OUR 2005 DODGE DURANGO GAS TALK OVERFLOWS WHEN FILLING. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE ISSUE I DISCOVERED THERE IS A RECALL ON MODELS MADE THE MONTH PRIOR TO OURS. AFTER CONTACTING THE LOCAL SERVICE CENTER, I WAS TOLD TO CALL THE DODGE CORP. ONLY TO HAVE THEM TELL ME THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD HELP ME WITH. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT ON EVERY FILLUP COVERS THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND WITH UP TO QUART, POSSIBLE MORE OF GASOLINE. I DID ATTEMPT TO CALL THE COMPANY ANOTHER TIME TO CORRECT THIS HOPING TO REACH ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL THAT MIGHT HELP. I WAS ALLOWED TO TALK WITH A FLOOR SUPERVISOR WHO ONCE AGAIN ASSURED ME THAT SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE, GASOLINE WOULD SPEW BACK OUT FROM THE FILLER TUBE, SIMILAR TO THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07V426000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY). BOTH THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE CONTACTS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. UPDATED 4/01/11*BF THE CONSUMER STATED HE IS ABLE TO PROVIDE VIDEO FOOTAGE OF THE FUEL SPILLING OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE. IT OCCURS ON ALMOST EVERY TIME THE CONSUMER FILLS THE VEHICLE. EACH SPILL OVER FLOWS APPROXIMATELY 1/2 GALLON OF FUEL ON THE GROUND. UPDATED 07/29/11
GAS OVERFLOW PROBLEM WHEN FILLING UP 2005 DODGE DURANGO LIMITED. IF I TRY TO FILL UP MY GAS TANK, I GET SPLATTERED WITH GASOLINE, THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM RELATING TO 2005 DODGE DURANGO, BUT MY VIN DOES NOT MATCH THE RECALL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHEN THE CONTACT PLACED FUEL INTO THE VEHICLE, GASOLINE WOULD SPILL BACK OUT. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FUEL NECK FAILED. THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY). A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY REPLACED THE FUEL TANK FOR FREE; HOWEVER, SHE HAD TO PAY A $100 DOLLAR DEDUCTIBLE. SHE FEELS THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD ALSO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEDUCTIBLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 18,000. UPDATED 6/9/09 *CN THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE FUEL TANK FAILED AND THEY WOULD ABSORB 75% OF THE COST. THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED AND THE CONSUMER PAID A $100.00 DEDUCTIBLE. FUEL SPEWS OUT OF FILLER NECK WHEN TANK IS FILLED. DODGE SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR, ABOUT $700, THEN I COULD REQUEST THAT DODGE REIMBURSE ME, BUT THEY DID NOT EXPECT ME TO BE SUCCESSFUL. OTHER 2005 DODGE DURANGOS WERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS, BUT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *TR
MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO SPILL GAS WHENEVER IT NEAR THE END OF FILLING CREATING A MAJOR FIRE HAZARD ALSO NOW WHEN EVER I AM COMING TO A STOP OF A SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE STALLS WHICH KILLS THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. TOTALLY UNSAFE AND WHEN YOU CALL CHRYSLER THEY SAY THERE IS NO PROBLEM. I AM NOT GOING TO PAY FOR REPAIRS THAT ARE CLEARLY RECALL ITEMS. I WAS DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WHEN I HEARD A CLUNK NOISE, THIS HAS BEEN PRECEDED BY 2-3 MONTHS OF A HIGH PITCHED SQUEAKING NOISE THAT THE MECHANICS COULD FIND NO CAUSE FOR. AFTER THE CLUNK THE VEHICLE MADE A WHOMPING RHYTHMIC NOISE WHILE I DROVE HOME. THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I STARTED IT TO DRIVE TO THE REPAIR SHOP IT SHIFTED IN GEAR BUT WOULD GO NOWHERE. IT APPEARED THE REAR BRAKES WERE LOCKED. IT WA STOWED TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND THE MECHANICS REPORT THAT THE PARKING BRAKE ON THE LEFT SIDE HAS BROKEN AND RESULTED IN JAMMING AND BREAKING OTHER COMPONENTS. MECHANIC ALSO REPORTS THE RIGHT SIDE APPEARS TO BE BROKEN AS WELL BUT HAS NOT DONE THE SAME AMT OF DAMAGE. *TR
PURCHASED A USED 2005 DODGE DURANGO LIMITED WITH THE HEMI. IT HAS DIED MULTIPLE TIMES AT RED LIGHTS WITH NO WARNING AND NO PATTERN TO THE STALLING. HAVE CALLED MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS WHO CLAIM THEY HAVE NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PROBLEM. EACH TIME IT HAS STARTED UP IMMEDIATELY BUT WITH A 7 MONTH OLD BABY I FEAR THE CONSEQUENCES OF CONTINUING TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE WHEN NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT CAUSES THE PROBLEM AND WITH AN INTERNET SEARCH HAVE FOUND THAT I'M NOT ALONE IN HAVING THIS PROBLEM. *TR
FUEL TANK INLET CHECK VALVE IS BAD IMPROPER OPERATION AND FUEL SPIT BACK DURING REFUELING. *TR

THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FUEL TANK FILLER TUBE INLET CHECK VALVE DOES NOT FULLY CLOSE AT THE END OF REFUELING, WHICH ALLOWS SOME FUEL TO ESCAPE FROM THE FILLER NECK. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP); THEREFORE, THEY WOULD NOT ASSUME PARTIAL FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO THE REMEDY REFERENCED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,644.
