA TO OREGON . WHILE TRAVELING THROUGH THE HILLS AND MOUNTAINS THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT PROPERLY TO MAINTAIN HIGHWAY SPEEDS! THERE WAS A LOT OF LAG TIME FROM THE DRIVERS INPUT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE TO RESPOND. ALSO THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD ENGAGE SUDDENLY AND SPEED UP. TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE TECH SAID THE VEHICLE SOFTWARE WAS ENGINEERED THAT WAY AND HE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR US.
TODAY, 8/26/2018 AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH MY NEWBORN AND 2 YEAR OLD SON MY 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA DECIDED TO SHUT OFF THE ENTIRE AC UNIT AND STOP THE CAR UNEXPECTEDLY. WE WERE UNABLE TO RESTART THE AC AND ENDED UP HAVING TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS ONCE WE RESTARTED THE CAR. THIS IS EXTREMELY CONCERNING SINCE IT IS AUGUST IN ALABAMA AND ALSO PUTS MY ENTIRE FAMILY'S SAFETY AT RISK. I AM CURRENTLY TOO AFRAID TO DRIVE MY NEW CAR IN FEAR THAT SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. *TT *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000. **TR CONSUMER STATED VEHICLE LOST POWER AS ENTERING INTERSECTION. I AM NOT SURE IT STALLED, I THINK MORE LIKELY LOST ACCELERATOR CONTROL, AS I DID NOT SEE ANY WARNING LIGHTS. IT WAS A DOWN HILL "COAST" TO STOP ABOUT 300 YARDS SO NOT CLEAR IF VEHICLE WAS "COASTING" OR DRIVING AT IDLE SPEED. PUTTING INTO PARK, PUSHING ENGINE BUTTON TO STOP AND START SOLVED THE PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, CONTROL PANEL STATED "VEHICLE NOT IN PARK" AND THEN COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. I HAD TO COAST INTO A PARKING LOT. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND VAN RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY. HOWEVER, WHEN I PUT THE VAN INTO D (DRIVE) THE CAR REVERSED! I IMMEDIATELY BRAKED AND THEN PRECEDED TO DRIVE FORWARD. THE "VEHICLE IS NOT IN PARK" HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 3 OTHER TIMES WHILE DRIVING BUT THE ENGINE NEVER STOPPED. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME MY VEHICLE HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING. IT LOOSES ALL POWER!!! THE FIRST TIME IT WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP, THEY COULD NOT DETECT ANY ISSUES. IT WAS VERY SIMILAR EXCEPT THE PANEL STATED "VEHICLE IS NOT IN DRIVE". THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO A BRAND NEW CAR! THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND RECALLS SHOULD BE PLACED AS I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS. I HAVE 3 SMALL CHILDREN AND LUCKILY THEY WERE NOT WITH ME.
THE START/STOP FUEL ECONOMY SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE SHOP 3 TIMES TO GET THIS REPAIRED. ONCE TO HAVE THEM IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM, THEN ORDER REPLACEMENT BATTERY. TWICE A NEW BATTERY HAS BEEN INSTALLED AND THE SYSTEM STILL DOES NOT WORK. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 3000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE AND IT HAS NEVER WORKED AFTER THE INITIAL TEST DRIVE. THE DASH BOARD GIVES VARIOUS REASONS WHY IT CAN'T WORK BUT NONE OF THESE CONDITIONS OR SITUATIONS BUT NONE SEEM RELATED TO ACTUAL, CURRENT OPERATION OF THE CAR: ENGINE IS NOT WARMED UP OR THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED TO SHARPLY. DEALER WAS ABLE TO START CAR WITH NO PROBLEM, SO I WAS ASKED TO COME GET IT. A FEW DAYS LATER, FCA ANNOUNCES RECALL U87 FOR PCM PROBLEM. DUE TO A DEFECTIVE VOLTAGE REGULATOR CHIP, THIS VAN, PLUS OTHER CARS IN CHRYSLER'S LINEUP, STALL AFTER STARTING, AND/OR STALL WHILE DRIVING. AS I WRITE THIS ON 9/28/2018, RECALL IS NOT LIVE YET. VAN CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE STALLING AFTER STARTING ON INITIAL STARTUP IN MORNING. A FEW DAYS AGO, CAR SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH IN TRAFFIC. I MADE MY WAY TO SHOULDER OF