TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE, FUEL SPEWED OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
BEFORE GAS NOZZLE CLICKS OFF. GAS SPRAYS BACK OUT THE TANK AND GOES ALL OVER PERSON, CAR, AND GROUND. AFTER THE SPRAY OF GAS THE NOZZLE WILL CLICK OFF
MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO HAS A SERIOUS MALFUNCTION WHICH CAUSES EXCESSIVE GASOLINE TO SPEW FROM THE VEHICLE DURING FILLING. THIS OCCURS AT EVERY FILL UP OF THE VEHICLE AND IS VERY DIFFICULT TO PREVENT, EVEN ONCE I BECAME AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE GASOLINE EXIST THE VEHICLE WITH CONSIDERABLE FORCE THE AMOUNT CAN VARY BUT IS TYPICALLY EQUIVALENT TO ~20 FL OZ. NOT ONLY IS THIS A OBVIOUS FIRE/EXPLOSION RISK, BUT IS ALSO A HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL RISK AS THE GASOLINE OFTEN MAKES CONTACT WITH CLOTHES AND SKIN DURING REFUELING. I NOTIFIED DODGE OF THIS ISSUE WAS GIVEN A CASE # HOWEVER WAS NOTIFIED THAT DODGE DOES NOT CONSIDER THIS AN ISSUE AND WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE UNLESS IT IS A RECALL. THERE IS A VERY WELL DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE FROM THE INTERNET TO SUPPORT THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE AND THAT MANY OTHER DURANGO OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUEL SPILLED OUT FROM THE FILLER NECK WHILE REFUELING. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOTIFIED AND BOTH STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 118,000. UPDATED 07/10/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED A DANGEROUS AMOUNT OF FUEL SPRAYED OUT FROM AROUND THE FUEL FILLER NOZZLE TWO TO THREE FEET IN A CONICAL SPRAY PATTERN AT EVERY FILL-UP AND CAME IN CONTACT WITH HIS SKIN, CLOTHES, FUEL PUMP AND OTHER SURROUNDING AREAS ON THE GROUND CREATING A VERY SERIOUS HEALTH AND FIRE HAZARD. 4X4 LOCKS UP WHEN TURNING END RESULT BROKE MY TRANSFER CASE. *TR
I WAS IN NYC LAST WEEK. I WAS MAKING A TURN IN THE CITY THE TRUCK CUT OFF. A TRACTOR TRAILER AND SEVERAL CARS WERE BEHIND ME. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RE-START IT. HOWEVER, IF SOMEONE BEHIND WAS NOT PAYING ATTENTION THAT ACCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN TERRIBLE. PRIOR TO THAT I WAS DRIVING ON THE FDR AND TRUCK CUT OFF ON ME AGAIN, WHILE IN TRAFFIC. AGAIN I HAD TO PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND START IT UP AGAIN. I KNOW GOOD AND WELL CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE I SEE TOO MANY DURANGO OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) IN 2005. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE RECENT FAILURE. MY TRANSFER CASE WILL SHIFT FROM AWD TO 4LO WITH NO WARNING. MY TRANSFER CASE ALSO SHIFTS INTO 4WD, WHEN I SHOULD BE IN AWD. THESE SHIFTS HAPPEN FREQUENTLY AND AT ANY SPEED. *TR

