ALARM/KEY FOB FAILS TO ACTIVATE DUE TO DEFECT IN SOLDERING OF BATTERY HOLDER TO CIRCUIT BOARD. FOUND MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM. THE BATTERY HOLDER IN 2004-2006 DODGE KEYS COMES APART FROM THE CIRCUIT BOARD, MAKING THE KEY NOT WORK, AND STRANDING YOU WHERE EVER YOU HAPPEN TO BE. WHEN YOU OPEN THE KEY, YOU SEE THE BATTERY HOLDER OUT OF WHERE IT WAS ATTACHED TO THE 'MOTHERBOARD', AND CAN PUSH IT BACK IN AND MAKE THE KEY WORK, BUT IT'S ONLY A TEMP FIX AS IT KEEPS COMING APART. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER HE ADDED FUEL TO THE VEHICLE THE TANK WOULD OVERFLOW AND FUEL WOULD SPILL ON THE GROUND. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE GAS CAP LIGHT WOULD BOTH ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALLS 05V034000 AND 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO GAVE HIM A CASE NUMBER BUT HE WAS STILL AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,320. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,500.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO TESTED THE BATTERY AND THE ALTERNATOR, BUT COULD NOT LOCATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WILL BE CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 118,000.

THE FAILURE BEGAN AS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE BUT SOON PROGRESSED TO THE POINT WHERE THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE CONTACT WAS REFUELING THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THE CAR (DODGE DURANGO 05) TOTALLY DIES AT ANY RANDOM TIME, THE STEERING LOCKS AND EVERYTHING SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH OR TWO WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AND IN TOWN. I WAS LUCKY NOT TO GET HIT LAST WEEK FROM BEHIND..I JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR TO WARN TRAFFIC COMING OFF A HILL TOWARDS MY DEAD CAR, THAT I WAS DISTRESSED AND TO GO AROUND.....WE PURCHASED THIS CAR 3 1/2 MONTHS AGO. TOOK TO THE DODGE DEALER AND HAD THEM GO THRU IT AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY THING WRONG. THEY CHECKED THE COMPUTER AND DROVE IT...I CAN NO LONGER FEELS SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR. *TR
THE TRUCK LOSES ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING AND STALLS. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY GIVEN TIME IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS, LOW TRAFFIC AREAS AND AT ALL SPEEDS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON. THE DEALER STATES THAT IT IS THE EGR VALVE. THIS APPEARS TO BE VERY COMMON WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER INSPECTED NOR REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO TOOK A COMPLAINT AND ADVISED HER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED BY A LOCAL DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 113,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 111,000.
2005 DODGE DURANGO: STARTING AT ABOUT 80,000 MILES, OR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, WHENEVER WE TOPPED OFF THE FUEL TANK, GASOLINE WOULD SPURT BACK UP OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE AT THE END OF THE FILL WHEN THE PUMP KICKED OFF. THIS IS STILL HAPPENING EVERY TIME WE FILL UP THE TANK. FILLING UP OUR OTHER VEHICLE AT THE SAME PUMP DOES NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. VEHICLE PURCHASED USED IN JUNE 2010. WITHIN DAYS OF PURCHASE, VEHICLE BEGAN STALLING WHILE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES. EGR VALVE WAS REPLACED AND THROTTLE SERVICE DONE, IDLER PULLEY REPLACED. STALLING PROBLEM CONTINUED TO OCCUR ON AND OFF ALONG WITH HARD SHIFTING, HESITATING, LACK OF POWER ISSUES. TRANSMISSION REBUILT IN JAN 2012 AFTER IT "FROZE" BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. BELL HOUSING LEAK DETECTED AND FIXED IN JUNE 2012. STALLING WORSENED, OCCURRING NOT ONLY FROM START UP BUT WHILE TRAVELING STRAIGHT IN ACCELERATION TO SPEEDS JUST ABOVE 40 MPH. REVVING IN PARK, NEUTRAL AND WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC STARTED IN EARLY 2013 AND CONTINUES TODAY. HAVE HAD VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WITH NO FIX TO THE PROBLEM. TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH, WATER PUMP, FUEL INJECTOR, COIL, VACUUM SENSOR, AIR INTAKE SENSOR, KNOCK SENSOR, PCV VALVE, PLUGS AND WIRES HAVE ALL BEEN REPLACED OR REPAIRED BUT PROBLEMS PERSIST. THIS VEHICLE IS A DANGER AS IT STALLS WITHOUT WARNING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND REVS SO HIGH AT STOPS THAT I HAVE HAD TO PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE TO PREVENT IT FROM LURCHING INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. *TR

