2005 DODGE DURANGO GASOLINE SPURTS (SEVERAL OUNCES) FROM THE TANK FILLING PORT WHEN FUEL TANK IS FULL AND THE NOZZLE CLICKS OFF. THIS DEFECT BEGAN TO APPEAR AT APPROX 65,000 MILES. ALTHOUGH THERE ARE EXISTING RECALLS FOR THE SAME DEFECT ON OTHER 2005 DODGE DURANGOS, THIS VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHENEVER THE CONTACT FILLS THE FUEL TANK, GASOLINE SPRAYS OUT OF THE TANK. THE FUEL NOZZLE STOPS WHEN THE TANK IS FULL, BUT FUEL STILL SPRAYS OUT OF THE TANK. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE;TANK ASSEMBLY;FILLER PIPE AND CAP). THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED ALTHOUGH THE FAILURES WERE IDENTICAL. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,000. UPDATED 2/5/09 *CN UPDATED 02/10/09. *JB
THE FILLER TUBE INLET CHECK VALVE NOT FULLY CLOSE AND ALLOWS FUEL TO ESCAPE FROM THE VEHICLE FILLER NECK. THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS BUT WHEN I CALL THEY SAID MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT COVERED FOR THIS RECALL. NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V034000. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE BEGINNING OF DECEMBER EVERYTIME I FILL MY TANK. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP AT ANY GAS STATION, THE PUMP WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF AND GASOLINE SHOOTS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT SHOOTS OUT UNDER PRESSURE. THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME THAT I FILL UP FOR APPROXIMATELY THE LAST TEN FILL UPS. THERE ARE TWO RECALL CAMPAIGNS REGARDING THIS EXACT ISSUE, YET CHRYSLER DENIES MY CLAIM ON THE BASIS THAT MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN EITHER CAMPAIGN. I SPOKE TO THE NHTSA OFFICE OF DEFECTS INVESTIGATION TODAY, AND THEY RECOMMENDED CONTACTING THE STATE'S ATTORNEY GENERAL AND THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION. PRESENTLY THERE ARE OVER 40 OTHER OUTSTANDING COMPLAINTS WITH THE NHTSA REGARDING THIS EXACT ISSUE. IT APPEARS THAT CHRYSLER IS SHIRKING ITS RESPONSIBILITY TO REPAIR THIS VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE. BY THE WAY, IT IS CHRYSLER ALONE THAT DETERMINES THE APPLICABLE VIN NUMBERS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHEN THE CONTACT FILLED UP THE VEHICLE WITH FUEL, GASOLINE WOULD SHOOT OUT OF THE FUEL TANK. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY). THE CONTACT FEELS THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE A FIRE COULD OCCUR. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO HAS A PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE FOLLOWING RECALLS BY THE NHTSA: 05V034000 AND 09V003000. I CONTACTED THE DODGE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOT A RECALL ON MY VIN, TO CONTACT DODGE CORPORATION. DODGE CORPORATION VERIFIED THAT MY DURANGO WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, YET IT HAS THE 'SPIT BACK' PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. *TR
