TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE REFUELING THE VEHICLE, FUEL SPEWED OUT OF THE FILLER NECK WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE SEAL FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
PURCHASED 2005 DODGE DURANGO IN DECEMBER 2005 BRAND NEW. HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH GAS OVERFLOWING WHEN FILLING UP VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE WAS PART OF THE RECALL AND PROBLEM WAS FIXED, BUT DAMAGE WAS ALREADY STARTING TO AFFECT PAINT ON THE VEHICLE RIGHT BELOW WHERE YOU FILL THE GAS TANK. THE RUST JUST STARTED BEING MORE VISIBLE THAN IT HAD BEEN OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS. IT SEEMS LIKE WHEN IT RAINS THE RUST IS GETTING WORSE. SINCE THIS PROBLEM STARTED OCCURRING, I HAVE NOTICED SEVERAL DODGE DURANGO VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. IT SEEMS LIKE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL TO FIX THE PAINT ON THE DRIVER SIDE RIGHT BELOW WHERE YOU FILL THE GAS TANK, SINCE THE OVERFLOWING HAS CAUSED THIS PROBLEM. IT IS THE ONLY SPOT ON THE VEHICLE RUSTING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 40 TO 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE DROVE OVER BLACK ICE AND CRASHED INTO A BRIDGE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH MY CAR SWITCHING INTO 4LO. WHEN I UNLOCK MY CAR IT MAKES A CLICKING NOISE UNDER THE CAR LIKE IT IS SWITCHING FROM AWD TO 4LO. ALSO, MY 4LO LIGHT FLASHES ON MY DASH AND IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS TRYING TO SWITCH EVEN THOUGH IT IS LEFT IN AWD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT A MAT SENSOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ALSO ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS PROBABLY CAUSED BY MANY OTHER VARIABLES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 165,000.
I'M CONTACTING YOU IN REGARDS TO MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO. I HAVE ENCOUNTERED IT STALLING MAKING TURNS, DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND AT LIGHTS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AFTER HAVING A TUNE UP ON THE VEHICLE WITH NO SUCCESS. AFTER RESEARCHING, I HAVE FOUND THAT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. I HAVE PRINTED OFF FROM SEVERAL SITES THE COMPLAINTS IDENTICAL TO MINE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY CHRYSLER/DODGE. I HAVE FOUND THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE FINDING THAT THE ISSUE IS THE EGR SYSTEM. THE SAME THING WITH THE AIR BAG ISSUE THAT I'M RECEIVING, I'LL BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND GET AN ALERT THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WAS TURNED OFF WHEN SOMEONE IS IN THE SEAT. THERE IS TWO RECALLS IN PLACE NOW FOR AIR BAG ISSUES. I REALLY HOPE THAT YOU WILL INVESTIGATE THIS AND REACH OUT TO CHRYSLER TO GET THIS RESOLVED FOR CONSUMERS. *TR
UPON FILLING UP THE TANK THE FUEL WILL SPRAY OUT ALL OVER THE PLACE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE BUT IT HAD ALREADY BEEN DONE AND EVEN THOUGH IT FAILED AGAIN IT IS MY PROBLEM. STARTED CAR IN THE MORNING AND IT STARTED TO MAKE ENGINE NOISE. TOOK IT TO DEALER. THEY SAID THE ROD BEARING IS BAD. HAVE TO REPLACE ENGINE. *TR
WHEN YOU FILL THE VEHICLE WITH GAS, THE PUMP WILL NOT SHUT OFF. THIS IS RESULTING IN GASOLINE SPRAYING OUT OF THE OPENING. THIS SPRAYS GAS ALL OVER THE PERSON FILLING THE VEHICLE, DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND.