I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO THAT I RECENTLY STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH. PROBLEM 1: WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK THE PUMP DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF AND FUEL COMES SHOOTING OUT THE TOP OF THE TANK. PROBLEM 2: WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FLICKERS ON AND OFF. I CHECKED THE NHTSA.GOV WEBSITE AND FOUND THAT THERE WERE RECALLS ISSUED FOR BOTH OF THESE ISSUES THAT I'VE EXPERIENCED SO I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER SAID MY VIN IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND THAT I HAVE TO CALL CHRYSLER. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALER IS UNWILLING TO WORK FOR ANY DISCOUNTS AND THAT BECAUSE MY CAR IS OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR ANY SERVICES. IN BOTH RECALL NOTICES IT STATES THAT THESE ISSUES ARE BOTH FIRE HAZARDS AND I DON'T FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY $1700 OUT OF MY OWN POCKET TO RESOLVE THEM, AS THESE ARE KNOWN ISSUES WITH 2005 DODGE DURANGOS. THE FAILURE BEGAN TWO DAYS AGO, BUT NOW THEY HAVE STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY. SHE CALLED THE DEALER TO INQUIRE ABOUT HAVING HER VEHICLE REPAIRED AND WAS INFORMED THAT SHE WAS CUSTOMER NUMBER 681. THEY FURTHER STATED THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO REPAIR THE TURN SIGNALS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO RELEASES FUEL BACK OUT OF THE FUEL FILLER WHEN EVER I FILL UP I DO NOT TOP OFF DODGE HAS A RECALL FOR SOME OF THEIR DURANGOS OF THIS YEAR AND MAKE BUT THEY SAY MINE IS NOT INCLUDED THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WITH THE FUMES AND LIQUID COMING OUT OF MY FILLER NECK. BOUGHT A 2005 DODGE DURANGO AND CHECKING RECALLS FOUND THAT THE PROBLEM I HAVE WITH REFUEL OVERFILLING WAS RECALLED. I CONTACTED THE DODGE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. HOWEVER I COULD CHANGE IT FOR A CHARGE. EVERY SINGLE TIME I FILL UP, I MUST WATCH AND STOP IT BEFORE IT IS FULL OR GAS SPURTS OUT ALL OVER THE AREA. THIS IS DEFINITELY A FIRE HAZARD. 2005 DODGE DURANGO: WHEN FUELING THE VEHICLE TO FULL THE VEHICLE SPITS GAS BACK AT YOU AND THIS ISN'T A SMALL AMOUNT EITHER. THIS OCCURS MOSTLY WHEN FUELING THE VEHICLE TO FULL. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN DECEMBER 2008. THERE IS A RECALL NUMBER: 09V003000 AND 05V034000; CHRYSLER CLAIMS MY VEHICLE HAD THE RECALLED PERFORMED, BUT I THINK THEY NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM. *TR
THE CAR STALLED WHEN DRIVING WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WHEN VERY BRIGHT, AND THEN THE CAR STALLED. I HAD TO RE-START IT. THANK GOODNESS NO ONE HIT MY CAR, I WASN'T IN AN INTERSECTION OR ON THE FREEWAY (I COMMUTE EVERY DAY ON IT WITH MY CHILD). WE WENT TO THE LOCAL AUTO-MECHANIC. HE SAID THE ETS VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WE REPLACED IT FOR $344.16 HOWEVER, THOUGH HE KEPT IT AND DROVE IT, IT DIDN'T HAPPEN TO HIM AND HE SAID IT WOULD BE HARD TO BE 100% SURE IT THAT WAS REALLY THE ISSUE. IT WAS HIS BEST ANSWER. HE COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY A CAR THAT ONLY HAS 39K MILES ON IT AND IS 4 YEARS OLD WOULD DO THIS. *TR
GAS GUSHES OUT OF THE FILL NOZZLE OF MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO LTD SPRAYING THE VEHICLE, GROUND, GAS PUMP AND MYSELF WITH GASOLINE. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED , JAN. 3, 2009, AND THIS HAS OCCURRED EVERYTIME THAT I FILL UP WITH GAS, NO MATTER HOW SLOWLY THE DELIVERY RATE OF THE PUMP. I CONTACTED DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT SINCE THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED IN DECEMBER OF 2004 AND MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED BY ANY SUBSEQUENT INCIDENTS AND WERE NOT INTERESTED IN ANY ENVIRONMENTAL OR SAFETY ISSUES THAT I WAS HAVING. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,000.

