TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE AVENGER. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED FOR AN UNKNOWN ISSUE, THE ORC SENSOR AND AIR BAG INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ORC SENSOR WAS REPLACED TWICE AND THE HEADREST AIR BAG ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. BERGSTROM CHRYSLER OF KAUKANUNA (2929 LAWE STREET, KAUKAUNA, WI 54130) REPLACED THE ORC SENSOR A SECOND TIME BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED IT WAS THE SOURCE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NONE OF THE AIR BAGS WERE FUNCTIONAL AND THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO KEEP THE RECEIPTS FOR POSSIBLE REIMBURSEMENT IF A RECALL WAS ISSUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,400.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT KEEP COMING ON ILL GET IT CHECKED AND A DAY LATER IT POPS BACK ON.
MY DODGE AVENGER IS AT 58000 MILES THE HEATER CORE WENT OUT AND MY CAR OVERHEATED I'VE ONLY HAD IT FOR A YEAR NO REPORTED ACCIDENTS..

ON JUNE 28, 2019 AROUND 5:15PM CENTRAL TIME, I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY 60 MPH DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND HEARD A LOUD NOISE AROUND MY HEAD AREA, AFTER STOPPING TO CHECK WHAT MADE THE NOISE I NOTICED MY DRIVER SIDE HEAD REST HAD EJECTED, I CHECKED FOR A RECALL FOR THE HEAD RESE AND NOTHING WAS NOTED ABOUT IT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE UPHOLSTERY ON THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR PULLED BACK. THE CONTACT GLUED THE FABRIC BACK BY HIMSELF, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE THREE CLIMATE CONTROL BUTTONS IN THE VEHICLE WERE ABOUT TO DETACH. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE PLASTIC AROUND THE BUTTONS WAS MELTED AND CAUSED THE BUTTONS TO BECOME LOOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FREELAND CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (615-270-8499. LOCATED AT 5800 CROSSINGS BLVD, ANTIOCH, TN 37013) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE UPHOLSTERY FAILURE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
WHILE SITTING PARKED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT POPPED OUT. I SPOKE WITH SOMEONE ABOUT IT AT MY LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP ON HOW TO RETRACT IT AND THEY POINTED OUT THAT THE BRACKET HAD BROKEN AND THE HEAD REST NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT IS ON, I CHECK ON RECALLS AND THIS CAR HAS RECALLS ON AIR BAGS, I RESERCH ON INTERNET AND THE CABLE THAT CONNECTS THE AIR BAG ON THE BACK OF THE SEATS HAS A TENSIONER THAT PULLS THE CABLE AND IT IS GETTING BROKEN.
WAS NOTIFIED BY MY MECHANIC THAT THERE IS A NATIONWIDE SHORTAGE ON DODGE AVENGER ENGINE MANIFOLDS. THE MANIFOLD IN MY CAR HAD A HUGE CRACK AND WAS EMITTING EXHAUST FUMES INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE WHEN STARTING UP THE CAR WHILE THE ENGINE WAS COLD. WE COULD SMELL THE FUMES AND IT WAS MAKING US SICK. OUR MECHANIC WAS NOT ABLE TO GET A REPLACEMENT FOR A BRAND NEW PART AND HAD IT SENT TO A PROFESSIONAL WELDER TO FIX THE DAMAGE MANIFOLD IN LIEU OF WAITING A LONG PERIOD OF TIME TO GET A NEW MANIFOLD SENT TO HIM.
IN APRIL 2017, THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE FAILED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO OVER 10 MILES PER HOUR. YES THE PART WAS REPLACED BY WICKSTROM CHRYSLER DODGE IN BARRINGTON IL. ON APRIL 18TH 2019, THE SAME PART FAILED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVE ON THE A LOCAL HIGHWAY WHEN IT LOST POWER AND WOULDN'T GO ABOVE 10 MPH BOTH TIMES.