THE CAR BEGINS TO SPUTTER AND STALL AT CONSTANT SPEEDS, THEN STALLS WHILE RUNNING WHICH DISABLES THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THIS SITUATION IS PROFOUNDLY DANGEROUS AS IT RENDERS THE CAR NEARLY UNABLE TO STOP. THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN STOP IS IF YOU CAN GET THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL, COAST OFF THE ROAD AND QUICKLY RESTART THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE LIGHT DOES COME ON DURING. I HAVE GOTTEN THIS ISSUE REPAIRED FOUR TIMES AND IT CONTINUES TO OCCUR AND THE SENSORS THAT CORRESPOND TO THE CODE HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE EACH AND ARE IN FULL WORKING ORDER. DODGE IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT WILL NOT DO ANYTHING. *TR
WHEN I FILL MY GAS TANK I GET A VERY STRONG GAS SMELL, THE CAB FILL WITH GAS FUMES. YOU CAN ONLY SMELL GAS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE I BROUGHT IT IN 3 TIMES TO BE LOOKED AT BUT NOT ISSUES CAN BE FOUND. THE ODOMETER SAYS "GAS CAP" BUT THE DEALER FINDS NO CODE ISSUES. THERE IS CLEARLY A ISSUE WITH MY DURANGO BUT NO ONE IS WILLING TO HELP ME WITH IT!! DODGE SAID THAT MY DURANGO IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL NOTICE AND THEY ARE MORE THAN WILLING TO HOOK IT UP TO THERE COMPUTER FOR $100.00 BUCKS! I HAVE HAD THIS DURANGO SINCE 12/2212 AND HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH THE PRIVATE DEALER THAT SOLD IT TO ME HE IS NOT ABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. MY GAS TANK HAS OVERFLOWED TWICE SINCE DECEMBER 22ND WHEN I WAS FUELING THE VEHICLE . WHILE FUELING THE GAS CAME POURING OUT WHERE YOU FILL IT . I HAVE READ THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY INFO ON THIS NOR DO I KNOW IF IT WAS EVER ADDRESSED I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS. THE MECHANISM ON THE SEATBELTS THAT LOCKS THE SEATBELT DURING A SUDDEN STOP OR CRASH IS MADE OF PLASTIC. THEY BREAK EASILY ESPECIALLY AFTER A FEW YEARS OF USE. THERE ARE 7 SEAT BELTS IN MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THREE OF THEM BROKEN IN THIS FASHION. I CONTACTED DODGE WHO REFUSED TO ASSIST ME IN HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. *TR
AT VARIOUS TIMES FOR NO PARTICULAR REASON, THE VEHICLE SWITCHES IN AND OUT OF 4-WHEEL HIGH AND LOW. THE ISSUE BEGAN WITH IT OFF, THERE WAS A AUDIBLE MECHANICAL SHIFTING COMING FROM WHAT APPEARED TO BE THE TRANSFER CASE. AFTER THAT THE ISSUE BEGAN GETTING WORSE AND WORSE, SEVERAL MECHANICS HAVE LOOKED AT IT AND WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. RECENTLY, THE VEHICLE HAS BEGUN SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL AT 45 MPH+, AT THAT POINT A LOUD METAL GRINDING SOUND BEGINS AND DOES NOT STOP UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS SLOWED TO < 25 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE SLAMS INTO GEAR, WHICH IS USUALLY 4 WHEEL LOW. THE VEHICLE WILL NO LONGER SHIFT INTO ANY CHOSEN MODE, IT CHOOSES ITS OWN MODE AT RANDOM. AT TIMES IF THE VEHICLE IS STUCK IN 4 WHEEL LOW PUTTING IT INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN INTO REVERSE CAN HELP TO SWITCH THE VEHICLE BACK INTO AWD OR AT LEASE 4 WHEEL HIGH. *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL THE GAS TANK, THE GASOLINE SPIT OUT AT THE END OF FILLING. *TR