WHEN PUTTING GASOLINE INTO MY TANK, GAS WILL SHOOT OUT OF THE TANK PERIODICALLY THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS.. I ESTIMATE THAT APPROXIMATELY 4-5 CUPS OF GAS END UP ON THE GROUND, ON MY FEET, AND ON MY CLOTHES. IT WILL CONTINUALLY SPEW OUT UNLESS I BARELY DEPRESS THE FILL UP ARM AT THE PUMP. THIS RESULTS IN NOT ONLY GASOLINE OVER THE GROUND AND MYSELF, BUT IT WILL OFTEN TAKE ME ABOUT 30 MINUTES TO FILL MY TANK. EXPERIENCING SAME ISSUE AS REPORTED IN NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 09V003000 - FUEL-SPIT BACK PROBLEMS CAUSED BY STUCK INLET CHECK VALVES IN THE FUEL TANK FILLER TUBES. WHEN FILLING UP THE TANK THE FUEL SPITS OUT. THIS ISSUE OCCURS REGULARLY UPON FILL UP. THE FUEL SPITS OUT ONTO VEHICLE, GAS STATION PAVEMENT, AND CLOTHING. WHENEVER THE CONTACT DRIVES THE VEHICLE AT LOW SPEEDS AND BEGINS TO MAKE A TURN THE STEERING COLUMN WILL SUDDENLY LOCK UP. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND THE CONTACT DID NOT NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCES BEFOREHAND. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 92000, FAILURE MILEAGE WAS AT 57000. BML
I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO SLT. THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 TO 15 MPH. RECENTLY, I MADE A LEGAL U-TURN AND THE VEHICLE STALLED HALFWAY INTO THE TURN. BECAUSE THE CAR STALLED, I WAS NOT ABLE TO CONTINUE WITH THE FULL TURN AND I WAS SITTING IN THE ROAD WITH CARS COMING HEAD ON. I IMMEDIATELY PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND STARTED THE CAR AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS AND GOT OUT OF IMMEDIATE HARMS WAY. IT IS TRULY A MIRACLE THAT I WAS NOT HIT BY A VEHICLE HEAD ON WHERE CARS WERE COMING AT ME AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE DIES IF IT HASN'T HAPPEN ALREADY. ON DEC 19 2008 AS I WAS DRIVING HOME DURING A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WHEN MY DRIVER SIDE WIND SHIELD WIPER SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING AND GOT TANGLED UP WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE WIPER THAT CONTINUED TO WORK NORMALLY. THIS HAPPENED MINUTES BEFORE I WAS ABOUT TO ENTER THE FREEWAY SO LUCKILY I WAS IN A PLACE WHERE I COULD SAFELY PULL OVER. I TRIED TO WAIT OUT THE STORM BUT IT WAS GETTING REALLY BAD SO I HAD TO DRIVE AT 20-30 MPH WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON. I FIRST THOUGHT THAT THE BOLT HOLDING THE WIPER ARM WAS STRIPPED BUT AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER TO GET INSPECTED, TO MY SURPRISE I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE LINKAGE FOR THE WIPER SYSTEM. THE LINKAGE JUST BROKE OUT OF NOWHERE. OUR VEHICLE IS ONLY 3 1/2 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING HAPPENING ON NEW OR OLD VEHICLES OF ANY MAKE. THE REPAIR TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT THE LINKAGE BROKE BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE PART WAS MADE. THE AMOUNT IT COST TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE CAME OUT TO $607.00 FOR PARTS AND LABOR AND WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET IT REPLACED TODAY. IT ALSO TOOK 7-10 DAYS TO ORDER AND SHIP THE PART TO THE REPAIR SHOP. I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS REPLACED WITH THE SAME MODEL PART SO THIS PROBLEM MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN WHICH IS NOT COMFORTING AT ALL. WHILE FILLING UP THE FUEL TANK (EVERY TIME), FUEL POURS (SHOOTS) OUT THROUGH THE FILLER NECK ONCE THE TANK IS FILLED. FUEL EITHER RUSHES OUT AND DOWN THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE OR IT SQUIRTS OUT DANGEROUSLY WITH A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FORCE. RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, I HAVE FOUND AN OFFICIAL RECALL FROM DODGE FOR 2005 DURANGOS, BUT CALLS TO DODGE AND INQUIRIES ON THEIR WEBSITE INDICATE THAT MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT COULD EASILY LEAD TO FIRE, ETC.