I AM MAKING A COMPLAINT THAT CHRYSLER DID NOT ISSUE A RECALL BASED ON NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER : 09V003000. I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO THAT HAS HAD A DEFECTIVE INLET CHECK VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK THAT HAS ALLOWED GAS TO FLOW BACK UP THE FILL LINE DURING FILLING OF THE TANK. I HAD QUESTIONED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN THE PASSED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE IN VEHICLES OF THE YEAR OF MY VEHICLE, BUT I WAS TOLD THIS ISSUE DID NOT PERTAIN TO MY VEHICLE SINCE THIS ISSUE WAS REMEDIED ON VEHICLES MADE AFTER 01 OCTOBER OF THAT YEAR. I TOLD THEM MINE WAS STILL HAVING THE PROBLEMS LISTED. ACCORDING TO THE RECALL NUMBER 09V003000, CHRYSLER WAS SUPPOSED TO RECALL THE VEHICLES BUILT UP TO 11/30 OF THAT YEAR. ACCORDING TO WHAT I HAVE FOUND OUT TODAY THIS DID NOT OCCUR, THEY PLACED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS ISSUE. SO INSTEAD OF INFORMING DEALERSHIPS AND OWNERS OF THE ISSUE, THEY WOULD ONLY FIX IT IF THE OWNERS HAD THE ISSUE OF THE CHECK VALVE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WELL, I HAVE HAD THE ISSUE FOR ALMOST THE WHOLE TIME I'VE HAD MY VEHICLE(11/17/08), AND I'VE BROUGHT IT UP TO THE LOCAL SERVICE SHOP A FEW TIMES, AND I WAS ALWAYS TOLD THERE WAS NO LISTING OF MY VEHICLE REQUIRING THE REPAIR TO BE DONE. THIS IS QUITE FRUSTRATING BECAUSE FOR YEARS I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FILL MY GAS TANK UP COMPLETELY DUE TO FUEL COMING BACK UP THE TUBE AND SPRAYING ALL OVER MY CLOTHES. ONCE I TALKED TO A REPRESENTATIVE WITH CHRYSLER ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THE NHTSA NUMBER TODAY I WAS INFORMED ABOUT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE PART, THEY SAID THE IDENTIFIER WAS (X48). AFTERWARDS I CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE A DIAGNOSIS PERFORMED TO DETERMINE IF MY VEHICLE HAD THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING RELATING TO X48 EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR MY VEHICLE.
WHENEVER I FILL MY VEHICLE WITH GASOLINE IT SPRAYS BACK OUT OF THE TANK. THIS STARTED TO OCCUR IN NOVEMBER AND HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL IT. IT WAS REPAIRED AT A DODGE DEALER BY REPLACING THE GAS TANK. THEY SAID THERE WAS A RECALL BACK IN 2005 FOR THIS AND AGAIN IN 2009 BUT WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS INCLUDED. *TR UPDATED 03/03/09. *JB
WHILE FILLING UP THE FUEL TANK (EVERY TIME), FUEL POURS OUT THROUGH THE FILLER NECK ONCE THE TANK IS FILLED. DEPENDING UPON THE TYPE OF FUEL PUMP BEING USED, FUEL EITHER RUSHES OUT AND DOWN THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE OR IT SQUIRTS OUT DANGEROUSLY WITH A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FORCE. RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, I HAVE FOUND AN OFFICIAL RECALL FROM DODGE FOR 2005 DURANGOS, BUT CALLS TO DODGE AND INQUIRIES ON THEIR WEBSITE INDICATE THAT MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT COULD EASILY LEAD TO FIRE, ETC. AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, I AM RELUCTANT TO FILL UP MY VEHICLE WHILE MY CHILDREN ARE IN THE CAR DUE TO THE INCREASED RISK OF SPILLED GASOLINE ON THE CAR, SIDEWALK AND SOMETIMES ALL THE WAY TO THE PUMP ITSELF. I HAVE READ THAT YOU WERE ABLE TO HELP OTHERS WITH THIS ONGOING PROBLEM AND I AM ASKING FOR YOUR HELP IN THIS MATTER AND SINCERELY APPRECIATE YOUR CONSIDERATION. *TR