I JUST PURCHASED THE 2005 DODGE DURANGO LIMITED ON DECEMBER 11TH, 2012, I FILLED UP THE GAS TANK ALL THE WAY ON THE MORNING OF FRIDAY, DECEMBER 14TH, 2012, THE PUMP CLICKED OFF, AND GAS SPRAYED EVERYWHERE. DODGE WILL NOT HELP ME, NEITHER WILL ANY OMAHA DODGE DEALER. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A VEHICLE THAT SPRAYED GASOLINE EVERYWHERE WHEN PUMPING GAS, THIS IS DEFINITELY A MANUFACTURE DEFECT THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED AT THE PLANT. RECENTLY PURCHASED USED VEHICLE. EVERY TIME YOU FILL UP THE FUEL TANK, WHEN THE PUMP AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS OFF FUEL SPRAYS PAST THE NOZZLES VAPOR RECOVERY BOOT AND OUT OF THE FUEL FILLER NECK. THIS IS VAPORIZED/ATOMIZED GASOLINE, WHICH LEADS TO AN EXTREME FIRE HAZARD. I NOTIFIED DODGE OF THIS SITUATION, BUT THEY RESPONDED ONLY BY SAYING THAT THERE ARE NO OPEN RECALLS OR CAMPAIGNS REGARDING MY VEHICLE. *TR
I PURCHASED A USED 2005 DODGE DURANGO AND RECENTLY IN DECEMBER 2012 IT STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WHEN TRYING TO PUT GAS IN IT. THE GAS PUMP CLICKS OFF AND THE THE GAS STARTS TO SPEW BACK OUT NOT ONLY DOES IT GO ON THE CAR IT ACTUALLY EVEN REACHES YOU. THERE HAS BEEN RECALLS FOR THIS YEAR DURANGO BUT I WAS TOLD MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT COVERED. SINCE THIS PROBLEM I HAVE BEEN DOING SOME RESEARCH AND HAVE FOUND OUT THAT OVER 3,000 PEOPLE ALSO HAVE COMPLAINED. I BELIEVE THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND THEY SAY IT CAN CAUSE A FIRE. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THE NHTSA WOULD NOT RECOGNIZE AND DEMAND THERE BE MORE RECALLS DONE AND HONORED FREE OF CHARGE. A LIFE IS A LIFE AND CANT BELIEVE ANYONE WOULD TAKE A CHANCE WITH IT. *TR
THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS AND IT SEEMS THAT NO ONE IS WILLING TO TAKE OWNERSHIP FOR A FAULTY SYSTEM THAT IS OBVIOUSLY DANGEROUS. WHAT I FOUND TO BE ABSURD IS HOW MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE POSTED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE, RECALLS HAVE BEEN MADE FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND STILL NO ACTION. I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO AND EACH AND EVERY TIME I FILL MY TANK THE PUMP WILL STOP BUT AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF GAS WILL OVERFLOW. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS MUST BE ENTERED BEFORE SOMEONE TAKES ACTION OR ARE MANUFACTURERS WAITING FOR A CATASTROPHIC MISHAP TO GET THEIR ATTENTION. FUMES COULD EASILY GET UNDER THE VEHICLE, AND FIND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND IGNITE. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE, THE TIME IS NOW. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY! *TR
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

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED FOR THE FAILURE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) IN 2005. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE RECURRING FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
THE VEHICLE WILL AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGE ITSELF INTO 4-WHEEL DRIVE MODE. THE INCIDENTS USUALLY HAPPEN AT LOW SPEEDS. ALTHOUGH, THE INCIDENT CAN, HAS, AND WILL HAPPEN AT HIGHER SPEEDS. WHEN IT OCCURS AT LOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE SLOWLY AND REFUSE TO TURN. WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENS AT HIGHER SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WILL SEEMINGLY LOCK THE TIRES AND IF NOT HANDLED CORRECTLY THE DRIVER CAN LOSE COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE SUV. THIS PARTICULAR DEFECT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE AMONG DODGE DURANGO 2ND GENERATION OWNERS. MANY SAY THE DODGE DEALERSHIPS ARE SKEPTICAL ON WHAT EXACT REPAIR IS NECESSARY TO FIX THE APPARENT