ENGINE FAILURE TWICE IN A YEAR AND CAUSED BY PARTS THAT WAS APPARENTLY NOT UNDER WARRANTY.
CAR WILL STALL AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WITHOUT WARNING. NO DASH WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATE PRIOR TO STALLING. DRIVER LOSSES POWER STEERING WHEN ENGINE STALLS AND CAR CANNOT BE MANEUVERED OUT OF TRAFFIC. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. FIRST OCCURRED ON STATE HIGHWAY AT 50MPH IN BUSY RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC.

CRYSTAL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP OF BROOKSVILLE (14358 CORTEZ BLVD, BROOKSVILLE, FL 34613, (352) 597-1265) STATED THAT FLUIDS LEAKED INTO THE RADIATOR DURING VEHICLE PRODUCTION, WHICH CAUSED DEBRIS AROUND THE HEATER CORE. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY AND FURTHER TESTING WAS REQUIRED. ADDITIONALLY, THE HEATER CORE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000. *TT*JB
THE HEATER CORE GOT CLOGGED AROUND 50,000 MILES, WHICH CAUSES HEAT TO COME OUT OF ONLY ONE VENT AND COLD AIR OUT OF THE REST. EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER IT SINCE THE PART IS NOT MALFUNCTIONING IT'S JUST CLOGGED. SEEMS TO BE A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM AND THE MANUFACTURING COMPANY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT EITHER. SO IT LEAVES YOU WITH ABOUT $1000.00 FIX

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Avenger. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V668000 (Seat Belts, Air Bags) and the recall repair was performed; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that a year later when the vehicle was started, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a different dealer where it was diagnosed with occupant restraint control failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP, THE AIR BAG LIGHT TURNS OFF AND ON WHILE DRIVING, MINUTES APART FROM EACH OTHER. NEVER HAD MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED FORTUNATELY. *TR
THE OIL FILTER HOUSING IN THE 3.6L PENTASTAR V6 IS A NOTORIOUS DESIGN FLAW THAT HAS AFFECTED THOUSANDS OF CONSUMERS ACROSS THE GLOBE IN VEHICLES SUCH AS THE DODGE AVENGER, DODGE CHARGER, CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY, AND JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. ONLINE RESOURCES REGARDING THIS FLAW ARE NOT HARD TO FIND. ALL IT REQUIRES IS A SIMPLE SEARCH ON GOOGLE TO FIND THE HUNDREDS OF REVIEWS AND POSTINGS OF SIMILAR SITUATIONS REGARDING THE OIL FILTER HOUSING BY OWNERS OF VEHICLES USING THE 3.6L PENTASTAR V6. THE SHEER NUMBER AND FREQUENCY OF THIS PROBLEM REINFORCES THE LEGITIMACY AND CREDIBILITY OF THIS COMPLAINT. THIS DESIGN FLAW HOWEVER, IS NOT ONLY SPECIFIC TO THE WEAKNESS OF THE PLASTIC CONNECTING CAP ON THE OIL FILTER HOUSING (WHICH IS PRONE TO CHIPPING AND CRACKING) BUT IN THE PLACEMENT OF THIS WEAK PART DEEP WITHIN THE ENGINE ' REQUIRING MANDATORY PROFESSIONAL MAINTENANCE TO BE ADMINISTERED. THIS OIL FILTER HOUSING IS EFFECTIVELY A TICKING TIME-BOMB WITHIN ALL 3.6L PENTASTAR V6 ENGINES WHICH SADLY AWAITS ALL CONSUMERS. NOT ONLY IS THIS AN INCONVENIENCE FOR CONSUMERS ' HAVING TO PAY DEALERSHIPS $600+ TO HAVE THE PART REPLACED, BUT A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN ON MANY LEVELS. A FEW EXAMPLES ARE: (1) THE LEAKING OF OIL CAUSED BY THE INEVITABLE CRACKING OF THE OIL FILTER HOUSING CAUSES THE ENGINE TO REACH DANGEROUS LEVELS OF HEAT AND DEGRADE AT A MUCH FASTER RATE. (2) EXPOSED OIL RESTING ON THE ENGINE NEAR THE HOUSING MAY IGNITE CAUSING AN ENGINE FIRE. (3) MORE SPECIFIC TO MY SITUATION, THE LOSS OF OIL MAY OCCUR WHILE DRIVING IN MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN ' WHERE THE RESPONSIVENESS OF YOUR ENGINE MAY BE DIRECTLY CORRELATED TO YOUR CHANCES OF SURVIVAL. IT IS UNFATHOMABLE TO THINK THAT AFTER THE MANY THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR INSTANCES CONSUMERS HAVE FACED REGARDING THE FLAWED PART, THAT A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN PUT INTO PLACE. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE FLAW POSES SUCH AN INCREDIBLE SAFETY HAZARD.