THERE WAS NO LEAD UP, THE GAS TANK JUST STARTED OVERFLOWING AND IT WOULD NOT SHUT OFF THE AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF ON THE GAS PUMP WHEN FUELING THE TANK. IT HAPPENS EVERYTIME THAT WE FILL UP USING THE AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF FEATURE ON A GAS PUMP. THE RESULT IS SEVERAL OUNCES (JUST A GUESS, BUT IT IS A LOT) OF GASOLINE RUNNING DOWN THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK, ONTO THE GROUND AND EVEN SPLASHING ONTO AN UNSUSPECTING TRUCK OWNER. WE TOOK THE TRUCK INTO OUR DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR CERTAIN VINS OF THIS VEHICLE TYPE, BUT OURS IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN THE SAME YEAR AS THE RECALL VEHICLES. THE ESTIMATE FOR A NEW FUEL TANK IS AROUND $800 AND OF COURSE THE WARRANTY WENT VOID A FEW THOUSAND MILES PRIOR TO THE MALFUNCTION WE ARE EXPERIENCING. IF DODGE KNOWS THERE ARE PROBLEMS ON SOME OF THE TRUCKS IN THE SAME YEAR THAT OURS WAS MANUFACTURED AND NOTHING WAS DONE TO CORRECT THE DEFECT, HOW CAN THEY NOT BE LIABLE FOR FIXING THIS PROBLEM?? DODGE IS NOT WILLING TO FIX AND I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT THEY KNOW ABOUT, BUT REFUSE TO FIX IN REGARDS TO ALL OF THE TRUCKS AFFECTED. IT SEEMS AS IF NO CHANGE WAS MADE TO THE FUEL TANK DESIGN THAT THEY ADMIT WAS WRONG IN VEHICLES OF THE SAME MAKE, JUST A FEW MONTHS OLDER. HOW IS THAT ETHICAL? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY), ALTHOUGH THE SYMPTOMS WERE IDENTICAL. DODGE DURANGO 2005, RECENTLY HAS BEGUN TO BLOW GAS OUT OF THE TANK AFTER FILLING. EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK A LARGE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE EXPLODES FROM THE TANK AND CONSTITUTES A NUISANCE AND A SERIOUS HAZARD DUE TO THE GAS SPILL. *TR
MY 2002 DODGE DURANGO SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING, THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE, THEREFORE WILL NOT TAKE IT ON ANY HIGHWAYS OR WERE THERE IS ALOT OF TRAFFIC, ONCE IT SHUTS OFF I HAVE NO STEERING OR BRAKES AND HAVE BEEN VERY CLOSE TO BEING IN ACCIDENTS. THIS IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE AND I HOPE AND PRAY TO GOD THIS IS NOT WHAT IT IS GOING TO TAKE FOR DODGE TO DO A RECALL. IT IS JUST TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLE THAT DODGE WOULD NOT LOOK INTO THIS AND RISK A LAWSUIT FROM SOMEBODY BEING SERIOUSLY BEING INJURED OR EVEN KILLED. PLEASE REFERENCE NHTSA ACTION NUMBER : RQ08005. THIS COMPLAINT IS FOR A 2005 DODGE DURANGO , WHEN FILLING GAS TANK, AND AT THE TIME TANK IS FULL, THE BACK FLOW VALVE OF THE FILLER NOZZLE SEEMS TO BE STUCK OPEN AND DOES NOT CLOSE. THIS CAUSES FUEL TO BACK FLOW OUT OF THE TANK AND UNDER THE WHEEL WELL AND ONTO THE GROUND. ALSO IT HAS BEEN OBSERVED THAT GAS SPRAYS OUT A HIGH PRESSURE. I HAVE BEEN TOTALLY SOAKED BY THE FUEL BACK FLOW AND THE FUEL CONTACT ON MY SKIN/CLOTHING CAUSED IRRITATION . I HAVE SEEN THE PROBLEM 3 TIMES AND NOW HAVE THE SUV IN THE DEALER SHOP FOR REPAIR. THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO NHTSA RECALL NO. 05V-034, BUT THE DEALERSHIP INSISTS THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED 10/2005 AND OBVIOUSLY HAS THE DEFECT REPORTED BY THE RECALL. SINCE THE VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT ONLY HAS 26K MILES ON IT, THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WOULD BE REPAIRED VIA "GOODWILL" (BUT ONLY AFTER I THREATENED TO TAKE THE DEALERSHIP TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT OVER THE ISSUE...... REALLY, DEALERS NEED TO KNOW THAT THIS PROBLEM IS STILL HAPPENING AND SHOULD FORMALLY RECALL ALL YEAR 2005 VEHICLES. I WAS PRETTY LUCKY NOT TO GET SPRAYED IN THE FACE WITH FUEL. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY: FILLER PIPE AND CAP). THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 69,000.