SAFETY ISSUE. DURANGO OWNERS EXPERIENCES WITH TECHNICIANS SHOW MANY TIMES THEY REPORTEDLY POINT THE FINGER AT VARIOUS HIGH DOLLAR REPAIRS. SOME HAVE HAD SUCCESS WITH REPLACING THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR BUT SOME WHO HAVE PURSUED THIS REPAIR HAVE AGAIN REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE AFTER THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETED. ORIGINALLY, THE SAFETY CONCERN WAS EXTREMELY RARE. RECENTLY, THE PROBLEM HAS BECOME MORE CONSISTENT. IT IS A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD AS IT CAN CAUSE COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE LARGE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND COMPLETING A RIGHT TURN, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES AND ALWAYS WHEN THE CONTACT WAS ATTEMPTING A TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
WHILE FUELING VEHICLE, THE GAS TANK WILL OVERFLOW AND SPRAY FUEL ALL OVER THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, AND ON PERSON IF CLOSE. WHEN PUMP KICKS OFF, THE FUEL WILL OVERFLOW FROM FILLER NECK. *TR
UPON FUELING GAS TANK UNTIL FILL, GAS TANK SPEWS GASOLINE OUT OF FILLER TUBE. TOOK IT IN TO INSPECTION, AND WAS REJECTED, DUE TO SLIGHT EMISSIONS LEAK. FAILED INSPECTION. TOOK TO DIAGNOSTICS CENTER AND HAD SMOKE TEST. RESULTED IN A SLIGHT LEAK THAT CAN NOT BE FOUND. ADVISED TO HAVE TOTAL FUEL TANK AND REFILL ASSEMBLY REPLACED AT $700 +. CALLED CHRYSLER RECALL HOTLINE, AND VIN DID NOT MATCH FOR POTENTIAL RECALL POTENTIAL. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE FROM WORK, OIL LIGHT COME ON. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND CHECKED THE OIL. THE LEVEL ON THE DIPSTICK WAS IN THE SAFE ZONE. I THEN HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC THAT TOLD METH THE MOTOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I NEVER HAD ANY OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE DURANGO UNTIL THEN. OIL WAS ALWAYS CHANGED AT 3,000 MILES. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THERE IS SLUDGE BUILD UP BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN/ANGLE OF THE PORTS THAT DOESN'T ALLOW THE OIL TO MOVE FREELY. APPARENTLY IS THIS AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS, NO ONE HAS THE MONEY TO PUT ALMOST $4,000 INANOTHER ENGINE. *TR
REASON FOR FILING A VEHICLE SAFETY COMPLAINT IS AS FOLLOWS; EVERY TIME I HAVE TRIED TO FILL-UP MY GAS TANK ON MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO, THE GAS NOT ONLY STARTS TO SHOOT OUT OF THE TANK ITSELF, BUT ALSO ALL OVER MY TRUCK, MYSELF AND ALL OVER THE FLOOR. THE SECURITY DODGE DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED IS INSISTING THERE IS NO SUCH RECALL FOR THIS SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS ISSUE. THE CAR BEGINS TO SPUTTER AND STALL AT CONSTANT SPEEDS, THEN STALLS WHILE RUNNING WHICH DISABLES THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DODGE DEALER AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO THEM. THEY CHECKED MY VIN # WITH RECALL NOTICES REGARDING THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. THERE WAS A RECALL ID # 54823 WHICH AFFECTED 26,000 VEHICLES, BUT APPARENTLY NOT MY VIN #. I THEN CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORPORATION. THEY ALSO SAID THAT MY VIN # DID NOT HAVE A RECALL NOTICE ON THE FUEL SYSTEM. RECALL ID # 54823 STATES "THE FUEL TANK FILLER TUBE INLET CHECK VALVE MAY NOT FULLY CLOSE AT THE END OF REFUELING. THIS COULD ALLOW SOME FUEL TO ESCAPE FROM THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE FILLER NECK AT THE END OF REFUELING."
