THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE NOT AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. RIGHT NOW I HAVE ISSUES WITH MY EVAP SYSTEM, TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE. WITH THE EVAP SYSTEM I AM NOT SURE WHAT IS GOING ON WITH IT AND I HAVE REPLACED THE GAS CAP AS THE SYSTEM STATED AND I STILL HAVE THE ISSUE. THE ENGINE ISSUE NOW IS THAT THE CAR IS VERY HESITANT THAN FROM BEFORE. ESPECIALLY IN FIRST GEAR. I HAVE TO REV THE ENGINE TO GET GOING SOMETIMES. I ALMOST WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. NOW THE CLUTCH GOES TO THE FLOOR WITH LITTLE RESISTANCE OR STICKS TO THE FLOOR WHEN I AM ON THE ROAD FOR A WHILE OR WHEN IT HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A WHILE. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR A YEAR AND FEW MONTHS AND IT JUST GETS WORSE. I REALLY BELIEVE THAT THIS CAR IS UNSAFE.
MY SON WAS DRIVING AND HE PARALLEL PARKED SO HE COULD RUN INTO A STORE. I STAYED IN THE CAR. WHEN HE RETURNED HE PUT IT IN GEAR AND SIGNALLED TO PULL OUT. SUDDENLY, THERE WAS A LOUD POPPING SOUND AND WHAT SOUNDED LIKE AIR WHOOSHING OUT OF THE BRAKE PEDAL. HE ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKE AND HE SAID IT FELT LIKE SOMETHING WAS STOPPING IT FROM GOING DOWN. IN FACT, HE IMMEDIATELY STOPPED AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR TO CHECK. EVERY TIME HE ATTEMPTED TO DEPRESS THE PEDAL, IT MADE THE AIR SOUND AGAIN. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE ONLY A COUPLE OF BLOCKS FROM HOME. WE DROVE SLOWLY, RUNNING STOP SIGNS AND USING THE E-BRAKE AND DOWNSHIFTING WHEN NECESSARY. CALLED THE DEALER. THEY SENT A FLAT DECK TO PICK IT UP. THEY TELL US THAT FLUID LEAKED INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. OUR NEW CAR IS NOW IN THE SHOP FOR WHO KNOWS HOW LONG. WE BOUGHT A NEW CAR SO THESE KINDS OF THINGS WOULDN'T HAPPEN. NOW WE ARE CARLESS, WITH A BUSY, FULL WORK WEEK FOR US BOTH COMING UP. MY HUSBAND REQUIRES A RELIABLE CAR FOR HIS WORK. WHAT IS DODGE GOING TO DO TO REIMBURSE US FOR THE INCONVENIENCE AND POTENTIAL DANGER THEY PUT US IN WITH THIS DEFECT?....UPDATED 06/15/16 *BF
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING NOTICED A FAILURE IN POWER WHEN STEPPING ON THE GAS FELT NO GO WITH THE TURBO. STOPPED TO HAVE VEHICLE CHECKED AT ADVANCE AUTO DIAGNOSTIC INDICATOR STATED TURBO FAILURE. VEHICLE HAD NOT REACHED 36000 MILES.
I WENT TO GET IN MY CAR TO GO TO WORK AND WHEN I STARTED MY CAR THE CLUTCH PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND WOULD NOT COME BACK UP. THE VEHICLE GOT STUCK IN FIRST GEAR UNTILL I MANUALLY BENT DOWN AND PULLED THE CLUTCH PEDAL UP AND TURNED THE CAR OFF SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN I SOPKE TO DODGE THEY ACTED LIKE THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS ISSUE (WHICH I KNOW IS NOT TRUE FROM VARIOUS FORUMS AND COMPLAINTS IVE SEEN). NOW I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFTEY OF THE CAR BECASUE IF THIS HAPPENS WHILE IM ON THE ROAD AND NOT PARKED I OR SOMEONE COULD GET SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE DODGE DEALER I SPOKE WITH SAID TO FIX THE ISSUE I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER, SLAVE CYLINDER, AND REPLACE THE CLUTCH. I DONT FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THIS THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE DART. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE BRAKES SOUNDED AS IF AIR WERE PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
PLACING SUN GUARD UP ON THE DASH. WHEN FLIPPING DOWN THE SUN VISORS TO HOLD THE SUN GUARD IN PLACE, THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR BROKE AND DROPPED RIGHT OUT OF THE ROOF AND DANGLING BY WIRING HARNESS. DUE TO THE RANDOM BROKEN COMPONENT, THE VISOR CANNOT BE SAFELY UP AND IS VISIBLE DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER WHEN CHECKING THE PASSENGER SIDE BLIND SPOT. *TR
