TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN GASOLINE WAS ADDED TO THE FUEL TANK IT WOULD SPILL ONTO THE GROUND. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DODGE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED TO FILE A CLAIM SINCE THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST HIM. THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS OR WARRANTIES. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 85,000.
EVERY TIME I FILL MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO WITH GASOLINE THE GAS OVERFILLS AS THE PUMP SHUTS OFF. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL WITH GAS AT ANY GAS STATION. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH DODGE AND THEY TELL ME THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM IN 2005 DODGE DURANGOS BUT MY 2005 DURANGO IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THIS HAS NOT CAUSED ANY CRASH, INJURY OR FIRE, BUT I FEEL THAT IT IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK AND THAT IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FURTHER. I HAVE LOOKED AT MANY ONLINE MESSAGE BOARDS AND IT SEAMS THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS OF DODGE DURANGOS HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THE SAME THING BY DODGE. *TR
GAS SHOOTS OUT OF FILLER NECK FROM GAS TANK AFTER DONE FILLING UP.THIS USE TO HAPPEN ABOUT EVERY THREE FILL UPS BUT NOW ITS ALL THE TIME.THE OTHER DAY IT SHOT OUT AND SOAKED A WOMEN ACROSS FROM ME. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER ABOUT THIS THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS A RECALL OUT ON THE DURANGO BUT NOT MINE WHICH IS RIDICULOUS.I CALLED DODGE WITH NO SATISFACTION.THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT.I TALKED WITH CONNER AT CHRYSLER-THE COMPLAINT # IS 19381977.I TOOK THE DURANGO TO SPITZER IN AKRON OHIO AND THEY ORDERED ME A FUEL TANK BUT THEY SAID ITS ON BACK ORDER(GO FIGURE). I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRENTYWITH A 50.00 DOLLAR DEDUCTIBLE BUT THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED IN MY OPINION SINCE ITS GOT THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE CARS AND TRUCKS IN ITS CLASS. *TR
EACH AND EVERYTIME OUR VEHICLE IS REFUELED GASOLINE SPRAYS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK ..WE HAVE FOUND RECALLS OF 2005 DODGE DURANGOS SUCH AS OURS BUT ACCORDING TO DODGE OUR SUV IS NOT ONE OF THE ONES COVERED FOR THE RECALL. THERE ANSWER TO US IS OH JUST TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND SEND US THE BILLS AND MAYBE WE WILL PAY FOR IT.. DURING MARCH 2014, I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO ON THE HIGHWAY. AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE IN DRIVE. I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. I PUT THE GEAR SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND TURNED THE IGNITION SWITCH BACK ON. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS THE THIRD INCIDENT. PRIOR TO THIS THIRD INCIDENT, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TWO SEPARATE DEALERS AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. *JS
WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MILES PER HOUR IN A RAIN STORM THE WINDSHIELD WIPER SUFFERED A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. *LN
FUEL SPITS OUT OF THE GASOLINE FILLER TUBE WHEN REFUELING COMPLETED. HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT THE TANK IS "TOPPED OFF". SPEED OF REFILL HAS NO EFFECT. FAST OR SLOW, THE SAME THING HAPPENS. HAPPENED THE LAST THREE TIME I REFUELED. DEALER SAYS MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO IS NOT COVERED IN PAST RECALLS. *TR

WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK ON MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE GAS DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF CAUSING AN OVERFLOW EVERY TIME. THIS IS THE EXACT THING THAT IS DESCRIBED IN A RECALL FOR '05 DURANGOS HOWEVER MINE DOES NOT HAVE A QUALIFYING VIN #. MY VEHICLE HAS 44,000 MILES ON IT. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER, DUE TO NOT BEING COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR THE RECALL THEY SAID IT WAS MY FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY TO GET THE PROBLEM DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED BY THE DEALERSHIP. CHRYSLER STATED ONLY AFTER THAT WAS DONE THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IF FURTHER BUT COULD NOT ASSURE ME THEY WOULD COVER ANY OF THE REPAIR BILL. I HAVE NOT HAD THIS DONE AS I CANNOT AFFORD THE UP FRONT EXPENSE. FOR THE MEANWHILE I DO NOT FILL MY TANK ALL THE WAY. *TR
FUEL FILLER CHECK VALVE DOES NOT WORK. GASOLINE WILL SPRAY OUT OF CAR WHEN TOPPING OFF. *TR
MY VEHICLE STARTED FEW MONTHS AGO TO SQUIRT GAS OUT OF THE TANK ONCE THE PUMP CLICKED OFF AT THE GAS STATION. I RECENTLY LEARNED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN TWO RECALLS FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM 05V34000 AND 09V003000 FOR A 2005 DODGE DURANGO, WHICH I OWN. I HAVE CONTACTED DODGE AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT ONE OF THE ONES AFFECTED. I ASKED THE PERSON HOW I WOULD GET MY VEHICLE UNDER THE RECALL HE THEN TOLD ME TO GO GET A DIAGNOSTICS CHECK AND ACCUSED ME OF CAUSING THE PROBLEM BY PUTTING A MARBLE IN THE GAS TANK. THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE DESIGN AND A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE I CONTINUE TO DUMP GAS ONTO THE GROUND. *TR

THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FUEL TANK FILLER TUBE INLET CHECK VALVE WOULD NOT CLOSE AT THE END OF REFUELING THE VEHICLE, SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V034000 ( FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP). BOTH THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 31,000.
THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING, WITHOUT WARNING THE WHOLE CAR JUST SHUTS OFF, LEAVING THE DRIVER WITH NO STEERING, BRAKES, OR CONTROL OF THE CAR.
CHRYSLER RECALL H45 - FUEL TANK FILLER INLET CHECK VALVE (GAS SPITS BACK AT YOU AND DOESN'T STOP FLOW FROM THE PUMP WHEN FULL). WE RESEARCHED THE SYMPTOMS AND FOUND SOME INFORMATION AT THE TIME. WE APPROACHED A LOCAL MENDON, MA DEALER ABOUT THE ISSUE AND WERE TOLD "THERE IS NO RECALL AND YOUR CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY". NOW WE FOUND A LETTER FROM CHRYSLER ACKNOWLEDGING THE ISSUE AND FOUND OUR VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED DURING THE RECALL TIME FRAME (9/04 VS. RECALL DATES FOR 2005 MODEL THROUGH NOVEMBER 2004). TANK HAS HAD THESE ISSUES FOR SOME TIME NOW, 3/2010 IS A "BEST RECOLLECTION" AS TO WHEN WE FIRST NOTICED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN REFUELING TO FULL CAPACITY, THE FILLER CAP WOULD NOT SHUT OFF AND CAUSE FUEL TO LEAK ONTO THE GROUND. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE STATING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
ENGINE TURNS OFF RANDOMLY USUALLY AT A LOWER SPEED BUT NOT ALWAYS. *TR
I OWN A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHENEVER THE VEHICLE RUNS THROUGH A MODERATELY SIZED RAIN PUDDLE AND WATER IS SPRAYED UP UNDER THE CAR THE POWER STEERING FAILS BUT RETURNS TO SERVICE A SHORT TIME AFTER. THIS HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY AND THE DEALER HAS BEEN CALLED AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM BUT SAY NOTHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT. IT IS TRULY A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ALONG WITH MY WIFE AND SONS. I LIVE IN TAMPA, FL AND RAINFALL IS QUITE ROUTINE (APPROX 52 INCHES/YR) AND PUDDLES CANNOT BE AVOIDED. *TR
MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO HAS GAS SPILL OUT WHEN IT IS FILLED UP. THE ONLY WAY TO PREVENT IS TO NOT COMPLETELY FILL THE TANK. THE DEALER IS GOING TO DIAGNOSE IT AND IF THEY SUGGEST REPLACING THE FUEL TANK THEN I WILL HAVE TO PAY A $100 DEDUCTIBLE SINCE I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE STATED MY VIN WAS NOT IN THE RECALL AND REGARDLESS OF THE FACT THAT IT IS THE SAME ISSUE THEY RECALLED 18,000 2005 DURANGO'S FOR THEY SAID IT SHOULD BE DONE AT MY EXPENSE. THIS ISSUE OCCURS AT ANY GAS STATION I GO TO ANY TIME I TRY TO FILL THE TANK. WE HAVE HAD IT AT THE DEALER IN THE PAST FOR THIS ISSUE WHEN IT OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND NOTHING WAS DONE AT THAT TIME AS IT DID NOT OCCUR WITH THE DEALER. *TR
I PURCHASE MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO SXT IN EARLY DECEMBER OF 2009. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 52,663 MILES ON IT. I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WHEN FILLING MY DURANGO WITH GAS. WHEN I FILL IT UP IT DOESN'T SHUT OFF CAUSING GAS TO SHOOT OUT EVERYWHERE, OVER MY CAR, GROUND AND MYSELF ONCE GETTING IT IN MY FACE. 2005 DODGE DURANGO, EVERY TIME I FUEL UP THE TANK TO FULL FUEL SPRAYS BACK AT ME, THIS IS A SERIOUS FIRE HAZARD WHEN FUELING. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY ADVISED THAT MY PARTICULAR DURANGO WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 32,000 MILES ON IT AND IS USED TO MAINLY TRANSPORT MY TWINS. I KNOW THAT DODGE HAD A RECALL ON CERTAIN DURANGOS HOWEVER ARE NOT WILLING TO TAKE A LOOK AT MINE AND IT IS DOING THE SAME THING THE RECALLED DURANGOS ARE DOING. I FEEL DODGE HAS A MUCH LARGER PROBLEM OR DEFECT WITH THE GAS TANKS ON ALL DURANGOS IN THIS YEAR RANGE. MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO HAS THE DEFECTIVE FUEL TANK FILLER INLET CHECK VALVE DESCRIBED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID 09V003000. THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY PERFORMANCE DODGE THE DODGE DEALER IN LINCOLN, NEBRASKA. CHRYSLER CLAIMS MY VIN IS NOT PART OF THIS RECALL, HOWEVER THE NEEDED REPLACEMENT PART IS ON NATIONWIDE BACK ORDER DUE TO THIS RECALL. I HAVE CONFIRMED MY VEHICLE HAS THE DEFECTIVE PART AND CHRYSLER SHOULD REPLACE IT AT NO CHARGE. I HAVE NOTICED SPILLAGE WHILE REFUELING FOR SEVERAL YEARS BUT DID NOT REALIZE IT WAS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE PART. *CN *TR