ROAD. EACH TIME, RELEASING HOOD LATCH CLEARS PROBLEM. I SUSPECT THE LITTLE VOLTAGE SPIKE CREATED BY RELEASING LATCH SOMEHOW AFFECTS VOLTAGE REGULATOR IN THAT PCM IN A POSITIVE WAY. JULY 28, 2018 7:20PM: STOPPED THE CAR AT CROSSWALK FOR PEDESTRIANS. WHILE CAR WAS STATIONARY WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE STARTED TO RACE WITH INCREASING FORCE. FEARING THAT I COULD NOT HOLD IT BACK WITH THE BRAKE, I REACHED OVER AND SHIFTED THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL, WHICH REMEDIED THE SITUATION. NOTES: 1) THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ENGAGED AT THE TIME. 2) THE AUTO STOP/START WAS NOT ENGAGED (I.E. THE BLUE LIGHT WAS ON). THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED. AS I APPLIED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO RACE WITH INCREASING FORCE, DESPITE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. AS THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC COMING, I SIMPLY TOOK MY FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE AND PROCEEDED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. THE SITUATION SEEMED TO REMEDY ITSELF. NOTES: 1) THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ENGAGED AT THE TIME. 2) THE AUTO STOP/START WAS NOT ENGAGED (I.E. THE BLUE LIGHT WAS ON). NEITHER OF THESE EVENTS APPEAR TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH CHRYSLER'S U64 OR U50 RECALLS, AS NEITHER THE CRUISE CONTROL NOR MANUAL PARK RELEASE WERE ENGAGED. HOWEVER, IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE AUTO STOP/START WAS NOT ENGAGED IN BOTH SITUATIONS. ADDITIONAL OBSERVATIONS: ON NUMEROUS PAST OCCASIONS, WHEN THE CAR DID HAVE THE AUTO STOP/START FEATURE ENGAGED (I.E. BLUE LIGHT OFF), THE CAR WOULD "BUCK" WHILE GOING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION (I.E. IT WOULD SLAM INTO GEAR). THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY WE NOW DISABLE THE AUTO STOP/START. 2018 PACIFICA WITH 5450 MILES ON IT. WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH WITH ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, VEHICLE SUDDEN APPEARED TO STOP RUNNING. VEHICLE HAD BEEN OPERATING PERFECTLY NORMAL WITH NO INDICATION OF A PROBLEM UNTIL IT STARTED TO QUICKLY LOSE SPEED AND HAD NO RESPONSE FROM ACCELERATOR PEDAL. MESSAGE ON DASHBOARD SAID TO PLACE VEHICLE IN PARK AND PRESS START BUTTON. I'M NOT SURE IF THE ENGINE WAS ACTUALLY IDLING OR IF IT HAD COMPLETELY STOPPED RUNNING. I DID NOT NOTICE A LOSS OF POWER STEERING OR BRAKES. COASTED OVER TO SHOULDER, PLACED IN PARK AND TRIED TO RESTART. THE ENGINE WOULD START, BUT ONLY IDLE AT ABOUT 600 RPM. ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAD NO EFFECT ON ENGINE RPM AND I COULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IT SEVERAL TIMES WITH SAME RESULT OVER A 3 MINUTE PERIOD. THEN I SWITCHED THE AUTO START/STOP BUTTON INTO THE OFF (DEFEAT SETTING) AND WAS IMMEDIATELY ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, WHICH THEN OPERATED AS NORMAL. SINCE THIS INCIDENT YESTERDAY, THE VEHICLE HAS OPERATED AS NORMAL AND HAS REPORTED NO FAULTS THROUGH THE U-CONNECT APPLICATION. CLEAR WEATHER WITH TEMPERATURE NEAR 100 DEGREES WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED. BOTH KEYLESS REMOTES FOR THE VEHICLE WERE INSIDE THE VEHICLE, MINE IN MY POCKET AND MY WIFE'S IN HER PURSE. BEFORE HEADING OUT ON THIS TRIP I HAD USED THE REMOTE START FUNCTION AND ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO RUN IN REMOTE START MODE UNTIL IT TIMED OUT. THEN HAD REMOTE STARTED THE VEHICLE A SECOND TIME BEFORE SWITCHING IT TO NORMAL RUN MODE BEFORE LEAVING THE PARKING LOT. THIS WAS ABOUT 40 MINUTES BEFORE THE EVENT HAPPENED. IT OCCURRED TO ME THAT THE MESSAGES THAT WERE DISPLAYED ON THE DASH WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS INOPERABLE WERE SIMILAR, OR POSSIBLY IDENTICAL TO MESSAGES DISPLAYED DURING THE REMOTE START FUNCTION, WHICH IS WHY I THOUGHT OF SWITCHING THE AUTO START/STOP BUTTON TO THE DEFEAT POSITION.