WHENEVER HE FILLS UP THE FUEL TANK, GASOLINE SPRAYS BACK OUT OF THE TANK. THE GAS NOZZLE STOPPED WHEN THE TANK WAS FULL, BUT GASOLINE STILL SPRAYED OUT OF THE TANK. THE VEHICLE IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR POSSIBLE REPAIR. THE VIN WAS NOT ACCEPTED BY THE SYSTEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 91,000. WHEN NEGOTIATING A RIGHT TURN THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO WOULD NOT TURN IN THE EXPECTED DIRECTION OF TRAVEL; THEREBY THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED INTO A DITCH. NO INJURIES TO DRIVER. NO DAMAGE TO PROPERTY OR OTHER VEHICLES. AFTER REVIEW OF THE VEHICLE FOR DAMAGE, THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE APPEARED TO BE SEVERELY MISALIGNED AND BROKEN FROM THE TIE ROD ASSEMBLY. AS OF THE DATE OF THIS COMPLAINT, THERE SEVERITY OF THE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED, AND IS STILL UNDER REVIEW WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *TR
FROM TIME VEHICLE PURCHASED IT WOULD OVERFLOW GAS WHEN TRYING TO FILL TANK,RECENTLY ( APPROX. 93000 MILES)A STRONG ODOR OF GAS IS SMELT WHEN STANDING BY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND ALSO ON FLOOR IN PASSENGER AREA.IT ALSO APPEARS THAT THERE MAY BE A FUEL LEAK COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE TANK. TALKED WITH DODGE AND THEY ARE SAYING THIS IS NOT A RECALL ISSUE AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. RESEARCH I HAVE DONE ON THE INTERNET SHOWS THAT HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF DURANGO OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND DODGE SAYS THE RECALL DOES NOT APPLY TO THEIR VEHICLES, WRONG SERIAL NUMBERS. OBVIOUSLY THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO ALL 2005 DURANGOS WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP WITH GAS, IT BACK FLOWS ALL OVER THE PLACE. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH GAS, WHEN THE PUMP CLICKS OFF GAS THEN OVERFLOWS OUT OF THE TANK AND ONTO THE GROUND. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM AS COVERED IN RECALL # 05V460000 BUT THE VIN ON THE VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED. THERE IS ALSO AN ONGOING DEFECT INVESTIGATION WITH NHTSA ACTION # RQ08005. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE PLACING FUEL IN THE VEHICLE, GASOLINE SPILLED OUT ONTO THE GROUND. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FILLER PIPE NECK DID NOT CLOSE, WHICH ALLOWED THE FUEL TO SPILL. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE STORAGE TANK ASSEMBLY FILLER PIPE AND CAP). SHE WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 86,000. MY DURANGO ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH NO WARNING. ONCE IT SHUTS OFF I TOTALLY LOOSE ALL POWER STEERING/POWER BRAKES. IT HAPPENS TOTALLY AT RANDOM, SOMETIMES IT WILL HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY, SOMETIMES IT WILL GO MONTHS IN BETWEEN INCIDENTS. NO ACCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED AS OF YET, BUT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY NEAR MISSES, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING ON WINDY ROADS, WHEN LACK OF POWER STEERING IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER WHO HAS STATED THAT DUE TO THE RANDOMNESS OF THE ISSUE, THEY WOULD HAVE TO KEEP IT, CHARGING ME $80.00/HOUR TRYING TO EVEN REPLICATE THE ISSUE, NO CODES WERE ABLE TO BE FOUND. AFTER RESEARCH ON THE WEB, THIS IS NOT JUST AN ISSUE WITH MY DODGE, BUT HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OTHER PEOPLE. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS AROUND 40,000 ON MY VEHICLE, OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY. ONCE THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF, I AM ABLE TO PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND IT WILL START BACK UP FINE AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO, THE PUMP WILL AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF WHEN FULL AND THEN GAS SQUIRTS/SHOOTS OUT OF THE FILL TUBE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE OCTOBER 2008, I CHECKED FOR RECALLS ON THE CHRYSLER WEBSITE AND IT STATED THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE. ALTHOUGH I DID FIND A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE UNDER THIS RECALL VINS ENDING 5F500001 TO 5F535219, MY VIN IS 5F503046 WHICH CLEARLY FALLS IN THAT RANGE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT DEALER WHERE THERE WERE SEVERAL REPAIRS MADE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE FELT HOT AND THERE WAS SMOKE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT WAITED FOR THE VEHICLE TO COOL DOWN AND DROVE TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIANS NOTICED THE WIRING HARNESS AND THE INTAKE MANIFOLD HAD MELTED. THE TECHNICIANS REPLACED THE LIFTERS, WIRING HARNESS, INTAKE MANIFOLD AND THE OXYGEN SENSOR. AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE MADE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