I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO SLT WITH THE 5.7L V8 HEMI. I JUST PURCHASED IT USED JANUARY 16TH OF 2010 WITH 80,000 MILES ON IT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEGUN TO STALL (THE STEERING LOCKS UP, BRAKES HARD TO PUSH, ENGINE CUTS OFF) WHEN MAKING TURNS OCCASIONALLY FROM THE STOPPED POSITION, OR WHEN ACCELERATING. IT VARIES AS TO WHEN THIS HAPPENS, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME 5 TIMES SINCE JAN. 16TH. THE LATEST INCIDENT WAS YESTERDAY (FEB 1ST) WHILE MAKING A TURN OFF OF ROCKPORT ROAD ONTO HIGHWAY 37 NORTH IN BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA. THE SPEED LIMIT IS 60 IN THIS STRETCH OF THE HIGHWAY, AND AS I WAS TURNING ONTO THE HIGHWAY THE DURANGO QUIT WORKING. I IMMEDIATELY PUT IT IN PARK AND STARTED IT BACK UP AND FLOORED IT IN REVERSE TO GET BACK ONTO ROCKPORT ROAD. I HAD GIVEN MYSELF AMPLE SPACE TO PULL ONTO THE HIGHWAY TO AVOID TRAFFIC, HOWEVER AT THOSE SPEEDS, TWO VEHICLES HAD APPROACHED RATHER FAST. THIS MORNING I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH INTO THIS PROBLEM AT WORK, AND I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND ONE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. THE DEALERSHIPS SAYS THE ENGINES ARE GOING BAD, THE SENSORS NEED REPLACED. WELL I AM HERE TO TELL YOU THESE ARE ALL LIES. I WORK AS A SALES REPRESENTATIVE AT THE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP DEALERSHIP IN BLOOMINGTON INDIANA, AND OUR SERVICE DEPARTMENT (THE SAME AS EVERY SINGLE ONE IN THE US) DIAGNOSES THESE PROBLEMS "TO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITY", ABILITY THAT IS TERRIBLE IN MY EYES. WHEN I CONTACTED DODGE I WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL WAS VIN# SPECIFIC AND MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. THE PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM I AM HAVING WITH MY VEHICLE YET DODGE REFUSE TO MAKE THE REPAIR BECAUSE THEY CLAIM IT IS A WARRANTY ISSUE AND THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD.*CW

I LOGGED A CASE WITH CHRYSLER AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY FOR ANALYSIS AT THE DEALER, AND THEN THEY WILL DETERMINE IF AND HOW MUCH TO COVER; IF ANY. THEY SAID ITS NOT COVERED AND THAT THE SUPPLIER OF THE PART THAT HAS FAILED ON THE OTHERS IS DIFFERENT, THOUGH I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS ON DISCUSSION BOARDS THAT THEY ALSO ARE NOT GETTING COVERED REPAIRS UNDER A RECALL BECAUSE THEIR VEHICLE'S VIN IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I BELIEVE THAT THEY NEED TO ISSUE A NEW RECALL OR EXPAND THIS TO MORE VEHICLES, IT IS VERY CLEAR THAT MORE VEHICLES HAVE THIS SAME SAFETY HAZARD THAT THEY ARE ADMITTING TOO. I DO NOT FEEL THAT I HAVE TO PAY THE DEALER TO DETERMINE THE ISSUE. I WANT CHRYSLER TO REPAIR FOR FREE SINCE THIS IS COVERED UNDER RECALL FOR OTHER SAME VEHICLES. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE FUEL CAP WAS REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO ADDITIONAL TIMES AFTER THE INITIAL REPAIR. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH MANUFACTURER BUT SHE WAS STILL AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 128,000.