BLUETOOTH FAILED AT 37000 MILES HVAC BLOWER MOTOR FAILED AT 50K EBRAKE ON CALIPER LOCKED UP 65K ALTERNATOR GONE AT 70 K MASTER CYLINDER GONE AT 74K REVERSE LOCK OUT CABLE FOR MANUAL BROKE AT 50 K PASSENGER SIDE VISOR BROKE OFF AT 38K BACK UP CAMERA MALFUNCTIONING AT 74 K SPEEDOMETER DROPS TO ZERO WHILE DRIVING RANDOMLY RADIO SCREEN GOES BLANK RANDOMLY OIL LEAKING FROM VALVE COVER SEALS AND OIL PAN
THE BRAKE SYSTEM SHUT DOWN AT 50 MPH, I FEARED FOR MY LIFE IT IS ONE OF THE SCARIEST THINGS I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH, I AM LUCKY I AM ABLE TO WRITE THIS LETTER TO YOU. THE PROBLEM ACCORDING TO DAYTON ANDREWS IS THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER FLUID LEAKED INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER, WHICH EVENTUALLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD MY DODGE WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 36,000 YET THERE WAS 36,920 ON THE CAR. THIS WAS MOST DEFINITELY A RECALL OR AN ISSUE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE DODGE WARRANTY. NO NORMAL CAR AT 36,920 HAS THAT HAPPEN UNTIL THERE WAS INITIAL PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR. ....UPDATED 06/15/16 *BF *TR UPDATED 10/11/2017*CN
WHEN FIRST STARTED ON A COOL OR COLD MORNING, THE CLUTCH ON THE 2013 DODGE DART WILL NOT HAVE ANY PRESSURE AND STICK TO THE FLOOR. THE CLUTCH PEDDLE WOULD HAVE TO BE PHYSICALLY PULLED UP FROM THE FLOOR AND PUMPED TO DEVELOP ANY PEDDLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THAT COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM NOR WOULD MAKE ANY INDICATION TO MAKE THE REPAIR. THE NEXT WEEK (AROUND MAY 18, 2015), THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION WAS PARKED IN FIRST GEAR AND WHEN THE CLUTCH WAS DEPRESSED, THERE WAS LITTLE TO NO PEDDLE. THE CAR STARTED AND BEGAN TO LUNGE FORWARD AND STOPPED. THE CLUTCH ALMOST STUCK TO THE FLOOR. . OTHER TIMES, THE CAR IS PARKED IN NEUTRAL AND THE CAR WILL NOT ALLOW THE DRIVER TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. THERE IS FLUID VISIBLE ON TOP OF THE TRANSMISSION WHICH IS SUSPECTED BY THE OWNER TO BE FROM THE HYDRAULIC CLUTCH. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND ARE BEING SUED IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA OVER OTHER CLAIMS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THESE CARS AND THE VOLUME OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE IS INDICATIVE OF A LARGER PROBLEM.
AS I WAS APPROACHING A TRAFFIC SIGNAL, MY CAR LOST POWER AND DID A HALF SHUT OFF (LOST POWER ITEMS, BUT DID NOT ACTUALLY LOCK THE STEERING OUT AS IF THE CAR WAS IN PARK). I WAS STILL MOVING AND WAS DOING APPROX. 20-25 MPH WHEN THIS HAPPENED. MY POWER STEERING, BRAKES, ETC WERE ALL LOST AND THERE WAS AN OVERWHELMING SOUND COMING FROM THE STEREO SYSTEM (SOUNDED LIKE A BOMB GOING OFF IN THE CAR.). I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR STOPPED AND PULLED OVER TO A TURN LANE THAT WAS NOT IN USE WITHOUT GETTING HIT. ONCE I GOT THE CAR STOPPED, IT STARTED BACK UP AND I WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT MY FIRST ISSUE WITH THE CAR. IT ALSO HAS HAD 'SERVICE TRANSMISSION' ERRORS AND GAVE US NUMEROUS ISSUES ON CHRISTMAS DAY AS IT WOULD NOT START WHEN WE WERE HEADED HOME. EACH TIME, THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY HAD THE CAR FOR 92 DAYS WHILE THEY REWIRED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THESE CARS ARE NOT SAFE, EVEN AFTER HAVING THE ELECTRICAL REWIRED, THE CAR IS STILL SENDING ERROR MESSAGES AND NOW SHUTTING DOWN WHILE DRIVING IT. THESE NEED TO BE RECALLED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AFTER APPROX A 50 MILE STRETCH OF CONTINUOUS HIGHWAY DRIVING (~60-70 MPH) I HAD TO MERGE ONTO ANOTHER HIGHWAY BUT FIRST CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP TO WAIT FOR A GREEN TO MAKE MY LEFT TURN. AS I SLOWED DOWN AFTER APPLYING NORMAL BRAKE PRESSURE MY WHEELS LOCKED AND I SLID TOWARD THE STOP LINE. I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE SIDE WHEEL WELL. A FEW MONTHS LATER I WAS DRIVING APPROX A 2 HOUR DRIVE AND NOTICED A BURNING SMELL AGAIN. SOMETIMES I COME TO A STOP AFTER SIMILAR DRIVING SIMILAR DISTANCES AND GET THE SAME SMELL AGAIN. HAVE RECEIVED NOTICE 15V-800 REGARDING BRAKE BOOSTER CONTAMINATION BUT NO FOLLOW UP AS OF YET.
WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STAND STILL ON TO A FREEWAY OR ANY ROAD WITH A SPEED LIMIT ABOVE 25 MPH IS VERY DANGEROUS IN THIS CAR. WHEN YOU STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE CARS DOES NOT RESPOND VERY FAST AND TAKES A FEW SECONDS BEFORE IT ACTUALLY GETS UP AND MOVES TO A GOOD SPEED. THIS ISSUE HAPPENS EVERY TIME YOU ACCELERATE, THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. I HAVE HAD MANY CLOSE CALLS WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC.
WHEN TRYING TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE THE TRANSMISSION IS ROUGH IN DOING SO MAKES A JERKING MOTION AND SEEMS TO SLAM INTO GEAR MAKING A LOUD NOISE. ...UPDATED 09/28/15 *BF UPDATED 11/07/2017*CN
3 OUT OF 4 HUMHO SOLUS KH25 225/45R17 K2X5 YAL8 (2X 4112 AND 3414) SIDEWALL FAILURES WITHIN ONE AND A HALF YEARS OF PURCHASE. THESE TIRES FELL JUST SHORT OF THE PRODUCT RECALL SERIAL NUMBERS, BUT CLEARLY HAVE THE SAME SIDEWALL DEFECTS. ONE TIRE BLEW OUT A SIDEWALL WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE OTHER TWO TIRES HAVE DEVELOPED GOLF BALL SIZED BULGES IN SIDEWALL.
WHEN I'M DRIVING THE CAR SOMETIMES I WILL PRESS THE GAS BUT IT WILL NOT GO IT ROLLS BACK...OFTEN WHEN THIS HAPPENS I'M IN TRAFFIC. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG. THEY EVEN TOLD ME IT WAS DEALING WITH THE HILL ASSIST BUT I EXPLAINED TO THEM WHEN THIS HAPPENS I'M NOT ON A HILL. MY CHILDREN AND I HAVE ALMOST HAD NUMEROUS WRECKS. I RECENTLY RECEIVED THE RECALL LETTER ABOUT THIS ISSUE (R42) BUT THE LETTER STATES THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX THIS ISSUE AT THIS TIME AND THIS ISSUE CAN CAUSE WRECKS BUT THEY WILL NOT DO A MANUFACTURE BUY BACK. ALSO MY HEAL/COOL AND GAS GAUGE SHAKES THE GAUGE WILL SOME FLUCTUATE UP AND DOWN, I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY IGNORED ME.