WAS DRIVING VEHICULAR SLOWED DOWN ALMOST TO A STOP AND JERKED FORWARD AS IF I WASN'T GETTING ANY POWER. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ONE. TOOK TO MECHANIC SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE ACCULATOR CONTROL SYSTEM (PER WHAT THE CODE SHOWED) DEALER SAYS NOT UNDER WARRANTY THIS CAR BARLEY HAS 80,000 MILES AND ONLY 4 YEARS OLD. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A BAD ACCIDENT. SCARED MYSELF AND DAUGHTER BAD. THIS WAS A VERY BUSY ROAD.
THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY AVENGER IS BLOWING NOTHING BUT COLD AIR. THE HEATER AND DEFROST ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WORKS GREAT. IN WINTER DRIVING THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WILL NOT DEFROST AND THIS CAUSES A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAVE READ WHERE MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER CORP. WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. I BELIEVE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH DEBRIS COMING FROM THE WATER JACKETS AROUND THE ENGINE. IT IS NOT THE BLENDER DOOR AS I HAVE HAD IT CHECKED. FLUSHING OR REPLACING THE HEATER CORE IS PROBABLY NOT AN OPTION SINCE IT WILL JUST CLOG THE HEATER CORE AGAIN AND THIS IS VERY EXPENSIVE. UNTIL ENOUGH PEOPLE COMPLAIN THIS WILL JUST KEEP HAPPENING UNTIL DODGE FIGURES OUT HOW THEY CAN FIX IT PERMANENTLY. THIS IS DANGEROUS IN WINTER WEATHER AND IT IS A MYSTERY, AFTER SPENDING 100'S OF DOLLARS ON A CAR YOU SHOULD EXPECT TO GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR.
TAKATA RECALL I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY NOR DID MY SEAT BELT RESTRAIN ME. I HAD NO IDEA MY VEHICLE EVEN HAD A RECALL ON IT.

THE DEALER (SHOTTENKIRK CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM, 200 LIBERTY BLVD, CANTON, GA 30114, (678) 535-3417) WAS CALLED AND DENIED ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THE FAILURE EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE PAST INCIDENTS REPORTED ON THE INTERNET. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO GO TO ANOTHER DEALER AND PAY THE DEDUCTIBLE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, WHICH COULD POSSIBLY COVER THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000. *TT CONSUMER STATED CORPORATE OFFICE IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *JB
I WAS LESS THAN 1 MILE FROM HOME. I NOTICED THE THROTTLE WASNT RESPONDING AS IT SHOULD WHEN I PRESSED THE PEDAL. THE ETC LIGHT WAS BLINKING AND THE TRACTION LIGHT WAS ON. I WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE OVER 20 MPH AND I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED AND HAVING TWO MECHANICS LOOK AT IT, THEY DETERMINED IT TO BE A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THIS WAS REPLACED. I PICKED THE CAR UP. LESS THAN 1/2 A MILE FROM THE SHOP, I LOST POWER AGAIN AND THE SAME LIGHTS REAPPEARED WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT NOW LIT UP. I TOOK IT BACK. HE RAN THE CODE AND IT WAS SHOWING POSSIBLE AN VACUUM ISSUE. HE KEPT IT OVER NIGHT TO TAKE A LOOKED AT IT AGAIN. IT WAS DETERMINED THEIR WAS NO VACUUM ISSUE AND NOW A CODE FOR THE MAP SENSOR WAS BEING REPORTED. IT WAS REPLACED AND THE MECHANIC DROVE IT THREE TIMES AT DIFFERENT DISTANCES. NO ISSUES. I PICK THE CAR UP. I GET ALMOST HOME (3 MILES AWAY). ETC LIGHT BLINKS, ENGINE LIGHT ON, TRACTION LIGHT ON. AT THIS POINT THE MECHINCA BELIEVES IT TO BE THE PCM WHICH HE SAYS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH DODGES. SO AT THIS POINT HE IS GOING TO PUT THE OLD THROTTLE BODY AND MAP SENSOR BACK ON AND REPLACED THE PCM.