UPON RE-FUELING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL TANK FILLER TUBE INLET CHECK VALVE WOULD NOT FULLY CLOSE OR THE FILLER NECK MAY HAVE FRACTURED AND CAUSED A LEAKAGE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CONTACT WAS TO RE-FUEL THE VEHICLE TO TEST THE FAILURE, AND THAT THE CONTACT DID NOT COMPLY WITH WHAT THE DEALER STATED. THE DEALER PERFORMED A SMOKE TEST, BUT FOUND NO FAILURE. THE DEALER REFUSED TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO ANOTHER DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V313000 (AIR BAGS). THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AFTER BEING SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE THROTTLE CONTROL SENSOR HAD FAILED. THE CONTACT PERSONALLY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHILE FILLING UP THE GAS TANK, GAS SPRAYED OUT ONCE THE TANK HIT FULL. I CALLED DODGE DUE TO THE FACT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS EXACT INCIDENT WITH THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL. I WAS INFORMED THAT MY VIN WAS NOT ONE OF THOSE THAT WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. BUT I WAS OFFERED TO GO AHEAD AND PAY FOR THE REPAIR AND THEN CALL THEM BACK AND THEY WOULD GIVE ME A CHRYSLER ADDRESS I COULD SEND A COPY OF THE ORIGINAL FORM OF PAYMENT AND THE DETAILED BILL AND THEY MIGHT REIMBURSE ME FOR MY EXPENSE. *TR
WHEN THE GAS TANK IS BEING FILLED THERE IS NO LONGER A SHUT OFF THAT OCCURS THUS GAS OVERFLOWS ON CAR, PERSON AND GAS STATION FLOOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH. THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURRED WHEN DRIVING AT LOWER SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE AND A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED THAT WAS UNABLE TO GENERATE A FAILURE CODE. THE SPARK PLUGS, WIRES AND FILTER WERE REPLACED HOWEVER THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL WHEN THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT LOWER SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
VEHICLE ENGAGES AND DISENGAGES INTO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ON ITS OWN. WILL ENGAGE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS ON FREEWAY, WHILE VEHICLE IS OFF AND WHEN UNLOCKING DOORS WITH KEY FOB. STEREO CHANGES STATIONS AND VOLUME ADJUSTS ON ITS OWN. HAVE UNHOOKED TRANSFER CASE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE CONTACT DISCONNECTED AND RECONNECTED THE BATTERY IN ORDER TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED CONSTANTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTICS BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM: GASOLINE: STORAGE TANK: ASSEMBLY) FOR THE INLET CHECK VALVE, BUT WAS TOLD BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
WHEN PUTTING FUEL IN THE GAS TANK, ONCE IT FILL UP IT SHOOTS GAS OUT. NOT A LITTLE GAS EITHER, ALOT OF GAS. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS. THEY HAD A RECALL ON THE 2006 THROUGH 2008 DURANGOS BUT NOT THE 2005. THE RECALL WAS FOR CHECK VALVE IN THE GAS TANK. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I CAN'T BELIEVE THE WOULDN'T WANT TO FIX THIS BEFORE SOMEONE REALLY GETS HURT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE, COMING TO A STOP, OR TURNING LEFT AT SLOW SPEEDS 0-5 MPH MY ENGINE STALL WITHOUT WARNING. NO LIGHTS LIGHT UP ON THE DASH TO INDICATE A PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT RPMS FLUCTUATE (INCREASE/DECREASE) WHILE MY FOOT IS OFF THE GAS PEDAL. THIS IS A DAILY OCCURRENCE. I FIRST THOUGHT THAT I HAD BAD FUEL AND PUT AN FUEL ADDITIVE IN THE TANK TO HOPEFULLY RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE PROBLEM CONTINUED, I REPLACED THE AIR FILTER, BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. I AM NOW GOING TO REPLACE THE EGR, BUT I HAVE SEEN THAT OTHERS HAVE DONE SO WITHOUT ANY SUCCESS IN RESOLVING THE PROBLEM. BASED ON THE NOTICES PLACED HERE AND AT VARIOUS OTHER WEB-SITES FOR SEVERAL YEARS RUNNING, IT APPEARS THAT DODGE DOES NOT HAVE ANY PROCEDURES IN PLACE TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRANSPORTING MY GRAND KIDS, AND LACROSSE PLAYERS TO AND FROM VARIOUS EVENTS. IF DODGE DOES NOT RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM, AND I OR SOMEONE I AM TRANSPORTING IS INJURED OR KILLED IN A ACCIDENT BASED ON THE ABOVE MENTIONED VEHICLE MALFUNCTION, DODGE WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. *TR

AFTER I BOUGHT MY DURANGO USED, I BROUGHT IT TO FILL UP THE GAS TANK. I FILLED UP THE TANK, JUST BEFORE THE GAS PUMP SHUT OFF, THERE WAS ABOUT 1/2 GALLON OF GAS THAT SHOT OUT THE GAS FILLER HOSE AT ME- I THOUGHT IT WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE FUEL PUMP AT THE GAS STATION AND TOLD THE GAS STATION ATTENDANT. ABOUT ONE MONTH AGO I FILLED MY FUEL TANK AGAIN, AND AGAIN THE FUEL LITERALLY SHOT OUT OF THE FILLER SPOUT AT ME. I THOUGHT THIS TIME IT WASN'T A COINCIDENCE SINCE IT WAS AT A DIFFERENT GAS STATION. I STARTED SEARCHING AND FOUND THERE ARE MANY DURANGO OWNERS WITH THIS SAME DANGEROUS ISSUE. APPARENTLY, DODGE HAS AGREED TO FIX 2006-2008 VEHICLES, BUT THE 2005'S AREN'T COVERED. THIS IS REDICULOUS, DOES SOMEONE'S CAR HAVE TO CATCH ON FIRE FOR DODGE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY? *TT

I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO 5.7 WE HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE FUEL TANKS WHEN I GO TO FILL UP IT SPEWS GAS BACK OUT AT ME. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED ABOUT 3 YRS AGO CONTACTED DODGE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MINE IS NOT A PART OF THE 2 RECALLS THAT THEY HAVE WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE SO IT WAS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN TO THEM. WE HAD THE ORIGINAL TANK REPLACED WITHIN A FEW MTHS AND HAD TO TAKE IT BACK IMMEDIATELY FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. AFTER THAT IT WORKED WELL FOR THE PAST 2.5 YRS AND NOW I'M HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH THE TANK AGAIN. I BOUGHT THIS NEEDED A BIG VEHICLE FOR MY FAMILY. WHEN I FILL UP THE GAS ON MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO THE GAS COMES SPRAYING OUT THE FILLER HOSE ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK AND AT ONE TIME THE GAS SPRAYED ON MY CLOTHING ALSO. IN ADDITION, THE SEAT BELT SENSOR ALARM SOUNDED AND THE BRAKE AND OIL WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 96,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