THE RPMS INCREASED TO 1,000 AND THE VEHICLE STALLED AND FAILED TO RESTART. THE CONTACT DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY CABLE AND, AFTER WAITING TWENTY MINUTES, THE CABLE WAS RECONNECTED AND THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V542000 (POWER TRAIN); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO PERFORM THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS AT A DRIVE-THRU AND WHEN I WENT TO PULL UP IN LINE MY BRAKES FAILED AND I HAD TO PULL THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS VERY HARD AND WOULD NOT GO DOWN. I PARKED THE CAR AND HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALER. IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER. I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND HAD IT FIXED. I HAD BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE EARLIER. IF IT HAD FAILED THEN, I DO NOT KNOW WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. THIS WAS A VERY SCARY INCIDENT AND I AM CONCERNED THAT THE NEW PART COULD FAIL OR THAT OTHERS COULD HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND NOT BE AS FORTUNATE AS I WAS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE DART. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND SWITCHING GEARS, THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY JERKED BACKWARDS AND THE TRANSMISSION SERVICE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
WE HAVE A DODGE DART, 2013 THAT HAS TWICE LOST ITS TRANSMISSION WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND WILL NOT MOVE, COAST TO A STOP. ONE TIME ON 95 JUST SOUTH OF NEW HAVEN CONN. AND YESTERDAY ON I75 NEAR GAINESVILLE FLA. I THINK THIS NEEDS TO BE CHECKED AND SEE IF SOMEONE IS NOT COVERING THIS UP. IT CREATES A REAL FIASCO WHEN IN THE LEFT LANE IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC AND SUDDENLY LOSE ALL POWER. PEOPLE WILL BE DYING IF THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. THE TRANSMISSION QUITTING TWICE IN 29000 MILES IS NOT JUST HAPPENSTANCE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME. *TR
CLUTCH PEDAL DEPRESSED AND WOULD NOT RETURN TO NORMAL POSITION. PRESSING DOWN ON CLUTCH PEDAL WOULD NOT DISENGAGE THE CLUTCH FROM THE FLYWHEEL SO CONTINUED TO ATTEMPT TO MOVE FORWARD REQUIRING FOOT MORE STRONGLY ON THE BRAKES. THIS WASN'T THE ONLY TIME, AND SEEMS TO OCCUR AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING A FEW HOURS. ITS GETTING FREQUENT ENOUGH THAT I'M GOING TO TRY TO TRADE THE VEHICLE IN. I DON'T TRUST CHRYSLER/DODGE PRODUCTS ANY MORE AND THEIR QUALITY IS GOING DOWN HILL WITH THEIR DRIVE BY WIRE VEHICLES. FOR THE RECORD, 90% OF MY MILEAGE IS ALL HIGHWAY AND I DON'T "POP" THE CLUTCH TO PEAL OUT AT STOP LIGHTS AND THE LIKE. SEARCHES OF THE INTERNET ARE FINDING MORE AND MORE POSTS WITH CLUTCH AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE DART. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR SWITCH FRACTURED ON THE VEHICLE. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THE BLUETOOTH/ HANDS FREE SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING SHORTLY AFTER GETTING CAR. THEY WANT OVER $600 TO REPLACE A BAD MODULE! THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN. RADIO AND GPS WACKY TOO. THIS NEEDS A RECALL.
MY SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER FINALLY GOT FIXED 12,000 MILES AFTER MY ORIGINAL COMPLAINT REGARDING THIS ISSUE TO THE DEALER. I NEED TO BRING IN VIDEO ON MY CELL PHONE OF THE INCIDENT OCCURRING AND COMPLAIN TO DODGE CORPORATE TO GET THE ISSUE RESOLVED IN A TIMELY MANNER.
BATTERY IS FAULTY WHEN IT IS SLIGHTLY CHARGED THE CAR WILL TURN ON AND SEND THE GAUGES FLIPPING OVER TO THE RIGHT AND BACK TO THE LEFT AGAIN WHILE THE ENGINE REEVES. WHEN THE BATTERY IS TOTALLY DEAD THE CAR WONT TURN ON AT ALL. WHEN THE BATTERY IS ALMOST DEAD THE DOORS WILL NOT UNLOCK WITHOUT USING THE KEY AND THEN THAT SETS OFF THE ALARM. *TR
THE TURBO CHARGER ON MY 2013 DODGE DART WAS DISCOVERED AS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED AND THE INSTRUMENT GAUGE CONTAINING THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER AND OTHERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AFTER THEY INTERMITTENTLY WOULD STOP WORKING. THE TURBO IN THE CAR WAS FIXED BUT THE DEALER (WALSER HOPKINS DODGE) FAILED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE REGARDING THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER UNTIL 12,000 MILES LATER.