BOTH OF MY FRONT SEAT HEADRESTS DEPLOYED AS PASSENGERS WERE GETTING OUT THE CAR AND PUSHED AGAINST THE SEATS TO GET OUT THE CAR. THE CAR WAS NEVER INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT SO I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE HEADRESTS DEPLOYED LIKE THEY DID. SINCE THE PINS ARE NO LONGER IN THE HEADRESTS, IT APPEARS I WILL HAVE TO ORDER NEW ONES TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. THE UPHOLSTERY ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR HAS LIFTED.
PASSENGER SIDE AIR VENTS BLOW ONLY COLD AIR WHEN USING HEATER. DRIVER SIDE BLOWS HEATED AIR WITH A ELECTRIC BURNING SMELL. CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT STAY ENGAGED. TRACTION CONTROL CONTINUALLY ENGAGES WHILE DRIVING ON DRY ROADS.
I BOUGHT MY CAR AND LIKE A MONTH LATER WAS NOTIFIED OF A RECALL IT WAS FOR THE AIRBAG , HOWEVER MY SEATBELT WOULD JUST COME UNLATCHED. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR THE RECALL TO BE FIXED AND DID MENTION IT TO THE DEALER. I THAN RECEIVED THE CAR BACK AND I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I WILL BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD OR FREEWAY AND YOU CAN HEAR IT UNLATCH AND COMES OFF. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE OFTEN AND NO ONE KNOWS WHY.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR AT A DEALERSHIP ON JULY 30, 2018 WITH 58,200 MILES. IT WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE FROM 9/7/18 WHILE WAITING FOR THE PERMANENT TAG BECAUSE THE TEMPORARY TAG EXPIRED. AFTER A WEEK I NOTICED OIL ON THE FLOOR AND DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. LUCKILY, I WAS NOT SPEEDING, THE CAR WAS PUSHED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THE NEXT DAY AFTER DIAGNOSES, WE WERE TOLD IT WAS THE ENGINE AND WE NEED TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX IT BECAUSE WE JUST BOUGHT THE CAR FROM THEM. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME, I NEED $6,000.00 TO CHANGE THE ENGINE. THE MILEAGE WAS ABOUT 61,000 WHEN THE CAR WAS RETURNED. NOW, I DON'T HAVE A CAR AND IN THE HOLE FOR OVER $11,000.00 THE DEALERSHIP IS JUST GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND AT THIS TIME. DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. DODGE DOES NOT PARTICIPATE ARIZONA FOR LEMOM LAW.