AFTER OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS AT THE DEALERS AND SEVERAL HUNDRED MORE AT THE OTHER TWO PLACES TO THIS DAY IT STILL CUTS OUT AND STALLS OUT WHEN I AM DRIVING IT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 176,000.
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK (AT ANY STATION) THE CHECK VALVE ENGAGES TOO EARLY CAUSING FUEL TO SHOOT OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE. SUPPOSEDLY THIS WAS FIXED BUT EITHER A FAULTY ONE WAS INSTALLED OR THE WORK WAS NEVER DONE (PREVIOUS OWNER). VEHICLE WAS ALSO SUPPOSEDLY NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL BASED ON THE VIN BUT MATCHED THE MANUFACTURE DATE BUT NOT SERIAL NUMBER. NO ONE HAS AN ANSWER WHY IT IS STILL DOING THIS?
FUEL GUSHES OUT OF THE GAS TANK WHEN FILLING UP WITH GAS. ABOUT ONE OR TWO SECONDS AFTER THE FUEL NOZZLE AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS OFF BECAUSE THE TANK IS FULL, FUEL WILL GUSH OUT OF THE TANK FOR ABOUT ANOTHER ONE TO TWO SECONDS. I BELIEVE THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD AND A GENERAL SAFETY CONCERN. THE DODGE DEALER TELLS ME IT'S A STUCK ROLL OVER VALVE AND NOT UNDER WARANTY OR COVERED IN A RECALL. *TT

UPON FUELING MY VEHICLE UP ON A REGULAR BASIS; THE FUEL PUMP WILL SHUT OFF AT TIME OF FILL UP, BUT THEN A BACKLASH OF FUEL OCCURS TO BE BACKING UP IN THE FUEL PIPE AND SPRAYING/GUSHING OUT ALL OVER MY VEHICLE. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS AND PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS PERTAINING TO THIS ISSUE. GAS HAS STARTED OVERFLOWING/SPRAYING OUT WHEN FILLING UP. PUMP STOPS AND SECONDS LATER IT HAPPENS. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED IT SPRAYED SOME FUEL ON ONE OF MY BOYS WHO WAS STANDING BY ME. THANKFULLY, IT DIDN'T GET IN HIS EYE. I FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS THE PUMP BUT SINCE REALIZED ITS THE VEHICLE. THIS SEEMS TO BE FAIRLY COMMON ISSUE AND I HAVE SEEN THE TWO RECALLS ON THIS DUE TO THE TANKS INLET CHECK VALVES NOT SHUTTING PROPERLY. THE RECALLS COVER VEHICLES MADE THROUGH NOV. 04. MY DURANGO WAS MADE DEC 04 SO DODGE WON'T TOUCH IT. *TR
GAS OVERFLOWS AND EJECTS WHEN FUELING. WHEN THE AUTO SHUT-OFF OF THE GAS PUMP NOZZLE TRIGGERS, A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF FUEL IS EXPELLED FROM THE FILLER AREA OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A REPORTED ISSUE COVERING MANY MAKES AND MODEL YEARS OF DODGE VEHICLES. WHEN CONTACTING A DODGE REPRESENTATIVE, SHE INDICATED THAT THE WARRANTY HAS NOT BEEN EXTENDED OR DOES NOT COVER MY VIN#. SHE ALSO INDICATED THAT EACH CALL IS TRACKED AND WHEN A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF CALLS/PROBLEM REPORTS ARE OBTAINED, THEY WOULD CONSIDER THE RE-EVALUATION OF THIS ISSUE. *TR
I HAD MY 2005 DURANGO INTO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP DUE TO FUEL SHOOTING OUT OF MY GAS TANK WHEN I FILLED IT UP WITH GAS. I WAS TOLD AFTER DIAGNOSTIC TESTS THAT IT WAS A FAULTY INLET CHECK VALVE AND THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS QUOTED $1200 TO HAVE THE TANK REPLACED. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE TANK REPLACEMENT. AFTER MUCH ONLINE RESEARCH, I SEE THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE ON DODGE/CHRYSLER VEHICLES FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT MY '05 DURANGO VIN DIDN'T FALL UNDER THE 2005 AND 2009 RECALL, BUT THAT OTHER VEHICLES WERE LATER ADDED TO THE 2009 RECALL. THIS IS MY MAIN SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION. I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND FEEL THIS IS SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THEREFORE, THEY SHOULD BE THE ONES TO FIX IT AT NO CHARGE TO ME.