GAS SPRAYS OUT WHEN FUELING 2005 DODGE DURANGO. STARTED ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO. I CONTACTED THE DODGE DEALER AT THAT TIME AND THEY SAID THEY'D NEVER HEARD OF A PROBLEM LIKE THAT AND THAT IT MUST BE FAULTY GAS PUMPS. PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND NOW OCCURS EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK. I CONTACTED THE DODGE DEALER AGAIN AND THEY SAID THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT THAT THIS VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY INDEPENDENT AUTO SHOP WHICH VERIFIED THAT THERE IS A FAULTY FUEL INLET CHECK VALVE AND THAT IT IS A SERIOUS FIRE HAZARD. THEY ALSO VERIFIED THAT THE RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THIS SAME FAULTY PART BUT THAT THE DODGE DEALER TOLD THEM THIS VEHICLE WASN'T PART OF THE RECALL WHEN THEY CONTACTED THEM ON MY BEHALF. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO FILL THE FUEL TANK WITH GASOLINE AND COULD ONLY REFUEL WITH SMALL AMOUNTS OF GASOLINE AT A TIME. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

ABOUT A WEEK AGO, MY HUSBAND WAS FILLING THE GAS TANK AND ONCE THE TANK WAS FULL, THE FUEL BEGAN TO SPEW OUT OF THE TANK. GAS LEAKED ALONG THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE GROUND. THEN JUST YESTERDAY, I FAILED TO REMEMBER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE FUEL TANK AND FILLED IT AGAIN. JUST AS I WALKED TOWARD THE VEHICLE, THE GAS METER STOPPED AND THERE WAS A CLICK AND GAS SPEWED ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND ONTO THE GROUND. I CONTACTED DODGE AND WAS TOLD THAT ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE, MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE PERSON TOOK MY CLAIM AND SOMEONE THAT DID NOT GIVE ME HIS NAME CALLED AND TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF THE CONDITION OF THE VEHICLE AND THEREFORE WOULD NOT INSPECT OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. WHEN FILLING UP THE FUEL TANK IN MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO, GAS WOULD SPILL/SPLASH OUT OF THE TANK INSTEAD OF STOPPING WHEN FULL. WE FINALLY TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL DODGE DEALER AND THEY SAID WE NEEDED A NEW GAS TANK AS SOME "FLOW" RELATED PART WITHIN THE GAS TANK WAS BAD. THE SOLUTION WAS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK. WHEN THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO FIND A PART, THEY INFORMED ME IT WOULD TAKE A MONTH FOR THE PART TO COME IN AS THERE WERE OVER 100 ON BACK-ORDER, ALL RELATED TO THE SAME ISSUE. IT SEEMED ODD TO ME THAT A LESS-THAN-5-YEAR-OLD CAR WITH ONLY 40,000 MILES ON IT HAD TO HAVE ITS GAS TANK REPLACED, BUT IT SEEMED MORE ODD THAT THERE WERE OVER 100 OTHERS AT A MINIMUM LIKE ME AWAITING THE SAME PART. SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE WAY THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT WAS BUILT AND/OR INSTALLED.
ADD ONE MORE COMPLAINT TO THE OTHERS ABOUT GAS SPEWING OUT WHEN YOU FILL UP THE TANK. THIS IS RIDICULOUS, I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF A RECALL, ONLY FOUND OUT ABOUT IT AFTER TALKING TO ANOTHER DURANGO OWNER. I HAVE NEVER EVEN HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING ON ANY OTHER VEHICLE BUT IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT WITH THE DURANGO. I WILL BE CONTACTING OUR DEALER (AND OTHERS IF NEEDED) TO SEE IF WE QUALIFY FOR THIS RECALL.