WHILE PULLED OVER IN A PARKING LOT, I HAD THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED. AS I MOVED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE ENGINE QUITE RAPIDLY REVVED TO THE POINT THAT IT BURIED THE TACHOMETER'S NEEDLE. THIS IS THE SECOND COMPLAINT I HAVE FILED ON THIS PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT TO DEALER THEY SAID IT WAS FIXED AND THAT OBVIOUSLY WAS NOT THE CASE. WENT TO START MY CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START OR TURN OVER. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT STARTED BUT THE CEL WAS ILLUMINATED AND THE LIGHTS ON THE GEAR SHIFT WERE RED. JUST AS LAST TIME THE DEALER HAD NO ANSWERS FOR ME. I STARTED DOING MY ON RESEARCH AND BLOGGING AND SPOKE TO MORE THAN TWO OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAS SAME ISSUE. THEY BOTH ADVISED IT WAS THE TCM. I CALLED AND TOLD MY SERVICE ADVISOR AND HE TOLD ME THAT WAS NOT CORRECT. I THEN PROVIDED HIM WITH AN INVOICE NUMBER AND DEALERSHIP NAME WHERE ONE OF THE PEOPLE TOLD ME THEIR CAR WAS FIXED. WELL, 1ST WEEK THEY ORDERED WRONG PART, 3 WEEK THEY SAID THEY HAD TO REMOVE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AND TODAY (4 WEEKS LATER) THEY SAID THEY FEEL IT IS A CASE OF CUSTOMER ABUSE AND WANT 1500.00 TO REPAIR. I TOLD THEM UP FRONT A CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN LOOKED AT THE ISSUE PRIOR TO ME HAVING PULLED TO THEM AND HE SAID, "THIS IS DEFECTIVE". I HAVE A 2013 DODGE DART RALLYE. I BOUGHT IT USED IN JANUARY 2015. IT HAS THE 1.4 MULTI AIR TURBO WITH 6 SPD MANUAL TRANSMISSION. WHEN STARTING TO SLIDE ON ICE THE ANTI LOCK BREAKS KICKED IN BUT THE ENGINE STALLED FOR A SECOND AND ALL OF THE ELECTRONIC DASH WENT OUT. NO SPEEDOMETER NO STEREO NOTHING WAS ON IT SEEMED BUT WHEN I LET OFF THE BRAKES AND ALLOWED THE CAR TO SLIDE AGAIN EVERYTHING CAME BACK ON.
I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT, WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE CAR IN 1ST GEAR TO GO THE SHIFTER WENT ALL THE WAY TO REVERSE, I DID NOT PULL THE REVERSE SLIDE SELECTOR (NOT SURE WHAT IT IS OFFICIALLY CALLED, NORMALLY YOU HAVE TO PULL UP ON IT TO BE ABLE TO ACCESS REVERSE GEAR). I WAS LUCKY TO REALIZE IT BEFORE I STARTED LETTING OUT THE CLUTCH AS THERE WAS A CAR BEHIND ME. I WAS ABLE TO FIND FIRST GEAR AND START MOVING, I.E. GET OUT OF THE WAY OF THE CARS BEHIND ME. THEN AS I WAS DOWN SHIFTING AT THE NEXT LIGHT I COULDN'T FIND 2ND OR FIRST GEAR, HOWEVER IT WOULD GO INTO REVERSE, AGAIN, WITHOUT PULLING UP THE SLIDE SELECTOR THAT SHOULD STOP THE SHIFTER FROM GOING ALL THE WAY OVER. I GOT THE CAR HOME AND POPPED THE BOOT OFF THE GEAR SHIFT AND THERE IS A CABLE HANGING FREE, IT APPEARS TO BE WHAT SHOULD BE CONTROLLING THE REVERSE GEAR SELECTOR. THE CAR IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, HAD I LET THE CLUTCH OUT I WOULD HAVE HIT THE CAR BEHIND ME. IF YOU ARE DRIVING THE CAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND ATTEMPT TO DOWNSHIFT THE CAR AND END UP IN REVERSE YOU COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, OR WORSE, KILL SOMEONE. WHEN WE ARE DRIVING THE CAR, IT WILL START TO SHUDDER WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND WITHIN A MINUTE THE ABS SYSTEM WILL TURN ON. WHEN THE ABS SYSTEM TURNS ON, YOU CAN ACTUALLY FEEL THE BRAKING TRYING TO STOP THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT ALL DIFFERENT SPEEDS, FROM 20 TO 30 MPH UP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS AT 70 MPH. YOU CANNOT SHUT OF THE ABS SYSTEM WITH THE SAFETY SWITCH WHEN IT TURNS ITSELF ON. WE HAVE PULLED OVER, TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR. THIS DOES NOT ALWAYS SEEM TO WORK. WE HAVE TURNED OFF THE ABS SYSTEM WHEN WE HAVE STARTED THE CAR, BUT THE COMPUTER IN THE ENGINE WILL OVERRIDE THIS AND HAS TURNED IT BACK ON. WHEN THAT HAPPENS, IT STARTS TO TRY BRAKING AGAIN WHILE WE ARE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES TRYING TO GET THIS RESOLVED, BUT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN SOLVING THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP HAS CALLED CHRYSLER TO FIND OUT WHAT TO DO ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THEY WERE TOLD TO CHANGE THE IGNITION COIL POWER PACK, WHICH THEY DID. WHEN THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO US, IT STARTED THIS SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. THE LAST TIME WE TOOK IT IN (APRIL 2015) THE DEALERSHIP KEPT IT FOR TWO WEEKS AND WAS UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM. SINCE THAT TIME IT HAS DONE THIS TO US TWICE, BUT BEFORE WE COULD GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR, IT CORRECTED ITSELF. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM? *TR