IMPORTANT NOTE : MY WIFE'S VEHICLE WAS NEVER INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT ON THE VEHICLE DECIDED TO SPONTANEOUSLY DEPLOY. WE ARE NOT SURE WHEN IT HAPPENED, BUT THANK GOD IT WASN'T WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING WITH THE VEHICLE IN MOTION. THE FORCE OF THE HEADREST OPENING APPEARS TO HAVE BROKEN SOME PLASTIC RETAINER PIECES, AND NOW WE ARE FACED WITH REPLACING THE HEADREST. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO BE SURE THERE WERE NO SAFETY RECALLS, AND WAS INFORMED THERE WERE NOT. I ASKED IF THEY WOULD REPLACE A FAULTY SAFETY DEVICE THAT DECIDED TO MALFUNCTION AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ONLY WARRANTY WE HAD ON THE VEHICLE WAS FOR POWERTRAIN AND THEREFORE, THIS WOULD NOT BE A COVERED ISSUE. WE WERE THEN TOLD THE COST TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE HEADREST WOULD BE $625 PLUS TAX FOR THE PART ALONE! I ASKED FOR THE AREA REPRESENTATIVE'S NAME AND CONTACT INFORMATION AND THEY WERE ONLY ABLE TO PROVIDE ME WITH A NAME. I CALLED JIM BROWN DODGE IN TAMPA AND THEY REFUSED TO PROVIDE ME WITH THE INFORMATION AND THEY REFUSED TO TAKE MY INFORMATION TO RELAY TO THEM. I CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER FOR DODGE AND THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING AS WELL, SAYING IT WAS NOT A COVERED PART. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT JIM BROWN TOLD ME HE SEES THIS 5-6 TIMES PER YEAR. WHY ARE CUSTOMERS BEING CHARGED FOR REPLACEMENTS OF SAFETY DEVICES THAT ARE FAILING? FURTHERMORE, IF THE HEADREST IS DEPLOYING WITH SUCH FORCE AS TO BREAK THE PARTS INSIDE, WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF MY WIFE HAD BEEN DRIVING AT THE TIME?!?
I KEEP MY CAR MAINTAINED ON SCHEDULE. I TOOK MY CAR FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, WAS ADVISED OF NEEDING TO DO A FLUSH. EVER SINCE THE FLUSH WAS DONE, MY CAR HAS NOT DRIVEN OR PERFORMED AS SHOULD HAVE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND DOES NOT GO OFF. I DO MORE HIGHWAY THAN CITY DRIVING SO IT ISN'T NOTICED ON HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE DOES RUN ROUGH AT A STOP, AS A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT.
CAR HESITATES WHEN TRYING TO GET UP TO SPEED ON THE FREEWAY TO PASS OR EVEN AT A COMPLETE STOP.HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND MULTIPLE SPEEDS.
PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST SPLIT.OPEN BUT WAS NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT. CAR WAS IN MOTION AT THE TIME BUT NO ONE WAS IN PASSENGER SEAT. CAN NOT GET HEADREST TO PUSH BACK CLOSED.
THE PASSENGER ACTIVE HEADREST RESTRAINT POPPED OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND THE PLASTIC PIECES INSIDE OF IT BROKE MAKING IT UNABLE TO RESET.

THE DODGE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY SEE THIS FREQUENTLY AND HAD NO CONCERN EXCEPT TO ASK FOR $150 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC FEE AND QUOTE $700 TO FIX IT. ARE YOU SERIOUS? THIS IS A DODGE PROBLEM NOT A CONSUMER PROBLEM. I NEED HELP AND ANSWERS! HOW CAN THIS NOT BE A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. MY MECHANIC WONT'T TOUCH THE HEADREST BECAUSE OF POSSIBLE INVOLVEMENT WITH OTHER SYSTEMS. HEAD REST HAS SEPARATED WHILE NOT DRIVING. SINCE THE TIME IT SEPARATED THE AIRBAG LIGHT IN MY CAR WILL NOT GO OFF. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RESET IT ON MY OWN AND SEEMS THAT IT WAS NOT PART OF A RECALL THAT WAS AN AIRBAG ISSUE WITH THE DODGE AVENGER IDENTIFIED IN 2016. MY CAR HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT, IN GOOD CONDITION, BUT I HAVE AN AIRBAG LIGHT ON CONSTANTLY AND MY HEADREST IS "POPPED". THIS IS NOT SAFE TO HAVE HAPPENING IN ORDINARY DRIVING CONDITIONS. THIS PART SHOULD BE RECALLED BY DODGE. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ALL OVER THE INTERNET FOR 2014 AVENGERS. PEOPLE COULD GET HURT. I HAVE NOT HAD THE PART REPAIRED BY DODGE, BUT HAVE BEEN QUOTED UPWARDS OF $500 TO FIX A HEADREST! THE HEADREST IS WHAT IS SETTING MY AIRBAG LIGHT OFF AND NOT KNOWING IF MY PASSENGER WILL BE PROTECTED IS NOT COMFORTING. DODGE NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE. IT WAS AN ISSUE FOR 2010-2013 MODELS AND THAT IS NO DIFFERENT FOR THE 2014 MODELS EITHER.