2 DIFFERENT PROBLEMS WITH 2005 DODGE DURANGO TRANSMISSION. FIRST PROBLEM. CAR SLIPS INTO REVERSE FROM DRIVE IF THE CAR IS BUMPED SLIGHTLY BY OPENING DOOR OR IS ON A HILL. I WAS PINNED BETWEEN MY CAR AND A WALL WHILE TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE CAR WHILE IT WAS IN PARK BECAUSE IT SLIPPED INTO REVERSE AFTER I GOT OUT OF THE CAR. 2ND PROBLEM, TRANSMISSION COIL RUSTED AFTER 2 YEARS AND THE CAR STARTED SPUTTERING LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO DIE. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALER AND PAID $900.00 TO HAVE THE COILS AND SEALS CHANGED AND THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION TUNED UP FOR IT TO RUN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RETURN CALL FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 149,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WE HAD OUR GAS TANK REPLACED ON OUR VEHICLE ON 7/24/08 AND CHRYSLER THEN HAD A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE FUEL INLET VALVE ISSUE, WHICH WAS THE PROBLEM THAT WE WERE HAVING. WE HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT REIMBURSING US THE COST OF THE GAS TANK DUE TO THE RECALL AND THEY WILL NOT REIMBURSE THIS MONEY, STATING THAT THEY HAVE REVIEWED OUR CASE AND WILL NOT REIMBURSE US. WE WERE NOT AWARE OF THIS RECALL, AS WE DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTICE. WE HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE SINCE FEBRUARY OF 2008. WE JUST BECAME AWARE OF THE RECALL AND THEREFORE CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT THIS SITUATION. WHEN PLACING FUEL INTO THE VEHICLE AND USING THE AUTOMATIC DEVICE THAT SUPPORTS THE PUMP HANDLE, GASOLINE WOULD SPILL OUT AND SPLASH BACK BECAUSE THE VALVE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY HAZARD. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS 09V003000 AND 05V034000. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD CHECK AFTER THE OIL CHANGE. AFTER THE OIL CHANGE, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,957 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 47,000.
ENGINE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES DURING VEHICLE TURNS. THIS OCCURS EVERY YEAR WITH THE VEHICLE ESPECIALLY DURING WARM WEATHER MONTHS. CURRENTLY STILL OWN VEHICLE AND HAD ONE INJURY ACCIDENT IN 2013 DIRECTLY RELATED TO STALLING ISSUES.

THIS PROBLEM BEGAN IN JULY 2008. EVERYTIME I TRY TO PUT FUEL IN MY VEHICLE IT ENDS UP SPEWING BACK OUT OF THE TANK ALL OVER ME, THE VEHICLE AND THE PAVEMENT. MY DEALER LOOKED INTO IT AND SAID IT WAS A VALVE PROBLEM BUT WOULD REQUIRE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE TANK WITH A COST OF AT LEAST $1000. I HAVE SEEN OTHER 2005 DODGE DURANGO'S GETTING RECALLS BUT MY VIN DOES NOT COME UP AS GETTING THIS RECALL. THIS IS UNFAIR THAT I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS OTHER 05 DURANGOS BUT AM NOT PART OF THE RECALL. AT AROUND 38000 MILES WE STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE GAS SPILLING OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE OF OUR 2005 DODGE DURANGO WHEN THE TAKE GETS NEAR FULL WHEN REFUELING. AT FIRST WE THOUGHT IT WAS THAT PARTICULAR PUMP, BUT WE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS. THERE IS A RECALL FOR WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE SAME ISSUE, BUT ACCORDING TO THE DODGE WEB SITE, OUR 2005 DURANGO IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. THE DEALER WANTS AROUND $700 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK. THIS IS AN EXTREME HAZARD AS GAS SPILLS ALL OVER THE GROUND AND ME WHEN REFUELING. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE AND DODGE SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. PLEASE HELP! *TR