MY 2005 DODGE DURANGOS FUEL TANK SPEWS FUEL ALL OVER THE PLACE WHEN I AM FINISHING A FILL UP. THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME THAT I FILL MY TANK FULL. I SEE THAT A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR 2005 DODGE DURANGOS FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM, BUT THE RECALL DOESN'T INCLUDE MY VIN. IF A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM IT SHOULD TAKE CARE OF EVERY AFFECTED VEHICLE. IT IS NOT SAFE AT ALL! *TR
ANY TIME I FILL MY GAS TANK UP ON MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO WHEN THE TANK GETS CLOSE TO FULL THE FUEL DOESN'T STOP AND IT SPILLS ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK GROUND AND MYSELF. I T HAS HAPPENED AT MULTIPLE GAS STATIONS SO I HAVE ELIMINATED THE POSSIBILITY THAT IT IS THE PUMP. GAS STATION ATTENDANTS GET UPSET WHENEVER YOU SPILL GASOLINE BECAUSE OF THE CLEANUP PROCEDURE AND I AM ALSO UPSET AS IT'S GAS I HAVE PAID FOR BUT CAN'T USE. THE DEALER TELLS ME MY VEHICLE FALLS OUTSIDE OF THE RECALL H-45 AND THE COST TO REPLACE THE TANK IS IN EXCESS OF $650.00. *TR

I OWN A 2005 DODGE DURANGO VIN [XXX]. WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE, FUEL OVER FLOWS ONTO THE VEHICLE AND GROUND AT THE END OF THE FUELING PROCESS EVERY TIME YOU FILL THE TANK. MY RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED SERVICE STATION AND PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE WITHOUT REIMBURSEMENT. IN ADDITION, THEY WOULD NOT GUARANTEE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR, ONLY THE POSSIBILITY OF HELPING WITH PAYMENT. FELT THIS WAS UNSATISFACTORY DUE TO DODGE ALREADY RECALLING SOME 2005 DODGE DURANGOS AND THE APPARENT CONTINUATION OF THIS PROBLEM OUTSIDE OF THE ACCEPTABLE VIN NUMBER RANGE. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I AM UNABLE TO FILL THE FUEL TANK WITH GASOLINE AND COULD ONLY REFUEL WITH SMALL AMOUNTS OF GASOLINE AT A TIME. IN MARCH I HAD MY 2005 DURANGO IN FOR THE 2 RECALLS AND ADDITIONAL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WAS DONE AT THAT TIME AS WELL. IT HAS 55,000 MILES ON IT. THIS PAST SATURDAY, IT STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND WITHOUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. I WAS ABLE TO START IT BACK UP. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC. HE RAN A DIAGNOSTIC SCAN AS WELL AS DROVE IT, AND NOTHING AT ALL SHOWED UP. I AM VERY FEARFUL TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE OF ITS SUDDEN STALLS. I SEE ONLINE THAT THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE AND WOULD LIKE FOR CHRYSLER DODGE TO ADDRESS THIS SITUATION IMMEDIATELY. *TR

THERE WAS AN ESTIMATION OF A HALF GALLON OF FUEL LOSS. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESUME OPERATION NORMALLY. THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL DEFECT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,700.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING; HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETECT A TROUBLE CODE. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. IN ADDITION, WHENEVER REFUELING THE VEHICLE TO ITS FUEL CAPACITY LEVEL THE AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF FEATURE FAILED TO ENGAGE CAUSING FUEL TO SPEW ONTO THE GROUND. I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO WHICH I BOUGHT NEW. ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO, IT STARTED SPILLING FUEL OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE EVERYTIME I FILL IT. THE GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF BUT A GREAT DEAL OF FUEL SPRAYS OUT ALL OVER EVERYTHING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID ALTHOUGH SOME 2005 DURANGOS WERE COVERED UNDER RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM, MINE WASN'T. HE SUGGESTED I FILL THE TANK SLOWER. NOW I KNOW WHY THIS DEALER ISN'T A 5-STAR DEALER. THE DEALER I PURCHASED THE DURANGO WAS ELIMINATED WHEN DODGE DOWNSIZED. *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY GAS TANK USING THE AUTO FILL AT THE GAS STATION, WHENEVER THE NOZZLE SHUTS OFF GAS SHOOTS OUT. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL UP. I WENT ONLINE AND LOOKED UP THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE FOUND MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND THAT A RECALL WAS EVEN ISSUED. ARMED WITH THIS INFORMATION I WENT TO MY LOCAL DEALER. I WAS THEN INFORMED THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED MAR 05. I WILL ALSO BE CALLING CHRYSLER AND COMPLAINING TO THEM. I FEEL THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO SINCE MULTIPLE YEARS AND EVEN 05 CARS ON COVERED IN THE RECALL ARE SUFFERING FROM THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 05 DURANGO WITH THE 5.7 HEMI V8 HAD NO PROBLEMS THEN A FEW MONTHS WENT BY AN STARTED TO NOTICE THE STALLING PROBLEM TOOK IT TO SHOPS NO PROBLEMS SO I WENT ONLINE TO FURTHER INVESTIGATE AND I FOUND SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WELL TODAY DREW THE STRAW WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE 75MPH AN THE [XXX] THING SHUT OFF NO POWER NO STEERING NO NOTHING HAD MY KIDS IN THE BACK SEAT AS WELL... WHEN IS THIS COMPANY GOING TO REALIZE THEY HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM SOMEWHERE THAT IS VERY VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IF IT SHUTS OFF WITH NO NOTICE AND HAS NO POWER TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN AN GET OUT OF HARMS WAY... AND OF COURSE IT CRANKS RIGHT BACK UP BUT THEN SHUTS OFF AGAIN HAPPENS SOMETIMES THEN WEEKS MONTHS CAN GO BY AND IT JUST DOES IT AGAIN. WHENEVER I AM STOPPED OR IDLING, MY CAR WILL SHUT OFF BY ITSELF. THE RPM GAUGE WILL JUMP UP AND DOWN AND THE ENGINE WILL REV BY ITSELF, WHILE MY FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE. THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WILL FLICKER, THEN THE CAR SHUTS OFF. THE INTERIOR ELECTRICAL IS OFF BUT THE RUNNING/OUTSIDE LIGHTS ARE STILL ON. THE STEERING TIGHTENS UP,BUT THE BRAKES WORK. THE CAR IS ABLE TO BE PUT IN PARK, SHUT OFF AND STARTED RIGHT BACK UP, SO FAR. IT NORMALLY ONLY HAPPENS WHEN GOING AT SLOWER SPEEDS, OR STOPPING AND BEING IDLE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A FEW MONTHS, NORMALLY ONCE A WEEK, BUT THIS PAST WEEKEND IT HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES. WE NOW DON'T LEAVE TOWN WITH THIS VEHICLE AND I AM ACTUALLY SCARED TO DRIVE IT JUST AROUND TOWN. I HAVE KIDS AND DON'T WANT SOMETHING TO HAPPEN WHILE IM DRIVING AT ACCELERATED SPEED. I WOULD HAVE TO TRY AND COAST TO A STOP WITHOUT BEING INVOLVED IN OR CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE DURANGO WOULD THEN RESTART AND RUN FINE. THIS HAS BEEN INCREASING IN FREQUENCY OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS WITH IT OCCURING TWICE YESTERDAY, MARCH 29,2010. THIS IS BECOMING A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND WILL UNDOUBTEDLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IT HAS OCCURED WHILE TURNING, SLOWING DOWN FOR TRAFFIC, AND WHILE ACCELERATING THROUGH AN INTERESCTION. MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO HAS A PROBLEM WHERE ABOUT 3-6 CUPS OF FUEL COMES SPEWING FROM THE FILLER HOLE WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS FILLED. THIS "SPEWING" OCCURS JUST AFTER THE FUEL NOZZLE "CLICKS" OFF SIGNIFYING THAT THE TANK IS FULL. THE FUEL SPILLS ALL OVER THE GROUND AND SURROUNDING PEOPLE. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I REFILL THE TRUCK. I FOUND ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE THAT OTHER DURANGO'S ARE BEING RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM UNDER NHTSA RECALL 09V003000 AND 05V034000. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY TOLD ME MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE WAS NOT RECALLED AND THEREFORE I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. MY DEALER, ORANGE PARK DODGE, DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE FILLER TUBE INLET CHECK VALVE WHICH IS THE SAME PART RECALLED ON OTHER 2005 DODGE DURANGOS. I AM CURRENTLY WAITING FOR THE PART TO COME IN BEFORE IT CAN BE REPLACED. SINCE CHRYSLER IS CHANGING THE PART FOR FREE ON RECALLED VEHICLES, BUT MY 2005 DURANGO WITH THE SAME PROBLEM IS MY RESPONSIBILITY. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD.