"TAKATA RECALL" I GOT A LETTER FOR A SAFETY RECALL ON MY 2014 DODGE AVENGER SXT FOR SAFETY RECALL #61/ NHTSA 16V-668 - OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER. EVERYTHING WAS GOING FINE UNTIL JUNE 1ST WHEN ALL SUDDEN WHEN DRIVING MY AIR BAG ICON WOULD FLASH ON AND OFF. TRIED BRING IT BACK TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP THAT HAD FIXED THE RECALL SAYING SOMETHING WAS WRONG AND THAT I HAD JUST BROUGHT THE CAR IN NOT LONG AGO FOR A RECALL. THEY LOOKED IT UP AND SEEN THAT I WAS JUST IN BUT WOULDN'T JUST LOOK AT CAR FOR THE ISSUE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
IT STARTED WITH THE BLINKER SHORTING OUT THE LIGHTS INSIDE THE CAR AND THE PROBLEM IS PERSISTENTLY GETTING WORSE. NOW THE HORN GOES OFF WITHOUT NOTICE WHILE DRIVING, NOW THE HORN IS NO LONGER WORKING AT ALL. I WAS NEARLY IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE I COULDN'T WARN A VEHICLE THEY WERE ENTERING MY LANE. I AM CONCERNED THAT MY CAR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WILL COMPLETELY MALFUNCTION WHILE DRIVING AS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS ESSENTIALLY THE BRAIN OF THE VEHICLE. NUMEROUS DODGER OWNERS HAVE EXPRESSED THAT IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE, EVEN TO THE POINT OF COMPLETELY CUTTING OFF WHILE IN TRAFFIC.
THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE STOPPED WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING AND HASN'T WORKED SINCE. THERE'S NO INDICATION OF OBSTRUCTION INSIDE THE DEVICE; IT'S KEPT CLEAN AT ALL TIMES. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
THIS VEHICLE HAD A SAFETY RECALL OF S61. WORK WAS PERFORMED AND THEN AUR BAG LIGHT AND SIGNAL CAME ON. WE NEED HELP GETTING THIS FIXED. THIS LIGHT AND AIR BAG SIGNAL TURNED ON IMMEDIATELY WHILE EXITING THE DODGE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE 2 WITNESS STATING LIGHT WAS NOT ON NOR WARNING ALARM. COULD THIS MODULE HAVE A DEFECT.
THE THROTTLE AND ENGINE LIGHT LIT UP ON THE DASH. CAR HAS TROUBLE ACCELERATING AND SPUTTERS TIL LIFT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. SOMETIMES WHEN STARTING IT WILL SPUTTER AND TRY TO QUIT. IT WILL ALSO ACCELERATE BY ITSELF WHEN MY FOOT IS NOT ON THE PEDAL AT ALL.