6/20 THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THAT THEY PERFORMED THE DTC INSPECTION AND A SYSTEM UPDATE (TO PREVENT VEHICLE FROM STALLING). THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED ON 6/23 AND IT BROKE DOWN ON 6/24. THE CAR WENT FROM 10MPH TO 43 MPH WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS AND THEN INSTANTLY STOPPED AT AROUND 10MPH. THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF AND WAS UNABLE TO START AND HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. I HIT A CURB AND IF I WAS NOT AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER I COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE OR MYSELF OR MY 3 CHILDREN COULD HAVE BEEN HARMED IF THEY WERE IN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE PROVIDED A VIDEO OF THE INCIDENT ON MY YOUTUBE AND THE DOCUMENTATION FROM WHAT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND OFF OF THE ROAD. THE CAR STARTED JUST FINE, IT SIMPLY WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK AND EACH TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON. THE PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT ON NOR DID I TRY TO PUSH IT. I CALLED MY ROADSIDE ASSIST TO ORDER SERVICE TO BE TOWED TO MY DEALER. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN GOT BACK IN TO TRY THE PROCESS AGAIN AND STILL NO RESULT. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES TOTAL, THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED. JUST AS HE WAS ARRIVING I TRIED SAME PROCESS AND THE CAR DID SHIFT INTO DRIVE. I STILL HAD THE CAR TOWED AND THE DEALER SPENT OVER ONE WEEK TRYING TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE WITH NO ANSWERS. CHRYSLER WAS VERY INVOLVED SINCE I HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM ON MAY 23RD. HOWEVER, ON THAT MAY DATE MY CAR STALLED WHILE I WAS WAITING AT A STOPLIGHT ON A BUSY ROAD AND THEN LOCKED IN PARK SO I COULD NOT MOVE IT. THIS TIME I WAS NOT MOVING AS THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A LOT. AFTER 8 DAYS AT THE DEALER I HAVE MY CAR BACK.
IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY A CHRYSLER DEALER, WAS DRIVEN APPROX. 2 BLOCKS AND SHUT DOWN, IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING, FOR A SECOND TIME.
AUTO STOP/START FAILED MONDAY MORNING. DIED AT AN INTERSECTION. I WAS LUCKY. DIDN'T BLOCK THE WHOLE INTERSECTION, BUT ONLY 1 LANE. STOPPED IN FRONT OF A TRAFFIC LIGHT. I WAS THE 1ST VEHICLE OF THE LINE. THE STARTER DIDN'T START THE ENGINE WHEN TRAFFIC LIGHT BE GREEN. THE MESSAGE OF THE VEHICLE GUIDED ME TO TURN TO PARK, AND TO PUSH THE START. I DID MANY TIMES, SHORT PUSH, LONG PUSH. I COULD HEAR THE STARTER KICKED IN, BUT THE ENGINE REFUSED TO START. I STUCK THERE. TURNED ON EMERGENT FLASHERS. I FELT SO FRUSTRATING AND NERVOUS ABOUT THE CAR I PURCHASED THIS YEAR. NICE PEOPLE TRIED HELPING TO PUSH THE CAR TO A PARKING SPOT, BUT I COULD NOT GET IT INTO NEUTRAL GEAR. EVEN THOUGH, I COULD TURN THE BUTTON IT TO NEUTRAL POSITION. IT WAS NOT REAL NEUTRAL. WE COULD NOT PUSH IT. I TRIED TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. BUT I COULD NOT DO IT WITHOUT THE RIGHT WRENCH BY THE F**KING NEW DESIGN. MY SON STARTED CRYING. I CALLED TOWING. I CALLED MY WIFE TO GET MY SON. MORE KIND PEOPLE TRIED TO HELP ME. ONE PERSON EVEN TRIED TO TOWING MY CAR AWAY WITH HIS TOWING STRAP. BUT WE ABANDONED BECAUSE THERE IS NO TOWING HOOK FOUND ON THE CAR. FINALLY, MY WIFE ARRIVED AND RODE MY SON TO DAYCARE. I WENT BACK INTO THE CAR, AND CALMED DOWN A LITTLE BIT. I TRIED TO TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. BRAKE. TURING TO PARKING. PUSHING START/STOP BUTTON. I SUCCESSFULLY TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. TOOK A DEEP BREATH, TURNED ON THE VEHICLE. EVERYTHING BACK IN NORMAL. I RUN THE CAR AWAY FROM THE INTERSECTION, AND CALLED CANCELLING THE TOWING SERVICE. THE WHOLE PROCESS TOOK MY MORE THAN HALF AN HOUR. HATE AUTO STOP START.
TL* THE CONTACT LEASES A 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO STERLING HEIGHTS DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (40111 VAN DYKE AVENUE, STERLING HEIGHTS, MI 48313, (586)-939-3900) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE AND FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE DEALER REPLACED THE START AND STOP ENGINE BATTERY. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE DEALER ALSO TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