THE FIRST TIME THE THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, I WAS MID-TURN INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC WHEN MY VEHICLE STALLED, COMPLETELY STOPPING ALMOST CAUSING ANOTHER VEHICLE TO T-BONE ME. CAR SHUT OFF AND WHEN I RESTARTED IT, IT AUTOMATICALLY ACCELERATED. ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION WITHIN A MILE AND LATER THAT DAY WHEN I TURNED ON MY CAR TO GO HOME, THE LIGHT WAS OFF AND NO ISSUES. A COUPLE DAYS GO BY, ON MY WAY TO WORK AGAIN, I AM TRYING TO STOP FOR A RED LIGHT, THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND CAR ACCELERATES INSTEAD CAUSING ME TO RUN THE RED LIGHT. THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT STAYS ON FOR THE REST OF THE DAY BUT WHEN I GO TO DRIVE IT THE NEXT DAY ITS OFF AND NO ISSUES. TOOK CAR IN TO GET OIL CHANGED AND OTHER UNRELATED WORK DONE AND THEY DON'T FIND ANY ISSUES. ABOUT 3 WEEKS GO BY, DON'T DRIVE THE CAR FOR 5 DAYS, IT DRIVES FINE THE FIRST DAY AND THEN TODAY (THE SECOND DAY) ON MY WAY TO WORK, I WENT TO SLOW DOWN FOR A STOP LIGHT, WHEN I PUSHED ON THE GAS TO ACCELERATE AGAIN, THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AND I HAVE THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR BUT CAR WON'T GO ABOVE 13 MPH. DROVE THIS WAY FOR ABOUT 3 MILES, MAKING NO STOPS WORRIED THAT I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO GET IT TO GO AT ALL, UNTIL I WAS SOMEWHERE SAFE THAT I COULD PARK THE VEHICLE. JUST WENT TO GO TURN IT ON AFTER ABOUT 4 HOURS AND LIGHT IS STILL ON.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE ELECTRICAL THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. IT FLASHED THEN STAYED ON. MY VEHICLE WOULDN'T GO PAST 30MPH. MY VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE PAST 30MPH. IF I HAVE TO STOP IT WON'T GO PAST 10MPH UNTIL I'M OVER HALF WAY DOWN A BLOCK. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES NOW ON HIGHWAYS AND STREETS. SOMETIMES THE LIGHTS JUST FLASH AND GO OFF. NOW THE LIGHTS ARE ON WHEN I TURN THE VEHICLE ON, WITHOUT ANY MOTION.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAS CRITICAL INTERNAL ERRORS WHERE CAR WILL JUST SHUT-OFF COMPLETELY. I'VE BEEN ON HIGHWAY MANY TIMES WHERE MY 2014 DODGE AVENGER SE V6 HAS LOST POWER AND COMPLETELY IDLES. THE BATTERY IS STILL WORKING BUT CAR WILL NO LONGER START. I HAVE INFANT CHILD AND THIS DEFECT HAS BECOME A SOURCE OF ANXIETY EVERY TIME I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. ALSO, THE NUTS AND BOLTS SEEM TO COME UNDONE FROM THE SIDE FRAMES BELOW THE DRIVER AND REAR DOORS, AS WELL AS BOLTS UNDER HOOD SUCH AS ON THE ENGINE COMPARTMENTS. FINALLY, ROYALTY AUTO INFORMED ME THAT THE OIL FILTER HOUSING UNIT ON THIS VEHICLE IS STOCKED WITH PLASTIC, WHEN IT SHOULD BE MADE FROM ALLOY METAL TO ENSURE QUALITY AND SAFETY.

I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL! I LOGGED ONTO MY CREDIT KARMA (TODAY 3/14/2018) AND THEY NOTIFIED ME THAT 3 RECALLS WERE ISSUED FOR THIS VEHICLE BACK IN 2016. ADDITIONALLY, MY HUSBAND WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON 11/29/2017 AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. HE WAS A TBONED FROM SOMEONE WHO RAN A STOP SIGN AND IS SUFFERING FROM NECK AND BACK ISSUES CAUSED FROM THIS ACCIDENT.
